Dead easy to use; wish I had had one years ago for all sorts of things – oven/hotplate temperature, solid-fuel stove pipes, hot/cold spots in walls and so on. Very good value.

Really useful product which has many uses, particularly useful for improving your home’s heat efficiency. You soon find out where your home is leaking heat. In my home, it identified areas in the corners of the bedroom ceiling that were missing loft insulation and turned out to bare plasterboard, resulting in cold spots, some of which were 9C! This product also makes it easy to balance radiators so that they have an even heat output. Takes accurate inlet and outlet water temperatures.

I’m a gadget man and this is a little gadget that I bought for my tool box, to play with occasionally. Apart from seeing how hot the radiators are, I doubt I will use it very much.
Having said all that, it’s extremely easy to use and fits comfortably in the hand. Although I have given 5 stars for accuracy, I don’t really have a way to check it.

Almost purchased a more expensive version but didn’t go through with sale as they didn’t ship to Ireland. Purchased this without high hopes due to low price but it does exactly what it says on the tin and is perfect for job I needed it for. (Water temperature in outdoor Koi pond)

Product appears to work fine, I do not have an accurate temperature to compare the readings against but it does what I require, balance radiators, BBQ smoker temperature checks. The only negative I could say about this, and I’m sure its the same for all IR non contact thermometers is that the temperature can change a couple of degrees depending on what you point it at, i.e. high gloss, shiny metals, matt surfaces all scattering and absorbing the IR differently.

Perhaps I had unrealistic expectations of this but I was surprised to learn I need to be very close to the heat source to get an accurate reading.
Sort of thought I’d be able to take a temperature from a good distance but in reality you need to be around a foot away.

That said it works….what more can you ask for.

    Very happy with this product.
Seems to be able to obtain a temperature from a distance of a few meters, but not sure how accurate that actually is.

Used in anger to monitor the temperature of some metal I was bending back into shape, and it worked really well.
Can’t be 100% sure of the accuracy, but from various tests it would seem to be pretty close.

The sighting red dot is great. Very powerful, tight beam and produces a bright dot at distance, so you always know what you’re measuring.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy husband loves it. It was purchased for his pizza oven he has just spent the whole summer building. This is the perfect present for the man who loves a gadget – which, lets be honest is most of them. It has allowed full 5* anorak mode to develop with him pointing it at anything that moves or possibly radiates signs of heat / life. He is out there most mornings post a pizza / cooking session giving me chapter and verse on how much heat is still present. As a summary, “full-on thermic probe heaven” . Would recommend to anyone with another half who loves a practical gadget – and who has a partner with sufficient patience. (although if he measures the temperature of my feet one more time …..)

I originally bought this to measure the temperature in a fish tank and to that extent it works brilliantly and reads the same temp as the thermometer i have previously been using.

However, that’s not it’s only use, this thing will literally give you hours of entertainment, be it from measuring for cold spots on walls/ceilings, checking the temp of the fridge/freezer, armpits, crotch, girlfriends bum and finding out my personal preference for coffee, which by the way is 55c.

My only negative is when you look down the sights and fire the laser, it’s literally off by 3-4mm, this is no problem for me, given that i was an avid Counter Strike player back in the 56k modem days, so i’ve learnt to lead my targets, which is somewhat tricky with hip shots, but i’m getting their with practice – I’m even contemplating buying another so i can dual wield!

Honestly the reviews for this say it all, it’s a must buy!

Hard to tell if it is accurate as I have nothing to measure it against. I mainly use it for getting the temperature of oil right before frying and it takes out the guesswork. The other things I use it for is to check the temperature of my halogen oven and the fridge. You then realise that the temperature of the oven does not match the thermostat setting. I also take it camping so I can keep a check on the temperature of my coolbox.

I have also found it useful and very accurate to taking the temerature of my home brew fermentation container. It saves having to steralise a thermometer and gives a better reading than a stick on temperature gauge.

I bought this item very much on a whim. I saw my plumber son using one last winter to check the output of our C/H boiler, merely by pointing it at the flow and return pipes.
My boiler does not have any calibration, merely + or – on the dial, so this year, I may be able to control it more precisely and spot check room temperatures. Interested to learn that it can be used for cooking, I must. follow that up!

