Got this as an exchange to replace a bulky and poorly designed carpet cleaner from another manufacturer which rightly ought to stick to making no-nonsense vacuum cleaners…
Pros:
—Easy to assemble out of the box.
—Low storage footprint.
—Attachment hose has all the nozzles integrated into the hose itself so no fiddly or leaky valves and swapping the attachment is simple and quick.
—clean and dirty water tanks are quick release and easy to fill, no disassembly of the main unit required! Both have carry handles however the clean water tank one may pose problems for those with weak or arthritic fingers.
—Easy to push about and maneuver
—power rotary brushes in the main unit
—hauls up tons of the water so the carpets dry quickly
—manufactured in partnership with a lot of mainstream domestic cleaning products so no difficulty sourcing more shampoo
—Actually left our twelve year old rental carpets sparkling!
—did not spray water up the wall.
Cons:
—as mentioned, clean water tank carry handle isn’t ideal for everyone
—due to its bulk, the main cleaning head doesn’t get right up to the edge of the carpet (however the attachments are reasonable substitutes)
—edit: not sure if this is just an effect of the ‘max’ setting, but the unit is incredibly loud. Not something you want to use of a weekend or evening if you share walls/floors with neighbours!
Very well worth the money and a good investment!
Whilst our carpet isn’t overly dirty, it does at times smell of our dogs. This cleaner gives a good deep clean and quickly removes those odours.
It’s easy to use, very powerful and does exactly what it says.
I had previously purchased a vax that leaked from the back. It was returned and replaced by this and its well built and no issues with water leakage.
Great buy if you are looking for a carpet cleaner.
This is my 3rd Bissell carpet cleaner and probably the best yet. It cleans well -as did my other 2 – but what makes this stand out is the ease of which to actually clean the machine after. Previously I have had to try to remove hair and debris from the cleaner heads and all areas where the water and solution flow. This has been difficult but with this model all the necessary parts are removable and access is much easier. Also it is lighter than my previous model so easier for me to use.
My carpets came up and absolute treat with this and it was relatively easy to assemble and use. I’m very pleased that I can get this out and maintain my carpets from now on and really liked the fresh smell of the detergent. I’d highly recommend this product if you have pets. My two rabbits are housetrained relatively well and this helped clean a bit dirt and gathered up their hair really well!
It was easy to put together, lightweight and looks stylish! It’s easy to fill and easy to empty. It comes with 3 small bottles of solution and the hand held attachments too!
I’m so happy and my carpets look amazing
So….I use another branded carpet cleaner regularly and I believed my carpets were pretty clean (they are cream coloured, so EVERYTHING shows) however, as I’ve had the cleaner for a few years, I thought it was about time I got a new one…so bought this…well, my god…the dirt !!! 3 canisters later, the water was dark brown (bit mortifying really :/ ) The carpet, as you can see, is IMMACULATE !! And as clean now, as they were, on the day they were fitted, get this cleaner, you will not be disappointed !
WOW, WOW, WOW! Our elderly dog has been poorly this week and we had to make the decision to hire an industrial cleaner or buy a GOOD carpet cleaner. Not disappointed we purchased the BISSELL. Started in the home office, despite regular hoovering, surprised how much dirt was extracted. Moved on to the bedroom where the carpet is relatively new and again given a new lease of life. And everything smells amazing. Easy to assemble, clear instructions on how to use and also easy to dismantle to clean. All great and cannot wait to use upstairs on an older cream carpet. 5 STAR REVIEW – WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I really like the ease of use of this carpet cleaner. I have 2 Bissel upright vacuum cleaners which have a strong suction and good brush action to lift the pile, so banked on the same being true for the carpet cleaner, and was pleased to discover that this was indeed the case.
I noted with curiosity that a full reservoir of water and carpet detergent didn’t clean as much carpet area as I thought it would – could be that my carpets are so dirty, or I was too liberal with dispensing the cleaning liquid.
The suction is very good and lifted a lot of dirt … I wasn’t surprised how much came out and I suspect there is much more to lift out – I live on a farm and muddy shoes come straight in to the house, as well as 4 footed and 2 footed pets and other animals too! :- )
It is the first time in 9 years the carpets are being cleaned and I am very pleased with the clean result.
What I love about having this carpet cleaner is that I can use it to clean small patches at a time as and when I feel like doing so. It is quick and easy to get cleaning. My elderly parent lives with us and who frequently spills various liquids and food, so this will make spot cleaning a breeze.
My husband put the machine together and was annoyed at the lack of clarity in the assembly diagrams. It was finally completed, and I couldn’t wait to use it. It took me a while to find the on off switch despite looking at the instructions. It is the red button on the left side about half way down and it needs depressing to switch on and off! :- )
The other aspect which I would suggest Bissel design engineers look at is redesigning the front plate cover over the brushes as carpet lint gets stuck in there and it is very difficult and awkward to remove the lint, even with the lint remover tool (long thin flat plastic with “teeth” at the end of it..almost like a comb).
