A Little Miracle
This is a great product. It was incredibly easy to assemble and work everything out – in fact I was using it 10 minutes after delivery. I tested it out in our upstairs guest bedroom, which had quite a few stains and the end result was perfect. The extraction tank was filthy but was very easy to take out (twice) and clean. In the past, we had a second hand large VAX cleaner which was very good but it was far too heavy and big to lug around the house and store but, one thing I did like about it was the hand held accessory attachment, which this product (sadly) doesn’t have but will look out for a separate hand held carpet cleaner for the stairs and tight corners. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone living in a flat or small house and it’s not a major mission to get it rolling so the carpets can be cleaned on a more regular basis. Finally, the price was really good too and it’s got a quality feel about it – thanks VAX for your Little Miracle.
Great compact cleane
I love this machine. After having a rather sick cat for sometime we had patches on our carpets around the house that had been cleaned but now stained.
It’s compact so fits in the understairs cupboard.
Real easy to use and the stains are gone and it’s lifted up the pile of the carpet so they feel nice under foot.
The carpets had dried by the time we had gone to bed too.
So far so good
We moved into a rented house and the carpets were awful. Not sure what the previous tenants where doing but they definitely didn’t clean up after themselves or, I suspect, their dogs. Awful stains everywhere. After looking at hiring a carpet cleaner I realised it’s just as cheap to buy one so purchased this. Had a go straight away and so far it’s brought the stains straight out – see before and after photos. Will take some doing to clean the 2 main carpets that need doing, but so far it’s made a real difference
Brilliant little cleaner , I’ve had 3 in the past this is the best so far , the last one the water squirter stopped working ? I tried fixing but no joy , previous one also broke due to plastic parts breaking . So far nothing seems breakable as in older models .
But due to lock down and the price I thought I’d give it a go , so pleased I did . Just wish I took before and after pictures now . Yes you have to empty and fill more frequently , but as I have a bungalow and mainly laminate flooring & rugs and hall carpet which I almost replaced . As many have said cleaning the brushes is a problem if you stick your finger or pencil in and push the fluff towards the middle and turn the brush by hand you can push the fluff out that way ( taking care to switch it off first ) but overall a very good machine and re fluffed and cleaned my very tired hall carpet beautifully first time . I’m looking forward to seeing the results after a second wash .
After having a baby with reflux puking all over the place, who was then a supremely messy toddler, and a nervous kitten pissing on the carpet, I needed a carpet cleaner. I’ve not got much carpet or a large house so I wanted something small. Came across this, reviews were brilliant and so was the price so I took a chance. And yes, so glad I did and now wondering why I’ve not owned a carpet cleaner before?? I need this in my life from now on!! It cleaned up ingrained (now, I mean, INGRAINED) dirt from a very high traffic area of the lounge carpet, it now looks and smell like new! Nasty curry stain under table was treated with some carpet cleaner but still kinda yellow. Sorted. Milk stains from dropped baby bottles, sorted. Pissy stain from cat, sorted. And yeah so I spilled some sugary gingerbread latte. Also sorted. It is a compact machine so you can’t go over a whole massive room in one go, I did my sizeable lounge in 4 go’s. But honestly, for the hour it took me, it was worth it. Going to do this once a month on the high traffic area from now on. My only gripe with this one is that as a compact machine, it doesn’t have attachments for doing upholstery/stairs, but for the price, whatever! 🙂
Brilliant results
I’m so pleased with this carpet cleaning machine, it’s light to manoeuvre and easy to use. I’m delighted at the result of the first carpet I cleaned, I recommend it. The only negative thing I have to say is removing the brush head for cleaning after use was a bit of a pain. There are several screws to remove before you can effectively clean the brush.

We have had a few carpet cleaners before which performed reasonably well but were a pain to operate and clean as well as having a tendency to lose bits ., get cracked and have bits knocked off.
Thia one is super easy to use and very effective. . You do need to vacuum dog bairs first but thats because we have a fur shedding dog..
Gets the job done
The cleaner comes with easy to follow instructions and is straight forward to assemble and use. I’ve been delightedly horrified with how much grime this cleaner has extracted from my carpets.
I recommend using lots of dry strokes to avoid leaving your carpets soaking wet. A thorough hoovering beforehand is vital. There are no attachments so it makes it tricky but not impossible to clean the carpet on the stairs.
I also recommend buying some extra solution as it only comes with a small bottle.
My only problem is the pandemic and the fact that everyone in my household is in ALL THE TIME. Looking forward to the day when I can spend an entire day alone with my carpet cleaner.
Great little cleane
I bought this on the strength of previous reviews – and I’m glad I did.
This cleaner has been a lifesaver for my rugs and carpets. I have3 large dogs, and a back garden like a mud bath!
Even if you vaccum before hand, the amount of dirt and dog hair it pulls up are amazing! It also blows a bit of hot air back onto the carpet, which helps with the drying time. Carpets are left only slightly damp, so not long to dry either.
I am disabled, and other machines have been too heavy for me to use, but this is light, just like a hoover, and glides easily.
The only thing that lets it down is cleaning the machine afterwards. The hair gets trapped behind the brushes, and whilst it will spit it out as you go, trying to get to it is ridiculous. It tells you to undo about 6 screws underneath, and take it all apart – but I would really struggle to do this. I ended up using my fingers to get behind the brushes! Really VAX, you could have made the top a ‘snap on’, as this really lets it down.
I am unable to use it on the stairs.

Compact, inexpensive and effective
This is great for infrequent use, as it’s compact and easy to store. Works well to clean carpets and rugs (a bit difficult for the stairs though). It’s amazing how much dirt comes out of carpets!
My only warning would be that it’s very loud – I would seriously recommend some kind of ear protection, especially if used for extended periods of time in an enclosed space without much sound damping.
Most important? It works. I have clean carpets!
It’s compact, like the name suggests. Has cleaned the carpet very well even after just the first use. I expect I will have to make multiple runs to fully clean the carpet.
Due to its compact size, the water compartments are rather small.
The only downside is having to refill more often for larger areas. The plus side is that the unit is easier to store due to its small size.
I’ve received best results by going VERY slowly in straight lines across the carpet, allowing the solution to soak into the threads and then giving the rotating roller a chance to agitate the dirt before sucking up the dirt whilst “reversing” back over the same line.
I expect I will need to cover entire the carpet area with 2 applications to give it a really deep clean.
The first pass removed a surprisingly large amount of dirty water, conveniently collected in the waste container.
Unless you live in a medical clean room, if you have pets I think you will be equally surprised and disgusted at how much dirt is in your carpet.
I expect I will be using this every few months going forward.

