Love the hot cup!
I’ve had mine for Ila bout 6 or 7 years and still going strong – got this one for my dad as love it so much! Takes about a min to boil.. and I always forget so I come back to a brewed cup of tea ready for milk to drink.
When I got it I timed 5 cups to a kettle of 5 cups and it was quicker!! Definitely recommend one! This one has the adjustable cup size which is great as all cups are different sizes!
Speedy cuppa
Impressed with how quickly a cup of coffee was made and knowing I’ll be saving money on electricity too
Great kettle
The volume Guage is a little difficult to get to grips with, but great as soon as you know
Brilliant kettle.
Can’t fault it,boils a cup of water for tea/coffee in around 30-40 seconds ,you can set the amounts accordingly to your cup size.
Love i
I love this but I have to be honest its not what I thought it was as thought you put your cup on the tray press the button and hot water came filtering out straight away abit like a percolator but it starts to boil like a kettle so for quickness I just don’t fill the water to the maximum. Still quicker than a kettle though.
Excellent produc
Very pleased with it, I do find it too heavy to fill from the tap (fill it with a jug on the worktop) otherwise faultless.
Clever desig
Bought this to replace a Bosch single cup that expired after 15 years! The Breville is a clever design that seems to boil the water below the visible reservoir and then under pressure it dispenses. It is very easy to adjust the amount dispensed via a simple control on the top. The water is boiling so great for tea. There is also a manual cut off which is useful if you happen to have put a cup that is too small for the selected amount.
Love it!
Nothing to dislike, so much better than a kettle if you’re only making 1 or 2 cups of tea at the same time. Would recommend!
Grea
Pretty impressed with this does exactly as it says no issues after having it for about a month
Excellent machine
Filters the water and saves time and money by only boiling the amount of water you need to make a hot drink
Quick and easy to use
Quick and easy to use energy efficient, ideal for people on there own,not suitable for family use, looks smart, filters are a bit expensive, all in all love it.
Fantastic
Fantastic way to save money and energy.
Quick push of a button and within seconds disbursed hot water for your cuppa Rosie Lee, stop button if you feel you don’t need as much. Also a small lever for how much hot water you would like.
Very easy to use, once youve inserted the water filter.
Work`s well easy to use
Very pleased with the dispenser, my partner was having trouble lifting our kettle when full so I thought this would be easier, it certainly worked, easy to use once you work out the settings for different cup sizes, boils really fast and tastes great. The only fault it has is that because of the filter it took ages to fill, I bought a jug with a filter and keep it in the fridge, makes filling the kettle easy and you always have cold water to drink.
Just as it says on the box
Who needs a kettle, this is far superior for single use and so much more economical
Brillia
Brilliant idea. A cup of coffee, one at a time. Just the right amount of boiled water. Energy efficient and well designed.
A good gadget for the kitche
Great produc
Love the style of this hot water dispenser.
We had the black one (not brita filter), which was great and lasted us a very long time, but wanted an upgraded. It still has the great features of being able to vary the amount of water for your cup size and you can stop the flow instantly if your cup is very small. Obviously you have to stand there and wait to stop it, which isn’t really a big hassle, because it boils so quick, but we use bigger cups anyway so perfect for us to be able to carry on our business while it boils and brews. It definitely looks the part, very easy to use, clean and change the filter (if it’s the brita filter one).
easy to use
makes life much easier when you can leave your drink ready for morning
Does as said on box
The delivery was poor it’s was not handed to me just left by my front door for world to see. Only reason I looked out of bedroom window was because my dog was barking and the delivery van was pulling away the passenger or assistant delivery man noticed me just as van pulled away and pointed at the door??
If I hadn’t looked out the window I wouldn’t of know it had been delivered I was very annoyed. It wouldn’t of lasted long on the street I live on.
But the item is great and does all that is advertised and definitely a energy saver love it.
Easy to use
Very easy to use except the cup sizes are way off, a bit like goldilocks the small cup is too small and the medium is not much bigger and the big cup just doesn’t do it for me. I like a big mug you know the Sports Direct kind of mug… Dont judge me…mind your business… and I have to press more than once to fill up one of those. Saying that the fact that I don’t have to lift a kettle now is so much easier as I have arthritis. Worth the money? The jury is still out on that, did i just pay 71 for a quick boil kettle, possibly… Time will tell.
