The DTD152Z is an 18V cordless impact driver powered by 18V Li-ion battery (not included) and developed for main applications such as tightening of self-drilling screws or light duty machine screws.

Makita impact driver is a brilliant product but the packaging it arrived in was awful. The impact driver was almost hanging out the box, with just a token amount of bubble wrap to protect it. Seems silly to skimp on packaging, especially on a relatively expensive product, its like falling at the last fence!
An impact driver is the single most useful tool I have every bought.
With a bit adaptor , it doubles as a drill for simple uses.
While this is not a brushless model it performs very well driving 5 inch screws into timber easily without the need for pilot drilling
Great value for this impact driver especially as its a Makita .
Overall value for money, but not had it long enogh to give a totally fair assessment.

This is a brushed unit, not a brushless one. It does not lack power though, and it develops roughly the same torque as the brushless unit. Does have one HUGE benefit in my opinion though, as it is a slightly older unit than the latest kit, this one is not made in China ! For the price it is a no brainer. Cracking little unit.
If you are already in the LXT ecosystem you can’t go wrong, I use mine for removing undertrays on cars when servicing them.
Only power level mode (as opposed to 4 in the newest model), but the trigger sesitivity is good enough. Great price. Sturdy and fine, as most Makita products.
The impact driver is superb, plenty of power and lightweight and compact. It doesn’t come with battery hence the cheap price 40.
It does get a bit warm if you try and control the trigger. Highly recommend if you already have battery this impact driver is a bargain!!
Great Drill drives Screws of varying lengths with ease, is not a complete replacement for my non impact drivers as it can because of the power strip the screw in soft wood

Brilliant little gun ,that has a lot of power for its size. I normally pair it up with a 3 or 4 amp battery. Does a great job.
Put my fence up 12m long screwed 56 slats along all on 1 battery charge, use all the time now, my makita drill driver is now just a drill

This is a good product if you can control it with your finger. I couldn’t so I sent it back and bought another with torque settings which is brilliant. This is very powerful and i would recommend it. If you are used to controlling one of these with your finge
This is a great power tool for construction work. It’s powerful and quick and great battery life
Battery does not fit properly. Keeps stopping mid flow. Swapped the battery I have with other devices and works fine. These are obviously crappy seconds from factory. Not cheap either. Stay well clear!!

does what its says on the box, and should last for a very long time. Trial and error for all impact drivers – Messed up a few screwheads, have leaned the hard way to use a perfect fit bit with good quality screws. Quite amazing the way screws are in or out in a flash.

I’ve had two of these drills now and I can’t fault them in any way they are so powerful and do the job well. And it’s nice that they are brand-new in box with warranty good genuine stuff from Makita.

This is my first Impact Driver ….. just a pity I only discovered how good it is, having just built myself a new workbench with in excess of 130 screws only a couple of weeks before seeing one in use. No more swapping drill bits to screwdriver bits in my Makita drill and back again. No serious DIYer should be without one.

Already have Makita battery hand tools so a bare bones unit purchase made sense. Excellent quality unit as you’d expect of Makita. The only negative that I have is that the torque setting isn’t variable, otherwise excellent.

The driver bit sometimes gets jammed in the holder otherwise it does what it’s meant to do.

Got this with 10 off when using the Amazon mobile phone app. Great bit of kit and much more efficient than using normal drill/drivers and small form means you can get into tighter spaces. Overall worth buying especially if you already have the batteries

Perfect size for the toolbox. All my colleges are very impressed with the power and torque . Should of upgraded along time ago but hey got there in the end. 10/10 great everyday peice of equipment !
The impact driver is good value for money, but is a bit slow, when driving wood screwed into sleepers, otherwise a good buy

First one smoked and burnt out, replacement has been fine so far.
I have other Makita tools that have lasted so assuming this will be the same.
. Can only say good things about it. Easier to use than a drill making jobs easier and quicker to do. Have a few Makita tools and batteries and makes sense to stay on this platform.
Great impact drivers but don’t drop them from 8ms up they snap in half and that’s the end of that. It was only 3 months old as well.

Great driver when paired with the 5Amp battery.
I am a tradesman and this tool is on the go all day every day. If you do a lot of work which involves screws and drilling timber, this is the tool to use. Cheeper than a combi drill and more effective
This impact driver is a perfect partner for a larger makita cordless combo drill that I have. It’s smaller size and lighter weight make it easy to use. The led work light is also a useful feature giving a clear view when working in darker corners. As I don’t use the drill excessively i don’t need the more expensive brushless motor version so this model is great value for money.
Got it as a birthday present was very happy with the results and boyfriend loved it!!
Makita is a well established reliable brand that is good quality and long lasting and to buy it at this low price was too good to pass buy.
I have tried all sorts of manufacturers for my battery tools but I have found that Makita have been the best performer. Light and ergonomic in the hand.
I can’t find fault in them.
This impact driver is a perfect partner for a larger makita cordless combo drill that I have. It’s smaller size and lighter weight make it easy to use. The led work light is also a useful feature giving a clear view when working in darker corners. As I don’t use the drill excessively i don’t need the more expensive brushless motor version so this model is great value for money.
Great tool been using it on a roof, drives in screws well.

I’ve used it for a few relatively small projects and at no time was it out of it’s depth. It drives screws in pretty quickly. The trigger pressure alters the speed, a nice touch of course. The battery (assuming you get or have one, because without one, it’s an ornament), of even the smallest capacity goes for a good time and is quickly recharged (cup of coffee and you’re ready to go again). You can get a similar drill from Makita for a few quid more which has a brushless motor, the advantage of which is that it’ll last longer. Perhaps something to consider if you use an impact driver a lot. But this one, to add to your DIY tool kit is ideal. Punches above it’s weight and I bet will outlast many users. In fact, it isn’t too out of it’s depth in a professional’s tool box I’d say.
One other thing. Makita batteries aren’t cheap. But they are good. You can get ones made by others and there are varying reports on their effectiveness. At best, they seem to be okay but don’t last as long between charges. At worst, as useful as a chocolate fireguard. I’d stick with the genuine ones.

Good gun. You get what you pay for. But it’s good quality
Excellent price for a BL model, very comfortable in the hand and plenty of power for its size.
No real gripes, although since there is no impact power selector it is very easy to over tighten and shear the screws.

Like other users i was a little suprised by the packaging, a it wasn’t branded just a cardboard box. However I have beennising the product for a few months and I love it and have no issues.
Husband bought himself this for his birthday 6 month ago and comments every time he does a job how much of a difference it makes compared with his normal drill-driver. The light is really useful as well. We renovated two houses without one and now feel like mugs for not getting one sooner.
