Top class product, and not only for small spaces. I have huge gardens with driveways on both sides on the house but I hate the sight of a permanent clothes line. This folds neatly , and easily away, and then works like a charm when you need it. A bit pricey, but shop around, I got a great price on it here on Amazon. Very happy with it.

I had one of these for 12 years at my old house and it was still going strong without even a replacement line. So no hesitation in buying another when I moved house. Strongly built, easy to fix to an external wall, and so very tidy in my small garden. If you are used to those that spin around as you hang out your laundry, you’ll find this a bit more of a faff as you and the laundry have to move around it. However, the trade off is that this is much neater, easier to close up and hide away. Love i

2 months on i am very pleased with this purchase as it took an unsightly item out of our main garden and put it out the way at the side of the house. I deliberated long and hard before purchasing and am not dissapointed!

Absolutely love this product, wasn’t sure if I should buy this as I was worried it wouldn’t fit much on, it does! can easily fit 2 full loads of washing with space to spare, we are a 2 adult, 2 child household. Also fits towels & bedsheets with ease. It’s easy to fold & the metal case is definitely worth the extra money, easy to open & close & the line is neatly hidden away.

Really well designed and made. Extends out quite far and then folds up really discreetly to the wall. The cover is well made too and seems to protect everything. I like how there are poppers to secure the cover down when not in use. The dearest washing gadget I have ever purchased except the actual washing machine, however was well worth saving for.

This product is excellent in every way, the best part of it is it’s space saving USP. Looks sleek and modern when folded away and has an impressive hanging space

    I couldn’t be happier

Only thing I would add is that I don’t think the stainless steel cover is worth the extra 80 – I would have been happy with the fabric cover which brings the total price under 100

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe don’t have a small garden but I hated the rotary airer being visible still when not in use & it’s awkward placement as it has to have clear space around it…this is perfect! Easy to fit to the wall & put up too! I was super careful when using it and opening/collapsing it at first after reading reviews on it bending and I am really not sure how that can be done?? I can only think by just pushing it pretty hard rather than lifting the handle slightly to unlatch the mechanism holding it open…I can confirm though for any one looking at this and being concerned by those reviews it is definitely not easy to do!

Perfect! Looks great when folded into it’s case!

Easy to assemble and get up on the wall. Really nice item that is very easy to use. Came with cloth cover which was really nice, sturdy quality. Line is easy to put up and down and can take a large wash load plus extras. Despite being really sturdy the line does wobble a bit when putting up and down.

This was very easy to attach to our wall (once I used the correct drill bit!) Easy to follow instructions. Took 2 people only to hold the line in place while the bolts were tightened (with the tool provided). Pops out and clicks into place in very easily. Enough space for a full load of washing. Clicks back down with one hand and cover fits over it perfectly (material cover but good quality) No ugly pole taking up space in the middle of the garden! Only used this line for 2 weeks, and it is summer, so no idea if it will stand up to the Scottish winter weather as yet, but love it so far!

Perfect solution for small spaces. This is my second unit, the first did eventually break after 5 or 6 years of use, the plastic join of one of the arms in the centre broke.

I tried a cheap rip off purchased from Amazon, but it was so so poorly made even dangerous with sharp metal edges, the lines would tangle all the time. So I do appreciate the quality and build and design of the Brabantia.

Whilst there are concerns the same failure will happen again, the units are solid.
Our washing machine has a 9kg capacity, which I can hang out on the line no problem.

The closing mechanism once you have the hang of it makes it very easy to close. If you have to even use the slightest force to close it too are almost certainly doing it wrong, it’s more of a push up the a push towards the wall. I mention this as I read another reviewer who had problems similar to when my wife first used it, if it feels like your having an arm wrestle with your washing line stop, you will break it, read the instructions and and it should close with little effort.

This is the second of these we’ve had (moved house recently and foolishly left the other for new owners) and I couldn’t rate it more highly. Very simple (one person job) to put up and to use it. I wouldn’t be looking for a rotary dryer if you have the space on a wall, go get one, you’ll not be disappointed.

Bought for a patio area and it fits brilliantly, it’s ideal if like us you don’t have anywhere to fix a traditional line. However bear in mind that although this folds away neatly it does require quite a bit of room when it is extended and in use. Assembly was fairly easy and the opeoand closing of it once up is very smooth

What a buy! I am so happy with this washing hanger that I cannot express it. It looks amazing, folds easily (pls make sure you do read the instructions as you do need to push it back to close it rather than towards the wall!), unfolds even easier and you don’t have the permanently standing stick in the garden as once it’s folder it is completely out of the way!
It is an amazing thing to have in any household. I have bought it together with the peg holder that is very good too. Highly recommended.

I’ve always used the rotating ones but we have had astro fitted now so we didn’t want to ruin it by putting a hole in! This is perfect and out of the way. I bought the one with the cover and it does look nice but it had a couple of stratches on and probably isn’t worth the money but I am happy with it!

I’ve had this washing line for ten years and it is still perfect. It is very easy to put up and equally easy to fold away. I’ve never had a problem with it at all. Now after ten years the fabric cover is in need of replacing, which is why I was looking on this site, hoping to be able to buy one, but they don’t seem to be available separately. That would be my only slightly negative comment.

This Brabantia product is suitable for confind spaces. In this case a block paved patio which I did not want to excavate for a rotary line base.
I checked the dimensions, and the space needed when folded and unfolded, plus the wall mounting arrangement, which fits perfectly between the kitchen windoow and the sliding patio door.
When opened the line causes no obstruction to the window or door.
This has proved to be a very useful and successful external clothes line.

This is a great space saver. I have had it a couple of years now so quite late to review. It cant get a bit sticky if it’s not been used in a while which makes it hard to put up and is expensive for what it is but I doubt I would go back to my old one which took up.loads of space in the garden.

