Easy to use no need for a manual supprised at how small it was compared to photo but very good tool

When I saw how small this was I was very doubtful that it would work, how wrong I was. The suction on it is great and it sharpened all of my knives so well it was like they were all brand new. I actually love that it so small it fits in a drawer so it’s not cluttering up my kitchen. I can’t rate this product highly enough.

Great little tool, small enough to fit in the cutlery drawer. Sticks to the worktop or marble workboards with no danger of slipping. Sharpens knives in 2 or 3 strokes, razor sharp. Replacement blades available. Some of my 40 year old knives that are made of better steel end up scalpel sharp, so be very careful
Great value for money. Thoroughly recommend.

After years of failing to get a decent edge with a steel, and wearing out a wetstone and honing guides without success, this device restored my knives to usefullness in less than 5 minutes

We love this sharpener and friends and family have gone on to order ones for themselves. So easy to use and keeps our kitchen knives beautifully sharp – takes a few seconds to clip it securely onto the countertop.

I’ve tried a few different knife sharpeners in the past but this one seems to easily beat the others. Just take your time a couple of strokes should sharpen the knife. My wife uses this one too and is really impressed with it. The suction cap holds it in place and it’s easy to clean. Would definitely buy agai

This sharpener has so far outlasted the others we had, still giving good results, easy to use, put it on a flat smooth surface, Push the lever down, it will stick to the surface (by suction) and providing you’ve done it properly it will stay in place while you sharpen your knives, to sum up I would recommend this product.

I cannot sing too highly the praises for this fantastic knife sharpener. In my 61 years of cooking I have never had a knife sharpener that was so easy to use and which sharpened knives so well. It is small, and will easily fit into a kitchen drawer. It’s suction holder is effective on a smooth surface, and therefore is absolutely rock solid without having to hold it with one hand, whilst trying to sharpen the knife with the other. In short it is fantastic, and costs less than most other sharpeners.

    This knife sharpener is amazing!
The reviews that are saying it doesn’t work are wrong. When you have really blunt knifes its going to take around 15 swipes of the knife to get it sharp not 5! Just keep going and test on an apple till your desired sharpness.. then after you sharpen it won’t take as many glides.
Keep the knife nice and straight and glide with just a little pressure. Its fantastic !
My knifes were so blunt it has shed so much metal scrap shards.

Works well and knives have found a new lease of life. I give knife quite a hard time and the edge lasts more than other sharpeners I bought before. Never gonna be close to a sharpening stone, hence the 4 stars, but is far easier to use and definitely much less painful to use ; overall, a nice tool to have in your drawe

This sharpener “sticks” to the worktop with a suction device so your fingers are never in any danger. It sharpens so quickly and easily I could hardly believe it. It is also very small so it fits in the cupboard easily. Superb device. Recommended.

A great little item. It does what it says, and is very easy to use. The sucker underneath holds the sharpener firmly. Easy to clean the metal shavings. As it’s quite small it stores easily in the drawer when not in use.

When it arrived I thought “well that’s a bit small” but it really does work! To get the suction to work the surface its going on must be totally smooth as it would not work on my very slightly textured kitchen worktop, so I put it onto my glass chopping board and it stuck solidly. All my knives are much much sharper and this little device takes very little space to store. A good buy.

The product is great it’s a sharpener and does it well, just be mindful that just the action itself puts your worktop in the firing line of the drawn back knife tip. Well it did for me! Ensure that the sharpener is being used in the right orientation keep the suction clamp is pulled towards you other than that your good to go. Top notch sharpener. Nothing more to say.

As a professional chef I am used to using a traditional steel but this sharpener is fantastic. I have one at work and one at home. It does need a smooth area to stick to. Gives your knives a great edge.
The sharpening edges do wear down but you can unscrew the top and swap them over plus you can buy new ones which are only slightly cheaper than a new unit.
Highly recommended for anyone to use.

This is probably the best knife sharpener I’ve had for sharpening the blades. Really easy to use as well. My only complaint is the suction just doesn’t seem to work well at all. The description says it will attach to any flat surface, in my experience this simply isn’t true. I’m able to attach the product to my kitchen worksurface and it is stuck on, but as soon as I start to use it, the suction fails and it comes loose so I have to hold it still with my hand.

