perfect small jobbe
It does exactly what it says on the can. If you compact in layers ive already done a medium size patio and several pathways. Used it to compact earth first then sub base and then quick pass on the sharp sand. was easy in the car…easy to move around…fairly quiet to operate. BUT as almost everyone else says….the handle bolts are useless. Vibrate loose and one off mine cross threaded because the screw tap was poor at the outset….with new handle design perfect for 5 stars.
OK for a lightweight.
For a lightweight whacker this is ok. Obviously it won’t have the same effect as a heavier weight version. But it’s fine for regular small size DIY jobs. Just keep an eye on the screws that hold the handle together as they do tend to undo themselves gradually!
Impeccable
Better than expected, after compacting some MOT 1 I had to remove a bit, I needed an SDS hammer drill to break up the MOT 1. Lighter than a petrol driven one. Overall I didn’t find any difference between this and the petrol one I was hiring for 50 per day, apart from the fact that the petrol whacker plates use a lot of fuel!
Easy to put together, easy to carry with the bars on. Also comes with a decent amount of cable. As for the reviews of the handles coming loose, just really tighten them up good and proper and you should be alright, you can add a little bit of super glue to the thread if need be.
Definitely recommend this if you have a few days of whacking to do.
Small light and easy to use
Great little machine, easy to transport, perfect for small garden projects. I bought this because I was fed up with hire charges for petrol ones which are bulky and they need delivery and collection. Easy to put together, it’s quiet and easy to manoeuvre. Compacted 32m2 in no time at all. Only one issue so far is that the handle did shake loose, obviously I hadn’t tightened the thumb screws enough.
Man bekommt, was man kauft.
Worked really well and worked out cheaper than hiring one
Really easy to use and not too heavy. I think it did the job really well. Compacted the driveway substructure big enough for 2 cars with ease. Similar one was 139.07 for one day from HSS and an extra daily charge for each extra day or 179 for the weekend. The whole job to 3 weeks working evenings and weekends so worth buying.
Schnes, kompaktes kleines Gert.
Dose the job
Really good light weight flaten ground well glad i got it made life alot easie
I bough this as an alternative to hiring. The price meant I could own it instead of having to hire over several weekends which would allow me to take my time (as a DIYer) it made financial sense.
Having now had a chance to use it, I can leave a review.
Building it initially is easy, 4 twist bots and a couple of cable ties and it’s done.
Using it is easy too. It’s one directional so it will ‘walk’ forward only, no reverse, so plan your route and go in a pattern that minimizes tight turns and stopping. Don’t be tempted to just drag it back while it’s still going unless you like the idea of doing the same patch a thousand times, it will dig in and ruin what you just did.
Little and often is the key to success with this machine. It’s not massively heavy (15KG) so don’t go putting 2 foot of base layer down and expect it to cope, build up the sub-base layer at a time and it will be brilliant.
I found a sub-layer or gravel topped with fine shale then sand worked well for a 2 1/2 ton truck.
It’s limitations are to fine compaction, its a vibrating plate not a trench rammer. If you want huge compaction invest more.
It’s really quiet too when it’s running, that surprised me, I thought it would be noisy.
All-in-all I’m impressed with it for the money. I’d read mixed reviews and took a a chance anyway, glad i did. If you’re planning pathways, garden pre-astro-turf laying, driveways or patios, this little plate will serve you well. If you’re building a house or a motorway, spend more and get industrial kit.
Good at what it does

Brillia
Brought this for bits in the garden and driveway. Really good quality bit if kit. Really easy to lift with the handles. Moves like a knife through butter when in use. Would really recommend it for diy.
Great produc
Love this machine. Lightweight, easy to use and manoeuvre. Only one little problem, which can be easily sorted, is the handle does work loose when in operation due to the vibration. I’m sure with a little lock tight this will be sorted. Would recommend.