So far it is quicker than waiting for a full kettle to boil. A nice looking bit of kit with filter to catch the scummy water we have in this area, so that’s a bonus.
Geart choice for tea
Easy to use and can control the amount of water out.
Great choice for me working from home and can get hot water in just few seconds.
Christmas gif
I ordered this last year for myself and have loved it ever since for hot drinks to making baby formula in seconds. So this year I ordered one for my cousin to use also as his kettle has been leaking. He loves it as much as we do.
Brilliant for that odd cuppa
We had the earlier model of this kettle which we filled from a Britta Jug to prevent scaling. Now. we just have to fill with water and the in-built filter does the rest. Boils just what we need quickly and the tea tastes just right with a great temperature. Well worth buying for use in the homme where you don’t need to make a teapot full!
Does the job!
I needed a product to replace my mother’s kettle as she had broken her wrist and could not lift even the lightest weight, it needed to have a water filter as we live in a hard water area.
This has been a godsend, as mum can now independently make her own drinks again. it’s easy to adjust the amount of water for your cup or mug size, and if you need a large quantity – say to fill a hot water bottle just set it to the maximum, use a jug and boil it twice in succession, hey presto. If you’ve got it set on maximum and you forget and are just using a small cup (ahem, oops) just press the Stop button (just remember that the next time you use it you will need to press the Start button more firmly, and then all is back to normal again).
It would be nice to have a simple ‘dispense without boil function’ for when you overfill it.
Both mum and I are very pleased with this purchase.
Last one lasted 5 years
This is our second HotCup after the last one started boiling multiple times and boiling over. But it lasted 5 years, and we loved it so much there could be only one replacement.
We’ve paired ours with smart power switch to turn it into an automatic teas-made for the morning cuppa.
It has the water capacity adjuster which is essential, I had the earlier HotCup once before which didn’t have this and so I really appreciate having it.
Replaces my existing kettle
I really only use my existing kettle for boiling water for cups of tea and coffee. I put just enough water in the kettle each time I boil up. I know someone who has a Breville HotCup water dispenser and I have been impressed with how easy it is to use.
This product is nicely packaged and takes up no more space than a regular kettle. The whole body lifts off for filling, so it will fit under wall hung kitchen cupboards with no problems. It has a continuously variable rotary lever so you can set the desired cup size. Once set up, making a cup of tea is as simple as dropping a teabag in the cup, put the cup/mug under the nozzle, press the button and, hey presto, one perfect cup of tea. The large reservoir capacity means I only have to top it up once every day or so.
If you want to boil water for a large number of cups at once or a teapot, then I would recommend using a regular kettle. Other than that, go get one – it’s a great product.
It will save you money
I like everything about it only boils what you want, and tastes bette
Ideal water heater for a single occupancy kitche
Heats typically the perfect amount for a single cup of water.
Will admit that it would be useful to be able to vary the amount for potential pots of coffee/tea/noodles, but this limits how much heat is provided for 1 cup & therefore in the long term should save on the electricity used to heat water.
Great buy
Was worried this wouldn’t live up to the price. So pleased I took the risk. Bought it as I struggle with joint pains and gripping. I fill this with a small jug when needs topping up so it is always ready to use as the water has filtered. I now don’t have to worry about lifting a heavy kettle to pour. Takes less time to boil than a normal fast boil kettle.
Wouldn’t go back to a standard kettle now. Only downside was the instructions weren’t clear on how to remove full lid. Finally figured out just lifts off if you pull upwards from nearest to the buttons. Didn’t want to force it originally incase I broke a catch somewhere. Would purchase again if needed without hesitation.
What A Lovely Cuppa!
We needed a new kettle and despite being a bit sceptical about whether we’d see any difference, we decided we’d give this a go. Ok, so this is just a kettle with a filter inside it (depending on which version you buy) but there are definite benefits. The kettle takes just 45 seconds to boil a mug of water, but because the kettle dispenses the exact amount of boiled water that you’ve set you can just leave your mug with your tea bag or coffee on the tray, press the dispense button and walk away rather than having to stand, wait and then pour. Being a Brita machine the filter works well, making a nice cup of tea even in a hard water area and it’s a nice looking machine. I would definitely recommend this machine.