  41. Jessica Learish says:

     United Kingdom

This product is really good – it sticks to the surface perfectly and is ready to use so fast and effortlessly. It’s so safe too as you don’t mess about trying to hold the sharpener. Single handed you can drag the knife over the sharpening grove – you just got to remember you’re sharpening a knife so be brave as the noise (which is hardly anything at all) will penetrate your teeth and it’s worse if your mums knives are blunt as it’ll take a little longer to sharpen – but you’ll get a good edge. A great device for any kitchen no matter how small.

  42. Anonymous says:

This product is more compact than I thought it would be; fits in my cutlery drawer. The suction cup is very strong with a pull down handle to lock in position. Dragging a knife backwards through the blades is akin to scratching a blackboard (minus 1 star) – that said, it took three passes through the blades to achieve a sharpness equivalent to using a standard knife steel for 30 minutes – It is very efficient! After sharpening a blunt blade, it cut segments of lemon, lime, and even tomatoes with ease.

I have used so many different types of knife sharpeners, the stone blocks, the rods, other branded knife sharpeners, but nothing sharpened my dull blades. I was quite disappointed as I had bought a couple of expensive knives, I didn’t want to bin them yet nothing worked, till my cousin told me about this. And wow! They really do work. I cut my finger, the first time in years this has happened lol. I finally enjoy chopping and slicing again, I forgot how much quicker it is with a sharp blade. But please do use it according to the instructions, my sister in law almost sliced her fingers off misusing this

This is an excellent product which firstly puts back the keen edges to your knives and then with regular use it keeps them keen. Never again will you go the slice a tomato and up squashing it instead. I have one, I sent one to my sister in law who had a lot of squashed tomatoes! Finally my daughter who had just moved back to London after CV19 asked me to order her one. Praise indeed.

Ok i was very sceptical about this as it was small didn’t think it would work, but hey I’ve had fun sharpening all the knifes in the kitchen, it does exactly what it says on tha package, I’ve had a few blunt knife and it has bought them back to life, only negative thing i can say it doesn’t come with replacement sharpening blade, which would be useful to someone who sharpen knife all the time, but apart from that it works magic

This item feels solid once the suction base is activated. It seems to sharpen quite well. Advice. Slow down! Ensure that the blade is carefully placed in the groove of the sharpener EACH time you draw the blade (lightly!) across the sharpener. Ensure the blade is VERTICAL in the groove, otherwise you MAY get a scratch on the blade parallel to the blade edge caused by the top edge of the ‘V’ you draw the blade through. Remember:- draw it across lightly.

I bought the first one in 2011. It has been well used and is still going strong. It is an amazing sharpener which I have used on knives and scissors. It is compact and easy to store, too.

This second purchase was for my sister who was complaining about her blunt knives. She, too, has found this to be a brilliant addition to her kitchen gadgets. It is incredible value for money and does exactly what it promises to do.

Obviously this is not the perfect way to sharpen a knife. If that’s what you’re after, go find yourself a great whetstone and learn the proper technique.

However, if you’re just after knives sharp enough to make working in the kitchen a breeze, then this is the knife sharpener you want.

Just suction it to the counter, run your knife through a few times (I find I need to do a few more times than the instructions recommend…. around 10 passes), and then rinse off any metal shards. You’ll immediately notice a difference.

Compared to some other knife sharpeners I’ve used, I find this one does sharpen the knife a little more symmetrically than some, which is a real plus.

I also find that its small and compact shape make it easy to store at the back of a drawer or even on the countertop somewhere. So it’s the ideal knife sharpener to whip out when you need it, quickly hone your knives, and then stick it away again.

For the price, it’ll definitely do what you’re wanting it to do.

    This is astounding!

I have always used a stone to sharpen my knives until my daughter had one of these and I saw how easily her bread knife went through her home made loaf.

For a start I didn’t even know you could sharpen serrated edged knives. I ordered on straight away and it is so much better than my stone method.

My bread knife sails through bread with great ease and doesn’t even squash the bread. Then I thought I would have a go at my dining knives that are truly blunt and now they are like new.

Easy to use….just pull your knife through the preset angled blades a few times (about 8 for my very blunt dinner knives) and you are done.

    However,
Do be very careful this does make knives scalpel like sharp, my daughter sliced her thumb with her newly sharpened knife, so have the plasters handy.

    No more blunt knives!

