Great bit of ki
Wow so easy to setup and fit and can arm alarm via my alexa system or via the app which was downloaded via the google play store very happy
Easy to Set up - Works Right Away - Very good
I needed something small and easy to set up for my house, this was a good option with no monthly cost.
It comes with everything you need, (batteries and screws) but if you don’t want to screw into your walls you can buy some double sided tap and just use that. Its just as strong.
Took me just under 30 minutes to set it all up. When you turn on each item it connects to the hub and makes a beeping noise so that you can test the connectivity and sensors for best placement. Worked like a charm.
Would recommend for a cheap/easy and quick solution to securing your home.
Grea
A good product! Even made the mistake of picking up the siren after I had armed it, ouch! Does exactly what it said on the box, easy to fit even for a pleb with no drilling experience like me.
Easy to use!
Nice wireless product. But I wish it came with better instructions. Those thinking of buying you Must Download the app first and follow the app’s instruction for installation! I didn’t realise this until halfway through my installation. Managing the system is easy using the app which can be installed on multiple devices.
Disconnected for a month with no notification!
Since I bought this it had gone offline and disconnected on two different occasions. There is no notification or warning to show it has gone offline. I realised today the 23rd June that the alarm hasn’t been operational since the 23rd May.
Very Pleased
We purchased the Yale IA-320 Alarm with the additional 3 pack Motion Detector Kit AC-3PIR and the HD1080 WiFi Indoor Camera SV-DFFI-W as our previous alarm system had packed up after 15 years.
On unpacking I found all the components to be of very good sturdy quality and aesthetically pleasing to blend in with our decor. I personally found the set up procedure was pain free and I didn’t encounter any issues with registering any components to the base station and like wise with the physical installation of all components if you are competent with a drill you’ll have no issues just ensure you choose the correct fixing for your application, honestly there is nothing technically demanding about it.
The operation of the Alarm is simple and pleasing and depending on your home tech you’ll have a number of ways to arm/disarm the system. We use the application on the iPhone and Apple Watch, Alexa or the physical Keypad and all work perfectly but what I do like is the geofencing feature where if you leave the house without arming the system it will send you a message to warn you and gives you the option to set it also you can log into the phone app and monitor your system from there. We added the indoor camera for addition protection plus it gives you the option to open the camera viewer should you have an alarm trigger whilst you are away from home then you can check if someone is in your property or if it’s a false alarm, luckily we’ve not had to use that feature!
You can configure the system so that each different components activated or deactivated depending on how you set the alarm for instance when we put the system in part arm only the motion detectors and door contacts on the ground floor are activated allowing us to move freely upstairs without the alarm activating and then when we leave the house and put it into full arm all motion detectors and door contacts are active across both floors giving full protection, further to that you can set up the system to give audible bleeps from the external siren so once you are outside it gives confirmation that the alarm is set.
We did have an issue with the door contact so I contacted CS and the very next day we had the replacement in hand so kudos to the team for that quick response.
I have looked into the battery replacement when that becomes required and it is a very easy procedure and all batteries are readily available from local supermarkets and DIY stores so the downtime on the system can be kept to a minimum in-fact the system sends you a notification that batteries are running low so you can pre plan and get them in ready for changing.
All in all we are very pleased with every aspect of the alarm system thus far and if the complimentary service I’ve had with CS to date is anything to go by I don’t see any issues going forward.
We are just waiting for the Smoke/Heat detector AC-PSD to come into stock then we can complete our system
The door and pir sensors, was very easy to install, aswell as the key pad.
I bought a third pir sensor and an extra door/ window sensor, to pai these additional devoces was as easy as a press of a button. Despite my lack of fondness of drilling high up outside on a ladder, the external siren is easy to install and after a few days of being in use i have no complaints with the system.
The app is also easy to use, to the point even my wife whos not tech savvy at all can easily use the app to arm and disarm the alarm.

Great but needs an updated setting program.
I used this for my home and is great so far apart from these is not many arming Opitions. I have to keep going into setting to swap the pir sensor setting because when I part arm at night I have it so the upstairs doesn’t pick me up but if I forget to take that sensor setting off and go out and put it on full arm when I enter my home the alarm goes off straight away so I think they need to make the settings a bit more free selecting rather then how it is.
Easy peasy
Did not have enough time to get this feature working but I never made a serious attempt to make it work
I have searched intensively for a smart alert system. My goal was for a system that has (1) Resnobile price, (2) High quality, (3) Easy to manage by mobile.
I have decided these three criteria because (1) I do not want to wast a lot of money for a small house and only two persons live on it. (2) I do not wast my time with a rubbish system and lose time, which is money. (3) I am new in the UK, and I do not know anyone who could turn the system off if I am away. I do not want to bother my Neighbors.
I came through this system in Amazon many times. What put me off not to buy it is negative reviews and 3.5 Stars. I kept searching and searching until I needed a system for critical security concern.
I bought this system one week ago ( I will return to update this review after six months ) and here are my comments :
Pors
(1) Reasonable Price compared to its features and quality.
(2) Easy to install for someone familiar with technology in General ( Total time of Installation & Testing & learning features was 6 hours)
(3) Endless of amazing settings makes you have 100% control over the system
(4) You can control the system from a keypad or your mobile. You can control this system from anywhere! Do not worry if you forgot to arm your home.
(5) Very Expandable, you can add devices as much as you need ( up to 40 ), which I found it give you the ability to design your system based on your need and cost.
(6) Multiuser setting. For Example, I can give the estate agent a separate password, and I can know if they ( for any reasons ) entered my home.
(7) Full ability to control notification by many methods, Email, SMS, or Push to your mobile.
(8) A lot of people comment negatively on Yale mobile application. I found it AMAZING, but you need an average mobile.
(9) Very high-quality material that you can feel it in every part of the system, Even the security stickers!
(10) As this system give you instant alert on your mobile, buying security camera which can be accessed by mobile will give you full control of your home.
(11) There is no subscription fees for their mobile application and online services.
Coins
(1) The person who is not familiar with technology will find this system complicated ! not because it complicated but because of its endless features.
(2) The guide (which is printed in high-quality material ) is not comprehensive. They have tried to make it simple; they do not explain all features of their mobile application in their simple guide.
Bottom Line: I would recommend it for any person who needs full control of a security system.
Update after 5 months : I could not say more than THANKS YALE! This system worth every penny spent.
Love i
After reading negative reviews I nearly didn’t buy this . . . Glad I ignored them 🙂 installed as per manual and everything has worked brilliant no false alarms and can set my alarm and deactivate by phone which is really handy.
It was between Blink and Yale and I went for this one.
System setup – followed instructions on the App to set up devices. App could not register hub initially, but restarting the router and hub together got it going.
Testing security – had to play around as expected and the most confusing aspect was that sometimes, once the system was armed, the motion sensors were not detecting my movements. Turns out the sensors were in sleep mode and it took about 1 minute to snap out of it after arming the system. I may have had to leave sight of any motion sensors during the 1 minute count for the sensor to activate.
WiFi signal is good around my three bedroom new build house – it’s not particularly big.
Still haven’t tested what happens when network connection is lost or if there is a power cut.
Notifications are sent immediately on intruder detection.
Physical installation of the devices is easy – requires basic DIY drilling skills and the instruction manual that came with the product was very clear.
So far I cannot flaw this system as it has proven to work in practice. Only time will tell how it works for real so I will probably update my review next year to include battery duration and alerts when battery is low and general usage.
I will also be adding more door sensors and motion detectors around the house as I am already feeling more comfortable about this security system to deem it worth investing in the extra sensors.
Thank you Yale!