Fantastic Piece of Ki
I bought this to help with the installation of Gabion baskets and the need to compact an MOT Type 1 base for these to sit on. Given this was a DIY job I didn’t want the hassle of buying or hiring a petrol compactor so decided to take the dive and give this electric version a go.
Wow what a piece of kit – yes it doesn’t have the same compaction power of a petrol but this doesn’t half to do a fantastic job. You will need to make sure you do it in shallow layers (up to 10cm) but the compaction is great as well as its maneuverability. It’s not the lightest piece of equipment but for most people moving it around won’t be too much hassle and the handles on top make this a lot easier.
Unlike other reviews the handle has stayed firm and has only required tightening once after an hours worth of use which given it is attached using screws with knurled knobs isn’t bad at all – ensure the small washers provided are used to give a tighter fitting.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have any heavy duty requirement for compacting – if you do go and hire a petrol one 🙂
great price value balance
This compacter is great, maneuverability is a bit awkward, also its compacting pressure strength is not ideal so expect to have to help it a bit and have to do some extra passes, but overall, great results for such an inexpensive tool
Patel
Used it on tarmac. Did the job great. Machine is lightweight easy to use and put together.
Shakey!
Fantastic for my garden. Just need a bit of threadlock on the handle bolts.
INCREDIBLE SPEED OF DELIVERY
Ordered this because to hire one meant I needed to buy petrol in a can during this fuel crisis, hire company warned me may be a problem, so glad I went for this as it arrived 18 hours after I placed the order. The cost of this compered with hiring a compactor over two or three weekends for a garden project made this a cost effective alternative. The review asks for a star rating for lightweight not sure what that was meant to mean as it is meant to be heavy and is. It compacted 20 square metres of type one hardcore with ease. After reading the reviews regarding the handles loosening I just put some loctite on the threads and had no problems. It is also very quiet so made it a pleasure to use. Well worth the money if you are planning to use over a extended period of time and of course no petrol and no trying to start a temperamental old petrol engine. Well worth the money and did as good a job as any compactor I have used in the past so don’t be put of because its electric.

Bought this to do a small project rather than hire for 38 pound per day . We’ll worth i
Handy for DIY
Sort of does the job, as a DIYer it has meant that I haven’t had to do the job in one go. Good bits, lightweight (relatively), manoeuvrable, quite (this is more important than you think). Bad bits, not heavy enough to really crush the material, handle keeps shaking off the fasteners.
It has done a job of flattening the MOT for laying artificial grass. I will be able to use it for smaller jobs as well that you wouldn’t go to the expense of hiring a machine for. To sum up ; I would recommend for general preparation (patios, flattening ground, paths, gardens) but not for contractors or for “heavy” driveways. I am happy with the purchase .

Very good for my back garde
I use my uncle plate compactor, and did the job required, but it stopped working and my uncle sent it back under warranty, I purchased one and I’m happy with it, purchased an extra warranty which I’m covered for 3 years, prefer to have my own tools rather to borrow one or hire. Save money over time, maybe I will sell it after the warranty will run out. For me is good enough for what I’m doing, petrol ones are more complicated if something wrong it will happen.

Ideal for patio and paths.
You get what you pay for. Used this over the course of 4 weeks to do large patio and path sub base type 1 mot. Just a little longer than a hired petrol whacker. Beauty of it is no messing with hire stuff and could take my time plus I now own a whacker plate to use again or sell, cheaper than hiring one.
Great for starting ou
It was great when I first set up, but changed to petrol when jobs got bigger. Would recommend %
A useful and lightweight compacto
Easy to put together, easy to lift, compacted hardcore for concrete foundation. The only issue was the wingnuts on the handle did come loose a couple of times; they need to be really tight as the lock washer is not that effective.
Good for home DIY usage
Don’t expect to be laying roads with this but great for home use ( patios, paths, ahed bases etc ). Needed one at several different times and this was cheaper and more flexible than repeated hiring. Tighten the handle from time to time as the vibrations can loosen it – though it is pretty obvious when this is happening from extra vibration in handle.

