Instructions aren’t fully clear but doesn’t take too long to set up. Key cover it rubbish but other than that a solid product. Could do with a shelf inside. Brilliant price for what it is.

Sturdy and secure
Liked the streamlined shape and the excellent finish of this item. This was a gift for my grandson to take to University to keep his personal belongings secure. It is performing exactly as expected and is perfect for the purpose it was bought for.

This is an excellent home safe at this price point: very sturdy, a good size and so simple to use. Setting your own key- code is very easy and the added option of back-up keys adds further peace of mind. Very pleased!

Very easy to use
Very easy to use , Comes with big bolts that fit in the back if you want to drill it into a wall or something. Decent amount of space , and keypad is very easy to setup comes with instructions which are easy to understand.
Good and secure but rubbish instructions
Instructions are rubbish! You tube showed me the “handle wiggle” needed after closing the door. Once learned, works a dream with flexibility to use 4 to 8 numbers as your pass code. Needs better wall plugs and screws to fix to wall or floor, but again, once done, good and secure. Gives me good piece of mind, but come on Yale, better instructions needed.
This review is written bearing in mind the rather modest cost. This is the sort of safe suitable for home use and would be useful against an opportunist thief.
I doubt it would stand up to a sustained attack from a determined thief who had time and tools.
I was a little disappointed to see no predrilled holes in the floor. Meaning you can only bolt this to the wall. I’d rather do both just to be sure. I’m sure it wouldn’t have added much to the manufacturing cost. I’ve deducted 1 star for that. I just think there’s no reason to scrimp on this bit.
I managed to set up the PIN code without looking at the instructions. So that’s a good thing. The safe uses 4xAA batteries. There are some included but I’ve chosen to put in better alkaline AA’s instead.
The handle is plastic and doesn’t feel sturdy. I suspect the plastic handle would snap before the lock. Meaning if it were attacked, that’s the first bit I’d expect to be broken.
Overall for 40 I can’t grumble at all. It’ll be fine for our use.

Very good unit for a small safe – easy to install in a small space, and stores all my papers etc securely. Never going to be as secure as a built-in safe, but sited in the right place, you’d have a job to get it off the wall without a long crowbar, and before my Dobermanns wake up! I’d rate this highly for a home for low to medium value items and documents.

The safe arrived on a next day delivery as expected and well packed in an amazon box. however, when opened the safe had signs of use. The label hidden with the serial number for the safe had been tempered with and was torn. The box that holds the batteries behind the door was slightly unscrewed/signs of tempering. The door has a lot of play when both closed and open. It comes with 2 keys, bolts to secure it to either the floor or wall behind the safe and x4 AA batteries (always use your own). Pictorial Instructions are provided which are easy to follow and gets you set up within seconds. The laptop safe is big enough to hold a 13inch laptop with plenty of space for a camera and maybe a few lenses.
Over all, this is a Safe from yale that will hold your valuables and make it hard for the opportunities thieves, but the more determined ones with electric tools and time on there hands will eventually break though. therefore, other security measures must be in place to accompany this safe, such as an intruder alarm, secure locks etc.
For the price, I am happy with the safe as its better than having nothing.

Ideal for home
I’ve been searching for a while for something like this. For me this product fits perfectly in my desired storage space, very durable and strong product. Space inside is quite generous for the size of the safe, has a shelve too for dividing the safe into two parts. It comes with mounting screw fittings. Overall very satisfies and a very good product for the home.

Easy to set up with easy instructions, 4 x AA batteries included plus mounting screws. Looks smart and sturdy (would need mounting as lightweight and easily carried away).
Able to programme and 9 digit code and comes with 2 fail safe keys. Bleep is a bit loud, would be advantageous if it allowed you to lower volume or turn it off completely.

Good little safe after finally managing to unlock the door after spending ages with the USELESS INSTRUCTIONS I ended up going onto You Tube just befor I gave up and returned the safe for a refund.I found out that to set your PIN this has to be done IMMEDIATELY after pressing the RESET BUTTON while the GREEN LED IS LIT. There is nothing in the instructions about this and I only found out on the web before I returned the safe.

