Bought the stat and controller found them easy to install and they prove to be very efficient with a great Hive app for the mobile which allows remote control of my heating
Just a touch on your phone to alter settings, no more aching arms to adjust your thermometer on the wall and going through all the series of settings, so much easier and so much better. So glad I bought it. Would definitely recommend it.
My Hive replaced a wireless room thermostat and remote timer for my combi boiler, Potterton Gold 33. It involved disconnecting and discarding the remote timer and changing the existing receiver. This was one out one in, really straightforward. Followed the instructions for setting up the hub, thermostat and receiver and everything worked first time . The thermostat is straightforward to use if you read the instructions FIRST ! Very pleased with it so far.
I bought this as a gift. It was a upgrade from an old thermostat and has made the user really happy. Also integrates with Alexa. Installation was done by British gas fr a good price. This was a slightly older model than currently on sale but not miss6any major features.
I watched some videos about installing one of these and thought that it didn’t look to difficult so I bought the kid and installed it myself.
All works fine and didn’t have any real problems installing. Give me more control of the house heating especially if we are a way from the house for any length of time and just want turn things off and on remotely.
Got total control of heating now. No more leaving it on will save money
Connection to hub and Alexa is straightforward. Easy to add own settings in app and the suggested ones is also a big help. Really impressed so far.

I love this .not sure why I waited so long to get the hive thermostat.hooked up to alexa this is magic arrived fast and well packaged .I did get a engineer to fit it but connecting to the WiFi then alexa is easy
Easy to install and was a good improvement to low my Gas bill .
Amazon gave a discount if we use the Hero to install it. However after a week the only person that came to my aid. Charged 170 to install it. This was more expensive than the hive itself. I managed to find a friend who still charged 80. So all in all, it was an expensive purchase.
Installed hive thermostat for heating to a vaillant ecotec 834 boiler and it has made an immediate difference it was very easy to install and set up,I’ve used it to replace the vaillant wireless control which was pretty useless, if we your planning on fitting a wireless controller then don’t hesitate treat yourself to the hive and find out just how much it can do.
Yes works fine and works very well with Alexa.
But I preferred the Nest motion detection in that if I walked into the room I could see the setting…. Hive needs you to press a button.
And the hive is a larger chunky unit compared to the sleeker better looking nest.
So yes it works well and I’m happy with it but if I had the choice again I’d go with Nes
This product has been a genuine game changer. I now can change the temperature of the house on my way home from work or when I’m out walking the dogs. It has saved me quite a bit of money as I don’t need to keep the heating on alll the time. The Mrs loves taking it when the house is warm.
Had a gas engineer fit this for a fair price . Does exactly what his says and what I needed .
Instead of the old thermostat being in the kitchen. . It’s now in the lounge , where we spend most of our time . We use Alexa with it. And it’s handy to adjust heating when your on your way home
Nothing to dislike. Really easy to use and install. Did not need tech help as worked as soon as the hub and sender were installed. Hardly need touch the hive as I just tell alexa what I want.

Thought I’d go for the Hive thermostat, control and hub after installing another brand a while ago. This kit is easy to install with clear instructions. All three devices started ‘talking’ to each other with no extra help from me! Works well with the app.

Welcome to the 21st century, great replacement for my old thermostat. Really pleased with how this works, so easy to operate either manually or by the phone app and the really good thing is you can control your heating away from your home so you can come home to a nice warm house without having to wait for the heat to get up to temperature after you return home. Was easy to fit and set up myself but, be careful if you are not fairly handy with DIY and electrics, if in doubt get a qualified person to install.
Wired it myself, with the help of YouTube due to there not being a wiring diagram in the box , all together simple to wire to a Worcester combi.

We love this. It was installed by the engineer after fitting a new boiler. At first the hub would not connect to our internet and he had to call tech support who resolved the problem fairly quickly. The system works beautifully. You can set up a schedule to control the heating each day. You can also control via a thermostat and an app on your phone, which means you can adjust the heating remotely. We think this is brilliant and so easy to use
Had a Salus thermostat connected to my Valiant boiler, not impressed, replaced it with a Hive, best thing I ever did.
Our sickening, incompetent, corrupt government has seen fit to place the ability to warm our houses **in the hands of an aggressive foreign power**. Does that fact alone REALLY not even motivate you in the slightest to spend just a few minutes NOT watching Love Island or whatever the latest TV garbage is, and instead perhaps learn how your own heating works?
Just look at all the numpties on here wasting hundreds of pounds on so-called “professional fitting” and wailing on here when they don’t get what they want. Sheesh, fools and their money? Easily parted much?
Listen up people – You DON’T need to wait weeks for a lazy job’s-worth-with-a-badge, on a disgracefully high hourly rate, to eventually condescend to dragging his knuckles up your garden path to fit this product. It is no more complicated than wiring a plug!
Just Google for “hive manual”, you go to page 12 of the PDF, and you are presented with the image attached to this review. “Oooooooooh nooooooo! Looks complicated! Nah, can’t do this now anyway, Simon Cowell is on the telly!” (facepalm)
All you have to do is wire neutral from your fuse box to N, wire live to both the L and Common terminals, and then terminal 3 is the live that turns your combi boiler heating on. Just make a note of what wire that is when you unscrew your old thermostat, and that’s it, you’re laughing. Amazon delivered this, fifteen minutes it took me to install it, added the Hive skill to Alexa, and I was done – I had a lovely new voice-controlled heating system, and an extra two hundred quid still in the bank to boot.
The device itself is excellent, looks lovely, has a gorgeous clear colourful display, is easy to use, and you can switch your heating up, down, on or off via voice or directly from your phone even when you’re away from home.
Very, very pleased with this. I couldn’t ask for more in fact.
Brill control works instantly with the boiler for heating only problem I had was my hive hub was faulty but amazon sent a replacement in 2 working days
Digital control of heating and hot water via an app from anywhere there’s a signal. Add others such as security cameras/lights or thermostatic radiator valves. The hub best installed by qualified electrician as wired to boiler but the thermostat and connection to the router are simple.

