Philips Hue White A19 E27 60 W Equivalent Smart Bulb Starter Kit (2 Hue White Bulbs and a Bridge, Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant) [Energy Class A+]
Great purchase Works great with Amazon Echo and probably only doesn’t go through properly one every 100 times, although that problem probably isn’t to do with the hub itself. The app is easy to use and has good features but they need to improve their servers so I don’t end up without the smart feature for a few hours. I use these in a bedroom so the dimming feature is perfect for 30% in the evening and about 70% when I need the lights. Fairly bright on 100% and I don’t need it in the room unless I’m cleaning dust.

They lose a star due to how expensive the bulbs are. Love the philips hue system but it ain’t half expensive.
Thats the only reason this package loses a star. Once this tech become more affordable to masses it will take off.
Excellent produc Got these on offer 2 bulbs, hub and a new Alex dot. Really easy to set up, lots of routines, can get the lights to switch on automatically as I arrive home, have the hallway to be lit when we get up in the morning and control them from our phones while we are away.
A great starter kit for controlled lights. I bought this mainly for the bridge to upgrade my old bridge that wasn’t Apple HomeKit compatible. The kit was cheaper than ones with bayonet bulbs even after buying some adapters to use the bulbs in bayonet fittings. The bulbs are nice and bright when at full power and can be dimmed.
The initial outlay of the bulbs is quite a bit more than normal bulbs, but they last a long time. None of the hue bulbs I have bought have failed on me even years later.

Great device for Controlling the Lights I would say brand says a lot here and with Philips you can be sure you’re getting a good product.
A lot of companies rip products off and I always try to go with the original or market leader because you do get quality although you pay a bit more but with these lights you will want to pay that extra bit for the quality.
The hub was really easy to setup, you just plug it into your router, the only thing is it has to be wired so you better have a port free.
The connection is reliable and it always works.
The only negative thing and this could be the ECHO DOT but when you tell it to turn off “ROOM” sometimes it gets confused.
~TURN OFF “MY ROOM”
~ There is more than one device named “MY ROOM” which one do you mean?
~ “MY ROOM”
~ OK
Then the light goes off so you have to repeat the name of the room…
I only have two rooms setup with a single light bulb in each room and it gets confused and it did it when I just had the one room so there isn’t multiple rooms with similar names or anything.
It’s not too bad, most of the time it works, it helps if you phrase it a certain way:
“ALEXA TURN OFF…. …. …. ‘MY ROOM’ ”
You can connect the bridge to the Philips website so you can control the lights when you’re away from home which is good.
Make sure you get the correct bulb set for your lights, bayonet or screw.
I haven’t tried it but Philips say a single hub can control up to 50 lights and there are lots of options.
I don’t have 50 lights in my house even with lamps and everything but you can buy wall lights for cool ambient effects and you can set moods where you get your control device a command and it will turn that setting on.
I just have the white lights but you can get the colour lights if you want something like that.
Practically for me it is handy turning off the lights using voice commands, the light switch is on the opposite side of the room with respect to my bed and my room can be messy so for me I used to turn the light off and navigate to the bed but now I can get into bed and just turn the light off with a voice command.
It’s also nice using brightness commands to dim the lights so If I wake up in the middle of the night I can set all lights to 50% brightness meaning I don’t need to cover my face when I go to the toilet.
It’s only a benefit to get this, you just have to justify the price.

The solution to a problem I never knew I had. If you’re reading this review. Scroll up and click buy. You’ll not regret it.
Setup is a 10 minute breeze which is mostly taken up by waiting for the inevitable firmware update that the bulbs will need.
After that you get as much or as little out of these as you put in. I initially used the hue app for timing and scenes though now find that I get the most utility out of using the Apple HomeKit app (multi-user geofencing being the big one that no one else has cracked).
IFTTT continues to grow in its quirky uselessness with my lights all flashing every time I complete a run on Strava or get paid into my Monzo account.