Easy to fit, and is perfect as a deterrent. Easy to use too.
The only negative is that the keys have a plastic YALE cover on them, which makes them too large to hide and very obvious what they’re for. I’ll probably try to take them off. No big deal.

Bit of extra security in the home
Not very heavy so needs fastening down to something that won’t move otherwise easy to pick up and steal bought because it’s a well know good branded name one to trust.

Have been using it for a while now and can say it’s been great! Easy to set up and operate. The size is not suitable for storing documents of A4 size though. Otherwise it’s perfect.

Delivery was 7 p.m. at night. Delivery was advised as being firstly Wed / Thursday then they changed it to Tuesday so cancelled appointment i had, then got message being delivered on Monday. Delivery company just dumped on door step at about 7 p.m. As others say no middle shelf as shown in photographs. But otherwise as expected. BUT the useless screw and raw plugs provided would not be a challenge to anyone wanting to remove from a wall.. Had to get expanding wall bolts as I have on my other safe. real bad these screws. Given the reviews Amazon needs to sort this Yale safe out..

The Yale Locks safe is ideal for my use however the bolts supplied were poor quality steel. I obtained better quality bolts from a well known hardware store. Good idea to bolt both through the back wall and the floor. Socket set required to access the bolts within the small compartment. Apply PVA adhesive to bolt hole/wall plug for firmer hold.

My previous safe failed with the keypad and there was no alternative than to have it drilled open.This was expensive.
I made sure that the new safe has a key option in addition to a keypad. So if the electronics fail there is an alternative .
Just remember where you hide the key in case it is needed.

This safe is brilliant it was really easy to install and is a very heavy duty safe. It looks really good and is a great size for the average household or small business if you were to try and break it open it would hold up for some time but just remember it’s not indestructible

Safe is okay after you work out how to get it shut and opened again. The leaflet supplied is not much use. Id asked for the safe to be sent wrapped when I ordered it as it stated it arrived in the original box showing what was inside. It arrived UNWRAPPED even though Id ticked the “wrapped please” while ordering. BLAZONED on the 4 sides of the box were HUGE photos of the safe inside…….. everyone that saw of handled my package knew exactly what was inside the box….. not amused.

like the code lock easy to set up. put battery’s in press red button enter any code you want and lock it then unlock using new code its not gonna be fireproof/waterproof it is really jus a small stash i can fit loads in this one with my tech being the main thing it fits my macbook pro, ipad couple tablets old phone important paperwork spare keys for other things. overall quite happy with this safe 🙂

Nice little safe. Setup is easy using YouTube video. The page of diagrams provided with the safe are very basic and not particularly helpful, hence 4 stars. Having an override key is useful.
Mostly ok might seem a bit harsh, but you have to keep in mind what its for and how much it cost. Its not a rip-off to purchase, but neither is it likely to deter anything other than a chance thief. An experienced scum-bag will get into this with a crow bar, angle grinder and a little time, but what do you expect for less than 50.00 sterling. If you want something more substantial that will take longer for an experienced crook to open you’ll need to spend 10x the cost of this box.

Seems reasonable quality for the price paid, although not as sturdy as the safe I had previously (a different make). Easy to install and set up, good that it uses AA batteries (included) and locking mechanism seems secure.

Like a hotel safe, easy to work. Will fit an iPad, don’t know if it would outwit the Hatton Garden mob but for the money it’s added security and better than leaving the family jewels in a biscuit tin under the bed.

Firstly – the safe itself.
“Does what it says on the tin”. Well made, sturdy but small enough to hide away – so it doesn’t look like a safe.
We bought some fireproof wallets to put any cash in – because, fireproof this isn’t. To be fair, it doesn’t advertise as fireproof.

I was wondering if these come with a big “Valuables Inside” board you can stick outside your house (or maybe “Criminals Welcome”).
Why oh why does this have to arrive in a bloody great box emblazoned with “Yale Home Safe” all over it? If, like us, you live on a warden controlled estate, everything arrives at the main office – meaning everyone who went in the office this morning now knows we’ve got something worth stealing!! Already I’ve been asked “what do you need a safe for then”?
I’d much rather have kept that detail quiet from all those who now know we keep valuables at home.
To me it is just plain daft – and it costs them money to print!!!
I would have thought in this “risk averse” society they could have just printed a model number on a plain box instead of everything but the instructions!!