Best compliment is when you replace a product with the same product.
When my brother refurbished his kitchen with a hot tap that could produce filtered boiling water to make tea etc. he game me his old Breville Hotcup with Brita filter. I had it for 2 years which would make it nearly 6 years old before it gave out. Since this is the only hotcup maker with a filter I could find on the market, I simply bought a replacement. As a black tea drinker I really see the difference of the filter so look forward to 6 more years of quick easy tea making. With a 40 second production time a kettle will never win on speed or economy. Worth every penny and will save you that back over time.
Great taste, not so great filling of the tank.
I really like the taste of the filtered water for my tea. I drink A LOT of tea so the only downside is the filling of the tank. Because of the filter, I was disappointed at the tank capacity and you have to fill it in stages to allow the water to go through the filter. Just takes longer and is more regular than I had hoped. I’ve also made a bit of a mess but getting used to it. Overall I would recommend.
FINALLY a dispenser that BOILS wate
I bought another brand some years ago but the water was so luke warm that you could stick your finger in the glas and not get burned.
So I had given up hope of ever finding a proper hot water dispenser that actually boiled the water.
But I gave the Breville Brita model a shot and boy, FINALLY proper HOT water for black tea.
Can’t tell you how happy I am.
Ps.
I have 10amp fuses in the kitchen and since this is a 3000w boiler minimum 13amp fuses are recommended.
As long as I don’t have other high watt appliances running at the same time the momentary increase in power consumption by the Breville is ok for me anyway.
Super happy so far.
Nice piece of ki
We bought this for mum who had trouble lifting her kettle and using a separate Brita filter. She has arthritis in the wrists so it seemed a good idea as long as she could use it. We should not have worried. Easy to use, boils nice and hot for tea and the variable flow guage is useful for different sized cups. A Brita filter as part of the kit is also useful if your in a hard water area. she loves it and wouldn’t be without it now. A really worthwhile purchase.
Makes great tea and coffee quickly
This is our third one as there are 7 in this house so gets a lot of use. The machine is great only marked down because filters are always getting air locked and have to be removed and given a good shake
Makes a good cuppa in no time.
We needed a beverage maker for a small office. This works well and so far the results are very good. It is easy to use. There is no odd taste. It boils water to a high temperature. It is easy to clean. The controls are simple to use. The amount of water dispensed is adjustable. You have to remember to adjust it after the previous person but there is an emergency stop if you have your wits about you. There’s an overflow tray so Breville seem to have thought of everything, well done. Great product at a reasonable price. Looks to be well built although time will tell on that score.
Would but agai
Really easy to use and makes a hot drink very quickly only downside is wish it had a bigger water tank. Nice looking machine
This isn't Whoopie Goldberg's copper kettle.
We’ve been using the larger of the original non-filtered models since 2012, it’s gave us good service but the spring on the lid failed about a year ago, and then one of the LEDs failed about a month ago, and what with the years of accrued scale that’s progressively harder to remove (and these devices aren’t the easiest thing to descale), so we decided it probably was due a replacement due to the hassle of prying the lid open.
The filtered edition. The good first. The dispensing section is unchanged, so it seems to boil at around the same speed (probably a little faster given lack of age and scaling etc, but likely not enough to be notice). Stop and Go buttons and cup size are also same. The overflow drain section snaps into place, unlike the other model which merely rests over a nub, so it’s now more secure and makes it easier to move the whole thing to clean around and under it. The filter adds an extra layer of filtering, and we’re trying a dual filter approach, applying already-filtered water, and offsetting the replacement of this one by two week, so at most the water filter is only two weeks old, so we are getting less scaley cups than we would the end of the regular single-filter month cycle. No doubt someone will say double-filtered gives you cancer or makes the Earth square, but we’ll take our chances.
The downside: filling the thing. In our opinion lid is pretty rubbish. The obsession Brita has with the stupid, useless LED meter is baffling. It’s just a dumb 28-day countdown timer, and given the battery in them only lasts a couple of years anyway, and the entire thing is a sealed and as with the jugs, an irreplacable system, they add no value, just e-waste, and get in the way.
