This thing is amazing. I bought it to check the temps in my baby Burmese pythons enclosure. I found the temps in her warm hide were too high so it’s helped me be a better snake keeper. Not just that though, I also found out my fridge was too warm with this so I changed the power setting. You don’t realise how many things you need this for until you get it. I’m not sure how they make these so cheap tbh.

Excellent tool for checking temperatures. I have used it to test efficiency of double glazing and other insulation, looking for cold spots on walls and ceilings, checking temperature of hot milk from the microwave, the run of central heating pipes under a floor, electrical cables under heavy load. The laser is bright enough to see in daylight (unlike my old laser level) – It has earnt pride of place in my toolbox along with my Bosch Multitool.

The best thing I have ever bought! Addictive to use- excellent at finding draughts round door and window seals,cold spots, radiator temps. On the day it arrived used to reasonably accurately measure poorly 18 month old grandson’s temperature underarm- led to successful A&E treatment for ear infection. Excellent value. You will wonder how you did without one!
Excellent tool. Allowed me to find cold spots in a new garage conversion and work out where airflow and insulation need adjusting.
Imagine what it would have cost to get a builder in to do the same…………not to mention the potential to be ripped off.

Great Little Device
Great little device. Simple to get going, once you’ve snipped off the cellophane covering the battery.
Bought for my wood burning pizza oven, Haven’t tried it on that yet, but trialled the temperatures of things around the house. Would recommend.
Good product at a good price
Decent product, we just had under floor heating installed with screed poured on top. The screed supplier suggested floor temperatures to help dry the screed. We are then having wood flooring installed on top and again the flooring supplier has warned us that floor temperature should not exceed 27 degrees at any time. Therefore keeping a close eye on the temperature is important. This little device is brilliant and highly recommend it.
Item arrived ahead of schedule and was well packaged. It is very well made, robust and excellent quality at a good price. I have used it to good effect for checking the temperature differential across central heating radiators whilst balancing the system. It is very easy to use and I would highly recommend it without hesitation.

Very easy to use and seems reasonably accurate. Bought to measure the temp on my radiators which I will do over next couple of days. Can think of lots of applications for example testing cold spots around doors etc for draft proofing.

Worked fine, no way of knowing if it’s completely accurate, but seemed that it was to me. Was useful for identifying surfaces where insulation was needed.
Excellent for balancing central heating radiators
I needed a thermometer to balance central heating radiators and this is perfect for the job. This needs the temperature difference between inlet and outlet on each radiator to be set to 12 deg C by adjusting the lockshield valves. All I had to do was point this device at the radiator surface near the pipe unions (avoid chrome reflective surfaces like the valves) on each side and open the lockshield slowly to get a 12deg difference.
A plumber suggested this and it is much cheaper than installing unreliable thermostatic valves. Device is easy to use and well made.

Bought primarily for measuring water temperature of a rented property for Legionella risk. I’ve only had this for a few days and was amazed during the recent snow spell, that it measured the roof temperatures of a house some 100 yards away. Very well made and presented.
Time will tell but feel very confident about it.
I bought this item, because marking of temperature on my oven is invisible and all my attempts to master some french desserts would end up with poor results. With this device i finally manage to identify and set the right temperature for my baking. Keep in mind, that it shows the temperature of the surface, not the air. Any way – i was unable to enjoy this device long enough. It appeared that my dad was dreaming about laser thermometer for some time. He had tried mine and enjoyed it so much so i gave it away as a early Christmas present. I might buy another one for myself soon. Overall – it is a good product, it does the job and is very easy to use.
This Laser Heat Sensor by Etekcity does what it says on the tin. It accurately tells you temperatures of a large number of objects. I have tested the accuracy and mine was very accurate. It helps to use it when balancing central heating radiators. It is simple to use. Press the trigger and it will record the maximum temperature or press the button and get an instant reading. I bought this to test my oven’s accuracy – it proved that it was overheating, but with this I could recalibrate. Now I also use it to monitor my fridge temperature. Excellent value for the money.

Easy to use and responsive (0.5 seconds to get a spot reading). Laser on to pinpoint area of interest and backlight if required. I’m going to use it to check my car disc brakes are ok (I think they’re sticking a bit) and to compare temperatures from disc to disc.
Press the trigger for ~1 sec and release and you get a spot reading – the temperature is displayed for a while. Device will auto shut off when not in use. Hold the trigger and keep it pressed and you get a constantly updated temperature – useful for scanning a wall for hot/cold spots.
Battery is easy to install and it comes with the Lasergrip in a reasonable, small cardboard (screen printed) cardboard box. The manual is straightforward and in English (not “chinglish”) and other languages. I had a 5 gift token (from elsewhere) so I topped up with a tenner.