I was surprised at how small this is and it can fit in a cutlery drawer! It’s very easy to use and works quickly although with kitchen scissors the angle makes it impossible to sharpen the whole blade uniformly. I hadn’t sharpened my knives before and don’t know anything about the correct angle or anything, so it did seem to make a couple of my knives more blunt and the scissors don’t cut well now (although a couple of knives are now sharper than I’ve ever seen them!). I didn’t mind as they are cheap but I wouldn’t use this on more expensive items without more research.

I was gifted one of these by a friend who had raved about it. I’ve had the sharpener for about two years now and it has successfully and consistently sharpened all of the food prep knives in my kitchen during this time. The AnySharp is really easy and quick to use. I’ve found it to consistently sharpen all of my food prep knives since owning it. I like it so much I’ve even purchased more from of them as gifts for other people.

The product is very compact and cute. It’s size makes it easy to store, but does not detract from its skill in sharpening knives well. If you have large hands it can be tricky to hold, but it can be stuck to the kitchen side with the attachment included. Grab hold tight and sharpen knives in 10-20 seconds. The knives are really sharp afterwards, and I recommend this reasonably priced product for every kitchen, big or small.

Ok… here’s my take on this sharpener. If you have very expensive knives with different angled blades then this probably isn’t for you. But if you’ve got very expensive knives then you shouldn’t be looking at a cheap knife sharpener.

Personally, I have your basic kitchen knife set. This sharpener has sharpened all of my knives without any problems. This is a universal sharpener for universal knives. I don’t think it’s designed for bespoke angled blades.

If you have your normal kitchen knives, middle of the range, then this is perfect. Never had any issues with pitting.

Great suction so it stays in place and is sturdy. Don’t press down too hard on the knife when sharpening. Let the knife and cutting blades do all the work. Would recommend it as it works.

Ok so my experience of knife sharpeners is somewhat limited, but of all the ones I’ve tried up to now, this one really is the best!

It has a suction cup base, so we anchored it to our marble chopping board (which may also be the cause of blunt knives) and set about sharpening our blades.
The sharpener did not budge once. It held fast to the chopping board and was firmly in place.
We sharpened every knife we had including the serated bread knife.

What an immediate difference. The turkey this Christmas stood no chance as it was sliced easily into thick slabs for dinner! Potatoes cut like butter! The bread no longer ends up fighting back and getting crumbs and chunks everywhere or ripping.
Infact the knives are now so sharp that the brand new dish sponge that was also put out the same day is now 2 sponges!

This made sharpening knives and blades an absolute breeze.
If they do one for scissors then I’ll also be investing in that too.
Well worth the money and so easy to use. Would recommend.

My second review of this product having now bought seven of them over several years both as replacements but also as presents for family. The easiest and most effective knife sharpener I have ever used and I’m really fussy about knives being very sharp in the kitchen so it gets a lot of use. Only slight downside is they do wear out (to be expected) as sharpening performance does drop off after a LOT of use but I always replace with the same again and keep a spare in the drawer. A really excellent product.

I didn’t realise their was a classic and pro ordered the first one which was the classic and it cost more!
However arrived the next day and the knives are certainly sharp with minimal effort. I almost got all new knives as I didn’t think we could sharpen them successfully as they were so blunt. Well I was wrong. This works very well.

There’s a lot of hype around this little tool and if you’re a professional in the kitchen it might not be for you.

For me after years of using a sharpening steel and not really getting the results I wanted, I swapped to this tool. I love it! I have sharp knives again! It works great!

The suction is really powerful, so I found it strange that some had struggled with this. Please note that if your blade is blunt or has a single edge it will take a while to get it sharp again. It’s important to get the angle of the blade right as you draw it through the blades, just as with any sharpening. Also, I’m the only one to use so there’s consistency and each blade is sharpened the same way.

For the price, ease of use and replacement blades it’s a steal.

  59. Anonymous says:

This has put the edge back on some horribly dull blades and has managed to take the edge off two decent knives. It grinds away steel with the lightest effort and should make good the bluntness on most of your knives.

However if you have Sabatier or other premium brands then this will not do the job you want it to. It sharpens to a different angle, taking the edge away. Be careful!

