A decent quality solution without breaking the bank
Pros: A good quality system that is mostly easy enough to fit and operate, especially with the smartphone app. Not bad value for money (although two door sensors would have been nice for that money) and the expansions for the system is a nice touch, particularly the lights and door locks. Zero faff – everything works wirelessly through the router and is pre-paired for easy install.

Cons: The DC sensors are a little bit chunky and aren’t always the most straightforward of things to fit, unless you opt for sticky pads (which, in fairness, are supplied). The instructions are a bit on the sparse side, other users complain about them not being too descriptive; I understand why. That said, Yale have a range of YouTube tutorial videos too and if you have a decent handle on DIY you should be fine.

4* rather than 5* because of that door sensor, but overall pleased with the solution.

    Great system
My garage, two garden sheds and the two points of entry to our house are covered by this system. No false activations and on the occasions I have failed to de-activate the system it goes off as soon as I open a door.Easy to use and gives me peace of mind.

Generally very good ,easy to install but I found the window/door sensors tricky to successfully fit on uPVC doors. The sticky pads supplied do not last very long . You can attach the main part with screws easily enough but the smaller part is more tricky.

    Very handy smart alarm features.
Great battery life, after they fixed the app this is a near perfect smart alarm. It allows the whole family to arm and disarm the alarm on their phones through the WiFi, they can also do it away from home. It will text everyone if the alarm goes off aswell, letting us know if someone broke into the house away from home. Paired with a CCTV system, this alarm is great for security.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSolid and stable alarm system (Yale IA-320 Sync Smart Home Alarm)
A wireless security system that is easy to set up and has to facility to be armed or disarmed wherever you are.

I bought this from Amazon in a Black Friday deal, and with the money saved, purchased an extra PIR sensor. I found the set up of the system straightforward. The instructions aren’t the best to be fair, but if you have a modicum of common sense, then they aren’t as bad as others have said. The only help I need was fixing the alarm box to the wall of the house, as I didn’t have a ladder.

Registering the product is recommended. The alarm can be set remotely or by using the included keypad. Zones can also be set, for example, the downstairs can be alarmed fir when you’re upstairs in bed. Our preference of arming the system is by way of the Yale Home Security smart phone app. It can be a bit flakey at times but with several updates it has become more stable. It offers the reassurance that if you leave the house and are unsure whether you’ve alarmed it, you’re able to check it’s status, and arm/disarm from wherever you are. You are also able to introduce guests or family members onto the app account so if you need family members to house sit or check on your property while you’re out, if they don’t have your key code, they can use the app. It is secure. We haven’t gone down the Alexa interactivity, so I can’t comment. But I don’t use Alexa for anything other than playing music and doing the shopping list. Not for lights, or security.

I’ve also noticed on another review, that the wall box beeps when the alarm is activated or deactivated, and would disturb the neighbours. I have to say, our alarm is silent when it is set. This may have been an option to adjust from within the app. The only thing that beeps is the internal box inside the property that only we can hear when the alarm is armed/disarmed.

I’ve recommended this product to others, with no negative feedback, so from purely personal experience, I’d recommend it again.

    Easy to setup and install
Found this very easy to install, i wouldnt recommend using the stickers to hold the sensors in place as they fall off quite easily even after cleaning surfaces with alcohol wipes etc before sticking. This can then cause the alarm to go off.
Screwing into doors and windows is easy and quite un-noticeable. my windows have a beveled edge so the two sensors are not level to each other, one sensor is on a bit or a angle but works perfectly and you really dont notice them when installed.

The app works well, and if you have an apple watch it sends a reminder when it notices you have left home to set the alarm at a push of a button on the screen, equally when it detects you get close to home the same button appears to disarm the home.

at the price, it is great to give peace of mind to my family.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to install and set up
I took the plunge and purchased this smart alarm as i thought it would be a excellent diy project during coronavirus lockdown. Also there has been a increase in burglaries during lockdown so another reason to purchase. I have to say this was so easy to setup especially using the yale smart home app. i purchased extra door sensors and key fobs and was able to add them to the system with ease using the app. I did buy some extra 3m double sided pads to stick sensors to doors. The hardest part was climbing up a ladder outside to fit the external siren. Using the app you can configure which sensors are triggered in part alarm modes which is very convenient when you are at home and still moving around. I would recommend this system to others and only basic diy skills required.

