Evolution Power Tools R210SMS+ Sliding Mitre Saw With Multi-Material Cutting, 45° Bevel, 50° Mitre, 230mm Slide, 1500 W, (110 V Industrial Plug)

Cuts All

Evolution is one of the market leaders in multi-purpose cutting technology. Utilising this multi-purpose cutting technology, all saws easily cut steel, aluminium, wood (even wood with nails) and plastic, using just one blade. All Evolution multi-purpose carbide-tipped blades are made in Japan and are of premium quality steel and performance.

Cuts Cooler

When cutting metals, Evolution blades leave an instantly workable finish and produce virtually no heat, burrs or sparks. This allows the material cut to be handled quickly instead of having to wait for the metal to cool down, as required with abrasives.

Cuts Tile

With this accessory, Evolution saws are the complete cutting package. Available in two styles to enable most natural stone, concrete, paving slabs and unglazed ceramics to be cut with ease. Segmented rim blades (available in 185 mm, 305 mm and 355 mm): Hot pressed turbo segmented rim for consistent cutting ability. Continuous rim blades (available in 210 mm and 255 mm): Provides the smoothest cut in unglazed ceramic tiles and ornamental stone.

Cuts Safer

Abrasive blades can create excessive dust, fumes, smoke, fire and can even explode. Evolution blades produce very few sparks, create little heat and are an overall safer alternative to abrasives.

    Excellent for the price
Excellent product, previously owned much more expensive product. Was not getting the use out of it. This product does all the same for a third of the price. Easy set up, accurate cuts and relatively quiet in operation. Great for the DIY and hobby people like me. Light and easily set up in the workshop.

Great piece of wood working equipment!
I bought this product for my husband who has recently retired and so far he’s used it loads of times.. our garden is now equipped with bird feeders of all shapes and sizes. He says he should have had one of these machines years ago! The laser on the machines gives the user quick, precise cuts at various angles. It’s powerful motor even cuts through wood that has nails or screws in. All in all, a good buy!

    B&Q is Cheape
Yes folks B&Q is selling this model for 110 and it is well worth the money, I ended up going to B&Q because Amazon let me down on delivery again! I spent a little time testing the product out and got it all set up with minimal effort. What has really impressed me is how accurate and square the cuts are and if you have a work mate you can bolt this mitre saw onto it which makes this unit very stable. Also the safety
features such as the blade guard and the push down release mechanism are very good too and the laser can be easily adjusted so you know which side of the line the blade will cut. For the price I think the quality is amazing and I can hand on heart reccomend this saw.

Good tool and it gets used quite a bit. Laser is about half an inch out and I can’t quite seems to adjust it correctly even after watching a guy on youtube with the same model and the same problem. Mitre is not set up square so had to buy a small set square and adjust this myself

    Nice smoot actio
Great item there is a mistake on built instructions where the sliding arms shows upside down on plans but look at the picture on the box,
It would be nice if they also added the mounting bolt to fix to a table as they are not included .
    But nice item

Good product. Glad I brought it. Would buy it again.
I’m a bit of a keen DIY’er so Did research like everyone else, and glad I got it. I had to use my brain to put it together, well add the parts onto the main part, but it was ok overall. Ive just completed my decking projecting and now looking for other products to build/make. Already made a couple of boxes for plants with the remaining decking. I’m am very happy with this saw and Yes I would but the same one again.
I also brought the bench and it goes together great, you don’t have to get one as it would fit on a flat bench, but it works for me.
You have various level of adjustment if you think it’s not lined up correctly, the tester was the mitred corners, and they are very good. Just a bit of practice too. I would say I would give it 4.5 out of 5, as as I can’t, 5/5. Hope this review helps.

What a piece of kit for the money. I was expecting something average but it’s spot on, cuts as good as a Makita any day, at less than half the price. Love it, bench is so good too. I like quality work gear and this is just that.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat saw that's not too hard to put together despite the reviews!
So I’ve only used this saw to knock up a raised bed so far but so far it’s been great.