I hate washing lines generally because you can’t pack them away and they make the garden look untidy. This however, I love. I can’t pack it away when I’m not using it and it’s sturdy enough for me to do 3 loads of washing. I’ve never had any trouble with things hitting the wall either, even with the winds that we’ve been having recently.

This has been a god send for our garden.

The casing is robust enough to keep the line clean and looks really sleek

We had artificial grass installed and wanted to avoid cutting holes for a rotary drier, this has been excellent

Although only 24metres of space it’s enough for a wash

    Looks great, fits well

I originally gave this product 1 star probably due to having a minor fit of rage after installing it because I could not for the life of me get the bloomin’ thing to retract. After reading reviews I learnt I had to pull up on the handle a bit first, which made a lot of sense, but it would have been nice if this was made clear on the instructions.

Another reason I gave it only 1 star was because the lines seemed really loose. But after hanging a load of washing up to test it out they are not as bad as they first seemed.

So all-in-all I am happy with my purchase, despite its minor flaws. It is perfect for a small garden like mine and does hold a good amount of washing. I had one normal load on it plus a load of bed linen, with room to spare.

When I bought my house in 2010 one of these lines was installed by the previous owners. It has given me excellent service and works as well today as it did nine years ago. The product I bought was a used one. It came complete withe everything needed including a box spanner. The template for the hole spacing is on the box. The only thing you need is a 8mm masonry drill. I can now discard my rotary line. The quality of the used product was like new only the box untidy. I will certainly purchase a used item again. Geoff

I love this line. I had one so mom wanted one for her garden. It works great but she finds it difficult to put away as you need to click it out, I dont find it an issue at all. Mom is less mobile and therefore doesnt have the strength for it.
Never the less I would highly recommend. Its pricey but lovely not to have it up in the garden 24/7 and its neat when put away you dont notice it on the wall

We wanted to make more of our small lawn and were fed
up of the rotary line obscuring a great view of open countryside. The wall mounted line is a great answer. It was really easy to put on the wall as it came with a template. Now its out of sight and does the job really well. Really impressed with the sturdy construction and easy operation. A We also got the metal cover which looks great and keeps it hidden, dry and protected from the elements. Top stuff!

A little tricky to fold out and click into position. But worth the investment.

I have limited space in my garden, so this was exactly what I wanted. I was little worried it may not work, but surprised by how sturdy it was, how easy it was to put away and most importantly, it can take a lot of clothes.

I love my new washing line. It’s great that I can store it away but its to hand on the patio. It’s also great not walking into an annoying washing line! I have only needed to use every other line (my preference for airflow) to hang a large wash load out, there is surprisingly lots of space. I am already getting value for money as I am using the drier less as the line is conveniently placed.

At last I can put my washing out to dry in the fresh air and sunshine whilst not having to clutter my small garden up with a large washing line. Love the simplicity of this product, it pull out and clicks into place with no fuss and provides an impressively large area to hang and dry all my washing. With a bit of stretching (on my part as I’m not the tallest person) I can even put my king sized bedding to dry over the top of the line. Would definitely recommend.

This looks brilliant on our garden wall and is simple to use but a little tricky to install. Luckily my dad, who recommend this, had a masonry drill to install it. You can get a lot of washing on at one time and is very inconspicuous when put away. Very happy with it so far. Fingers crossed it survives a windy Scottish winter! (I bought this and the metal cover separately as it worked out much cheaper.)

This is absolutely brilliant if you have limited space making a rotary line impracticable. I bought one 10 years ago and it’s been great. Saw it on special offer so took advantage of the opportunity to change it for a new one even though I’m sure it would have lasted much longer.veasy to install, the enclosed femplate takes all the guesswork out of drilling the fixing holes. Can’t recommend it too highly!

Doesn’t click into place as easy as I thought it would when unfolding the line. I’m almost afraid of breaking it trying to get it to click into place. Apart from that it’s great. It’s very easy to put away, there’s no issues there. It was easy enough to install and seems very secure once up. Overall it’s a great product.

Whoever thought of this idea is a genius, we have a small garden and didn’t want a rotary line stuck in the middle and neither did we want a long line going across the whole garden so my partner found this, it’s simple to fix to the wall, folds away neatly and easily, holds loads of washing, very sturdy, we have the case that fits around it to protect it from the weather and keep the garden looking smart and tidy – totally worth the money – highly recommended

Really pleased with this. Wasn’t hard to fix to the wall and the cover is really good too. Putting up and down is ok when you get used to it, remember to ‘click’ into place when putting it up, and use the handle the rest of the time. Was a bit concerned about double sheets fitting but with a bit of a squeeze they’re ok, bigger than that might need folding. The line is quite chunky , thicker than some rotaries.

Bought this for the identical one that was with the house when we bought it. My wife said that one was broken so I bought this new one. I love it. Easy to put up on the wall. Easy to unfold and fold away. Holds 2 loads of washing and we’re a family of 4 adults. I’m really impressed with it and it’s much smarter than a normal rotary line in that you can fold it away and cover it up with the bag supplied and it’s not in the way.

We didn’t want our small-ish garden to be dominated by an 80s style rotary dryer so plumped for this which we’ve fixed to the back wall of the house. A great invention! You barely notice in when it’s folded down with the cover on. Easy to fit, did it in 30 minutes with the fixings provided.

It’s not perfect. There aren’t enough pegs supplied with it and half the ones we did get were broken. Plus it doesn’t quite lock/unlock as easily as I’d like. It takes a bit of fiddling to do it properly.

Even so, I’d very much recommend it. You get a lot of washing on it and it’s extremely sturdy and well made.

After opening up the box of the washing line I found that there were no wall fixings included, even though on the box it clearly states that the screws and wall fixings will be included. They were nowhere to be found so i had to go out and spend even more money on this already expensive product buying screws and fixings for it.