Good all round security system
The system was easy to install and setup as long as you have some basic DIY skills and familiarity of using phone apps. The system works well and the only issue although this might be Alexa rather than the Yale Alarm it sometimes fails to set / unset first time. Other than that all good and worth the investment.
Less than 24 hours from ordering the alarm had been delivered, fitted, and I was explaining it to the household. The android app has been stable and just worked. I’m not sure I want to integrate it with Alexa but will probably add other PIRs etc once we have decided how we want to use it. The hardest but was climbing the ladder to fit the siren box.
I like i
I was looking for a system that was easy to install with no wires & that the batteries last a good while & with equal weighting an app that was also easy to use with notifications & that I can set/unset remotely. I am very happy with it as ALL of this it does . I also purchased 3 more motion sensors & 4 key fobs. There is always 1 gripe & its with the key fobs as my children are always anciently setting it. The app on the phone shows you who/what/when so KIDS BEWARE I can prove it. I can also set/part arm/unset remotely (even not in the UK as I did last week)

Good alarm system
Good system, easy to fit and sort out with the app.
Great product, basic app.
I’m really happy with this product, on the whole. It’s pretty straightforward to set up right out the box, as all of the sensors come pre-linked to the hub. Everything feels solidly built. We purchased an additional sensor which connected with ease. All components including the outdoor siren come with fixing kits. The app isn’t particularly straightforward to navigate, as a lot of settings are hidden away, but once you’ve made note of how it works, it works well. We have the app set up on numerous devices so we can receive notifications when activity is detected. I would like to see more features in the app but these could arrive with future software updates. It does the same as a traditional alarm system at a fraction of the price, with the additional benefit of being wireless. 4 stars with a potential for 5, update dependent!
Good system overall
I’ve had this system installed for a couple of months now. Installation was very simple, no problem at all. The app works fine too – no issues at all. I only have 2 gripes (minor) but worth keeping in mind if you are buying. The keypad buttons are very small and it’s easy to press the wrong numbers- my parents often do this! A better keypad option would be good. Secondly, the Alexa integration does work but it could have more options. Points I love are that I can arm/disarm from the app, I can see who is coming/going too.
Found this very easy to install
Very easy to install even after blundering through it. Works very well and the app is quite good. Wouldn’t mind a few other integrations with other smart things.
best thing ever bought on amazo
eally good alarm, easy to use and the app is faultless. for this price its a no brainer.
A good wireless alarm system
The system was quite easy to install. There was no double sided tape for the movement sensors, so a couple of holes needed to be drilled for each one – not a problem. The app seems like a work in progress, in terms of help, but works well with the system. The led comfort lights only seem to work when the system is unarmed, which is rather frustrating. Overall, though, the system seems to work well and the external siren is very loud. Crucially, the batteries seem to last a long time.

Very pleased
Had this alarm for about 3 months now, very pleased. It was easy to set up, works well with the phone app. We get a few power cuts and the battery back up is very useful, nice knowing if the power goes out the alarm still works, obviously the Wi-fi cuts off but the siren still works. Have now connected it to Alexa got the disarm down ok but arming it still gets confused and I revert back to the app. I’m sure updates or a little more playing will sort this out. Would recommend..

This was on offer, and for the money it’s highly recommended, if you have used other Smart Devices you will do this in about 45 minutes, it’s very easy, download the APP and follow the instructions, it works as an intruder alarm and Detoriant. You will need more accessories of course.
Now the integration with Alexa is minimal and I would hope this would change. Ideally we all want a routine which includes arming or disarming the alarm, right? This isn’t available, and I would like to see the devices work with Alexa ie if the alarm is trigger it will run my All on routine for example. This I would assume is in the pipeline.
For the money I can’t fault it, but not exactly what I expected/hoped for.

This is a great system!
Reading some of the previous reviews, it appears most of the I.T and fitting issues have been updated/sorted.
System was all fitted and operating [including adding an additional sensor] in less than 3 hours, including mounting the external siren.
The supplied picture guide was lacking in clarity, and needed reading a few times, but ignore that …. when you download the “Yale Smart Living” app and register a new system, it starts an’ Installation wizard’ step by step guide that is simplicity itself, virtually idiot proof.
App is a breeze to use for arming/disarming. All the other various settings take a hour or two to fully work out [notifications, volumes, delays, part or full arm sensor settings etc] but like any app it’s just a case of familiarising yourself with it.
Three days since fitting and we’ve had no issues whatsoever with the system or the app ….. overall we’re extremely happy with this.
Update – over a year on and it’s been faultless. Great easy to use system, and still using original batteries, so they clearly last in excess of a year even in daily use and part armed every night. Definitely a 5star + system.
When buying this I was very nervous about spending the money and the reviews not being great, but needing a house alarm and wanting smart compatibility I bit the bullet. Glad I did. We’ve been using this alarm for 4 months now and think this is a great alarm. Does everything it should (90% of the time). Being able to check if the alarm is set from my phone is great as I’m always doubting myself. Great to be able to use Alexa to arm it as your running out of the house arms full or not wanting to go back to the key pad.
I took a star off because sometime the app can be so hard to open. Log in failures or sometimes devices don’t show up on first attempt. On top of this (although it doesn’t affect how it works) at the time I bought this (4 months ago) it was promised a smart watch app was going to be released at the end of the month…still waiting!
So we had a Verisure monitored alarm system. They hadn’t noticed it wasn’t working and had four major faults so we ditched them.
Given the level of sophistication we wanted from a system we shopped around for a long time. ADT have had a smart home product for years but it’s super expensive and not that versatile. Even the other Yale system is missing the smart home integration elements we were looking at.
This kit isn’t everything you need. we bought four extra door contacts, so we have the whole ground floor and upstairs windows covered with PIR and door / window contacts. AC-DC at 30 is quite expensive when you need four, especially given the tech inside is a transmitter with a magnet and sensor.
The installation process was a doddle. I have uPVC windows and French doors and I was concerned about how to fit the contact due to the angle of the frame. as long as you fix the part with the battery to the non moving part, the angle isn’t an issue.
In total the physical installation took me about an hour with the additional door contacts. The system set up, which has do be done on a phone / table iOS or Android took about 30 minutes and I’ve been refining preferences for the rest of the day.
I’ve set the alarm off (on purpose) and it was epic, the siren is super loud and the base station gives off a hell of a racket too. I have also integrated Alexa and my Philip’s Hue system so when it went off I had the Siren, flashing Red lights throughout the house, you’d think DEFCON 5 had just been raised.
The system sends push notifications for everything this could get annoying but you can choose for notifications to be on alarm or for each system trigger i.e. Tamper / set /unset / alarm. Additionally the system will also send an SMS to the main account holder in the event of an alarm in case you are out of mobile data range.
This is a great product, the app works well. I’m already having some idea’s for some further enhancements I will suggest but overall it does what it said it would do and more. I’ll update this review once it’s been in for a month with any additional usability comments.
If you’re looking for a new alarm and can’t decide I would have no hesitation recommending this product.
Happy With Purchase
There’s good and bad reviews regarding this alarm which almost put me off however I’m happy with my purchase.
The good:
All inside devices look modern
The alarm is very easy to use
Two functions mode for part arm or full arm is great
Having the app gives peace of mind
The bad:
Not difficult to setup however not as easy as Yale want you to believe. I had a few issues with the motion sensors.
The app has failed on me once (in 3 months) by not connecting to the hub (internet was fine).
The door sensor only has a very thin sticky strip which started to fall off after 2 months.

