Instant revival of kitchen knife
My old chef knife was getting dull and dangerous saw this sharpener at a reasonable price, arrive next day I know have a really sharp blade, cut through a tomato with no pressure.nice product small fits in drawer suction base is scary good thought I couldn’t get it off the work top for a moment . My knives are deadly after being sharpened with this, be careful as you can easily cut your finger once you use your freshly sharpened knives! But so worth it as it makes chopping a breeze. I sharpened every single knife I have with ease, and all were razor sharp immediately and haven’t had to re-sharpen yet. Amazing little thing and so cheap for what it does – got it for the all the family too!

This managed to sharpened my blunt knife although I had to apply some pressure to sharpened it. Initially I had followed the instructions and only passed the blade through lightly and felt disappointed when there was not difference. I am glad I did apply a reasonable pressure on the blade through the sharpening groove and was delighted with the results although there was some shedding of the metal. This knife that had been unused for the past 10 years because of bluntness, could now cut raw meat with no problem. Because its compact, I can put it away with the rest of the utensils. Well pleased with this product.

Fast and effective.
Brought up a knife to razor sharp very quickly, but be aware that this takes a LOT of material off the blade. One way or another, it’s going to get your knife sharp, but if it has to totally re-shape the blade to do it then it will.
Suction cup feature clamps it onto any flat surface. Smaller than you think but that’s no bad thing as you can throw it in any bag.

I was looking at either buying new sharp knifes or a knife sharpener and I am glad I brought this as it has massively improved the sharpness of my knifes which were previously dull. I find that the suction cup doesn’t always stick to the surface but that might just be my surface. So build quality seems alright and the price is pretty good.
Overall, I highly recommend this if you are looking to turn dull cheap knifes into something more.

After years of using a butchers steel my family forced me to buy something smaller, that didnt involve me waving a knife around the place and means my worn steel can be thrown away.

This item is great, and does exactly what it says it’s going to do. It’s easy to use, and will sharpen almost any dull blade in less than a minute! You have to ensure that you place it on a dry, smooth surface and engage the suction lock securely. This can be a little difficult to do, but that only means you’re getting a perfect seal. If you don’t get a good seal, the sharpener may move whilst you’re sharpening a blade, which is clearly not safe. It does generate some metal shards after sharpening so be careful when cleaning up afterwards that you clean all the shards away. I’ve sharpened at least 15-20 knives (both mine and my parents), and each time I visit them they always ask me to bring it! There are a few knives that can’t be sharpened by this item, so check the instructions before you sharpen any blade. Overall great value for money and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to sharpen knives with next to fuss!
3-2-1 Sharp! Not to great at sucking though!
First off let me say that this has totally renewed my knives. It’s sharpening ability is unlike any other kitchen sharpener I have used. It’s fantastic!
The only issue is the suction – it needs to be auctioned a few times before it will stay for the time you need to sharpen. It’s lever to pull down to suction is easy and simple to use however depending on the work surface it can be a bit of a nuisance.
However it’s a great tool to have in any kitchen and I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

I have attached this to a wall tile, the suction is extremely good. You simply draw a knife through the slot – I have positioned it so that the slot is horizontal, but you set it vertically or at any angle that suits you. I believe as you draw the blade through the sharpening slot it shaves a miniscule amount off the blade, giving you a new sharp finish. It seems to do the job well and I would recommend it to others.

Works well on all the knives I have tried to far. A variety of cheap kitchen knives in varying degrees of bluntness, now they all slice tomatoes pretty well. They’re not razors but they’re pretty good. Suction is sadly not good on our sideboard, which is some kind of boggo texture over chipboard. First time I used it it held well, but never since. Fairly easy to hold with the other hand so it’s still worth keeping.

This is a great piece of kit for the price.
It has given all of my knives a new life. Really strong suction to the worktop and really straight forward to use.
It’s pretty aggressive at sharpening and you can see little metal flakes coming off as you use it.
Be sure to give your knives a good clean after using it and you will get many more years out of sharp knives using this simple effective piece of kit. Wow – I sound like a JML advert!

I was thinking of new knives but decided to try this first. Three or four good drags across the device definitely sharpened my knives, including the serated ones (though I’m not sure if it works on ALL serated knives?). I only have big standard kitchen knives so can’t speak to professional knives, but I’m happily chopping tomatoes and slicing bread again!

