op 3 of the top 10 mini ovens in reviews
a lot of reviews state the thermostat is wrong , well I find thermostats like people they don’t always tell the truth . the booklet shows a chicken will cook in 35 mins so don’t take the book as gospel use common sense I cooked a 1.5kg chicken in the oven @200c for 75 mins and it cooked really good . please read the receipe and adjust the timing and temp to the food . we have cooked different things in this oven as a family and it all turned out good . I have tried many ovens in 40+ years and this is one of the good ones for size ,price and economy . the top oven was twice the price but didn’t have all the functions so if space a factor or there are just 2 it is a great machine . and no I wasn’t paid for. this or do I work for anyone involved with this item The poll was on google that what peaked my interes

I bought this product and have found it easy to use, it is just as described and looks great on my kitchen counter, it makes it easier to do a good roast as I can do a good size chicken in it. Would highly recommend.

    Cooks really well.
I had originally purchased a cookworks toaster oven that took forever to cook anything and had smoke coming out the door. After returning it I purchased this one and couldn’t be happier. It cooked a lasagna an hour quicker than the other oven and chips were cooked evenly instead of half burned half under baked. I also love the light feature as i haven’t had that before in a toaster oven.

    The only negatives are below:
Wire shelf is a bit stiff to get in on the bottom level.
The door handle and knobs get quite hot when oven is on so need to use gloves to open the door.

I really love this wee oven. I may not bother to get my full size cooker fixed. Great price, does the job requires and as only two of us, more than adequate. It won’t cook a huge Christmas turkey, but more than meets our needs. It could do with better instructions on use, but that’s the only negative comment.
    Thoroughly recommend!

everything is fine except the original tray is too wide, the door cannot be fully closed,
    – by that is a door gap for escaping the heating and the temperature sensor goes crazy
    ………Follow-up
After two weeks of use,- the maximum temperature of 205 * C reached at the max setting
    Frustrating !

I’ve had this a little while now. Bought it to use in my motorhome. Always use campsites, so paying for electric, but then cooking with gas. No more! I’ve cooked everything I would normally cook in my home oven in it, and everything has been fine. Also used it to grill bacon and steak. All good. I put an oven thermometer in it to check the temperatures. All accurate. Reaches temperature quickly. Would recommend this little oven to anyone with a camper/ motorhome, or a small kitchen with limited space. I think the spitroaster might be a bit messy, so not sure if I’ll use that yet. Microwaves may be quick, but you can’t cook everything in them!

I use the oven most days and only two of us so I hope saving the cost of using a large oven.
It cooks very well but can’t comment on the spit as it is something I wouldn’t use.
Most unusual to find a small oven with a FAN, very good.

Well worth the money, Tefal is the best .
Love everything about it except the fact there is no light or indicator to let the user know when the set temperature is reached on a preheated oven. Some things need to go into the oven at the correct temperature, for instance bread, sponges, souffles, and also by white modelling oven bake clay which needs timing from 130c.

Saved the day when my main oven door broke during lockdown . Fairly easy to use but a bit hit & miss if baking cakes – need to tweak recipes. Wish there was an indicator to show when the temperature set had been reached. Also temperature dial goes up in 20*C increments. A few recipes in the instructions would have been nice & useful.

Oven good, Grill not so much
So far has worked perectly, when used in oven mode heat seems even and cooking times have been correct. In grill mode not so good as the two elements are set quite far apart and the middle doesn’t cook/brown so well, so you need to keep moving the food around.

Pleased that it has a light, as our last one didn’t, and it makes keeping an eye on food much easier.

The main downsides (outside of the grill problem) is no handle for the pan, so you need oven gloves. Luckily our old one had a hook on handle that works with the provided tray. The other problem is there is no cover at the bottom of the oven to protect the lower elements from any splashes.

Great little oven. It makes absolutely beautiful chicken with the rotisserie function and included attachment. It doesn’t cool very quickly as a conventional oven but it still does the job and is handy when preparing multiple things if your main oven is occupied.