Pleasantly surprised at how good this is. I bought it to find out where the heat escapes through the roof of our bungalow, it has more than proved its worth in that respect.

I got this for work, it is for checking steel temperature both for welding and painting inspections, it is good for quick and accurate reading, had to be calibrated which cost more than the thermometer

Understand emissivity before you use this produc
As with all infra red temperature indicators the radiant heat is dependent on the surface emissivity of the object and not a direct measurement of actual temperature, this device has a preset emissivity compensation of 0.95 which is good for many materials ie black metals and ceramics etc but gives incorrect measured temperature for reflective materials such as polished metals etc on polished stainless steal at an actual temperature of 98c it indicated 43c.

Brilliant, just point the red dot, and it tells you the temperature, tested light bulbs, floor, kettle, cup of tea, even used it for jam making (that was what it was actually bought for!) Works great and comes with battery. Wife finally has a gadget of her own, but I use it more for useless stuff!
This thermometer was purchased specifically to check temperatures of vehicle components but has proved generally useful around the house, particularly in the kitchen. The laser pointer is particularly useful to identify the spot that is being monitored because it is noticeable that some equipment, e.g. ovens, can show a surprising variation in temperature in different areas. When checked at the classical standard temperatures of melting ice and boiling water this thermometer has proved to be accurate – Recommended.

I drive hgv vehicles for a living and have had a problem with trailer wheels over heating so instead of putting my hand against the wheel and burning myself I use this and this week I refused to use a trailer because the temp was way to much due to defects thanks to this item I won’t be having any blowouts or done by the plod
Does a great job
I bought this to measure the temperatures of my 3D printer and I have to say it does a great job. My prints have improved after finding that the build platform and extruder weren’t actually has hot as the printer reported (a common problem with my printer).
No complaints at all, I can’t think of any cons with this device. I’d recommend to anyone.

I bought the Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 thermometer specifically to use when doing water changes in my aquarium. It is important not to shock the fishes with a temperature change. I did use a digital immersion thermometer but this took too long waiting for the temp to set.
The Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 gives me an instant reading. When starting I take a measurement of the surface temp of the water and compare this with the tank thermometer. As the water is continuously agitated there is no more that 0.1C difference. I can then adjust the temperature in the bucket to match. It is so quick and time saving.
I am sure I will find other uses for it but at the moment it is just great for my fish maintenance.

I bought this product to give an indication of the temperature inside my newly constructed pizza oven. Providing you wait until the flames have died down it gives an instant readout of the oven walls and roof temperature. The laser light is very good for indicating the centre of the area being measured. I’m very pleased with the ease of use and particularly the way the reading is locked on the screen when the trigger is released. All in all an excellent product.
My digital thermometer arrived the day after I ordered it. I have never used an infrared thermometer before but they seem so much cleaner and easier to use than the jam thermometers and so I thought I would give it a try. It has a sturdy build and came with instructions which were easy to follow. I haven’t yet used it for the purpose it was bought for but have measured the temperature of a number of things around the house (my cup of coffee etc.) to make sure it was working OK. It worked perfectly. The product also comes with a 2 year guarantee so all’s good.

Didn’t really need one but had seen it before and was impressed with the description and user rating so left it in my wish list. Recently bought it on an offer but wasn’t expecting too much for the price, but very pleased with it. Its very good quality and definitely worth the money and a handy tool to have. I’ve only tested it on a few things so far but seems accurate and already coming up with other uses, like fridge, freezer checks, cold spots on Windows, etc. Not an every day device but a great thing to have for those one-off’s and can’t go wrong for the price with a 2 year guarantee as well. Only reason not a 5 is I can’t say how it compares with other more expensive devices.

So I blame the Prime day “sales” for the purchase of this product – don’t get me wrong – it was cheap and a good bit of kit, but I’ve never needed to use a thermometer before and I certainly didn’t need a non contact one – so I’m not sure why I ended up buying this ! On the bright side – If I ever need one – I’ve now got one !
Having said that – it’s a good bit of kit – soft grip textured handle which opens up to find the battery compartment complete with a shrink wrapped 9V battery inside waiting to be connected. If you haven’t connected a 9V battery before then don’t panic it’s very easy – on the connector you will see two types of connector – one for each terminal – you will see two matching ones on the battery – what you need to do is make sure the opposite looking ones connect (one on the battery and one on the terminal) and if you’ve got it right then the battery should audibly SNAP onto the connector.
Once this has been completed, you can GENTLY but firmly place the now connected battery and connector back into the empty area – don’t worry if you have to push slightly firmly against the pad at the top of the compartment – this is normal – just make sure you don’t rip any of the cables loose.
Similarly when it comes to disconnecting the battery from the connector (to stop accidental battery run down), use gentle force to pry them apart otherwise you might rip the wires from the connector.
For the couple of times that I used it the temperatures that were returned seemed accurate, but I didn’t have any type of calibration items to check and this isn’t one of those highly accurate units that would cost a lot more to buy, so use judgement when taking measurements.

