Lovely watch, almost impossible to see the hour hand..
My second casio purchase in as many months. This was to wear at my work as a night time lorry driver, as i didnt want to ruin my ‘best one’. All looked good to start, easy enough to set up and loved the chunky robust buttons and overall look. Out on my first shift since buying the watch (yesterday) and i noticed its almost impossible to see the hour hand, which is in red, i really had to catch the light on the face of the watch and then it was a real struggle to see the hour hand. The illuminate button did nothing to help at all. Even in daylight it was a struggle, where as the minute hand (in silver) was impossible to miss. Today is a dark miserable day and it made just as hard to see as night time. Strangely the black model of this has both hands in silver and the blue version has 2 blue hands, why the red has odd coloured hands i have no idea. Love the watch but totally impractical…I will order the blue one and hopefully it will be better…

I have a few high end watches like Omega Seamaster, Tag F1 and Tissot, but I’ve to say by far G-Shock is my go-to watch which I enjoy wearing the most. So much so, I just bought this one (red GD-100-1A4ER) as my 2nd G-Shock after the one I use for a few years (GD-100-1AER, Grey – similar code). I dived many times down to 40m with my other G-Shock, so pretty sure applies to this as well. This watch looks really beautiful, sporty, has the same chunky solid feeling of any G-Shock. Extremely durable watch, for a very nice price level. Strongly recommended.

Bought this watch with the red and white hands version recently and liked it so much I’ve now bought this one for when I’m in a stealthy mood. Very well loaded with features like mist G-Shocks but very affordable and it looks great. Just note though that negative screens only show well in good light and the light in this watch does not back light so at night the light only illuminates the hands (not a problem for me personally). Also it would have good if the watch had the hand shift feature as other G-Shocks, but for the low purchase price cant expect everything I suppose. Also it might be tough but its also light so very comfortable to wear. And the watch has that neat auto illumination feature for night time.

Hour hand
This watch only has one flaw, the colour of the hour hand. It can be hard to find in low light and the watch light doesn’t offer much help.

Shockingly tough
Ive owned this watch for six years and its never skipped a beat.labouring, demolition work and heavy manufacturing have all just bounced off it.Swimming on holidays kakaking,mtb biking all failed to make a dent.A few negative reviews, i can only assume they got sold a fake unfortunatley.Very few things nowadays actualy do what they say on the tin but for me this has been prob the best 60 quid ive spent.Ps only just replaced the battery as a precaution but it was still going strong

This watch is just what I was looking for. I can easily see the time in dark site areas with the help of the led light button and can safely say it really is impact rezistant as it has had a few impacts with…… and tools. I love that it is not magnetic because ove had incidents before where my watch got stuck to metal beams, but not with the G-shock. I’ve yet to test the waterproof feature, but I’m sure if you were to accidentally hop in the shower with it on, it would be just fine. It is a very well built watch, sturdy and heavy-duty, yet very comfortable. It fits extremely well on the wrist and the blue-black color combo gives it an exquisite look. I enjoy wearing this watch outside of work as well because it triples as an alarm clock, a stopwatch and a timer. In addition to these features, if you’ve got family living in different time zones and find it inconvenient calculating the time differences, this watch will help u see the times in different areas. Would highly recommend!

Had it for 4 years now and wear it almost every day. It has survived working on the farm and a housebuild. A little hard to read the date sometimes when the hands are at a certain position or in bright sunlight but that’s very critical.

Light is poo
The only problem is the light which is very poor and so it’s impossible to read the digital areas at night. But it’s a well made rugged nice looking watch apart from that. Surprised that g shock would not have a decent light.

Indefinite alarm?
I was hoping that the alarm will ring indefinitely until you press a button but it just rings for a few seconds and it stops. This alarm won’t wake me up most of the times.

G-Shock name is more than enough. I am very happy with the watch and the Amazon service. The watch has red hands that looks good, although it is not easy to read the time. I do recommend this watch.

Paid just over 50 for the watch and it has a lot to offer for the price. The main concern is that even with the orange light, the watch isn’t vert legible at night (but that is to be expected with a blacked-out version). Like most G-Shock’s, the watch is quite large but it is a good option for a casual beater.

Bought as a sports watch. Very light weight and white hands are easy to read, though the digital panels are less easy. You have to angle the watch to see these. Overall a nice G-Shock though.