First of all, anyone who takes more than 20 mins to set it up out of the box really needs to look at the online instructions. There’s a QR code on the blade packet that takes you straight to the website. Had mine set up in 15 mins with my 4 year old helping, so probably 10 minutes on my own!

I think the + features are worth the extra cash especially the laser and quick release clamps.

I’m only a rookie diyer, but this saw is perfect for my needs and with a 3 year warranty it should be headache free.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBrilliant little saw!
Really good, will only use on wood anyway but cuts well with clean cut, laser works from mains and not battery’s which is a definite plus. As with all these type saws more dust will miss the bag than collect in it(unless you have a extraction system fitted to it) it’s a really thin cut/blade saving in excess dust and making it easy to be precise as laser same thickness. This saw will easily cut 90 degrees across a 8″x2″ beam! reviews say it’s a problem to build???? Was built within 10 minutes using tools and instructions supplied. Notes to make: 1.Blade bolt is left hand thread. 2. Allan key for assembly is stuck in storage grommet on top rear of guide upon arrival. 3. Short sharp push locates and fixes blade unit onto slide bars nothing else ,(but it is a good fit) some people have said six hours to build! I question their ability in using it too!!

Bought this almost two years ago (Dec 2018) and it is still going strong. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Easy to maintain and replace blades which isn’t that often as the blades are exceptionally good. Everything about the Evolution R210 is strong and solid with excellent UK customer service. Would definitely recommend.

Really good Quality and cuts grea
Only used a few times and worked really well. Only criticism is you do need manually adjust blade guards and guides to ensure the cuts are perfectly aligned.

Many videos online however so easy to do but saw wasn’t angle perfect straight from the box. Only 1-2 degrees out but when making frames and needing angles to align this then becomes 2-4 degrees out and mm gaps between joins.

Wouldn’t stop me buying again though and only took half hour to perfect alignments. Once tightened don’t see me needing to do this agai

Good robust tool that appears to be well thought out. It does require some assembly, but the Alan-Key required is included and the pictures/info are all pretty clear. Already have a standard circular saw from evolution, and based on that being good, I went for this tool too. I’ve already inadvertently cut through some thick nails with it, and didn’t notice a change in performance while it made the cut.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery Useful Saw
I like this machine – a lot. I find it very easy to use, reliable and most importantly of all, consistent in terms of how well it actually cuts even the haviest of timbers (I’m a chippy so chopping metal isn’t really a thing for me, for the most part). Every now and then I check that the blade is still perpendicular to the bed, and it almost always is. There is a very slight element of drift, as happens with all chop saws, but I’ve used much worse machines than this before – drift is slow and lazy so I keep a magnetic level close by to check and make very small adjustments as needed. Not a drama. I find the thing cuts to very precise angles as well which is great for framing work in particular. Oh! And if you cut properly, as opposed to doing it like a psychopath, there is next to no tear out to have to sort out.

So yep. I’ll give this little brute top marks all day long.

    This product exceeded expectations.

It is very well made and logically out together. Looking forward to working easier and more accurately.

Only critiscism is the so called manual including assembly instructions.
Done with drawings that are so small you need a magnifying glass to make sense of them.

This chop saw is very compact, easy to use and lightweight which makes it easy for the user to move it from place to place with ease. Comes in a sturdy box and well packaged. Only downside is that it has a small blade diameter which wont be a problem if u are a average DIYer like me.

A lot better than you would expect for the price
A very impressive piece of kit, especially at this price level. It seems well thought out and solidly constructed. Operation was straightforward but assembly takes a while and my only criticism is that the instruction manual could have been clearer. The assembly instructions have 64 diagrams some too small to figure out easily and checking what was delivered would have been easier if the part names in the packing list had better matched the part names on the exploded diagrams.

Once assembled, it all functioned very well and the safety features are excellent.