This ‘remote’ thermometer was purchased to help in finding a misfire on a car engine (cylinder not firing should be colder on cylinder head).
Whilst not used for this purpose yet, I have measured various other things just for fun and it seems to work very well at quite a distance, but the displayed temperature gets less the further from the object; within 300mm/1 foot is optimal.
The item itself is quite compact and nicely made with a comfortable, slightly rubbery feel, like a lot of hand-held items these days, and comes with its own 9v battery.
The switchable backlit screen is easy to see and the red laser dot to assist pinpoint temperature measurements (also switchable) is a useful feature.
    Overall excellent.

I’ve been after a non-contact digital Thermometer for a while and decided to take a look at this one.

The quality is good with it all being made from high-grade plastic. The feel is excellent, and its well contracted. It’s a good weight as its very light and didn’t fatigue my hand while using it for prolonged periods.
You get a battery included which is great to see. I did find this a little fiddly to install but nothing too major. With this included, you can start using it right out of the box.
There is a reasonable manual explaining the features and how to use the item but it’s basic so easy to use.

I Like how you can turn on and off the Red Dot as well as having the ability to see it in the dark with the press of a button to enable the backlight. You can also switch between C & F with a press.

All in all, I’m impressed with this device for the price and wouldn’t pick up another.

Fantastic piece of gadgetry! I purchased mine specifically for soap making, as it’s important to test the temperature of your lye mixture as well as your melted oils & butters, as they have to be within ten degrees of each other before combining them together to create your soap. If the temperature is too hot it can affect the saponification process, or even cause a bit of a soap volcano – not nearly as exciting as it sounds, it can be very dangerous!

I loved the fact that you just “point & shoot” & that no part of the tool is coming into contact with anything you’re testing, which is particularly helpful in soap making because lye is pretty nasty stuff, the less things that come into contact with it, the better. So no thermometers having to be dunked into the mixture, & thus less chance of lye spills & splodges, & the risk of chemical burns. Yay for safety!

Overall, a very handy gadget to have, & at a really reasonable price, I’m super happy with it!

I’ve gotten over the play with it phase and have actually found it very useful indeed. I’ve used it to test food temperatures (particularly useful when reheating food) and it really helped me to sort out my central heating problems. By being able to monitor each of my central heating radiators individually I’ve been able to properly bleed and then balance the system. I’ve been able to reduce the boiler temperature setting which I reckon will save enough money to pay for itself. It’s easy to use , gives a quick read out, it’s well made and well priced. Top marks all round

The thermometer is easy to use and, as far as I can tell, gives accurate readings. It needs to be close to the subject to be accurate and the circle of influence averages the reading.
I do not like the laser being on without warning, there should be an indication that the laser is activated.

It is quick and easy to measure the temperature drop across a radiator by measure the temperatures at the lower corners. The laser allows accurate aiming for consistent reading. Readings can be taken in awkward places because the reading is held after the trigger is released. Of course, like any tool, you need to know how to use it, in particular the emissivity of the surface being measured. Metals in general, including copper pipes, do not give accurate readings because they have low emissivity. White paint and paper, perhaps counter intuitively, generally have high emissivity and give accurate readings.

    Brilliant for Balancing Radiators

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is really good, I use it for seeing the temperatures of generators, exhaust system, water, oil, fuel. it gives me an indication of the temperatures on the engine. A lot of standby generators don’t have temperature sensors on them, and if they do, there is often no gauge to read.
The price of this is amazing, I am also very happy with the build quality, speed of use, light etc, everything you need on a temperature gun. the range of temperature is good, -50 to 750C, suitable for all diesel generators.
I have used very expensive temperature guns over the years and this is as good as any, light weight, easy to use. The temperature reading is about right for what I would expect, so it is accurate. and it reacts quickly to temperature change, very fast indeed.
    I would recommend this 🙂

I initially purchased for a couple of completely different reasons:
    1. To check the temperature of melted chocolate when baking.
    2. To externally check the thermals of electronic components under use.

When checked against other more job-specific thermometers it’s actually quite accurate so it works for both those uses.

However, I soon realised I and everyone else that comes over to visit and sees it starts checking the temperature of everything from Patch (my dog) to the television; we could even work out where the pipes are situated in our house when the heating was on.

    Everyone should own one.
    Highly recommended!

