I’ve recently been having a bit of a clear out and finally got around to shredding the last 15 years of un-needed bank statements and other redundant paperwork! I had a cheap shredder that would overheat after a few mins which that I wouldn’t effectively be able to shred-as-I-sort as it would stop working after a relatively small batch of shredding. It also couldn’t handle more than a few sheets at a time, which meant removing everything from envelopes. So I decided to upgrade.
After checking around a bit, I came across this shredder which had the right balance of size, cost and shredding time. I’ve been delighted with it! It fits neatly under my desk without taking up too much room and, so far, hasn’t overheated while I’ve been doing my sorting, though the fan has kicked in (which is a good thing)! Very glad I bought it! It’s not the quietest, but not really that loud as shredders go and it munches through envelopes with old bills with relative ease so it suits me down to the ground.
Whilst I rarely will shred documents with the maximum number of pages the shredder can handle, knowing it can shred more means it is less likely to get jammed and likely to have a longer run time before over heating.
I have had cheaper units from a well known high street stationary company which eventually burned out, so this time I went for a heavier duty unit to ensure it lasts longer.
The slide-in containing for catching the shredded paper is an improvement on the cheaper types where you have to lift off the shredder from the bin, which invariably results in cut paper being deposited on the floor and a vacuuming of the floor required afterwards. The slide-in/out bin doesn’t eliminate that completely, but perhaps I will get better at pulling the bin out and avoid dropping cut paper.
I have used it once for a fairly heavy session of dozens of documents and it coped well.
Although I shred all correspondence as a matter of course, I do have a tendency to let them pile up and then do a mass shredding. Cheap shredders don’t like this. A lot of them only have a 5-minute run time before they need to cool down. This can be so frustrating when you just want to get the job done.
This one from Bonsaii is a little bit more expensive but it claims a 30-minute run time. To be honest I was sceptical. So, I was presently surprised to see that the claimed run time was actually an understatement. I used it for well over an hour and shredded five carrier bags stuffed with correspondence without the unit overheating.
The reason it has such a long run time is that it incorporates a cooling fan at the rear of the unit. A simple solution to getting rid of excess heat. The claimed 14-sheet capacity is pretty accurate depending on the thickness of the paper. It’s very rare to hear the motor struggling even a little bit. It’s a hungry little monster. It also claims to take staples and paper-clips. To be honest, I haven’t tried any paper-clips but I have shredded a lot of stapled documents. This saves a lot of time.
Even after shredding five bags of correspondence, I have yet to get a paper jam. It has the usual reverse mode if you do get one but I haven’t needed it. The main thing is to keep an eye on the storage bin and empty it before it gets too full. It’s a pull-out bin which makes emptying a breeze. Our local council lets you put shredded paper in the garden waste bin which is great. I have no concerns about anyone being able to piece together the shredded paper. I would say it’s on the verge of impossibility.
Overall, it’s worth paying the little extra for this shredder. Hope that helps.
This shredder does exactly what I bought it for, to destroy pieces of paper by turning it into little bits (X-cutter).
Very large capacity bin with a clear window in it makes it so much less messy than other brands where you have to pull the bin out to see if it’s full, scattering bits all over the floor.
Even though the PCB board which controls the on/off and auto switch packed up after 9 months of very little use, I have still given the product 5 stars because the manufacturers, Bonsaii.com were outstanding! They replied within 24 hours, and sent me a replacement within 48 hours.
Good shredder, solidly made, quiet. We were confused at first as we had to lift the lid on our previous shredder, but we couldn’t get the lid off this one, then my husband realised that the box pulled out from the front, but there were no instructions to this effect. We have used it for 6 months now and have no complaints.

This is so much better than cheaper shredders that I’ve bought in the past – in terms of capacity and reliability. It doesn’t seem to overheat or stick. Plenty of room for lots of shredding in the box. It’s quite big, so make sure you’ve got space for it.
I was in need of something more effective than my previous shredder and this one has been perfect. It has a large box for catching the shredded documents, which is easy to remove in order to empty. You can put a large number of sheets in at any one time and there are no issues. A nice simple to use design, that is also not ugly on the eye.
Easily keeps going for half an hour at a time.