First of all, I found it fairly straightforward to install. The instructions were clear enough and the app guides you through everything. You have to consider that this is a full alarm system, so it’s going to be more difficult to install then, say, some smart light bulbs, but I didn’t have any major issues, though it took the guts of a day. You just have to be a bit handy. For the front door sensor I did have to make a small offset piece out of wood so that the 2 parts of the sensor lined up correctly, but the rest went smoothly. I used screws to attach everything as I wouldn’t trust the adhesive to last (especially on moving items like doors). I also bought another door sensor for my patio door, which was easy to add to the system. I did this so I could turn the pir sensors off with a part alarm set for night time, so that it didn’t get set off if anyone got up during the night, i.e. only the door sensors are on. With a full alarm set (when no ones in the house) all sensors are then on.
A lot of people are complaining about the app, but it works fine for me. They seem to have made a lot of updates to it recently as early adopters had more issues with it, but I guess these have now been fixed. Its easy to set up exactly what sensors are used for the different alarm types and whether they set the alarm off immediately or on a delay. Its all very configurable.
The only drawback for me is that I cant use the smart home features as it doesn’t work with Google Home. This is a bit odd as everything else seems to support both alexa and google these days. But hopefully they can add this functionality late

The only drawback for me is that I cant use the smart home features as it doesn’t work with Google Home. This is a bit odd as everything else seems to support both alexa and google these days. But hopefully they can add this functionality late
Works brilliantly, used both the Philips Hue and Alexa integration too. Totally worth the money and easy to install. Only issues I had were minor such as the Alexa commands being a bit long, the Yale app a bit slow and the unnecessary beeps on the external siren when arming/disarming
Moved into my new house that had a faulty yale alarms system that went off even when it wasn’t armed which drove me crazy. The sync smart home alarm is a godsend. I love how convenient it is and how I have full control and live notifications no matter where I as so long as I have mobile connection. Love the fact that I can stop any false alarms on my mobile no matter where I am.

Great alarm system, no issues, if you can use a drill it’s a breeze.
Brilliant alarm, easy to set up, app works fine although a little slow. Been installed 6 months now no false alarms or issues. Don’t use the Alexa rubbish so can’t comment on that functionality but as an alarm, with an app that you can control anywhere it’s great! 10/10, just install it properly and there won’t be any issues.
The system is nice and has a brand new modern design. The system functionalities are very powerful and complete.
I have placed a lot of door/window sensors (around 10) and until now all the system works very well: at the moment the sensors never fail. The system seems robust and give you the safety that you expect from a professional alarm.
What is good:
– the sensors and the whole system is easy to install
– the sensors’s wifi works with a very good range (I have placed 10 door/window sensors and 2 PIR sensor in a two stories home and I have the full signal in all the sensor except one that has in every case a good signal)
– the system works well without problems
– the App is complete and allow to check all the sensor and the events
– the notification works fine (but the messages aren’t so clear to understand)
– the direct integration with Philips Hue is really great
– the outdoor horn is very powerful
What can be better:
– the App is quite slow to connect with the system and so if you need to stop the alarm you can have some thrill moments (better to use the key pad)
– not all the kind of sensors of the old system are available just now (for example the outdoor sensors)
– the alarm tele command seems not be effective all the times.
In conclusion: very recommended system and it will be updated and developed in the next future.

Good alarm sync smart.
Ia-320 smart sync alarm. Took me two hours to install and that included 3 additional door sensors and 3 pir pet sensors. Easy to use product ideal if you want a quickly self installed alarm. One good point the sensor don’t have to be tight together can have a gap. Oh bewar my box had the self a adhesive sensor bits missing. Amazon said they’d refund 5, they didn’t and I didn’t get replacements. Still got round the problem as have screwed all sensor as seems safe

Easy to install, alarm system parts built to a good quality. App not as bad as people are making out, yes improvements need to be done but not awful. Would recommend but early days yet so watch this space.
Bit of a surprise this one to be honest. Whilst I got this to review I must confess and say that I figured like most other WiFi based control or alarm systems it would be a pain to set up and not be particularly good.
I’m happy to say that I have been confounded.
Firstly, Yale have put together a well packaged and quality looking product. Bit too much in some ways as there is perhaps too much packaging and today with various environmental concerns I’m not overjoyed when I come across excessive packaging.
Anyway, the equipment is well made, seems to be of high-quality manufacture and certainly on initial examination well up to the job.
Each sensor and control is preloaded with batteries which are activated with a clear pull tab which is easy to remove so you don’t even have to faff with a screwdriver or blade.
Of course, you need to download the inevitable app and allow it to access your entire online world, but it is easy, and it works seamlessly once you have registered.
Then, the genuinely thoughtful bit, connecting it all together – basically, you don’t.
I fully expected the usual rigmarole of setting each part of the system up and linking it which, in my experience is a bit hit and miss to say the least. There have been many times when I’ve nearly launched stuff through a closed window in frustration but, not with this Yale system. That’s because all the bits in the box are already pre-linked. Literally as soon as you get the base unit online your system is up and running. How cool is that?
In use the only thing to really say is that it works. Having set it up I tried my Burglar Bill act and where the sensors were fitted the alarm went off internally and externally. Loudly. You also get a an alert on your mobile in the Yale app where you can switch it off if need be.
Honestly, from my experience all I can say this is one of very few products that use WiFi and internet that is super-simple to set up and just works. A great product if you want a simple to fit alarm system.
Easy to set up
I’ve been using this alarm for a couple of months and so far has been working faultlessly.
The app gets updated to iron out any issues, so I don’t really see it fit to leave negative reviews for it, although it could be quicker to load.
Installation was easy, although the screw holes for the siren are very small. This is fine if you have a flat wall, but I have render, so it was difficult to get the holes in exactly the right place. Other than that, it was all easy to do.
I particularly like the different user profiles and activity history. The siren also beeps to tell you when it has been armed or disarmed.
The alexa integration really isn’t worth using, I haven’t tried after initially struggling to use it. I don’t really see the point of it when you can use your phone or keypad. I’ve also bought some key fobs to arm and disarm which work well.