I am looking forward to using it on our car seats, our fabric headboard, our dining chair seats, and more.
Overall I am satisfied with the convenience it provides, and it will quickly pay for itself (don’t need to hire a machine or a professional and can take my time).
My sons two very large dogs arrived with him at the end of August, and due to relationship breakdown, the dogs and he didn’t leave. One of the dogs had a monumental accident (or two, or three) one night and hit about every carpeted room in my home. This wasn’t just a straightforward accident. I have Merino wool carpet throughout!!!! You can’t imagine my horror and dismay at the problem I was confronted with. For years I’ve had a professional carpet cleaner come to my home at least once a year – he had recently visited 🙁 I ordered the Bissell and was relieved at the results. It took about 4 cleans and there’s still some staining to be sorted (hopefully) but the carpet cleaner was not only easy to assemble and use but effective.
I had a top of the range vax machine but unfortunately died on me and as we all no when it comes to buying something new especially when I loved my other machine so much I was a little nervous about purchasing a new machine so I thought lets try this one well if I loved my other machine this one makes it look as if my vax was completely rubbish this machine cleans and freshens the carpet with no bother at all so easy to operate and clean if your looking for a very top of the range carpet cleaner at an absolute bargain then this is the machine for you , I can’t highly recommend this machine enough am so pleased I bought this one
Worth the money imo & I recommend it.
Worth the money imo & I recommend it.
At last, Bissell have switched to having one clear view tank for clean and another for dirty water. You can now see when one is full and the other empty. With the old model you simply ran out of solution and could easily frustratingly attempt to do a few square metres of carpet without ever realising the clean water tank was dry. The previous model would also horribly clog up with hair and fluff. The design of the new model is superior and you even get a flexible tool to clean out the head. The tools also come in a freestanding bag. The old design tried to integrate them at all times, which simply added to weight and their bulk caused problems when manouvering around obstructions. Overall, a much improved design and thats why I give it five stars as the old model wasn’t bad, but this is much better.
Had to write a review as I’m so pleased with this. Sad to think I can be so happy with a steam cleaner… I originally bought a Vax but it broke after second use and I’m so glad I looked around rather than replacing it. This is much lighter than the equivalent Vax, easier to use and very much easier to clean. It’s done a fantastic job on my carpets. I used the deep clean setting on an old rug and it practically sucked every loose thread out. Not as good on stairs but I suspect that is the case for all steam cleaners. Highly recommended.
I can’t imagine why someone would write a negative review for this product unless it was faulty. Absolutely amazing, my carpets look brand new again with minimal effort. My only comment would be not to put as much cleaning solution on as it says as it really doesn’t need it, i used half and it still did a stunning job. Also love how you can take it all apart really easily to give it all a good clean after use snd everything clicks nicely back in to place with nice sounds, like an expensive car . Also says it has a 6 year guarantee which I wasn’t expecting!
We have 9 cats who are free to come and go as they please in any weather, and live in a bungalow with all surfaces carpeted except the kitchen and the bathroom. I used this product to thoroughly clean carpets in the lounge, dining room and bedroom. It made a brilliant job of cleaning all the carpets and I was particularly impressed with the twin rotors.
great machine, purchased as a replacement for older style Bissell. this has better suction and is much more user friendly, better with two tanks. only downside is that cleaning product goes in with hot clean water, if not all used can be wasteful. i save the unused clean water & mix to use next time, seems to work ok and saves waste. like previous machine it is quite heavy so can be a struggle getting upstairs ( I am 70).hose is now separate from machine, I’ve not made my mind up to weather this is beer or worse and I haven’t had much occasion to use it.
I use this on rugs and fitted carpets. It is easy to use and, being much lighter than my previous Vax, not such hard work. I am glad I bought it.
I have been through the whole house and the carpets came up like new, feel great under bare feet. I bought this version because the slightly dearer one did not have an extension for the stairs. I had a Vax many years ago and was so put off, it has taken 30 years for me to buy another. I was led by Lakeland which was only selling the Bissell and as I have full trust in that company, I went for this and have not been let down.
This has to be one of my best purchases in the last couple of years. I am so impressed with it, and wish I had bought one ages ago. I am maybe a bit quick off the mark writing a review, because I haven’t tried the tools that come with it yet, but I have no reason to suppose they will let me down. I haven’t found any bad points yet, apart from I struggle a bit replacing the dirty water tank after I’ve emptied it and it takes several attempts, but that may jusst be down to me. Over all I am delighted with it, and my carpets and rugs are all having a new lease of life!