Yet in order to accomodate it, absolutely unncessarily in a product whose lifespan should FAR exceed the life of the rubbish meter, Breville have been forced to make the fill opening far smaller. So it’s much harder to fill it than the other models. You can’t really get at it adequately from the side, so you have to over the top of the front control panel and be really methodical; there’s not really any margin of error in one’s accuracy in pouring.
It also seems to have compromised the build quality: I’m not expecting the spring on this one to last nigh-on ten years like our old one did.
Next revision, do away with that damn pointless meter and just make it a robust proper, full-sized lid that is easy to fill. This is, after all, a kettle, not a water jug. And remember, because of the filter taking up a large amount of volume, you need to fill it ~three times as often.
This is a good product, but the replacing our vintage model due to a fiddly broken lid for this one, ironically the filling the thing is only marginally less fiddly.
Double-filtering’s great, but it’s not Angela Lansbury’s copper kettle either.
Does exactly what is says it will do
I love this, the design is great, it is quite heavy and you have to fill the filter several times before you reach the max mark ok the kettle. I had assumed that it would allow you to boil the whole pot at once for when you need a full kettle of hot water but that is not the case. It really is a one cup so I am not sure I would buy another one. I can only assume it is energy efficient as ive only had it a week so havent seen an electric bill ye
Expensive but grea
Works well. No water waste. Filter works fast, no too much hanging around waiting to refill. It looks smart and fairly discreet. It’s costs about a penny per cup. It’s fast. So much faster than a kettle and more quiet. Water filter display is to dark for me but my eyes aren’t young. The cup full knob is excellent. Halfway is 250ml. Perfect for my cup. Not sure what this cup warm thing is. Can’t say I’ve seen it but my cup is warm like any other cup filled with hot water lol.
Very good would recommend
Easier for two people
I love hot cup dispensers, I do find the filling of this a longer process because of the water filter, but we live in a hard water area and the previous dispensers, without a filter, have slowed output and become so inefficient (despite descaling) that we needed to repace them, a family member had a filter in theirs and its lasted 3 of our replacements.
works in a hard water area
A normal Brita helps with our very hard water but a scum on the tea is normal for us. However with the double filtering of filling this machine from a filter jug this has been solved (so far). 2 months in, after a replacement filter (for both) and a limescale treatment we still have pristine tea and coffee. No scum. Highly recommended.
A Revelation in Tea Making
Bought this on a recommendation from our son – and what a difference! Already had a water filter integrated into our kitchen taps so was getting decent drinking water, and the kettle was a better quality one than many, but the combination of this being able to dispense one cup only – along with it having a Brita filter – is so efficient! And the taste is so much better than even our old filtered water it’s like chalk and cheese!
Happy people here!
Best investme
Fantasy item . I love how the water filter is combined with hot cup to hit up as much as you need for a cup of tea instead of the whole water in the kettle.
Another function that I like as well is that you can adjust the amount of water to be heated depending on the size of the cup you’re using.
All in all, very happy with this.
So far so good!
We’ve only had this a week, so may be a bit early to give a throrough review. However, I have been looking for one of these at a decent price for a while and this was the best price I had seen in a while. They aren’t cheap! We’ve had a breville one cup for 3 years and was really happy with it, but we have the worst hard water and it is really difficult to descale it. This seemed like a perfect idea, same convenience but with the built in filter.
So far so good. It seems to be doing the job well. Had a small issue this morning when the cartridge just wouldn’t filter, so had to take it out and give it a rinse off and put it back in. It all seems good again.
This model has the variable cup size which our old one didn’t. That is really helpful and it only took a few plays with it to work out what settings we needed it on for our different cup sizes.
I’ve really noticed the difference between this and our old one with my black coffee. It is hotter and so much clearer.
Obviously there will be an ongoing expense with the Brita cartridges , but I still think it is going to prove a good investment.
Great item, have overcome ongoing expense!
Great product, works well, love the option to adjust the amount of water dispensed to suit various cup sizes. My only criticism is the cost of the replacement filters, we have overcome this by removing the actual filter from the dispenser altogether and installing a filter tap along side our kitchen sink, this was significantly cheaper than buying the Brita filters and mean all our drinking water is filtered not just what we boil!
Good product just not ideal for our circumstances.