Brabantia is an Italian make – and it is ‘fantastico’, With the emphasis on the ‘a’ – having lived in Italy for 22 years! One pronounces it fantAStico. It certainly is. Of course NOT if one has a large family. Go for the larger Brabantia’s. Don’t skimp on price. Go for a name that counts.
This is attached to the corner of my garden room, outside, where it receives breeze from all round. I just love it.

Wow! Whilst this isn’t a cheap purchase, it was worth every penny. We didn’t want to put a rotary line in the middle of our lawn and we are short of space to run a washing line across our fence so this was a must have.
It fits so neatly in the box and so far has been spider free!!
I have 3 children and this can easily fit 2 big loads of washing on it.
    Honestly it’s great!

We got this based on other reviews on here that Brabantia make sturdy, reliable items. This is definitely one of them. Folds out easy, has plenty of space, the clothes dry easily and it folds away into a cover for winter/not in use. Doesn’t take up a lot of space in the garden as it is fit to a wall! Great!
Only reason I’ve given 4 stars for this was the instructions that came with it – didn’t say how to fold it up! Spent ages pressing what looked like buttons etc. until we looked at a YouTube video which shows the user pulling the front up and pushing back to the wall at the same time. Wasn’t on instructions.

Golden Review Award: 155 From Our UsersI’ve added some useful assembly tips further down and the photos relate to the tips.

I’d spent quite some time looking for an outdoors solution. I was about to buy one of those retractable lines that fix to the wall but a lot of people had issues with the line sagging over time and the bottom plastic bits that the line wraps around breaking.

I actually really wanted something that’d look nice (to fit in with when I redo the garden). Thankfully, I came across this wall fix solution. Even though the protective box version is more expensive it looks really modern and sleek. It’s stainless steel. Due to living near the coast I’m planning to buy protective oil to rub in (protects the stainless steel from salt water).

    Useful tips:

I installed this on my own and it was very easy.

    1. It’s not immediately clear from the instructions but screw the bottom 2 screws into the raw plugs in the wall until they’re sticking out by 1cm. This allows you to slot the dryer onto the wall and it’ll hang onto the wall comfortably. It’s designed to be installed this way. Once hanging on the wall you can move onto screwing the top 2 screws in. The black rubber things easily slide in between the plate and wall.

    2. Don’t open the dryer until you’ve partly screwed in the top 2 screws as well. If you open it with only the bottom screws in place it will put a lot of strain on the top half. The wall bracket is strong metal so shouldn’t be a problem but just in case. You’ll probably need to open it fully eventually to screw in the top 2 screws more easily.

    3. You don’t need to put the whole length of your screwdriver through the instrument they give you. This’ll make more sense when you’re doing it rather than reading it now. You’ll get more than enough leverage to screw the screws with the screwdriver in with it in just past the tip (see photo). If you have a long screwdriver and try turning the instrument with the screwdriver in completely you’ll probably come against the arms of the dryer as you’re twisting and it’ll take forever to screw the screws in all the way (you’ll only twist a small amount and have to readjust your screwdriver). By only putting the screwdriver in slightly you’ll have more room to twist and get it done quicker. A long paragraph for a simple observation, but I was doing it the other way first and it was taking ages!

    4. Don’t be tempted to screw the screws in really tight. I did the bottom ones quite tight and when I came to put the doors on the bottom of the doors were touching the wall behind when opened out. It’d be easy to scratch the stainless steel like this. You can check if you’ve evenly tightened everything by looking at the gap between the top of the plate and the bottom of the plate. Remember there are those rubber things between the plate and wall. They squash as you tighten. My bottom ones were squashed a lot more than the top. I had to take the doors off and loosen the bottom screws slightly. They were still tight just not over-tightened.

    5. Putting the doors on…best done after you’ve opened the dryer. I initially decided to put them on with the dryer in the collapsed position and despite my best efforts managed to get the clothes line stuck where the door had slotted in! I had to carefully tease the door off without it hitting the wall. Much easier to do when the lines are out of the way. A pole on the doors snaps onto the plastic cap and bottom you slide on. This is the only bit which is a bit flimsy feeling. It would have been nice if the plastic pieces (cap and bottom) could be more sturdy. I don’t think it’ll affect the function of the dryer but the doors don’t precisely/perfectly line up when closed…I think due to them being clipped to these plastic bits which are on the looser side compared to everything else. You can’t tell from a distance. Only when very up close.

Overall – looks like a great item which folds away very neatly and actually looks nice in the garden even if it’s only a washing line. It comes with a 5 year guarantee once you register the product online. You have to type the barcode number in – will be on the box.

Hopefully it lasts a long time.

This is the perfect solution to all our problems. Our garden hasnt much lawn space plus the space it has isnt in much sun but we have two walls that get full sun a lot of the day. It’s quite sturdy once installed and so nicely hidden away in its cover after use. I didnt get the metal cover as it was double the price with it but no regrets so far. I have been using it a month with no problems.

  42. MelanieRigsby says:

I’m so glad I didn’t buy when they were at full price. Now just over 50. I bought Two.
I had a cheap (24.99) copy, from Wilkos I think, that went rusty and fell apart after 18 months or so. At double the price, the Brabantia is more than twice as robust. I think the original price of 120 ish was a bit ott but 50 is good value.

Were a bit fiddly to fit, and get straight, on old Edwardian walls but look great now. My tips are: 1). if space is tight, to fit so that the top cord is about Six Inches above head height. That way you can walk underneath easily. 2). Slide the round plastic bit at the bottom of the washing line cover, between the shiny metal supporting rod, on the side, and the plastic body to store it whilst the washing line is open. It wont fly away then.

    Highly recommended.

  43. KentRmqtaejv says:

A very decent washing line, all be it quite a small hanging area. Big enough for a young family of four, to be fair, but when deciding between this (24m) or the Brabantia rotary line (50m), make sure you want style over function before clicking buy.