This is good at sharpening knives, better that the one it replaced. The problem with mine is after drawing the knife through lightly a few times it comes unstuck, something my previous one never did. Its happened with all the knives I have sharpened. I fix it to the same dry surface as usual and make sure the suction cup if dry and dirt free but it still happens. Still sharpens knives but annoying and it shouldn’t happen.

I was just on the cusp of actually buying new expensive knives to replace my old Kitchen Devil knives I’ve had forever as I couldn’t find anything to actually sharpen them properly.
I came upon “Anysharp”, wow I can’t recommend enough. Bloomin’ BRILLIANT !!!
I read all the reviews and some reviewers complained that it had damaged their very expensive Sabatier knives. My advise to them is have them professionally sharped at an excessive cost!!!
I purchased this devise about 6 weeks ago and sharpened all of the knives and they are still not blunt !!
Yes it removes tiny shards of the steel blade when sharpening (how else would it get them sharp??) and it has taken miniscule chinks out of the blade……I don’t care my knives are finally razor sharp !!!
    Thank you “Anysharp” !!!

So so easy to use, just suction to a clean surface and drag your knife through it, may takes several drags the first time depending on the state of the knife. But once sharp, a few drags through once a week will keep your knives in tip top razor sharp shape. I like that the teeth are changeable so if/when they go dull it’s around a fiver to make it like new again. Not buying a whole new sharpener. Great kit, well made. Literally can’t fault i

I bought this because none of the knives I possess can cut with any great degree of precision as over the time I’ve owned them they’ve lost their sharpness considerably. I’ve been making my own seitan kebab meat which I have been trying to cut into nice thin ribbons but with the tools I have I just can’t do it.
I looked at new knives and although they initially appear to be rather good, they are quite expensive considering that all I needed was a sharp knife. I have lots of kitchen knives already and so through my scrolling I saw this sharpener and for the cost seemed like a sensible option.
I received mine this afternoon and soon after began running my knives through it. It sticks well to the kitchen surface which is great for ease of use and also safety. My kitchen knives are now cutting all sorts of food like a razor. I cut up the first food I had nearby which was a small potato into thin slivers which I would never have been able to before! I had some kebab left and sliced that up and it did exactly what I wanted it to. I did have to apply some pressure when sharpening in order to achieve this result but it has definitely revived and improved the tools that I use which is fantastic. In all I’m very impressed with how it’s given my knives a new lease of life and for the price in my opinion it’s very much worth it for what it does as it’s saved me a fair amount of money.

Pull the little lever down, it clamps tightly to the benchtop. No hands needed. A few downward swipes and that’s it. Time will tell how well it will keep knives sharp. Probably have to sharpen my kitchen knives quite often. The tool itself saved me from buying new expensive knives so I’m happy with it. Glad to have found it. Inexpensive too.

This is the second AnySharp that I have bought. The first lasted several years and was still going strong, but had done plenty of work. I wanted to fit new blades to this machine, but they are as expensive to buy as a new AnySharp, so I bought a new one. It is not the best knife sharpener in the world, whatever the manufacturer claims, but it does a good job and is very easy to use. It can also cope with serrated knives, which is unusual.

  70. JohnnieJeffreys says:

This does the job for a quick fix for a blunt knife but definitely leaves the knife a little uneven because it lacks the refining sharpening stages which would be available on 3 stage sharpeners.

That said, it does leave knives sharp so if you are ok frequently sharpening them, go ahead and get one of theses. You probably won’t be disappointed.

The sharpener attaches securely to the worktop and you can feel the blades ‘shaving’ the knife edge, I wouldn’t say that the knives were razor sharp after use though, although this may be due to the lateral action of the sharpener, it does ‘redress’ the edge of previously poorly sharpened knives though, all in all not a bad kitchen tool.
It will be great for my wife to use and stop her constantly nagging me to sharpen her kitchen knives.
    UPDATE
Now we have had it for some time I must say it works a treat, is very easy to use and has saved me hours of sharpening! I have uprated to four stars, its well worth the price.

bought this product due to the positive reviews and I must say, the product works really well. I used around 6 strokes for each knife and my knives were even sharper than when I purchased them! I thought the suction wasn’t the best. The knife sharpener didn’t hold its suction after 3 or so swipes and I had to reposition and reattach it to the surface. However this might be down to my kitchen worktop surface as opposed to the knife sharpener. Overall a great product and one which I expect will last a long time!