Don’t have any stairs in my house. Used it on my cream bedroom carpet and it came up really well. Good suction, very manoeuvreable. Pleased with the item.
Grate product and easy to use.
Grate product, very easy to use, only problem was there was no carpet solution innthe box. Takes up a lot of the water and cleans well. I had a lot of ground in dirt on my carpet and after washing the carpet twice there was a major difference. Would highly recommend this item.
Definitely recommend
Brilliant carpet cleaner, light weight and easy to use. Really easy to take apart to clean out. Brought my carpets up really well and I have two boys constantly running through the house so keeping a carpet clean is a constant battle but with this cleaner it’s not a problem. Its not a massive cleaner and if you have a large area to clean you will need to top the water tank up but it’s do quick to do its not a problem. Also because of the size it’s easy to store when not in use. Would totally recommend this.

Easy to use
I am very pleased with this product for the money. It is easy to use and no heavier than a vacuum cleaner to push.
On high traffic areas of carpet, you may need to use the cleaner more than once. It is very easy to empty and fill the water tanks – no fiddly attachment. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that if hair gets caught behind the rotary brush you need to remove 4 screws to get inside – something Vax could improve on. Other than that, I would recommend this cleaner.
LOVEEE IT!! BEST THING I HAVE EVER BOUGHT
Firstly I know it looks awful. But this vax carpet cleaner is the best thing ever it’s absolutely amazing. When I say it gets deep into the carpets is a understatement. I previously purchased a different carpet washer and it broke same day and did not wash nor clean the carpet at all. This powerful vax this one here is all you will ever need. My carpets are just over year an half old. But there is a lot of traffic in and out my house with kids and cats. An I thought they don’t look that bad until I used this beauty then I was shocked how bad they was.
Great compact carpet cleane
I bought this after having to return a cheaper brand for being defective. Wish I had bought this first. So easy to set up and use. Only cleaned my lounge carpet so far, as I was pushed for time. The muck it got out of my carpet was both horrifying and extraordinary at the same time. I have a toddler and a dog, so my carpet takes a bashing. Carpet dried quickly which is great. Comes with solution which should last a while as you only use a small amount. The only thing which was a bit annoying is cleaning the brush bar but I find this the case with most devices that use brushes to agitate. I always find mine and my daughter’s long hairs wrapped around anything with a brush on it. That said it does an excellent job of getting into the deeper fibres so a small price to pay for superior cleaning.
gets through quite a lot of cleane
Found it very useful and effective. My house is only carpeted on stairs and landing, otherwise just rugs on wooden floors. Found this useful for these, a little difficult to manage on stairs. Not too heavy and cleaned my rug well (which was very dirty) but got through a whole fill of cleaner and water.
Light and does a great job
I purchased this because of reading all the good reviews and I was not disappointed, its very easy to assemble, very lightweight.
Fill the little tank up with warm water up to the level then the cleaning solution up to the next level and it’s ready.
Squeeze the wash lever when pushing the cleaner forward then release on the return which sucks all the water and dirt back up, easy as that.
It does a fabulous job on cleaning the carpets far easier than my old Vax cylinder cleaner, you have to refill and empty the tanks a few times as they are quite small but it’s so easy it only takes a minute, not a problem.

Does a good job
This device is excellent, easy to use and it pulls up a lot of dirt. It’s also compact so easy to store. If you have a lot of carpet consider buying the larger version as the tank empties quickly on this one – I used 2 tanks full for a small bedroom. The larger model also comes with attachments that let you clean smaller or hard to reach areas and carpet edges which this one doesn’t.
Previously had the bigger more expensive carpet cleaner which came with tools which was great for stairs and furniture however the drive belt broke and was impossible to replace.
This one is ideal for light cleaning of carpets. Much cheaper than the bigger cleaner so it still does the job. Certainly tools would be great as I have stairs but overall it’s good value for money. It is easy to use and I have used it on my mother’s carpets so it’s light enough for transportation. Good suction. Carpets left slightly damp but dry within 30 minutes.
Easy, compact and very powerful. Not suitable for stairs
This is my 3rd vacuum cleaner in 4 years since I was not 100% happy with my 1st one and my 2nd one broke.
This little thing is the best one out of the 3 I’ve had, it is bery powerful and cleans my carpets instantly. I don’t mind I need to fill up the little tank like 15 times when I do my upstairs because it goes to every corner with no issue and its dirt suction is beyond me. I love this vaccum cleane
I love this
Kids and dog so it’s had a lot of use already. Sadly the firsts belt went quite quickly but Amazon were very quick to replace. So easy to use.
Only issue; wool carpets tend to shed a lot but I rinse the beater after with the shower head/hose and easily pull it out. I don’t imaging the problem occurs with acrylic carpet.
It’s slightly damp after but we have a dehumidifier.

