This fitted my very old, same-brand cat flap that I bought over 20 years ago, making it very easy to install in the preexisting hole. Does what it says on the tin.

Works well.
Hubby installed this with no fuss. We did take the magnetic strip of as it wasn’t working well with our cats and chihuahua. No faults. Works well as used continously 24/7 with 4 cats and 1 pup.

Does what I needed it to do.
I used this item to enhance a hole drilled through my garage door which allows me to pass through the charging lead for my electric car. When not charging the magnetic flap adds to the weather protection for the door.

Good basic catflap
An exact replacement for one we have had for nearly 10 years. We only needed the flap part as the previous one got cracked, but you tend to pay as much for a part as you would the whole thing. Would be nice if the manufacturers would provide an extra one as a back up.

Think I'm on my fourth one of these now!
I’ve not given this 5 stars because the flap seems to break every 12 to 18 months – however my dog likes to stick his head through this quite a lot which I’m sure doesn’t help! Once a few years ago I locked the flap so that I could capture my boy cat and take him to the vets. He doesn’t like the vets. He ran straight at the flap full pelt and broke it – leaving an almost cartoon like cat shaped hole! Don’t worry, I somehow managed to catch him as he scrambled up the garden fence.

I keep on buying this same type of cat flap as it fits the hole in my glass patio door perfectly and I think for the price this offers reasonable value.

Small opening but had included tunnel for uovc door.
This is quite a basic catflap but its quite a basic price level. Ots important plus side is having the included tunnel which is essential for fittingn in to the solid bottom panel of a common double glazed upvc door. The tunnel was ‘ just ‘ long enough for my ‘average’ door. The downside is that it really is a small opening and only suitable for a small or fit cat. A fat cat will no be suited.

Check on the size
Quite small. I thought these were a standard size. Check before you buy as a large cat couldn’t use this

Purfect replacement for existing model.
One of my cats managed to try and propel himself through the old flap that was locked at the time – it being -4 or 5 outside the old flap was a little brittle and cracked near a hinge. Searching online for a replacement flap soon proved more expensive than replacing the whole unit (shame on Staywell for making and selling them in this way – they should be looking to reduce plastic use, not encourage it!). This one was ordered and delivered within Amazon’s standards and was quickly fitted in place of the damaged unit. What was nice to see, is that the dimensions had not been tweeked to cause problems fitting it with the new one being some 5 years older than the old.

With the basic four way control it works as expected (our cats are supremely capable of shedding a collar with a magnetic key and the risk of battery failure on a sensor type not something I would welcome) there is no problem with the cats using it.

Broken after a month.
The cat flap was really easy to fit and worked quite well. Unfortunately after being used for a month the plastic flap has broken and fell off. I have contacted the company but had no response. I have now bought a better quality cat flap instead. My advice would be to save your money.

Fit the larger size if possible.
Instructions easy to follow on flat door surfaces. Fairly difficult on more sturdier doors.

Good brand but could do with being stronger.
I like this brand and I’ve had a number of these cat flaps. This new one is not the same size as previous ones which is really annoying because the previous one was a bit larger and it was the same brand, however this time I had to make more holes in the door and mess around to try and make it fit and used part of the old catflap which is the same make so I wasn’t best pleased. The mechanism for keeping them in or out could do with being a little stronger because all my cats have eventually managed to break it. It would be much better if it wasn’t plastic and the magnetic bit has come off in the past. I’d like a manufacturer to make one that was a bit stronger. They need to be consistent with size – I don’t want to have to buy a new door with my new cat flap or have to do a major DIY job and repaint the door to make it fit!

Well made, easy to fit, cat now comes and goes as he pleases.
Cat comes in and out, flap stays nicely closed with the magnetic strip, lock is effective and reliable. All good. Easy to install with paper template cutting guide and all screws that are needed.