I would say that purchasing the matching Evolution Stand is essential – I would not be wanting to use this powerful equipment on anything less than a solid and rigid stand.

I’ve been using this for almost a year now (home DIY), using it to make picture frames, cabinets, cutting fence posts/decking planks and much more. I can honestly saw say it’s a brilliant bit of kit! Before buying I did my research via Google and Youtube and this make and model were thought highly of by most reviewers. Seeing it on offer I took the plunge and am so glad I did. With the minimum of setup its easy to use, accurate, has cut everything I’ve thrown at it (wood, mdf, metal, plastic etc) and saves so much time and effort. Its not heavy so very portable and has been stored in the boot of my car as much as the garage – doing jobs for family members!

The machine was nearly 100% but I have noticed that the sliding bar for 45 degree angle cutting not straight when parked in the normal position. Fortunately it doesn’t affect the cut as it is bent in the ‘right’ way and not excessively. I haven’t complained or returned as I need the tool for immediate use; just a little disappointed.

It’s very good for the money and the blades are excellent. It’s not forgiving, so unless you are used to using one and understand the importance of keeping the wood firm and still, and letting the blade stop before you pull the wood away, you can find the blade catching and pushing the wood back at you. Other than that it’s bob on.

Powerful, accurate and versatile beyond my own DIY needs
The thing is with a new powertool that it can take you into new places in your work simply because you have access to it. This is just one of those cases. My previous mitre saw was from Skil and it is very competent but there were angles and materials I couldn’t couldn’t consider cutting with it so they didn’t feature in my thinking on how to make or fix. I wasn’t familiar with Evolution as a brand before getting this but it seemed to offer the features of more expensive mitres from the big name brands and now that I’ve been using it, I am very happy with the quality which is beyond my expectations. The control is reassuringly solid, cutting (on a fresh blade) is effortless, the vacuum takes up the worst of the dust and the versatility of cut angles and approaches is challenging me to think of new projects for it. As with all such tools it demands respect but every effort has been made to make this safe and user friendly. Unless you are a professional putting your mitre through its paces daily, this should be all you need at a price that comes with less hidden brand marketing costs.

    Solid Value for Money
Now, like other Evolution tools I’m never quite sure what is their gear and what is brand marketed stuff with different colours….

This one I think is one of theirs. Not that it matters but Evolution do make a thing of their ‘British’ origins which, I think is stretching the envelope a tad…

Anyway. this is a good value for money chop saw. It isn’t a high end one and certainly if you are a trademan or someone who makes good furniture then probably not what you need. However, for someone needing a general purpose saw this one offers very good value indeed.

Firstly, it’s faily accurate. At least it is when you set it up well using a decent engineers square. I also keep to hand a 1-2-3 block and kids Helix angle square for 45 and 60 degree angles. That way I know that I can get a good set.

One of the things that compound saws do tend to do is cut well enough in one plane but if asked to do both i.e. tilt and angle across, I find that they tend to be out by a few degrees. This one is no exception but it is possible to set it accurately in this configuration using the aforesaid measuring tools.

Quality is good. It is firmly aimed at the home market with a price to match so don’t expect the kind of quality you would get with a pro-Makita or similar. Likewise of course you aren’t paying 5 to 6 times the price.

The plastic I think is glassfibre impregnated to give rigidity and that’s a nice touch. The base is solid and the angle marks accurate(ish).

The blade is where Evolution make a big deal with much said about being able to cut steel, alloys and wood. I’ve tried it and it can do all of them with a nice clean cut. However, the reality is that if you do use this on steel a lot, you will need a few blades spare because it will wear out fairly quickly I suspect.

That’s because the blade is very thin. The very reason this can cut well using a moderate sized motor is that the blade is thinner than most allowing the load to be lower when cutting. All fine and dandy but bear in mind that it also means not so much tungston carbide tip material as well…

Overall a godo value for money home standard compound mitre saw.

This is a nice little saw, nothing complicated about it, reasonably easy to put together, if you’re used to machine tools, and easy to operate.