Not quite what we were looking for. As an elderly couple, in the end our old kettle was more familiar for day to day use. For a person with vision issues, it may be difficult to see where the fill line is. Otherwise, it was a quality item bought for us as a gift from a relative, but in the end this hot water dispenser was just not ideal for us. The return was easy enough, and the seller was prompt with their refund to our relative.
Perfect worktop space saving and energy saving appliance
This is fantastic. My son is on the autistic spectrum and also ADHD. He makes his own hot drinks but had no attention span so can’t wait for a kettle to boil and will always fill it more than needed and with wondering off it would sometimes need boiling a couple of times. This stops this perfectly to alleviate this as he preps his cup, puts in under and presses the button, in less than a minute his cup is filled and he can finish making his drink. Saves so much on reboils or someone else going in and using the water then him having a meltdown because he’s got to start again. My only quip would be it doesn’t get the water to boiling point, it gets it to 90. Works great for drinks but sometimes I will need boiling water so have to sort it, luckily it’s only rare occasions so it’s something I can live with. For those using it for drinks it’s perfect, just thought I would mention it in case someone looks at getting one and assumes it fully boils the wate
Good instant hot water make
We bought this to replace an old Tefal Quick Cup that broke. It works in a slightly different way but is much quieter, the only downside is you need to keep it topped up to allow time for the water to pass through the filter. We found it easier to keep a one-litre jug nearby and keep topping up with that rather than lugging the entire caddy back and forth to the tap. After a small adjustment we’re quite happy with it, water is always boiling hot and you can dial the precise amount to fill your favourite mug.
Very efficient way of making a Cuppa
I saw this on a few sites and thought what a great idea for my mum. Easy to set up and the water filter is an added bonus. You soon figure out your cup sizes. Breville normally do sandwich toasters hadn’t purchased a kettle or anything of theirs before. However back to the main point my mum finds it very easy to use and she doesn’t need to fill up a kettle when she want to make a cuppa.
Wasn’t the cheapest place to buy it, however the ‘place that never knowingly undersold’ was out of stock.
Ok
I had the one without the brita filter before but a relative borrowed it very long term! This one would also be great if it didn’t take sooooooo long to fill. You have to wait while it filtrrs through and the fill tank is very small so needs many fills to filter down to main tank
ok for onw or two people
I bought this because I was forever filling up the kettle for tea , something I drink a lot of , the appliance works very well , one mug or cup very quickly , the water is hot enough for tea but not boiling so much as a kettle (in my opinion) However I am forever filling this up , I would suggest if you drink a lot of tea or coffee a day buy a larger capacity by water volume , still pleased with i
Definitely warm enough.
We were very wary of this product as we have previously had a “instant boil” kettle before. Also the reviews on here were rather misleading. This version definitely pumps out very hot water. The product information says it doesn’t discharge the water until it’s at 100 degrees centigrade.
Obviously the water can’t be still at 100 degrees when it gets into the cup, however we feel it’s certainly hot enough. This is the VKJ367-01 version, I believe some negative reviews are not based on this model.
Saves time and energy and very convenie
This heater works great for our needs. The adjustable water quantity is really useful, although it is non-linear (sorry, I’m an engineer!). However we soon got the hang of where to set the adjustment knob for our various cups etc. A great time and energy saver that looks good too.
Great for 1 cup at a time
Great for 1 cup at a time saves energy as you don’t have to boil a full kettle , you only boil 1 cup . Easy to adjust level of water to suit the size of cup . Easy to clean and fill, the removable tray catches an excess water and it just clips off to empty .
Brillia
After reading the reviews here on Amazon I had mixed feeling about purchasing this machine, but after shocking the reviews carefully the negative ones were regarding a different model number to this one.
The water is really hot when dispensed and you can make a cuppa and let it cool, it doesn’t have to drunk straight away.
Filling the tank does take a little while but there is enough water filtered through for one cup after 3-5 minutes. I have found simply topping it up after making a brew the easiest way to keep it ready for action!!
I have only had it a few days but I am really impressed with it, no splashing, no over boiling and the improved taste because of the filter is great.
A Good Item
Bought this for my elderly Mother who has arthritis. She can no longer hold a hot Kettle safely. She lives in a hard water area so the filter was essential.
She is very happy with it as she can now have a cup of tea “on the go,” whenever she likes.
