Lego-Technik Kranwage
Der Lego-Kranwagen ist bei meinem Sohn voll eingeschlagen. Alle Teile waren vorhanden und super eingepackt. Innerhalb von vier Tagen wurde der Kranwagen fehlerfrei und ohne Hilfe zusammengesteckt. Nun wird er bespielt, ohne Ende.

Just got back into Lego technic after many years off from being a child.
I thought to myself I will try one of these as I quite like a challenge and the satisfaction of building something. Well what can I say about this item?! It is very detailed and looks amazing on display once built.
But it does take a while to build so be prepared! It took me around a week all in and that was putting quite a lot of time into it on a few of those days.
I would recommend this as a set to anyone who enjoys Lego and I am now going on to the slightly smaller Volvo concept which is just of as high quality!

Von Zeit zu Zeit gnne ich mir auch immer wieder ein greres Lego Technik Modell und Ich wrde sogar behaupten, dass der 42082 mit Abstand das grte und komplexeste Modell aller Zeiten ist. Jedes Steinchen ist sein Geld wert. Allein die Gre der Reifen ist imposant.
Versand ging schnell, kam im Umkarton geliefert.

This appears to be a pricey item, and indeed it is a lot to pay for something which is ‘a toy’, but, having built the model I can say that in my view it’s worth the money. Every step of the construction is illustrated in the instruction books. As you build, step by step, it is impossible not to be amazed at the ingenuity of design and the attention to detail. The vehicle axles have differential gearing: you can fiddle with it as you build and really understand how a “diff” works. The gearing built into the rest of the model allows you, once it is finished, to direct the electric motor to 5 separate functions, all of which operate in ‘forward’ and ‘reverse ‘. The functions are: raise and lower jib; extend and retract jib; raise and lower crane hook; swing jib clockwise or anti-clockwise; raise/lower stabilisers. On the box it says that there is another model you can build from the same parts, though you have to download the instructions for that from Lego’s website.
I reckon the 11+ age rating is accurate, provided that the 11 year old has patience. It took me about 12 hours, and I’m considerably older than 11.

Super Spielzeug aber nichts für Anfänge
Der Zusammenbau ist wirklich nichts fr Anfnger. Die Anleitung hat die Abmae des ehemaligen Otto Katalogs.
Wenn es zusammengebaut ist es ein top Spielzeug.
Es werden zustzliches 6 AA-Batterien bentig
Impresionante!!!! No se como lo hacen pero es increible que con un solo motor se realicen tantas funciones. Eso si, las patas traseras suben cuando las de delante bajan … Repasare el montaje para ver si me equivoque yo o si es un fallo de diseo( lo cual me extraa).

my wife got me this for xmas from our local lego shop, she said I might have fun with it ??? , little did she know I would have had so much fun with this monster of a build , this is a big and beautiful project and not for the faint hearted , just to think of the man hours that went into the development and design it boggles the mind, if you have the money and the space I would highly (actually demand) you get this simply for pleasure of watching this develop in front of your eyes and saying to yourself “I built this” , you will not be dissapointed.
Just a little bit a advice to all , follow the instructions to the letter , if in any doubt double check the placement of any pegs on the pictures that they match what you have built also check some of the more unusual pieces that they are the right way round , I speak from bitter experience as I misplaced some of the small black pegs and had some of the later stages upside down and it took a lot of swearing and rebuilding to get it sorted but in the end one of the most impressive Lego kits ever issued ( and the most challenging)
Habe den Kran fr meinen Sohn (8) und mich fr die langen Winterabende bestellt. Er kam damit ganz gut zu recht, wenn ich auch manchmal nachhelfen musste. Nun ist er fertig und beeindruckt unsere Gste mit seiner Gre und den vielen Funktionen. Lego liefert wie immer eine hervorragende Beschreibung, die nur selten Fragen offen lsst. Ich kann den Kauf nur rundherum empfehlen.
Noch ein Tipp: Bei YouTube findet man Filme, die den kompletten Bau im Schnellvorlauf zeigen. Das kann bei Problemen sehr hilfreich sein. Einfach zum Beispiel “Rough Terrain Crane – Lego Speed Build” eingeben, und schon hat man einen der Filme. Viel Spa.
Es ist Lego!
Den Kran hat mein Groer (14) zu Weihnachten bekommen. Fr zwischendurch ist es halt einfach zu teuer. Er hat 4 Tage gebaut (fast durchweg), dann war das Schmuckstck fertig. Es sind – wie blich – ein paar kleine Teile brig. Alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Gewohnte super Lego-Qualitt! (aber eben sehr teuer!)