It doesn’t have the power or quality to be used professionally but it’s perfectly adequate for anything you’d want to have a go at at home.

    Super piece of ki
I had been thinking about getting a sliding mitre saw for some time and decided to get one to cut skirting and architrave in a bedroom that I was about to renovate. Choosing from the huge range available is difficult, but a colleague showed me this model by Evolution because he was highly enthusiastic about an Evolution circular saw that he had recently purchased. The reviews were good and the price keen, so I chose this one and I’m glad I did.

As already mentioned by other reviewers, the pictogram assembly instructions often seem meaningless and are difficult to follow, but if time and locic are applied, assembly is fairly straightforward and I had completed the assembly using the tool supplied in a little over an hour. The instructions also show how to check for correct allignment of the blade and frame and how to adjust if required, but my saw was already set up correctly, so adjustment was unnessesary.

Other reviewers commented that using the optional stand is a must, but I didn’t have room for the stand so I intended to clamp the saw to my Workmate. In the event I simply collapsed a cardboard box and laid the saw onto that directly on the floor. The saw is quite heavy and did not move around when in use, but I would certainly use the Workmate or consider the stand for heavier timbers.

The saw is really easy to use; the clamps that maintain the angular positions are surprisingly simple to use, but are secure and effective. The workpiece clamps look a bit naff, but are remarkably effective and did not damage the workpieces at all, though they must be moved quite a long way from the blade when a 45 degree angle is to be cut. The orange coloured plastic parts used look cheap and flimsy, but are actually vey sturdy and I don’t have any reservations about them now. The saw blade effortlessly produced straight, flat cuts through the 18mm MDF skirting and architrave that I was cutting, although the 1500 Watt motor is rather noisy. Next time I will probably invest in a dedicated wood-cutting blade, as the multi-purpose blade supplied produced a few tiny chips along the cut of the pre-painted skirting I was using. The chips really are tiny though and are not noticeable when the skirting is installed. The dust collection bag is pretty ineffective and an attachment for a vacuum cleaner would be a nice improvement. However, sawdust was not really flung around and Hoovering up afterwards was quick and easy.

All in all, a bargain at just over a hundred quid, that easily produces a super, professional looking mitre that I cannot possibly make with a handsaw.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersDoes 80% of most jobs you could want for DIY /home projects
The R210SMS+ is a new 2018 model with better features than many others I have experienced over the years e.g. Wickes 2000W mitre saw – a big brute but bulky and heavy with large clear plastic guard like many others that has trouble on bevel exposes too much blade and takes time to stop from 5000+. The newer demo model has a plastic thumb trigger that broke unlike the metal trigger on a Scheppach HM80L is compact for vans, comes with handle, cheap and ideal for builders stud work but to change 2 degrees out at 90 had to unscrew many parts and with no slide versatility. Folks who buy the R210SMS- model miss the dust bag and other bits but I would recommend even with this to put a 1 meter square plastic sheet approx a foot behind held under the rear feet of the machine to collect sawdust you have a tidy workshop. This applies to any mitre saw I have used.
The safety features are on YouTube see Russell Platten’s videos on this.
When assembling ensure the Evolution or Handle is upside otherwise the side spring lock-nuts prevent the slide reversing out and needs a couple of gentle mallet + wood block taps to release – as customer support’s instructions, otherwise the videos help.
At around 100 this saw covers most jobs required by DIY’s and approx 80% of trades folks requirements but if you want more you must pay many times over this and not necessarily get 100% value for money.
Blades wear out depending on use / abuse but I am still on my first Evo (Circular saw + fitted blade) after many years but I don’t cut metal or plastic/laminates only wood so as not to blunt it or heat it up – which will obviously reduce its life.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersA good unit, but I would now prefer a table saw.
A really good saw especially if purchased on a deal (Black Friday).
I have it mounted on an evolution work stand. Using it to fit skirting and flooring at the moment. However in hind sight I wish I had bought a Table saw. A table saw would have provided many more useable options and a treaty variety of cutting sizes options rather than being restricted to only flooring board sort of sizes. Also if you want something that gives you prices angles for locking this has only preset angles which limits its use ability. Overall a good saw for the purpose it was designed, but would prefer a table saw.