This amazing cleaner was bought for my Mothers house, she has very pale carpets which were in dire need of cleaning, the carpets were not old but due to illness there had been increasing amounts of traffic as nurses and carers can’t take their shoes off for health and safety reasons. I have to say the carpets look amazing so fresh and the heavy traffic areas are back to normal, this cleaner is also very easy to clean once used and is so much better than a rental.
Great carpet cleaner leaving the carpet virtually dry. The only downside is that it is very heavy if you need to get it up or down stairs
Well apart from wasting money on ^^, I’m so glad I bought this Bissell pet friendly model. Its so well thought out, the parts that need cleaning after each use simply clip off and back on again, the clean and dirty water reservoirs are easy to install, clean and replace, and most importantly, it cleans the carpets to an amazing level, I wish I’d got a photo to add, cos it’s hard to believe it, it was so noticable that the 2nd carpet I cleaned, I did half then showed my (adult) kids, I was so impressed (well it was during lockdown, we had to make our own entertainment )
If I could give it 10 stars I would, and if you’re struggling to choose between Vax or anything else, get this!
Edit: I have 2 pups and have to clean the carpets regularly, so last time I them I remembered to take photos just to show how good it is and how much dirt it lifts, note, I clean my carpets regularly, I hope these show how good it is.
I used it first time without hot water and ran it up and down like a vacuum cleaner. Def needs warmer water and slow and steady. The attachment tools are great. I used the stair attachments to get right into the skirting boards – with 2 dogs could never get these cleaned quite enough. Lifted the hairs as well as cleaning brilliantly and bringing back lift to the carpet.
I bought this for a deep clean of our rented flats carpets.after two and a half years of my work boots, daily life taking its toll, and our cat back and forth,it was time for a deep clean.over a couple of days I gradually washed each rooms carpet.when my partner came home…she was impressed with the results.the machine was easy to use.on deep clean it uses considerably more water,so many empties and refills are required, depending on the state of your carpets of course.express clean uses less water, which is ideal if cleaned on a regular basis. You can literally see it sucking up the dirty water out of the carpet.not used it on any soft furnishings yet,but highly recommend this product.expensive ,but worth it.
I’ve had VAX over the years. I did some research and this is the best by far I have ever had. It came at a price but so worth it. Easy to use, glides easily, spot spray handy, easy to assemble and cleans really deep. Nice wide base covers a big area. Noisy but I think most are! Might be a little heavy than cheaper models. Very happy with purchase.
Bought this machine as a replacement for my old 2008 Bissell carpet cleaner which had performed very well for many years but now the rubber seals had gone. I had cleaned some carpets with this old one before it packed up on me so next day delivery for the replacement was excellent. I re cleaned some of the carpets with the new one and it pulled out quite a bit of dirt the old one had missed. The machine is quite light compared to the old one and filling and emptying the tanks is really simple. It is also very easy to take to pieces to clean ( the old one was a nightmare).I have tried it today on an ivory carpet which has dirty track marks across it on the high traffic areas going from one door to the other. One tank of water and formula almost completed a 15 sq ft room on ‘deep clean’. It has dried within 3 hours and I have just vacuumed it. Excellent results on most of the carpet but the dirty track marks are still there, although significantly diminished. I have blame the quality of the shampoo rather than the Bissell for this as I could see lots of dirt being sucked up by the machine. I tried the cleaner on another carpet at the top of the stairs and it has cleaned this thoroughly, no dirty track marks at all. I suspect the ivory carpet is going to be a bit of a challenge so I might re do some of the heavily soiled areas again. With the ease of use and maintenance, I would thoroughly recommend this product.
I’ve used vax, hoover and rug doctor cleaners for years. After hiring a rug doctor a few months back I decided that next time the carpet needs cleaning I would just replace it. We have had 2 kids and 2 dogs over the last few years and the carpet was starting to look shabby. You really noticed the difference when you moved the rug from the front of the log burner.
OK so you get the idea. Like you we try to keep our carpet clean but life takes its toll.
I decided before I bought the new carpet Id buy a nice lightweight carpet cleaner so that it would be more like to be cleaned regularly rather than needing deep clean every time it got too bad.
Read the reviews and took a punt on an amazon warehouse deal.
From the get go this felt like a well designed and well built machine. Cleaver accessories. Neat size. Powerful suction and easy to switch between a quick freshen up or a ultra deep clean.
I thought for practice I’d have a go at the old carpet before we replaced it. So glad I did. It took a good few tanks of water but by the time I’d finished the carpet looked half it’s age. I wont exaggerate, an 8 year old carpet will never look brand new, but wow. What a difference!
So thrilled with my results I did 3 bedrooms and the stairs and landing the following day.
I did even have cause to use the special jet spray function for stubborn stains. It’s a wee bit gimmicky, but if you are just freshening up a carpet and a small area needs a bit more attention it really does help.
Obviously time will be required to assess durability and long-term performance but initial impressions are all excellent.