Amazing Was sceptical about smart lighting before I purchased Hue. I was interested in how it would benefit my smart house, but wasn’t sure whether smart switches were the way forward.
I’m glad I did get Hue. Combined with Echo’s placed throughout the house, control is easy. Motion sensors in key areas are even easier. Smart schedules work like a charm.
The bulbs won’t save a huge amount of energy when in use because I already had energy saving bulbs, plus they sap a small amount of electricity in order to stay connected, even when off. However it is the convenience which is worth the cost.
Slowly, the house has been hue’d. Now the bonus lights, TV backlighting, side lights etc are expected to be done!
Would recommend to anyone. Set up is easy, voice control, app control, motion control works every time.

Temperamental but worth it..... Let me be honest, these bulbs once they work are absolutely brilliant but it took me a while to get them working as I had to reset all four bulbs that I had bought before they would work.
That’s the bad stuff.
Now onto the positives.
Once installed using the echo plus 2nd gen with built in hub is pretty clever as you can ask alexa to turn lights on and off and you can also brighten and dim the bulbs to your recommendation, I also have a routine set for the morning which turns on the upstairs light the dining room light and my hall light and I even have the lamp in my living room turn on and my kettle turn on all at the same time.
So after a bit of patience installing these on the alexa app and getting everything working they are well worth the money I paid for them and do not disappoint my only wish is that I should have opted for the colour change bulbs.

Great product, but why no Bayonet version in UK I bought this product to start a Hue system. I really wanted 2 bayonet bulbs, but for some silly reason Philips do not offer this. It is rare to see E27 bulbs in UK, yet this is what they sell as a starter kit. I realised that I was paying just a couple of pound s extra for the bulbs over buying the hub separately, so ordered a couple of E27 to bayonet adaptors. I shouldn’t need to do this. I also bought some further bayonet connector bulbs.
The bulbs work very well. I did have one gripe that of someone turned off a light at the switch, when it went back on they would go the the default brightness. This has now been changed in the app in the latest revision, so that it remembers the setting. Good to see that Philips are looking at customer feedback.
Hue is a good product all around.

pricey but good Pricey but they work. I’m hoping that the bulbs will last a decent length of time – so long as they do, then it will be worth the price.
Very easy to set up and to use. We’ve got ours set to come on when we go away based on custom routines to mimic someone being in the house and it works really well, giving us a bit more peace of mind. As we only wanted it for security – and to make our lights dimmable and controllable from an app we didn’t bother with the coloured bulbs which helps keep the price reasonable.
Issues? Occasionally you have to have a couple of goes to operate a light manually through the app but other than that, it all works perfectly.

Philips hue Great lights and the app works great. Easy to set up from the app. The only problem I have is with amazon Echo and the spot, when all lights have been found it works great with the echo and dot, but the next day Alexa tells me there are more than one bedroom or kitchen, how this can be when I only have one kitchen and bedroom with the phillips lights in… This is a conman problem with the echo and spot and probably all amazon devices.. To be honest you don’t need either of them as the app does it all anyway. Well with the money and highly recommended

Like Hive but Bette I love Hive, it’s a great concept and for the most part works pretty well. When it doesn’t, the customer service team are fantastic. I have the Hive thermostat and a couple of bulbs, and wanted to add a few more bulbs. I knew that Hue worked with Hive but needed the bridge, nevertheless the Hue bulbs were both cheaper and had better reviews. Given that I wasn’t too far down the line with Hive lighting, I opted to switch and pleased I did.
The Hue bulbs don’t really do anything more than Hive, it’s just that they do it all better. Both bulbs will dim, Hive in 5% increments, Hue in 1% increments. The Hue app is much better, looks slicker and doesn’t look like its made by a child unlike Hives. And there is generally more ability to control rooms, and individual bulbs, as Hive only allows single bulb control.
Definitely recommend Hue over Hive for the lighting, and depending on how far you’ve got it’s worth the switch