Bought this because it was light. It weighs less than my cat. So I can lift it and manoeuvre it well. Wasn’t sure if it would work with it being compact and light but worked as well as my big old clunky heavy thing. We have a cat and although I hoovered well beforehand , it did ball up loads of cat hair. Bit fiddly to clean out I guess that’s the downside. Also small ish tank but that doesn’t bother me , I just refilled it ! It did two big rooms and hallway before it asked for more water ! Very happy

I bought carpet cleaner for a first time. I always paid around 100 for someone to come and clean my house so i found this on amazon on sale for around 100 and i gave it a try. I can say that this is the best thing i bought. I tried to clean carpet where my kids spilled chocolate milkshake and this machine perfectly cleaned it. Also i bought a shampoo from amazon which smells very nice. This will save me lots of money. I recommend this to everyone who cant decide if to buy it or not. You wont be disappointed.
Cleaner carpets
My carpets came up really clean and dried quickly, I have had this make before and was very satisfied, this cleaner was a replacement as my previous one broke after many years service
Excellent for the price
I used to have one of the standard size VAX cleaners and, although it was great at cleaning it weighed a ton to move around…it was quite frankly, massive. Imagine a standard vacuum in XL size.
This on the other hand is about half the size and weight – normal hoover size – and it picks up gunk/washes carpets just as well as its big brother. It looks solid and built to last. For the current price this is a bargain really. Only giving 3 stars for stairs as (not tried on stairs yet) it looks like it could still be a bit tricky to navigate up and down and along slim stairs.
Easy to use and very effective
It is every bit as good as the big model that we used to borrow for many years. It is much lighter to carry up and down the stairs and much easier to take apart and clean. It is easy to use and very effective and certainly not too small for our biggish detached house. Well done Vax for producing this well-priced compact model.
Small but mighty at an unbeatable value
Amazing value for money, really easy to use and clean afterwards and did a really good job. Used the Biselle Pro total solution with it (76ml level 1 on cap). Worked a treat after gave up scrubbing with bio washing powder after a in-house trained rescue dog was starting to make carpet patchy. All patches went and all one colour again and came up 3 or 4 tones to it’s rich vibrant colour again. Took a few finger swipes inside brush bar to remove lots of carpet fibres gathered, and just rinsed out the rest of the unit very easily with a jug outside. It only really does small areas for us was about a 2m square patch per 1.9litre load in machine. Fine for what we needed. 3 fills and we had done the small living room space pictured. Amazed at sturdy build quality for price too it really is great value for money thoroughly recommend for small areas unless you’re a happy to refil a LOT.
Easy to set up and instructions were easy to follow. Light to handle and operate. Enough shampoo to do 3 small rooms. Had to fill clean water tank for each room, and empty dirty water tank twice. And when I say dirty, I mean dirty! I was horrified at the colour of the water! Hopefully I will be able to keep on top of that now. My last experience of a Vax carpet cleaner was many years ago, a combined vacuum/shampooer, it was hard work! This was a breeze to use in comparison. Was a bit sceptical as it seemed so cheap in comparison to other cleaners, but I’m well impressed at my first attempt. Carpets dried in no time and definitely have more bounce in them. Happy to recommend.
Lightweight but powerful
This is an excellent carpet cleaner. You can put it together in seconds without even reading the instructions. It’s very lightweight but very powerful. This particular one can’t be used on stairs and I chose it because I don’t have stairs!
You can pay a little more and get one with an attachment to do stairs if you want to.
I have dogs and was absolutely horrified at how much dirt and sand and dog hair came out of the carpet even though I’m always hoovering.
It picks up the water really well. I cleaned my carpet in the evening and it was dry by the next morning. I would definitely recommend it.
It also arrived very promptly. I can’t think of anything that I dislike about it.
Brought new life back to our carpets
Kept changing my mind about buying this. I wish I’d just got it when I first saw it! For the price, it is a wonderful carpet cleaner! You can vary how wet you leave the carpet by going over the same patch and it brought our carpet back to life! The solution with it smells fresh and brought the colour and bounce back to the carpet. It’s easy to fill, use, clean and empty. You can get into smaller spaces as the cleaning head is about the size of a normal vacuum. Not sure how you’d clean the stairs really but it’s been ideal for cleaning the rest of the carpets. Buy it!
Great compact cleane
Fab little compact cleaner, easy to use, cleans really well…. If you have pets it’s annoying that you have to unscrew about 5/6 screws on the underneath and take belt off to de – fur it after each use. Wish it would have a clip on off bit instead for easy cleaning…. That is the only down side… On the whole fab cleaner and great value for money
Amazing Carpet Cleane
This is a great carpet cleaner. Having reviewed it, it comes out in the top two of carpet cleaners and I can endorse why. The tank is small and had to be refilled 3 times to do a room 3.5 x 3.5. However, it brought the carpets in the bedrooms and landing up like new, they hadn’t been cleaned since I moved in 6 years ago. All the stains have completely disappeared. Wow! Didn’t realise we were so filthy...
We have two dogs and primarily hard floors with the exception of a few rugs . Bought the cleaner to revitalise these rugs.
Small, compact, super easy to use and store and made a fantastic job of my rugs. The dirty water after was a sight to behold! Dried very quickly after as has a built in heat ‘blower’.
Will be trying on the stairs next. Great product and highly recommend.
Great little carpet cleane
Arrived as promised next day, I put it together today, really simple to just attach the pole with a few clicks was ready to go. I have a 14 year old dog that has started having a few accidents indoors, this was purchased to clean and freshen up the rugs in my living room (I have laminate flooring which the dog can’t cope with, so I have several rugs enroute to the back door) I cleaned several rugs today and was amazed at the colour of the water (horrified in fact) I did them outside as it was a warm day so they could dry off easily, the suction to suck up the water is very impressive for a small machine, the rugs weren’t soaking wet, just a bit damp. Overall I am really pleased with my purchase and would recommend.
Good for small homes
This is a great machine for small homes and packs away well. I managed to do a medium sized lounge within an hour and it was dry by the next morning due to the good suction. My only complaint is the clean water tank has to be refilled so many times! I managed 2-3 sweeps before having to refill. Other than this, I love it!
It's okay but not the bes
It’s great to freshen up the carpet. Mine looks like new. My only issue is that it leaves a ton of water in the carpet, like you could use 3 full tanks of water and you still only have half a tank of dirty water collected. It took about 2 days for it to dry and even though I used the fancy rose scented vax shampoo, it just smells like wet carpet now. I guess that’s what you get on a budget.
Good cleaner faff to clean afterwards
Decided I needed a new lighter cleaner as my old cylinder Vax was back breaking work.
Took delivery of my new Vax compact power today.
The pros are that its only about as heavy as a normal hoover and it def lifts the muck! Not just dirty water but loads of yukky hair like clumps too!. . So as cleaners go it does its job great. Was quite quick to do the cleaning bit, was a doddle to use and not heavy. Quick to assemble too.
The cons are that the water reserve is small so even just a bedroom needs a refill… Not a problem really, it’s really easy to do.
It can’t get into edges and corners like my old hose Vax so I went round the edges first with vanish carpet shampoo and a brush, but I’d do that with my old one too.
It supposed to dry the carpet a bit with residual heat but doesn’t.
Again not a big problem if you leave windows open and start early.
The bit that’s really put me off is that as well as cleaning the dirty water filter, you have to dismantle the brush head casing to clean all the debris too. It took hubbys help as it involved a screwdriver and muscle which I didn’t have by the time I’d done all the carpet cleaning.
I’m sure that bit will get easier with practice but I’d make sure I did all the carpets I wanted in one day so I don’t have to do all that bit too often!
So as a light weight cleaner it does the job of cleaning well, but involves a fair bit of time cleaning the machine afterwards.
I’m pleased with the results but irritated by all the faff of cleaning it afterwards which took just as long as the carpet cleaning.
We had an original Vax years ago but gave it away because it became too heavy so I was very pleased to find this. The water tank is quite small but I’m happy to keep refilling it as it keeps the weight down. As I’m over 80 I need things to be easy and this is, fill the tank under the hot tap, add shampoo and you’re ready to go. Press the trigger and push forward, release and pull back. I can’t do a whole room at a time so did half and and left the rest for another day. Compact, easy to assemble and just release the dirty water tank and empty. Delivery was in 2 days and the price was 78.99, the price yoyo’s quite a lot. For a small house it’s an absolute boon.
I have a dog and struggle to keep the carpets clean and fresh looking. But I must say for the price the performance of this cleaner is Indistinguishable from the more expensive carpet cleaners.
Very good for the money!
I have to say I’m very impressed and happy with this cleaner, it works well and had made our carpets look really good! If I had one gripe that would be that it could do with being a bit heavier so that it lifts the pile rather than jump as you pull it against the pile. Doing so lifts the pile and therefore cleans it better. I got over it by applying a bit of pressure with my foot which while a bit awkward worked very well.
Cracking little cleane
Absolutely brilliant. Arrived really quickly, easy to assemble and use. I’m horrified at the amount of dirt in my carpets! The water tank needs refilling a bit but it sucks up the water so well. Hardly damp after use and dries fast.
Stops working when it reaches the max level of dirty water which is handy, comes to bits to clean. My only gripe is the dirty water tank has a lip so it’s not easy to get all the sediment out.
Very lightweight, handy little cleaner for the 2 small carpets I have but think it might be a bit small for a fully carpeted house.