Honestly though, I bought it for the rotisserie and it’s excellent for that. So for that alone it’d be 5 star but across everything it’s a 4 all round.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI'm in love with it.
I love this oven. I live alone and have a bad back so I can’t reach down anymore. This is amazing for one person. I don’t think i’ll use the rotisserie device because I prefer roast chicken in a bag as it comes ready prepared from the supermarket (where I live small chickens are 3 for 10). That was the first thing I cooked in it and it was lovely juicy evenly cooked to perfection. It’s a fan assisted oven which surprised me for something so compact and of course TEFAL is a name you can trust. It’s extremely well designed, I keep noticing little thoughtful features that show how much thought went into this item. For instance it has very small ‘legs’ with some sort of clever rubber feet that stop it sliding all over the place, this oven was designed to sit on a worktop and it won’t scorch the surface it sits on, yet the door opens and rests on it’s own handle at precisely the correct height to slide out the bottom tray directly onto the door – which is very helpful to slide out my chicken during cooking to test the temperature. This feature stops the whole oven tipping forward onto you which is a common problem with lesser models. Just buy it, you will be telling your friends about this oven I guarantee it.

A good looking efficient oven. The temperature control is spot on, checked against two oven thermometers and the temperature was maintained well over time. It is ideal for me as an elderly single person but I can’t comment on its use for a family. The only thing to be wary of, is the outer casing gets very hot so keep well away from children. This is my first mini oven and I can only say I am impressed and look forward to trying more adventurous cooking.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic Little Ove
Just for reference, this little Tefal Optimo Oven is fantastic as our main cooker oven broke down and this did the job for what we needed.

The oven has four elements, two upper and two lower and can be set accordingly either upper, lower or upper and lower together, totalling around 1300 watts maximum. This would probably be cheaper to run than a standard electric cooker oven which maybe in excess of 2200 watts as a larger cavity oven.

On the middle dial there are 8 positions not 6 like in the out of date pictures shown and it has got a rotisserie and a fan too.

The pictures are of the older model Tefal Optimo with the 6 cooking modes and no rotisserie, we found this somewhat misleading and it caused us to purchase this oven elsewhere Please update your images to the one described thankyou

Simple. Three dials. Mode (8 types), Temp and time on. Single guy here. Why waste electricity heating up a gret big (standard size) oven. When a lovely job like this uses, from what I read from my smart meter , 250 watts @ 200 C. Instead of 4 Kilowatts.

It’s been a few days that I recieved it. Smaller than what I thought when I viewed it but it’s conform to the 19L. Easy to use and cook pretty well but sometimes I really wonder if it’s warming on the top… the fan is pretty silent which is good. The best of use is the one in the middle otherwise it might burn your food putting him on the top or the bottom.

This oven is roughly the size and weight of a microwave oven. Out of the box, it is pretty much ready to use. The three large dials on the front panel control its six cooking modes, temperature, and timer. They are functional and very easy to use, but they are a bit old-school, something you would never see on even the cheapest microwave oven these days. That said, for reasons we’ve never fathomed, you do of course see exactly these kind of dials on today’s full-sized cookers at all prices.
You get a metal wire tray and a shallow roasting tin, which slot neatly into the oven. This enables you to cook two lots of food at once, such as meat at the top and vegetables at the bottom. You won’t get a massive pizza in there, but we found cutting the uncooked pizza in half solved that problem. We’ve got a typical kitchen, with a full-sized cooker, so we found the rotisserie feature the big plus for us, as our cooker doesn’t do that. Skewer a small chicken on the rack and set it cooking, with that oven tray underneath it to catch the drips.

We’ve encountered these kinds of ovens in Italy, where student flats are often just bedsits carved up from apartments, and the “kitchen” turns out to be a trestle table with a plug-in oven plonked on it. This oven cooks better than any other we’ve tried, but as you’d expect it’s still not close to a full-sized cooker oven. It will cook most of the basics quite happily, but we’ve learned to not bother trying souffls or anything else fancy. We found this oven worked well and was easy to use, though the quality does lack in places. The trays do not slide nicely on the ledges, and its poor insulation means it gets very hot on the outside (though that does make the top of the oven a handy plate-warmer!)