The Yale Sync Smart Home Alarm system has two purposes. Firstly as a traditional “ring the bell” alarm and secondly as a smart alarm which notifies you on your phone and allows you to arm/disarm your alarm when you’re out.
As a traditional “Bells only” non smart alarm it is definitely worth 5/5. It was quick and easy to install, all the fittings were provided. I purchased additional sensors so I have installed 5 PIRs, 5 Door /Window contacts, the external siren and the keypad. All of these took under 2 hours to install (ignoring the external siren – it was raining, that was done separately the following day). The ‘built in alarm’ in the hub is 100db of loud and more than adequate alone, the second one is more of a deterrent than something that’s required. I have successfully setup the part arm and full arm modes with ease.
Being able to set multiple pins is a great idea, obviously however the more pins you have the easier it is to guess and your alarm is only as secure as your weakest pin. I have a pin for myself and then 2 family members have different pins so if they need to disarm it they can, but I will also know who has been in my house if they do.
The only issue I have had is occasionally when using the App occasionally it says the ‘hub is offline’. Which means I cannot get notifications or remotely arm/disarm the alarm. This is easily fixed by turning the alarm off and on again physically, just a pain.
This is an issue with any smart device, whether it be blinds, bulbs, alexas, alarms or smart cars. Hopefully overtime this becomes less of an issue. This model is far superior than their old Yale Smart Home Alarm system and operates at a much better range and is more reliable.
Ultimately it comes down to this: If you want a “Bells Only” alarm this is great, if you want an “alarm with notifications” this is good but not bulletproof. If you want the most reliable service possible you’ll need to buy an ADT alarm with subscription and even then there is a slight risk of it going ‘bells only’. For context, my setup throught ADT would have been 800 installed and then 40 a month 930 more in the first year and then 480 a year more forever… So I’d definitely recommend this unless you’re a Jewellery store or bank.
4/5 would definitely recommend for most people. Would be 5/5 if the hub never disconnected, however overtime the server technology should improve this, I’d say my hub uptime is around 95% from what has been monitored so far.

Review for Yale Sync Smart Home Alarm (Works with Amazon Alexa)
Had some issues with setting up the account. Firstly I created an account and then could not login. I put it down to being a long password (20 chars)…. come on Yale, this is a security system 20 chars is not too long, and if it is tell me.
It happened setting up both my and my wifes account so no glitch.
Because of this, it did not show the accessories and no amount of paring fixed it. In the end fixed with with a google:
Settings -> System Info -> Press and hold SMS Balance for 10+ seconds until the ‘refresh panel’ box appears. That would have been impossible to figure out!
Now working I am happy with this. Yet to fit the siren, but in principle this works well. Arm via the app and easily configure upstairs and downstairs so can be used at night. Disarm via the app or keypad (with pin), also allows multiple pins for guest and other household members. Push alerts are almost instant.
Hue light go from green to red when arming, and you can pick the rooms. Can also set the whole house on red when there is a trigger.
The beeps from the hub are pretty loud when arming downstairs at night, which can wake the kids and would be good if you could set the level.
Also the motion sensors don’t seem to be very sensitive, but guess if we were burgled they would set off as a significant amount of movement would be required.
Hoping the batteries will last well, as will be a pain to remove the sticky pads (purchased separately). Also hoping the outdoor siren does not been when arming (seem to have been mentioned in some reviews). Will have to wait and see on that.
Also not yet tried the geo-sensing but have it set up for myself and my wife on the app, was pretty straightforward.
If the app was improved from an information and usability perspective (however it is functional), I could see this being the go to DIY alarm for the smart home. It does however require some investment from Yale (much like Philips is doing on an ongoing basis with HUE)

I had previously owned a Yale wireless alarm kit since 2005 and decided the main unit and the pir’s were looking a little drab and dated. Apart from the odd false alarms, by critters in the Conservatory, the alarm had been impeccable.
When it came to looking for a new alarm, I decided to look at some of the more expensive options available from other manufacturers, but there were some draw backs to these (location of fitment would be an issue to me, as I did not want to install the main unit in the hall and some units had modules required, so not really a diy option and fitters also charge a premium for installation!), as well as most stating that you require a yearly maintenance check, which I refuse to pay.
Luckily for me, Yale had just released new information about this, the Yale Sync Alarm! It sounded all too good to be true, as it had everything I wanted in an alarm – Wireless, Easy to install, small main unit for easy placement and a good price.
I purchased the Yale Sync alarm back in September 2018 and since then I have been extremely happy with my purchase and have not regretted it one bit. As others have mentioned, Yale did have a bit of nightmare a little while back, but to be honest I didn’t seem to be affected by it, so I was one of the lucky ones.
Recently I was a little frustrated by a change to the Yale app, whereby a notification would prompt you every time you opened the app! But this was resolved in an update that I received today, so no more unnecessary notifications on the phone!
Otherwise the app works great and no issues so far with the hardware 🙂

Value for your money
Had it for over a year and it is a great pice of kit, offers great value for the money!!!!
Setting up and installing the alarm was extremely easy. The IOS app has been updated and now the Siren Entry/exit beep can be turned off. Im extremely happy so far, the app is definitely not as bad anymore. Crashed for me once, Iphone x.
I was looking for a home Alarm system which embraced the smarter home!
I didn’t want to be running wires and drilling holes through walls!
I had been looking for a while but this came up on a lightning deal 50% off!
I was a little dubious about some of the negative reviews.
After I opened the box I just followed the simple easy to follow instructions and within an hour my system was fitted including pairing another door sensor! Batteries and fittings included! Couldn’t be any easier!
So far the app is working great “iPhone 6s” and I have just upgraded my phone to the “XR” and the app transferred devices without a glitch.
Simple and easy peace of mind!
Will be adding more sensors very soon!
I found using all the apps features easy and straightforward being able to test The system great. You can also set parameters for different sensors like time delay or instant.
You can also part alarm your system setting different zones. Very easy to use!