The system I fitted was the hive active heating system which activates the combi boiler and the water storage tank and I love how easy the app is to use.

I like the fact I can control Hive from my phone as I’m disabled so don’t have to get up to change the thermostat. It’s easy to use.
We managed to get the hive wired in fairly easily given ours is an older boiler. We then tried to set up the connections and that was definitely not simple. We initially got it working with the thermostat but couldn’t get it connected on the app so had to basically start from scratch again and eventually it all connected. We have had one instance of losing connection but on the whole it’s been fine. I do love how easy it is to schedule, boost and advance even without being in the house.

Works fine easy to programe only one snag if replacing on two wire system need s to connect to terminals 1 & 3 this is not clear on instructions

Unit arrived as promised. Arranged for British Gas engineer to fit. He fitted it but didn’t test it was working ok – which it wasn’t. Then a nightmare trying to contact British Gas – visit to correct finally sorted by Hive Tech support – British Gas left us without heating/hot water for 4 days before returning. Original engineer had inadvertently disconnect a cable. You decide if the installation element was worth 120 [which took both guys less than 30 minutes.
Got this installed by British Gas. It’s a huge improvement over the decades old thermostat. We can control the heating via the Hive App aswell as Alexa. WOULD RECOMMEND A LOT!

This thermostat is great at everything except if you work shifts.
My shift pattern is 10 days long. Hive will only work for you if you have a strict Monday to Friday routine.
I do 2 earlies (0700-1700), 2 lates (1300-2300), 2 nights (2300-0700) then 4 days off.
So this doesn’t work for me in anyway. Hopefully in the future they will add a new system for shift workers. But otherwise it’s really good You can see what I mean re the rigidity in the photo I attached too.
I was a bit skeptical about the Hive after reading a few reviews but am happy with the product. Being able control my heating from the phone app and linking it Alexa makes it so convenient. It was a 2 month wait from order until installation and could not be able to arrange installation online, but arranging installation over the phone was easy and the operator was very helpful.
This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever invested in. It’s so much better than a timer as it can be changed as plans alter spontaneously and I’ve not even begin to connect it to other household items or an Alexa. I’d highly recommend it.

I went for hive with British has install.
Everything was perfect, inataller installed it and trained me on how to use the app.
I work odd hours (don’t come home same time each night and goto work early some days and late others) the app makes it so easy, I have default settings but override them I’m I’m coming home late etc.
This is a really simple to use system. Love having the ability to turn heating and water on and off remotely, and pairing it with IFTTT allows for even greater control.

Getting really used to control the heating and hot water via my iPhone with this – would definitely recommend the fitted option as the engineer was at our house 3 hours and seemed to struggle a bit with the existing system set up…so that’s good value for money in my book !
Great price at the time including the installation. Completely easy to follow instructions to book your appointment with British Gas and my engineer was great. I brought the a stand rather than having it fixed in one room and I love it!
I like the ease it is to use this, I had it fitted yesterday by a lovely British Gas installer and he was excellent, he went through all the scenarios of operating the Hive so was very happy.
Works well, installation took some time by the engineer but it works work. Heard if there are some issues in the beginning, then likely to encounter more issues. It sounds a bit of a hit or miss but worked well for me.

The system has worked very well since I have had it fitted.the engineer that fitted explained the system to me and how to troubleshoot. I have not had to revert to that yet.
Great product as I’ve used it in the past but be aware there are a lack of appointments to install it at the moment . We are in the Leicestershire area and no appointments are available until April 2020!

Really love my hive it works brilliantly and the installation was no fuss. It’s integrated fully to Alexa so I have multiple ways to Control the heating. My only gripe is that the engineer didn’t fix the thermostat to the wall as part of Installation. But overall extremely happy x
The product is fantastic, super easy to control via the app. The installation was easy to arrange and the British Gas engineer who came to install it was efficient and friendly and talked me through the app and how to use the product. I’m very happy with my purchase.
I was reluctant to ‘tech’ up our house but absolutely love this bit of kit! We had a new boiler fitted so decided we would get one of these, so glad we did, so easy to control the heating o my phone using ‘Google Home’, if it gets really cold I can even turn the heating on from work to keep the cats warm and to warm the house up before we get home. Same with the hot water, totally easy to ‘boost’ it and turn it on or off. Highly recommend this. We have also purchased the sockets so our lamps are connected to the hive and are voice activated through Google Home.