Lovely gift! Recently bought it for my boyfriend’s birthday. He loves it so much and played with it straight away (oh man). Really easy to set up and install it with an IPhone. My boyfriend even sets it so the light would be off when he leaves house and be on when he arrives home, automatically! Good price for very good product!
A reliable multi platform system. So far the product is proving reliable and relatively easy to use. I’ve invested in more bulbs for around the house and the system copes well. The biggest plus of all is that it works with both Alexa and Siri.
Good but Redunda This is a really nice bit a kit will design and well made however if you have a smart speaker the hub is totally redundant! My Alexa can find and control the light bulb on it own.
Just buy for any smart home use My first entry into smart gone tech and I love it. Smart lights have changed the way I do things quite literally. I can only read a book when the light is dimmed now. Also having the convenience of having them auto turn off if I leave the house is amazing!
Very happy and pleased with my new lights Really amazing with how easy it all was and the item arrived 3 days early but just 2 days after I ordered them very impressed
Great little device. Price point though too high I like them very much and have one in living room and one in the bedroom and do my lights, TV on, play music and so much more. Would buy more for all rooms in the house but a price point of 49.99 is too expensive for the UNIT. I am sure Amazon would realise their investment faster by offering the product at 30. At that price I would have one in every room.

Great smartlight solutio The Philips hue package is a great smart bulb solution. Really easy to set up and work.
The only barrier I can see is that if you don’t carry your phone on you all the time, it could be a bit of a pain when entering rooms. Yes, you can buy switches, but they are quite ugly. We have 3 different bulbs in the kitchen, (under counter lights, main light, dining table lights). If we want these to turn on separately, we need to either buy 3 switches, or use our phone. You can buy the round scene adaptable switch, however each command changes the last. So you can have one on or the other, but not turn two on at once. I can see this being a bit irritating.

Excellent from Philips 90% of my lights in my home are now Philips Hue lights. Complimented with Sensors & Switches they all sync perfectly. Easily set up by the philips App. Controlled by either the app or by Alexa. Highly recommend philips Hue products.

Can't live without it now! Very useful kit, the only downside is when someone switches the light off from the switch and it becomes completely useless! :/ Buying light switch cover from Samotech though seems fixes all the issues we previously had. Happy now!

Great product! Bought these with the motion sensor to automate the lighting in hallway and landing as the light switches were not in the most accessible of places. Works a treat! Very happy!
Easy to use once installed, and nice bright light with dimme Set it up for my folks so they can turn lights on and off when they are away.
Was a bit hardish to set up, I don’t think my parents could have done it without help.
However if someone is there to help five stars.
Worth i These bulbs are expensive for what they are, but 100% worth it. So easy to use, and they pair with almost everything including my Alexa which is fancy, cool, and it’s made me a whole lot lazier! Great produc
Grea I use these with my Google home all around the house. They’re pretty easy to setup and really easy to use. If they were a little cheaper I’d give it five stars, but if you’re willing to pay the price they’re worth it.
Amazing produc So I purchased the Philips Hue bulbs to replace some other Alexa compatible bulbs that became faulty after 8 months use.
I should have purchased Philips Hue in the first place, they are brilliant!!
So easy to setup and operate, and the light is amazing…not a harsh LED white
Absolutely love these! Absolutely love these!! Been thinking for a while about how I would like to start my smart home, the easiest way for me to do this is to integrate the lighting into it. Having two little ones who tend to fall asleep either on me or when the lights are on, i find it extremely useful to either ask siri to turn down the lights if my phone isn’t in reach or use my phone. My only missing piece to the puzzle is an Apple TV 4th generation or stay at home iPad so i can create scenes, then I’ll be set!!

Really Impressed. Super fast delivery as always with prime. Very simple to install and setup with app. 4 rooms up and running with switches, lamps, spots etc with a couple of hours. No issues with connectivity across 3 floors in a large house.
Great price and produc Was after a Hue but saw this, and seeing as it includes two bulbs as well, was a great price in comparison. Worked straight away and no issues a month down the line
Replaced my current hue system. Love i I love my Hue system, linked to Alexa and they work great. Replace my existing system with this new bridge. You must follow the instructions, take ur time and it all works great. About 25 mins in total. Make sure you have the current hue app if you are upgrading.

Great product! Works in excellent condition with Amazon Echo ... Great product!
Works in excellent condition with Amazon Echo Dot Alexia, As now I can turn on or off my light by by my voice instead of physically getting out of bed to switch off or on the light!
Great start to home automation! Love this system! Easy to install and use. Alexa and Siri work well with it even though we had to tweak the zone names slightly for Alexa and also had to introduce some Routines to make it work more efficiently but that’s an issue with Alexa and not the Hue system. I’m using these for our hallway and bed side lights, which is great as you can dim them to prepare for bed time. Also love the automation on the Hue app so that the lights come on when you get close to home or have the bed side lamps come on gradually in the morning. This means that you don’t need a separate wake-up lamp but can use these instead, especially in the winter.
Also got a great price on Amazon as it was bundled with an Echo Dot during sale time and was therefore on par with the Ikea system (or even a bit cheaper) but Hue can do so much more than the Ikea system especially when you want to expand and add other things as well.