A degree in rocket science needed for assembly
Like several other reviewers I too discovered that a degree in rocket science was needed to assemble this sliding saw. However once it was finally assembled it was a decent saw and fairly easy to use. This is a good quality saw and seems very durable. So apart from the difficult assembly I was impressed.

There is quite a bit of work to be done constructing the tool and I would say use the picture on the box for guidance that helped a lot. I believe there is a youtube video on the site, wished I had registered before starting.
Once constructed is a good tool for an amateur like me. Has no trouble going through planks of wood and changing blades if you need to is straight forward. Really happy with it so far.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally a very nice unit, just minor probs with the adjustments and dust bag
From initially opening the box you’re greated with a quality looking item, now mine had been dropped in transit, but the packaging had done its job and all was fine. After putting the deck together with the swivel and then the cutting head the unit looked powerful.

Initial power on you need your ear defenders, but first cuts were great. I started off doing a laminate floor, so nothing major, but taking angles, mitering a corner and even straights I was impressed with the performance with a new cutting disc.

Arranging the angles and sizes was fine, obviously you hold it yourself on a straight cut by the head swivel action was smooth and easy to sort, though i thought little too granular, I would go for Xmm and find myself off a little when the head tightened up. I sorted this with a little WD40 on the screw fittings and around the head. So out the box it needed a little lube; but who wouldn’t after being in a cardboard box.

I moved from the light laminate to some 4 x 1 planks, still no issues and later I even did a large block to cut feet for some furniture, so I was cutting down into 6 x 4 block of heart wood, quite impressively.

The head limit, that is the straight cut line, was of decent placement, but when I wanted manual control I had to take care to keep my hand steady, the return placement of the head was good too, though I found the cutter guard was a little flimsy, I would have liked a harder plastic to slide up and out the way, rather then this semi circle protector.

The dust bag was also a little on the naff side, but I can forgive it and indeed I fitted (with a jubilee clip) a duct to take the dust away rather than use the bag.

So, open it, WD40 the screw adjusts and pivot and you’re rocking…. I did actually really like the cutting action, but it’s not a perfect machine for an everyday user, the little niggles would not settle with me, but I’m a casual user, I fitted a floor, cut and repaired a gate and fence then put new feet on some lounge furniture… It was great for me. If I were a pro however, maybe not the unit I’d pick.

As a DIY enthusiast (I’m not a trader or professional in any official manner) I jumped at the chance the review this saw. I’ve previously owned a mitre saw but without the sliding mechanism, which was bought at Homebase many years ago — that was some unknown brand, but I must admit I’d also not heard of Evolution before getting this.
Anyway, I’d clearly say this is for home use. The setup was a little laborious, but it’s been perfect once complete, and although the instruction were a little unclear it wasn’t actually that hard to figure out what to do. It’s proven, for me, to be a good all-rounder, cutting through the various wooden beams and occasional metal pipe at the angle required. The sliding mechanism feels smooth, as does the rotation, both secure without any sign of wobble. The blade that comes with the gear hasn’t failed me and the motor packs enough power; I’m not sure why I’d need anything more powerful.
I would also recommend buying the stand that suits this — the Evolution Mitre Saw Stand with Extension — which really is affordable (much like the saw): http://amzn.eu/d/01s8a2O
The stand is lightweight but very sturdy when erected, and very compact when collapsed – perfect for sliding away when not required.

I bought this to replace a budget mitre saw that I had never been that happy and “Wow!” what a difference. Solidly built, feels quality in the hand, glides smoothly and cuts through wood superbly. Very nice clean cut, even through nails.

