It does have a grill, but it is not very effective. All other features work well. I like the power saving (lights off function) and cup handle positioning when opening the door.
I should point out, the metal grill should be used when only the grill is turned on, otherwise sparks will fly!
So, the item in question was a microwave, plain and simple. It heats things up.
As it has only just arrived, it is hard to say more. My problem is more with the way the review, and the description part of Amazon works.
It is classed as a favourite in stainless steel microwaves. But only the front of the door is stainless steel. I was not happy about that.
Others commented that the heating element was exposed….. Mine does not have a heating element, so therefore is not a grilling version.
Others said there was no manual, but there was.
So having got the rant out of the way, my last microwave was a Sharp, and it died, so anything that arrived was going to be better.
The downside was not knowing what was arriving…. Did it have a grill? Was it an enamel interior? What was coming?
To the item that arrived was an 800w microwave with a manual. It is a clear and concise operator’s manual. Setting the clock (12hr, not 24hr) took less than 30 seconds.
It works, but rather than being stainless steel, it has a veneer on the front, and the rest is painted/enameled.
No grilling element.
But it works, it looks nice, and after all it is a Toshiba. So as far as the purchase is concerned, 5*
As far as the information given to allow me to make an informed choice….. I would have to try and find a negative status. That is a fault of Amazon, not Toshiba.
But I am overall happy with the price. It is more indicative of a non grill microwave. I am upset that it is not internally stainless steel, but my enamelled sharp has lasted a few years, so I expect at least as long a life from this.
If it blows up, or burns my house down over time, or causes me to grow an extra head, I shall adjust my review accordingly
Sturdy and practical microwave.
I am still learning to use it but quite frankly using the timing is quick and easy, rather than trying to use all the screen icons which require a firm tap to respond. Initially I thought it was faulty but once I realised it need a sharp tap to respond, I am satisfied. A neat design.

It’s easy to use with dials rather than digital settings. I like that it remembers the position that you place your item in, so when it stops, the handle is where you can get at it.
Bought this for my elderly mother so my priority was to buy something that was easy to use, with easily read controls and was fairly easy to clean. This Toshiba model has met all of those requirements so very happy with this microwave.

We bought this to replace a slightly tatty microwave oven, the old one wasn’t broken – it just looked a bit dated and was difficult to keep clean.
The Toshiba looks much smarter and the stainless steel finish is much easier to maintain. It works percetly well and was a good price.
Bought in the black friday sales. Other than it being bigger than expected so far we are very happy with this microwave, spacious interior, clean lines on the outside, heats very effectively. Hoping it lasts a long time, we’ll see.
Absolutely love this microwave! Solid construction with good handle (much missed on our previous microwave) and digital time display. So easy to use (haven’t needed all the available functions). Being able to simply press ‘1’ to ‘6’ for one minute to six minutes of cooking on full power is so easy, along with the 30-seconds quick start. Alternatively, select ‘TimeCook’ and use the number keys to input the required time down to the second – perfect! As some other reviewers mentioned, it does get very wet inside, but this is easily sorted with a quick wipe down with kitchen roll which we’ve always done with other microwaves. Overall, this is the best microwave we’ve had, and it is highly recommended.
Extra power is a treat. I could have done without the grill, because I don’t seem inclined to bother with it. Small irritation: the grooves to place the roller in are too shallow, which causes the roller to displace when putting the plate on top, making it fiddly. Also, the roller seems a bit flimsy. But, despite that, I don’t regret buying it. The extra power is great, and cooking results are good.
Lovely size, good looking, and efficient working microwave, instead of turning off at mains I use the eco button. Buttons and dial take time getting use to but that’s with anything new. Downside is the grill function, which I was looking forward to as my oven grill is broke, took 5 minutes so far and no sign of any colour or even bubbling on my cheese on toast. Will try to heat it up more before using grill to see if that works. Also I’m a bit paranoid putting the metal grill in and keep checking I have only the grill setting on, but the digital display does tell you if you are on the only grill setting. All in all nice microwave, but poor grill performance.