Best purchase ever!! I have Alexa and wondered, “What do I do every day, that requires very little effort that I no longer want to do”. The answer? Turning my lights on and off.
My laziness had increased 200% now I have the Phillips Hue bulbs. I can either control them from my phone, assuming I can be bothered to lift my arm, or scream at Alexa to turn the lights on.
The system itself is very clever. You can control seperate lights in different rooms, or control individual lights on one room. I have three bulbs in 1 room and can turn them all on or off independently of each other. I can even have them at different brightness to each other. You can do this level of control from the app or Alexa.
Using the app you are able to set routines such as ‘wake up’ or ‘go to bed’. These either gradually increase or lower the brightness, depending on what you are doing (waking or sleeping). You are able to set timers and have them flash after 10 mins. And you can use them like conventional schedule timers. Setting them to come on when you are away. You can even have then turn on randomly between certain hours to simulate someone being at home.
The light switch they are connected too must always be on, and you turn them off via the app. The bulbs must be connected to the hub which is connected to the internet. If there is a power cut, when the power comes back on, as the switch is on the bulbs will turn on. This can be annoying at night time as the 100% brightness is very bright. But how often are there power cuts?
I absolutely love the system. I was worried how often I would use it, but it’s become a daily activity, turning lights on before I get into rooms, or rushing upstairs light off when I forgot to. Simply fantastic

Lights galore! Our Home wasn’t so smart, but now it is thanks to this lighting kit. Easy to set up and use via the Home or Hue apps. Will definitely be adding more over the coming weeks and months.
Great introduction to a smart home! Great piece of kit! This is my first smart home item and I couldn’t be happier with it. Since buying this I’ve bought 4 more bulbs. Adding the extra bulbs to the arrangement in the room took a bit of googling but was certainly not too difficult.
Can be controlled with Alexa, Siri and the Hue app. Cannot comment on other virtual assistants as I don’t use any others.
Love these. I got to go with my Echo ... Love these. I got to go with my Echo dots and I did t realise how much is use them. Great to not wake my daughter up when the clunky pull cord light in the classroom is located under her room.
Also saves getting up off the sofa to switch lamp on.
Can’t wait to buy more. Price per bulb is all keeping me buying loads!

Vibe City I tell you, Vibe City!!! Phillips Hue is not cheap. It’s not practical if you’re on a budget. But if you have it you’ll love it. Really great to be able to dim your lights without noisy dimming switches. LEDs also last for ever.
Given this has the base and 2 lights it’s a great way to get into the Hue system. Couple this with some colour lights and you’re on your way to vibe city.

Excellent introduction to Hue. Worth paying a little extra for the quality. My entry into the world of Hue. Fantastic stuff ! Still getting used to all the different settings, routines etc and havi8ng to reset it all when kids start messing about with it. However Philips bulbs are very good quality and though significantly more expensive than other Hue compatible bulbs are more reliable and seem to have a more consistent connection to hub. Worth paying the extra really for the convenience.