Tolles Lego Modell
Fr den Preis ein toller Technic Bausatz. Macht spass sowohl beim Bauen als auch beim bespielen.
Man muss genaustens am anfang aufpassen da die zentrale Einheit als erste zusammengebaut wird, nderung hier im weiterem verlauf wird sehr aufwndig.
Es gibt einige Punkte, die Lego besser machen knnte (was fr mich aber keinen Punkteabzug bedeutet)
– das fahren wird nur manuell bewerkstelligt (vor/rck/li/re)
– Motor wird immer in die selbe Richtung getrieben, umschaltung ber Getriebe.
– fahrfunktion nicht einfach nachrstbar da alles mit Getriebe belegt ist.

Was soll man zu Lego sagen. Das beste Spielzeug der Welt. Unser 13 jhriger Junge hat den ganzen Tag gebraucht zum zusammenbauen, denn es sind 4000 Teile und 2 Anleitungen.
Super Qualität und super groß!
Sehr gute Lego Qualitt, wie immer. Tolle Lsungen (ein Motor fr den ganzen Kran -> viele Getriebe und Umschalter) machen den Aufbau und das sptere Spielen zu einem tollen Erlebnis. Viele Teile des Modells knnen auch mit anderen Lego Technic Sets verwendet werden.

Set a dir poco fantastico! Lo stiamo montando un po’ al giorno e ci stiamo divertendo un sacco! Siamo a met dell’opera ed incredibilmente immenso ed ingegnoso. Avevamo gi la bellissima gru della Lego 42042 ma questa la supera notevolmente (4000 pezzi contro i 1400).
Presa al momento giusto al prezzo di 154 euro siamo veramente entusiasti!
Gioco veramente consigliato e sempre motivo di ammirazione nel tempo.

Nach einigen Stunden Aufbau Zeit kann ich jetzt sagen der Kran ist sehr gut gelungen.
Man ffnet das packet welches sehr gro ist guckt rein und denkt sich ok 13 Bauabschnitte. Das gibt Tten ohne Ende dem ist nicht so wer den Schaufelradbagger gebaut hat hat deutlich mehr Tten erlebt was mich erstaunt hat, das man dennoch fr die ersten 2 Bauabschnitte sehr viel Zeit bentigt.
Der erste Abschnitt beschftigt sich mit dem unterem Getriebe zum heben/senken der sttzen und die Drehung.
Wenn man die Zahnrder nicht zu fest zieht luft hier alles sehr flssig.
Einzig beim Ausleger habe ich ein leichtes ruckeln feststellen knnen.
Die sttzen knnten auch ein Tick grer sein bzw. die unterlegen hher um hier den Kran auch wirklich anzuheben. Dies ist aber meckern auf hohem Niveau.
Sehr schnes Model und auch sein Geld werd klare kaufempfehlung.
Wieder ein sehr gelungenes Produk
Habe mir wie jedes Jahr zu Weihnachten wieder ein Lego Technik Bausatz geschenkt.
Fande es wieder sehr schn das zusammen zu bauen.
Fr einen elf jhrigen ist es kniffelig aber lsbar.
Finde den Kran sehr stabil und auch noch mit voll ausgefahrenem Arm ist er noch super standest.
Von daher kann ich nur volle Punktzahl geben.

Dieser LEGO-Baukasten war ein Geschenk fr meinen 11-jhrigen Enkel. Mein Enkel und ich haben diesen Kranwagen gemeinsam in 1,5 Tagen montiert. Fr meinen Enkel ist das schon Gewohnheit, fr mich war es das erste Mal, dass ich mit LEGO Technik gebaut habe. Ich habe mich etwas schwer getan mit den vielen kleinen Teilen.
Der Kran ist gut und funktioniert einwandfrei. Ich htte mir aber noch 2 Verkleidungen fr Zahnrder gewnscht, die offen zugnglich sind. Desweiteren habe ich erwartet, dass die Sttzen den Kran anheben und die Achsen entlasten. Weiterhin wre es schn, wenn der Ausleger in Ruhestellung waagerecht wre und eine Auflage htte.
Ansonsten schn konstruiert – ist sein Geld wert und ein pdagogisch wertvolles Spielzeug.
Fr eine teurere Variante wre auch eine Steuerung ber Fernbedienung reizvoll und die Mglichkeit, den Wagen mit Motor(en) fahren zu lassen.