So far so good! Takes a while to figure it out as the manual is slightly confusing on the steps, def need the application on your phone to set this up. Once you’ve done that and paired the devices installation is easy, you don’t need an installer save yourself 200+. The application is easy to use, I get alerts when it’s armed or goes off whether in the house or not. Works with Alexa, limited configuration options on part alarm but I guess that will be improved with updates. Not tested the pet feature working on that with the Gf to get a dog 🙂 would recommend and the fact it’s all wireless it’s a bonus ! Ps you need a network cable in the back fo hub for registration and alerting.

Some clunky issues but generally good.
This alarm was used to replace an already ‘smart’ alarm.
It was very easy to set up and sync all the different devices. It is great that it is completely wireless and makes positioning of devices really easy. The range is wide enough for our house and into the garage. The app is clear and simple enough to use. No issues with that. You get notifications across devices when the alarm is set / disarmed and this can be done on approaching the house which is great. The use of Alexa is very limited. Yes she can set the alarm. However, the command is initially very long winded. We have managed to shorten this to ‘arm security’ which is better. She can only arm the alarm in ‘home mode’ which I guess is correct as to use Alexa you have to be in the house….. however, would be nice to be able to set this on the way out. She does need the key code to disarm as well so that is a good safety feature. However, the phone app is simple enough so I guess it’s ok.
We also added on the key fobs with this. Given the simplicity of the app these are a little redundant. You have to press the fob for it to connect, wait 2-3 seconds and then press again for it to set. To disarm, you only have to press it once and again the range is good. But this is actually easier on the app. Good for family / neighbours to have in case of emergencies though. We also have similar issues with the keypad. You have to press a button for it to connect and then press the arm/disarm key and code. This is a little hard to use. If you have your phone in hand, again much quicker to just press disarm on this.
Overall I am happy with the system and would recommend it. We will probably add devices as they are released as this was very new out when we bought it.
Would be really good to have an RFID tag to be able to swipe on entry (no buttons) as on my previous alarm, but given that the main hub has to be wired to the router and the keyfob is not constantly connected this is probably not going to happen. This allowed us to know who had entered as well (family member etc) which is a feature I miss.
Customer services are VERY slow to respond but do message eventually. Calling them is a better option when possible.

All in all it does the job nicely
Bought this for my first home for the ease of set up and the ability to take it with me if I eventually leave.
It was very simple to set up. I stuck the detectors up with command strips for ease and they’ve been up for 5 months now with no issues. I found the trickiest bit was connecting the door senor but once I found the spacer in the box it solved that problem!
The alarm can be set through the remote it comes with, which I also stuck to the wall with a command strip, but I do find it slight flimsy and a little odd to function but it does the job.
I usually set using the app.
It has a full setting or a part setting which is suitable if you have animals. The alarm must be connected to WiFi at all times and it will let you know in the app if it is connected and functioning correctly.
If the alarm does go off it has the ability to text others to let them know and so my parents both receive texts in the event an intruder enters the home while I’m there.
The reminder to set your alarm when you leave is a bit touch and go to say the least so I wouldn’t rely on it.
All in all it does the job. Turns on and off. App is handy for adjustments to settings and turning the alarm on or off when out of the house. It notifies when it needs to and was an easy set up (keeping in mind I have very limited DIY skills).
I’d recommend it for the ease and simplicity

Great system, very easy to install
A really clear, simple set up. We also added two smoke/heat/motion detectors and a panic alarm to the system which were configured very easily. We love that you can arm/disarm it from a smartphone. It’s also very easy to disable certain sensors if required (e.g. decorating). The unit performs a self test periodically and seems very robust. It would have been good to have a regular flash in the bell box, even if this was a separate battery pack – or even solar power would be good for the bell box.

Simple to install & set up
Had no problem installing and setting up the IA-320 kit which works fine. App is basic but does the job. Instructions could be better – diagrams are all very well but a text based description of the system’s capabilities and modes of operation would have been helpful. There are also various quirks to confuse the unwary. For example, after completing the installation I set the alarm and then remained in the building to check that it worked. After the entry/exit time delay had elapsed I operated the door contacts – alarm immediately started to time down and on expiry of the time delay the external sounder operated. Good. I then tried doing the same thing with the PIR detectors and had no joy. Eventually I discovered an entry in the Yale FAQ that says “The PIR goes into sleep mode for two minutes. Please vacate the area covered by the PIR for a full 2 minutes before testing”. So now you know.

Another point. I decided to purchase an additional PIR detector (for my detached garage if you’re interested). Obviously the new unit was not linked to the Yale hub so I tried to pair it using the “Add Device” feature of the App. What a load of hassle! Initially the App didn’t find the PIR at all but after removing the batteries and reinstalling them a couple of times the App/hub began to find the device only to conk out with a series of error messages. I persevered and eventually the PIR linked up OK. What the problem was I’ll never know.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRecommend for the price, but it's not perfec
We bought the Yale Smart Alarm after we decided we really ought to have some home security, but didn’t want to spend a fortune. We also fancied something with a bit of smart integration.