Does the job
Being electric I was quite surprised on the weight. I used it for tamping duff. Easy peasy to use. Just make sure the orange nuts on the handle is tight or they will work loose 9/10_
Great for small jobs
Not for industrial use you will need to go over the ground a couple of times.
So far so good!
This was really easy to assemble and was light enough for me to lift on my own but not for long distances. It seems to have compacted the MOT type 1 pretty well, far better than the hand tamper I was previously using. The only issue is, due to the vibration, the two bolts closest to the bottom of the handle come loose pretty easily. It wasn’t a huge issue for me as I knew to tighten every time I turned off the machine and to keep an eye on it but I can understand that if you were using this all the time, this would be a pain.

Wacker plate
Works well, my only dissapointment is handle works loss but takes two seconds to do up agai
Good option if you've got paths and patios to lay
Worked very well for compacting mot1 and gravel for a 50 metre garden path. There’s a good length of cable and its fairly quiet, certainly compared to a petrol compactor. The only slight thing to watch is that the fasteners for the handles do work loose and need retightening from time to time. It’ll certainly come in handy for future jobs.
Compacto
I found it easy to use and not to heavy to move about. the only gripe I have is the fact the folding handle has to shorter bolts to fold the top part of the handle without removing them all together.
Does it’s job
Son said this is brilliant for flattening. Did job in two minutes! He did not like the foldable handle, so left that off. It is very heavy.
Better than hiring
Great for small jobs very quiet takes a bit longer than a petrol wacker but the cost makes it a worth while purchase
Excellent bit of ki
I’ve used several wackers over the years and this one stands out because it’s lighter to move around and it always starts. Petrol wackers are great but have a habit of being hard to start.
This machine is lighter so needs more passes to achieve the compaction. It’s great for smaller areas and quickly pays for itself when compared to hiring a petrol one. This was bought for a job where we’d need to do lots of bits of compacting over several weeks. And it scores well in Tools Top Trumps because who else has a wacker? Buy one and win.

Perfec
So glad I bought this. Really easy to use and more versatile than the one we were going to hire.
Good wacke
Brought this to do my patio and relay it after building work very easy to use and did the job well slightly bit heavy but would recommend
Grea
Easy to use easy to move around idea for small compact areas and does the job for patio and footpath
electric compacto
Easy to use. LONG CABLE but you’ll need an extension cable…using it to flatten a 4m x 6 m area…absolutely does the job…just got it at lunch time…spent 4 hours and it is just excellent..easy to use..good weight in the plate… look its a compactor so it needs weight…its not a Dyson with a ball its a wacker plate to wack stones and compact the earth..and it does exactly that…75 to hire one for 2 days…its a no brainer..

Easy to use for small jobs but wouldn’t use on large area, would buy a bigger machine… has been fine for me for what I needed it for… & definitely worth the money..

Even with a double hernia.
This was superb for being lightweight, as I have a double hernia. I was not looking forward to using a hired whacker plate. I had to do multiple runs but it did the job. As my block paving was set on different levels and different ground shapes it proved easy to manoeuvre. Good for storage as you can dismantle the push handles and noise levels low. Before I bought it I had seen some reviews and comments about how the handle thumbscrews come loose. This was easily resolved by securing tie wraps around the bar and thumbscrew. At the time of my block paving installation the weather was bad, this was another reason for buying, in that I could take my time and work around the weather.

Great little compacto
Great little compactor easy to use and glide around ,used it for type 1 in the back garden as long as you do thin layers of stone does the job well worth the money
Fine for garden jobs
For the price this is a great little tool. I have used it for the base for a patio, a path and to widen my drive (by about 2ft and that bit will seldom have a vehicle on) and it was fine for these small projects.
If I was doing a full drive or anything substantial I would be hiring a heavier ‘meatier’ plate but as I say I knew what I was getting and I’ve already recouped the outlay as I haven’t had to hire for these three jobs.
One thing is driving me crackers though – and loads of folk have said the same in their reviews – but the bolts holding the handles together vibrate out in seconds! It drives me mad, why would you design this into a vibrating plate? I have now started using gorilla tape to tape them in place but this is a faff I could do without!
Other than that though I am very happy with it.