Incredibly easy to mount onto a brick wall and looks really neat when put away.

On arrival, one of the black plastic trims was broken on one of the doors. As it’s a branantia, one phone call and some emailed photos later and we have a whole new cover assembly in our possession. You simply can’t fault Brabantia’s customer service.

The washing line ‘pulls’ out smoothly and ‘pushes’ away when done. I’ve always hated having a rotary line on display or folded up but visible. This is a great solution and if space on it becomes an issue, I’d happily buy another for a different wall.

This is a great solution if you don’t want those dryers that stick into the lawn and end up leaning over and eventually driving you potty.
The opening and closing is pretty easy and it looks neat in the stainless steel box, which is a bit thin and flimsy but is acceptable.
The wires are a bit loose on mine, I’ll look at tightening them somehow so they don’t droop when loaded with clothing.
Mount this on a sunny wall and clothes will dry quickly.
It stays as extended, does not rotate if you are wondering.

    Good solutio

Having been nagged for ages by my wife to buy her one of these airers I had always resisted as it appeared an extremely expensive way to dry clothes. However, my resistance finally waned and I bought her one for Mother’s Day this year.

Well, you would have thought I’d bought her a Porsche or Villa abroad… the excitement levels were on a par with the children at Christmas.

It was very simple to put up on our outside wall and looks very smart when put away with its black weatherproof cover hiding it from sight.

I would definitely recommend this product especially if you have a smaller garden. Once fully erected it gives a lot of drying space without either the inconvenience of a line down the garden or a rotary airer taking up most of the lawn.

The only negative so far is that clothes nearer the middle of the airer take longer to dry but hopefully the British summer will last long enough to fully test different hanging arrangements and get our money’s worth from this product over the next few months and years.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI don’t normally leave reviews but this retractable line is outstanding. It was easy to fix to the wall using the template provided. I’ve seen some other reviews about difficulty putting it up and putting it down – no such problems here. The line is strong and sturdy and as our garden is a bit of a wind tunnel this is reassuring. Takes loads of washing including bedding and large towels. Really pleased with this, makes putting out washing a much easier task than our previous solutions. When folded away it’s not at all obvious. Great value for money.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this as our garden is tiered and we get more sun and breezes at the side of the house. It’s incredibly sturdy with a surprising amount of hanging space.
It comfortably takes superking bedding, towels, jeans etc, and I’ve easily hung two loads of washing and still have space.
The mechanism to fold and extend is very simple, though initially I was too gentle leading to it collapsing once loaded. I have arthritis in my hands and it’s been no problem. It folds away neatly and the fabric cover provided does the job.
This is a great purchase, saves space in the garden and I’d highly recommend.

I bought this to replace a clothes line dryer I had on the lawn.
It was easy to fit (only needed 4 drill holes in the wall) and when opened I was amazed that it was square in shape and had 4 large sets of lines (as opposed to the 3 on my previous one).
It opens and closes effortlessly with one hand, and when folded up is remarkably small.
It comes with a black plastic elasticated cover, which completely protects the lines and metal arms.
Overall I’d recommend it to anyone. 10/10

Tip to new purchasers though. We found that for full security of it being able to carry a full heavy load is to glue the bolts into the wall.

Had been thinking about a retractable reel washing line but was put off by many negative reviews. Decided to seriously upgrade to this. Four times the price but I’m hoping ten times the durability. Four stars given for durability is a guess as I bought this for someone else and it has not yet been used but it was easy to fit and seems very solidly made. The cover that is included not only protects and keeps the airer clean when not in use but also makes it look very unobtrusive when it is folder away.

I discovered these static rotary-style driers that fit to the side of the house and then did a lot of research regarding the quality, type of line additional features, benefits of a single cord and length of cord available. Whilst there are cheaper driers, in my opinion there isn’t a better one.

I have managed to fit TWO full loads of washing on this rack and I’m still finding better ways to utilise the space – I now hang one of those multi-peg thingies for socks from the lowest point and it’s taken me a while to remember that I can hang hangers from the corners!

As you can see in the pictures I have the version with the metal case, which was a bit of a challenge to fit as we have an old bungalow with a ridge tile half way up the wall AND we have dreadful pebble-dash! But my brother in law bought some deep washers and longer screws so that it would stand away from the wall enough.

So I absolutely love it! I love that it’s neatly tucked away when I don’t need it, I love that it’s long enough to take plenty of washing, it really is simple to lift out-up-click into place to use and equally simple to lift up-down and tie into the case. Well worth the money. Highly recommend this.

BRILLIANT! Excactly what I needed and wanted

We bought this washing line as we didn’t want to have a ground spike installed in our new patio. This was recommended by our friends who had bought this washing line and we were so impressed, we went ahead and bought it as well. Its very stylish and looks very neat and tidy when its installed. The installation is a bit fiddly and the instructions weren’t the best which was disappointing so took about an hour in total (with coffee breaks) to get unpacked, laid out, holes drilled and fitted. I will say though that its worth it as we are very pleased with the finished result. It almost blends in and we don’t notice it now. Opening the protective cover (which is extra) is very easy (push a single button) and extending and retracting couldn’t be easier. Would definitely recommend however be aware that it isn’t as big as a typical clothes line. Its fine for just myself and my wife but if you have a large family, you may struggle with the size of it.

    Very stylish and efficie

Golden Review Award: 45 From Our UsersLove this product! Robust but loads of hanging space. Fitting defo requires some strength and dexterity but once it’s in place it’s fab.
One small negative tho is the usage instructions, the folding down is very straightforward once you find the little clip within the frame at the bottom. This is not at all clear from the instructions which merely shows a ‘pull down’ action.