Dopo aver visto la scala di questo modello e ogni sua funzione, mi sono promesso di acquistarlo. E finalmente durante il Black Friday ne sono entrato in possesso.
Questa grande Gru il set Technic pi grande realizzato da Lego. Ha un rapporto tra prezzo e numero di parti ottimo. Come al solito gli ingegneri Lego hanno fatto un bel lavoro con dei dettagli incredibili.
Non il primo set Technic che costruisco ma non stata una passeggiata. Per montarlo ho impiegato circa 13 ore di lavoro divise in 5 giornate. Bisogna stare attenti ad ogni singola parte, potrebbe essere molto stressante accorgersi di aver messo male dei pezzi e dover quindi ricontrollare tutto…
Nel modello vengono utilizzate molte tecniche costruttive utili e vantaggiose che gli Afol potranno utilizzare per creare le proprie Moc. Gli ingranaggi che sono mossi dal grande motore Lego danno alla gru movimenti e potenza per poter alzare pesi tosti!
La fase costruttiva non stata mai noiosa un set incredibile, grandioso complesso bello da mettere in mostra e interessante da far funzionare. In qualunque parte lo posizionerete far sempre parlare di se.
Roba seria
Dedicato a chi ha una vera passione per la sezione Technic di Lego. Impegnativo e davvero ben fatto. Come altri modelli di questo calibro richiede molta attenzione ai dettagli durante le varie fasi della costruzione.

Also alles in allem ein super geiles Set. Aufbau macht Spass und man hat sehr viele Funktionen die einwandfrei funktionieren. Sehr gelungen.
Zu den Leuten die Probleme mit Zahnrdern haben kann ich nur sagen es gibt keine! Entweder haben sie beim Aufbau was falsch gemacht oder das ntige Feingefhl fehlt um die Zahnrder leicht drehen zu lassen. Also ich kann die negativen Rezessionen nicht verstehen. Lego weiter so mit solch dicken Set mit vielen Funktione

Like the title suggests, it’s another great Technic flagship. The build is satisfactory, long and the end result is fantastic and very rewarding!
This is a great set. It offers a splendid combination of complexity (4000 pieces is not easy to assemble) and the end product. Power features are really great, I am pleased to see so many things you can do with them.
One minor drawback is the B model which is not as good as it could have been.
Enormous crane!
A bit repetitive at times while building but the result is a massive good looking crane with motorised functions that is fun to play with or just look at on a shelf.
Sammle so einige Lego Sets. Je nachdem was mir so gefllt wird dann auch gekauft. Dieses Set viel da mit rein. Man hat einiges an Bauspa und das schne daran es luft ber power function! Das Aufbauen dauert ein wenig aber wenn man sich zeit lsst, hat man nach der Arbeit gut 3-4 Abende was zu tun. Klasse Model! Leider und deshalb ziehe ich 1 Stern ab, es sind wieder zu viele Aufkleber, wre schn, wenn lego bei solchen Modellen wieder auf Aufgedruckte Steine gehen wrde. Klar ist aber auch, Lego macht es nicht, da nicht alle Sammler sind und auch was anderes drau bauen wollen. Ich finds aber mit Aufklebern nicht so toll.
A great large technic build
Hard to put down when you start very addictive, but a great build to do.
J’utilise ce produit pour mon plaisir personnel (j’ai 67 ans). J’aime le montage des lments pour avoir au final une structure plaisante.
Je ne prends que des modles de minimum 1500 pices, de faon faire dur le plaisir du montage.
Quel bonheur de voir fonctionn et animer le modle aprs avoir pass des heures l’assembler.
J’en suis au cinquime modle, et avec toujours au temps de plaisir.

Chi l ha detto che i lego technic sono giocattoli per soli bambini??? Questa Gru semplicemente fantastica… Oltre 4000 pezzi e pi di 650 pagine di semplici e dettagliate istruzioni! Spero che la lego proponga altri “progetti” simili adatti anche ai pi grandi!
La gru davvero bella.. montanta in 2 settimane. Funziona perfettamente, ma richiede grande attenzione nell’assemblaggio.. metto 4 stelle solo perch mi manca un braccetto del gancio che purtroppo non ho trovato nella confezione, ma che ho richiesto alla lego tramite il servizio “pezzi mancanti”

