BRITA P1000 water filter cartridge, compatible with all BRITA filter taps for chlorine and limescale reduction, 1 pack

Convenience and Taste

The most convenient way to enjoy BRITA-filtered water on demand. Features a dedicated tap for BRITA-filtered water. Ideal for cooking vegetables, pasta or soups, and enjoying the best flavour/aroma from your hot and cold drinks.

Long Cartridge Life

The exact lifespan of a P1000 depends on your usage and the hardness of your water. In a hard water area and based on average usage the P1000 cartridge will need changing approximately every 4 months.

Easy Cartridge Exchange

The P1000 fits neatly under the sink (horizontally or vertically) and takes minutes to change. No need to turn off your mains water. Just unlock it using the two blue levers on the side of the cartridge head, pull the old cartridge out and replace it with a new one. Lock the cartridge in place and you are good to go.

Recyclable

Enjoy BRITA-filtered water for just a few pence per litre. Good for your pocket and better for the environment. BRITA products use BPA-free plastic and P1000 cartridges are 100 per cent recyclable.

Tip: Visit the BRITA website to locate your nearest recycling centre.

We have the filter tap a number of years now and you can really tell the difference in the water compared to the non-filtered tap water.

Buying the filter and the tap saves a fortune on bottled water if you’re in an area with bad water and you avoid all the plastic as in Ireland you can send the spent cartridges free of charge for recycling. All in all, a winner.

Well, if you’ve bought into this particular Brita system, this is the filter you must have…
I use it for all drinking water; I live in a very hard water area, but this goes a long way to removing impurities, preserving the life of the kettle and providing a tastable difference to unfiltered.

Water tastes great with this filter very ease to fit. We live in an area with ‘hard’ water so there is a definite unpleasant tang to a cup of tea but with this cartridge it completely disappears and the cup of tea is great!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI used to pick up these rather large cartridges very easily from my local Sainsburys for 45, until they stopped selling them. I just couldn’t find them on sale anywhere else, so I turned to Amazon.
The Amazon cartridges are marginally cheaper than from Sainsburys and appear to be the genuine article.
We get through one of these cartridges every three months, which is something we didn’t know when our plumbing company fitted the tap unit.
Four of these heavyweight cartridges a year starts to become quite expensive, however, I digress and these cartridges are competitively priced and appear to work perfectly.
I will be purchasing more from the same source when the time comes.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersGood, but far too expensive – come on Brita, let’s see some better pricing for us ‘bulk buyers’. I’d also argue that recycling these is a bit difficult – so far haven’t actually managed to get one to recycling, but am hopeful the one we’ve got kicking about in the kitchen right now will be the first. The crazy timer thing you get when they put the tap in is pretty annoying, and mostly gets ignored. I take is as a signal that “I’ll have to replace the filter soon”, rather than do anything right now. I generally replace it when I start to taste a change in the water it produces (around every 4 months it seems in our house).

Fitting is both easy and hard. The fitting under the sink is well designed, and so putting the bottle into it is easy. However, getting the blighter out without making a mess is almost impossible. Inevitably access is somewhat limited, which doesn’t help, but they get wedged in pretty tight so it’s hard to pull them out again.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is one of the best purchases I made. I use brita tap with this filter and I can honestly say that I could not imagine living without it or going back ro filter jug. I was a bit resistant to buying tap and filter kit from brita, as I used the filter jug from them and I wasnt that happy with it. I only decided to get it as it seemed to be a good price comparing to other brands. After trying it out i can say that the filters in filter jug are not even in 10% as good as this one. This filter lasts really long (my last one lasted for 6 months), and you can forget about descailing your kettle every month! (maybe just once a year or every 6 months- when you change the filter. I didnt descale mine for 7 months) and before- when i used filter jug I had to descale the kettle at least once a month. On top of that you have fresh water available all the time, without worrying about filling the filter jug and then waiting for the water to filter. I recently visited my sister and was really annoyed with her filter jug, the wait time, and the condition of her kettle ( and my tea- with small bits of limescale in it). Its definitely worth the money. Best investment in my new home. I attached the photos of my kettle inside- I didnt descale it for 7 months and I live in a hard water area in London.

5stars also toAmazon for the prompt despatch, timely notifications, and all-round slick operation by all staff involved in getting it into the post so quickly.
My one nag is the packing. Way too much; just seal well at all openings, stick on the label and put in the post WHEN the original packing is capable of handling.
Best wishes to all the packing and posting bods, they rarely get a direct mention, whereas the office staff by default carry the honours, usually.

I have just replaced the filter although I purchased a short time ago. The level of limescale is as much as before I replaced it. I have been using these for nearly 9 years and it is the first time that this has happened. Normally there is no evidence of lime scale when a new filter is installed. Very disappointed, particularly as they are quite expensive.

  81. Lauren Hubbard says:

Fitted a Brita MonoBloc tap with an integral filter line. My water is not particularly hard so it lasted 6 months before I renewed. I judge the effectiveness by how much scale builds up in the kettle as I fill from the filitered water line. If we use unfiltered water we notice scale build up within a couple of weeks but to date there has been very little scale so I guess we could have gone a little longer with the old cartridge. The tatse is certainly better on its own or with Squash, Tea, Coffee etc. This has proven to be better than the jugs as it is convenient and you do not run out waiting for a new jug of water. However based on Maxtra Cartridges it does work out at twice the price. On balance I feel it is worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was less than pleased to see the price of these but have to say that they do a very impressive job and I have no regrets at installing an Online Active Plus, even if the 3-months timer supplied with it is a bit of a nonsense (Completely agree with Loulou on that). The thing that really won me over is the removal of limescale, something our previous filter made no attempt at. A couple of months on from installation, our new kettle is completely scale-free. Previously we had to descale the kettle regularly and clean its filter almost daily.

I do feel Brita could, at the price, find a better way of indicating when a cartridge change is needed. Nevertheless, if you value good-tasting water, and especially if you have hard water, I’d strongly recommend this system. The system itself and replacement cartridges in particular are over-priced, though, so one star deducted.