Great value for your valuables
Great price for securing your smaller valuables. One little suggestion would be to use better fixings than those that come with the safe especially in a brick/concrete wall, as the head snapped off the ones provided whilst trying to install into brick.
Suitable for low cost items for security
The most difficult was setting the Passcode, as instructions are not clear. Remember to press the little button on the side of the safe near the battery before you can set the code. The safe is lightweight and compact, so depending on what you want to store, yo may need a larger safe. Go for the Fire Safety rated versions for any safe.
Quality/Price
Excellent value, and very secure. Instructions, 1 fold out page, are extremely poor. I had to use the Amazon forum to reach out to other buyers to be able to set everything up.
Note, it will not contain an A4 page, one would have to buy the next bigger size, but, otherwise, I am well pleased.

OK for small items
I suggest if you want this to hold a lot you got for the bigger size. This is a good item but very small and I gave it to my aunt and bought a larger size for my own home.
A nice looking safe.
This does exactly what you would expect and comes with the parts to screw it in to your wall. We use this as a medical safe (to keep tablets in there) and have an 8 digit code on the lock. The kids have no real chance of bypassing this and even if it decides that the code-pad has had enough, you have two keys which can open it anyway. The physical lock is hidden and so even that isn’t obvious to those who needn’t be in the know.
This product arrived a day after ordering which I was extremely pleased with! The safe isn’t too heavy so is perfect to keep on your desk. It’s simple to set up and works great!

Nice and secure – but only if you are convinced by its looks. The locking mechanism could’ve been made a lot stronger as the only thing keeping it locked is a tiny bit of magnetic metal.
That being said, to reset the password you have to already have the safe unlocked and remove the battery cover – so no more bypassing the lock by pushing the button via the back holes!
I think this is secure enough for a home environment, but the security could be made a lot better that what it currently is.
Strong safe, perfectly mounts on the wall with the screws and plugs provided, simple to set your code. Amazed at the bad reviews from people saying it’s hard to setup, you would have to be a complete idiot if you cannot setup the simple steps. Slot the batteries in, press the red button, and enter your desired code, how hard is that? Duuhhh!!

Decent safe
This is a quite decent home safe and good value for money too. I’ve installed it using the provided bolts and it’s solid. Had it a couple of months now and so far it is holding up well with frequent use. The keypad is easy to use if you mount it in an awkward place thanks to fairly large keys.

Really good safe. There are people saying that if you hit them or slap them that you can open them but I bolted them on the wall using the screws provided and I can say that its super steady and looks strong enough for the job.

We needed a safe for keeping our car keys in following a spate of electronic cloning thefts from neighbours cars whilst they were in the house! It is also useful for keeping the ‘Crown Jewels’ in of course! Unlike other reviewers we did not find that the keys were locked inside the safe on delivery and fitment was easy with the plugs and coach screws provided. The quality of construction is what you expect for this level of cost and is pertinent for our uses. Yale make better grades at higher costs for people that have things of high value to store.
We tested the Faraday Cage effect for the electronics and given its location works fine for us.

For the price I cannot complain. Very simple to set up and install. Batteries and two wall bolts and plugs included. Thin piece of matting provided for the base of the safe. Ideal for home safe if hidden.
This safe is very heavy, which is a good thing. It comes with screws in case you want to wall mount it. It can be opened with a combination of numbers and with keys. It is quite spacious inside and I think it is a very good product. Please remember to never leave the safe keys inside it as those are useful in case you forget the combination or the batteries run out. I’ve had it for 6 months and so far I’m extremely pleased with it!
Really like the product, but the reason for 1 star less is it makes loud beeping noise when you press the numbers, no need for everyone to hear that I’m opening up a safe

Personally i love this safe, despite the other negative reviews, it’s actually very easy to set up, if you’re unsure just ask somebody else a bit more mechanically minded.
As for the design it’s very sturdy and simplistic to use, the small size is enough space for money and some other valuables, perfectly fine for me.