… c’est le premier mot qui me vient l’esprit avec ce set.
J’ai en ma possession plusieurs des gros sets Technics de ces dernires annes, dont le Mercedes-Benz Arocs (42043) qui tait dj un trs gros set, mais cette grue est vritablement dantesque.
La phase de montage est un vrai bonheur pour qui aime le genre, et c’est toujours aussi passionnant de voir ce dont les designer de LEGO sont capables. N’tant ni ingnieur, ni mcano, je suis peut tre facile impressionner, mais il faut reconnatre que de nombreuses fois pendant la phase de montage, je me suis fait la rflexion que ces personnes taient vritablement gniales ^^.
Le moteur tant plac sur la partie haute de la grue, la transmission vers la partie basse est trs bien vue. N’ayant pas de modle quivalent dans ma collection, je ne sais pas si cela avait dj t fait, mais le systme de rotation est lui aussi trs bien trouv.
J’aime beaucoup l’aspect imposant et solide
La documentation, en deux livrets, est toujours aussi dtaille et facile suivre, mais comme l’a dit un autre client avant moi, il faut faire bien attention, il est facile de louper une tape, or sur un modle comme celui-ci, c’est synonyme de revenir en arrire et tout refaire ou presque.
Il est dommage de n’avoir qu’un moteur, j’aurais aim ce prix l avoir une version tlcommandable, mme si je ne vois pas comment tout cela aurait t intgr.
Encore un trs trs bon set, mme si le prix est consquent, le seul point ngatif c’est la place que tout cela prend… me femme regarde toujours d’un mauvais oeil l’arrive d’un nouveau set de cette taille ^^.
Wer kennt sie nicht, die tollen Lego-steine und der wunderschne Verpackungskarton. ich habe heute aus dem zu groen berkarton also mein Schmuckstck ausgepackt und stellte fest, der Baukasten war voll in Luftpolsterfolie eingepackt. So weit so gut, musste dann jedoch mit Entsetzen feststellen, da der “mir unverstndliche Verpackungsknstler” die Luftpolsterfolie mit ca 5cm breitem Klebeband an mehreren Stellen am Legokarton festgeklebt hatte. ich hatte keine Mglichkeit dieses Klebeband zerstrungsfrei runter zu bekommen – leider sieht Die Verpackung jetzt dementsprechend aus. ich gebe aber trotzdem max Sterne weil das Produkt top ist.
Hammer für Kids auch ab 9 Jahre
Hat meinem Sohn viel Spa gemacht das Ding zusammen zu bauen. Als er einige Schwierigkeiten hatte, ahebn wir Teile zusammen gemacht. So ein richtiges “Vater- Sohn Ding.”

A superb model to build, but can be tricky at times. All functions worked correctly first time without tweaking. The kit contained the correct number of parts.
Bad packaging
Lego bricks as always are great, but the way of packing should be different.
The tape which should stick the protective film was stuck to the box of Lego. It could not be removed without box damaging.
I orderer bricks as a gift so it should not look like this.

Spdizione arrivata due giorni in anticipo e ben imballata,un gran bel set,pi di 4000 pezzi,libretto delle istruzioni ben fatto alla fine ci si trova fra le mani un modello notevole,il braccio della gru una volta esteso lungo un metreo;la ho acquistata durante il cyber monday con un ottimo sconto e sono estremamente soddisfatto.
Mega Aufbauvergnüge
Spitzen Lego Technik Modell, sehr gute Konstruktion. Der Aufbauspa ist vollkommen.
Hier hat Lego nicht nur ein Modell mit den meisten Teilen auf den Markt gebracht, sondern es ist funktionstechnisch sehr vielseitig. Die Unterkonstruktion, also das Fahrzeug selbst ist richtig stabil. Mittels Allradlenkung manvriert sich der Kran perfekt. Auch die ausfahrbaren Sttzen sind recht ntzlich. Legt man noch zwei zustzliche Legoplatten unter die die einzelnen “Fe”, stemmt der Motor ber die Sttzen das gesamte Fahrzeug hoch. Damit steht das Modell perfekt.
Ebenfalls ist der Kranausleger stabil und bietet so einen wirklich Spielspass. Als kleines Gimmick wurden noch die vier Seiten eines Fertighauses beigefgt, dieses kann nun mittels Kran aufgebaut werden.
Nur dem zweiten Modell, welches sich blicherweise bauen lsst, mangelt es total an Funktionalitt. Deshalb auch nur vier Sterne. Beim Umbau bleibt der komplette fahrbare Untersatz erhalten. Es wird lediglich der Kranaufsatz neu aufgebaut. Der nun entstehende Fallhammer ist jedoch von seiner Funtion eher langweilig und zudem sehr wackelig konstruiert.
Alles in allem berzeugt allerdings der Gesamteindruck. Kaufempfehlung fr alle Legotechnikfans und die, die es noch werden wollen!
Vorneweg, ich bin kein Legospieler. Ich baue die Modelle auf und dann werden diese fein suberlich ins Regal zum angucken gestellt :-).
Mit diesem Kran hat sich Lego meiner Meinung nach selbst bertroffen. Ich habe eigentlich alle groen Legotechnikmodelle angefangen vom 42009 Kran ber den Arocs, Porsche und Schaufelradbagger und viele mehr. Jedes dieser Modelle hat sein eigenes besonderes und ist eben einzigartig und durchdacht. Mit dem Lego Kran 42082 hat Lego meiner Meinung nach noch mal einen drauf gesetzt. Sicher, man kann nun philosophieren ber das grte und Bausteinreichste Legotechnikmodell der Welt (Stand 11/2018) aber dieses wurde in anderen Kanlen schon oft genug getan. Das Modell ist natrlich sehr gro und wirkt beeindruckend wenn es fertig aufgebaut ist. Aber dennoch hat es Lego geschafft mit kleinen feinen Details das besondere hervorzuheben. Beispielsweise gibt es kleine Werkzeugkisten mit Werkzeug oder einen Feuerlscher, dieses finde ich sehr gut, weil es eben der Baustelle sehr nahe kommt. Der Aufbau geht sehr flssig voran, die Tten sind sehr gut beschriftet und es gibt keine Teile, die man in weiteren Schritten braucht. So minimiert man die Fehlerquote und findet die Teile schneller, wenn man Schritt fr Schritt geht.