I bought this for finding hot-spots in a server room but it also has other uses including verifying a domestic oven really is at the temperature it is set to, the temperatiure of a hot water heater, etc. Small and light with a soft rubber finish that is both comfortable to hold and prevents it sliding on a shiny surface, it is very easy to use with readings available in a fraction of a second. The backlight feature is bright and the small manual included with it contains quite a lot of detail, explaining distance to spot ratio, etc. This is a nice product at a surprisingly low price.

Had it a week so far to test the temperature of my wood oven. Seems to work great, impressed at that price. Can’t comment on the accuracy as nothing to compare temps against so i suppose the reading could be way off, but i doubt it as it feels like pretty quality build in the hand. Like the screen and the fact laser can be turned on and off. The temp does seem to vary depending on the distance you hold the device to point you are measuring but that is understandable, as greater distance will result in more interference and less accurate reading. Been interesting pointing it at clouds and sky which also provide readings so quite impressed with that.
All in all – got to say it’s pretty good piece of kit for the price and quality.

It is not an extremely accurate cooking thermometer as you have to stir and then the temp will go up and down a little due to the movement, but especially with yogurt I only needed a rough temperature measure. My boyfriend was also happy to see that I bought this, as he had been meaning to get one for a while for when he’s working on cars or other situations where he might need it. All in all a win-win, and a good price!

Great piece of kit, gives instant readings and appears to be very accurate. It feels very comfortable in the hand and is covered in a soft ‘tactile’ silicone type material. Readout is clear and ability to swap between F & C is good.
I highly recommend this product & would buy again.

Yes it’s lots of fun to point, shoot, and see the temperature but it’s also very useful and gives a decent reading. Recommended!
Very easy to use
The instrument is well made with a very tactile finish. Gives a quality feel, especially for the price.
Very easy to use. I bought it partly to check the temperature variations over the area of my radiators, which it does only too well (they need flushing).
Don’t expect it to measure the temperature of a 15mm copper pipe, simply because the field of view is much bigger than the pipe. This would not be a reasonable use in my opinion. But walls, radiators, freshly baked bread, well almost anything within reason, except people.
Although it doesn’t have a case, it comes in a sturdy cardboard box with a blow moulded interior, which is quite adequate unless you want to kick it around the floor in the rain !

Feels sturdy, no nonsense, right price
Clean, basic interface. It gives us a temperature in a fraction of a second, with a nice precision.
We mainly bought it because I was fed up of taking the temperature of the bath for my children/newborn with a ‘baby bath thermometer’, same price for a piece of plastic that takes 10 minutes to update to the actual temperature of the bath.
Very happy with the purchase, plan on using it to get temperatures when I’m working on my motorcycle or to ensure my pan is at the right temperature when making crepes.
I’m amazed that you can get something precise for that price, feels like we are in the 21st century.
I bought this for testing vehicle temperatures before wrapping and applying graphics and for post heating vinyl to 100degs.
I’ve compared it to my more expensive Sealey one (2 actually!) and although its a couple of degrees out it does the job for me.
I’m not sure if I’d buy it if I needed 100% accuracy but a few degrees is acceptable for me.
It works the same as all the others I’ve had and is comfortable for long uses as how I use it.
You can turn the laser pointer off and it holds the temp when you let the trigger go.
Not bad at all, decent buy for the money.

Well made and very useful infra red thermometer with an inbuilt targetting laser. Excellent customer service who emailed me a few days after delivery just to check everything was ok with it. No hesitation to fully recommend this unit.
Not had it long enough to evaluate how accurate/useful it is. It is very nice to hold because of the satin none slip handle. The text is clear and the controls are simple. The inclusion of a battery is thoughtful.
I found opening the flap on the handle, to insert the supplied battery a struggle. On the picture of the 800 that I can see as I write this it is very obvious where to grip and pull; however, to me the squeeze point is too subtle and requires to much force to open.

I was impressed with the service and packaging and once unwrapped the product is solid and would appear as though it is a durable item.
I have only taken a few readings to get the operational parameters of some tumble drier thermostats which I want to replace and avoid paying extraordinary prices for from dedicated machine spares shop when these thermostats can be got for pennies if you know what they are set at.It worked well.I have used similar items in my work in the construction industry and know they have many uses when surveying anything to do with heat loss or production and help avoid drilling holes in underfloor heating pipes I am sure it will remain a very useful tool to have in my kit.Well worth the money.

