I find these fire lighters to be really reliable, I only use one each time I light the my fire and although I may need to hold a match to the lighter for a few moments (until it’s properly caught) once it’s going, it’s going – they’ve never failed to get my fire off to a good start!

Flamers are brilliant things. 2 will light any fire or woodburner without any trouble. We have previously purchased boxes of 50 locally but a box of 200 was much cheaper, although some of the flamers are smaller, they still do the job! They arrived really quickly too.

I find flamers to be excellent firelighters, I seldom need more than one or two of them under some kindling, or even smaller logs, they light easily, they burn for a long time and start the fire very well.
The prices do fluctuate, but, the 200 packs seem to be the cheapest way of buying them.

Brilliant for coal fires too.
We had these in a rented cottage for the wood burner and they were so good I got some for home. We now use them instead of a load of newspaper to get the kindling alight in our open coal fire. One fire lighter does the job much better than an entire newspaper. Fire going much more quickly. Happy days.

If people are having problems lighting their fires with these, I can only assume they are trying to burn logs they’ve just pulled out of the local stream. With decent kindling and kiln dried logs, one of these is always enough to get our log burner going very quickly. Even the thin ones. Easy to use, no chemicals, I always come back to these, they are excellent. Yes they are a bit crumbly sometimes, so just don’t crush them in your hands and they’re fine.
Flaming heck
These are great for BBQs, they get briquettes and lumpwood ignited quickly and efficiently, without that lingering chemical flavour from firelighters. Great product and reliably and responsibly sourced too.

Inconsistent sizing, but good value
Lack the consistent sizing of Flamers in smaller pack – some as thin as my pinkie! Nevertheless, they do the job and the large pack represents good value for money.

These little bundles of shavings are fabulous! I come from the old school fire starter camp, a knotted sheet of newspaper, a match and a wish. Not a fan of the chemical brick things. When we got our new wood burner installed a sample pack of these was given to us by the installer. I thought it was going to be a bit gimmicky, I was so wrong!
These shavings are dipped in paraffin wax and they keep going for a long time, longer than traditional white brick firelighters. No nasty fumes either too. You only need one to get a good strong fire going, place in the centre of a triangular jenga nest pile of kindling and light. Sit back and enjoy the glow.

Excellent produc
Throw out your old newspapers, this is the business for lighting your fire. One little cylinder of wax coated shaving lights up every time. Just put a few pieces of kindling around one cylinder, and a small log over the top and light up. Works every time.

Brilliant product and a fantastic price for 50 of them. One flamer and a small pile of kindling and you’re away. Going to try and few on a charcoal BBQ over the coming weeks too (1 under a chimmney starter will probably work very well).

Firelighters by Flamers
Been using for a couple of years now. Best invention ever. No mess. Economical. I use two to get the kindling going. Brilliant.
We have a wood burner at home and use compressed oak waste logs, they are very low moisture and when burning generate a huge amount of heat. The downside is that they need a concentrated flame for much longer than kiln dried logs to take initially. I’ve tried several different firelighters with mixed success and in the end resorted to using wax candle stubs with paper and some kindling.
We bought the Flamers based partially on previous reviews and ratings and also because we knew that wax candles worked although it was an expensive fix. Long story short I no longer use kindling or paper but position one or two flamers directly under the logs and whilst it takes 10-15 minutes longer for the fire to take it’s been a success every time.
I’m all for making life easier and will definitely buy again and it’s one less thing to think about at home this winter.

I can see why, they are excellent, one of these and a few sticks of kindling is all that you need. (Well a match helps)

I’ve now tried these absolutely excellent. I only needed I firelighter to light my kindling and my logs soon caught fire. There is no mess and no smell I would certainly recommend this product it is environmentally friendly, economic and effective.

hese do a great job. I use one per load of charcoal in our bbq and they light it within 10 mins. They light easily and don’t smoke much. They must burn hot as they light lump wood charcoal quickly and easily.

There were a lot of broken bits from the individual coils. But do the job. Used the broken bits to light one day f the fires.

great lighters. makes lighting the wood burner so much easier. i tend to use 2 lighters ever time i light then fire. usually place some cardboard at the bottom of the wood burner. light 2 flamers, then put some kindling on top, with more cardboard and then finally the logs on top. success every time.

These are outstanding. Was recommended by our local stove shop, one gets our kindling alight in seconds and burns hot enough to light the whole pile. Great value box as well. It’s a bulk box, not several smaller ones, so you do need to have somewhere to put the big box. No nasty fumes or petrolium based smoke either, they’re just wood and a bit of wax to hold them together.

These firefighters are the best eco lighters I have come across. Used one to get my inset stove going this evening and within minutes my kindling and logs were on the go. Will definitely be buying more.
These natural firelighters work really well. I used to use scrunched up newspaper to light my fire, but I’d often have to re-light the paper or use more than one match to get the flame started. These firelighters work SO much better. Once lit, they produce a strong and reliable flame, enough to get kindling wood aflame within half a minute or so. They don’t cause any noticeable odour when burning, and I like the fact that they are made from materials that are sustainable and natural. I use them for starting the fire in my wood burner and am delighted with them.

I was looking for a “natural” fire lighter for a pizza oven. This is one of the few I found.
It’s great. One lighter will easily set kindling going under a large wooden stack. They light instantly and easily.
They do have trouble lighting the O Sole Mio logs I have but that’s more about the O Sole Mio logs as I find them difficult to light, even with a gas blow lamp and kindling., but with solid beech logs they are a wonder.
UPDATE – Well, after many years of lighting fires I was bowled over by a YouTube video about… lighting fires. This new flawless way of lighting a wood fire is amazing and I don’t even need to sit there and blow on it occasionally! I now do this regularly in my pizza oven… The upside down method…
1. Put 2 large logs down next to each other.
2. Put 2 smaller logs across the large ones at 90 degrees.
3. Put kindling on the top (yes, on the top)
4. Put ONE firelighter on top of the kindling. (yes one!)
5. Light the lighter and walk away.
This method draws air up through the stack so burns hotter than doing it with the lighter underneath. It also burns down to the larger wood quicker as the heat above dries the wood, heats it up and then sets light to it when the flame touches it. It really was a revelation.

Flamers are a brilliant firelighter. We first came across them when in a tipi, where you need as much smokeless fuel as possible. However, they’re actually good in their own right, and burn for longer than the paraffin soaked cubes that we’d normally have bought.
It’s also nice to be able to use a firelighter that doesn’t coat your hands in foul smelling chemicals, and even though it’s probably psychological, I feel better cooking on them too.
A normal BBQ will need about 3/4 to get going. They’re spirals of wood shaving so they light instantly, and are also resilient to gusts of wind too.
If you’re in two minds about them, give it a go as you won’t be disappointed.
We have tried several different “Eco” fire lighter but these are by far and away the best. They are inexpensive, well packaged and I’ve only ever needed one to light our wood burner so they work out very economical.
These do not smell at all. I use one to light my wood fire with small amount of kindling and a compressed softwood block. I then put my wood on top and light the flamer. It works every time but the great thing is there is no smell as there is from traditional firelighters.