I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to keep their home fresh and clean without having to replace their carpets every 5 years.
My first “wet” carpet cleaner. I was amazed at how much dirt the cleaner removed. Toss up between this and an alternative rival brand. I think the other make has better tools. The carpets took about 2 days to dry completely, but I could walk on them (in bare feet) straight away. Tip – clean the edge first, then you are not walking on the newly cleaned main part. Very pleased.
I like the Bissel ProHeat Revolution Pet Pro Upright Carpet Cleaner as, though the noise level is high, the cleaning properties are extremely good. After-use cleaning is far better and much more straightforward and less time consuming than with the Vax Dual Power model that I returned having failed to clean it out thoroughly – leaving fluff in inaccessible places within the suction head. Have only tried carpet cleaner and the stairs cleaning accessory as yet as we do not have pets – bought this model for the additional accessories and improved facilities of access when cleaning brushes and suction head after use. So… noisy but thorough cleaning action – good guarantee too! Only reduced star rating for ease of use to four as it is on the heavy side to carry up and down stairs!
I bought this to replace a vax model which had died on my. I was concerned at the price, almost double that of my previous machine, but WOW it really is worth it. It took a while to work out what goes where, and how to operate it as the instructions are only in pictures- a written explanation really would help. I decided to try it on the 16 year old hallway carpet and the difference is noticeable. The pile is lifted and the colour is much improved, more so than I had expected. Unlike the previous cleaner this one got into the edges with no need to use any gadgets. The carpet was left damp- too damp for socks, but not wet, after using the deep cleaning option. And for the first time in many years it smells fresh again. Yes it is a bit heavy, but not unduly so, and yes, it really is noisy. But a winner in my book. Give it a go.
I have always purchased VAX machines but decided to try out this machine.
This machine was heavier the I expected but the cleaning speed and ease of cleaning the machine after was superb. Not a cheap machine but I think it was worth the extra expense. As I said cleaning of the machine after use was much easier than the VAX which to do properly involved unscrewing parts of the machine where as this machine simply unclips. Rinse under the tap and clips back together.
This is a great tool and not too heavy. I am sure that I have not learnt all it is capable of yet but am well pleased with what I have managed so far! Importantly for me it does not leave carpets soaking wet or taking hours to dry and you can see the results as you go. really pleased that I invested.
all these one star reviews are braindead people complaining about the suction being hairy and bad.
Also it says keep the carpet cleaner upright position. as it’ll leak water if you’re holding it too lean back.
After using make sure you always troubleshoot your carpet cleaner from debris and black junk that gets swooped up from the carpet.
make sure to watch online tutorials and demonstration videos on using this carpet cleaner as it’s the best carpet cleaner on the market. And highly recommend.. If you know what you’re doing.
Last week I cleaned our carpets with our old Vax carpet cleaner. I was having difficulty with the on/off switch, so realised it was time to start looking for a new machine. Having read many reviews I opted for the Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution. As one of our animals was sick on our hall carpet the day after I had cleaned the carpets last week, I went ahead with the purchase of the Bissell and set to work on the hall carpet. Not only did it remove the sick stain totally, but the amount of dirty water from the rest of the carpet made me decide to clean the other carpets again too. Once again, the dirt in the collection tank was significant. Clearly this machine does a far better job than our Vax ever did.
The thing that I also really like about the Bissell is that it can be properly cleaned after use, which I never managed with the Vax, however much I tried. Not only do Bissell supply a small flexible tool to remove debris from the suction spout, which works brilliantly (especially if you have long haired animals leaving fur deposits in the carpet pile), but also the waste water tank has a ring at the bottom that can be unscrewed so that the whole of the mechanism inside can be removed and the the tank and floats properly cleaned and dried.
I am really delighted with this purchase, and feel it does a far better job than the old Vax.
This is a really great carpet shampooed and sucks the carpets really dry. It is very easy to set up and use and you get a handy drawstring bag to keep all the tools in. The only downside is that I have yet to find a shampoo that genuinely removes the smell and stain from dog pee. However, that is not the fault of the machine.
so i am a very keen VAX customer and have always bought there hoovers, so i tired the carpet washer platinum and it was terrible. so i decided to buy this bissell instead and what can i say its amazing, really easy to put together and start washing those floors/carpets.
So i have 3 kids form 1 to 7 and between them they make all sorts of stains from ketchup to beans and even me with spilling tea, because they left a brick lying around. the bissell handled it all in its stride and was not fussed, so i went deeper and found some tricky stains like dried in goo that was rock solid and even went to tackle my wife’s make up stains (i know brave man).