    Practical and space saving

Having recently moved and only having a small garden I wanted a compact washing line, which still did the job, was compact and looked good.
This ticked all the boxes and boy, am I pleased with it!
It is one of the best buys I have made.
Excellent quality, easy to erect and put away, does the job and holds a full line of washing. Seems very well made too.
Fabulous design – great asset for my small garden and me!!

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersBrilliant way to dry clothes in our small garden. After years of rotary dryers taking up most of our garden and having to duck and dive trying to get past it to the shed I decided to try a wall mounted one. After much research and reading reviews I decided on this one. It came with all the fixings including rawl plugs. It’s definitely a 2 person job for ease of fixing although after installing it I think if I was pushed I could have managed on my own. A gentle pull on the handle and its up again a gentle push up and it’s released. I have used a bit of velcro to keep the lines together for ease of putting the cover on. I decided against the metal holder as it would double the cost so I’ve made do with the material one which looks quite robust. All in all I’m very pleased with it and it opens my garden up now.

Excellent idea for those who do not want or do not have the room for a clothes line. We are in the process of having a cabin built in the garden. The old line would have been in front of the doors. Who wants to walk through wet washing. I had thought about buying this line previously but now I had a good excuse to. Arrived and was fixed to the shed the next day. I was a bit nervous to use it at first due to some reviews however it is so easy. I have arthritis in my hands and do not find it at all difficult to open and close. It takes more washing than my old line and folds away neatly. Treated myself to the Brabantia wash bag too which matches the cover on the line.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBrilliant bit of kit and easy to fix to your wall. Plenty of space for 2 or 3 washes. Just always make sure when you pull it out for use you ensure it clicks into place fully. My wife didn’t and she loaded it up too much on one side which made it retract back and bent one of the arms. Total user error but you have been warned!

Golden Review Award: 63 From Our UsersPretty good. Sturdy and well made.

Advice for installing: if you are putting this device on a roughcasted wall (i.e. little sharp rocks covering the wall), first put a plank of wood on top of the roughcasting, then put the dryer on top of that plank. Your fingers will say thank you. I’ve made this mistake and did not put anything on the wall – now every time I need to put a cover on, I scrape my fingers on the wall and it is not pleasant.

This is amazing. We have recently had the garden landscaped and dident want a airer bedon the lawn. A line was not practical so we tried this as a solution. It’s really neat and easy to use but you need to be careful as it is quite fragile to pull out and put back in. It’s smaller than our previous airer which was a concern when we ordered it but it works well for my family of 4. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent piece of kit! Very easy to use, and plenty of room for the washing of a family of two adults and two teenage boys. It pulls out of the wall with ease, and is very sturdy. It only loses a star because it says it comes with a template to mount it on the wall, which I took to mean something to put on the wall so that you can mark the drill holes. Not so – the ‘template’ is just a diagram, and required much measuring, checking and rechecking of measurements, and the instructions were not totally clear.

This is a really excellent product. Easy to fit and use (although movement was a little stiff to begin with) it avoids having a pole in your garden and makes use of ‘dead space’ behind the back of our garage. Plenty of capacity, can comfortably get 2 loads hung up on it without using every part of the drying line. Comes with weatherproof cover. We’re delighted with it.

The template for putting the line up is on the outside of the box, keep looking it is there and is very useful. Washing line holds loads of washing. Make sure you hear the click when you put the line up as otherwise it will collapse when you have all your washing on it. Lines should be taut. Great product and quick to install. Looks neat when put away and lift to close the line.

A neat solution for limited spaces. A friend bought the more expensive stainless steel version but this is fine for us. Ok so it’s not bomb proof but if you treat it with respect it does the job just fine. Very easy to install and put and down (once you know how). Most of the negative comments on it come from those who don’t RTFM I’m guessing. Someone complained there isn’t a template but there is. It’s a part of the box and says fairly clearly where it is. If it lasts 3 years I’ll be happy and consider it reasonable value.

I have to be fair and say that I am sure that this would be sorted if I requested a replacement but I am going to keep it as this doesn’t bother me too much and I suspect it was broken in transit.
I have wanted one of these for so long and got it at a great price. I finally can dry my clothes without the whole street seeing my laundry 🙂

They are a brilliant idea; takes a full load of washing and then folds up neatly when you’ve finished with it, so that you would barely know it was there. The cover supplied is tough and should be all that you will need. As I said, mine is 3 years old and looks as good as new. Easy to install too. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love these wall fixing clothes lines, easy to pull out and fold up neatly out of sight when you’re done with them. I previously had a cheaper model, half the price of this one. It did well for a couple of years and then an arm snapped. I thought I would spend a bit more and so far I think it was money well spent. The Brabantia is much sturdier with much more hanging space and it comes with a cover. It was tricky to fix, but once attached to the wall it’s easy to pull up and down. Early days yet, but so far I’m very pleased.

Great space saving washing line. Easily attached. Pulls out easily and stores easily. Plastics cover does it’s job although I suspect in time that will deteriorate with weathering and constant use. Learnt to put larger garments on inner line and smaller/lighter ones on outside. It doesn’t rotate so wind/sun doesn’t get through larger items to smaller inner garments. Does exactly what it says it will do.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBrilliant product
I bought this for our patio and it is great for reducing space. The build quality isn’t exceptional but the hinge mechanism has a robust and satisfying feel very little play from side to side so the mechanism should last. It wasn’t the too difficult to mount to the wall as long as you pilot the holes using the trace method.
For anyone unaware of this method, you mesure and mark the holes on a piece of paper (a3 for this) and tape it to the wall and drill on your marks directly.

The included cover is a good fit and not only protects against rust but hides the unit. It’s a good idea for anyone with limited space in there garden or anyone that doesn’t like the aesthetics of a fixed line. Also the one handed operation means I can open without having to put the basket down which is a neat feature when you’re in a hurry.

I would never replace it with anything other than another Brabantia, I have been so pleased with the old one. Is the retractable cover worth the extra money? Time will tell but the removable cover on the cheaper model, although still usable ripped quite quickly.

