FANTASTIC
This thermometer is absolutely fantastic. I use it mainly for melt-and-pour soap making, checking temperature before pouring when making layers is essential. The thermometer comes with battery and instructions. Very easy to use, accurate and because its digital, you don’t have to clean it.
I store mine in the box in a safe place (kids may look at it as a toy, but it’s not! the laser can be dangerous on the skin).
It can also be used in the kitchen.
I totally recommend it.

Really pleased with this. I bought this for finding draft and cold spots in my house. Within minutes I’ve found where the cold is coming from. I’d nearly bought a black and decker temperature sensor but it was twice the price… I have no regrets with my descion, this does the job perfectly. It’s also nicely rubberised so doesn’t feel cheap and plastic.
I showed it to my dad and he’s just ordered one even though he’s got no real use for it. Had I realised this before Christmas, I’d of bought 1 for every member of the family.
Bought to test efficiency of double glazing,and test for cold spots in the house,to know how to even out my heating. But it’s literally addictive, you test everything from coffee temp,to bath water,carpet, mirror ,fish tank…..blah blah blah…….then when home alone at night,end up pretending you’re armed in an action movie,and dramatically appear around your doors ,looking for the bad guys ! ….. the fun you can have ! Fantastic bit of kit for the money. As others have said I’ve been going around the house checking different places. It’s pretty dam accurate also. I pointed it at the kettle whilst it was boiling and when it hit 100c the kettle stopped. Definitely worth the money.

I needed to check the temperature on a parts washer in order to diagnose what the problem was. So I bought one of these. Worked a treat. I have since found it incredibly useful for other things.

I needed a thermometer to measure the temperature of the various radiators in the house when there was a problem with the heating. This thing is brilliant! Point, press, read the temperature – that’s it! And it has an impressive dynamic range too, so occasionally you may find yourself walking around pointing and measuring the temperature of lots of random objects. Brilliant piece of kit!

Amazing gadge
I bought this heat measuring gun for my reptiles and inverts so I can keep a close eye on their temperatures. This handy little device is perfect, it’s not cumbersome or difficult to use, you just pull the trigger and go! Its also very accurate, which is necessary for the animals I have.

Simple to use, useful and fu
Bought this mainly to check the temperature of my wood burning stove to make sure it is operating optimally. I have a magnetic standard-type thermometer but the best place to put it (the flue) is non magnetic so I have to place it on the side of the stove, which takes an age to heat up and I suspected that it never quite reaches the temperature of the flue. This IR thermometer reads the flue temp easily and the reading makes sense compared to the reading for the side of the stove. Oh, and I agree with other reviewers that you can have hours of geeky fun measuring the temperature of everything in the house (including the dog), though I hasten to add that this last is probably not recommended. So much for so little money! Can’t comment on durability – I’ve only had it a few days.

I’ve found this product so useful. Works without a problem. You won’t get perfect temperatures but it gives you a good idea. Really useful to tell if pans are up to temperature or if cookware to still too hot to touch

I initially bought for a friend who is a professional Chef and he is thrilled (he thought they were much more expensive!) This was recommended to me by a fellow student on a skincare course I was recently on. It has certainly improved the process of skincare formulations, for me, as there is less likelihood of contamination. Quite simply because there is no need to put a traditional thermometer into the formulas, there is less problems with bacteria being introduced. Wonderful product and very easy to use.

TBH I wasn’t looking for this item, I just needed to spend some more money on Amazon to get free delivery.
Well I am glad I did buy it, its a great item to have around the house and garage. Its amazing the amount of things you start taking readings off. I have just noticed that a wall in my house is a lot colder than others, so now I will insulate this wall, so the price of this item will soon be saved in heating bills. You can also tell which radiators are not performing and are colder and need cleaning/replacing which will again save money.
But on a side note, its driving the cat crazy with the red laser dot appearing everywhere, you can turn this option off but to hell with it, I need to annoy the cat a little more.

Good value, 'fun' and accurate
I bought this on offer and think that it is good value. I tried to resist the temptation (after reading other peoples’ reviews) of taking temperatures of everyone and everything in the house – as tempting as it was. However, I did use it to try and sort out some central heating problems. I have a digital room thermometer and wasn’t sure how accurate it was and the Lasergrip gave me an identical reading, I was also able to go around the house very quickly and get accurate top and bottom readings of all my radiators. It’s good value and a ‘fun’ but useful addition to anyone’s toolkit.

I bought this item to check my fridge and freezer were operating correctly, as well as to check the temperature of LED lights – a niche use. Apart from the very, very ‘plasticy’ smell, the item is great — but I’ve found myself walking around the house and measuring various areas, surfaces, and items.