…not quite as sharp as you see in the advert with the twirly-moustached chef/inventor guy, slicing tomatoes with a trowel, but sharp enough that you can chop anything with ease.
Before this, I used a whet stone and got my knives super sharp and they lasted that way for a long time.
I don’t know if it’s because I CAN use the AnySharp more that I do use it more (using whet stones makes me feel like Rambo for about 10 seconds before I realise I’m just a pedantic surbanite hipster and using a whet stone is boring as hell), or if this takes off a lot of material and therefore the knife blunts quicker, but I do use this more than I did the whet stone.
Ultimately though, who cares? I don’t have a 100 knife that demand I sharpen it carefully like a samurai sword. My knives are relatively cheap (probably 50 for the most expensive one) and this is so quick and easy to use, I don’t care if I have to use it more. The suction pad on the AnySharp holds onto the counter well and gets the knives sharp in just a few seconds and I imagine it will be decades before my knives run out of material to sharpen!
Bottom line
Makes cooking easier. Recommended. I bought one for all my family members.
I’m probably like a lot of people who were lead to believe their whole life that the honing steel in the kitchen drawer is actually a sharpener! Unfortunately all that does is straighten the sharp edge (if used correctly).
I’d accumulated around 20 sharp kitchen knives which all eventually became so blunt that I may as well cut a tomato by whacking it with a hammer. These knives all slowly got relegated to the back of a drawer until I eventually I had one usable knife left and decided something needed to be done.
This device works well. Suctions onto a work surface easily and holds very strong. It is designed with angled stones so that you simply drag the knive backwards at 0 degrees, no angle required.
I now have an almost full set of sharp knives again. I found with my blunt knives that they needed a few more goes on the sharpener. After a quick honing they were all able to pass the “tomato test” with flying colours.
The only cons – the noise while you sharpen (metal being scraped on a stone) is unpleasant, like nails on a chalkboard. I can handle it may make some people shudder. Also I have a couple of knives that just refuse to sharpen after many goes on the device. Maybe they are too far gone and require a full whetstone treatment. Either way they are too cheap to bother. Just be aware it may not bring every knife back to life.

We have a knife block and use them regularly for chopping veg etc so we absolutely needed this product for sharpening our knives every now and then. It just works well and is nice and compact so it can live in a drawer away.

Excellent for the price
I’ve had several knife sharpeners in the past that have never really worked well. They have mostly been cheap, so I was a little concerned that this was also going to be ineffective. I was wrong. This one actually does the job it says it will do. Really easy to use and easy to secure to a work surface.
A few gentle strokes, drawing the blade back toward you is enough to transform an old blunt blade. Make sure you wipe the blade after, as it does leave metal shards/filings. I sharpened pretty much all of my knives within about 10 minutes, from pairing knives through to my big Chinese style meat chopper. Great results. I’ve not tried any gently serrated knives as I don’t own any, so I can’t comment on those.
No idea as to the longevity of this product, but given the price, I’d be happy to buy a new one very year to keep my knives super sharp!
A great knife sharpene
I’m happy with this knife sharpener and love that it has a suction option so it sticks to surfaces making it unnecessary to hold. I find it works best on our marble cutting block and not quite as well on a laminate top. Our dull knives have been renewed, but be careful… it does make them very sharp depending on how long you run them through the sharpener.
I have a large selection of Global knives which have never been back to their factory sharp edges since I got them. I did have a similar device with identical double sharpening steels angled at 20 degrees in a plastic base, designed to be screwed to worktops, so I fitted it inside a kitchen cupboard next to my knife rack.
Unfortunately, although it was a cracking device to put an edge on my knives, unbeknownst to me it was the wrong angle for high end Japanese Global knives. These are supplied from the factory with a 17 degree edge so my efforts giving them a 20 degree edge messed them up. To add to the mess, I also bought a MinoSharp device from John Lewis which is custom made for Global knives. SO in essence I was giving them two different edges!
However, it is a handy device for British Sheffield Steel knives, German or French, which are set with a 20 degree angle, so I bought one for my other knives in my collection. It works just the same as the USA made device I had, which I binned after rotating the blades four different ways to use them to the end of their life.
Please don’t press down as it will remove quite a bit of metal from your knife and you will be left with loads of swarf. Make sure you wash the knife before use after sharpening as it will have small bits of metal filings on it.
The suction cup is very powerful and sturdy. Looking through the reviews, Amazon seem to have been selling a cheap Chinese imitation and the reviews of this cheap rubbish are intermingled with the genuine Anysharp (which although designed in Britain is probably made there anyway.)
I have now gone down the Rabbit Hole of high end knife sharpening and have purchased a Japanese Whetstone set with a bamboo sharpening block holder and three different grade waterstones. These do require me to keep the knives at a 17 degree angle and although there is a guide included, it wears out when being attached to the knife. So I am still searching for the perfect sharpener for my Global knives.
However, if you have some blunt or less than great European made knives, go for this handy device as it is small, cheap and quick, giving you a sharp knife in less than a minute!