We have been both pleased and disappointed in this system. First the things it does well:

Easy to install: it is all paired and you just have to download the app and follow the instructions. Other reviewers found this tricky, but it was all very straight forward for us. You just press the learn button on each device when prompted and it adds it to the system. We bought a few extra bits to add on and each device was added without a problem.

The only difficulty was that the door contact came without a spring on the back that forms the tamper switch. Obviously we didn’t know it needed this so couldn’t understand why it kept faulting. But a quick call to customer support sorted it out and they sent a new spring within 2-3 days.

Customer support: as above. Easy to get a hold of (within their office hours) and they sorted the problem straight away with minimal delay.

App controlled: I like that I can set or deactivate the alarm from anywhere. I like push notifications when anything happens: alarm set, triggered or activated. I like that I can add my wife and anyone else as users so they can download the app and control the system too.

It works: No further problems with the devices, they all work really well.

Customisable settings: I love that from the app I can set whether each device triggers a countdown, immediate alarm, or is completely ignored. And you can set each one for both fully armed and part armed modes. For example: when the system is fully armed (if we are away), my landing sensor can immediately set the siren off when triggered. But when part armed, it is omitted so we don’t trigger alarms when going to the loo or when we get up in the morning.

And finally some of the things that disappointed us:

    – The hub has to be within reach of the WiFi router. This limits where it can go and in our house that means we often can’t hear the countdown chimes. So on occasion I have left through a door (forgetting that the system was part-armed) and 30 seconds later my wife has jumped out of her skin when the alarm blares

    – Some of the setting in the app are not initially easy to find. Once you know where they are it is great, you just have to track them down!

    – When there is a fault, the hub beeps every thirty seconds until it is resolved. This drove me mad and you can’t silence it temporarily. I found a workaround by unpairing the faulty sensor until the new tamper spring arrived. It was then very easy to set up again.

    – Geofencing doesn’t seem to work for me. Not a big problem, but it would be a nice feature to have.

Finally, some advice and the overall judgement:

    * If you don’t want to put holes in the walls to mount the sensors you can use a strong tape (we used Gorilla Glue tape but 3M would work great too). The door/window sensors come with pre-shaped tape but the PIRs, keypad etc do not.

    * Overall, I recommend this product. It has its faults but for the price I’m happy with my purchase.

Surprisingly easy to install and use.
I needed an alarm for my apartment, and this kit was fantastic. It’s two sensors cover the lounge and balcony, the other in my bedroom, and I’ve actually put them on integral stairs, they’re discreet, secure in the corner, and would pick up movement not only in the rooms but also entering this way. The alarm unit is discrete, with, if you keep it visible, a simple LED light display to let you know the status Etc of the unit. It’s incredibly loud, and easily heard outside. I didn’t have room at the back of my Internet hub, so I connected this via a cable under my iMac using an Ethernet hub. And it works fine. The keypad is large enough to hold by hand, but too small to wall mount, however it’s very handy to leave by the door, with a simple ‘Lock’ button which is nice, no need for a code going out. The system can be fully or part armed, again great for downstairs. If you rent it’s a great system as you don’t have to wall mount anything, and can of course take it with you.
The kit comes with door sensors too, however I didn’t stick these on ( I think you can screw fix them as well, not sure) as my set up with the sensors was great, as well as a key fob alarm ‘arm / disarm’ button and a dummy alarm box for outside, unfortunately this needs proper fixing so I didn’t use it.
In addition the Apple app is fantastically simple, with basic commands.
You can also get text alerts, and emails detailing system events ie locking up, unlocking, movement Etc.
All in all, it’s the most inclusive easy to use and set up alarm I’ve seen, and definitely the best on the market right now.
Finally you can buy add on bits for it, additional door sensors, keypads, even a key fob!
I also have a Yale camera, which unfortunately doesn’t link into the system in any useful way, other than generate system information, ie lights going on / off and texting and emailing you if there’s movement, as well as the hub beeping briefly when you arm or disarm it.
I’d really like to see Philips Hue integration, for light alerts from the camera, however the alarm system itself can trigger Hue red lights to flash if an alarm is triggered.
    So, in conclusion, fantastic system.

I had ti return the IA230 due to a fault but gave Yale another go and went for the IA330. Excellent product, easy to set up and the app and management of the system is really straight forward. Having seen both systems the 3 series is way superior; go for that.