Cheap but efficient little cleane
Very good cleaner, suction excellent, nifty little machine, easy to use, light to carry has done an excellent job on my very dirty carpet!
Downside: my carpet is 80% wool, as you can see by my photos the fluff was immense had to take the machine apart twice to clean it out, very time consuming and fiddly,
BUT if your looking for a cheap little cleaner and don’t mind taking the time to unscrew the 6 screws to clean it out between topping up the water and cleaning fluid this will suit you well, didn’t give it top marks due to having to unscrew it it twice to clean thoroughly, poor manufacturing flaw

I used to own a very old heavy VAX but got rid of it a while ago due to it leaking. Been meaning to buy a new one but they are quite an investment (I was looking at the all singing, all dancing Platinum) Stumbled upon this one on Amazon. Had a good read up on the spec, read lots of reviews and posted a question which got lots of answers (thank you) The low reviews regarding no attachments are very unfair as it does state in the description what you do and don’t get. I live in a flat, just myself and a messy teenager. I don’t have stairs so why payout for a machine with attachments for stairs? I have a leather sofa, so do not need to wash upholstery. Basically I have very old carpets in both bedrooms but not worth replacing as not much is visible. My hall and living room are a low pile hardwearing carpet. I basically want to clean them every other month or so, just as a freshen up. Most might be put off by the price of this, thinking it can’t be that good for the price. Well I just did both bedrooms, it’s not nice admitting you filled the container with dirty water! But that’s the proof it works. I’m impressed. The carpets weren’t too wet, to be honest the same as my old machine. Today its lovely and sunny so the windows are open. I’d say they will be dry in a few hrs. Best to do rooms when you can then leave them for a while. Hense why I haven’t done the hall yet, I’ll do that before I go out one day so its left to dry. Another comment is regarding taking the bottom apart to clean, again no biggie. your not going to use it daily or weekly so it’s not much effort. Again, my old one was fiddly to clean so doesn’t bother me at all. The tank is small but if you haven’t a huge home that’s fine. And if you do, then empty the dirty tank and fill the clean one up again, It’s no hassle! Best thing, its lightweight. My old one was like a work out, you’d need a lay down after. This is going to be so much easier to store too. I’m so chuffed I took a chance on this. For what I want in a carpet cleaner, this is a definite 10/10.

Cant get it on my stairs but works everywhere else quite nicely only thing is cleaning it having to unscrew and so on is a long process but it proper did a good job at getting the glue off my carpet and those horrid slime stains lol