Good functionality - but a real eyesore!
This does everything we need it to well, but it is really unattractive! It looks old fashioned and bulky. For the price in particular, I expected something much more modern and minimalist in style. Would have returned but I knew I wouldn’t have the time to sort the returns process as we have enough on moving house. But, I wouldn’t recommend if you want a nice looking item.

Large microwave
This is a large microwave, that is easy to use and well manufactured. Solid unit that does a good job.
But, as we found with the last one (same model) the clear plastic coating over the buttoms is not durable. Long nails start to break it up. I haven’t read the instructions but as ever find most of the facilities useless/ unnecessary and certainly not intuitive.
On the previous machine in our old motor home I opened the case and wired a small (7 watt) fan directly to the microwave’s interior light terminals. I cut a small circular hole in the body of the motor home and fitted a discrete circular stainless steel grill. The moist air from the microwave was sucked outside and made a huge difference in the motor home with the reduction in condensation and mould. The fan comes on even when the microwave door is open and also occasionally helped with general ventilation in very hot weather. Okay, this is more about the fan, so I will say again, the microwave is good and noticeably more quiet than any other we have ever come across.

Microwave Ove
This product was easy to order, it arrived quickly and is doing what I expected of it. The only minor complaint is that at the end of the program it pings five times which I find a little excessive. Other than that I am very pleased with the product and service.
Caught fire
Thought this microwave was brilliant until tonight when it caught fire. Cooking jacket potato and heard a noise, turned around and flames were shooting out from the metal plate on the right hand side. Luckily I managed to switch it off immediately. Only 14 months old and used once or twice a week. I have since seen another review and the same thing happened after 12 months. I’ve sent an email to Toshiba, lets see what they reply.
Easy to use and works well
Bought this as it was a Which? Best Buy. Hasn’t disappointed. Easy to use, works well and cooks much more evenly than our last oven. We’ve had to reduce cooking times on a lot of items for instance reheating a cold mug of coffee took 90s in old oven. Same temperature takes a minute in this one. Looks good as well

When our old microwave packed up after eleven years sterling service we had to look around for a replacement. After doing our research we finally plumped for the Toshiba. Most microwaves do what you want them to do but the big feature which made us go for this one was the keyboard. You can key in the time rather than repeatedly pressing a button. An excellent feature are the ‘quick keys’ If you press numbers 1 to 6 before pressing the ‘cook time’ key the microwave will start straight away and run for the set time. This is great for microwave dinners! Very happy and hope it lasts as long as our old one 🙂

I purchased this microwave because my babies steriliser didn’t fit in my standard size one. It is really easy to use and does what I need it to do however i didn’t know it has a massive cage on the back of it. So luckily just fit on my kitchen side. Overall it is a good microwave but wish I would of see a picture of it from the side or back.

We just wanted a microwave plus a grill. Much more basic than our last one but realistically we never used the the options on that so why pay for functions that we never used. Great microwave so far.

Most things you need, plenty of powe
Very pleased with this replacement for my broken 15year old Panasonic. While it is lower power rated, it cooks more quickly, and is a LOT quieter than the Panasonic, plus no fan noise afterwards. It just heats and stops and sits there looking smart.
The only obvious thing missing from the preprogrammed options is for fresh vegetables. Frozen is there, and dinner plate for reheating. But then it’s easy enough just to hit a few multiples of the 30second function to make a couple of minutes quick cooking. Great job Toshiba.

Moved in a new house and I needed a microwave for specific jobs.
What you get? A big solid box with a brilliant product inside. Mind the item is quite heavy!
Build quality? Nothing to blame, it weights quite a lot compared to what I know a regular microwave should and this is a great thing in my opinion, this is a static product so you dont have to move it that much.
Is it stable on the kitchen counter? Well, even with 2 hand is hard to move just a bit, so YES, is very stable.
Size? It is a 23L, fits even more than a large plate so I dont worry that the size might be too small.
Power? 800w, does any kind of job a microwave should, so all good.
The menu? Quite advanced, several programs that you can choose from, quick menu to select the time, you can even use it as kitchen timmer(which is briliant). The menu is touch(if your fingers are greasy somehow you will get marks on the buttons), something important to add here, it is touchscreen but in fact it has a plastic cover on top of the buttons and it is more press type than touch, still easy to use.
There is one thing that I dont like, here is a personal preference only. If I have to keep something inside for exactly 17 sec I have to pay attention and count down from 0:30 which is a bit annoying. I still prefer the wheel type of menu to select the time very specific. This is just something I need, doesnt affect the functionality of the produt at all.
Finish? Nice grey at the front, black matte on the sides and back.
Do you get marks on it? Yes, everywhere but at the same time, easy to clean so all good.
Overall experience? Would recommend this product to anyone, also the brand Toshiba never disappoints.