Excellent sharpener. Definitely worth the money. I have used all sorts of sharpeners including rocks!! This is just perfect. With just a few swipes between the blades and your knife is as good as new.
Suction … Something to work on. If it’s on a ceremic or steel worktop it works perfectly but doesn’t as much on the usual MDF worktop. So you have to hold it in place.
Wish there was a sharpener for kitchen scissors with zigzag edges.

Have bought many sharpeners over the years and this is by far the easiest to use and the most efficient. Yes over time it will eat up the knife as by sharpening it you gently shave off metal from the blade. But this sharpener has brought back to knife many old knives that I thought were past it and some new ones that were never sharp enough to begin with. Well build this should last a long time.

Pros: very easy to use, suction worked wonderfully and didn’t budge at all, knifes very sharp after use, cheap
Cons: nil – expect tell others you have sharpened the knife so they don’t cut themselves!!

Notes: I am a novice when it comes to cooking, basic meals only. My opinion of this knife sharpener may be different to more experienced cooks. But for me it made a great difference to chopping up veg and meat. My knifes aren’t fancy and didn’t cost a lot so I was happy to experiment with a sharpening tool.

This little gadget is a must in your kitchen. Fits easily in a drawer as its tiny, but mighty! My knives are deadly after being sharpened with this, be careful as you can easily cut your finger once you use your freshly sharpened knives! But so worth it as it makes chopping a breeze. I sharpened every single knife I have with ease, and all were razor sharp immediately and haven’t had to re-sharpen yet. Amazing little thing and so cheap for what it does – got it for the all the family too!

This managed to sharpened my blunt knife although I had to apply some pressure to sharpened it. Initially I had followed the instructions and only passed the blade through lightly and felt disappointed when there was not difference. I am glad I did apply a reasonable pressure on the blade through the sharpening groove and was delighted with the results although there was some shedding of the metal. This knife that had been unused for the past 10 years because of bluntness, could now cut raw meat with no problem. Because its compact, I can put it away with the rest of the utensils. Well pleased with this product.

Over many years have always pooh-poohed “Quick” knife sharpeners. However, in latter years I seem to have lost the skill of using a whetstone and steel. I exasperation, I finally ordered one of these and – Hallelujah!
After my initial trial, I went through all the kitchen knives – even a cleaver, and carving a joint has become a satisfaction once again.

Brought up a knife to razor sharp very quickly, but be aware that this takes a LOT of material off the blade. One way or another, it’s going to get your knife sharp, but if it has to totally re-shape the blade to do it then it will.

Suction cup feature clamps it onto any flat surface. Smaller than you think but that’s no bad thing as you can throw it in any bag.

This sharpener has done wonders for my cheap knifes. I was looking at either buying new sharp knifes or a knife sharpener and I am glad I brought this as it has massively improved the sharpness of my knifes which were previously dull. I find that the suction cup doesn’t always stick to the surface but that might just be my surface. So build quality seems alright and the price is pretty good.

Overall, I highly recommend this if you are looking to turn dull cheap knifes into something more.

After years of using a butchers steel my family forced me to buy something smaller, that didnt involve me waving a knife around the place and means my worn steel can be thrown away.

This sharpener clamps to the work surface securely and just let the weight of the knife go against the sharpeners.

Do that 4 or 5 times and and you get a wonderful edge to your knife.

I did try pushing down with a little pressure on an old Sabatier and it screeched metal on metal with metal filings all over the place, so the bigger the blade the less pressure you need, just let the knife do all the work.

I bought a set of knives and was concerned at how quickly the edges were dulled with use. I did a fair amount of research into knife sharpening and sharpeners. I am suspicious of anything claiming to be the world’s best (how would they know?) but I opted for this device. I am glad to report that it does what it says on the box for my plain knives (not tried it with serrated knives). I have sharpened a number of old knives and probably didn’t need to buy a new set (they are nice to have, though).

This item is great, and does exactly what it says it’s going to do. It’s easy to use, and will sharpen almost any dull blade in less than a minute! You have to ensure that you place it on a dry, smooth surface and engage the suction lock securely. This can be a little difficult to do, but that only means you’re getting a perfect seal. If you don’t get a good seal, the sharpener may move whilst you’re sharpening a blade, which is clearly not safe. It does generate some metal shards after sharpening so be careful when cleaning up afterwards that you clean all the shards away. I’ve sharpened at least 15-20 knives (both mine and my parents), and each time I visit them they always ask me to bring it! There are a few knives that can’t be sharpened by this item, so check the instructions before you sharpen any blade. Overall great value for money and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to sharpen knives with next to fuss!