Some reviewers have commented on the assembly time but it took me less than 5 minutes and I am by no means a professional or in the building trade. Go on to YouTube where Evolution have their own assembly instruction video but look up another assembly video by Russell Platten which is significantly easier to follow.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersQuality product for the price!
This is a great sliding mitre saw for the price. It took approximately an hour and a half to construct. The instructions were rather frustrating as the images were separate from the text. This meant a lot of flipping back and forth to follow them. (see pictures)
For the job of cutting skirting boards, the blade did a great job. The dust bag not so great but I expect to clean up after sawing.
The best feature of this is the blade that can be used to cut a variety of materials. For DIY jobs around the house, this is a very handy tool.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersExcellent saw
I’m a DIYer (but a fussy one). I bought this saw to do skirting boards and beading where nice 45 degree angles are important.

3 weeks in, it has proven to be an excellent product. It’s extremely accurate and produces a very sharp, clean cut. I’ve used it on wood and brass, with both it cuts through like butter. I don’t think I will go back to a hand saw again, this is so easy to use.

Changing to different angles is very easy, the slide action is smooth and really essential, and the laser is accurate and helpful.

I also bought the stand, which is a must. It lets you set up the saw wherever you like, right near the job and at a nice working height.

If there is any criticism it’s that it takes quite a while to set up. Like other people commented there are quite a lot of components. But the instructions are very clear, and if you take your time you can get it set up nicely, you shouldn’t need to do it again.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGives professional quality results
The Evolution R210SMS+ 210 mm (230v) multi-material sliding mitre saw Is overall an excellent item for DIY use. It is easy to use, including swapping between standard cuts, mitre and bevel cuts. The blade slides easily, without movement and gives clean and accurate mitre cuts. The cable clips make for both safer use of the machine and are also particularly useful for storage where you usually wonder where to put the cable so it’s out of the way!

The only thing which really lets the saw down is the assembly instructions. If you are not familiar with such machines, the instructions aren’t too clear so may take a while to interpret – especially as the text and photos aren’t on the same pages. However, once assembled it proves worth it as the saw is very user friendly and will be perfect for my upcoming DIY tasks (new door trims, decking, fencing, the list is endless…) – I just wish I’d had it earlier! Overall the Evolution R210SMS+ 210 mm (230v) multi-material sliding mitre saw is a sound investment for any keen DIY enthusiast, enabling professional quality results. Recommended.

Easy to use but needs a fair bit of storage space.
On opening the saw the first thing you notice is that there’s a fair bit of assembly required. Once I had removed everything from the box I spread everything over the table and began with the instructions. The instructions were straightforward enough, the only problem with the instructions is that they are essentially 30+ pictures about the size of a postage stamp each and there wasn’t an instruction for the cover that goes over the two rails which took a couple of minutes to work out. Using the saw was very easy and the blade provided was excellent for cutting through the kitchen pelmets and cornices at various angles. The saw is quite big once assembled so it’s now taking up a whole shelf in my garage out of the box covered by a blanket as I didn’t want to disassemble it.

Product arrived but then took over 90 mins to assemble as it was in so many parts and you can’t understand the instructions – I was looking for a couple of screws and an allen key only to find them attached in obscure places to the machine itself. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSubstantial and effective sliding mitre saw
Having owned a non-sliding version of this saw, I thought I knew what to expect from this — but it’s an altogether more serious piece of kit.

There’s some assembly (necessary hex key included), which although pretty straightforward is not helped by somewhat vague and tiny illustrated instructions – to be honest if it’s almost easier to look at the photos on the box and figure it out for yourself.

But once it’s all together it’s a substantial and large piece of equipment — taking up a lot more space than the non-sliding version and weighing at least double. The key bit a metal and the sliding mechanism feels smooth, positive and free of play.

In use the Evolution blade cuts cleaning, quickly and leaves you with minimal clean up. The laser guide is handy, but wasn’t quite exact — so offer the blade up before cutting to be sure. As usual the dust extraction is pretty ineffective — but aren’t they all. Changing the cut depth and angle is easy too and has enough options to covers most eventualities.