Easy to fit, just follow the steps given. Fitted sensors on 2 doors and sensors in 2 rooms with the siren box outside. found very easy to install and set up. Works well and the siren is loud. Had it a few month now and had no issues. App works fine. love that you can turn on and off from the app and messages you if the alarm has gone off.

    works well now....
One of the sensors is duff. Sometimes responds and most times not. I first tested with tiny movements as the family held pillows over their ears in anticipation of the apocalyptic noise I pre warned them about. These tiny movements progressed into more of a MJ moonwalk, still nothing, finally doing jumping Jack’s, flying kicks and silver back chest beating… Nothing! Disarmed then rearmed and the thing went off nearly giving me a heart attack. However it then stopped responding again. Also the tamper disable feature doesnt work. This was all after testing with device walk through then checking sensors activated the alarm and screwing the sensors in place.

I await call back fron tech support before I update this review

    update.
After waiting for 2 call backs from Amazon support, which did not happen (well one happened hours after the stated time I had already fixed the issues), I decided to call Yale directly. To cut a long story short, they pushed a firmware upgrade to my alarm which looks to have sorted various issues.

    Some pointers.

You need to give the sensors 2 mins before you can move in front of them.
The external siren that does a series of beeps when you arm and disarm can be disabled but not via the app, Yale support have to do it (I didn’t want to alert the neighbourhood everytime I was coming and going).
The door sensor is designed for doors that close flush, alot of upvc doors have a ridge.

A great little system once you get it set up. I had a problem with the sounder and then couldn’t reset the bridge fault lamps without resetting the bridge. Worked this out myself as nothing in the instructions. They could be a little better but that’s the only problem I had. Great App but you have to dig around to find all the features.

    One of my better purchases
After reading around and looking at all of the various different alarms on the market, I eventually took the plunge and went for this. It’s one of the best bits of smart tech that I’ve bought so far.
Setting up was very easy and it does everything that I need it to. Sensors that come in the box are already paired and because it’s modular, I ended up getting some extra sensors that I added at the same time. Besides putting the bell box up, the whole install took less than an hour and it’s been faultless so far.

Easy to install, works well, plenty of control options
Was so easy to install – though not all sensors come with sticky pads as screws are the default option, but I found heavy duty double-sided pads work a treat. I’ve not installed the external siren until it’s had a one month trial run to check there’s no false alarms, but seems to be working well. Having options to arm with the app, keypad, Alexa, Google Assistant (and optional keyfobs) seems overkill, but more choice is better than limited. The internal hub siren seems very loud, but unlike my previous alarm panel, it’s not wall mounted and there’s nothing to stop an intruder quickly pulling out the cables and disabling it. For the money though, it’s a great system.

Golden Review Award: 65 From Our UsersGood value system that seems simple enough to use
We had a Yale wireless auto dialler alarm for about 15 years or so and decided it was time for an upgrade as there were a few limitations with it; you couldn’t always tell if the batteries in the pirs were dead, there was no real remote control options and the auto dial alert was a bit crude.

So after quite a bit of research I went for this kit plus some additional PIRs and door contacts.

    INITIAL SETUP
    —————————

I use Android but I assume the app for the iPhone is similar. Installed it and set up an account (first one set up becomes then ‘Master’ account for your system). You enter the serial number for the control unit and then it runs you through a wizard to set up all the components you’ve got. As everything that comes in the bundles is pre-configured this is really easy – just take the plastic battery tabs out and it detects them.

Adding new devices is also very easy – I’ve added both new door/window contacts and a PIR, both took seconds.

One thing to bear in mind – you need to have the control unit permanently plugged into a spare network port on your router / modem so bear this in mind. I have a google wi-fi mesh system and I plugged it into one of the nodes ports and it worked fine.

    CONFIGURATION
    ——————————–

Everything is done via the app. I have to say the app has had some negative reviews and doesn’t score very well in the app store but I have found it simple to use, easy to navigate (once you get into it) and stable. Perhaps they have worked hard in it since it came out but it’s by no means a terrible app.

I have manged to set up devices for zoning, named them, set the countdown timers, siren timings, LED control and various other behaviours without too much fuss.

    NOTIFICATIONS
    ———————————

APP notifications on your phone work fine and you get a little house icon whever something happens on your notification banner. You can set it so all notifications appear from the app.

SMS messages work great – I did a couple of test and configured it to send to two phones, they arrived pretty much instantaneously when the alarm when off. Understandably (as SMS messaging comes at a cost) you can only set ‘Burglar’ events to come via text message.