Great Microwave - that's just brilliant!
Now I’ve been using this was a bit I can say it is fantastic. It’s easy to use (I don’t like fully electronic microwaves) with instructions I could understand! I really like the eco option – which is always on. And yes, when you use a cup or jug with a handle the handle is always position so you can just pick it & take it out – that’s right no more having to find & turn the handle! It’s just brilliant.

East to operate
Early days and so far no problems. Controls easy to use.
Small, simple and does the job
Our main priorities were a small footprint, easy but flexible controls, and does the basic jobs we bought it for. After using it every day for the past few weeks, I can say that it has met all our requirements. Add to that it’s very reasonable pricing point, and I have nothing but praise foe this dot of a microwave.
Just one further point regarding some previous comments regarding this unit. You can set ANY cooking time from 1 second upwards.

This is only a microwave so its much smaller than our old micro. oven and grill.
Why downsize?
The old one died and we realised we never used the oven and grill.
So this well reviewed Toshiba was bought.
The build quality is a bit tinnier than the old one, that was four times the price.

Love the Microwave
The microwave is easy to use but I haven’t mastered using the other cooking methods is I followed the instructions for combo cooking and it didn’t work. I’m sure it’s me but you can’t really tell what’s working (tried a jacket) reverted to microwave then transfer to oven.

I’m not a cook. I’m a quickly-let’s-heat-up-the-leftoevers man. This is a great product for me. Easy to cleam. Easy to operate. Perfect for my needs.
We’ve had a built in microwave for the past 7 years but 2 in that time. They are not reliable so decided to go back to a counter top model but put it in the space where the built in one was. There’s plenty of room for ventilation but, like the previous 2 machines, this one gets lot’s of condensation inside when cooking anything with liquid in it.
It is a great little microwave, though I can only just fit a dinner plate inside so make sure you measure yours before you buy.

Love the eco mode,little bit tricky initially getting it to go ,but persevered and it does respond most of the time. Overall timing works but must admit use the 30 second button quite often. Generally does a good job,having not used grill yet so that remains to be seen . Happy with this as replacement for older type of microwave. Like the size and power of it.
slow oven heating
Not surprising because it’s cheap, but heating to 190C takes almost 10 minutes.
Controls are a bit fiddly, learning how many times is needed to touch each button to activate functiosn os annoyingly complex.
Black interior is far harder to keep clean than white or stainless, wouldn’t buy black again.

Bought this for the simplicity of the controls as can’t be bothered with all the annoying program buttons that never get used. Select power, select time, go. Has a quality feel.
Haven’t used the grill option, it was just there as a bonus.
Performs as expected
I guess microwaves are all pretty similar. The last one I had was British and failed just after the warranty expired and the part needed to fix it was nearly as much as a new microwave. I’m hoping the Toshiba will serve me better. So far I’m happy. It has all the functionaity I need, is big enough to cope with sizeable quantities, looks good and, most important, it works.

It had a dint in the corne
The goods were good but it had been dropped and the box also had a dint. I was disappointed with it because it was 100. I would have sent it back but the person helping me because I live on my own and couldn’t lift it again. I really struggled with unpacking etc. So I probably wouldn’t order anything like that again.

My other microwave of 5 years stopped working so I was forced to get another. Am I glad I found this one. Big and sexy! It holds more than average and makes my traditional oven redundant. Really easy to clean and definitely good value for money.

On opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to see how premium this microwave looks. As for performance, this microwave was to replace an older microwave we had for many years, and the difference in cooking times is truly remarkable; this beast can cook things fast. Brilliant piece of kit, great value. It is powerful and quick to cook. Nice bright easy to see timer. The finishing beep cuts out as soon as you open the door – nice touch. Like that it stops with the item facing the front, or you can just open the door any time if you prefer. Very quick to set the timer with the rotary button.