The result are in………..FANTASTIC! dried in goo came right up after a few passes and hand tool action, my wife’s make up thats where we started to struggle so i spent about 30 minuets on my hands and knees and now looks like new again.
so if you are thinking is this right for me then YES ! it is get it now and be amazed have nice clean floors again.
thanks for reading
Very impressed. Last time my carpets were cleaned professionally five years ago we live in a farmhouse with three dogs, one cat and two teenage boys, Needless to say they were pretty grim! It took a few passes to get the hang of it but I managed to do a large dining room/family room and finish off with the spot tool within completed within an hour and I must say I’m very very impressed. We used the pet solution and it worked really well, it has a light but pleasant fragrance and It managed to Clean several spots of Black oil/grease and various other unknown stains. I am absolutely over the moon with it. I’m a great believer in you get what you pay for and I’m very pleased I paid a little extra but got a machine that was up to the job.
Having 4 dogs who run riot I didn’t exactly have high expectations- but I am impressed. My carpet looks almost new – 95% of the stains from my rescue dogs In the last 3 years have gone and there is new life in the pile in my carpet . Use water as hot as you can – and for drying go over and over the carpet . Then use a normal hoover . An hour and it’s pretty much dry . I used bissell carpet cleaner for pets . It works .
The assembly is pretty easy with the picture guidance, but the are is no worded help for clarification. This would have been more helpful with the user guide and instructions on how to clean it. This and the somewhat ridiculously small bottles of cleaning solution, given how much you are advised to use each time, you get are the only negatives. It cleans and works beautifully. I blind tested my wife and only did some areas and asked her to tell me where I had done and she named all the areas first time so need I say more. We have two cats and we didn’t realise how much fur had gotten in to the carpet until we poured out the dirty water and were left with the evidence.
It’s a great piece of kit and we could see the benefits of using it and will continue to use it often and would strongly recommend it to someone who had pets in order to keep the carpets and sofas clean of fu
Having never heard of Bissell I was somewhat reluctant to change brand, but the reviews won me over. Boy am I glad they did!
I’m amazed. It completely outclasses the Vax. The photos show just how much grime the Vax left behind that the Bissell has picked up.
For anyone that’s new to carpet cleaners, don’t expect professional-grade results. Those machines cost thousands and often have a separate, vehicle mounted pump. This is the best household variant I’ve seen.
Cons:
* Smaller water tank (managed a full room on Ultra Mode though).
* Very noisy (much louder than the Vax).
* Struggled to find the power button on first use (mostly my fault!).
Pros:
* The small tank means it’s much lighter.
* The suction / cleaning power is incredible.
* So much easier to clean.
* The range of attachments to comes with is amazing.
* The free shampoo smells lovely.
In summary, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.
I went over the areas I had already covered with the VAX and got a bucket of black water. Shows how bad the VAX is. The results are visibly better with the Bissell.
After reading many reviews I settled on this model and it was the best decision I have made on a carpet cleaner.
Easy to assemble and the cleaning power is the best I have seen yet. Even on what I thought was a clean(ish) carpet resulted in a tank full of black water.
Excellent product.
Love it I had a vax but didn’t wash the carpet has good as this one and it comes with very handy tools for the stairs, could do with more power in the suction but just go over the part you wash slowly and a couple of times to get any excess water carpet dry around a hour but does depend on the thickness of the carpe
Don’t know how I ever got on before this machine.. By far one of the best investments I’ve made.. Cleans the carpets and rugs so good and even the toughest spots with the attachments you can scrub out with a little elbow grease. Find it super easy to clean after use simple to put together. Only flaw is the noise this thing creates as it is really loud. Still worthy the results just stick some head phones on while you use it .
I cleaned a woollen carpet 4 metres by 4 metres and it took three fills of the water/liquid mixture. The machine is noisy and slightly heavy. I used the turbo Max program as my carpets needed a thorough clean. As the carpet was a high wool mix it took a while to dry but I had the windows open so after a few hours it was fine. When I had finished cleaning, it took a while to clean the bits of carpet that were sucked up, mainly because of the lack of instructions on how to clean the machine. There is a long thin grey tool and I found the hammer looking side easier to reach the fluff in the base. Now I have used it once and cleaned it up, it will be a lot easier next time. All important, the carpets look very clean so very pleased. I will try the upstairs carpets which aren’t wool, next.
My son had his carpets professionally cleaned at 80per room. I went over the same carpets with my Bissell within a few weeks and the water in the tank was pretty murky… we were both surprised particularly as they are low use bedroom carpets that had been covered with rugs after the earlier deepclean!
In fairness the more expensive machines are great for large areas, and with larger tanks will need far less frequent filling/emptying of tanks.
I have cleaned the equivalent of 3 houses worth of carpets so far, so compared to paying someone else to do it, I believe it has more than paid for itself.
Bought on a Black Friday deal.
This is a very good piece of kit. Very simple to set up and use. Pictogram style instruction cards seemed, at first, a tad demeaning. However, once one is underway, I began to see that they’re a pretty good idea!
A little tricky to figure out how to take apart for cleaning – and a couple of places that are not so easy to get to. But- wow -what a difference this machine makes!