Cons
Does not sense when basket is full (has a sensor but doesn’t work). Kept shredding until it absolutely could not force any more in at which point there was a noise and a little smoke. Messy and tricky to empty when so full, and had to spend a while removing the paper crushed up into the blades. However worked fine again once cleaned and oiled and hav had no further problems now that I keep an eye on how full it is getting.
Does fill quite quickly due to compact size.
Bin is tricky to pull out.
Does require oiling every 3-4 emptyings.

Would recommend this shredder. Does the job well so long as care is taken not to overfill. Less noise, less of a struggle, and faster than smaller shredders I have had in the past, so definitely worth the extra money. Pleased with the purchase
We bought this for use at home and initially I had to put it through its paces as I had a log of shredding which needed doing. The shredder coped really well and I like the way it cools it self down with its fan when it starts to get a little hot. The way it shreads means that it can get a lot of paper in its bin so doesn’t need changing too often, and although it is quite heavy to move about, it is straightforward to pick up. Definitely quieter than my previous shredder and suits and it’s fine.
his is great for high-volume shredding, it really does eat 14 sheets of A4 at a time with little effort.
The device needs to have the shredder tines lubricated after every 6 full baskets of shredding so getting an appropriate non-flammable lubricant is important.

Shredding made easy, and cuts paper with no problem. Cuts plastic cards too, but be careful when you insert them as the unit could jam. Recommend to purchase shredding lubricating oil and to use frequently, as stated in the instructions.
Wow this is brilliant it works well I’m able to get rid of unwanted letters etc very quickly.
It’s not loud and sheds paper into small pieces very easily several sheets at time I got rid of alot papers.
I have had other paper shredders and broken very quickly and easily did not live up to the job.
I have it a few weeks now and it’s good value for money though I do think it’s a bit expensive could be a bit cheaper but I’m delighted with the function.

So far this item has been faultless, I have moved houses mant times over the years and accumulated a mass of paper that required shredding. I bought this and put it to good use generating eight bags of shredded paper, the only downside was emptying the bin, but I was doing a large amount. I would recommend this item, it’s been excellent so far.
This is a replacement for an old, different make shredder which is no longer up to the job. It’s brilliant. It shredded as much in 30 minutes as the old one would have done in a day with its constant cutting out. It happily takes a number of sheets without jamming. I like that the waste box is accessed from the front so the main body stays intact and there is no need to lift off the cutting blades to get at the waste (it’s not possible anyway). Wish I’d got it ages ago
Got fed up with old shredder that only took 2 sheets of paper at a time and invested in this one. So glad I did! Powered through 4 carrier bags of paperwork in no time and we’ve kept on top of our shredding ever since. Easy to use, hasn’t clogged or got stuck once. I recommend this shedder.
As described and DOES THE JOB VERY WELL, although I think scanning 14 sheets in one go a little ‘optimistic’ (this would make it grunt a bit). Nevertheless it’s a very capable machine and I’m delighted with it. I’ve been shredding hundreds of pages, so far it has coped well and the cooling fan helps ensure it doesn’t overheat. Impressively engineered.
One slight criticism is that the waste bin is rather flimsy and not easy to remove when full of shredding, or replace when empty – it flexes all over the place.
I got fed up with shredders stopping every 5 minites or struggling with 3 sheets of paper, so I invested in a more expensive one.