EMAIL messages I have had a couple of niggles with, there’ actually two places where you seem to set whether it emails you for ALL notifications or just when a ‘burglar’ event happens. I currently have one of them set to ALL and the other set to burglar and I am getting all events by email – perhaps a bit of a quirk.

GEO fencing notifications – simply put the system uses the location of your phone to work out when you have left the perimeter of the alarm system and if you haven’t set the alarm when you left it asks you if you want to via the app in case you forgot. NB: This requires a data connection as is the case for all APP based notifications .

    OTHER POSITIVES
    ———————————-

Setting up user accounts is easy – all the family have access via their phones now. There is a keypad entry system as well but I expect this will be for emergency only’s when they have a flat battery on their phone.

Checking for false alarms is a doddle (if you have CCTV as well) – Because you get notifications on the app / via SMS / Email etc… you know as soon as the alarm goes off. I have a couple of IP camera’s set up in the house and outside so I can quickly log on and make sure everything is OK, if it looks fine I can reset the alarm via the app. You can use Yale’s own CCTV systems which integrate with the app but these are quite an expensive option.

The control unit is really small – I took a picture of the new control unit Vs the older one I had. Dead easy to hide down the back of a cabinet it you want as you never really need to touch it.

The key fob is quite useful – you can disarm / part arm or fully arm with the keyfob. As a family we don’t need it but we’ve given it to our in laws so that in case they ever need to come round when we’re away they can use it to gain entry without needing us or having complex instructions.

    THE ONE NEGATIVE
    —————————————-

The design of the door/window contacts is truly appalling. They are way bigger that they need to be, the magnet section is huge, the curved design limits how you mount it and add to that the fact you need to think about changing batteries in the future and they have put the screw to take it apart for that purpose in one end so you need to consider how to get a screwdriver to it. All this means you spend quite a bit of time working out how to make them fit your windows unless the opening section is completely flush to the frame (which they often aren’t).

I had to actually take one of the magnet sections of the door contacts apart just to make it fit with by timber frame windows, getting rid of the plastic case that holds the magnets entirely (see picture).

These sensors should be slimmer, shorter and less curved and they would be infinitely easier to fit.

    SUMMARY
    ——————–

It’s early days but so far I’m impressed with the system as a whole (with the exception of the poor design of the door contacts which lost it one star in this review) and non techies should not fear the setup which is simple and intuitive. I would certainly recommend.

NB. I haven’t set up Alexa integration yet but will update review if I do.

Wanted to get an alarm system that would alert mobiles with no annual fee.
This system ticked all the boxes for me. Being able to use the app has been helpful as I can arm and disarm the alarm remotely.
The alarm itself was easy to set up with the manual relatively well laid out, however, the app can be confusing and it is not very intuitive.
Overall, I like the system and over the 2-3months that I have had been using it there have been no issues.

Good home system, easy installation and setup
Wanted a smart entry and motion detection system and after some research this system seemed to be a good all round fit.

Installation – very simple, managed to install and test each device with ease. Also purchased an additional 2 window sensors which were discovered with ease. To install x4 window sensors, smoke detector, x2 PID’s and 2 external boxes,x1 keypad, took 3 hours. This could be quicker, I’m not an expert installer (DIY).

App & Setup – pretty straight forward following in app instructions and manual. I tested and activated each device as I installed so that I could custom tag the items in the device list for reference. I set up the window sensors in full and partial mode and the PIDs just for full arm. Setup custom arm/disarm accounts for house hold members.

Pleased to see the activity log records all events for 30 days.

All in all was quite surprised to see the negative reviews. In my experience the kit was as expected, the app and installation was actually better than I expected. I’ve yet to integrate hue and Alexa, but as of yet, pleased with the purchase and would recommend if you’re looking for a home alarm system with complete control via your smart phone.

Worth noting the range for devices reached all corners of the property with thick walls (built in 1860), didn’t have to consider extenders.

    Easy to install wireless alarm
I bought this and read the reviews and did think about sending it back after reading some bad reviews. I am glad I didnt to be honest, simple to install and set up, if you can use a drill and a screw driver you can have this done quickly, the hardest part I think or most people is the external box fitting, but i am fine with this. I have this installed and completed in just under an hour. No issues with the app, download and follow the instructions as it says and you will have no issues.

Does the job. Reliable and great range. mobile app too.
So without Internet WiFi it’s very difficult to setup. The instructions book is very badly written with lot of things missing.
If you want a simple Alarm system which just works then this is the one. If you want lot of extra things then maybe pay more get those other ones.
I would give 5 star but I can’t do multi zone which is really annoying. I want to leave my garage constantly alarmed and not the house but I can’t do that I have to arm everything or nothing.