So much trapped dirt washed out! Having a dog probably contributes towards this a lot – especially seeing the amount of dog hair washed out of the fibres -even given that we vacuum with an ‘animal head’ Miele. Happily the carpets are not too damp afterwards – even if using the ‘Extreme Clean’ setting. Of course, the sample bottles of solutions included don’t go very far, but there are quite a few other (and cheaper) options for those both here on Amazon and elsewhere.
I had a Vax machine which was problematic.
I decided to swap it out for the Bissell and the Bissell machine is performing well.
The only slight concern is that there does not appear to be as much suction as the Vax and hence drying times are increased.
That having been said, the machine is easy to assemble and just as easy to use.
I was really pleased with how well this dealt with Dog hairs and the inevitable soil and dust that dogs shed after their walks. It is very to clean. I was alarmed when the motor suddenly went up in pitch and thought that something had jammed somewhere. It was only later that I discovered this is a warning that the dirty water container needs emptying. It ceases to suck any more water when this occurs. The only downside is that it is heavier than I anticipated.
This carpet cleaner works well & is relatively easy to use IF you look up how to use it on YouTube, the instructions are not easy to follow especially if you have not had any previous experience with carpet cleaners.
Once I had watched the demonstrations on YouTube & got the hang of using it I found it did the job very well. I have a large hairy dog with a greasy coat & it dealt with the marks he leaves behind & freshens up the carpet really well.
Overall I am very pleased with this machine but not impressed with the instructions.
I’d considered purchasing this carpet cleaner for a while now, and I absolutely do not regret it, I cleaned my carpet for the first time in years and it has completely lifted up and renewed the carpet, honestly the results were not as effective as I thought they would be after just one wash, but after using the machine approx 4 times over a period of a few weeks, using the deep clean function, it has totally renewed my carpets
The supplied manual is a bit useless not very detailed or clear. But not complicated to use. Also the handle can’t be folded down very easily it needs to be removed by removing a screw. As this is something your not going to be using every day you want it to be stored away without taking up much room. Last downside is the brush head. It would good if that just removed easily as this get clogged up with carpet fluff. They do supply a tool to remove it. But would be so much better if you could remove it quickly and just wash it.
This thing is very loud. Very loud. There is no way to escape how loud this thing is.
– easy to refill water and shampoo.
– easy to discharge unclean water.
– very very very noisy, I have to put ear muffs when using it.
– because of its shape, it is difficult to clean floor edges.
– if you use deep or max cleaning, it will need a long time to dry.
Extremely effective and does what it claims to do. It’s very heavy when full of water and not particularly easy to manoeuvre at that point. Watch out for the nozzle on the dirty water receiving tank getting blocked with hair and fluff. Dirty water then leaks out and stains the carpet. 🙁
To outline, I have now been living in my house for 8 years and have not cleaned the carpets other than minor spot cleaning which left spots of clean areas throughout the house. There has therefore been 8 years worth of dirt accumulated on the carpets, particularly the living room where my 2 children eat and drink on occasions and spillages are frequent. There was hugely noticeable darkening of the living room carpet and high traffic areas including landings and stairs.
After use of the carpet cleaner I can honestly and openly say that it has removed above 99% of all visual dirt and stains, bringing my carpets back to life as if new. The oxy solution which I used was fantastic and the odour is leaves behind in the carpets personally I feel is clean and fresh!! I used the oxy solution in conjunction with Bissell Pre-treat spray which appeared to have a profound impact on tougher stains.
What I would say to anyone buying this product is to take your time when cleaning your carpets and ensure you cover each area more than once until you get the desired effect. Do not expect to use the product the same as a normal hoover and at the same speed. Cleaning with this machine is more time consuming but the results are worth the added time spent.
The added bonus for me buying the product with Amazon is that I am now paying 38 per month over 5 months as opposed to a lump sum of 189.99. This made the purchase an even easier decision and is a more affordable option.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This is just as good as professional cleaning and worth buying seen as you will pay more for your carpets to be professionally cleaned than you would for this alone. Yet of course this you only have to buy once. My carpets downstairs are extremely old and where badly stained between the previous tenants, the decorator who was constantly in and out of my home with dirty boots on and then my daughter spilling things. The only downside I can say is that it is heavy especially filled with water obviously bit kind of to be expected. I have ehlers danlos syndrome also so others may be a lot more sensitive to it especially as I have dyson cordless. The suction on this is amazing, I did carpets upstairs that are new and despite hoovering before doing so it still pulled up a lot of dust from them. Bissels cleaning products on their own are amazing with this even more so. The oxy boost especially. That will get out any stain on it’s own let alone added to the machine. The picture above is as said both extremely old and new stains. The picture was taken after only going over it just once, the second time it come out even better. The dirty water tank makes you cringe, as above I cleaned the new carpets upstairs and even the colour of the water from that was horrible despite looking clean. It’s worked on all kinds of stains and marks both known and unknown. The quick function is great and even the deep clean function doesn’t leave the carpets that wet . This is also a good buy for those with allergies and asthma, my daughter suffers from breathing issues constant airway infections and also needs inhalers, nebuliser and prednisone often but cleaning the carpets has helped a a lot with her symptoms. I will add more photos after the next time I use it as I forgot to take the photos of the other carpets. It actually becomes extremely addictive to do once you start cleaning.