Dislike: Its a little fiddly to clean, but is such a brilliant machine that it doesn’t really matter.
My flat is completely carpeted but the mud from the garden, the accidents of my cat, the icecreams of the grandchildren are all very easily handled by this machine. I am surprised that stains that look permanent come off with a couple of passes. Also the amount of dampness left on the carpet is emminently controllable. Another good feature is the removal of hair – human and animal. The whole gives such a feeling of confidence and cleanliness.
This is amazing! Doesn’t get all the stains up but for price, and weight it’s great- I have carpets from previous owners, over 5 years old, we have 3 kids in and out continuously with shoes etc- this has bought them up incredible first pic is the top half done, second is the whole carpet- best thing I bought thank you!
Excellent cleaning powe
I purchased this to get a drink stain off a large living room rug. At first I thought it wasn’t doing much so I went over the stain 4 or 5 times and it’s practically as good as new. I did also use vax one shot stain remover before going over it with the cleaner. I’ve never used a carpet cleaner before and found this quite hard to push and pull back but maybe other models are heavier? I had to replace the clean water tank once for a rug that probably measures 8ft by 10ft. All in all really pleased with the performance of this and the low cost of it compared to other models
Lightweigh
I had an old Vax which had had a lot of use, but was getting too heavy for me. As I now have mostly rugs, this Vax has been perfect. It lifts the dirt from, and cleans the rugs well, and they only needed to be outside in the sun for a short while to be completely dry. I will be using it for bedroom carpets next, and am sure they will come up just as clean. It is also very easy to empty and clean. 10/10
Used this for the first time today. It is great. It is a simple carpet washer but quite powerful. I have a dog and there were quite a few stains on the carpet and they are now gone. I had a different career washer recently and the belt went and left black marks on my cream carpet. This washer has managed to get those black stains out which was brilliant.
It’s easy to put together and lightweight.
It does have a small clean water tank which I needed to fill five times to clean the living room carpet. But in all, I am very pleased with this carpet washer.
Pros:
Very simple to set up and use.
Lightweight (I’m fit able bodied but weak).
Excellent suction on short pile carpet.
Very long power cable.
Happy that my carpets are cleaner and fresher.
Cons:
Can’t do the stairs or get close to edges.
There were some light stains which I thought this cleaner would get up.
Suction seemed quite poor on thick carpet.
Overall pleased with my purchase and have had good fun using it. Its a warm weather job so that windows and doors can be left open for drying. If I was buying again, I’d research to see if other models had attachments for doing stairs and up to skirting boards. The clean water tank needed filling 2-3 times per room. The dirty water tank needed emptying after each room.
Brilliant sucking machine.
I wasn’t expecting much from this if I’m honest. It was to freshen the carpets up after a very naughty cat decided my living room would make a good toilet. But what a beauty of a machine. Really sucks the dirt from the carpet with gusto. My whole house smells beautiful now, and it’s a pleasure to use.
I have only two criticisms, the water tank is relatively small so you’ll find yourself refilling a few times but realistically in an average sized home this won’t be a problem as you won’t be cleaning your carpets that often. And you can’t do stairs with it.
But overall what a brilliant investment. Not cumbersome to use at all like carpet machines I’ve used in the past.
Wonderful little machine
I congratulate VAX. I’ve had one of their old full-sized carpet cleaners for years, but found its weight and noise too much. Plus, it was difficult to fit the dirty water tank. So, I virtually stopped using it. This one is so easy. Still noisy (I suppose all carpet cleaners are) but pulls out nearly as much dirt as the old one. True, it needs filling quite often, but this is no chore. VAX have got it right. Wonderful little machine. I’m afraid the old one might be heading for the tip.

This is a very powerful cleaner that has made a real difference after first use on my carpets. It is extremely easy to put together and use and fairly lightweight for moving around the house. It’s not ideal on stairs only because the size of the cleaner head makes it a bit fiddly. It was also a very good price for what you get.

I had often thought of buying a shampooer for our carpets and getting a dog who was unreliably house trained gave me the final push to do so.
I am delighted with how easy this machine is to set up and use, it can literally be used within minutes of a mishap and it prevents odours and stains forming.
As soon as it arrived I washed our hall rugs and sitting room carpet, the dirt it lifted was unbelievable! Now I wash them regularly. The suction is good so it only takes a few hours to dry out.

Comes with a 250ml bottle of cleaner, so not very big if you have loads of carpets and rugs to do.

I used quarter cold water and three quarters of hot water with a capful of cleaner.
Only time will tell how long it lasts regarding suction and malfuctions but so far so good.
Great for my house
Fab little carpet cleaner, we don’t have heavy traffic on our carpets, but we puppy sit for a neighbours new family member, she’s great, has the occasional accident through excitement and this Vax is fantastic at the cleaning up process of the odd tiny puddle, would recommend for light traffic carpets, I think for heavy use, I.e shoes, pets, children you might need something a bit more heavy duty .

Amazing carpet cleaner!
Pros:
It’s lightweight, super easy to use, has seemingly magic powers the way it cleans dirt out of carpets, leaves carpets looking like brand new, is relatively cheap, cleans carpets with minimal effort very quickly. Absolutely brilliant!
Cons:
It takes longer to clean the machine after use than it does to clean the carpets! You have to unscrew lots of screws, remove the brush bar and clean the underside which is a real faff. It is also difficult to get all of the water out of the dirty water container as the emptying hole is half way up the tank. Once you have cleaned your carpets and emptied the tanks, the carpet cleaner becomes incontinent and will dribble for several hours after use so put an old towel underneath or stand on a non-carpeted floor until dry and before storing away.
Overall:
This is a brilliant, lightweight carpet cleaner for small rooms / rugs etc. The pros of this cleaner far outweigh the cons, hence why I’ve still given 4 stars.
Small but packs a punch
Was prepared to get the top range one to replace existing vax but it is just too heavy to manoeuvre and carry, especially for older people. This one was a breeze to use and so manoeuvreable, just what we needed for our new rescue dog who we are having to treat as a 4 year puppy for now. Delivery was fantastic and earlier than expected.
Reduced weigh
Lighter than the old VAX W90-RU-P which we previously owned. Be aware that this Compact model CWCPV011 does not come with the hose attachment enabling the stair carpet/soft-furnishings to be cleaned, so you may also want to consider whether you purchase one of the larger VAX cleaners or alternatively, buy a MINI-VAC which overcomes this issue and at current prices, works out less expensive than the larger VAX machines. The Compact VAX is a well-made, efficient piece of equipment, which definitely does an excellent job cleaning the carpets and is well worth the cost.
Works very well BUT beware that you have to unscrew about 6 screws to clean at the end
It did a good job, easy to use, quite a small tank but that doesn’t really matter as it makes the machine quite light. However …… at the end, having pets, the brush cover was covered with hair. To clean this you need to turn the machine upside down and unscrew, with a screwdriver, about six screws, then dismantle it. I am no engineer but am ok, and I found it pretty fiddly. I wonder how many people who clean their carpets will view this with enthusiasm. A pity as up to then I was really pleased. Now I am rather hot and annoyed. Vax you do need to look at this.
I’ve had a Vax carpet cleaner for years (not a compact/light version) and to say they’ve improved in every area is an understatement. My old model was so big, bulky, heavy and a faff to use….it was quickly banished to the garage. It was brought out now and again (when I’d forgotten just how cumbersome it was)…..but quickly banished again because of the huge faff to use it. This version is so light and simple to use….it’s literally no more bother than vacuuming. I’ve got a new puppy…with lots of little accidents in the last few weeks, which has been no trouble for this machine….every trace of stain and odour completely eliminated. It comes with a small bottle of Vax Platinum Cleaner…..and I’ve ordered a 4l bottle since, as it left my carpets pristine and my whole house smelling fresh. It might not be as good if you have a big house and alot of carpets to clean (but I’m guessing you’d have more room to store a bigger machine then maybe)…but for my hall and landing carpets…..and rugs….its been amazing. I’m very happy with this purchase because of the ease of use and results. It takes a couple of minutes to whip it out …..go over a puppy accident…..and put it away again…..leaving no evidence except a fresh smell. No complaints at all.
OMG... Amazing!
What can I say, I thought my carpets were clean, I Hoover daily, steam clean them weekly, so naturally I assumed my carpets were spotless, even with my gorgeous dog, but ONE use of this Vax Carpet Cleaner and WOW, the original colour of my carpets are back and better than before, it looks like it’s just been laid, and I was shocked that the dirty water tank was brown, literally like mud brown water, and after only 1 clean…. absolutely amazing machine, very light and easy to use, set up took 2 minutes. Like a lot of people have said, the only minor fault is you have to unscrew the base to clear out hair/dirt etc, but if you do that once you finished, only takes a second.