Overall, this is not something we are likely to see in anyone’s dream kitchen any time soon, but it is a very good performer set against competing offerings out there. In terms of price, this is a heated (tee hee) and competitive market, so there are a couple of comparable offerings from people like Tower, but if we were handed this one to use, we’d would be quite happy with it, not least because of its rather nice rotisserie feature.

This small counter top oven really does do everything that a standard oven would but with the added bonus of being able to store it away and just plug it in when required. More people would have a use for this kind of oven than you think, I know my nan used to have one and I had one pretty similar at uni, it may even have been Tefal branded.

In appearance this oven is pretty basic in its functionality and styling but that makes it so simple to use, just plug it in and away you go. Capacity wise you are limited but just by its nature you wouldn’t be using it to cook for a family, it’s more likely to be for 1 or 2 person meals. So far my use of it has been limited to cooking a chicken (small) and a pizza. The chicken came out really crisp and golden brown, just the way I like it, also trying it with my favourite brand of frozen pizza I was happy with the results.

I only have two gripes for which I’ve knocked off a star
    * The timer is difficult to use as it only in 15 min gaps. Things need to be a bit more accurate so you are left to guesswork
    * It gets really hot so you need to be careful around it.

Aside from the two small gripes it’s a great piece of kit for good price.

This is a light weight mini oven that uses a standard plug. It would be useful if your child is going off to uni, you are having a new kitchen installed or you have an event going on and need more oven space. For me, I used it for the latter – and at the current price, it performed well for the money. There are a lot of features from conventional to convection and reaches a heat of 240 degrees C (which is touching a very reasonable gas mark 9). The model we have performed very well and the colour made it look modern and not out of place in the kitchen. This is a small oven and does have size limitations – its size means that it will cook a small chicken with vegetables added around it – or party food like pizza, sausage rolls or chicken wings / legs. But as I say, when we needed extra cooking capacity in the kitchen, this worked very well. At the price, it is worth considering.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExceptionally handy and super simple to use 🍗🍕🍖
If you want a conventional electric cooker for a tiny space, like a caravan, workshop / workplace, office kitchen or bedsit, then this is perfectly sized – smaller than some microwave ovens, it has a very modest footprint for quite a fully-featured oven (temp, cooking style and timer – everything you could ask for in terms of functionality). It’s been a handy addition to my dad’s garage / workshop / den to give him something to cook the odd pie / pizza in when he’s covered in oil and banished from the house.

Regarding function, it’s extremely simple – no fancy settings, but easy control over the necessities. What more do you need? Obviously, the size limits the amount that you can cook inside it, although the tray is removable for larger items such as chickens and one-pot / casserole cooking, or warming up pre-made / leftover food (which it’s actually *perfect* for). You can quite happy cook two small/medium-sized pizzas in it, although anything larger and you’ll have to get creative with chopping it up to size.

The unit looks attractive too, with a sleek black finish – not the foremost consideration when buying a mini oven, but it never hurts to look smart, too! Probably not much of an issue if it’s in a workshop, but it won’t look out of place in a tidy office kitchen, either.

Exceptionally handy for fully equipping a small-space kitchen area, you can’t really fault it.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersHandy little oven with a range of uses
This is the new version of a Tefal mini oven we bought over 15 years ago — in the intervening time the design and look has been refined quite a lot.

The first thing to say is that it is very compact, about the size of a small microwave, and the oven cavity is big enough to take a tray of 6 muffins or (as the pictures illustrate) 9 scones. My 12-cup muffin pan doesn’t fit, but the 6-cup pan fits perfectly in the middle of the oven with good space for air to circulate. There would be room for a small chicken to roast, and with the grill pan supplied you could certainly make four rounds of cheese on toast or grill sausages for four people.

The controls are simple with dials to set temperature, mode, and time. The oven only operates if on the timer, which is a useful safety feature — there is no way the oven could be left on indefinitely by accident. There are 8 modes including defrost and bain marie settings, all generated by the combination of a top and a bottom heating element and a circulaire fan.