This washing line is great, I really recommend if you need a space saving way to dry your washing.

Our garden isn’t very big so this has been the perfect way to save space and make the most of the garden we have. The line is very sturdy and fits a really good amount on. I have got 2 big loads on the line and it holds it well, not wobbly at all.

We bought the box cover and I’m so glad we did, it keeps the line dry and protected, keeps the line tucked away out of sight when not in use and looks very stylish.

We’ve had lots of comments from people visiting asking where we got it from.

Also the make, Brababtia is very reliable and trustworthy, their guarantees are great.

This product is a gem of engineering and design. Simple to install and Brabianta provides all the fittings. including rawl plugs and a spanner device. There is a template provided on the box and the instructions get you to a great result in no time. Definitely need a hammer drill and masonry bit though, in my opinion. Once installed it operates beautifully and simply and packs away neatly so the garden is not cluttered with an ugly old fashioned line. This review provided by an old single bloke not normally given to panting positive reviews of domestic products. You will need a woman handy though to provide practical advice on positioning and height.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this 5 years ago so enough time in use to give a accurate review. Fixed the dryer to side of garage which luckily faces South West Found the installation OK but some may require 2 people to hold it in place. In use it is brilliant at drying because out garage wall gets very warm and reflects the heat back onto the washing so on hot sunny days dries very quickly. In use it will take most items but not really suitable for bedding. It opens easily and collapses to wall with no problem. Minor downsides are line could do with being thicker as standard pegs don’t grip well. Also the cover has “bleached” but is still intact. Family members were so impressed with this compared to rotary dryers that they have also purchased this item. Amazed no one else has copied this design.Note the dryer can be expensive but have found that it fluctuates between 50 & 80 so worth watching out for when it is on offer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNew decking meant that our rotary clothes line line didn’t fit any more and the Brabantia Wallfix was a more elegant solution. Full fitting instructions are supplied along with wallplugs and screws. The box has a template printed on it, with the fixing holes already punched out. The Wallfix fixing holes have to be drilled into the brick, not the mortar, so you need a 8mm masonry bit. It is fixed to the wall by long hex-headed screws, they do supply a suitable box-spanner but a 10mm socket with a ratchet handle is much quicker. Fitted as per the instructions the clothes line is very secure. The metal cover is very easy to fix as it just clips on once some plastic inserts are pushed in. The clothes line appears strong and durable, it’s easy to pull out and put away and the box makes for a tidy installation. Whilst not big as our rotary line we found that it was big enough for sheets and the 24m of line sufficient.

This is my second Brabantia WallFix retractable Washing Line. I bought my first one nearly 10 years ago and used it day in, day out from early spring until October every year. The concept is simple but fantastic. The mechanism can be pulled out single handed and only takes 10 seconds to fold back when finished.
I have my washing line wall mounted on the side of the house and when not in use it is folded back and covered with a well fitting hood (staying in place with press buttons). Not only is this the only wall mounted washing line I’ve come across, the quality and concept are (as always with Brabantia) outstanding. Well made and very sturdy and even comes with a 5 year warranty.

I didn’t hesitate to replace my old Brabantia after all this time, I got so much use out of it that it was and is money well spend.

I still can’t believe how quickly the product was delivered, I ordered one evening and the parcel arrived the next day. Thank you Amazon!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHad the garden done and artificial grass, and told Mrs H I didn’t want the washing line stretching across my 8k project. Didn’t want a washing line pole gouging up my Namgrass either.
This actually is brilliant and she loves it. It is much smaller than expected to look at, but gets more on than the old washing line.
Neatly folds up and has a good quality cover which press studs onto it to keep it in place. Very smart and doesn’t ruin the look of the garden at all, when it is open all the washing is now in a corner away from the garden/ grass.
Opening/ closing is very simply on a cantilever system just one pull and one push.
Mine did not come with a template for the wall holes, so quite difficult to measure exactly and drill into the hard bricks of our house, needed to borrow an SRS drill.
Overall, would highly recommend this- the washing strung across the garden used to irritate me before we had it done, it would have driven me mad now, this is the answer. Wish we had got one years ago as it is the most aesthetically pleasing manner in which to hang your washing I have ever seen.

Golden Review Award: 190 From Our UsersWe have had the product two months and it has always been tricky to collapse. However today I collapsed it and bent one of the supports (see photo) the result is a useless piece of aluminium and frustratingly its out of the 30 day returns. Be very careful when considering buying this product. If its tight or stiff to collapse then send it back straight away.

    Update
Well I have just bought another ! Because I have not found anything quite like it on the market.
I now know why I broke the line, simply because I tried closing it by pushing it towards the wall. The line should be closed by lifting the line upwards, it then collapses itself. The instructions are adequate but both myself and my wife misunderstood the instructions supplied.

I have changed the rating to 4 stars from 2 stars. I would have been 5 stars but I feel the instructions could be made clearer, reading the reviews I am not the only one to make this costly mistake.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have wanted this item for some time, thinking the extra money for the metal cover was too much for me. The plastic cover that is available would have perished very quickly from past experience. So, I have waited to afford the whole item.
It arrived on time and the packaging was secure and easy to open.
I fixed it to the wall using the template provided and the fixings that were all included in the package. They were of good quality and the job was easy to complete without help. (nobody too help) The metal cover appeared to be a little flimsy at first, but its doing the job and I have opened and closed it a number of times now. Visitors seem to need to look at it. The line affords a good amount of drying space, got a full 7Kg load easily hung out.

I was hesitant about buying this because of the price but decided to give it a go based on other reviews and the length of the warranty. I feel this has been a good buy. Although it does not rotate clothes dry just as well. I have limited strength in my arms yet find it easy to open and close. I easily get a full load of washing on the dryer including king size bedding. It was fitted to the wall in under 5 minutes and basically if you can use a drill you can do it yourself although I didn’t:).
I really can’t think of anything negative to say about this washing line.