This is my third piece of Evolution equipment and all have exceeded my expectations — this doesn’t disappoint either — definitely recommended for general use and perhaps light professional use.

As a very amateur DIYer I have always been envious of people with mitre saws, instead using hand saws so this is a great chance to try out an impressive bit of kit.

Setup: it took me a while to work it out but I got there with a bit of help. I have it set up on a workbench, the optional stand looks great so worth getting if you have space.

It is ridiculoulsy easy to use, using it on skirting has been simple and a whole lot more accurate and cleaner. I’ve had neighbours over (with more man skills than me) and they are very impressed, saying it seems as good as the market leader. They like the fact it can cut nails in old wood (we didn’t try it) and also the different setups. I have to say for the odd bit of work it is overkill but for the keen amateur of even professional builder this is a fully featured bit of kit at a good price.

Evolution seems to be a name to look out for.

A very good piece of equipme
Just before Christmas in 1999, I bought an electric hand planer to use while building a new porch for our house. I was almost ready to pack up and decided to plane one last bit of timber. I then had a little accident, resulting in my spending most of that holiday observing first hand how the NHS works during the festive season. The fingers I mutilated still tingle to this day. Consequently, I have never been particularly keen on powered rotating cutting tools.

I’ve often struggled since while trying to cut bits of wood and metal to accurate angles by hand, so I broke my own self-imposed rule and decided to give this new machine a try. I’m pleased to say I’m glad I did.

It seems to be well made, although there are bits of it that don’t seem to be quite up to the standard of my usual Makita power tools (the clamps seem a bit tinny for example – they’re fine, but not top of the range engineering). In spite of the minimal instructions, it was easy to set up and use.

I think I’m going to take the advice of my one of my fellow reviewers and buy a stand for it as it felt a bit awkward just sitting on my workbench. As the blade is mainly hidden by the guard in use, I’m happy that my fingers will be safe with it.

You get everything you need in the box, and a decent 3 metre lead too. Although I’ve only used it for a short time so far, I’m most impressed with the ease with which it cuts through wood, and I’ve tried it on a bit of 1/8″ wall 1″ square box-section steel which it handled with no problems.

As an update (late November 2019), I needed to cut some pieces of 6mm x 80mm flat mild steel bar for a job this week and tried the machine again. Frankly, I couldn’t believe just how easily it went through them. It took less than ten seconds for each cut. My power hacksaw would have taken a minute each at least and my Eclipse (hand) hacksaw would have taken five minutes (with commensurate sweating and inaccuracy).

I don’t know how long the blade would last doing this a lot, but it was so easy and precise that it made me appreciate the machine a lot more. My only observation is that there’s an awful lot of swarf to clear up after metal cutting and it does tend to get lost in the nooks and crannies of the machine.

To sum up, if I’d bought it, I’d have been very pleased with it, and I’m also delighted that it has restored my long lost confidence in powered cutting tools.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersA great saw from an up and coming name in the power tool business.
An impressive addition to my “tool box”.
The saw arrives will minimal setting up required, so is easy and quick to get set up, ready for use…. which is good as the instructions are a little on the poor side.
Everything you need to get going comes in the box, no need to go buy a blade or dust bag etc, but I have purchased the stand, which I think is a worthwhile investment as it allows me to use the saw anywhere I choose rather than limiting me to my workshop.
So far I have made shelving boxes with a mitred edge, a planter and a small garden table …. quick and easy items to test the saw.
I used decking boards, fence boards and old scaffold boards, each varied in size and I got a good cut on all.
Using old scaffold boards is always a bit of a risk, there are stray nails, metal banding around the ends, bits of spilt this and that on the wood ( all adds to their rustic charm) but the saw had no problems with them at all, it cut cleanly and the gave me a crisp, clean cut to work with, most impressive.