Fr mich ist dieser Bausatz eines der Highlights in der Lego Technic Welt. Der Kranwagen ist riesig, der Aufbau dauert viele Stunden und macht vom ersten bis zum letzten Bauschritt richtig Spa. Die Funktionen sind toll umgesetzt. Technic Fans knnen hier beherzt zugreifen, zumal das Preis/Teile Verhltnis wirklich gut ist (aktuell 174 fr ber 4000 Teile). Weiter so, Lego!

Price wise they are a very considered purchase and one which at over two hundred pounds would strike fear into anyone’s heart. Would make an excellent Christmas gift for a very special person or a very significant birthday gift. There re many older models of Lego technical range gifts out there which are cheaper as they are aging and might be more appropriate price wise. If your looking to blow someone’s mind believe me this gift would do exactly….it doesn’t disappoint.
Care and attention to detail are spot one, quality control and excellence second to none, price very very considered purchase.

Complex, not for the faint hearted, but worth the effo
This is by far the most complex of these that my son-in-law has worked on with my grandson. We thought it couldn’t be difficult, but it certainly was. It took them two weeks, including the whole of half term, but they managed to make it. Whatever the age range indicated, this is hard, even for my 45-year-old aeronautical engineer son-in-law. Set aside a lot of time, but be prepared to marvel at the result, a working model with all the strength you would expect. If you can finish in one go, that would be easiest, but not always feasible.
There are 5 powered functions included, using only one at a time, but they all work as promised. This is a real Lego Technic challenge and at the reduced price of 183.99 (at the time of writing) it is value for money.
Not for the faint hearted its a nice model well thaught out and strong…

Ik ben 50 jaar en JA, speel nog steeds met lego. In de jaren is lego technik duidelijk veranderd van kwestbare simpele modelletjes waar je niet echt mee kon spelen, naar stevige echt werkende modellen.
Alles werkt naar behoren en draait soepel en licht.
Lots of fun to build
This crane takes ages to build, which is great. The build is subdivided into 13 sections with parts in labelled bags which makes the build more manageable. The instructions are clear and the crane is fun to play with and works well when completed.
Large Crane
I did not realise how large this was going to be. See my attached photo showing the build dimensions. Also if you are getting this as a surprise present make sure you have a big cupboard or space in the loft to hide it. It’s a very large Lego Technic crane. It will take a few weeks to complete. It does nor come with batteries. As usual with Lego it’s a great challenging building kit that once built will be great to play with or display.
Pour moi, il s’agit du plus bel ensemble Lego que j’ai construit jusqu’ ce jour, et j’en ai construit quelques-uns (prs de 30.000 pices dans ma collection).
Le rendu final est tout simplement magnifique, trs dtaill, et ultra-fonctionnel. Je teste actuellement avec mes enfants quelle charge maximale cette grue peut soulever XD, et c’est plutt pas mal, environ 1kg test jusqu’ maintenant (mais la flche de la grue tire franchement la tronche XD)
Superbe set Lego, on ne dirait pas comme a mais la grue est gigantesque, a peu prs la taille de mon pc de 17″.
La conception est norme, pas de gros vide dans la structure compar d’autres sets, la motorisation des fonctions est impressionnant avec une bote en H pour la slection des fonctions.
Un jouet aussi bien pour les grands que pour les petits, mme si ces derniers auront du mal a le monter (j’ai mis 8h et je suis un grand habitu des technics)
When I was a youngster, Lego was a few different shaped bricks in various colours which hurt if you stood on them without shoes on and with which you could make various things that looked a bit like what they were supposed to be.
Some time in the early 1970s, I actually came third in a Lego competition run by our local toy shop (remember them…?) and had my ‘ship’ (it looked nothing like a ship really) displayed with the other entries in their window for a couple of weeks. Marvellous.
Lego these days looks a bit more high tech (he said, with huge understatement) and this crane is absolutely incredible. My first thought on opening the massive box was that it reminded me of the Meccano of my youth, but far more detailed.
As my fellow reviewers have said, it takes all but a whole day (ie 24 hours) to build, and in my case, this was spread over a week of evenings. It’s not complicated, and comes with great instructions, but it is simply very labour intensive.
The resulting model looks magnificent and, having recently seen what must be a similarly enormous crane in real life lifting a new road bridge section into place, it’s very realistic.
I know it’s expensive, but if you can afford it, I’m sure you’re going to be very happy indeed. My only caveat is once it’s assembled, you’re going to need enough space to keep it, and if it’s on display somewhere, keeping it free of dust will prove challenging.
As a final thought, the fun for me of Lego was that you could make lots of different things with the same bricks. This helped to stimulate the minds of youngsters and in my case led firstly to Airfix kits, on to model railways and eventually a lifetime involved in engineering of one sort and another. Is it possible with models such as this, brilliant though it is, that the original concept has lost its way a bit?
But regardless of that, this kit is fantastic and I’ve no hesitation in recommending it to you.
Stretching the limits of Technic
The biggest Technic set yet, which was enough to get me over-excited, but not necessarily the best set yet. From the front of the box it just looks like a bigger crane, and I was prepared for it to be a rather underwhelming experience.
I should have trusted the Technic team better, as this is a doozy. A 360-degree turntable, five motor functions from a single large motor, and a one metre boom. And with a single motor that means a LOT of gears to direct the motion and step it down.
The five motor functions are: outrigger, turntable, boom extension, boom raise & lower and hook raise & lower.
There is also manual control of the four-wheel steering.
What a beauty to build, and when finished a beauty to behold.
The instructions have well over 1,000 steps, but as usual it is sufficiently modular for you to shop and start over several days. There are 13 bags of pieces, each for a specific stage of the construction.
The gearbox is fiddly, and needs close attention, and throughout the build there are challenges, but it is no more difficult than the other large sets. Mostly it is just a joy at the design solutions the Technic team have come up with, especially the huge powered turntable.
All that said, this is not the best Technic set yet, but it IS one of them. I personally can’t choose between this and the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 (set 42043) with its amazing pneumatics. They can’t really be compared as they are different beasts using different technical solutions.