Such an easy solution to a simple problem! Best value for money out there!

First off let me say that this has totally renewed my knives. It’s sharpening ability is unlike any other kitchen sharpener I have used. It’s fantastic!

The only issue is the suction – it needs to be auctioned a few times before it will stay for the time you need to sharpen. It’s lever to pull down to suction is easy and simple to use however depending on the work surface it can be a bit of a nuisance.

However it’s a great tool to have in any kitchen and I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

Works well on all the knives I have tried to far. A variety of cheap kitchen knives in varying degrees of bluntness, now they all slice tomatoes pretty well. They’re not razors but they’re pretty good. Suction is sadly not good on our sideboard, which is some kind of boggo texture over chipboard. First time I used it it held well, but never since. Fairly easy to hold with the other hand so it’s still worth keeping.

I have attached this to a wall tile, the suction is extremely good. You simply draw a knife through the slot – I have positioned it so that the slot is horizontal, but you set it vertically or at any angle that suits you. I believe as you draw the blade through the sharpening slot it shaves a miniscule amount off the blade, giving you a new sharp finish. It seems to do the job well and I would recommend it to others.

This is a great piece of kit for the price.
It has given all of my knives a new life. Really strong suction to the worktop and really straight forward to use.

It’s pretty aggressive at sharpening and you can see little metal flakes coming off as you use it.

Be sure to give your knives a good clean after using it and you will get many more years out of sharp knives using this simple effective piece of kit. Wow – I sound like a JML advert!

I was thinking of new knives but decided to try this first. Three or four good drags across the device definitely sharpened my knives, including the serated ones (though I’m not sure if it works on ALL serated knives?). I only have big standard kitchen knives so can’t speak to professional knives, but I’m happily chopping tomatoes and slicing bread again!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users…not quite as sharp as you see in the advert with the twirly-moustached chef/inventor guy, slicing tomatoes with a trowel, but sharp enough that you can chop anything with ease.
Before this, I used a whet stone and got my knives super sharp and they lasted that way for a long time.
I don’t know if it’s because I CAN use the AnySharp more that I do use it more (using whet stones makes me feel like Rambo for about 10 seconds before I realise I’m just a pedantic surbanite hipster and using a whet stone is boring as hell), or if this takes off a lot of material and therefore the knife blunts quicker, but I do use this more than I did the whet stone.

Ultimately though, who cares? I don’t have a 100 knife that demand I sharpen it carefully like a samurai sword. My knives are relatively cheap (probably 50 for the most expensive one) and this is so quick and easy to use, I don’t care if I have to use it more. The suction pad on the AnySharp holds onto the counter well and gets the knives sharp in just a few seconds and I imagine it will be decades before my knives run out of material to sharpen!

    Bottom line
Makes cooking easier. Recommended. I bought one for all my family members.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m probably like a lot of people who were lead to believe their whole life that the honing steel in the kitchen drawer is actually a sharpener! Unfortunately all that does is straighten the sharp edge (if used correctly).

I’d accumulated around 20 sharp kitchen knives which all eventually became so blunt that I may as well cut a tomato by whacking it with a hammer. These knives all slowly got relegated to the back of a drawer until I eventually I had one usable knife left and decided something needed to be done.

This device works well. Suctions onto a work surface easily and holds very strong. It is designed with angled stones so that you simply drag the knive backwards at 0 degrees, no angle required.

I now have an almost full set of sharp knives again. I found with my blunt knives that they needed a few more goes on the sharpener. After a quick honing they were all able to pass the “tomato test” with flying colours.

The only cons – the noise while you sharpen (metal being scraped on a stone) is unpleasant, like nails on a chalkboard. I can handle it may make some people shudder. Also I have a couple of knives that just refuse to sharpen after many goes on the device. Maybe they are too far gone and require a full whetstone treatment. Either way they are too cheap to bother. Just be aware it may not bring every knife back to life.

We have a knife block and use them regularly for chopping veg etc so we absolutely needed this product for sharpening our knives every now and then. It just works well and is nice and compact so it can live in a drawer away.