I have been using this thermometer on a twice/thrice weekly basis, since I purchased it in March 2018. I am a small scale manufacturer of chocolates, and tempering the chocolate to the optimum temperature is of prime importance. My last thermometer (79) packed up just prior to easter, and my son, thinking he was doing me a favour, bought me this one. I hadn’t the heart to tell him that it was probably crap, but tried it out one sunday morning to see if it was properly calibrated. It is the bee’s knees, and I love it. Thank you my son…
We bought an Ooni pizza oven and knowing the temperature of the oven is vital. This one is great it provides really quick, really accurate readings and this one works to a suitably higher temperature. It also never gets boring randomly taking the temperature of everything around you.

Seems reasonably accurate. They claim +/- 2 Celsius degrees with the specified emissivity, which is a wide latitude, I’m sure mine is a lot better than that but yours might not be! (All these infra-red thermometers are sensitive to the amount of radiated heat. A matt black item will radiate a lot more heat than a shiny one at the same temperature. So don’t expect an accurate temperature reading on all materials.) It’s really useful for balancing radiators, and for a quick check that the refrigerator is about right (use something like a potato; plastic or foil packaging will give the wrong answer.)
There are no instructions, but I think it’s pretty obvious how to use it.

I am very happy with this IR thermometer. I hesitated at first not knowing which one to choose and order as there seemed to be so many makes and models all around the same price range but then I decided to go for this one based on the reviews and am perfectly happy with it. And its a fun gadget to use. I use it mainly to monitor temperature of the reptile and insect cages in my tropical house and its extraordinarily handy for it.
I had purchased a clinical IR thermometer for my daughter ( arrival of grandson) obviously considerably more money than the Etekcity 1080. Understandably the under 15.00 (UK) price tag initially caused me concern. However, prior research on performance of the 1080 justified placing an order. Unit arrived promptly, well packaged, easy instructions and a nice touch was the email received assuring service and help if needed. The initial reason for purchase was to facilitate accurate balancing of my central heating, this task alone will more than pay for the unit. However, there are a myriad of uses around the home and my garage. E.G. using water at 80 degrees for coffee, nice.

I purchased this to check the operation of the catalytic converter converter on my car. I had an engine management fault lamp indication and wanted to determine whether it was the catalytic converter which was faulty or one of the oxygen sensors either side. A 100 degC higher temp after the cat, indicates the cat is ok. If iflts the same, or lower, then the catalyst material is not working properly.
The only disappointing thing I found was the supplied battery was flat on arrival.

To be honest I have just wanted to have one of these for no other reason than being able to point at something and measure the temperature. As soon as I got it I checked its accuracy against my fridge and freezer thermometers and my room thermometer. The readings matched so I assume it is pretty accurate. I may use this where I work to check the temperature of food items to ensure they are being maintained at the correct temperature for freshness.

Nice and easy to use, and appears fairly accurate.
Very handy little device, and appears to be with .3 or.4 degrees accuracy. Tested against other known temperature reading, it appears to be quite accurate. Found its better the nearer i am to the object, but works well over 1-1.5 metres.

Unpack,connect the battery, aim at surface you want to measure and pull the trigger. Done! Keep the recommended distance of approx. 36 cm, as described in the instructions. Results are quick, the 3 buttons are self-explaining, the handle was a positive surprise, as slip resistant and very comfortable to hold. Would love to have a holster.of some sort, might have to make one myself.
I only use this with an UUNI pizza oven to take the guess work out of judging oven temperature. Makes a great accessory to the oven.
Simple to use. Great device. I just wish it used AA batteries. I generally avoid devices that use a pp3 battery as I can never find a spare when I need them. But that’s just nit picking. Still a 5 star item for me.

It’s great fun and I’m still wandering round pointing it at random objects. My wife is getting sick of me pointing it at her (some bits are way hotter than others). I bought it for a bit of fun and it has certainly kept me entertained and will continue to do so.
Measuring fridge and freezer temps seems to give readings that are expected so it must be reasonably accurate. Bought when it was on offer and happy with my purchase.
Very good little gadget. I need to measure the temperature of water in our village hall showers system for Legionnaires monitoring. Without spending thousands you can only measure the temperature of pipe surfaces. But with a couple of tricks you can use this to find the water temp.
I’m measuring 22mm pipes. Stick masking tape to the pipes where you want to measure (as suggested in the instructions). I tested 4 or 5 different paints and materials and masking tape was best. Use about an inch square well stuck down. Test your IR thermometer from different distances and to check whether the laser spot is aligned with the position where it measures temp. On mine the measurement position is about 1cm below the laser spot, and about half a centimetre to the left when the gun is held between 10cm and 20cm away. Work out what yours is doing and aim it accordingly. You need to hold the gun no further than 20cm away for a 22mm pipe otherwise it’s measuring a cooler area round the pipe as well as the pipe itself, and the alignment matters at these relatively short distances.
This gives you an IR measurement of the surface temperature which is somewhat cooler than the water in the pipe. You can find out the correspondence between the IR surface temp and the water temp in the pipe e.g. by filling a piece of 22mm pipe with boiling water, putting a jam or laboratory thermometer in it and comparing the internal water temp with the IR surface temp as it cools. Mine showed the internal water temp to be 10% higher in deg C at an IR measured 40C, rising to 15% higher in deg C at an IR measured 70. Ie if you measure 40 C on the pipe surface the water is at 44 C and if you measure 70 C the water is at 80.5 C. You need to be confident of the calibration of your water thermometer. If it’s a lab thermometer – fine; my jam thermometer gave exactly 100 C (+/- less than 0.5C) in boiling (soft) water and I’m assuming it’s reasonably reliable below that.
So for 15 I can get accurate monitoring temperatures of the actual water in the pipes.
This is a fantastic product! I had previously bought a different but very similar (looked identical) device that was hopeless. This previous device would never give two consecutive readings as the same temperature… but this new one… Wow! It is super consistent and super accurate. I have used it to check the difference in cylinder head temperatures of a lycoming aircraft engine and it confirmed that cylinder number 3 was running hotter than the others. I used it to find out why our lettuces were sometimes getting frozen in the vegetable drawers of our fridge. It told us that the food in these drawers was at 2 degrees and the top shelf was at 10 degrees and all the others at 8 degrees. Our 40 year old freezer was showing -24 degrees…
There are so many uses and its accuracy is reassuring (it shows a saucepan of boiling water at 100 degrees). I highly recommend this product and the price is very reasonable for such precision!