A Wonderful Opportunity For Parents And Children Alike
Things have definitely progressed since my childhood Lego days, that’s for sure! If I’d been given a kit this enormous when I was a kid I think I’d have literally exploded with joy.
With over four thousand individual pieces and labelled as suited for anyone over 11 years of age, this is a kit that will, in many instances, be purchased by parents for themselves, to re-visit happy childhood memories. It would actually make a wonderful project for parents and children to tackle together, giving them quality time to bond and providing valuable learning opportunities for the child.
Happily, stress levels are likely to be kept under control because the kit has been very thoughtfully put together. A large and comprehensive build manual is included, and the project divided into smaller build stages, with pieces for each stage separately bagged. It helps overcome the shorter attention span of younger constructors, and makes this an enjoyable task to spread over a week or so – ideal for the Christmas or a holiday period.
I do like the attention to detail, and your child will learn a lot from building this kit. Not only about manual dexterity, reading, following instructions, the importance of attention to detail, spatial awareness and so on, but also about the mechanics of the object modelled. It contains a motor with power take-off for various functions like extending the crane and lowing the stabilisers, just like a real crane would. And there’s a moving model of the engine too, and four wheel steering.
Finishing this kit will certainly give you a sense of achievement and pride, which are wonderful things for kids to experience. It can give them great confidence and teach them the valuable life lesson that even huge and apparently daunting tasks can be overcome and mastered with a bit of effort and perseverance. And if they have a taste for more, the kit can even be broken down and re-configured into a pile driver too, with the downloadable instructions from Lego.
This kit is larger in size than the Chiron model, and over a hundred pounds cheaper too, plus you get two kits for the price of one. So although it might at first seem expensive, when you consider these things, and all the educational benefits too, it really is very good value for money I think. And what price do you put on quality time with your child? Build this with them and it will be something they remember doing with you for the rest of their lives.
Lego heaven for Lego enthusiasts
This is for my son who is a big lego fan. I did not realise just how big this rough terrain crane is.
The design is superb (whoever designed this deserves a pay rise) the parts and instructions are terrific.
I have not given it to him yet but have had a good inspection and know a lot about it from the reviews from folks who seem to me to be real Lego experts. Over 4000 pieces – wow!.
Already the price has come down – on Amazon – which is great for fans.

My son (adult) absolutely loves Lego Technic and this set will join his collection. It is the biggest set so far that Lego has produced and is awesome. Moving parts, motor, huge crane, more than 4,000 bits and an instruction book to read long into the night – what more could you possibly want ? This should satisfy the desires of the most ardent Lego enthusiast and would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone. Quite challenging, but quite brilliant!
Biggest Technic set to date... stunning build!
This is one of the biggest Lego Technic sets to date, since the Bucket Excavator and the Crane. It includes a large motor that operates the crane and the V8 4 wheel terrain vehicle piston. This has so much in it and truly is a technical masterpiece.
My son was thrilled when we were offered this item for review, as he has had most of the Technic sets and he really wanted this one, so it came as an early Christmas gift. It is a challenge and a half with a huge manual at over 600 pages and over 4000 pieces of lego.
The set comes with the various pieces in separate bags as usual and the build is split into stages as most builds are, so it follows the usual format.
My son is 15 and I think he will take several hours to complete this over several days… It is a huge build! My son is able to do most of these builds on his own, but I imagine anyone younger than 12/13 may need a little extra help. It is certainly a build that any Lego fan could take pleasure in and it will look stunning when completed… it’s just finding where to keep it after!!