This product saves space and does exactly what I need. I felt it was worth paying for the stainless steel cover – it makes all the difference to the way it looks – very smart and unobtrusive. Visitors who have never seen one before are unfailingly impressed, as I was when I first spotted it in use at a friend’s house. It is easy to open and close and offers plenty of hanging space. I always have confidence buying Brabantia products, as their quality is undisputed – and their customer relations service is second to none. Maybe the only drawback with the airer is that it is of necessity static, unlike rotary dryers which blow round in the wind, so washing takes a bit longer to dry. However its convenience, neatness and ease of use make up for that.

I wasn’t sure about this before I fitted it. It’s quite a lot of money and not very big )in terms of area to hang washing). In the end it is fabulous. We have it mounted on a very narrow strip of wall next to a gutter downpipe. It fits away really snugly, has it’s own elasticated bag and is easy to use. It wasn;t so easy to mount, mainly because there was no real template for drilling and my motar was alway sin the wrong place! Once it was fitted it was fine and cant take a whole load at once. Brillint, if space is tight and high enough away from kids playing underneath.

My son mentioned this type of rotary styled line so after some further research I purchased the Brabantia WallFix Wall Mounted Retractable Washing Line with Fabric Cover which came complete with fittings and am SO pleased with it! The unit came promptly and looks really neat on the wall in my garden. The fabric cover looks well made and stretches around the closed line with two poppers to secure it so should keep it somewhat protected from the elements! When the cover is removed, it is easy to open the line with one hand although takes a couple of goes to get used to gently pushing up enough for it to lock in and holding firmly when closing so it goes back smoothly. The spring action is quite strong although will probably loosen up a little with use.

Once open, the washing line certainly managed a small load without a hitch. Will see how it gets on with a larger load, but it looks pretty sturdy and capable of holding a large load or two depending on the item weight! It is very easy to use, sits neatly against the wall and saves so much space in the garden when not in use! Very pleased!

Following our house extension and new patio, a casualty of the build was losing our long garden clothes line. Ideally, we wanted something that we could use on the patio, but we didn’t want this to be a permanent, ahem”feature”! I came across the WallFix unit whilst looking for another recommended product, which was not suitable. The WallFix reviews were nearly all 5*, and it looked great and so we purchased this together with the Stainless Steel cover (also reviewed on Amazon). Well, the WallFix IS excellent; it’s smart and discrete when it’s folded, very practical in use as it actually has more useable line than our old garden line, is a really clever design but is also easy to open and close, is pretty simple to install (yes, you will need an electric drill and an 8mm masonry drill) and is fabulously well-made, so it ticked all the boxes and is exactly what we wanted. Yes, it’s expensive for a washing line, but it looks great together with the waterproof Stainless Steel cover and with this protecting the lines and hardware in the winter, it looks like it’ll last a very long time.

If you are limited for space as we are, this is the perfect solution. I was dubious because let’s face it, it is a lot to pay for a washing line and when it arrived I thought the casing seemed a bit lightweight, but it works. The only reason it loses a star is for the catch, which if there is a strong wind that buffets the casing (which we often get as we back on to open countryside) it can come open and if the casing flaps about can be damaged. However, this was quickly remedied with a couple of strips of Velcro, one at the top and one at the bottom; dead easy to pull to open but hold very strong when closed.

After 5 years my other half says it still works perfectly and looks as good as the day it was delivered.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the second one of these I have bought as I moved house and left the first one behind. I didn’t buy the metal cover this time though because I found that is didn’t stay closed if it was windy but clanked against the wall until my husband fitted an elastic belt around it.

As I’ve come to expect from Brabantia, it is very well made and looks good. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes to be able to hide their washing line. The provided cover, although not quite as aesthetically pleasing as the metal one, serves the purpose and doesn’t fly open in the wind.

I bought this washing line because I didn’t want a washing line out all the time in the garden, I liked the idea of being able to put it away out of sight. It’s really convenient and when it’s folded away you don’t even notice it, I have the one with the steel storage box & it blends in with the surroundings.

I like it because it keeps the line clean when it’s folded away. The only downside is, I also have a long pull out line attached to the side of my wall for big sheets. I’m not sure big sheets would fit on this very well and dry. Although I haven’t tried.

I would definitely recommend this washing line.

We put down a new lawn in the garden last year and had previously used a clothes dryer that went in the ground. This year we didn’t want to spoil the new grass and so bought this item, after a recommendation from a friend, and absolutely love it! It is very light weight but holds a full machine wash no problem. you can tell when you take it out the box it’s well made, before we got it I was slightly under confident about how strong it was, suspended from the wall made me feel a bit unsure, but as I say it is very sturdy.
The main difficulty is that it doesn’t spin, but it’s a price worth paying. Folds away very neatly and most people who come into the garden don’t even notice it on the wall while its folded away and everyone is impressed with it when its in use, especially my neighbour!!
I would definitely recommend this item, well worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersYou know the scenario if you live in a modern house, there’s no real place to string a washing line, so you end up buying a whirly line that sticks in a hole in the ground. During the honeymoon period it all works and then a gust of wind sends your perfectly placed whirly line askew, and from then on it’s a losing battle.

I bought this wall mounted dryer to avoid the above problems that have plagued my current installation for years, it got to the point that the washing was on the ground more than on the line.

Anyway, this product fits to the wall with a sturdy bracket, and four large bolts. You will need a decent drill and bit to get this on the wall firmly, and I found that I had to mark and drill the top two holes, fix the bracket to the wall, then mark the bottom two holes, remote bracket, drill, and repeat bracket installation, but apart from that fiddly experience of not being able to see the bottom holes that well the install was fine.