The instructions are basic and (as is common for these appliances) use diagrams and tables rather than explanatory text. Fortunately the oven is simple enough to use that most people won’t need much help from these minimal instructions. Set up is very simple — take it out of the box, remove stickers and packaging, plug it in — but the oven does get hot all over in operation so care must be taken with placement. The oven could not be placed on top of another appliance, and needs air circulation behind it to avoid damage. It is very well worth following the instruction to operate the oven empty for 20 minutes the first time, to eliminate the slight chemical smell generated by heating up new components for the first time.

So how well does it cook? The test pan of scones I made certainly baked well on the “bake” recommended setting, which uses the bottom element plus the fan; but I found I needed to switch over for the last 5 minutes to the “traditional” setting (top and bottom elements, no fan) to get the tops browned as I wanted them. Heat distribution around the oven was very even, and the light makes it easy to see what’s going on as the cooking proceeds. I think a little experimentation with the different settings would be needed to get the maximum use out of the oven, but all the settings do work pretty much as you would expect. It’s not hugely powerful so be prepared for some dishes to take a bit longer than they would in a full-size oven or grill. I think you would struggle to make really crispy roast potatoes in here as the temperatures don’t get that high.

The oven comes with a rack that doubles as the shelf, grillpan tray, and rotisserie attachment. While the options to grill and roast are great to have, doing a lot of this would lead to a lot of cleaning — the small size of the oven and the fact that the top and bottom elements are boosted by reflecting heat from the floor and ceiling of the cavity mean that a lot of baked-on grease could become a problem both for the safety and the effectiveness of the oven.

I certainly don’t see this replacing the full-size oven for a large household, but of course that’s not what it is designed for. It is really best as a short-term solution when the full kitchen is out of action, for holiday use in a cottage or caravan, or to provide extra space alongside the main cooker. It should also be a more energy-efficient way to make cheese on toast or heat up a ready meal than using a full-sized oven (though I haven’t been able to test this by comparison). The build feels sturdy and Tefal is a reliable brand in my experience — though a bit battered from travelling, our old Tefal oven is still working and this model seems equally robust. For the right situation this would be a really useful and effective piece of equipment.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersOne of the best ever-mini ovens which has quickly become my favourite of the last +30 years
I’ve used mini ovens since Tefal first introduced them in the mid 1980’s and my model from the 1989, with glass doors to the front and rear, is still going strong after 30 years and is testament to their longevity! This Tefal oven is a significant upgrade on its early model, larger, more powerful and with more features.

Measuring 45cm wide x 26cm deep (excl handle) x 28cm high externally and 32cm wide x 24cm deep x 16cm high internally (usable space, ie excluding upper and lower heating elements) it is ideal for any kitchen, particularly a smaller kitchen or for the smaller household. It’s also perfect for those who do not need a large full-size or double oven setting the electricity meter spinning or could be an additional cooker for preparing additional meals in a larger household. I wish these had existed in my student days because it would be ideal in a tiny student kitchen, just as it is in my mini campervan when it accompanies me on longer camping trips and runs off campsite electrical hook-ups.

This cooker will grill, bake, roast, bain-marie, defrost and has a rotisserie rod too thus catering for all styles of oven cooking. Cooking temperatures range from 100C to 240C with a rapid heat-up, taking about 6 minutes to reach 240C and the thermostat is accurate as checked by an independent Salter oven thermometer. 240C is hotter than most mini ovens which tend to reach 230C as their maximum temperature. An internal light gives a good view inside through the glass door so cooking progress can be monitored without having to open the door.

I tested the oven with frozen fish, burgers, oven chips, a loaf of bread, thick chicken pieces, a small chicken and lamb chops. Cooking is thorough, as tested with a food thermometer (I’m a trained food handler) and even. Bread and cakes should be kept away from the walls and a few of the oven chips were slightly unevenly cooked – but this is always the case with oven chips unless they are turned or rotated during cooking. Although the top of the chicken was crisp, the inside of the was correctly cooked and the overall texture was moist and tender, just as if it had been roasted in a full-size cooker.