I managed to bag this kit on an Amazon daily deal around 200 and can see why the price is going up. It’s brand new on the market and, as you would expect, has had its teething issues. Still, I have no issues with the hardware. The app works fine despite the fact it could do with some more features. I’ve only had this installed over a week so I’ll try to keep my experience with this product to the point. At this stage I have not yet installed the external siren so I just have the internal siren in the hub and the app to notify me of movement.
1. Kit & Setup
There is a hub, siren, keypad door sensor and two x PIR (NOT pet friendly) sensors. Everything is wireless except the hub which needs power and an ethernet connection. It does have battery backup however. Power and ethernet cables are provided. I purchased another door sensor separately and have two additional PIR sensors on the way.
Setup was very easy. Plug the hub in, connect to broadband router, start taking battery isolation tabs out of equipment and mount them in place. It shouldn’t take more than half an hour to mount two PIR sensors to the wall via screws and then sticky tab a door sensor and a keypad.
It’s worth noting at this point you can mount door sensors either by sticky pads or screws. I will be fixing the keypad via screws but for now I used 3M command strips until I have a final location. The casings of the devices do not appear to have fixing holes, but if you open them up there are fixing hole locations that just need to be easily punched out. It’s a nice feature so you can decide whether to screw or sticky-pad the devices in place. All fixings come with the devices, just take note of the fixings for each item as they can differ a little depending on the device.
I’m an android user and found the Yale Home app on the Play Store straight away. It doesn’t get great reviews but this is likely down to the teething issues early on. It seems quite stable and has worked fine for me so far. There are a few steps to get setup but it’s really straightforward. Some of the options you’d like to see often are buried fairly deep in the app, so hopefully that will be sorted soon. An example would be the device check. If you want to see the status of each device you need to go to Menu>Settings>Alarm Settings>Devices. Really it should just be at the top level of the menu for quick access. Once you’ve done the walk test with all devices in place you’re good to go as everything comes paired already.
2. General Use
This is really easy to use. I have not got Alexa and I don’t plan on bringing her and her microphone into my home, but it all works fine without her. The app is configured as standard to sit in the notification bar. Although it may be annoying to some, you’re reminded every time you look at your phone whether your house is armed, disarmed or part armed. I generally like my notification bar clean but I’m happy with this. It means when I am about to put my phone down and go to sleep, I am reminded that I need to set my alarm. I open the app, swipe to arm, hear the beeps of the internal siren/hub and then I can rest knowing downstairs is safe.
So quick summary:
Pros:
Easy set up – both kit and software
Easy to use
Hub acts as internal siren – surprisingly loud
Stylish and simple looks
Cons:
Early days for software – teething issues
Not sure if external siren can be hardwired as I don’t fancy changing the batteries every couple of years
Only last night I had a door contact sensor issue. Everything was in place physically and I hadn’t faffed around, but it was showing as an issue. In the device menu there wasn’t a problem though. Maybe an app issue as nothing happened after we part-armed the house
That’s it for now really. Will try to update as my experience with this product develops.
UPDATE: 19/09/2020
It’s 4:40am and the smart hub is beeping loudly every 30 seconds. It has been doing this since yesterday afternoon when it was disconnected from the mains and put on battery backup.
Apparently there is no way to disable the beep, even during sleeping hours, hence why I am awake now.
I search online for the fault that comes up on the app – barely any results.
There should be an override to this audible beep and maybe persistent push notifications from the app. It just needs charging but it won’t stop beeping until it is fully charged. It is so loud I cannot sleep through it.
As the app is poor anyway and the system isn’t anything special, I will be looking to get rid and try another brand.
We bought the Yale smart after getting a quote of 390 quid for a wireless system.
It took me about a hour and a bit to get everything connected and hook up.
Having the ability to have different family members setup with their own pin is fantastic.
The notifications are a great way to see what’s happening to, and the remote unsets are a great way to disable your alarm prior to going into your house if your hands are full.
For the price I can’t knock it, the instructions are pretty basic there’s no wording just pictures but are relatively easy to follow.
The stick strips on the door chime set are not very good though. Once applied you can’t apply again if it comes off.
Other than that a great bit of kit for the price

This was (relatively) easy to set up, but do read the instructions first (or at least disable the siren using the app before fitting it). Knocked the tamper at the top the ladder and siren went off in my ear. Also instructions indicated some of the sensors have holes you can knock out with a screwdriver, but I had to apply so much force I decided is was safer to just drill them out instead (or you can always forgo the screws and stick them with the supplied 3M sticky tabs). Once it was all set up it’s worked fine. I believe the app has been updated since some more negative reviews, as I’ve had no problems with it. Would recommend for competent DIYer. I found the default settings send you loads of email and in-app notifications (i.e. every time the alarm is activated/deactivated, which is annoying in a house with lots of people coming and going), but this can be easily stopped using the app so that you’re only notified if the alarm is triggered.

Saw a lot of negative reviews about this product but decided to take a leap of faith and purchase anyway. Installation was incredibly easy – all devices came pre-connected to the hub. A few screws and all sensors and siren were up just fine.
Registration was easy and although the app is lacking functionality it has been fairly consistent and reliable (android). I had an issue that others have mentioned regarding entry/exit timer sounding on the external siren – very annoying to neighbours – and there is no support in the app yet to disable it – however after contacting Yale Customer Support they changed this for me remotely within 24hours and it’s now fine. They assured me that this change is coming to the app soon.
It connected to my Philips Hue as advertised and worked as expected. I haven’t tried Alexa functionality and probably won’t to be honest. I’m perfectly happy arming and disarming mostly via keypad, but also by the App.
I do still have an issue with part-arming however which means it’s basically useless at this time. I wanted to alarm my garage whilst I am still in the house using part-alarming, however in order to do it I have to set one of my “Entry Zone” sensors in the house to “Home Omit”. Unfortunately the side effect of this is that when I fully-alarm the system, it is no longer set as entry zone and the alarm will sound straight away when it detects an event. As soon as I can specify a version of “Home Omit” that has an entry zone timer for full-alarm instead of siren I’d be happy to give this product 5 stars.
Good system.
Good product and easy to install, it took about 3 hours start to finish. The only issue ive come across is the beeping of the external siren on entry/exit it is a tad annoying and I’m not sure my neighbours are going to like it when I get in at 5am. I’d have maybe give it 5 stars if it wasnt for this. On the whole though it’s a good little system. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the app but it seems ok so far I’m only on day 1 though so i may see further issues.
This system is fully expandable. You can part or fully arm your home.
This is a very easy to install system and very easy to expand. The system is great value and very reliable. You can arm and disarm the system from the key pad or by using the app on your phone, in addition you can purchase remote controls to arm and disarm.
Product overall is brilliant, so far worked flawlessly. Smart alarm was very easy to setup, not sure what everyone is moaning about with the app because it works fine for me.
You can set multiple codes and it let’s you know who has disarmed it. Each item (PIR/Door Sensor) is individually programmable which is very cool. You can also use a test mode to check the PIR and door sensors.
I’m no DIY expert, so this was perfect for me to be able to setup and it has been working well for just over a month. I bought this version as it seemed to be their latest and likely to have some focus from Yale for updates/extensions etc.
Being able to control via the app certainly helped sell it to the younger members of the household!
The Alexa features were not a priority for me (even though I am a keen Alexa user), so can’t comment on how useful they are.
Installed the Sync alarm into our new home yesterday,
Simple installation, quick and easy, love the feature of my Conexis being able to disarm my alarm when we unlock the front door and also being able to unlock the door and arm and disarm the alarm from the App anywhere i am.
The App also pulls through all of my other Yale apps into one so no switching from each one (Home View – for my internal IP cameras, Yale View for my CCTV system and Conexis for the smart door lock.)
When tested and triggered i had an in App prompt to view my internal or external cameras.
Great Job Yale!
Brilliant alarm although supplied batteries were not good at all
Fantastic system
Think this is a fantastic system. For a DIY set up that works wirelessly and remotely it’s great value. Love being able to remotely check its status, be notified of any events and set it. Have had it over a year and it’s been very reliable. When I bought it there was nothing else that came close to doing all this. I haven’t tried using it with Alexa though but mainly because the keypad can be mounted somewhere convenient and is quicker to use.
Installing an Alarm should not be this simple!
After doing pretty extensive research, this alarm appealed to me as the best value for money with the most features including the ability to operate from an App. It has integration with Amazon Alexa and Philips Hue colour bulbs which has meant I’ve enjoyed deliberately setting the alarm off just to watch the house flash RED (then realised I could test the Philips hue integration in the app without the alarm sounding). Everything can be controlled via your smartphone which seems to work well. It’s worth spending 30 minutes going through all the settings via the app to get the most from the system. Overall I love it. Highly recommend
A lot of the complaints I see about this product revolve around people having installation problems, issues with Alexa, or not having any idea how to use a wireless system.
Setup is a breeze. It took me two hours total, from unboxing to tidying up being done. I would recommend putting up all the devices before doing the online setup, just for simplicity.
You can arm it three simple ways: the app, the key fob, or keypad. It disarms just as easy and consistently. The wording is awkward, but it makes sense. Alexa can set alarms or timers, so it has to avoid the crossover by naming the specific product.
For ~250 you can get a high quality alarm, that notifies you via email or any changes, and works with Alexa.
Ignore those who didn’t bother to read the box. If you want a good alarm for a cheap price, you’re not getting better than this.