I’ve had this on my wrist near constantly for over a year now, and I can safely say it will stay there for a long time to come. The watch is incredibly hard wearing and shows very little sign of wear and tear, only a few faint scratches on the strap.
The only negative I’ve found is that the digital display can be difficult to read sometimes. This hasn’t really affected my impression of the watch as I bought it for it’s analogue face.
I’m seriously considering buying the watch in alternative colours now as I’m so impressed with it.
Had this watch for seven and a half years and still love it is much as the day I bought it. I do a manual job and have my hands in water multiple times a day and it’s not missed a beat. Changed the battery twice in that time so battery has a good life. Screen is almost flawless but it finally scratched when a dremel bit broke and hit it but its so small I have to look to find it. Yes the resin band has gone shiny over time and at certain times of the day the hands cover the digital display but this is the only flaw in this watch. A true testament to the toughness of this thing…. I let my baby chew it as a teething toy…. The watch took it fine…..
After 7 years this is still my go to watch for daily work (admittedly I use my ediface weekends) and still does not dissapoint…. Freaking love i

Large sturdy watch
I found the single yellowy LED at the six o’clock position rather retro, but does a good job at lighting up the analogue face in the dark. No good for using all the LCD display features in the dark tho – if you need to use the timers in the dark, go for a watch with a black glow display.
The strap is long enough for me. I have huge hands and wrists and both the watch body and the strap are the right size for me. Skinny, small-handed mortals might be better off with a smaller sized watch.
The LCD display isn’t the easiest to read, but is also very subtle. Generally, the white hands are really clear to glance at and see the time. The digital features require a bit of focus. Those people with poor short range vision might struggle.
I got this on offer at 55GBP and consider it a bargain. I’ve recently admitted to myself I do indeed need to return to wearing a watch. It’s comfortable and comes with a reputation for being sturdy; yet it’s still cheap enough that I’m not worried about wearing it all the time (chainsaws, hammers, handling livestock) – if it does get damaged, it’s affordable enough to replace. I do find I need to remove it for working out, but it does fit nicely over the end of an olympic barbell.

Don’t know mater what I did I can get it to set to London time. Even followed the YouTube video.

You’ll see people saying that the light doesn’t light up the digital display. That’s fair enough, but you can easily see those big white clock hands, so it’s not really a problem. Aside from that, this is a well made, well functioning watch which is nice and sturdy if you’re an active sort of person.

Negative first. It is hars to see. Comes with light which lights up the hands so you can always see the time and lets remember its a timekeeper so its fine but if you want to see the digital stuff youll struggle in low light. This is a fantastic watch. So many gadgets in the settings from timers to all times of the world to distance walked measurements. Only had it a week but I really like it already. Comfortable and a fair size on my big wrists, although maybe not quite as big as I was hoping. I am really liking the light option which whilst it does not illuminate the digital display it more than clearly shows the analogue hands in the dark.

I was inspired to get a G-Shock watch from my dad, who owns an older version of a G-Shock (not sure what model) and at the time he bought his at roughly 200. I thought to myself that I was going to have to save my pennies up and then I went onto Amazon and saw this and many more like this and I thought that obviously either not got the gadgets like on my dad’s watch. No! I looked through the description on all of them and most of them were similar to my dad’s watch. I was looking on a similar G-Shock watch like this and found the colour option. Wow I know it’s amazing for someone who barely knows how to use amazon!!! But anyways I had a look on the blue one and this came up and I was like OMG THIS IS THE ONE I WANT!!!!!!!! I had a look in the description, saw that it had had what I wanted and had almost everything the same as my dad’s G-Shock and bought it. When I got a van pull up and a guy get out with a parcel a bit bigger than the avaerage hand, I was super excited and it was my G-Shock watch. I set it up and by the way, no matter how many settings there wer on this watch, the owners manual was super easy to follow and the watch actually did everything perfectly! I saw my dad and he liked it a lot and we started comparing things and apart from the fact that his watch is solar powered and used daylight to charge battery and all the technical stuff our watches were practically the same! And mine was about 150 cheaper so that was a slap in the face for dad

quick review as the watch wasn’t originally bought for me but then ended up being mine before being let go.
i bought this for my son but typically both his mother and i had the same idea so i kept it for myself, it’s a typical G shock in terms of strength etc but sadly it wasn’t for me, i found the face not to be that clear, the digital displays aren’t easy to read and the busy face also reduces the legibility of the hands, consequently i let my son have it anyway and he now rotates between this and the one his mother bought which has a different colour scheme.
i’ve taken 1 star off because it didn’t work for me but it’s not necessarily a bad watch and like / dislike can often be down to personal choice rather than any fault with a watch, my son loves both of them so i’d suggest you try and actually see one in real life before buying

Fantastic watch. Easy to set up and looks great on. The watch is very light to wear and is not that big and bulky.

purchased in September 2014, used everyday in building trade from demolition to rebuild and everything inbetween, case and strap well worn and scuffed but still working fine, bezel has some tiny pits on the face but nothing that obscures the the view.

This watch is hard as nails. The light isn’t great but it’s sufficient for my needs. Typical G-shock. In 8 years when the strap is worn through… I’ll get the next one!
