ight tool for the right job, at the right money
Good tool, only use for light shrub work and light hedges, but would not try to cut thick branches with it. Did an excellent job and easy and light to use. As recommended by other reviewers, I also spray the blades with oil to make sure that they keep well. I would recommend putting ear protectors on, although not loud, it would still damage hearing if used for a period of time. Happy with them and do all I need to do.

This is a great little hedge cutter – I use it to remove the neighbours annoying greenery which grows at a regular pace over our fence. Been using some shears as I was worried I wouldn’t be able to cut through the branches of the greenery but this thing did it like a hot knife through butter. Its a large item so you need to be confident in manouevering it – but its fairly light so suitable for all

Golden Review Award: 118 From Our UsersSpeeds up gardening
I bought the Bosch AHS 45-16 Electric Hedge Cutter to speed up the gardening especially when it comes to trimming some of the larger bushes in our garden.

The AHS 45-16 is good, when used within its limitations. It is not a chainsaw, it is a trimmer, so if you try to use it to cut thick branches, guess what, it’s going to get stuck and come up short. To trim larger bushes it is great, it’s quick and relatively easy to handle, the safety switch configuration works well.

My only complaint of this type of item is that there is always a chance of nicking the power cable and manufacturers really need to give some thought to safe cable routing and around the operator. I tend to sling the cable over my shoulder, but there must be a better way of doing this and I feel that the manufacturers of such items should give this some thought and this isn’t a unique problem to the AHS 45-16, but something you become acutely aware of when using the item.

    Just as described
Very easy to use for a female as it is lighter than some models but still the blade is long enough to get a job done fast. Saves arms from getting tired and makes the job a whole lot faster than manual tools. A life saver when the garden becomes overwhelming at times.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersCutting down what’s over the top
I needed a new hedge trimmer to cut back invasive climbers that had grown over a high fence. It’s light enough to reach and cut through all of it quickly. I’ve had a trimmer before which needs 2 hands on the handle and the trigger so I find it gives more control. I also will be getting it back out next spring, before the birds take up residence, to cut back my pyracantha. It needs something tough and this will do the job. I chose a cabled trimmer as I find the battery ones lose power quickly and I’m really slow. Just keep control of the cable!

Bosch AHS-16; I have used this item only the once and so far all is fine; It is a lot lighter than any hedge trimmer I have previously used, It does not feel powerful but cuts away slowly and gets the job done; I find it quieter than my older trimmers probably due to new generation of motor prohibition rules which is in all our best interest to protect the planet.
I feel for the low price if I get a couple of seasons use then it will have paid for itself.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersA beginner review: cord is too short, tad heavy, some vibrations. Does its job.
I’m a beginner at this kind of gardening, but in our new garden I needed to do some heavy remodeling after the previous tenant let it go wild.

As soon as the hedge cutter arrived with his compact sturdy box, I’ve plugged it in and I faced the first problem.
The cord is too short (around 10m I’d say).

I was nicely surprised about the plastic cover that keeps the blade safe when the trimmer is not in use.

After retrieving a cable reel I was good to go. Some plants are cut like butter, but if they hide some thicker branches, you’ll feel it!
I’d say the 16mm thick ones are really the limit.
Lots of vibrations coming from the motor and once you’ll turn it off, you really will have a strange feeling in your hands.
Even if it’s a 420w motor, it’s still quite quiet (on the box it says 92dB), and with a 2.5kg weight it’s alright for shorts jobs.

You need 2 hands to start cutting; one holding the pad under the handle, and the other pushing the pad at the base of the blade.
    I’d say it’s well balanced.

Do wear gloves when using it and some glasses for protection!

As the title says. Arrived swiftly, quicker than predicted.

I’ve used this hedge cutter on some quite seriously thick hedges and it sliced through like a hot knife through butter. It’s not too long, so is easy to handle, lightweight and powerful. I did consider a hedge trimmer with a longer cutting blade, but settled on this 450mm one, to keep it relatively easy to handle.

Seems to be constructed from decent materials, so hopefully will last too.

And at this price, it’s a bargain.