Easy to install and the app is now much bette
This is the second one I have installed and they are really easy to do yourself. I love that there are no fees for remote alerting and couple with Ring doorbell, Ring Floodlight cam this makes a great home security system that allows people to monitor their homes when they are out.
One drawback is that the designers of the app only considered that people would have one of these. If you have multiple homes or premises that you want to have them fitted to you have to login to the app using an account for each. It would be a lot better if they could be logged in to all at the same time.
My first alarm
Being a well known brand I thought Yale would be the best choice for a smart alarm system. Although the box arrived damaged, installation was a lot easier than expected as the app guides you through much of the process. The Alexa integration is pretty basic but the Philips Hue stuff is super cool! Yet to try some of the other features, but so far so good! A++
Good system but fiddly app
The system is very easy to set up, once you’ve managed to work your way through the App, especially setting up of pin codes and sub accounts for everyone in the house.
The problem I had with setup was that it told me account setup failed, but refused to let me then great one as it was already set up. In fact the original failure was wasn’t and it then worked fine.
Although wireless, the Yale hen does need to plug into an RJ45 port on you router or a switch, so bear this in mind that you need a spare power socket next to your router,
Overall very good, however the price of extra sensors does seem high compared to those for other Yale wireless alarm systems.
Love there products and have upgraded to this system now. It works , the app has some good options and like the Phillips Hue settings and has only frozen a few times resolved by a restart.
I highly recommend this product because with little to no expertise required, it works straight out of the box. Set up is easy and simple thanks to the how-to install video on YouTube and the super handy question-mark help area in the app. The ability to control my alarm from my smartphone (remotely arm/disarm is my favourite feature!) was the primary reason I wanted to buy a smart alarm and being world renowned for security, Yale fit the bill. Sync is their latest offering and I’m thrilled to have secured my house with a top notch system – without drilling through walls and redecorating! Despite the negative reviews on here (issues experienced probably due to factors that are not related to the product, such as wifi connection) Sync is an excellent option for a family home with the multiple methods of arming and disarming, there’s a physical keypad and key fob (optional accessory) as well as the app to offer secure access regardless of your internet connection. Along with the added integrations with Alexa and Philips Hue to upgrade my home in the ‘smart’ stakes, it’s an exciting piece of kit.

Having had an older Yale alarm system at my house for years which worked well i was looking forward to getting the newer version which i can control from my phone. I have to say i am extremely impressed with the new system and so glad i bought it. With this alarm fitting is a lot easier than my old system as the accessories all come pre-paired together. The product looks modern and it is great to be able to check on my house using the app. I am very happy with my purchase.
When it comes to alarms Yale is a household name. I had one of their alarms at my last house so I thought I’d give this one a go despite the bad reviews. I also have a shed with my bike in etc. so the 200m range was a big benefit for me. Plus I don’t have to pay 10 a month for app access etc.
Overall the alarm is great value for the price but it has some flaws.
Installation – 4/5
Reading the instructions was a nightmare. I found the video on youtube which made it a lot easier. WATCH THE VIDEO!
App – 3/5
As with all Yale apps, it’s okay and reasonably easy to navigate. A few issues logging in but it’s okay. Why they have so many apps is beyond me. Why can’t I control my Alarm and cameras on one app is annoying.
Alexa – 3/5
It’s harder than I thought to use with Alexa. I probably won’t use it.