Bought for my mums cat to go into her new house
It was fitted by the company who was fitting the door
The only issue was it was a little stiff at the beginning and the cat struggled to go out but could get in ok

Bit flimsy but does the job
Works perfectly with four different modes – completely open, completely locked, out only and in only. All of which is achieved by turning the red dial.
A star off though as after my cat rushing through an unlocked door too many times, it cracked before the door eventually gave up and fell off. On the plus side, it’s cheap enough and easy enough to replace. Not sure it would withstand an insistent cat determined to get out it when it’s locked. If I’m having to keep my cat in for whatever reason, I lock it then place something in front of it so he can’t force his way through.

As described.
Bought this to replace a very similar old one which had broken with time. Decent sturdy quality which is as described in the advert. Please note, I’ve given it 5 stars in the easy to install section as the hole was already in the door, as such set up took seconds with a few screws that come provided. If you don’t have a hole in your door already then you’ll need to sort that before buying this….

Stops giraffes
Finally, a catflap that stops giraffes! Our last catflap let in a terrible giraffe but this new one doesn’t let in any giraffes at all. We live in a Victorian house with original sash windows so have giraffes everywhere but now we have one less source of giraffes.
The cats can get in and out no problem and the locking mechanism is simple to use. They were a bit suspicious at first, but that’s cats for you. The opening is smaller than our last fatclap but they soon got used to it. I’m sure that the smaller orifice contributes to stopping the giraffes so I wouldn’t call it a design fault.
I’m off to enjoy our giraffe free kitchen.

Rosie's favourite flap
Bought as a direct replacement as the other was getting a bit tatty now and we cannot have our Rosie walking through a tatty flap. Wouldn’t use anything other than these as they are good value, easy to install and with a simple but very useful and effective locking system.

If Rosie is happy then so are we. 😉

Cats love i
Bought to replace cat flap chewed by our previous dog. Very pleased with flap so far. Locking lot better than previous flap as very strong, cats cannot just move lock like previous flap. As picture. So far so good.

Good value cat flap.
Easy to install. Very good quality and excellent value. Draught proofing could be a little more effective. Works well for our four geriatric cats and large enough for our 6kg tabby to get through. However, have now replaced it with an automated RF cat flap to prevent unwanted guests.

Very good, basic, no frills but lockable cat flat. Bought to replace the electric chip recognition version when we moved house. Fitted the old hole in the door perfectly and the screw holes lined up too. Very happy customer.

I only use stay well flaps!
One of the best brands in my view, sturdy/ pleasing to the eye and just good quality
The only reason I purchased this item is because I was having the room re modelled and my old one of these was 10 years old and grubby, thought if I’m having the room done out fresh with everything new, may aswell change this too, however the old one looked grubby but was 10 years old and intact/ nothing broken, that’s why I went with a direct replacement from stay well

Fits perfectly in a PVC door. If you are looking for durability this probably isn’t it. I am sending a similar one back for the same problem which meant my old one broke – if you have older cats who are strong they will literally just barge through the unit if you lock it. I used to keep my cats in at night so they dont stray or fight but they decided to go out anyway and left this in pieces. The only thing that stops them doing this is the magnetic strip is way too strong so they assume it’s locked and start pulling the whole thing apart trying to get out. I take the magnetic strip away and it still functions as a cat flap but is a bit rattly

Good uni
Bought to replace an identical one which was destroyed by our dog (German Shredder).
Fitted the original hole without modification.
I did note however that the design has changed very slightly over the 15+ years that the current one had been fitted. There are strengthening pieces moulded into the original one, which were not in the new one.
I will happily stick with this brand however as you can buy parts direct, and they are cheap and fast.
Only lost one star as the “durable” from the title is probably less true than it was.

I always look to buy this cat flap!!
I really like this cat flap. I fitted one in my front door. Because it’s so good, I bought one for my mother-in-law’s back door, which I fitted. She’s just got to get her rescued cat to use it! (Her previous rescued cat used it all the time, so I know it’s nothing to do with it, or my handiwork!!) I like this cat flap because of the 4-way lock, the magnetic strip that keeps it shut (although not sure if this is standard) and it looks good!