This is great value for money. I didn’t expect much for the price and bought it to cut some small bushes so I was surprised when it arrived in a big box. It’s easy to use and I had it for two whole days before my husband got a bit carried away and cut through the cable. Ah well, at least he wasn’t electrocuted – the power tripped and he’ll live to see another day. I’m hoping I can get this fixed as it’s very useful around the house (unlike said husband). great lightweight trimmer.
Purchased for a lightweight trimmer for my wife for small hedges and perfect size and weight for the job. First one came with a scuff on the cable and she could see the blue wire showing immediately on opening so filled the return form in within an hour and a replacement came the very next day.. extremely good system and service.. The second one also came with a rough scuff on the cable in one place similar to the original but not exposing the inner wires so accepted it. It appears a problem in manufacture.

What a bargain…top product by a top brand. I ordered this and it came a day early, very sturdy and powerful, and I had no idea that it could make such short work of virtually anything it touches. It comes with a sheath protective cover for when not in use and also has a safety grip that must be compressed before you can start the trimmer with its trigger. Surprisingly quiet for such a powerful beast and has made the garden so much easier to manage…I highly recommend this as it has so many uses apart from cutting the hedges…I use it on grass I cant get my mower around, thick weeds, and my bloody neighbours overhanging tree.

The cord is acouple of metres too short

Arrived sooner than scheduled and put to use straight away. Cutting our hedge has become a pleasure. The only problem is making sure the cut is in line with the intended finished hedge edge as it is very easy to go deeper than intended.
Light, well balanced and gives confidence in operating. Of course the bigger stuff requires loppers or saw.

    Great hedge trimme
I had a G-tech cordless trimmer for years but it was expensive to buy the battery replacements and not very effective at cutting some thicker hedges. This is amazing. It made light work of my hedge and saved me at least an hour. For the money, this is a great piece of kit. Really cannot fault it.

I ordered this as the one my husband always used was too heavy for me. This has, so far, proved to be a good purchase. It’s small enough and light enough for me to use and cuts well. I would recommend this to any females who are struggling to trim hedges and shrubs.

I got this to replace my old 45cm Black and Decker which died on me. I’d say this one is as good, if not better, for trimming. I also have a Bosch Pro with a 70 cm blade and wider teeth for the tougher cutting back. In comparison with that the smaller machine does seem less well balanced – the larger one has a better front grip which you can hold on the top, left side or right side, which allows you to ‘lift upwards’ easily when cutting up the front of a hedge. I found the 45 rather less easy to manoeuvre as you can only grab the front handle from the top. On the other hand it is much, much lighter. I would recommend this for light to medium work. I found the cable rather short.

    Hedge your bets!
Bought this wee hedgecutter as our other one was a bit on the heavy side and took ages to cut our hedges . Nice little hedge cutter and it cuts the hedges in no time at all . Hopefully it lasts for quite some time as it is the first Bosch hedgecutter I have ever owned but the price was quite good and not to be missed.

    Bosch fantastic
I have had this hedge cutter around nine months and the only bad thing I can say about it, is the power cord is too short . I have a tiny garden and I have to use a extension power lead which is very annoying, I did not have to do this with my Flymo hedge cutter. However, it is a very good product and I hope it last longer than my flymo, which lasted 8 long years until I dropped it and it stopped working! Very happy with this purchase even though it is cheaper than the price I paid last year.

It's perfectly fine for a large/medium sized urban garde
I had a very similar model to this which lasted over 10 years of infrequent use and finally gave up the ghost probably due to a bit of mistreatment by me. So I bought this off amazon. It’s perfectly fine for a large/medium sized urban garden. We have lots of quite mature shrubs/bushes as well, of course, as a hedge. Cuts them fine. The only thing I did, as soon as it came, was to attach the old power cord onto the new one to make it longer…as my garden is long. you can obviously use an extension lead. So it cuts hedges and it’s made by bosch…Bosch hedgecutter; does the job

    Can't go wrong with Bosch
I’d bought a Bosch lawn mower and it was the best I’ve ever owned, so I went for the name and haven’t been disappointed so far. Light weight, safe and simple to use. The flex could have been a little longer though.