Very Impressive
Just use this today and very impressed.
Very easy to assemble and cleaned a very large rug which had a few stains and doggy hairs.
Took about 10 mins and has come up a treat. Also used on a smaller rug which had a horrible stain which also has gone.
Pretty easy to take apart and clean. A bit fiddly putting back together, quite a few screws to take out but got there eventually.
4 stars, would have got 5 but a slight improvement on the ease of disassembly and assembly for cleaning would be great.
Simple and v effective
This is super dooper. I cannot fault it. It seriously cleans and fluffs up a carpet, but it’s also so easy to use. The different compartments come apart very obviously, making filling, using and cleaning an absolute doddle. Never owned a carpet washer before because I thought they would be a faff, but so glad I bought this. With Dogs and cats in the house, it really helps freshen things up.
continual refilling of tank
4 stars because half way through its first use it made a horrible screeching noise and I had to turn it off, (this happened only on its first use) so I will see how it goes. secondly I found the water tank too small even for the small apt I have. otherwise cleaning and drying were very good
Quick and efficie
I’ve just used my Vax Compact for the first time and am very happy. It was dead easy to assemble and use, as well as being very effective. I knew my carpets needed a freshen up, but was surprised by the colour of the water in the dirty water tank! I did keep getting tangled up with the cord, but that’s probably because I’m used to working with a cordless vacuum. After use it’s quick and easy to clean. It then fits neatly into a corner of my small storeroom. What I like most is that it I got a good result very quickly. It’s not something I’ll put off using because it’s a schlep – it took roughly the same amount of time as a thorough vacuuming would.
This is my third Vax carpet cleaner I’ve had over a 20 year period but it is the first I’ve felt inspired to write a review on. The motorised brush bar in combination with the light weight makes it very easy to use. The results are impressive in restoring the carpet pile. Be aware this comes with the cost of fluff in the brush bar – matted material being lifted – but it is not hard to remove. The only downside is that the clean liquid container will need to be filled quite frequently but for me this is more than offset by the advantage of the light weight from not carrying a big tank. Top tip from me – vacuum thoroughly before wetting and consider giving the carpet a once- over with a rubber brush or squeegee before you start. It’s amazing how this releases animal hair etc and will reduce accumulation of debris in your machine. Fully recommend this product.
Really liked this cleaner. Does a really good job and brought the carpet up beautifully. However we did find the cleaning after we had finished was rather a pain. You have to unscrew the head to clean all the brushes. They should make this an easier task!

As the owner of a long hair black and white cat and cream carpets, not to mention visiting grandchildren with boots – I was really happy to use my new Vax. I’ve had a heavier one in the past – but this is about the weight of a vacuum cleaner. I must say it did a much better job than the professional cleaners I hired last year – for three times the price! I see what other reviewers mean about the fiddly after-cleaning process but well worth it and it is only a few screws. It has made a much easier job of what used to be a big chore cleaning carpets. I am amazed at this machine, had a larger “other brand” for a number of years, loaned it to a friend and despite taking it to bits and cleaning everything it would not work because of blockages in the pipes. Lesson learned I bought the Vax. so easy to manage, lightweight, compact, very efficient, excellant price. It is a little marvel. Yes you have to fill and empty it more often, (not a problem) but it is powerful, so easy to handle and I can carry it upstairs. I am 79 years young so this is brilliant. Thoroughly recommemd.
I’ve had numerous carpet cleaners in the past and it seems like Vax have finally got it right. I took a chance with this as my old Vax was very heavy, cumbersome, awkward to clean, empty and fill, plus it always left your ears ringing afterwards and didn’t really do a good job.
But what a pleasant surprise this was. Light and easy to manoeuvre, not too loud and incredibly easy to empty and refill (unlike previous models). It’s very powerful and whilst dispensing adequate cleaning solution to the carpet, it has no problem sucking it back up with all the dirt. It’s also strong enough to lift the carpet pile, even in heavy traffic areas, making it look all new again. Old ingrained stains caused my pet have also disappeared. I’m thoroughly delighted & impressed with this product and keep going back into the room to look because I can’t believe what a good job it’s done and how easy it was.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this great little machine to anyone who wants to easily clean their carpets with minimum fuss and effort.
UPDATE
4 days later and here’s an update after I’ve used it for a 2nd time:
Whilst it’s still a great little carpet cleaner (and I’m glad I bought it) – I should add a few points about cleaning the unit, which is essential for it to perform to capacity. It’s not the easiest of jobs unless you’re someone like me who loves to take things apart to see how they work. But I would assume the average person in the street wouldn’t fancy the detailed operation with a screwdriver to properly clean the unit. If you don’t – it will spill out mess from the previous clean all over the carpet you are trying to clean.
In a nutshell – it’s a great little little powerful cleaner and does the job well, however the maintenance and cleaning wouldn’t be for everyone. Sorry Vax – I’ve just dropped you a star for that.
This replaced a difficult to clean larger Vax machine. We are delighted with it as you can easily clean the suction clear plastic collector and pick out carpet fluff from around the brush that rotates. It is light enough to carry upstairs easily and does an excellent cleaning job. If you wanted to clean a very large carpet this might be too small but many larger machines are difficult to clean without dis-assembling them.