There is a 6 year warranty with this cleaner which can can only be applied for online via the Bissell Uk web site where you will find the phone number to call their consumer care team and this is where we had issues the so called care team could not get our e-mail address and surname spelling correct even after 3 separate phone call attempts including 1 which involved the Amazon customer support team themselves it took extended periods of waiting time in all calls before someone actually answered the phone and we still have no verification of an extended warranty period.
So to summarise if you want a first class carpet cleaner which does exactly what it claims to do is easy to assemble and use when cleaning your carpets but has a pathetic customer care team then buy this item.
I’ve tried the tools and they did a reasonable job on the heavy, dried-in stains (after 2 or 3 goes you can only just see where the marks were – and only because we were looking for them … that’s what you get for leaving it for 7 / 10 years between cleans). The ‘clean shot’ pre-treater seems like a gimmick, I was expecting some concentrated cleaner to come out but it’s just the same shampoo solution that’s in the clean shampoo tank – might as well just use the main jets between the rollers of the cleaner. Easy to refill the clean shampoo tank and to empty the dirty tank and the cleaner comes apart allowing easy access for cleaning after use. Overall quite satisfied with the performance – it’s certainly put some ‘life’ back into our carpets.
So much better than my vax used to be, made easy work of a very dirty office carpet, and I’ve cleaned a squashy easy chair and my dining room chair pads (which used to be white and now are again) with excellent results.
Pet upholstery tool was great for the dog’s chair. Haven’t tried the stair tool yet but it looks brilliant.
Much, much easier to clean than the vax as well. So glad I bought it.
The only thing that really irked me was that the front cover keeps popping up whenever it comes near to a solid object, not too much of a problem just an inconvenience.
It is well worth the money that I spent. I would recommend this machine, expensive yes, but why waste your money on a lesser machine.
I stupidly replaced it with a VAX W90-RU-P which was an awful machine (my girlfriend has one also, and hates it) that would clean for about 5 minutes, then get noisier and start spitting foam out from the base and sides (hers does the same). When funds were available, I decided to get this Bissell to replace the VAX.
In my limited experience all machines of this nature are noisy and bulky (the weight increase when adding water/cleaner to the tank is inevitable) but this Bissell performs amazingly well. The hose attachments are easy to fit and seem robust. The cleaning performance is commendable and, as a bonus it keeps the water at an optimum temperature for stain breakdown and removal.
When buying it was a toss up between this and a Rug Doctor machine, but I am happy with my choice.
Assembly – not exactly difficult (only 4 things to do), but needs a screwdriver to screw in the holding handle at the back (if you want to carry it around, which you will from time to time) – the holding handle doubles as one side of the cord hold.
Filling & emptying – Easy to fil with water and solution. Easy to empty the second tank when it gets full. When you’ve run out of water, the hoover starts to get noisier, which is useful. The containers for water are also fairly well made, so that you can acutally empty them fully. The dynamics inside are just well thought out.
Cleaning – I had a couple of areas of ground dirt in my carpets, and really I didn’t know they were that dirty overall, but it’s pulled up all sorts from the carpets and now smells a bit like wet dog, so maybe the previous owners had a dog. Yeah, not ideal, but that tells me how good this machine is, as Rug Doctor never deep cleaned this well. The ground dirt is all but gone, but will probably need another clean – it was quite extreme though. I think all the other stains on my cream carpets (yeah, I know) have gone.
Noise – yes, it’s a bit noiser than my hoover, but I think thats because of the power of it. It’s certainly not extreme or intolerable.
Overall – I’m pretty happy I settled for this model, although I was a bit wary of the price tag of 250, but the quality of the clean and the ease of use make me think it’s value for money and I will no longer need to lug one of those Rug Doctor’s from Tesco and try to perform a 3-point turn with it – this carpet cleaner is closer to slightly heavier upright cleaner and pretty easy to manouvre.
I used the clean and protect pro solution – pricey but totally worth it!
Teenager bedroom carpet now clean and fresh. Result. Next up, the stairs.
Top tip – if it’s the first deep clean your carpets have had in a little while, don’t look too closely at the dirty water tank as you empty it.