I do not think I could have been more surprised.
Firstly I expected a very large sharpener -this is so small but it packs a real force.
Once opened and then, by use of the suction, made stable on the worktop, I sharpened three steel knives, each with 4 strokes (very light strokes I would add, through the v-shaped sharpener. The result, knives that cut better than even when they were brand new.

Good Piece Of Ki
This is a small item, but is incredibly good at its job. The suction cup holds it in place really well, subject to the surface being used (same for all suction cups really). The sharpener itself is really effective. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. Place the knife on the sharpener and pull back. Do it twice, job done. I was dubious the first time I used it. I intentionally selected one of our older knives that was past its best. Two passes and the knife is sharp again! It does sound like you are stripping the knife as it goes over the sharpeners and I suppose you are removing some of the bladed in order to sharpen it, hence only passing it over twice. Overall I am very impressed at the quality of the unit and the results it produces. Highly recommended

I think this a great tool, it restores blades in seconds. However it showers your work surface with splinters of steel. So, I don’t recommend sharpening on your counter tops unless you have a magnet to hand to pick it the splinters. I guess this is so for all knife sharpening, but worth remembering.

Is smaller and more compact that the images suggest so it takes up little storage when not in use, and you can really see the shards of the knife as it defines the blade. Just a shame it makes that grinding noise as you use it (it just goes right through me, but that’s just me).

Be aware that there are quite a lot of tiny sharp pieces of metal swarf that come off the blade you are sharpening so be careful they don’t get into your fingers. Really impressed and smaller than it looks
The 1000’s of positive reviews are not lying this really is a great knife sharpener and it’s really impressed me.
It really was as simple to use as using the suction cap to attached to my (glass) table and then slowly dragging the knife blades from beginning to end through the cutting teeth towards you. I managed to sharpen all my knifes in a couple of minutes and it was really surprising just how blunt some of them had become!
A tiny bit of swarf/metal filings came off a few knives so be sure you catch and clean that up properly because you could get metal splinters in your skin which are really painful.
The device is much smaller than I thought it would be. For some bizarre reason I thought it was going to be the size of a Kettle Bell but actually it’s a bit smaller than a tennis ball and easy to store in a drawer or cupboard.

So great, yet so small
I have been looking at this item for a while and thought that it would be much bigger for some reason, it was bought for me as a Christmas gift.
It really is a great little tool to have in the cupboard and has refreshed but stainless steel knives & so easy to use. Simply lock the suction arm down and pass the blade through a couple of times using light pressure.
We do a lot of self-catering holidays throughout the year and nothing is more annoying than a blunt knife when staying away. This is so small it can now come away with us, a simple life changer.
Such a simple yet effective little useful tool every kitchen cupboard should have.

This is a small sharpener, but is absolutely fantastic. It is so easy to use and sharpens knives brilliantly. I have tried various manual sharpeners but could never get the angle right, so the knives ended up more blunt and I ended up taking them to my local butcher to sharpen, however you can’t always be pestering them to keep sharpening your knives. So great, yet so small
I have been looking at this item for a while and thought that it would be much bigger for some reason, it was bought for me as a Christmas gift.
It really is a great little tool to have in the cupboard and has refreshed but stainless steel knives & so easy to use. Simply lock the suction arm down and pass the blade through a couple of times using light pressure.
We do a lot of self-catering holidays throughout the year and nothing is more annoying than a blunt knife when staying away. This is so small it can now come away with us, a simple life changer.
Such a simple yet effective little useful tool every kitchen cupboard should have.