Tired of cheap, flimsy shredders that overheat, jam and generally under-perform, we decided to pay a bit more and go for this Bonsaii shredder. We have not been disappointed. It munches its way through the paper (and staples) and so far not a jam, not an overheat. In fact nothing untowards. Bliss! It really is a robust piece of kit that shreds up to 14 sheets at a time and most importantly will operate for up to 30 minutes without overheating. It’s quite presentable, compact and it is easy to see how full the bin is of shredded paper. The annual office/study spring clean will never be quite the same.
I have had many cheap shredders that struggled to shred 5 or more sheets and overheat and stop after 10 mins. This is a class above those and performs faultlessly for easy 20mins. The fan kicks in after 15 mins. Shreds about 10 sheets, although not counted them, but performs well. It is a bit more expensive but you pay for quality. Very quiet to use and rather than having to lift the shredder off top of a bucket and spill the contents everywhere, this has an easy to remove bin that slides out. Fabulous

I shred a LOT of paper and I bought this shredder specifically because it can run continuously for 30 minutes, I’ve not used it for that long yet – probably only or 15/20 minutes continuously – but what a joy that it doesn’t overheat after 5 mins! A bit more expensive than a basic model (that I fell into the trap of buying before this one!) but worth it. Great for people working at home who need something more than a basic model.
I was looking for a shredder that would look good in a home office, sit nicely under a desk and most importantly, shred more than 3 pieces of paper at a time for 5 minutes without it overheating.
This shredder exceeds my shredding expectations, I’ve yet to make it stop due to over heating and its yet to even jam.
Previously we had two shredders. Both were under 90. They would overheat after shredding a few sheets, and they were noisy. Five minutes of shredding, it would overheat. We got tired of waiting for it to cool down after every use. Neither of them were able to keep up with our workflow. We ended up with a big pile of paperwork that needed shredding, but with no shredder up to the task. We needed a new one with a bigger capacity, what stopped us was the price. Was it worth getting a more expensive one?
The answer is yes! This shredder is worth every penny.
This new Bonsai shredder is perfect!
And here’s why:
– It can shred continously for half an like it says.
– It is quieter compared to the other two we had.
– It’s easy to use. Insert paper and shred. No more than 14 sheets at a time which is fine.
– It has a fan cooling system inside.
– The oiling makes it more effective.
So far so good. Just make sure you oil it after every few shred loads. I recommend for office. This is an Office Manager’s new favourite tool. ^_^
I had ordered a shredder on Amazon to replace one that we had at home for over 10 years. The one we had was not a budget one, but when it broke, I thought “how different can they be”, so I bought a 40 shredder.
How wrong was I? It was painfully slow and had to stop to cool down every few minutes. Then I started to get a burning smell from it, so it was sent back and a full refund was issued from Amazon.
So I bought this brilliant shredder. It handles heavy duty use very well due to the cooling system and it proves you do get what you pay for.
So far so good. I have used it heavily for the past few days and it has performed faultlessly. The only thing I might say negatively is that it would be perfect if it had castors. But this is no big deal.
I would highly recommend it.
The shredder was purchased for home office and confidential document shredding. It has proved easy to use and efficient. It has coped effortlessly with these tasks
and hasn’t been required to shred staples, clips, cards or cd’s. I cant remember if it’s meant to do that but it’s bound to last longer if you take a little care.
Overall, very satisfied after a month or so use well within the specification parameters.

Having to replace my old shredder, I found out that many of the new shredders only operate for a few minutes and then you have to stop so they don’t overheat, As mine is used for a home business that was not efficient. The Bonsai has its own cooling built in so you can shred for longer. So far it seems to work very well and I would recommend.

My old Shredder needed changing so when I saw this advertised with up to 30 minute shredding time it was just what I needed. It has proved to be exactly what I was looking for & whilst I have not used for the full 30 mins. it has been used for long periods successfully. Delivered on time & is well packaged.
This was my second Bonsaii shredder, the first one was the 12 page home/office type and only lasted a day and a half, this one is much more robust. Only fault is the feed slot could have done with being wider or slanted as it’s only a straight slot across the top and can be awkward to feed the paper in. So far I’ve not had it stop to do a cool down which is a massive bonus when your shredding pape