The filter means it’s slightly more fiddly to fill, but the pros massively outweigh the cons
Looks good and yet is still functional.
I love this product it looks good and does a great job, I would have given 5 stars, however I have only given four stars as I still haven’t worked out how to stop it from boiling should I change my mind (a normal kettle you just flick the switch to off). I probably just need to sit and read through the instructions again, but other than that it’s a great product and I feel very happy to recommend it.
Very quick to boil water and cost effective .
Arrived well in time, was well packaged .
I gave up on buying ‘normal’ kettles a few years ago as I found them too slow plus they used up a lot of electricity so in my view not cost effective.
The Breville Brita hot cup water heater is stylish , comes with spare filters takes seconds to start boiling . You can choose the size of the cup/mug used.
You can fill it up from the tap or from a jug as it has a flip up lid .
Very easy to use I am well pleased .
Does what it says.
Bit sceptical at beginning, but, after getting used to it for a few days, we love it.. so quick, convenient and easy to use. Only one criticism, needs a bigger header tank because with the britta filter is slow to fill up, so gotta keep it topped up. Otherwise great idea and machine. 1 britta filter lasts up to 4 weeks, so bought 6 extra, not really expensive of amazon. And you get clean filtered water for your cuppa, and reduces limescale which has proven a pain in the models without. 4.5 outta 5
Don't be fooled by an Image
Purchased this to replace my kettle and love the fact that I can boil one cup or more if needed. It boils very quickly so, on that grounds I would say it is energy efficient. I was disappointed however, on on packing it because the water container was shorter and wider than I’d managed; it is not as aseptically pleasing as I had hoped. I have kept it nonetheless and it has grown on me.
I would recommend this product but don’t be fooled by the picture; perhaps it was airbrushed to make it lick slimmer!
Easy to use but not so easy to fill.
Purchased this to replace onecup that has served me well for 7+ years.
Being disabled I find pouring kettles difficult and dangerous, but with these dispensers it’s easy and much safer.
The Breville Brita hotcup is larger than I expected, looks smart, and does the job well. You can easily adjust the volume of water dispensed to suit the size of your cups. It has a built in water filter, which can be removed if you prefer, so I no longer need to faff with separate filter jug. The on button is large and easy to press, and unit lights up so you can easily see it is operating. There is also a larger cancel button.
The only niggle is the lid, this is why I gave 4 stars rather than 5. There is a button that flips up a portion of the lid to enable filling, but the flap limits access and the opening is quite small (I use a jug to fill as unit too heavy for me to carry), while you can remove the whole lid (which would make filling easier) it is difficult to grip it, it would definitely benefit from a handle!
Why didn't I buy one of these years ago?
I have used a kettle through my married life and never really thought about another way to boil water. My kettle started to leak last week and my first action was to look for a replacement kettle. I started to read reviews and saw hot water dispensers, then dispensers with an integral water filter. I purchased one and am delighted with the product. It is quick, easy to use, energy efficient and looks good. My smart meter is very happy!
My main concern that hadn’t been mentioned in any reviews was whether it would fill my travel mug and if the mug would fit. Hurrah! It does! I choose to use my unit without the drip tray (the unit doesn’t drip and I think it looks better this way, plus it takes up less space).
So my travel mug fits and it fills it to the level I would normally fill it.
My second concern was that the water might not be quite boiling and you would get that white film very common with coffee machines dispensing ‘hot water’. Well I’m happy to say that doesn’t happen with this unit. It is the perfect temperature for tea.
The reason I switched from kettles was because I found the second cup after filling the kettle tasted slightly stewed – reminiscent of the old tea urn. This unit tastes fresh every time (I use a filter jug to fill it) and my tea is delicious.
I am so, so happy with this unit. Have recommended it to anyone who would listen!
Filling settings as follows:
lowest setting = 150ml, espresso mug
middle setting = 250ml, standard tea mug

Excellent, works well, filters scale out well.
I bought this because I live in a very hard water area in London, previous hot water cup dispensers also dispense granules of scale into the cup within a few weeks from new. This has been perfect, scale-free cups of water.
The downside is you have to change filters more often than predicted, filters clog up and stop letting water through in about 6 weeks. Buy a pack of new Brita filters to have some spares at the same time you get this machine.