This is a small sharpener, but is absolutely fantastic. It is so easy to use and sharpens knives brilliantly. I have tried various manual sharpeners but could never get the angle right, so the knives ended up more blunt and I ended up taking them to my local butcher to sharpen, however you can’t always be pestering them to keep sharpening your knives. I got this as I treat my knives really badly, and hoped this would encourage me to sharpen them more often. It does, as it sits by the dishwasher, so clean knives come out, get a quick swipe, get rinsed and dried, then get put away. However, the suction at the bottom does not stay ‘sucked’ onto any surface I try. I’ve tried metal (top of the microwave) and MDF (counter top). Still, the black and silver design is inoffensive enough that it can sit out and not look irritating or really obvious.

Makes sharpening a breeze
This little sharpener is great for sharpening knives. It’s usually such a chore to sharpen the kitchen knives but this little tool makes it so easy and quick to keep your knives sharp. The suction on it is excellent and it is indeed very effective (although I have found that knives need to be taken through it a lot more times than stated in the description and video). Especially if your knives are a little blunt, you might need to repeat the process a few times but nothing too difficult or lengthy. And once you get on a routine, which this thing makes it easy to do, it’s quick to keep them sharp.
You can see visibly see the little specs of metal coming off during the sharpening process. I found myself thinking a few times, hmm this knife hasn’t been sharpened enough, only to cut myself seconds later while gently cleaning it. So..it does what it says on the tin. Be careful with the knives afterwards!
Better than some others I've tried.
I had very blunt knives so it took 30 minutes per knife to bring them back. Now I just give 20 seconds of light sharpening to get them in top condition.
Suction cup works on a smooth shiny surface but not on my oak worktop. I have to hold it in place which is fine for gentle sharpening. If you need to sharpen a very blunt knife you have to get a good shiny surface to keep the thing in place.
I am very happy for the money. The only thing that would be better is a wet stone but they are dirty and not nice to have in the kitchen.

This product is an excellent addition to my kitchen. I like to keep my knives sharp and after viewing the video about this sharpener on the Amazon site I was impressed enough to buy. The suction pad works and fixes firmly to my kitchen worktop and with only a few light swipes it has sharpened several knives very quickly. A really good product that does exactly as described on Amazon.

I have been using a knife sharpening steel for years with varied results but I wanted something that was quick and easy so thought this might do the job.
Amazed how good it is, sit the sharpener on a solid surface and pull the arm over so that the suction cup engages and it stays firmly to the surface.
You then lay the knife between the to sharpening blades and pull towards you, it takes a few goes when first using a new knife to get it sharp but I would say after it has shaped the knife slightly it take very little effort to stay sharp.
Just a couple of strokes needed to keep a knife razor sharp after initial use, it’s a real joy to use, very impressed with this little sharpening gadge

Perfect. No complaints really. The only thing that might be better is if it was designed for use with larger knives. But it’s designed for more moderate sizes so it’s not a complaint, just a thought at most. I use this whenever the blades are feeling a little dull & when it comes to cutting veg, the effect is immediately noticeable. It’s spot on. The suction is powerful & the whole thing feels very safe to use. A few drags of the blade, I normally feel between half a dozen & a dozen is more than adequate.

At first, opening the package, I was somehow disappointed by the size of it, for some obscure reason expecting something chunkier and bigger just because the photos seemed to have given me that impression. Once out of the box I tried the suction mechanism, which feels solid, on different surfaces, but I soon run out of options as it seems to have problems with anything that is not glass flat. Luckily my induction hob came very handy once again, the tool stuck to it like it had been superglued since forever. Then I moved to attempt my first sharpening move using the small pairing knife. It is true, it takes some pressure to get a blade back into a proper cutting tool, but the metal shavings left behind after each pass, albeit worryingly and evident, clearly were needed to be taken off. Once I managed to get my wrist-driven tempo up to the task, I just couldn’t stop. Eventually all my professional knives were restored to their best. A little bit of honeying afterwards worked very much like a good after-shave, finishing each blade into a neat, ninja-like weapon, craving for slicing and cutting anything that stands on its way. My only reservation would be about the long term effectiveness of the tool but for that, as the say goes, only time will tell. Thank you for reading this review, I hope it helps somehow. Having suffered with blunt knives seemingly forever I decided to try one of these. In short “its brilliant”. The suction pad is the most powerful I have ever had, the actual sharpening is achieved easily, perhaps a bit too easily as if you press too hard you can see the shards of metal being removed so just be aware and DON’T press hard. After the initial sharpening which may require the removal of metal to get the right blade profile all that is needed is light pressure to restore the sharpness. Fantastic bit of kit, I’m sure you won’t be dissapointed if you buy it.