I live with 11 rescue rabbits, 0ne of them was very sick before I adopted him so he often pees on the carpet, this is a side effect from his often fatal illness, the others all use their litter trays. I bought this especially because of him, there is no way I was going to confine him to a small area, he had a hard enough life in the past so deserves to live out his remaining years in luxury.
Before I ordered this I purchased a Vax but that left the carpet so wet that when it did dry it smelled like a damp mouldy rag so I returned it. This cleaner was so much better initially but after several uses the wheels started to loosen causing negative camber resulting in the suction head not making contact with the carpet so it didn’t suck the water out as it should. It looked like a “stanced car” (Google images of one if you don’t know what I mean) I contacted Amazon who instantly offered a refund, I wanted an exchange because I like the product but they don’t have any for sale at the time of writing this. I wondered if this was a known fault and that was why it was no longer stocked.
I checked the Bissell website for an alternative or updated model and spotted they are selling this model, I phoned to ask if it was a known fault and I would be likely to have the same problem in the future if I bought one. I was told it was a fault with a batch but they have made changes to the wheel fitment so it shouldn’t happen to future models, Bissell themselves had been out of stock for some time while this issue was sorted.
I almost forgot to add how easy it is to clean the brushes and suction head after use, to me it’s important to put it away clean rather than covered in filth sucked up out of the carpet, the Vax I had in the past was near impossible to clean after use.
You will not regret buying this, it’s fantastic apart from the fault with a certain batch, all future models have this issue fixed, it also has a 5 or 6 year warranty so the company stands by you if you get a problem. I have now ordered one direct from Bissell as Amazon don’t have stock
I used it to clean the carpet in my hall and bedroom, it worked so well that i had to re-adjust my vacuum cleaner because it re-lifted the pile on the carpets, one thing i did notice tho is that you have to make sure to close the dirty water tank properly after emptying or the machine doesnt cut off at the full point, other than that minor detail i really like it and it was money well spent.
Cleans very well and pulls lots of dirt from the carpet (surprising amounts) but does need refilling very often. Our living room is only around 150sq ft but requires three refills for a thorough clean.
Had a Vax Dual Power and this is far more powerful.
The machine itself is sturdy & well designed plus easy to clean as there is a cleaning tool supplied for the fiddly places. Well worth the price paid and by far the easiest machine to use with the best result.
Does an excellent job of cleaning the carpets which I need to do fairly regularly as we live in the country and have 2 Labradors who seem to attract mud! It’s by far the better cleaner that I have owned and is enhanced by the fact that it is so easily cleaned unlike some of my previous ones. This is important when you have 2 Labs that apparently don’t shed hair but give off fibres of love! well trust me they give off acres of the stuff. Reasonably easy to clean the stairs too with the attachment. More than happy with the purchase.
I am very pleased with the carpet cleaner. Please look at the video if you want to see what it comes with and how it operates. The attachments are great and I also decided to clean a sofa with them. The sofa looked brilliant when I had finished it. The carpet cleaner is very easy to use. It is fairly light weight and is very good at what it does. There are three free shampoo and solution samples to try with the machine, so you can get cleaning straight out of the box. A small amount of assembly is required, but this is fairly simple.
I think that this carpet cleaner is brilliant and I am already looking around for other things to clean with it. I cleaned my suede slippers with the tough stain tool and they came up like new too. I know that this is an expensive machine, but it will pay for itself very quickly if you use it regularly. I love it.
It is easy to assemble and easy to use. Very effective on dried in stains although you cannot clean the edges of rugs due to the rollers.
All in all a very effective cleaner, and when you see the dirt that comes out of the carpet -wow!
I found it to be excellent. My previous Carpet Cleaner (different manufacturer) did very well considering I had used it as a re-conditioned machine for about 5 years. However it started to throw out water and appeared not to clean the carpet as expected.
This BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Carpet Cleaner on it’s first try performed excellently. The carpets were very clean after use. Certainly the clean water tank may not be the largest one on the market. This means re-fills may be fairly frequent, but I do not see this as a fault.
I would rather have a cleaner that cleans the carpets excellently rather than one with a large clean water tank but a less efficient cleaner.
This is not the cheapest carpet cleaner on the market, but for me I think to date it is well worth the cost.
In addition it provides an excellent handy set of tools for cleaning furnishings but I found extremely useful the simple to very effective tool for removing the fluff from the base section of the machine.
Finally I would thoroughly recommend this Carpet Cleaner.
Best carpet cleaner I’ve purchased. Furthermore; 1) the handheld add-on is great to use 2) the main cleaner isn’t very tall, thus, you can swing under low furniture with ease.
Update: 29/Feb/2020. Originally reviewed in 2019, but thought it’s worth updating as it’s long term use that really matters from a review, right?
Still using it, still love it. Forgot to mention previously, but the cleaning tools are good that come with this, helping to get in to crevices of the machine that with others I’ve used in past, too hard to get in to thus lowering the performance. This machine? Still as good as first day.