This is an excellent device with many uses. Infrared themomoeters have been around for many years. I have used them for more than 30 years when they were much more expensive. This one is a good price and more versatile than the one we used at work years ago. For home use you can use it for measuring the temperature of fridge, freezers, room temperature and outside temperature. Fish tank and bath water. Food temperature for babies and elderly people. Just one point it is not really useable to measure body temperature, there are other devices for medical use. At work we used it to measure equipment temperature, some of which were behind safety grills but you could target the equipment using the red beam through the gap in the grill. This IR temperature monitor is a must have device.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPurchased to replace the last of a series of dial-type oven thermometers used until very recently (both from the same brand but purchased at different times) which invariably need frequent replacement as either the glass or the dial beneath darken with repeated, extensive exposure to heat. The problem is that every oven takes a certain time to reach the set temperature and when there is doubt, the thermometer may need to stay in place during the warm-up and cooking periods as it is then too hot to handle. The “Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 Non-contact Digital Laser IR Infrared Thermometer, -50C ~ 550C ( -58F~1022F ), Instant Read Temperature Gun, Rubber Paint Technology, Yellow/Black” never needs physically to be in the oven but is used externally via the open oven door, and from a short distance from the food or utensil within it, to check the temperature.

It clearly cannot check internal temperature of a joint of meat or poultry and a probe thermometer may be additionally required to verify that both appropriate levels are reached; while appearing cooked on the outside, it is possible for it to be almost raw inside especially if improperly thawed from frozen. The desired temperature levels for different meats, fish etc can usually be found on-line but are often printed in cookery books and sometimes in food-related articles in newspapers and magazines.

It has an extensive temperature range from -50 to 550C which will cover everything from the fridge and freezer, which should be among the coldest, and almost anything beyond including temperatures of different sections of a running vehicle engine, domestic radiators or almost anything else. It takes a standard 9v flat battery (included but not actually connected) which is held within the grip and which are readily available and not overly expensive to replace when required, although that provided is expected to provide a year or more’s service when often used. The battery is protected by a thick plastic film that needs be removed before first use and then connected. The fit within its compartment is tight!

It is claimed to offer an accuracy of +/- 2-deg, far better that the +/- 5-deg suggested by the best of the analogue rotary ones which in practice may be much greater. Their reading accuracy may be imprecise, adding further problems. Sometimes two such thermometers were used side-by-side (normally on different oven shelves) and they can easily differ from each other by 30-deg or more. It was impossible to know which of them, if any, was the more accurate. It is now known that one read slightly high and the other consistently very low! Under- or over-cooking within the normally used time for a dish, or as suggested by a recipe, can therefore be effectively avoided. This provided readings closely similar – a couple of degrees C lower – to one, that long thought to be the more accurate.

As the thermometer includes both laser and IR-sensing technology, although the laser is low-power and relatively safe when not misused, proper safety precautions should be taken and use by young children should never be permitted. Equally, it should never be used to check body temperatures or pointed towards vehicles on the road or flying aircraft.

I purchased this recently based upon reviews. I was looking for a unit which was not bulky, simple to use etc. I have to say I was extremely surprised on how good the build quality is for this item. I will actually say it’s brilliant. The unit is lightweight, feels robust and very clear with its results. Yeah, you can buy cheaper units, you can also buy much dearer units, but you should ask yourself why? This unit has a two year warranty, simple to operate and has a great Temperature range. Buy one, you’ll not be disappointed.

Very handy tool to locate draughts in windows and doors. Measuring temperatures around the house gives you an insight into the thermal performance of your house.

Great item, appears to be quite accurate, and good value. Also, I’ve found loads more uses for this than what I originally bought it for (from monitoring cooking, to setting room thermostats).

I borrowed a friends 300 infrared thermometer and loved it, but couldn’t justify that kind of spend. I use it to measure the temperature of tyres on my race bike. This performs just as well for less than 20. I’m very impressed.

I bought this to verify that the surface temperature of our bathroom floor was accurately shown on the control panel for our underfloor heating. The match was well within an acceptable tolerance. I also checked it against the interior of our fridge, our freezer and newly-boiled water. Everything was again close to the temperatures shown on other gauges or known.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWho’d have thought a digital thermometer could be so entertaining?! Purchased for measuring the temp of 3D printer heat beds, but used for measuring the walls, floors, doors, curtains, clothes, footballs, bananas! You’ll be amazed how many items you’ll suddenly realise you need to know the temperature of! And the wife has found a further use as a cat toy – they just love that laser!