One of the largest Technic models ever produced by Lego, this kit contains a record 4057 pieces. This is a superb model but very complex to build to not for the faint hearted. This kit is amazing.
The design and engineering in this is second to none, the instructions are clear and concise, over 650 pages running through two books. There are thirteen build stages each of which contains multiple bags of Lego.
The box is enormous, it came through Anazon and was impressively packed by Amazon so the box arrived in pristine condition, but the poor delivery man really struggled to get it up the garden path it is so heavy.
I would calculate that this would take my son or son-in-law a full weekend to build but they are experienced Technic builders. This is a challenge to build but a a wonderful one and a breathtaking piece of kit and so impressive when complete. If I could give ten stars I would. Fantastic.
The biggest Technic set eve
I’m a huge fan of LEGO, particularly Technic. There are 4057 pieces in this model – this is the first Technic set to crack the 4000 piece mark, so in terms of number of bits, this is the biggest there has ever been. This becomes obvious as soon as you see the box – it’s huge; even bigger than the boxes for sets like the Bugatti Chiron. The instructions run to over 650 pages in two books, and there are 13 build stages, each of which has multiple bags of parts. I should mention that a subset of the part bags are provided in a second box inside the main one, which is glued shut with no obvious means of opening it – you’ll need a thin knife to get into it! Also, for anyone with OCD – the box of this set is so big and heavy that it is unlikely to survive being sent through the post without the odd scuff – if you want a perfect box, buy it in a LEGO shop.
There is a single Power Functions motor and battery box included, but by the ingenious use of multiple gearboxes and clutches, it controls a bewildering array of functions – raising and lowering the jib, extending and retracting it, winding the load up and down, and extending and retracting the stability feet. In some ways, it’s an excellent representation of how a real-life crane would work, which could use a single engine for all of this with similar gearing. There are lots of other realistic features, like an engine with moving pistons and four-wheel steering. In terms of overall complexity, this is up there with the Ultimate sets like the Chiron and the 911 GT3. The set can also be used to build a mobile pile-driver – as is the norm for this, you need to download the instructions for the second model as a PDF from the LEGO website. (One nice feature of the pile-driver model is that it re-uses the entire chassis of the crane; you just need to remove the crane itself from the wheeled base, and rebuild the crane section on top of the same base – it makes building the second model much easier as you don’t have to dismantle all of the crane first!)
In terms of build time, I reckon it would take an experienced builder somewhere in the region of 15 hours – you get the usual clear LEGO instructions, and the sorted bags of parts make life easier than it would otherwise be, but some of the assembly, particularly in the (very complex) gearbox is challenging. Really not a set for beginners, but for anyone who has built something like the Chiron or the bucket wheel excavator and is looking for a new challenge, you won’t do better than this hugely impressive model.

I know nothing whatever about Lego Technic products, but even I can see that this is a superlative and beautiful piece of kit. My son and grandson, who do know about them, are in seventh heaven putting it together and have tried to convey that joy to me, as they work their way through each separate aspect of the building process. This is a very complex and detailed build, with over 4000 pieces. The thought that has clearly gone into it, and the attention to detail, is breathtaking. You need patience, care and attention, but at the end you will have an amazing toy that is absolutely worth the time and effort. This would make an amazing gift for anyone you love who is into this kind of thing. As someone who has not graduated beyond building Ikea furniture, I am definitely suffering from Lego envy. It is spectacular…

Die Funktionen sind wie beschrieben leider muss etwas hin und her geschaltet werden um den Kran komplett auszufahren.