Great compactor used on hardcore, sand and it will be good on block im sure of that. Great alternative to petrol
Ideal for most light jobs
In general a very good piece of equipment, take time putting it together and regularly check it over and it seems to cope with most jobs, don’t expect to be able to lay a road, put paths, patios etc perfectly capable.
Easy to use
Working perfectly I am happy very good item fast delivery good selle
Good
Fantastic for the price, keep a couple of bags of sand or hardcore to stick some extra weight on top when compacting. Amazing for the price. Sell on when job is done

Great, cheaper than hiring one too often, works well. Handles come loose but can work around as u have to stop every so often to untangle yourself from the cable. Quiet and effective, worked well on my drive

Compacts well.
It is light enough to be manoeuvred easily but heavy enough to compact. It is not as heavy as the petrol ones so compaction must be made with thinner layers but it does an excellent job and well worth it if you are going to need for a long period of time. The only issue is the screws securing the handles vibrate loose so you need to periodically check and tighten them. Even loctite does not prevent completely this occurring. Overall as easy to operate and manoeuvre as a lawn mower but compacts well more so at the fro

Great tool
Bought for a job with limited access, not as powerfull as a petrol one but did the job perfectly. Nice and compact.
it does the job at a good price
I found it very easy to use and did the job very good thank you 10/10
Brilliant electric compacto
Brilliant compactor was so easy to assemble and use – plug in and away you go, it’s lightweight and easy to move around, have used it for loads of different jobs now and never failed to do the job.
Fantastic for DIY
Fantastic machine for the money only nagging issue having to keep electric cable out of the way got my grandson to help cheap labou

great little machine bought to do my patio rather than hiring.
Did a great job of compacting soil then mot aggregate .
well pleased saved me a lot of hassle
Perfect for the job
I have previously hired ‘Wacker Plates’ but as I have a large project that would require multiple hiring, it was cost effective to buy this product. It is every bit as powerful as anything I have previously hired and is a doddle to use. It weighs in at 26KG but is easy to manoeuvre.
Out of the box, it took about 3 minutes to set up. Basically it is just the two part handle frame to assemble and the power cord to secure.
It is quiet and very easy on your hands and joints. There is a risk of RSI with prolonged use, but the vibration is sufficiently dampened at the hand grip to mitigate this risk under normal usage. The instructions warn that 8 hours is the maximum daily usage limit. I have no doubt the product would be up to that, but I physically couldn’t.

Effective machine, easy to store, pretty good value for money
My review echos all others. Good little machine for small to medium jobs. Electric flex can get in the way and the bolts on the handles constantly work loose which is the biggest pain. It is easy to store and saved me hiring a machine and didn’t have to rush my jobs.

Buy loctite
I was surprised by how effectively this product worked to compact loose gravel on paths and driveways into a very stable surface.
It’s not fast, gets annoyed if the gravel is not less than 2 inches deep per layer and one of the handle bolts persistently vibrates loose.
But, it gets the job done at a very reasonable price… equivalent to 4 days hire of a petrol machine here… which allows more flexibility when it comes to time.
Lightweight!
Good little compactor plate, very good for light jobs ie cobble path, patio, turf laying, where nothing heavy will be driving on it! Don’t expect miracles though, this is very lightweight and requires perfect preparation before compaction!
Great piece of kit!!
Great little piece of kit. Electric compactors seem to be few and far between but this piece of kit is great. Easy to build (screwing the handle together), easy to operate. It ‘walks’ along at a good pace. I have just crushed 31mSq of recycled MOT1 with this at 25cm deep, layering a few centimetres at a time, and it’s worked great. Lots of other things to do with it too so if it can do that I’ll be good for a while.
Once, on the first use, I had the problem that others have mentioned where the twist locks shook free.
Solution to this: Do them up again really tight. Never come loose since. And it’s been used a lot.
Lightweight!
Good little compactor plate, very good for light jobs ie cobble path, patio, turf laying, where nothing heavy will be driving on it! Don’t expect miracles though, this is very lightweight and requires perfect preparation before compaction!
Evolution Power Tools Hulk Electric Compactor, (230 V)
Very pleased with Evolution Power Tools Hulk Electric Compactor, (230 V) it does the job,
Only thing, keep your eye on screws on handle as they come loose from the vibratio
Good alternative to hiring
Good quality item, well made other than the handle screws that vibrate loose but you get used to keeping an eye on them, dealt with mot type 1 and crusher run no problem made a few more passes than you would with a heavier petrol wacker but this is far easier to move around and store. I added a large sandbag for extra weight held on with a bungee cord to stop it falling off to compact the bigger stones. Overall once you get used to it it’s a great piece of kit.