Perfect replacement for our old microwave
Had an old microwave (Sharp R-259) that finally died after around 10 years.
We wanted to replace it with something as similar as possible (preferably with next day delivery), so were looking for the following key features:
– 800 Watt microwave
– Touch buttons for the interface- not a twist dial
– A handle on the door that can be pulled open, not a button you have to push in to make the door pop open
– As close to, but no less than 22 litre capacity
– Next day delivery
There are surprisingly few microwaves that meet all these criteria (not just on Amazon, but anywhere- atleast on the day we were looking)
Have used this for just over a month now and its working perfectly. I particularly like that you can just press the ‘start’ button and it will do 30 seconds automatically, and then you can continue pressing it to add 30 seconds each time (even when its in action).
It looks nicer than the old microwave- black and metallic. When its done it beeps loudly 5 times, so its quite hard to miss.
Not much else to say really, it has all the features we were after. I recommend this, but I also suggest you do your own research as your needs may differ from mine. Things like touch buttons or a twist knob come down to personal preference for example.

It does what I need and I haven’t had any problems with anything I have heated.
Defrost works well, still starts to cook the food at some points but I think all microwaves do this… If you wanted something defrosted properly you should really be leaving it to defrost at room temperature not zapping it but it’s good for a quick solution.

Such a powerful microwave that is super easy to use and clean.
Has big room for any plate and my husband and I haven’t liked a microwave this much. Last one we had broke down in a few months. We’ve had this for a while and it works as good as new.
Look, the microwave is just fine. Does it’s job and didn’t blow up so that’s good. But it’s almost exactly the same as my 8 year old samsung microwave it’s replacing. Same sounds same everything. It’s not quieter then any other microwave and the door is just as loud as our old one. Beeps long and loud enough to drive me nuts when it’s finished- just like the old one. But I don’t care as long as it works, unlike my old one. So don’t expect something better or new, it’s just a microwave.
Handle is good
Having a handle is preferable to the push button door opening variety. It is easy to use often with just one button operation. I would recommend.

Great microwave, but keeps poor time
Very easy to use and keep clean. Love the single touch to heat on full power 1 – 6 minutes. Plenty big enough for a big dinner plate. As a microwave excellent choice. If you rely on the clock though, be aware that this one seems to be rather inaccurate, so you might want to have a normal clock to check when you need to leave for work 🙂
Great microwave.
This is a replacement for my old all singing, all dancing, 1,000 programmes (OK a slight exaggeration) microwave which died on me. This is smaller, basic in comparison, lower wattage but guess what? It does everything I want, it takes no longer to cook/reheat and it’s much much cheaper than a like for like replacement. And takes up less room. What’s not to love? It’s great!
Does what it should.
Does exactly what it says. Functionally very easy to use and works very well. Personally I dont like the colour, I ordered stainless steel but it came in black. The interior is also a gloomy grey and hard to see inside even with the light, I would have preferred a white interior to see cooking more easily.
Excellent quality at a very reasonable price
Being a combination oven it offers far more flexibility than anything I have ever used in the past. It is very easy to clean, and can function as a Microwave a grill or a convection oven or ANY combination of the three that you would wish. I am sure the younger generation will adjust to this far quicker than those of us who are perhaps that much older and less technically minded. On that basis my only real criticism comes about; the machine comes with only the most basic set of instructions, telling you what button to press or nob to turn to what setting for the device to perform one of the many tasks it is capable of doing. What it doesn’t help you with is what the settings should be to cook ANYTHING in any single or combination method apart from One of the pre set options for a pre set range of products of specific weights a fantastic facility but not always the answer. I have invested in a cookery book specifically for this type of machine but it doesn’t seem to offer any of the answers.
Given time I will probably develop enough skills to undertake the tasks I need to with enough flare to make it edible.
Quality machine for the Button Challenged!
I wanted a simple, quality machine that doesn’t have a control panel like mission control at NASA. This fits the bill!! Really easy to use, with a big knob for minutes / seconds and a button marked “Start”! Sorted. I am told that it apparently also has some sophisticated features to please the more digitally adroit members of the household. Whaddya know!