A great product manufactured from quality materials and very accurate, especially for the price. It comes in a nice box with a decent manual too. What more could you want. Bargain.

As a review has said you do find yourself taking temperatures of lots of objects for the fun of it. Works well seems to be very accurate and very easy to use.

Really pleased with this. I bought this for finding draft and cold spots in my house. Within minutes I’ve found where the cold is coming from. I’d nearly bought a black and decker temperature sensor but it was twice the price… I have no regrets with my descion, this does the job perfectly. It’s also nicely rubberised so doesn’t feel cheap and plastic.
I showed it to my dad and he’s just ordered one even though he’s got no real use for it. Had I realised this before Christmas, I’d of bought 1 for every member of the family.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought to test efficiency of double glazing, and test for cold spots in the house,to know how to even out my heating. But it’s literally addictive, you test everything from coffee temp,to bath water, carpet, mirror ,fish tank…..blah blah blah…….then when home alone at night, end up pretending you’re armed in an action movie, and dramatically appear around your doors ,looking for the bad guys ! ….. the fun you can have ! Highly recommend this for serious use..and for pretending you’re armed in an action movie..and measuring the temp of anything you fancy.

    addictive!

Great product. Easy to use. I mainly brought this to measure the temperature in my snake vivarium. It is perfect telling me the temperature at each end as the snake needs a hot end and a cooler end. And I can do this any time without disturbing my snake. Once again fantastic product for a great price

I simply put in the battery and followed simple instructions for use. It couldn’t be simpler and gives rapid results, just what I required.

I bought this heat measuring gun for my reptiles and inverts so I can keep a close eye on their temperatures. This handy little device is perfect, it’s not cumbersome or difficult to use, you just pull the trigger and go! Its also very accurate, which is necessary for the animals I have.

I bought the Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 to make achieving correct temperatures in my homebrew easier than using the glass thermometer i normally use.

Bought this mainly to check the temperature of my wood burning stove to make sure it is operating optimally. I have a magnetic standard-type thermometer but the best place to put it (the flue) is non magnetic so I have to place it on the side of the stove, which takes an age to heat up and I suspected that it never quite reaches the temperature of the flue. This IR thermometer reads the flue temp easily and the reading makes sense compared to the reading for the side of the stove. Oh, and I agree with other reviewers that you can have hours of geeky fun measuring the temperature of everything in the house (including the dog), though I hasten to add that this last is probably not recommended. So much for so little money! Can’t comment on durability – I’ve only had it a few days.

An idiot proof point and press to know how hot or cold something is to at least some level of accuracy sort of device.
This seems to be of a higher level of quality but the 9v battery is not an idea I’m a fan of.

This was recommended to me by a fellow student on a skincare course I was recently on. It has certainly improved the process of skincare formulations, for me, as there is less likelihood of contamination. Quite simply because there is no need to put a traditional thermometer into the formulas, there is less problems with bacteria being introduced. Wonderful product and very easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersTBH I wasn’t looking for this item, I just needed to spend some more money on Amazon to get free delivery.

Well I am glad I did buy it, its a great item to have around the house and garage. Its amazing the amount of things you start taking readings off. I have just noticed that a wall in my house is a lot colder than others, so now I will insulate this wall, so the price of this item will soon be saved in heating bills. You can also tell which radiators are not performing and are colder and need cleaning/replacing which will again save money.

But on a side note, its driving the cat crazy with the red laser dot appearing everywhere, you can turn this option off but to hell with it, I need to annoy the cat a little more.

I bought this on offer and think that it is good value. I tried to resist the temptation (after reading other peoples’ reviews) of taking temperatures of everyone and everything in the house – as tempting as it was. However, I did use it to try and sort out some central heating problems. I have a digital room thermometer and wasn’t sure how accurate it was and the Lasergrip gave me an identical reading, I was also able to go around the house very quickly and get accurate top and bottom readings of all my radiators. It’s good value and a ‘fun’ but useful addition to anyone’s toolkit.