Once on the wall you basicall pull the unit out and it extends into a decent sized line that can hold a fair amount of clothing, when your finished you release the catch and it folds perfectly back into place and takes up no standing room in your garden.

It comes with a cover to hide it away when not in use and to protect it from the ravages of the british weather.

So far it’s a really good product.

The Brabantia Wallfix is what we have been looking for to make use of this area without having a washing line in the main garden. When not in use, stores neatly in the storage box.
Our daughter was so impressed, she ordered one for herself the following day.
We visited our son and his wife in Australia in January. When they saw a photo of ours in use, they said it was just what they needed for winter drying under the canopy in their pool area. It would fold neatly away when not needed. They asked if we could send them one from the UK.

I purchased this to fix on a side wall of my garage (indoors – this is Britain after all) It was very easy and quick to fit using the template provided though you will need a drill. The fixed construction opens out in a click-clack movement creating a multi-sided spider web-like washing line which is sturdy and solid. It easily takes two full washing machine loads and is easy to access from all angles if you take care to position it where there is space. As it is completely clear from the ground, I sometimes pull an oil radiator under the washing line to speed up the drying process as I could never get two washloads in the drier.
The best thing is that once the washing has been collected you just push the construction back onto the wall where is sits like a neat vertical arm. It comes with a high quality nylon cover that clips on with giant press studs which tuck in the washing lines and make it look very neat and compact. You could really put this anywhere with a bit of space – conservatory, bathroom… although ideally they are meant, I think, to go on a sunny outside wall. However you choose to use it – brilliant product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMoving house was the ideal excuse to purchase this product. I like the freshness from drying outside but as the weather got windy just popping the clothes horse outside meant smalls being blown round the garden. Also, I don’t like the look of a rotary in the garden making the wall fix ideal. It’s just there for when you need it but neatly tucked away in its cover (though it does look a bit like a giant slug on the wall!) meaning the line doesn’t get dirty and it takes about 30 seconds to get going.

We found it a bit of a fiddle to put up as one of us had to hold the dryer while the other screwed it into place but the first load is out now and there is plenty of room had I done a second wash. Unlike a rotary, you can’t just spin the dryer to move to the next section to peg stuff out but it’s not a big deal and no more fiddly than using the clothes horse.

As you’d expect with a brand such as Brabantia, the product is well designed and thought through – the cover even has poppers to snap onto the side of the mounting to keep it really secure. It’s those little details that tell you so much about the quality.

This is a fantastic product, very neat and tidy and folds away so it is hardly noticeable.
It is easy to put up and seems strong. It is great if you don;t want to be looking at a washing line all the time. This is a great product for anyone with a small garden or terrace. My only complaint is the cover, the cover is a great idea and it makes the product very tidy when not in use. However on putting my cover on for the first time and using the press studs that attach the cover to the wall mounted part one of the poppers flew off. This means that one side can not be securely fastened. Can amazon advise if they will replace the cover?
All in all a great product but at the price it is you want everything to be right even the cover.

Space saving at its best ,no more untidy lines or props ,top quality alloys used to make it
and no sharp burrs anywhere . Also there is a template provided to drill the 4 bolt holes to
    fix it to the wall
When it is fully out and locked in place it feels solid enough to swing on ,when you have
finished using it pull it towards you then let it fold itself away flush to the wall where it
sticks out just around 4 inches then put on the cover and it looks really neat .If possible
fit it to a south facing wall as when the sun is out the washing will be dry before you have
finished your next load , will hold at least 2 full loads . This is the second one purchased
as i have just fitted one for my mother in law .Highly recommended.

This washing line offers you all the benefits of a rotary line, without any of the hassle of having to shove a pole in the middle of your lawn.
You do, however, have to affix it to a wall, but this is really straightforward as the line comes with all the necessary bits and good instructions, including a template for marking up where you need to drill. All you’ll need is the drill. Oh, and by the way, this template is on the inside of the box, so don’t rip up the box when opening.
Once fitted, the line is easy to open, and comes with a cover to protect it when it is not in use. This cover fits over very easily, attaching with press studs.
There is plenty of space to hang a washing-machine full of washing, if not more.
Just make sure you position it somewhere that the sun will hit it, and that you can get round all four sides, as it doesn’t spin.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis dryer is fantastic! Well made and sturdy. Easy to fix to external wall – just drilled four holes using template enclosed and used screws/fixings provided. Extremely compact when folded away – which is easy to do – and very spacious when open. Definitely the best airer I have ever had, it beats walking up and down the garden pegging up a long line of washing, it beats a rotary airer and getting bashed on the head when it catches the wind unexpectedly, it beats a clothes horse which collapses or gets blown away. It is quite simply the best! The cover is a very snug fit, slightly elasticated and just pulls over the collapsed airer. Some reviews mention not being able to hang large items like sheets, but I’ve not had any trouble, even with king-size duvet covers.

I had looked at this airer on several sites before finally purchasing with Amazon and their price was around 30 cheaper, so a very good bargain for an excellent product. Delivery was prompt and hassle free – as has always been my experience with Amazon. Now I look forward to hanging out the washing! How sad!!! I would thoroughly recommend this product as a good buy.

If you have limited space or don’t want a permanent rotary dryer in the lawn or patio, then this dryer is a better alternative in my view.It would suit courtyard style gardens where a wall is handy but there is not much ground area for a conventional design. Fixing instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Very unobrusive when folded away and it gives a good length of line when unfolded.
There are some quibbles. The plastic used and the design for the joints does not lend confidence. One of the joints was broken on delivery of the first unit. Only longer-term use will prove if they are up to the job. Also, the tension in the lines is rather slack so when heavy items like towels are hung, the lines sag more than I had expected. Be sure that the mechanism is locked correctly when unfurling the dryer, listen and feel for a positive click.
Well finished in silver anodized aluminium and black plasic.
The main plus point is the neat way in which it all folds up into its cover in an unobtrusive way.