but I'm glad that I did I've been pleasantly surprised with how ... Wasn’t sure about buying these as they are a little pricey for light bulbs, but I’m glad that I did I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how nice they are. I will eventually replace all the existing bulbs in my house with them.
Good price and works flawlessly with Apple products Good price and works flawlessly with Apple products. Does work with my S8, but not the voice function unless I buy a separate Samsung connect hub. Regardless I’ve used this with the white and ambiance bulb as well and was very impressed.
Well worth the money! 😁 Great product! They work really well apart from sometimes when they won’t connect to my phone but that’s easy to fix, just put your phone on airplane mode and turn on the WiFi again. Apart from that it’s a really good produc
Great starter set. Great bulbs as always. My house is full of these and I love them, I bought this as a gift for my sister so she can start automating her her house. It’s a fantastic starter pack to see if you like the hue experience.
excellent lighting system excellent lighting system, much better than cheaper alternatives. spend a little extra and you’ll get exactly what it says. saving up for more bulbs now and a motion sensor!
Great smart lighting system, that is well worth the investment. Great smart lighting system, that is flexible and expandable, and integrates into so many day to day things!
I have this integrated with out Plex Media Server, which plays all our TV and movies, and is so nice to be able to play a movie and have the lights automatically go out, and then back on again when pausing/stopping the movie… not to speak of the recent ability to have the lights change colour according to what is going on in the movie/tv… just a great lighting system that is well worth the money.
Not only do we have the cinema effect, but in conjunction with the Philips Hue Intelligent Motion Sensor Smart Accessory, Apple HomeKit Enabled, Works with Alexa,White we have a more efficient lighting system in the house… no more fumbling for lights when going to the toilet at night… and no being blinded either, as you can set the lights to be triggered in night light mode… just a great lighting system that I would not be without now.

Great Lighting system, easy to set up and expand. Very easy to set up and the lights are fantastic. Can control the brightness, intensity and also dims nicely. The routine feature on the app, allowing you to gently wake up to an every brightening glow or setting the light to slowly dim out in the kids room at night is great. Also Integrates with Alexa very well but, be careful when having several lights named slightly similar, it can confuse Alexa which light your on about and the constant response can be frustrating so, note to not have lights named alike. Overall Brilliant.

but works great and love the flexibility when connecting to Alexa A wee bit expensive compared to the alternatives, but works great and love the flexibility when connecting to Alexa.
You get what you pay for. Great smart lighting system, not the cheapest on the market but the functionality of the app and the quality of the products shines through.
Hue = Brillia Brilliant bit of kit. It’s brilliant turning the lights on, dimming them and turning them off using Alexa. Now to get the Hue mood lights.
Excelle I thought long and hard about this before buying. I really only wanted to be able to use Echo to switch on and off our outside lights. It was ridiculously easy to set up and to link to Alexa. It works perfectly so far. I am now tempted to add more lights, though the expense is more than a little discouraging.
Great purchase
Works great with Amazon Echo and probably only doesn’t go through properly one every 100 times, although that problem probably isn’t to do with the hub itself.

Great produc
Very easy to set up i have mine on a timer, i have also bought an extra 2 bulbs for other lamps
They lose a star due to how expensive the bulbs are.
Love the philips hue system but it ain’t half expensive.
Thats the only reason this package loses a star. Once this tech become more affordable to masses it will take off.
Great produc
Easy to install and set up. Loving using this to control lights via amazon echo.
Excellent produc
Got these on offer 2 bulbs, hub and a new Alex dot.

Great device for Controlling the Lights
I would say brand says a lot here and with Philips you can be sure you’re getting a good product.

Was sceptical about smart lighting before I purchased Hue.

I bought this product to start a Hue system.

Fantastic
So easy to set up and use, will be adding more bulbs to this, works so well with Alexa
pricey but good
Pricey but they work.

Great automatio
Not sure about the durability yet
Great product, easy to setup with the hub, I’ve linked to my echo and voice control is excelle
Philips hue
Great lights and the app works great.

I love Hive, it’s a great concept and for the most part works pretty well.

Good but Redunda
This is a really nice bit a kit will design and well made however if you have a smart speaker the hub is totally redundant! My Alexa can find and control the light bulb on it own.
yay
bought it as a gift, they are super happy with the item and now wanting more colour ones!
Just buy for any smart home use
My first entry into smart gone tech and I love it. Smart lights have changed the way I do things quite literally. I can only read a book when the light is dimmed now. Also having the convenience of having them auto turn off if I leave the house is amazing!
Very happy and pleased with my new lights
Really amazing with how easy it all was and the item arrived 3 days early but just 2 days after I ordered them very impressed
Great little device. Price point though too high
I like them very much and have one in living room and one in the bedroom and do my lights, TV on, play music and so much more. Would buy more for all rooms in the house but a price point of 49.99 is too expensive for the UNIT. I am sure Amazon would realise their investment faster by offering the product at 30. At that price I would have one in every room.
Great piece of ki
Once installed and downloaded app just followed instructions. Adding extra hue lights is easy go to app and settings.