I chose this hedgecutter for 2 reasons. Firstly, I have a fondness for Bosch products as I feel they are good quality and, in my experience, long-lasting. Secondly, having read the reviews, it seemed perfect for my requirements. It’s everything I expected. I was confident that I would be able to use it easily, but asked a friend to try it for me in the first instance, as I felt a little tutorial wouldn’t hurt. After trimming a few shrubs, my friend said the hedgecutter was a delight to use, and not at all heavy. I too, from a female perspective, am happy that it’s not a heavy machine. I also bought the Bosch lubricant on the recommendation of others, and once the trimming was done, I cleaned the cutter and gave it a quick spray of lubricant before putting it away. Delighted !

    A pleasure to use!
Bought this to tackle a very overgrown (and fence panel destroying!) 20 foot run of ivy, this little beauty handled it with ease and from start to finish was around 15 min job (then a couple of days to pick the stuff up)

Not too noisy, comfortable to hold and easily munched its way through even some of the 1″ branches.

Be warned you will be looking for stuff to cut once you have used this, simple – very effective and of course being a Bosch well designed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust what i needed.
Used this today for the first time and it worked wonders on a large Leylandii that was growing sideways (having been topped) and assaulting me everytime i went into the garden. It’s now nice and neat 🙂 Be warned though that these are powerful enough to cut through a metal chain link fence, as i found out accidentally, so be careful with it. Tomorrow it will be used to attack the mass of brambles i’ve spotted attempting to invade my garden. I would recommend this to anyone who knows what they’re doing with a hedgetrimmer 🙂

    eplacement for older trimme
My old trimmer (same model) was OK until the hand grip kept sticking, making it very dangerous to use. So I’m hoping this one will be better and last longer. I can find no mention of guarantee – is there one? It’s not what I would call lightweight but I knew that because of the old one. But I’d suggest that people with weak arms should think twice before buying this unless they’ve got someone to do the work for them!

I only have limited experience of using these (around 20 minutes all told) but while they were working they were excellent. Made very short work of the leylandii in my garden.

However, like a cock, I cut through the lead by accident (I had thought I was being ultra careful). Brillantly though, the accident did not cause my death as the safety features worked (as I would have dreamed) and spared me from a shocking, burned-dog-hair-smelling demise.

What a wonderful world we live in where manufacturers plan for the totally idiocy of their customers and spare their children the pain of having to attend their, admittedly moronic, father’s funeral.

    A cut above the res
OK so “A cut above the rest” is a bit of a corny title. It has to be said its true. This Bosch Hedge cutter is just great and I find it hard to criticize its design or capability to do the job it was intended for. I have never owned a electric cutter before, thought I could make a much nicer job of trimming the few bushes I have in my garden. Its fairly light to handle, cuts with ease and used with care very safe. I nearly purchased a much inferior make and even looked at 2nd hand, but with Amazons amazing deals buying new was only a few pounds more. I Would recommend this cutter as I would be surprised if you could get any better results by paying more. A few reviews comment the cable is to short but I found this not to be a problem when using a extension reel. Don’t wait 18 years like me to buy one, buy with Bosch confidence today.

I bought this hedgecutter after burning out the last two supposedly good cutters. Dont listen to any negative feedback, as anybody thats got a problem with this cutter needs a lobotomy, This is without a doubt the best tool iv used. its light, and easy to use, the cutting is exceptional and neat. Iv cut leilandi which is approx 70 feet in lengh, and 12 feet high, and it made mincemeat of it all, a great piece of kit, without doubt!

Cannot rate this high enough. This product is excellent quality and did what it say’s on the tin. I was actually surprised at how efficient and good the item did the job and providing you look after it, it should give years of good service. In fact the one I bought was for my son, but I am now going to place an order for one for myself. 10/10

    Great Hedge trimme
This hedge trimmer arrived so quickly, impressive from the get go!It was easy to use, not too heavy. a great quality product for a reasonable price.

My son managed to clear the overgrown hedges within an hour, about 30ft in length!gardening can be hard work, but with this tool it made the gardening experience less of a chore and more of an enjoyable experience. I loved it! so did my family after helping clear up my over grown mammoth of a garden! I recommend this hedge trimmer to any one that has a challenge on their hands in their garden.