Contacted the seller and after checking a few details, they arranged for a new shredder to be delivered – all within a week. Excellent service and, hopefully, this shredder will last much longer. Can’t fault this machine. I have had a lot and I mean a LOT of shredding recently. This handles 14 sheets easily and it goes constantly for a full 30 minutes- not like the last one I had which kept cutting out every 5 minutes. I love the fan that kicks in to keep everything cool. I had originally purchased this product back in September 2018. It worked perfectly well for several months but then developed a mechanical fault. I was extremely impressed with the customer service after I reported this issue. After I described the problem, I was promptly provided with a replacement at no expense to me. I was very impressed.
I love this shredder, so much better than my old one, happily shreds 10 sheets of a4 paper in one go and keeps going a long time…my old one only lasted 2 minutes before it went into cooldown ….now I get all my shredding done in one go. The drawer for the shredded paper is also really good..no more having to take the top off my old shredder to empty the container and get bits of paper everywhere..just pull out the drawer and take straight to recycling bin..no mess.
Shredder will not turn on anymore, hardly used and stopped working after just over one month. Supplier and manufacturer impossible to reach and ignoring all email communications. The supplier got in touch and was very apologetic, the shredder was replaced and sent out within 2 days. We have been using it and so far everything is working well. Thank you

I bought the shredder in January 2019 and it performed well until I made a mistake and overloaded it, causing it to jam. I contacted Bonsaii customer service for advice and the person I dealt with was friendly, polite and very helpful. Although it was my error, the shredder was replaced with another new one and they didn’t want the old one to be returned. This is exceptional service which was very much appreciated. I will of course be more careful with the replacement!
However, I would like to offer one piece of advice. Even though the specifications suggest up to 14 sheets may be inserted, from my personal experience I would recommend a lower number of sheets. I will now limit myself to around 6 pages.
Not a cheap shredder, but worth the extra cost as it seems to work exactly as described. Shreds multiple sheets without jamming, and doesn’t seem to overheat. I have used it continuously for about 10-12 mins without any problems.
It’s not particularly quiet, and I suppose a bigger bin would be handy, but overall this shredder is a good compromise.
This shredder is a lot quieter than others I’ve used. Good throughput and good size bin. Re3gular use of oil is recommended to keep the unit in top working order. Only downside is that it doesn’t shred Credit cards.