Great smartlight solutio
The Philips hue package is a great smart bulb solution.
Otherwise, a very good setup.

Never disappoints
Love this, Philips hue never disappoints. Boguht these ages ago and they still work brilliantly. Absolutely love them
Excellent from Philips
90% of my lights in my home are now Philips Hue lights. Complimented with Sensors & Switches they all sync perfectly. Easily set up by the philips App. Controlled by either the app or by Alexa. Highly recommend philips Hue products.

Very happy!
Easy to use once installed, and nice bright light with dimme
Set it up for my folks so they can turn lights on and off when they are away.
Was a bit hardish to set up, I don’t think my parents could have done it without help.
However if someone is there to help five stars.
Worth i
These bulbs are expensive for what they are, but 100% worth it. So easy to use, and they pair with almost everything including my Alexa which is fancy, cool, and it’s made me a whole lot lazier! Great produc
Grea
I use these with my Google home all around the house. They’re pretty easy to setup and really easy to use. If they were a little cheaper I’d give it five stars, but if you’re willing to pay the price they’re worth it.
Five Stars
Has saved a lot of trouble upgrading and changing dimmers. Works a treat with Alexa and Google.
The Future of Lighting
Just bought so can’t comment on durability but easy to set up and use. Works well with Amazon Echo.
Amazing produc
So I purchased the Philips Hue bulbs to replace some other Alexa compatible bulbs that became faulty after 8 months use.

Handy
Great little gadget especially when connected to my echo , could have been better if it wasn’t scew in bulbs
Very good
This is brilliant works well with Alexa after setting it up on ipad
Great price and produc
Was after a Hue but saw this, and seeing as it includes two bulbs as well, was a great price in comparison. Worked straight away and no issues a month down the line
Replaced my current hue system. Love i
I love my Hue system, linked to Alexa and they work great. Replace my existing system with this new bridge. You must follow the instructions, take ur time and it all works great. About 25 mins in total. Make sure you have the current hue app if you are upgrading.

Great product!

Getting into bed and turning the lights off with a quick command is great.

Excelle
Easy to set up and works well with the echo.

These are excellent. Have now got them all over the house
These are excellent. Have now got them all over the house. Brilliant for lighting up your home if your out late at night and can also set them to come on automatically in the mornings. Would highly recommend.

Worked a dream, lights now go on and off by speaking to Alexa

Wasn’t sure about buying these as they are a little pricey for light bulbs, but I’m glad that I did I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how nice they are. I will eventually replace all the existing bulbs in my house with them.
Good price and works flawlessly with Apple products
Good price and works flawlessly with Apple products. Does work with my S8, but not the voice function unless I buy a separate Samsung connect hub. Regardless I’ve used this with the white and ambiance bulb as well and was very impressed.

Don’t know how I was living before these bulbs came along!
Well worth the money! 😁
Great product! They work really well apart from sometimes when they won’t connect to my phone but that’s easy to fix, just put your phone on airplane mode and turn on the WiFi again. Apart from that it’s a really good produc
Loving the hue system
Loving the hue system, specially with ifttt as a lot of options seem to be geared to work with the hue system

Great starter set.
Great bulbs as always. My house is full of these and I love them, I bought this as a gift for my sister so she can start automating her her house. It’s a fantastic starter pack to see if you like the hue experience.
excellent lighting system
excellent lighting system, much better than cheaper alternatives. spend a little extra and you’ll get exactly what it says. saving up for more bulbs now and a motion sensor!

Works as expected. Slightly higher cost than other alexa supported devices but hopefully Philips has the better longevity.

Love this product. Going to buy the coloured version nex

You get what you pay for.
Great smart lighting system, not the cheapest on the market but the functionality of the app and the quality of the products shines through.
Hue = Brillia
Brilliant bit of kit. It’s brilliant turning the lights on, dimming them and turning them off using Alexa. Now to get the Hue mood lights.

Great product. I will be buying more bulbs to add.
Works easily with Amazon Echo, and Appel home.
I thought long and hard about this before buying. I really only wanted to be able to use Echo to switch on and off our outside lights. It was ridiculously easy to set up and to link to Alexa. It works perfectly so far. I am now tempted to add more lights, though the expense is more than a little discouraging.