I’m really impressed with this alarm kit from Yale, and having tested a few of their products, including an automated lock, their app and wireless hardware development really seems to be coming along well.
In this pack you get a base station, two motion sensors, an open/closed sensor, a keypad and an alarm box. There’s no doubt that to fully protect a normal home you’re need to invest in additional products, and there’s quite a lot of compatible kit available including a smoke detector, pet-proof movement sensor (the kit includes the normal sensor), a personal attack button, two Yale smart locks, a remote keyring, Yale Home View Cameras which activate of the alarm goes off, and Yale UK plugs that can turn on and off as instructed by the alarm system. In common with many wireless alarm systems these accessories are not cheap so it’s worth comparing the cost of the components you need with more traditional alarm systems with some smart features to get an idea of likely cost differences. In total 40 components can be linked to the control box which should meet the needs of most users.
In my case I have installed the complete system in my garage and the only additional item I might buy is an open/close sensor for the side door. The key pad is on the wall close to where I exit my car, the two motion sensors are mounted in corners of the garage giving full coverage of any movement, the open/close sensor is mounted on my automated garage door and will activate if the door is opened, and I have installed the alarm box high on an internal wall in the garage. The base station has to be physically connected via an Ethernet cable to your router so, in theory, it needs to be installed within a metre or so of the router and needs a power socket. In practice though the system will run from a wifi extension unit with an Ethernet input so you could put the box in the garage. You must have a wifi system for the alarm to function. I have a mesh wifi system in my house with good coverage everywhere but if you don’t installing a wifi extension box close to where the alarm components are might make installation neater and should ensure a good wifi connection which will allow the Yale system to work effectively. In any event, as the Yale instruction book points out, it’s worth planning carefully where you are going to install the components in advance.
I have virtually no DIY skills but have installed two other wireless alarms/smart home systems and I’m also IT literate. Installation in the garage of all the components, the control box by the router, and full installation and functionality of the associated Yale app took about three hours. Incidentally you will also need a iOS of Android smart phone to install the system at the very least although for easy operation you really need access to the app regularly.
Installation is not as straightforward as some systems where there’s an option use strong double-side sticky tape to place devices on walls. Only the open/close sensor has this with Yale, an option I used. All other elements need to be drilled to a suitable wall. Appropriate screws and raw plugs are provided, but a suitably sized drill bit (and obviously a drill) are not. You’ll also need specialised fittings to secure items to cavity walls. All the walls in my garage are brick to I could use the supplied screws and raw plugs.
Much to my surprise, with only one minor slip, I managed to drill holes in the correct places and secure all the items to the wall – that’s the two PIR movement sensors, the key code box, and the alarm box. All but the alarm box needs two screws, the alarm box needs four. Most fiddly was installing the PIR units in the corners of the garage walls. They can be installed flat against a wall more easily but I think offer poorer coverage.
Apart from the physical installation of the devices there’s the associated electronic wifi related installation. This is done via the Yale Home app which needs to be downloaded and linked to the Yale control box. In essence this means the app looking for the base unit and you entering the serial number on the bottom of the control box. This worked flawlessly. Conveniently all of the components in the kit are already paired with the control box. As a result you do not need to link all the items which with other systems can be an issue. Yale suggest that you remove the various plastic strips to power up the batteries in the components and place them each more or less in the position you intend to install them. The app checks the wifi signal strength for each device and displays it – you need to press a ‘test connection’ button on each device which also confirms it is successfully links to the base unit. In my case all of the devices recorded a very strong signal and linked first time with the base box.
So you attach the items to the walls, start up the app, add PIN numbers for the key box and that’s it. You can add 10 PIN numbers in total and send app installation details to other users. The app allows you to set and unset the alarm and although the layout for changing some of the settings is not entirely straightforward the basic setting and unsetting is very easy indeed. The system has now been in place for 48 hours with no false alarms and has worked just as intended.
So easy was the system to install, including advice on installation from the app as components were added, that I had no need to refer to any instructions other than the supplied Yale pictorially based 24-page booklet. This covers several versions of the alarm but component by component so if you don’t have the smoke alarm – which you won’t in this kit – you just ignore the couple of pages that deal with this. There are guidance videos on YouTube apparently and the Yale site had some further instructions. I did need to refer to the latter to discover exactly how to set and turn off the alarm using the key pad. To set it you just press the ‘full-set’ or ‘partial-set’ button. No key code is needed. To unset the alarm you need to press the unset button and then enter your code. Setting and unsetting the alarm is very easy via app. Once you’re logged in no further code is needed.
So all this is very good indeed. No physical or electronic installation problems and an app that works well. The system gets better in that it can be linked to Amazon’s Alex smart speaker easily by installing the Yale skill and linking Alexa to your Yale alarm account. It takes seconds to do. You can set the alarm using Alexa but not turn it off for security reasons – a burglar might just guess the alarm could be cancelled by asking Alexa! The Yale system links directly to the Philips Hue smart light system. I’ve a lot of these lights and again you just enter your Hue account deals, this time from within the Yale app itself (and not via Alexa) which again takes seconds. Then if the alarm goes of you can chose to turn hue lights on and more.
Brilliant as the system is there are some limitations. The system will work if your internet connection is down in the sense that the alarm will activate. However, it will not alert you by email or text message to a security breach. Other smart alarms such as a Honeywell system gets around this by adding a SIM card to the control box so the mobile phone system is used to send texts and emails if the internet is down.
Not all software elements are currently active – for example I can’t install alarm control on my Apple Watch currently although this is promised in November or December.
In terms of equipment whilst the Yale Smart Lock will work with the alarm you need to buy a 15 additional unit for the smart lock to get it to work with the system and some have questioned how well this works or if more software development is needed.
As all but the base box require batteries to work it’s an issue of how long they will last. Yale suggest two to three years. The base unit has a back up rechargeable battery so will work in the case of a power cut.
Finally I’d like some additional components such as a break-glass sensor which reduces the enormous cost of having to install open/closed sensors on every window. I’d also like a Nest-like combined smoke and carbon monoxide sensor as part of a more sophisticated environmental detector. There’s no sensor to alert you to water ingress either for example.
The length of this review should suggest how impressed I am with this system. There are some shortcomings, but I think it’s the best wifi alarm I’ve tested to date. So a very firm five stars. And my cat found the box interesting!
Proof reading of this long review to follow…
My wife convinced me to buy this product recently and have to say I’m really impressed with the system as a whole, we bought quite a few extras with it as I wanted to cover my garage and external shed, the system has great range the shed sensor showed good signal strength and is working perfectly, adding extras to the system is a doddle, quick push of a button to add a device so installation only took a few hours and that’s mounting 6 PIR sensors, 5 door contacts, 2 alarm sirens and a keypad, I’ve found the App pretty simple to use and making changes to how the system works takes seconds, all in all for it’s ease of installation and functionality it’s great value for money! I would definitely recommend this product!
This product is totally DIY. It took me less than an hour to set it up and I have to say I’m really impressed the features are spot on and the integrations are really interesting, I’m already looking to purchase some Philips bulbs. Great alarm and does exactly what he says on the tin.
I can’t understand the negative responses here, yes the instructions are a little brief, but it’s hardly rocket science. This is so so easy and simple to set up. I have mine connected to the L1 door handle too, it’s great! You can’t ask for an easier set up… pair, name, done! Had this running now for a.week with no issues at all, the alerts are prompt, everything paired first time… even the PIR on the other side of a steel lintel in the far corner of the house!
Would I recommend this product? Absolutely! Especially if you have the cctv and connexis handle too! I read somewhere it’s all going to be controlled in one stand alone app soon… that’ll be impressive!