I purchased this item based on the user reviews and 5 star rating on Amazon and being some what cynical by nature I prepared myself for disappointment, however I’m pleased to say in this case the rating is justified .
I bought it to help with balancing our central heating radiators so was less concerned about the absolute accuracy of the temperature measurement as the relative temp difference between lock shield and TRV and this item made the exercise a doddle.
The build quality is good and the ergonomics are spot on. The laser means that you can easily hit a 10 mm pipe and the back light makes it very easy to read.

Works perfectly. Great price for something that I should have in the cupboard forever. Quality and accurate bit of kit.
Bought this as we use similar in work. I don’t actually need it but I’m a bloke who likes gadgets. I’ve checked temperatures of walls, floors, windows, stuff cooking, fridge, freezer and the back of my throat. The laser is brilliant for excersising the cats as they’re stupid enough to chase a little red dot around. I wouldn’t advocate pointing it at passers-by or hovering police helicopters, that would be very stupid.
Love this. I got it for checking the bed temperature of my 3D printer. It is very accurate and very easy to operate, just point and click and it holds the reading until you click again. If you keep the trigger pressed without release it gives you a running read out which is very handy.
I absolutely love this, I am a gadget freak but it is really handy around the house and for other things. Yesterday we were laying a patio in the garden but we couldn’t because according to the thermostat it was only 1 and we needed 2 degrees for the pointing to set. Last night I used it to check the heat in the pan for my steak before I put it in at around 300 odd. But most importantly my cat is 20. Lol It’s funny how are you suddenly want to know the temperature of everything. I’ve checked it against other thermostats and they’re all max 0.5 difference between them which is very slim so I assume it is pretty accurate. Worst way, it makes a great laser gun! ha ha Ps this is a totally impartial review because I wasn’t offered any deals to make this.

Works a treat. Lets you hold, turn the laser on and off, and also turn the backlight on and off. No actual powerswitch on it because it turns itself off. Months later I’m still on the same set of batteries so thats good!
I bought this to check oven temps, and it works very well. However its a bit habit forming as I have now checked the fridge, freezer, radiators (to balance them) found cold spots in the house and temp of wifes feet?????
The unit seems to be well made and good quality, simple to use and accurate with an excellent temp range and clear to see laser spot.
Switching from F to C is a simple button.
It has a 9V battery so should last a good time.

I was a little dubious of the quality because of the price, but I needn’t have worried, it is ergonomic and feels nice to hold with a very good display.
Will be using it to test car engine bay components, brake discs for even temp, and alloys to see if brakes are binding.
Also if you suspect your car’s catalytic converter is playing up, you can easily test as when they fail you can tell this by reading the inlet, middle and outlout sections. Much cheaper than buying a replacement, then finding it was a sensor fault all along!
OK, so it’s not a device for accurate measurement, but a reliable Fluke starts at 70, and a top Flir carmera can be 4k, so expectations were very low for this. For 13.99 (battery included) this is actually a lot better than I expected and lots of fun to point at things around the house. I just wanted it to trace some problems with my central heating, so don’t need accuracy, just something to compare one radiator to another… accuracy is not likely to be good, but repeatability is ok if you keep a constant distance from the thing you are measuring (read the instructions).
Incidentally, Amazon says this was 30 and you’re saving 17 with the current price of 13.99. Don’t be fooled. This was NEVER 30. It’s a 13.99 device, but worth it at that. At 30 it would be a hilarious rip-off.

I use this for the BBQ, and for homebrewing. On the Brewing side it seems to match my Glass Thermometer, Braumeister’s Computer and my Inkbird temperature controller which all have a supposed +/- 0.5 C resolution, so I was very pleased.
The Etekcity is a great product and I can highly recommend it. It has a quality feel to it so much so it makes you want to pick it up.
More importantly it seems to be very accurate and versatile. If you want the temperature of a small area, such as looking for cold spots in your house, you just move in close to take the reading. On the other hand if you want a reading of a larger area you just move back to take the reading.
The laser guide can be turned off if required as can the back-light to the display and the reading can be switched between Fahrenheit and Centigrade even after the reading has been taken. All in all it has everything you need in an Infrared Thermometer.
Arrived well packaged in a sturdy box the inside moulded to the shape of the device and also the battery. The space for the battery was empty. The battery had been stuffed into the device where it is supposed to fit when it is connected but as it wasn’t connected it had been forced. I unsealed the battery and connected it up and found the device was not working. I checked the voltage on the battery ang found it to be 7.5volts. Flat. A fresh battery was sourced and the device worked. I’m very pleased with the thermometer but the battery is rubbish. I would have definitely posted 5 stars had it not been for that. The backlight is very useful. Buy it without the battery.