After receiving a dud machine (which the seller very quickly replaced with no quibble) I am delighted with the quality of this shredder. I haven’t had cause to use the shredder for 30 continuous minutes but I did shred a lot of documents last night with no issue (my old Fellowes shredder would have overheated). I noticed a fan periodically came on, presumably to cool the machine down, but it was quiet and didn’t stay on for very long. I would have no hesitation in recommending this shredder.
It was bought for a small business with a requirement that on frequent basis have many lever arch files worth of records to destroy not just a few receipts etc. The first unit I received functioned perfectly for a couple of months but during a period of heavy use a gear within the unit failed. I contacted the UK agent and after I had provided them some feedback to what had failed them supplied me with a new unit which has worked perfectly now over the last 2 months. Whilst we all hope when we buy a product that we don’t have to call upon the warranty (as done the manufacturers) but however good a product is there will be the occasional failures the issue is how well they are resolved and my experience Bonsaii UK were first rate in this.
There is nothing I don’t like about this shredder but here are a couple of important things I do like about it. First and most importantly, the enclosed bin or paper collection area. Some shredders have wired mesh style containers, these are awful as you will get paper ‘dust’ the bin on this Bonsaii shredder is totally enclosed, no dust escapes, ideal for a home office enviroment.
Secondly the container size, believe me size does matter when it comes to a shredder, this at 17 litres this is a perfect size, you won’t find yourself having to empty it as often and although it might sound a minor thing now it is so annoying when a shredder needs continuously emptying.
Some cheaper shredders are literally a basket or bucket with a shredder unit situated on top, this isn’t, it is a proper unit with a bucket that slots in and out of a casing structure with ease. The kind that have units sitting on top of a basket or bucket are messy when it comes to emptying, really avoid those if you can.
The Bonsaii Evershed states it will shred 14 sheets at a time, this is probably true if you have low GSM paper but I doubt it would shred 14 sheets of 120gsm at a time. I put through around 6-8 sheets and it eats them with ease. Whilst it might not seem that important having shredders that says it will shred less please remember the ability to shred less at a time will mean a lesser strength motor
If you need a very good home office shredder then this fits the bill perfectly, pay much less and you won’t get the important features like enclosed large capacity bucket and the ability to shred 14 sheets at a time, pay much more and ask yourself what extra are you getting, if you want a paper shredder that shreds paper and works why spend much more.
Bought one of these last december, (2017) and had it now for nearly 12 months. It has been a brilliant shredder up until a few weeks ago when I noticed it seemed to be slowing down when undertaking repeated shredding even if only a few sheets at a time. I have never put in 14 probably maximum 8-10 at any oen time and usually much less. I raised it with Morning Joy and after asking me to check/try a few things they concluded a gear may have broken. No hassle at all they offerred to refund my original payment in full. Great customer service! looking at the reviews I think I have just been unlucky and will happily buy another.
I bought this to shred a filing cabinet full of old personal papers. In the office we had a monster shredder that could eat anything . This isn’t quite at that level but it will happily munch through ten sheets at a time and keeps on going remorselessly. It chops it up nice and small too. All in all just what you want from a shredder.
Shredder was working fine until a small part on it broke. The service we got from Morning Joy was just perfect. After sending a couple of photos of the broken part a new shredder was sent straight away at no cost at all and is working fine so far. Not much else you can ask for. Highly recommend this company to buy from for that reason alone.
The Shredder arrived earlier than advised and was put to work straight away. Although 14 sheets in one pass is possible and rated as such,10 x A4 sheets is the best recommendation and i typically use 7 sheets. I have had no issues when emptying the pull out storage basket. You will only have an issue if you over fill the storage basket with then spreading bits of shredded paper on the floor. I always finish with a short reverse to clear the cutting channels. I also use oil…its just rapeseed vegetable oil so you can buy a bottle from the supermarket. I have had no issues with overheating or jamming . Its a quite shredder to so all things considered it gets a 5 star rating. Would recommend.
Over the years I have been suckered into buying cheap shredders that promise to perform but fail dismally with not being able to run for more than a few minutes, not being able to shred a reasonable number of sheets and generally giving up the ghost in a period of months.
This time I decided to pay a little more for a machine that had a quoted continual use run time and actual has a cooling fan.
Since I have had this shredder it has performed admirably and as described. I have caught up on my back log and have not been frustrated by continual reverse gear and over heating.
This is the best shredder I have owned. The performance is very good and will deal with many pages at a time without jamming. If there are too many sheets the unit senses this and reverses. What I particularly like from an engineering perspective is that the motor cooling fan is independent from cutter motor and runs when the motor temperature increases, continuing to run after the cutter motor has stopped. All other shredders I have owned have the cooling fan run by the cutter motor so as you load the cutter motor the fan slows down reducing cooling when you actually need it more! The Bonsaii C169-B just keeps going – no waiting around for half an hour for the thermal trip to reset as with my previous units.
Have no problems with this shredder because it has not overheated, keeps shredding for as long as we require (although we do not try to overdo continuous shredding } and is easy to empty. It is a pleasure to use this machine which does not miss a beat during shredding.
We recently bought a small version of this shredder to shred years and years of back records in the office. It overheated and cut out regularly and jammed irrevocably after a few days. So we bit the bullet and bought this higher end version with a long run time. Yes, of course you have to let it cool down occasionally but, with what seems to be an inbuilt fan, this is only occasionally. We managed to shred 15 plastic sacks of paper over a fairly short period and, although noisy, the shredder is nowhere near as noisy as some and could be used in the office area. HIghly recommended.
Purchased this shredder in December 2017 on the back of positive reviews even though it was more expensive than I would normally pay. Arrived promptly, very easy to set up and a robust product, did the job as described, quieter than most, good auto, stop and reverse controls, adequate & easy to empty waste bin, probably best not to put the max number of sheets in as can lead to jams, but it has an impressive cooling feature, I also bought the oil to help maintain its working life. After six months I had an issue with the cutter so I took photos and emailed the sellers customer service department. They were excellent and sent out a replacement item almost immediately with no requirement to return the faulty one.
Overall very satisfied with this shredder.
Just purchased this as a motivation to sort out a load of old bills and paperwork for recycling. My existing 10+ years old shredder was a cheap and cheerful ’20 quid special’ that frequently jammed and made this chore much worse. I was reluctant to spend 5x that much but decided that if I was going to get a new unit I might as well get a good one this time.
The Bonsaii Evershred is lightyears ahead of my old Rexel, and I would say is most suited to a home office. It is sturdily built, amazingly quiet and has a decent capacity bin (with a clear window) that slides out rather than having to lift off the top of the unit to empty. I am very pleased with my purchase – and only fell short of giving 5 stars as I would have liked the ability the shred credit cards and CDs too.
This shredder runs quite quietly and will take 14 sheets of ordinary paper to shred at one time. If the paper is thicker, fewer sheets can be shredded at once. I would have liked the shredder to “eat” staples as well but the shredder works very well and the 30 minute running time is a great asset! The bin pulls out of the front of the shredder which also adds ease of use. I am happy to recommend this shredder.
Slow but assume that it needs its power to cope with multiple pages. Heavy but a substantial piece of kit.
Only serious criticism is that the collection bin does not come out or in again very easily. If it is full or nearly full, it is too easy to spill the shreds everywhere and picking them up is a bore. Can also block vacuum cleaners!.