I’m very surprised about the range. I have a wireless pir in the garage 50m away through concrete walls etc. And works perfectly. And the mobile app works great it reminds us when we leave the house to arm the alarm.

One thing I noticed is the siren in the wall is not loud, in fact the small internal siren on the alarm box is even louder then the external one. Im. Dissapointed with that too.

Overall I would recommend I paid 197 black Friday. Id buy it again but I hope other better ones with more features come soon without having to pay 400

Easy to set-up, works first time, keyfob design needs improvement.
I bought this to replace a BT Home Monitor setup so that I could go subscription-free, ditch the need for a phone line and gain the ux of a mobile app over a nasty and hard to configure wall panel. I’m hoping to add the Yale door locks to the system later.

    The good:
-Easy to set up. Everything in the kit came pre-paired to the hub so you just need to mount and turn on. Everything I added beyond that was simple to pair via the app.
-It worked first time and is configurable enough to meet my needs.
-After a couple of days, I’m generally very pleased with how it works.

    The bad:
-The buttons on the keyfob – probably the most necessary buttons in the system – are black on black and flat, making them hard to read and easy to press accidentally. It’s too easy to dis/arm the alarm accidentally. The additional lock switch on the side is also hard to read, so knowing its position and status isn’t intuitive. Simple, firm, countersunk buttons with bright white on black print are required. I’ll probably mark the buttons with Tippex, assuming you can still get Tippex, but I’d really like to swap this keyfob for something better, which shouldn’t be necessary at the price.
-The rounded design of the door/window switches and magnet housings means that, particularly when used with the adhesive pads, you have to adhere the one flat side to your window/doorframe surface to ensure a good bond. This renders pointless and ugly the pebble-shape the two pieces are meant to form when married together. It might not be as pretty, but a square design on all sides would keep the design more compact, would be more flexible for positioning and would enable a more secure fit in any orientation.

Some features that should be added via firmware improvements, assuming Yale care and they aren’t things I’ve just missed:
-MAC address should be on the hub label rather than something users have to discover through trial and error via their routers. Also the network name is that of some obscure tech company from further up the chain, rather than a logical branded one such as “Yale Alarm” out of the box. It should also be possible to rename this.
-A static IP address should be assignable, rather than relying only on DHCP.
-A choice of door-open alert chimes, beyond the slightly alarming and piercing default would be of benefit.
-Automatic phone/paired device bluetooth alarm deactivation.
-Why can’t I log in to the web interface? It’s there but not for my eyes, it seems.
-The hub should be supplied and run with a USB PSU – bespoke transformers are hard to replace, inflexible and wasteful.

Compared to the BT VP1000 system and the confusing menus on its control panel, using the app on the Yale is a breeze. Having control over the notifications and setup without having to pay a subscription for last-century phone-call alerts or poking endlessly through an opaque maze of control-panel functions, is what sold me on this system and I’m pleased with what I got.

Alongside the door locks they already make, Yale need to make a CCTV doorbell (a la Ring) that can be integrated for remote answering and tied to the Yale door locks and alarm for remote opening/activation. It’d ideally be drivable via PoE, be IP address assignable and be ONVIF compatible so that users could tie the camera in to an existing surveillance system as well as to the Yale system. That’d complete the setup.

I’ve dropped a star here because the keyfob design is troublesome, the window/door switches/magnets should be squarer and because of the hub’s lack of user-configurable IP address.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAn alarm system that actually works and saves you money.
This is a great alarm and it is easy to install yourself (the worst bit is going up the ladder to attach the external siren to the front of your house) and it definitely works, I’ve had this for 6 months and I routinely test mine by walking into my home with the alarm enabled to see if the PIR / door sensors detect me – they always do. The app is easy to use, it is occasionally a little laggy, but nothing too serious.

I’ve read some reviews about the people not being able to disable the beeping on the external siren during arming or disarming – however, this is entirely possible to do, but it’s hidden deep in the settings. Go into the app and select Settings > Alarm Settings > System Settings > Siren Settings. You can then toggle “entry/exit confirm” and “entry/exit delay countdown” – if you switch both off then the siren does not make an audible alert whatsoever. I have the countdown off and the entry/exit confirm switched on – that way I get a single beep from the external siren that notifies me the alarm is on/off. It is worth noting that the internal control box still beeps you down – but, this is reassuring and doesn’t disturb your neighbours.