Very impressed but a tad heavy for a female
The hedge cutter is excellent, the cable is longer than most other makes, the blade is long so you can reach in awkward places and it cuts very well. The only downside is that if you are cutting a hedge higher than shoulder height it can feel a bit heavy, especially if being used by a female. Men probably wouldn’t find it too heavy though. Would definitely recommend.

    Light and functional
This product was exactly as described. It is light and perfect for most domestic tasks within easy reach of an appropriate socket outlet. For more versatility or power, get a petrol cutter, but be prepared for the additional weight, cost and maintenance implications. Good product, as usual for Bosch, although last year we bought the very small Bosch rechargeable unit which was dreadful.

    Cutting censatio
In the past I have bought tools from Bosch; i.e, sander, lawn mowers, eg; so buying this Hedge-cutter as met all expectations, cutting through good size branches without blinking an eye. Power-full, lightweight and easy to use.. Down side is the wire length. Not long enough hence I cut through it accidentally so I put on 20mtrs… well worth the money

If you like it wonky or wavey have a beer or two
Be careful of the cable don’t cut it through
Bish BOSCH and the job is done,

Now I can see my nieghbour on the otherside of the hedge,
She says she want her bush trimmed but not with this tool I said 🙂

Although I can’t compare this hedge trimmer with any others, as it’s the only trimmer I’ve ever owned, it does exactly what it is designed to do. It does it well too.

It’s light enough for most potential users and it certainly made a good job of our hedges. There’s sufficient cable for most gardens, but we did use an extension lead (quite a big garden).

I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this product.

I live on my own and wanted to trim shrubs in my garden, but wanted an easy and inexpensive hedge trimmer I read several reviews on Amazon and the Bosch hedge cutter seemed to fit the bill…It does. Easy for a woman to use ,light weight and does the job. The only negative is that the lead is not long enough, so you will need a long extension.

    Great value
Even ‘amateur gardener’ would be overstating my skills and gardening ambition, but I did have some hedges overhanging either side of my garden that needed trimming back.

I’ve always trust Bosch merchandise in the past and bought this over some cheaper unbranded models. It’s lightweight and hasn’t failed to trim anything I’ve thrown at it.

I purchase many things over the years and this product is 10 out of 10.

Being a female, hedgecutters can be pretty heavy (for me!) and awkward to use. These are light, powerful and blew me away with their performance of 10 conifers, making light work of what would have taken me twice as long with my last hedgecutters (also a well known make).

Products improve over the years (well they should do!) and for me, this product is well worthy of five stars and more.

I’m very pleased with this hedgecutter. It’s perfect for the small hedges I use it for. I’d avoided buying one for a long time as I wasn’t sure if it would be too heavy but it’s light and easy to manage. It’s reduced the time it took to trim by at least half. I would certainly recommend it for a small garden; I can’t comment on what it would be like for a very high and long expanse of hedging.

An excellent little hedge trimmer. I have had this model before and found that the blades stayed sharp, (important for conifer trimming) and is light enough for prolonged use on large and tall hedges. It does have a shorter blade length than many alternatives, but this not only helps with the weight, but makes it excellent for topiary trimming.
Can’t fault it, if it lasts as long as my last one, I shall be very satisfied!

I bought this item to replace my old Black and Decker cutters, the blades of my old one needed replaced and it was going to cost nearly as much as a new set of cutters so I decided to go for Bosch as I have other Bosch Products. It arrived quite quickly and such a difference, my hedges were cut in no time, so far I am not disappointed with any of my Bosch electrical tools. The price would have been about the same if I had used my over 60’s discount card in B & Q. I would recommend this hedge cutter to anyone.

Purchased to replace a Flymo with a damaged cable, I went for this because it was reviewed as being lightweight; whereas the Flymo’s were all reviewed as being heavy. I am really impressed by this hedge trimmer. It truly is light weight and it has coped well with out 8 foot tall, 30 foot long hedge along the side perimeter of our garden, let alone the hedge in our front garden. The only way it could be improved is if it came with a cheery little gardener to work it for you!