Electric compacke
was easy to use vibration caused to loosen nuts an bolts which you had to stop and tighten up, should have used nyloc nuts would have helped otherwise good product also lost 1 hex bolt.
Great little machine
Nothing wrong with this whacker. No it’s not as heavy as the hire ones however you just have to make a 2nd pass to get the same results.
For occasional use I think this is spot on, easy enough to transport in the car too.
Some reviews mention the nuts working loose- this is correct however a very simple but effective solution is too wrap insulation tape around the knob. Works a treat , never moved since I did this.
All in all a very good machine

Good product for price and works well
Excellent product light enough to put in car and heavy enough to do job.
If you give it a bit of time I think it does a super job.
Really happy and definitely recommend
Done driveway on 20mm gravel and good end product. Have used other petrol types in past but think this is better for my use.

Worth buying
It does the job. I’m a builder and decided to see if it bc was worth buying. It is. It’s fine for using in small bases. You could use it on larger work will just take longer than usual
excelle
excellent product but limited due it being operated by electricity, it does not have the same impact as its petrol counterpart, I am happy with the produc
Great Purchase
Bought this compactor as I have lots of 20-30mm pebbles/stone around our property and thought I would try the hulk instead of hiring a plate compactor but did have some reservations it would be powerful enough with it being electric. Pleases to stay it has been a great purchase and have been surprised just how powerful it is and will now save 100 -150 a year in rental costs and the hassle of picking It up etc

Good value and easy to use
Bought this to do some work on some hardcore in my garden before lying slabs for my shed and also prep work for my patio. It’s easy to put together from the box and although a bit heavy, not as heavy as the ones you can rent. I’m only 5’3 and not that strong but I could lift it and carry it to the area and store it away easily. It’s much cheaper than renting if you have a bit of work to do and saves money in the long run.

Great for the garden and working in tight areas with poor ventilatio
I have used this on a few jobs from basic DIY all the way to redoing the ground floor of a house.
The main benefit is that you do not suck the fumes from a petrol machine. It is, of course, lighter, so you need to take this into consideration and work in stages. But it has no trouble with MOT 1 subbase. It also works wonders on the gravel drive.
The only downside has been the vibration works all the screws loose on the handles. The ability to use it when ventilation might be an issue is the best aspect of the machine. It is also very quiet for a compactor.

Great little wacke
Great very quiet handles come loose a few time but wacks much better than I expected
I wanted to extend a concrete base for a summer house and lay some patio slabs. As I was in no rush to complete the project and will need a compactor again next year when I lay some block paving It was actually cheaper to buy a compactor than hire one. This tool is fairly lightweight but more than adequate. It’s very simple to use and did everything I needed it to do. As other reviews have said, the vibration does tend to loosen the bolts holding the handles, but a bit of masking tape or similar solves that little problem, so it’s not a major issue. Well worth the money.

Light weigh
Light weight and easy to use, did what we needed it to do
Good product works well
Brought this as it would have cost more to hire on for a week or so, when laying flags and was doing only when I had time. Didn’t work when Arrived but contacted their tech support who talk me through a simple fix now working with no problems. Have used for a few jobs, now where hiring would be pointless, so made life easie