Well – having tried to fit a different make of burglar alarm system a couple of years ago to my son’s house, and having nearly deafened my self in the process, I eventually gave up and brought in a local expert fitter… but not with this one. Emboldened by seeing what that fitter did, I decided to give this a go myself. The installation took me under two hours – it really was straightforward although you do need to be safe climbing a ladder and drilling into brick.
Why some people are giving this alarm one star, I can’t imagine – but they clearly have had a bad experience. My thoughts are that issues, when they arise, are wi-fi related since we had many issues with Ring security cameras when we first installed them around a year or two ago. Ring advised that it was our wifi but I didn’t really believe them as we had 200mbs VirginMedia cable wifi. However, after much time-wasting frustration with various ways to boost the wi-fi signal, we eventually forked out a couple of hundred pounds, with some disgust, to buy a set of three BT Whole Home WIfi discs. We’ve never looked back. Ring customer service were right – our wifi wasn’t strong enough. Since installing that wonderful BT kit, our cameras have worked well – as does this Yale alarm. I suspect, therefore, that you need to be in a home with a truly solid wi-fi signal if you are to buy this or any similar device that relies on the Internet to work.
We have Alexa throughout the house, and Philips Hue lighting – but I haven’t set that up yet. I have no reason to think it won’t work well but will amend my review if not. As it stands, I cannot do other than to recommend this home burglar alarm system.
I’ve bought Yale products before and found them reliable and have their security rated cylinders on the doors. The app is easy to setup and the rest of the kit easy enough to install, just remember you need a decent drill for brickwork to mount the siren. I probably need another PIR’s for complete coverage of the garage and shed. I wanted to see how loud it was so triggered it on purpose and it’s really loud. Got the neighbours attention!
The smart/remote element is really useful as we have builders in and out at the moment and so far I’ve not been disappointed. Smooth integration with Alexa, and although the voice commands are a different to what I expected and you can’t add them to Alexa Routines (yet?) this is a real plus feature of the product for me. Would happily recommend to others.
My Dad bought this for me and installed it over the weekend – so far so good! Can’t comment on Alexa as I don’t currently have one (it’s on my Christmas list!) but have Philips Hue lights and linked these in the app – very straightforward and fascinated by children when I tested it and the lights flashed red, haha!
I’ve been using an HSA6400 to secure my home since 2011 and have been very happy with the extra security that it helps to bring.
It has served us well and was capable of phoning out to us when triggered (which has been used a couple of times) but didn’t have any smart capability or app integration.
Therefore the opportunity to move up to an app controlled and monitored modern smart alarm was something I was very keen to do.
Immediately it is clear how much things have moved on. Set-up is now instigated by installing the app and then guided from there. This is a huge step forwards from the complicated instructions (and even guidance video) needed for my previous system with it’s complicated base unit for pairing and setting everything.
Here i just set-up the app, the base station (which requires a spare ethernet port on your router and plug socket), activated the devices (window sensor, two motion sensors, keypad , siren) and then arming is very easy via the keypad and all can be monitored and notifications received on my mobile via the app.
It’s worth noting that the siren was exactly the same size and shape as the old one, so a simple straight swap. We did have to drill a couple of holes for the PIR sensors and keypad though. Didn’t take long at all but worth noting.
One little tip on this: I was getting a constant beeping and battery warning. I eventually found that there is a little rubber cover on the back of the hub, Remove this and switch this to “on” to activate the backup battery. The sound and warning then goes away.
There is also an Alexa skill for this that allows you to turn the alarm on and off as well as control other smart switches. I’ve only tried it for arming but it seems to work fine, I’ll probably mostly use the app or just use the keypad as I always have as I leave the house if I am honest.
Overall I am very pleased with this, it’s an excellent replacement for my old alarm. The only slight negative is the old kit came with a dummy spare siren for display and extra window sensor, but given the extra functionality and software now available with this one that feels like a fair compromise. A great do-it-yourself security kit. I’d definitely recommend getting an extra couple of window sensors though and am doing exactly that.
I have to say I think this is an excellent alarm system, definitely worth the price paid. The components are solid which pleasantly surprised me and I installed them in no time. You can customise everything on the app including whether you get notifications by email, push, text and whether you want them on arming/disarming or siren activations. You can activate door chime, turn on/off sensors, turn on the flashing LED on the bell box (flashing anywhere between 5-60 seconds). This reduces battery life obvs but they are only D cell.
I was concerned that the PIRs didn’t seem very responsive initially but after a Google it became apparent they are in sleep mode for one minute after arming to let the room settle I guess. And yes, after this time has passed they work perfectly.
The biggest issue I’ve had which was all over the news was the app crashing, however the alarm still worked as a bells only system and I just used the keypad. It wasn’t chaos as reported- just temporarily lost the ‘smart’ aspect. I’m sure Yale will sort the ‘smart’ issues as it is the future of their company and they know it.
I haven’t used it with ALEXA yet as haven’t been bothered to set it up and using the app/pushing the keypad arm button once is not exactly hard.
So yes four stars at least. Need to ensure app is reliable but otherwise excellent.
I’ve had the alarm running for 24hrs and will update when it’s been running for a few months but thought an initial set up review would have helped me.
I am no expert in DIY or IT however downloaded app and this guides you through setup. Worked perfectly for me, the app gets some really poor reviews but for me it worked well straightforward and intuitive.
Bought this alarm early last week and so far been very impressed. Quality is a lot better than I thought considering the price – the bell box is sturdy and all components modern and neat. My husband used video instructions to fit the alarm and set up the app, and he found both fairly simple. The main incentive to buy was the fact it can be integrated with Philips Hue and Alexa, which we’ve had for a while, so it seemed like a good choice. I also like the fact it’ll remind me on my phone if I forget to set it! Definitely made the right decision — good integrations, easy to use app and quality product.
We’ve recently moved into a new build and were after an alarm that offered a bit more than the standard home alarm. We already get a lot of use out of our Alexa and have got a smart thermostat installed so we just wanted something that would fit with our existing home systems. Installation was fine. We are both familiar with using apps and actually found this one really straight forward. Very impressed so far and keen to use some of the other features on it. Overall we have found this to be a great product and especially for the price point as we didn’t want a monthly monitoring fee, just an alarm that we can rely on. So far so good 🙂
The app works really well! I was slightly sceptical buying this product after seeing some of the reviews on other Yale apps but it works perfectly (glad they’ve got the memo) — it’s really easy to use and I’ve had no problems with it so far I’d go as far as saying its one of the best security apps I’ve seen on the market. The part arm feature is also ideal if you have a dog.

Solid home alarm
I’ve been waiting patiently for this to come for a whole month! And it is well worth the wait. I wanted the alarm to cover my garden shed (as well as my house) because I’d been targeted with attempted burglary over the summer. I’ve also bought padlocks to avoid this happening again. The alarm works really well and it’s VERY loud so should do the job if anyone tries to break in again. The app is easy to use and it’s helpful that you can turn the alarm on and off from anywhere so if you forget or need to turn it off if someone needs to come in you can.
Firstly had a problem registrering the system in the App using IOS not sure if this was due to delivery by amazon 2 days before release or not but managed to register fine using android app.
Once registered setup was very straight forward just make sure you select “bypass” in settings for all pre registered devices before installing in required location or you will be getting very sore ears from the alarm triggered due to tamper switch activating when opening sensors and on back of door/window alarm.
Once installed reactivate the sensors.
So far I have had no other problems with the app. After registering I was able to login on IOS with details I created on android and all works fine.
All devices were preregistered so minimal setup just place all devices in required position and that’s all. It took no more than 1.5 hours total excluding initial iOS app issues.
As mentioned I bought this as a pre order and this was officially released today 1st Oct 2018 with a price drop from 276.86 to 219.99 so that’s great according to pre-order price guarantee you pay lowest price offered up to the end of the day on the release date. But amazon have not currently honoured this (still investigating) at first refused to refund difference as the pre order came with an offer of either free Philips hue mini starter kit or free echo dot (I got Philips hue) but amazon applied the discount across both purchases showing the Yale as purchase price of 201. This I explained was not the case as it was purchased for 276.86 and the Philips hue was FREE. Their system applies the discount incorrectly so if you got the free device whichever it maybe make sure amazon honours its pre order guarantee and gives you a refund.
*Update on Alexa functionality*
Alexa controls in its current initial form are virtually useless and a waste of time.
The phrase needed to do any actions is far to long and doesn’t always do what you ask.
I have tried many different forms of shortened phrases but none work thus far.
Much quicker to use app/pin code or buy key fob additional accessory 30.
*Philips Hue*
Nice added feature where lights flash green when arming alarm or red when alarm is triggered by sensor if you already have hue bulbs or got them with the Yale alarm free but not worth purchasing purely for this function at regular price.
Very easy to pair with hue then you are able to choose individually which bulbs activate and which don’t within Yale app.
*Price guarantee*
Amazon have honoured the price guarantee for me refunding 56.87. So have amended up the star rating to 5 stars.
Alarm system works very well only minor issue is Alexa which will hopefully improve with time.