Great value for money
Absolutely love this cleaner….had others in the past that promised alerts but never did what they said…this one is amazing. Don’t be put off by reviews saying it’s small and you have to refill the tank alot, it’s done a large hallway before being emptied and then a large lounge. Really easy to use and drying suction works really well too.
So easy to use compared to its bigger brother! We have an elderly dog who has the occasional “accident” and it’s so quick and easy to get out and spot clean.
Although to clean a large room you do need to fill it a couple of times it is so much lighter and easier on my wrists and low back.

Very good on most counts light easy to use etc. Only problem is you have to unscrew base to clean roller brush. This is a bad design as the machine gathers a lot of carpet debris after you finish cleaning. So if you can’t be bothered to unscrew bottom of machine the roller brush cannot be cleaned properly. Shame as it was good in every other aspect .
I’ve done one room already & it was only delivered an hour ago! I took a long time deciding which one to get, or whether to get a Vax at all (wondered about hiring one). So many positive reviews for this compact model, & reasonably priced, so I took the plunge. Really easy to assemble & very easy to use. I’m appalled at how much dirt has come out of my carpet but hey, at least it’s gone now! 2 tanks of water & cleaning solution (included in the box) used. Carpet is slightly damp to the touch but it’s a lovely warm day & we’ve got the windows open so I’m confident it’ll dry off pretty quickly. This is a great product for the price & it won’t take up too much storage space. Highly recommend!
Very Able Cleane
Have had a few carpet cleaners over the years, including older Vax models. I find the performance of this Compact model to be excellent in all aspects of performance. I thought my living room carpet was fairly clean until I assembled this new lighter version and tried it out. It certainly surprised me at the amount of dirt removed – prior to this I did not think I had a grubby carpet, I was wrong! Very good and maneuverable cleaner with more than adequate suction – would recommend.

couple of things for giving 4 stars
– brush bard cleaning is not easy, could have made it easy removal to clean where most of dust get stuck-in from the carpet.
– could have provided a small cable roller with a button to pull, as like vax does for dry vaccum cleaners.
Excellent for small carpet areas. The suction was really good and cleaned difficult stains and marks very well. I was amazed how the dirty the resultant water was in the emptying tank. However I found the tank needed refilling quite regularly. Great buy and very pleased
I’ve bought a few carpet cleaners in the past and found them very heavy. As I now suffer from arthritis heavy equipment is a no-go. I’m so pleased with the lightness and performance of this little machine. Some might find it a nuisance that the tank needs replenishing quite quickly but I find that is a very small price to pay. I’m over the moon!!!!
I am so glad that I settled for this model. Looked at several others and chose this one because of all the positive reviews and I have not been disappointed. Very easy to put together, simple to fill with water and shampoo, very easy to empty the dirty water out, nice and light to use, so very easy to use as well, very economical with the shampoo and did a superb job on my cream coloured carpet. Only down side is that although I vacuumed thoroughly before shampooing, it did find a lot of dog hair that seemed to have been embedded in the carpet and it sticks to the inside of the front cover and is very hard to remove without taking apart the cover and roller. Even with that little problem I would very strongly recommend this machine to anybody.
I’ve only used the VAX once and I’m delighted with the results. Left all my upstairs carpet looking clean and revitalized.
I’ve read a number of reviews that state it deteriorates or leaks on subsequent uses but as I’ve only used this once I cannot comment yet on this point. I’ll look to try again after a number of months but hopefully it continues per the first usage and if so I’d give this a 5 star.
I bought after reading the reviews and I’m delighted with this carpet cleaner . Light and easy to assemble & use , it works efficiently and is as manoeuvrable as an upright vacuum cleaner. The suctioning is powerful and gives a great quality of clean . I didn’t find the machine to be too noisy . Carpet was dry within hours . Given its size , it truly makes carpet shampoo -ing a lot less of a chore .
The down side was having to unscrew six screws to release the brush to clean fluff etc out from the casing . Got the screws muddled up , which delayed things while I worked that out . Easy to dismantle for storage once dry.
Great for small areas of carpet.
Really easy to use and lightweight. Doesnt leave the carpet too wet either. Ideal for cleaning up spills and on the heavily used areas for a quick spruce up. To do a whole room would take a lot of filling and emptying. My only gripe is its not easy to get the last little bits out of the collection tank but not major problem.
Having no experience of carpet cleaners I was stunned at the amount of dirt contained in my light grey, patterned, and expensive rug. It was very easy to use but my inexperience means that I caught the edges of the far end in the machine, and cleaning fluid leaked unnecessarily through to the other side of the rug. However, my technique improved, and my treasured rug dried within a few hours. The cleaning mechanism was fiddly to reach and empty properly – there was a lot of fluff and hair etc caught up, and some parts of the plastic head are pretty inaccessible to fingers. I don’t know how much the (provided) cleaning fluid costs to replace, as it would be sufficient for maybe only two or three rugs, depending on how dirty they are. That could be a drawback for some. I bought this machine and fully paid for it, based on independent reviews from Argos.
This is a “small” for a carpet cleaner unit, its relatively light in weight and does a really good job for what you pay.
The clean water tank isn’t huge and for larger rooms will need refilling a few times to really give your carpets a good clean.
Don’t expect miracles it won’t remove that stain from 6 months ago in one go, but over time with regular use this will get your carpets nice and clean and fluffed back up.
Great for picking up spills and cleaning things that would stain if they’re still wet, little anjmal accidents, spilt drinks will be much easier to clean up with this.
Very good product, easy to use, for a place of around 25sqm we had to refill the water tank about 6x, but the result worth it.