Impressive site when buil
An outstanding build and so impressive with the boom fully extended
comme disent les ados ou grands jeunes de nos jours, que cette imposante grue motorise.
Lego annonce “le modle le plus imposant de la marque” avec ses 4100 pices. J’aime prendre mon temps et le montage s’est tal gentiment sur plus de deux semaines (sympa la retraite : 2 heures chaque matin).
L’engin est massif et dmontre une fois plus le dsir (ou celui des clients) de s’loigner des “chteaux des courants d’air” de certains modles plus anciens. Cela dit, il semblerait que les puristes aiment voir les engrenages comme on explore une montre suisse.
Cette grue est solide, la densit de pices assez hallucinante. Aucune erreur permise sur une notice en deux parties de 650 pages.
Tout fonctionne parfaitement bien. Le dploiement des stabilisateurs et la rotation de la grue sont un peu lents mais, avec un seul moteur dans la partie grue, ceci explique cela. Dans la vraie vie, on n’installe pas une telle machine en 1 minute. La grue est monte sur une “roulement galet” constitu des couronnes hrites de l’excavatrice de mine de 2016. Ce n’est pas tranger sa stabilit.
Avec ses 1 m de haut la flche impressionne et se dplie assez vite. Le panneau commande suprieur inspir de celui de la grue 42042 offre les deux sens de fonctionnement. Cela vite de ttonner sur le sens de rotation du moteur. Une manette permet de distribuer la force motrice sur la partie grue ou le vhicule. C’est logique, on n’utilise jamais une grue en roulant (sauf dans Terminator 3, mais c’est une autre histoire :o))
Le design est magnifique, la ralisation robuste, le montage passionnant, bref que du bonheur une fois de plus.
Nota : lors des essais, j’ai eu cependant un “bug” ! Lors de l’expansion, ou inversement, de la flche secondaire crmaillre, l’arrive en bute (dans les deux sens) provoquait la sortie de la partie mle de l’un des cardans (photo 1). C’est assez logique, mais je passe sur l’explication (une histoire de couple dans les engrenages).
Pour celles ou ceux qui auraient aussi ce problme : une solution simple (photo 2). Il suffit d’inverser l’ordre de pose des engrenages lors des oprations 855 et 857 de la notice 2). L’axe incrimin est alors directement en lien avec l’engrenage possdant un frein de protection et a marche au poil (Photo 2). Les deux pices tant de mme diamtre et de mme denture, il n’y a aucune diffrence de fonctionnement. La modification est accessible sans trop de difficults mme en fin de montage.

Auch fr ltere “Kinder” ein super Spa zum aufbauen. Gute Bilder-Anleitung. Auch wenn man ein Teil vergessen hat bekommt man es irgendwie rein.
Grue magnifique. Montage agrable bien que rptitif pour certaines parties. Mais elle vaut le coup.

There were more stickers than I have encountered in previous models but that isn’t a bad thing, for example the oil filter has a warning sticker on it. But overall worth 159.00, its worth noting prices fluctuate on Amazon, and it may go down or up, but seeing the RRP is 229 you are getting a lot of technic for your money.
The two book approach is better than one I got from the bucket excavator, breaking the books up strangely makes you feel it goes on for longer. The sections as always show what part your creating, whether that be the engine, out riggers or pivot section for the crane, and they all slot together seamlessly to produce one mother of a model.
Glad I got it, will leave it up for a while and then build the pile driver model in a few months….

Insgesamt hat das Modell ein super Design, von auen sind kaum bunte Verbinder zu erkennen. Im Blick von unten kann man dabei aber durch die Farben viele Funktionen einfach erkennen. Eine schne Kombination.
Das Modell ist insgesamt sehr stabil gebaut beim hochheben bewegt sich kaum etwas, herrlich.
Nach den 4000 Steinen tun auch mir die Finger weh aber das wars wert.
Sehr schnes Geschenk fr jemanden der sich dafr interessiert. Allein fr den Aufbau bentigt man mehrere Tage. Faszinierend ist die Technik der beweglichen Teile.
Ich hab erst vor wenigen Wochen mit Lego-Technic angefangen und bin lteren Jahrgangs. Mein letztes Projekt war der Schaufelradbagger. Der war schon Spitze. Aber der Schwerlastkran bertrifft alles. Einziger kleiner Schwachpunkt: Die ersten 4 Ausbaustufen sind sehr langwierig, da viele Kleinteile verbaut werden mssen und Bauteile teilweise doppelt zusammengebaut werden mssen. Das reicht aber nicht fr einen Punktabzug.
Bei der Altersangabe habe ich so meine Bedenken, ob ein 11-jhriger ohne Untersttzung den Zusammenbau bewltigen kann. Alles Weitere ist hier schon gesagt worden.
Von mir daher volle 5 Sterne!
This one of the largest Technic model Lego have produced, with no less than 4057 pieces. It is an excellent model both to build (about 22 hours build time) and excellent play value. It is quite a complex build but you are rewarded with a large, very detailed model with realistic operating. Great fun!

Also ist kann mich den anderen eigentlich nur anschlieen, preis Leistung ist momentan unschlagbar.
Der Aufbau dauert bei ber 4000 steinen dementsprechend lange und macht viel Spass.
Ich habe mir das Set gleich 2 mal gekauft, eins fr mich und eins zum verschenken was bei jedem jungen super ankommt.
Yes, it’s the biggest Technic set ever. But I am disappointed with it. The mobile crane 42009 is still the best Lego crane set. Why am I disappointed with this set? There is no suspension. Not fully RC for such a pricey set. Boring repetitive build. No new pieces.