Brilliant little sharpener, thought I needed a new one and this has proved it. Very easy to attach to a flat surface, I use a marble chopping block but anything with a smooth surface is fine. Run the knife through the cutter blade and you can feel it sharpening. When done, unclip it and its small enough to fit in the knife drawer. I have no idea why I waited so long to buy one at this cheap price!

  95. thebranddetective says:

I’ve had several knife sharpeners in the past that have never really worked well. They have mostly been cheap, so I was a little concerned that this was also going to be ineffective. I was wrong. This one actually does the job it says it will do. Really easy to use and easy to secure to a work surface.
A few gentle strokes, drawing the blade back toward you is enough to transform an old blunt blade. Make sure you wipe the blade after, as it does leave metal shards/filings. I sharpened pretty much all of my knives within about 10 minutes, from pairing knives through to my big Chinese style meat chopper. Great results. I’ve not tried any gently serrated knives as I don’t own any, so I can’t comment on those.
No idea as to the longevity of this product, but given the price, I’d be happy to buy a new one very year to keep my knives super sharp!

I’m happy with this knife sharpener and love that it has a suction option so it sticks to surfaces making it unnecessary to hold. I find it works best on our marble cutting block and not quite as well on a laminate top. Our dull knives have been renewed, but be careful… it does make them very sharp depending on how long you run them through the sharpener.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have a large selection of Global knives which have never been back to their factory sharp edges since I got them. I did have a similar device with identical double sharpening steels angled at 20 degrees in a plastic base, designed to be screwed to worktops, so I fitted it inside a kitchen cupboard next to my knife rack.

Unfortunately, although it was a cracking device to put an edge on my knives, unbeknownst to me it was the wrong angle for high end Japanese Global knives. These are supplied from the factory with a 17 degree edge so my efforts giving them a 20 degree edge messed them up. To add to the mess, I also bought a MinoSharp device from John Lewis which is custom made for Global knives. SO in essence I was giving them two different edges!

However, it is a handy device for British Sheffield Steel knives, German or French, which are set with a 20 degree angle, so I bought one for my other knives in my collection. It works just the same as the USA made device I had, which I binned after rotating the blades four different ways to use them to the end of their life.

Please don’t press down as it will remove quite a bit of metal from your knife and you will be left with loads of swarf. Make sure you wash the knife before use after sharpening as it will have small bits of metal filings on it.

The suction cup is very powerful and sturdy. Looking through the reviews, Amazon seem to have been selling a cheap Chinese imitation and the reviews of this cheap rubbish are intermingled with the genuine Anysharp (which although designed in Britain is probably made there anyway.)

I have now gone down the Rabbit Hole of high end knife sharpening and have purchased a Japanese Whetstone set with a bamboo sharpening block holder and three different grade waterstones. These do require me to keep the knives at a 17 degree angle and although there is a guide included, it wears out when being attached to the knife. So I am still searching for the perfect sharpener for my Global knives.

However, if you have some blunt or less than great European made knives, go for this handy device as it is small, cheap and quick, giving you a sharp knife in less than a minute!

I do not think I could have been more surprised.

Firstly I expected a very large sharpener -this is so small but it packs a real force.
Once opened and then, by use of the suction, made stable on the worktop, I sharpened three steel knives, each with 4 strokes (very light strokes I would add, through the v-shaped sharpener. The result, knives that cut better than even when they were brand new.

    This is fantastic!!!!!

I have been looking for something to sharpen my kitchen knives quickly and easily and I’ve found it with the Any Sharp. Holds its self to the worktop with the built it suction cup, leaving you to get on with the job in hand.
It takes a little practice to get the pressure right, don’t push down down to hard as you bring to knife through the v of the sharpener and you’ll get a near razor edge.

This is a small item, but is incredibly good at its job. The suction cup holds it in place really well, subject to the surface being used (same for all suction cups really). The sharpener itself is really effective. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. Place the knife on the sharpener and pull back. Do it twice, job done. I was dubious the first time I used it. I intentionally selected one of our older knives that was past its best. Two passes and the knife is sharp again! It does sound like you are stripping the knife as it goes over the sharpeners and I suppose you are removing some of the bladed in order to sharpen it, hence only passing it over twice. Overall I am very impressed at the quality of the unit and the results it produces. Highly recommended
