The DKP180Z is an 18V Li-ion Planer, delivering up to 14,000 rpm. It features a blade cutter head with double carbide blades for added performance and a smooth finish. Easy blade setting system for faster blade instalation. Spring loaded stand elevates the base to protect the blades and workpiece.
Click depth adjustment knob with an easy to read scale, settings from 0 to 2mm for precise depth adjustment. Electric brake.
The DKP180Z is connectable to Makita dust extraction systems and dust bag assembly.

My first cordless plane and exceeded expectations, battery life not great even with 5amp batteries but good enough!
Used this to ease a couple of doors. Plenty of power and seems efficient with it too.
Well balanced planer, cuts up to 2mm and with ease
The reason for the 4 stars is because shame on Makita they should give the bevel fence along with the efixed edge guide.
Here in the US you don’t even get the fixed edge guide. Bare planer, and that’s it.
Wish Makita would get with the program and come out with an X2 cordless tablesaw.

Just brilliant, smooth sharp cutters, easily adjusted, and maintains speed under load. Mine came with rebate/straight edge guide and blade setting tool. Recommended

Makita liefert wie erwartet mal wieder ein Spitzenprodukt ab. Klare Kaufempfehlung. Mit dem 4ah Akku ist die Maschine auch gut ausbalanciert. Wer schon Akkus im Bestand hat kann hier gut sparen. Die Tiefeneinstellung finde ich ein wenig verwirrend bei mehreren Umderehungen des Drehknopfs, jedoch ist dies Klagen auf sehr sehr hohem Niveau und somit eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Building fitted bedroom units and I found this product very useful for shaving small amounts from edges, especially when making and fitting wardrobe doors…I feel the Makita tools I’m using for this project are doing half the work for me including Makita Planer DKP180z

So much better than my old corded planer. A heavy duty battery is useful if a lot of planing is to be done. Remember to take the battery out if not being used … this could do a lot af damage to fingers!
Habe die erste Makita Akku Hobelmaschine bin damit sehr zufrieden brauche sie nur zum einpassen von
Blenden und zum abfasen von Leisten da ich schon Akkus von Makita vorhanden waren habe ich kein Ladegert und
Akkus gebraucht.Endlich kein Kabelsalat meh
Scheinbar hat mein Hickory die Grenzen der Aluminiumbodenschienenbelastung erreicht. Ein schner langer Kratzer durch Holz. Das geht sicher auch besser. Sonst wie immer gute Leistung von Makita. Aber die Schiene sollte verbessert werden.
I can’t vouch for the performance of the product (bought as a new toy for husband) but it’s as described and arrived swiftly. It’s Makita so decent quality (and usually worth the price)
Saved me lots of time and effort compared to a hand plane. Trimmed and hung four interior doors with ease. We have found many other uses for it since.
worked last year in a heavy joinery and found the machine did the best job you can imagine but only with 5amp . don.t let eastern Europeans use. too heavy handed and you know that mindy
Schafft problemlos Harthlzer, dann vielleicht nicht direkt mit 2mm. Schluckt ganz gut Akku, aber dass darf und sollte sie auch bei der Leistung.
Zubehr, wie Parallelanschlag ist auch dabei.

Great item, has taken hours of jobs for sanding, you’d want the big 5amp batteries for it though as it really sucks the power out of them!

What’s not to like? Quality product from Makita, appropriately heavy so it stays on task and moves smoothly across the wood. So far works very well. Only downside is it drains my 3ah quite quickly, so 5ah batteries probably recommended.

This was a bit of an extra treat for me as I have a couple of corded planners and dont use them all day every day. However I wanted to give this a go and I am glad I did.
Like all the Makita 18v range I have used so far, this is just great quality and a real joy to use and I already know that its going to make the jobs that I use it for so much easier when I am not scrabbling around for a plug.
Seems to be powerful enough and seems to be a real decent build quality. All set up and ready to go and so very happy with this so far.
Ive suck a 5amp battery on it and that powers it just great.

Really handy piece of kit I know it only takes off 2mm and does even struggle with that sometimes when doing oak I use the 5. O batteries with it which work great. can be a bit annoying when the batteries runs out mid cut but would recommend.

