Very fast so ideal for driving screws or drilling holes into wood. Lightness and speed/power are its strong points, and at 60 fantastic value if you have the Makita platform of batteries and chargers. Not really sensitive enough for low speed driving, a combi drill does all that, and more, better. It complements a combi drill rather than replacing it.

If you’re looking for an impact driver for small jobs I would highly recommend this product. The price is ridiculously cheap, you can’t go wrong. Obviously this impact driver cannot cope with larger screws due to it’s size. However it’s small and lightweight and screws up to 3 inches just fly in. Make sure you buy impact rated drill bits otherwise they will constantly shatter.

I have always resisted buying an impact driver, after all I have a decent drill. After spraining my wrist whilst not focusing on what I was doing (with the drill) I decided to invest in one and what an eye opener! All the drive power of a drill but without any of the wrist knackering torque. Add one to your toolkit, you will not regret it.

I really don’t know why I didn’t get one of these sooner. Been doing loads of diy jobs around the house and find some restricted areas I can get my combi drill into. This impact driver is a great size and weight so u don’t feel too fatigue for using for the whole day. I would recommend to get some of the long impact screw attachments for this as it makes jobs so much easie

Been hovering over getting an impact driver for a while and with a major DIY project looming, decided to pull the trigger. Wish i had done it sooner – yes you can manage with a drill driver, but its so much easier with one of these, wish i had got one ages ago. The Makita driver is light, small, incredibly powerful and the work light very handy. As i already had Makita products, didn’t need the charger or battery, so being able to just get the drill was perfect.

    Light fast drive
Seems like an added gadget until you have it and have say a big task that requires repetitive fixing like a cabin roof and then it comes into it’s own and is different from a normal drill/ driver combo. Drives through – lasts a long time and is lighter than a normal drill.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersFabulous drive
Small and compact, this is ideal for all your hex-shanked needs – hole cutters, sockets, screw driving.

Screwdriving into wood in particular is an utter joy. Oh, bolts as well. Active fixing bolts – no bother.

Had a makita 18v drill for ages and wish I’d had this too, years ago.

    Great, sturdy, well engineered kit.

Torque works really well too – scales with the amount of trigger your using. Give it full beans and the torque it applies is huge and the clutch won’t slip.. Gentle with it and the clutch will slip and much less resistance – perfect.

Been using this to do a ceiling frame and a stud wall. Like my other Makita tools it has not missed a beat. Without any settings, you just get a feel for it and can control it really well. Stopping without breaking the surface paper on a plasterboard for example. Might be nice to have some settings but this is great anyway.

Great bit of kit, used for replacing a decking area and was superb for removing the old screws regardless of how deep or tightly screwed in. Made light work of screwing in the replacement deck boards. So much torque it will remove anything, and so much better that using its cordless drill counterpart I had bought previously. If you need to do a lot of fixing, like a new deck or a fitted kitchen, this really is the is the tool to have with you. Battery also seems to last longer in the impact driver than on the drill

    Really good impact drive
    Really good impact driver…

As i own other makita products i bought this to compliment my collection and have not put the thing down since it arrived. Its a great bit of kit that i didnt know i needed. The price was great.

Due to the nature of the product it is loud when put under stress

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersCompact and powerful
This is an excellent product. I’ve owned a Makita combi drill and having a separate impact driver has been a blessing. It feels robust, works solidly (even after a 2m high drop), comfortable to use and very powerful. The bit changing is secure and the light powerful. I toyed with getting the brushless and/or programmable version, but this brushed version, even as an entry level for a Makita product, is perfect for building projects. So no regrets about choosing this one. I’ve even grown used to the colour, despite having had the black and white Makita drill. [In case it makes the difference, I’ve been using a 4.0Ah battery and mainly using Turbo Gold XT screws into pilot holes for soft woods, e.g. spruce)

    Spectacular !!
I have many Makita cordless tools , this drill / driver is nothing less than spectacular !!. You will not believe the the torque on tap , do not hold the chuck and press the trigger you will lose skin !!
Excellent power to weight and conveniently small. Would be of use to mechanics , kitchen fitters. etc.
All for around 50.00 …. ( Bare ). Used with LXT 3.0 A/ H. The whole LXT range performs well and exceeds expectations.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersGreat impact driver - strange packaging and delivery despite being bought from Amazon (not Marketplace)
PROs: I have tested the driver and it works very well so far, powerful and smooth. This is also a great price, although you need to buy a battery and charger (and a case?) separately.

CONs: it arrived loose in a random cardboard box, with instructions in French only. Not a major problem as it’s simple enough to use (and I speak French), but a bit strange – and not made clear by Amazon up front.

I rarely review things on Amazon but I am so impressed with the DTD152Z I have to share. I tried the 10.8V Makita impact driver at another store and it didn’t have the torque I wanted. This thing scares me when driving in screws it’s so powerful. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

You know what you’re getting with Makita, super high quality, yet very affordable.

There is no exception with this impact driver, it’s EPIC!

Quad brushed dc motor (okay it’s not brushless but it is more robust with less complex switching electronics than a brushless equivalent meaning theres a good chance it’ll last longer) , rugged nylon impregnated with 30% glass fibre plastic, more than enough torque and a led bright enough which also points where it should!

If you’re in the market for one of these, this is a very safe option and I would suspect you would be hard pressed to find equivalent performance/reliability for the same price.

Don’t forget the 3 year Makita warrantee if you register the serial number on their website too!

If you found this at all helpful, please let me know by hitting ‘Yes’ below.

    Cheers.

    Great tool for the price.
Didn’t come in a Makita box but did register with Makita for the 3 year warranty so I guess it came from a split twin pack or kit.

Little bit lacking for site use, you’d want a beefier backup, but generally gets me by.

Best thing i have every bought. Period.

This has some serious power so watch out when tightening bolts with last Impact juices – we’ll make steel bend. Seriously.

    5/5.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersHas advantages over a drill as a screwdrive
Always wondered if these impact drivers were better than using a drill with the screwdriver bits. Read a few reviews and it seems that this driver impacts in the rotational direction to assist the tightening and untightening of screws/bolts.
Used extensively as soon as received to help with assembly of a large shed and the unit worked extremely well. It’s also a bit lighter than the 18V drills and slightly shorter in the body making it easier to hold and use; wouldn’t be without it now.