The only negative to this alarm is if the internet is cut off. Yes, the alarm, if enabled, will be active and the siren will sound if there is an intruder. However, if you’re away from home and the internet is cut off, you will have no idea if there has been a break in. The app does not tell you that you lost the internet connection and therefore cannot tell you if you’re home is being burgled… The addition of a SIM card would solve this – that’s how other alarm companies such as ADT and Verisure get around this problem. Although you could get a battery operated mobile broadband dongle – that’s 100+ plus the cost of the monthly data plan.

Talking of alarm companies – this unit is pretty good value for money compared to traditional monitored alarm systems. I received a quote (Oct-2019) from Verisure – for normal family home it was 400 installation plus a monthly charge of 32. However, if you want sleep well at night knowing that you will be woken if there is an intruder the Yale works perfectly fine!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersEasy Install Poor Instructions
So I installed 5 PIR’s, 4 contacts, siren and keypad. So far so good although instructions lacked clarity and chronology so had to work by trial and error. Note stuff in the box is already paired. Also if you have doors or windows that are proud of the frame like me you will have to make some sort of a filling wedge to allow the contacts to work (see attached).

Integration with Phillips Hue. You will probably get an error saying action failed error 500 when you first set this up. There is nothing on web that helps with this and the Yale website email contact doesn’t actually open an address so you cant email them. Thankfully as always Amazon came to rescue and eventually patched me through to Yale. It turns out you can’t have any special characters such as numbers or apostrophes in your hue light names. Once I removed these it works fine. This is important info and should be somewhere in the Yale instructions or troubleshooting FAQ on website. Hope this helps until they sort that out. 1 star dropped because of poor info and instructions from Yale.

    Easy and good alarm.
Perfect alarm, easy to install by yourself, I have it for over 7 months and no problem, the app got an update and it’s easy to arm and disarm even when you are far away.

Fantastic product, i love my smart home gadgets and this completed the set (so far lol) being able to tell Alexa we’re off to bed and she sets everything up is brilliant and now it even alarms my house! what more could a tech gadget lover want!

    Nice home alarm
We’ve had our alarm in for a couple of months now and pretty happy with everything so far. Much easier and less expensive than getting a dedicated company to install. And no monthly fees to worry about. Some reviews complained about the pet sensors, but so far our pet senor has been fine and has not been tripped by our two cats once.

Who says you can’t buy peace of mind
Peace of mind. From the bright yellow alarm box to the stickers for your window. So pleased with this purchase. Everything is either battery powered or has battery backup. The hub also has quite a loud siren. Hubs going to beep every 30 seconds for about 30 minutes once you’ve turned the battery on the hub on. It will stop once it’s enough charge in it so don’t panic. Great buy.

Works great, probably saved me 1000s
Was looking for a great alarm system for a while and took the plunge with this one
Ripped out my old alarm, installed this one with the help of my father within a day
Around a month later I had an attempted burglary, the individual left without anything within seconds of the alarm sounding

    Great product, easy install.
Great product installed and working within 30 mins.

Long range on all sensors and just enough in the pack to get started.

One issue is I can’t find the Alexa skill in the skill store.

great product but less so the documentatio
In the last 30 years I have had a wired Yale alarm followed by a wireless alarm. But after a fair few years now I decided that as part of my ‘smart home’ conversion I would go for the new Smart home alarm from Yale. I would say the quality of the kit is up to the usual Yale standard. Installation is easy using the App.

The only real niggle is that the documentation that come with the kit is really not that comprehensive. Certainly not as clear as my previous alarms. Mostly it is OK, but for instance, the key fob documentation tells you to pull out the plastic tab to activate. Nowhere does it tell you about the tiny ‘lock’ switch on the side. It is small so took a while to work out why the key fob wouldn’t work. I even purchased a new battery as I thought that might be faulty. Oh well, I have a spare now.

Another example is how to activate and deactivate the alarm with the keypad. Nowhere in the manual does it tell you how to do this. I worked it out by trial and error. If you are interested, to arm you simply press the ‘lock’ icon followed by the PIN. I was used to entering the code and then pressing ‘OK’ on my old alarm. I see on youtube it says to simply push the lock button which doesn’t work. To disarm you press the ‘unlock’ icon and enter the PIN code. On my old alarm it was the other way around. Looking around on the ‘net things were not as clear as they should.

On testing I did have a funny with the siren tamper. I deliberately tripped the alarm and it went off fine. Then I noticed that I had a ‘siren tamper’ warning – this was definitely not the case. This also triggered a beep every 30 seconds on the hub which I could only clear by a reboot. As the siren is high up on the house I just set the tamper to off in the App. Otherwise I think this is a great bit of kit.