Nicht ganz so optimal finde ich die Schnitt-Tiefen-Einstellung. Trotz Tiefenanzeige am Drehrad, lsst sich die Schnitt-Tiefe nicht ohne weiteres ablesen geschweige denn anhand der Markierung einstellen. Vielleicht habe ich das Einstell-Prinzip nicht verstanden, aber ich empfehle lieber zuerst an einer unkritischen Stelle die Schnitt-Tiefe zu testen.
Ansonsten ist der Hobel angenehm leise und gut kontrollierbar. Dank 18V Kompatibilitt eine super Ergnzung zu meinem restlichen Makita “Fuhrpark” 🙂
A wonderful solid build, not too heavy, feels almost effortless yet still feels very accomplished. Love the fine control depth settings. I was surprised that it wasn’t that noisy. Highly recommended.

Ich habe den Hobel gekauft um ein Holzgelnder von altem Lack zu befreien, das hat wunderbar funktioniert. Ich konnte damit gut eine halbe Stunde arbeiten ohne den Akku nachladen zu mssen. Nur der Einschaltknopf lsst sich etwas umstndlich bedienen, aber das ist wahrscheinlich sicherer so und man wird sich mit der Zeit an die richtige Bediehnreihenfolge gewhnen.

Not sure I like the little spring out blade protector underneath though,
I found it got in the way when working on a door, I may look at taking that off.
This is easy to use,,easy to control depth of cut. Top quality tool.
Wasn’t sure whether it was going to cut the mustard but this has already paid for itself in time saved.

You MUST get the bag separately but that is worth it. It saves so much clearing up.
The bag catches 90% of the dust and is easy and clean to empty. The bag is a bit bulky to carry around though but that doesn’t come with it.
Great tool, a 1000 times easier than using a corded planer. Well made as usual and the snob on the back to keep the blades off the floor is excelle

What I like
– Strong, sturdy construction
– Part of a line of tools that use the same battery
– VERY powerful, never had any problems even with deep cuts
– Can make precise adjustments to cutting depth
What I dislike
– The place where shavings are ejected is an oval shape; you cant connect a vacuum to extract the dust/shavings
– The little V that runs along the bottom (for planing corners) is not very deep. It is quite easy to slip off a 45 angle
Best cordless planer out at the moment, nearly as powerful as the kp0800 and very similar to use. However, like the kp0800 the depth adjustment is a bit vague and can turn below 0 and way beyond 2mm. Not sure why Makita doesn’t limit this like they do on the kp0810, so the depth adjustment is more precise. Has a great blade brake, is quiet but does eat batteries when planing 2mm. Ideal for shooting in doors, scribing arcs etc
Solid built, cuts well, heavy with battery fitted but very convenient.
J’apprcie normment la libert du sans fil et la puissance du 18v.
L’appareil n’est ni trop lger ni trop lourd, il est facile d’utilisation et d’entretien, la poigne est bien ergonomique et le rglage de profondeur de rabotage par molette est pratique et bien situ.
Si il a un seul dfaut, c’est la consommation lectrique : une 4 Ah Makita ne fait pas long feu!!!! Il vaut mieux avoir plusieurs batteries et en garder une toujours pleinement charge.
Une machine qui vaut son prix. Pour moi, il y a Makita d’un ct et il y a les autres…

Brought this to replace my old Bosch. Christ on a bike it’s good. Great power. Pretty quite. /triggers on both sides so great for left or right handed use. Top piece of kit.
Don’t hesitate just buy as no more lead to babysit and with a 4ah battery you can hang around 4-5 doors per charge
borrow this planner from builder friend fantastic to use so bought my own almost love it as much as my cordless saw

Get the extractor bag too. Its expensive but means you can plane in the customers house and don’t have to go outside to work!
Marita planner as expected a super product for its money unfortunately I had to return as my partner had already purchased one but the supplier made the return really easy and refund very fast.
I have been using this makita planer for 3weeks I’ve hung about 30 doors so far it is a quality bit of kit.

Does everything like its corded counterpart. A little heavy, but I decided that’s a good thing. Using it with generic 5amp vs 3amp battery and it works flawlessly.
The best thing Ive ever bought, so easy to use and store, well worth the money.

great planer (found amazon to be the best price for the bare unit) ,,very solid for a 18v tool,,nice weight which helps you keep it flat, if only the tight fisted guys at makita supplied it with a dust bag like every other make, got one for 10 from ebay so not such an issue

Very surprised with the power of this battery planer WOW !
Very handy to use. The drum / blade mounting system is rather light weight /flimsey presumably to keep the inertia down and battery life up but it seems to work ok. It also has a rather annoying spring down leg so you can put the planer down on the deck with the blade still spinning. I find it just gets in the way in use so i have removed mine.