And if I realise they are not anymore, it takes a second to resharpen them. I attached the thing vertically to the cupboard wall, it stays well (I think it fall off once in several months) and is very easy to use with one hand. I have a proper sharpening stone, but I never got the skill and it takes so much more time!

Easy to use and provides a great edge with minimal loss of steel. Our 2nd one.
Does what it says on the can. Great sharpener for standard blades with minimum loss of steel. If you have very high Carbon Steel blade such as ‘Global’ then this may be too aggressive as we found it tends to ‘chip’ the edges; if this is the case you may be better off with a ‘Global’ ceramic sharpener? It requires minimal pressure to get an edge, indeed putting too much pressure on the edge just tends to shave off steel rather than providing you with a sharp knife. My wife is a professionally trained chef, and this is our 2nd ‘Anysharp’…I summary, a great tool that won’t last forever but will do a good job for a few years before requiring replacement. Hope that helps?

Amazing for the price can even sharpen an axe
What an amazing little bit of kit this is? I sharpened everything from my smallest knife to a meat cleaver, then decided to try my old axe and as you can see it put an edge back on the old dog haha 1 thing is if you suction it to a bench it will come loose after a couple swipes, I used it on a glass chopping board and it will stay there in definatley absolute bargai

Sadly, much like the knit one, pearl one, drop 7 and get bored, I never mastered the art so was thrilled to find an old knife bought back to life with this new contraption. I thought about docking a star as it feels a little bit like dragging my nails down a chalk board but that seemed a bit harsh as it’s way more fun. Now I’ll be replacing my knives regularly because I have worn them down instead of them being too blunt to cut through mash!

I am not a professional chef and I do have more than few knifes that I need to sharpen now and again, so this is more than enough for me. The suction holds it well and I slide a knife around 6-10 each with no issues, but at the same time I do it slow and carefully not crazy fast, so maybe that why it is falling apart for some people. I do have to say that it did become loose a bit after month of using it this is why I took off 1 star.
There are some steel shavings after the sharpening, so I just make sure I clean the knife and the tool properly afterwards – no sure where are they coming from (knife or sharpener) and if they suppose to happen but all in all my knifes are sharp for minimum a month and it is very easy for me to sharpen them again when need be.

I decided to try this but wasn’t holding out much hope as I’d previously tried with a wet stone and that didn’t seem to work (couldn’t get on with it). This was a last ditch effort before sending them to a knife sharpening service. My knives are global Japanese steel chefs knives so wasn’t holding out much hope in this sharpening them! Cannot even describe the difference since they have been sharpened, they glide through everything! Definitely recommend 110%. So easy to use and done in mere seconds!

Brilliant product I've been using this for almost 10 years
I saw this product again after searching for a scissor sharpner and thought it would be a good idea to review this product after years of use. It’s a Fabulous product! I’ve had mine since 2011 and it’s still going. The suction is brilliant I’ve mine attached to a tiled wall for 3 years a and it sharpens knives superbly, I have so many scars to prove it. From experience I would definitely recommend restraint when using the product especially if your not used to very very sharp knives., And to warn other household members when the knives have been sharpened.

Well, a knife sharpener that actually works! It’s a revelation and not overly expensive. Sticks to the worktop well, it feels a bit odd not having to hold it as you use it but the principle works well. I’d think it could get a bit messy if the suction gives up whilst using it bit it hasn’t happened to me yet but I’ve docked one star because of that – it’s probably me being over cautious but dragging a newly sharpened blade across a worktop doesn’t sound very attractive.

Well, a knife sharpener that actually works! It’s a revelation and not overly expensive. Sticks to the worktop well, it feels a bit odd not having to hold it as you use it but the principle works well. Awesome little tool
Used this on a set of procook x50 knives I got around 3 years ago as they were getting a bit blunt. Have to say I’m very impressed, knifes are razor sharp now and I mean razor.
I have been dropping silk scarves on them all day like Whitney Houston in the bodyguard and well, the wife is a tad upset let’s just say. Not because of the scarves so much, but rather the 3400 I just spent on an antique samurai sword as I can’t stop sharpening things.
Oh I just remembered I have an axe in the garage. I literally have an axe to grind, just buy this if you have knives that can be sharpened at a 20 angle (double sided).
Always check with the manufacturer – and remember, a blunt knife is a dangerous knife.