Build quality is impressive although the three silver control knobs look rather plasticky. The top knob controls the temperature via 20C graduations, while the lower knob is the timer which can be set for between 15 minutes to 2 hours – a wider range than many other mini ovens which have a maximum 60 minute timer which makes this Tefal ideal for cooking meat joints, chickens and other dishes requiring a longer cooking time. The middle knob has 8 illustrations representing various combinations of the upper and lower heating element, fan and rotisserie spit. Once the user works out that the four/bottom top dots are the upper and lower heating elements respectively, the side-to-side arrows are the roasting spit, the circle of arrows represent the fan and the three ice-dots, similar to those on a freezer, plus drop of water are defrost mode, then it’s simple to use and the vast array of user illustrations then fall into place making it is intuitive to use. I’m used to mini ovens, having used nothing else for the last 30 years, but some of these illustrations had me baffled for a while.

Having used the oven several times daily for the last 3 weeks I am delighted with it and it has quickly become a favourite for its performance, economy, compact size and light weight. I haven’t used it for defrosting or as a roasting spit but every other function has been thoroughly tested and it’s in the Top Two of the best mini ovens I’ve used out of about 15. This is one I would definitely buy and recommend without hesitation. It also has a more compact build and lighter weight than others I’ve used which adds to its portability making it ideal for carrying in a campervan or motorhome, or taking into hotel accommodation to cook discretely in your room.

This is a decent little oven and very handy. The size of a medium microwave it has several functions such as defrost, cook, grill and rotisserie.
The unit seems well made and I like the colour and the shape.
The door pulls down – don’t put anything on it though.
The instructions are a bit rubbish – just loads of pictures and lots very similar.
It’s got three knobs for setting temp- for the type of function and for timer.
The timer isn’t that good as only in 15 min gaps labeled and under 15 almost impossible to set.
The timer does make make a little noise and turns off the unit.
Have tried a couple of things and it’s worked well- it’s great to not turn on the full oven for only 4 waffles for instance. Brilliant additional thing for couples or people living by themselves. Worked as I’d expect from the oven.
Don’t think rotisserie will get much use.

If you accommodation is a bit on the ‘cosy’ side, flat, caravan or the like, and space is at a premium then this counter top oven could just be for you.
Measuring in at 46.2 x 31.8 x 22.8 cm and having an internal capacity of 19 litres this mini oven gives you the options for cooking a number of different meals.
Eight cooking modes give you the following options: convection, conventional, grill, defrost, bain-marie, pastry and two rotisserie functions. Three rotary switched down the right hand side control cooking temperature, up to 240C, cooking mode and timer, up to 120 minutes. A red indicator lamp shows when the heating elements are on and an internal light enables you to see how your cooking is progressing.
Elements in the top and base of the oven consume 1380 watts while the grille uses 780 watts with the added convenience of plugging in to a standard 13 Amp socket.
The hinged door drops down and provides a convenient shelf to rest your cooking on.
First use caused a variety of smells, like most new cooking appliances, so I normally ‘run it in’ for about 30 minutes before cooking.
I tried it out making jacket potatoes and it handled them with aplomb as it did the frozen pizza I cooked the following day. My only problem with it is the the black finish, I would have preferred white, but that is just down to personal taste and dcor.
A good product at a reasonable price.

I had my first mini oven thirty years ago when I lived in a tiny bedsit, and it proved a boon. This is extremely similar but has a few extras. Its diminutive size will make it useful in any space where a full-sized oven won’t be available, and also in its own right as an oven that can be placed almost anywhere.
I like the all-black design with glass front (my old one was red!). It feels really well built (in China). The three rotary controls have a nice solid chunky feel to them. The top one is the temperature control. It covers the range 100 to 240 degrees Celsius and is marked in 20 degree points. The middle control is for function, and here is my only slight criticism. My old oven just acted as an oven or a grill, and was perfectly adequate. This oven has eight settings indicated by diagrams. Not all of these symbols were immediately clear to me, although I quickly identified oven (a row of dots at top and bottom of knob), and grill ( a row of dots at top only). There is a small instruction manual which relies mainly on diagrams -there are no fewer than 94! – with a further large diagram illustrating foods (not always clearly) and details of function, temperature and time settings. One of the foods illustrated looked alarmingly like , er.., I’ll let you see for yourself. I have only had time to try out the oven ( a cannelloni ready meal) and grill (cheese on toast), and both turned out fine. There is a rotisserie function, and the required tools are provided, together with a baking tray and grill grid.