Only managed to use it long enough to get the fan to kick in twice but its reassuring that its protecting itself with cooling and could carry on. Easy to empty. Should have a long life if given a bit of oil now and then. It could perhaps run a teeny shade faster, but as it takes quite a lot in one go its still quick to use. worth the few quid more.

The cross cut means all our data protected items are disposed of securely. The bin takes absolutely loads before needing emptying and when you do so, its simply a pull out container and straight into the bin, no mess.
My boss is pretty fussy when it comes to shredders and we have had a couple. this is by far the best we have had.

It’s certainly not whisper quiet but it is quiet enough to chat or watch tv while shredding.
It shreds documents quite quickly, and I’ve never yet had it cut out on me – even though I have been shredding quite a lot of documents lately as I’ve been going through all my old documents, scanning and then getting rid – very cathartic !
The only con on this, is the fact that when you empty the tray, it can leave quite a bit of paper on on the floor of the shredder and on the floor.

Not this Bonsaii, we have shredded years of old finance docs & pay slips going back 20 years in the last week, it just minces them a dozen at a time.
Also has a decent sized bin for all the finely chopped paper so it will run happily for ages.
We also tried it on CDs and plastic cards, again no issues.
Definitely a great buy.
It has enabled me to shred two years of minutes and reports from meetings in only one short session,no blockages,no overheating.
We recommended this to our daughter and she now has one.

The item was well packaged, and impressive without being over packed or under packed, like some other brands.
Comparing it to a “Which Recommend” Brand I’d say this was far superior, in terms of;
a. Noise – much quieter than expected – Not over noisy like some other brands!
b. Very effective and efficient in its shredding – I shredded about 7 pages at a time and old debit / credit cards!
c. It’s got a fan – to cool it down – that kicks in after about 15mins of continuous use – Brilliant!
d. Only bin is removable and not the shredding mechanism – So clever!
Would I recommend this product? Without a doubt – it has my RonSeal of appreciation!
Its a bit sad to be excited over a shredder but the removal off the frustration of not being able to do a simple task like shredding is absolute bliss.
It brags that it does fourteen sheets of paper in one go but instructions say not to do this as it puts a strain on the motor, they advocate only seventy per cent of this number .It’s moderately fast, not noisy and very efficient. A good point is the storage compartment for shredded particles, just slide it out from the front and empty it into a bag etc. The cheap one I am getting rid of needs to have the entire top lifted off, with the blades etc. and is very cumbersome… plus it jams a lot. It’s early days yet for me with this but I anticipate with careful use-age this will give many years of service.