This is an excellent infra-red thermometer. Have had mine for almost two years and use it for measuring the temperature of the walls of my tandoor oven. Readings appear to be very accurate and reliable – I’ve measured up to 500C. Display is easy to read and battery life is excellent (still on the original battery that came with the unit in October 2016).

Arrived quickly and looks and performs very well. I used the Lasergrip to monitor the heat up an electronic component to 200 Deg C with a heat gun. Beyond expectations
Excellent value. I was a bit sceptical about its accuracy, however I tested it in the range I needed it for (20 C to 50 C) and it was well within the stated accuracy, in fact less than half a degree out. I tested it with scientific apparatus. I’m going to buy another for my son.

Useful and Durable
Does what it says on the tin. Very easy to use, it is extremely helpful for fault tracking, especially when the fault temperature related. The laser allows you to determine exactly what you are taking the temperature off. The manual explains the size of the measurement spot. Does not work well on reflective surfaces, but that is down to physics and not the device’s fault, and the manual offers a valid solution — affix a black strip of pace to the reflective surface, allow to settle on the right temperature for about 30 minutes, then measure the temperature of the tape.

This is a great product. It is sturdy, durable and easy to use. I use it for measuring the temperature of my aquariums, and it’s readings are accurate. The added bonus is that my dog loves chasing the laser too!

A great little tool at a great price
Just another five-star vote; I can’t really add much to what’s already been said by others. The spot laser is great for making sure you’re on target and the backlight and clear display means it’s readable anywhere. A gadget for the curious as well as a very practical tool.

very useful to take temparature – so i could see where cold was coming in thru my doors. but i have to say it’s extremely fun for playing find the red spot with my dogs, too!

Spot on thermometer !
I live in a flat that often has problems with the heating . With this little gadget I can now give true readings and have identified where most of the problem is ( French Windows) I have recommended it to other residents ( also having problems ) so hopefully things will get sorted and all will be well .I will be looking for other ways to use this easy to use really lightweight gadget .
Amazing how many things this comes in handy for: My new double glazing is 3 degrees warmer inside than my old double glazing…. the radiators are 65.7c……. it’s 10.8c in my real ale fridge… no wait… it’s fascinating… come back!….
Was looking for a inexpensive, but accurate, digital thermometer to help balance a central heating system and went for this Etekcity 1080 based on the many positive reviews it had received.
Really pleased with it. The built in laser helps to ensure you’re measuring the precise area (essential when taking the temp of a 1/2 pipe), the backlit display is easy to read and the auto switch-off feature helps with battery life. I took readings over a 3 day period and found them to be amazingly consistent. I also compared the readings from the 1080 with analog thermometers around the house and found them to be spot on.

Incredibly easy to use and very accurate. The claimed accuracy is within 2 degrees but on my testing it was within 0.5 degree. Great for checking cracking point for caramel as a reading can be taken from a comfortable distance without risk of sugar splash.

How have I lived without having one?! As a engineer I find I am using it all the time! No adverse comments at all. Accurate,easy to use, prompt delivery and a good follow up from the company. Very well done.

A very good high quality produc
A very good high quality product. Very good value for money. It is perfect for my needs to measure the temperature of chocolate while melting and tempering, it is very important to have a accurate temperature doing this process and this product is perfect for the job.
Quality and Value second to none.
I use a laser thermometer at work to measure brake temperatures and thought it would be a useful tool to have at home. After checking around I decided to buy the Etekcity 1080. I am very impressed with the quality and value of the item and it’s range is far greater than the very expensive item I use at work. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to anyone looking for a first rate product at a very reasonable price.