Thats a perfect budget catflap with really good quality
I was afraid of my cat sleeping out this winter with snow and so but I’m so broke I have to spit in the frying pan to do my eggs in the morning so I went for that one. It works like a treat. It has a magnet at the bottom so the door doesn’t flap when it closes. I was scared it was a little bit tough to open for the cat, but he is strong, so strong that with one catslap he can change your zodiac sign. It’s easy to install and it comes with a paper template. The only thing is it has the tunnel included, so you can install it through thick walls or cut the leftover if it’s too long.

Good, but takes quite some force to ope
This catflap seems fairly well made and the locking system works well, however it takes quite a lot of force to open and I’ve yet to see any of the cats do it successfully. For now we have to push it open for them to get in which is rather inconvenient.

Hopefully with time they’ll learn to do it themselves, but I think the magnet needs to be weaker so they don’t have to use so much force to get in/out.

Edit: all the cats did eventually learn how to use it (including the neigbourhood cats). We’ve had it installed for quite some time now and it works great.

Bought before - always good - slight problem with door.
This is my third Staywell (in 20 years) – and the first one badged as “Petsafe” – very good in the past, and only changed when they get grubby or damaged by “flying” cats being chased in at speed! . The design has changed a little on this one and is slightly more robust, but I did have a problem with the door rubbers touching, requiring quite a lot of pressure and making it difficult for my cat to open. Took it apart and found that the door hinge springs had been incorrectly fitted! Reassembled correctly and it works fine. A good item – would buy again.

Perfect, does the job.
Used to convert an ilea kitchen cabinet into a discreet kitty litter box. Fit together nicely, even with my basic set of tools. Ended up taking the magnetic strip out as the cats were a little reluctant to push their head through and I didn’t like the ‘snap’ sound it made, very easy to remove and put back in though 🙂 both my cats are fairly petite bit watching my boy go through I sometimes wonder if I should have got a bigger size. Maybe just a diet needed 😉

Good quality basic cat flap
Easy to fit if you have some power tools, I would say a drill and hand held jigsaw are a must. It’s a good sturdy lock so even the most brutish cat will have trouble barging their way through. The magnets are strong too so you don’t get the flippity flappity of the flap going crazy once the cat has gone through. That said, the strength of the magnets mean one of my cats will use it and one won’t as he is a bit of a softy. I can’t comment of draft as I use mine in an internal door.
It was delivered quickly with good packaging. Would definitely buy this again.

Excellent product. Howeve
Excellent product. However, I made the mistake of thinking the tunnel would be a separate piece (as it is supplied in pieces to be fitted together), so that I could save that part for possible future use through installation in a wider wall/partition but the tunnel is moulded to the unit. So if you’re only fitting through a door’s thickness, purchase the version without the tunnel. Lesson learned – by the cat too – who negotiates the extra tunnel admirably.

Very good quality product at an excellent price
This is a a really good quality product but I am concerned it is a little small for my Bengal. The description says for up to 7kg and he is 4.7kg so I though would be fine but it is a bit of a squeeze (although the benefit is that my dogs head can’t fit through it!)

We put this in a metal door and didn’t have a problem so it is easy to fit. Also the locking mechanism is stronger than on most cat flaps I have bought before – the bengal has just broken through locked ones before but he could not get through this one when locked!

Freedom at las
I got the cat flap as my cat would wake me up every morning at 3am to be let out. She loves it; do not force the cat through and it does take a few days for them to try it out themselves. The instruction booklet gives you good tips on how to do this but one thing I would add is not to keep telling the cat to go through, they do it when you are not looking!
I have had other cats come through it though, but having watched a programme on cats, it seems that this is very common. You can lock them out but you need to make sure you’re not locking your own cat out too!