There is an internal light and a short lead ending in a standard U.K. 3 pin plug.

Overall I liked this very much, it will only cope with smaller meals clearly, but it does the job, feels well built, and will fit almost anywhere. (There are yet more diagrams showing where not to place it, e.g. next to blinds!).

    I recommend this product.

A very stylish mini plug in electric oven.
This is ideal on many levels – for a one person household (me) or as an extra oven for catering for large events.
I use this now in conjunction with my microwave, so have very little need for my full size electric oven (which costs a fortune to heat)
Toast is done perfectly and oh the joy of having crisp oven baked jacket potatoes again.
I can get a small casserole dish in the oven too. Medium size pizza are now back on my menu (large would not fit)
All in all a very useful addition to my kitchen..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery nice mini oven that in some ways is better than a full ove
Tefal is a decent brand of course and so, as with so many similar devices manufactured by them you do pay a premium. It’s on that basis only that I mark it down a star.

Essentially this is a well made and specified mini oven that does a consistently good job. I was delighted with the pizza performance as it’s a blessing to be able to casually observe as it cooks, so it ends up just right. In my main oven first I have to bend (not a big deal) but second it is very difficult to see through into because of the finish to the glass … and no, it isn’t just dirty! Veggie burgers were also great and better than my oven mounted grill. Baked potatoes and veg kababs too.

So all in this little cooker can prove a real boon if there’s one or two of you at home. It won’t substitute for a full grill/oven set up if you have a family, but will complement nicely. There are models from other brands that incorporate top plates, which I guess add some significant advantage if that’s what you need … and certainly if you have no cooker/oven already then these are worth considering. For me tho, already owning both, I see this Tefal as having additional benefits as a very useful, quick and easy cooker, so I don’t need to use the big one.

    Recommended, but shop around.

This is unusually versatile for a plug-in oven, with a full range of functions. I can’t claim we’ve tested it in depth yet, because we do have a full-size double oven for the time being. We’re impressed although the capacity is perhaps lower than we imagined (which does have the benefit of making the oven itself very compact of course).

It works well with everything we’ve tried so far. Pizzas (small/medium — some of the bigger ones won’t fit) on near-maximum temperature are easily as good as those from our built-in Bosch oven. The grill does a good job with bacon, cheese on toast, and the like. A loaf cake came out well but a tray of scones baked a little unevenly — try and avoid placing things near the edges of the oven.

You can roast a small or medium chicken in there, whether or not with the rotisserie. You might struggle to get much else in at the same time though. There’s a heating element in the base (as well as the top), so anything you put on the floor of the oven such as vegetables you want to roast is likely to burn.

The controls are easy to use, it heats up pretty quickly and our oven thermometer confirms that the thermostat is accurate. It gets quite hot on the outside, so take care when using high temperatures. It’s fairly quiet and the timer is welcome.

This is great as a supplement to a single oven, for use in mobile homes, etc., or for anyone who has difficulty bending to access a low oven. It’s going to be very welcome when we have our kitchen refitted and the main oven is out of action.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSuch a cute smart oven that does everything a normal oven does
Such a cute smart oven that does everything a normal oven does. My family are going to use it while our kitchen gets modernised by builders. Later my son will take it with him when he goes off to university. It came well packed and quickly in the post. See attached photo for its features.

    Later…
We used it for a month while the kichen was being done. Cooked breaded fish, veggy sausages etc in it. No problem. It was good because it just sat on the table surrounded by all our kichen stuff and took up little room. It was very easy to use.

Also used a slow cooker also while kichen was being done up.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPerfect for cooking “proper food “ in a small kitche
This is a feature packed proper oven, packed into the size of a microwave.
The oven is easy to use, cooks food perfectly ( with a handy glass door to allow you to keep an eye on things) and has clear controls.
This is ideal for small kitchens, camper vans etc and absolutely perfect for my works kitchen where it has proved very popular with people who want to cook a proper baked potato with crispy skin for a cheap but healthy lunch.
Everyone who has used it has been very impressed with it.