    Easy
I cannot believe how easy this was to install. The only issue I had was refitting the front of the Siren while balancing on the ladder! Everything worked first time. You just need to follow the pictorial instructions. Install the APP and set up account first and that wll lead you through the setup procedure. So now it is working fine. If I find any issues in the future I will update this review.

    Great alam system
Neat alarm system, really easy to setup, some nice features from a trusted name. Love the mobile integration and rarely even use the keyfob to set the alarm. Integrated with Philips Hue, which offers a good additional visual deterrent when all your lights flash red! Linked up an Echo, but don’t really use that feature as the mobile app is easy enough to set/unset. Would have liked some additional integration features into things like IFTTT and Blink, but sadly these are not available at the time of writing.

    A very good wireless alarm
I am no expert at setting up electronic equipment but this Yale alarm was easy. All the supplied sensors are pre set to the supplied alarm and additional sensors are easy to sync to the system. The instructions are clear and there are videos available to help. I found using the alarm via the app easy and with a bit of small changes you can get the system to do what you want.
    Excellent system

Reliable, well made, very loud sire
This home security system is extremely good, although I almost scared myself and my 4 year old half to death when I was trying to pair the siren up to the base station and set the siren off! It’s mega loud!

The build quality is excellent and everything has a solid, made-to-last feel.

The various components all pair very easily to the base station, which we have in our lounge next to the router. Coverage seems very good around our 4-bedroom property and none of the components have dropped out of range at all.

We added an extra keypad and extra door/window sensors to our system as well as the starter items included in the box, and that has given us pretty much total coverage for our property. You can add as many extra components as you need.

    5 stars.

Really easy setup and remote management.
About as easy as an alarm can be. My only gripes are that the double sided sticky pads don’t stay attached for long, and that there is no SMS alert built in, but this can be set up via GMail. Otherwise excellent!

No qualms from me. Not sure what all these negative reviews seem to be about. Personally I think it’s a pretty good product. Easy to install, register and get it working.

Ignore the people who can’t read instructions and don’t like emails, it’s all very straight forward.

Does what it says on the ti
Instructions could be clearer. Despite being in box the keypad still needed initialising.

Instructions are pictorial and the booklet is crammed with pictures and way that busy.

Contacting customer service I gave up on hold turned out some the batteries needed replacing on delivery.

Despite teething issues alarm appears to work okay and was easy to install. App could be improved.

Compared to other systems this is still up there with easy of install and use.

    Good price and easy installatio
Great price as it was prime day sale. Easy to install and user friendly app. My wife doesn’t like it too complicated so her approval is good.
With a ‘sync’ module this will connect to the Yale Conexis door lock which I got too. And the app shows if the door is open or closed. Locked or unlocked. Also you can remotely unlock the door with this.
Biggest thing is we were constantly forgetting to set our alarm. The app reminds us when we leave if it’s off.

It was really easy to install and has worked fine so far. I have tested it remotely from home and the email/app notifications come through instantly after the alarm goes off and I can disarm it instantly from my phone too.

    Great looking modern smart alarm
Our professionally fitted alarm decided to wake us up at 5am with a fault. Called the provider and they would not help so I ripped it off the wall and installed this. The fact you can arm the system when you are out of the house is amazing and it just works. Havent really used the Alexa integration because I dont think I would ever alarm the alarm while in the house.

Very pleased with this – took about an hour to install my 8 sensors and the keypad. The siren took about 15 minutes and is a great visiual deterrent. App is ok and internal sounder very loud. Remote arm and disarm is useful when you have your hands full. Well worth the money

Some small issues but overall worth it for the smart features
If I wrote this review just after installing it would be a bit lower. I ended up getting our electrician in to help with this install as he had to remove our old wired system anyway. It was a bit hectic getting all the sensors connected and figuring out which was which and naming them.

After install my control panel kept reporting tamper over and over (spamming my email!) I had no idea what to do so called support, but then found out it was a premium number!! This was extremely annoying as I just wanted a quick bit of advice. So I hung up since I was sure I could figure it out eventually. It turned out the panel wasn’t secured into the wall securely enough and the sensor wasn’t happy about that at all. This was actually quite impressive as I didn’t know the tamper sensors would work so well.

Once the system was installed though, my experience has been much better and I really appreciate the remote setting feature, it’s given us a lot more confidence leaving the house and knowing we will get an email and texts if the alarm goes off is a huge improvement to our old system.

The app has been updated since I started using it and the new version is much better and more intuitive for setting the alarm.

I ended up buying more sensors (two extra motion and two extra door sensors) which were easy to add and work great. I’ve yet to have to change batteries, my understanding is this won’t be for a while so fingers crossed it isn’t!