I’ve been deliberating over which carpet washer to buy for six months!! We only have carpet in lounge and bedrooms and with limited storage space didn’t want to house a massive bulky item! New carpet down just a year but with two dogs wear and tear was taking its toll. Despite carpet being bleach friendly nothing was shifting stains! And that includes vanish! Opted for this compact cleaner and I’m over the moon! Despite vacuuming with a V10 daily I couldn’t believe the amount of dirt and grit this powerful machine managed to bring my carpets up like new! Even my pure wool carpets upstairs are stain free! Can’t tell you how delighted I am to have this addition which is compact enough to store in limited space! Fantastic. Don’t often write reviews but this one has been a pleasure to share.
This is apparently the smallest Carpet Cleaner Vax have ever made and so it brings the advantages and disadvantages that its size inevitably brings. However, if you live in one of the millions of smaller townhouses or apartments particularly if they have stairs you will be well pleased with what is on offer here. Where this model cores is in two key areas-it does clean smaller and medium sized carpets very effectively-you can literally see the dirt being sucked out of the pile in a way which is a bit shaming! There is only a single brush head but the suction power is good unless you have massive areas to cover.The twin water tanks ensure the complete separation of your clean water from the rapidly dirtying variety in the other tank. However, even when both tanks are full this remains a lightweight device to both push and lift so don’t worry too much if you need to move between floors and up stairs. Another rarity these days is the quality of the instructions-in colour and actually giving you a decent idea how to put the machine together-easy enough on this occasion with snap together connections so you know when they have been fitted together properly. The lead is also a good length (just under 7 metres) so you don’t have to be right next to a socket all the time. Note a 250 ml bottle of Vax Premium Carpet Cleaner is included with the device.
If you have a smaller house with areas that get regularly soiled this is a very worthwhile and practical investment which you will actually find yourself using on a regular basis.
I love carpet cleaners. I love to see all the gunk come up from my now clean carpets and this cleaner gave me all that.
Its easy to put together, you just attach the handle to the pole and pole to the base. Then, fill up the water bottle and you are set. This cleaner comes with a free bottle of carpet cleaner, its a small bottle at 250ml but its enough to do at least 4 good sized rooms.
The cleaner is heavier than a vac (as to be expected) but its compact and light for a vac cleaner. Its easy to push and the cord is a decent length. In terms of cleaning, well, i think the pic on this review is a good indication. Definitely feels like my carpets have a new lease of life.
If you’ve not used a cleaner before:
Ensure that you dont add to much water to the carpet. Only wet the area you are working on once (by holding the button down and pushing cleaner forward) then release the button and go over the area a good 4 or 5 times to get up the excess water.
“Quick, Compact and Light” is how Vax describe this latest addition to their carpet washer range and having used it extensively over a weekend, I can’t disagree with them. Traditional carpet washers are big and comparatively bulky, not the easiest to manoeuvre and they take up a lot of storage space. I know, we have one!
This Vax Compact Washer however only weighs 5.47kg and is really easy to manoeuvre, even with full clean and dirty water tanks. The light weight means it is easily lifted over short distances or up stairs, much more so than a full sized carpet washer.
Assembly is quick and straight forward. The instruction manual is easy to follow and has colour illustrations, covering assembly, use and maintenance. There are only 4 components (upper and lower handles, clean water bottle and nozzle) to add to the main body and they snap into position with little force required.
The clean water tank is filled with water up to a mark on the outside of the tank, see attached photo. Then, very simply, just top up with Vax cleaning solution to the ‘Detergent’ mark. Simple but easy to follow.Luke warm water (max 40 degrees) can be used. The Vax has “Heat Blast” badging which would appear to indicate some form of water heating but I cannot find any confirmation as to whether it does actually have some means of heating or can just use pre-warmed hot water. I used warm water and found the results perfectly acceptable.
Washing performance is good, dare I say surprisingly good compared to our full sized Vax washer. Suction performance is not as good as our full sized (and much more expensive) washer but still very impressive for such a compact unit. The washing head is narrow and has a single rotating brush but has still managed to deal impressively with spills and stains…..thank you to my wife also for spilling a cup of coffee whilst we were testing the washer! The handle can lower , not horizontally but no higher than the level of the dirty water tank so this compact washer can reach underneath objects to areas that our full sized washer struggles to get to.
Cord length of 6.7m is adequate for a normal sized room and the foot operated on/off button and handle release pedals are easy to operate. Storage is much less of a problem with the modest size of this washer.
In summary, we were really impressed by the performance of this modestly sized and priced washer. Ideal for washing smaller areas and for rapid spill response….my wife’s ‘test’ involving spilling a full cup of coffee on the carpet was easily dealt with in minutes. If you have a modest area of carpets and some combination of kids and pets,this well designed and compact washer will be invaluable in keeping your carpets looking good and smelling fresh. If you have large areas of carpet that need regularly washing, then a full size washer might be worth it but for cleaning smaller areas, this really is well worth considering. Easily recommended.
This Vax carpet cleaner is one of their smallest and lightest yet. I have another one of their models and this one is significantly lighter and easy to carry around from room to room and store away. It takes a tiny bit of quick assembly out of the box and you can start using it immediately. Fill the top water tank with warm water and some of the supplied Vax Platinum solution (which smells lovely) and get started!
Move the cleaner in a forwards motion while squeezing the handle to dispense the cleaning solution, and pull backwards after releasing the squeeze, to suck up the dirty water from the carpet. Do this over and over in straight lines and you will see immediate results. The suction of the dirty water from your carpets is very strong and you can see it happening in the clear front part of the cleaner, which is quite satisfying. The dirty water collects in the lower tank and is kept separate from the clean water tank. Both tanks clip in and out very easily for emptying and cleaning.
The suction is very good and means your carpets dry in no time after cleaning. This washer is indispensible for people who have pets and is great for high traffic carpet areas, such as hallways and corridors.
After use, your carpets will look so much brighter and feel soft and refluffed underfoot.
My only criticism would be that it’s very difficult to clear all the carpet fluff out from the brush. I might be missing a trick but I just have used a bottle brush to try and clean up in there.
