Pity does not come with a thermal jug as the timer is not long enough. Produces a full jug of coffee in about twenty minutes. Flavour fairly good.

The only thing I found that was a slight faulty was the level markings were in the wrong colour,Black would have worked a lot better…

Great coffee maker. Love love love the timer function. Coffee ready for me every morning when I fall down the stairs .
Only thing is the jug is not meant to go into the dishwasher but I put it anyway and had no issues so far. Mother in law has done the same now for over 1.5yrs and also no issues..

Machine itself works, timer function great but all the symbols on the buttons have rubbed off within 2 weeks of having it so we have no idea what each button does. Other parts feel flimsy particularly the lid.

It can make good coffee. The machine is designed to be left switched on so that the timer stays on, but we don’t do this. Therefore everytime it’s switched on the timer wants to be set before you can brew the coffee! For us there are too many settings it’s unnecessarily complicated and we just need to switch on and brew the coffee, but you have to run through the various settings before it will start brewing. I prefer the basket style filters that this machine uses. In future I will buy a more basic filter machine.

The coffee machine is in use several times a day. The flavour is exceptionally good and very consistent The reheat facility is the best we have come across. Separating the filter papers can be a little tricky! Excellent for the price, delivery on time.

Makes good coffee like its predecessor, but I don’t like the internal water gauge (black in a black interior) which you can hardly see so you need to use the jug – the old one had a proper water gauge on the side. Also the buttons are starting to wear after a couple of months use which is disappointing.

This is such a good coffee maker and I read most of the reviews and some for others. The strength of coffee making is a delight and it is so easy to use (if pouring the water into it is a problem use a funnel). Overall I wouldn’t be without it. Been in use for several months now. Also I only use the coffee bought in cheaper outlets eg home and bargains, aldi

This is the first filter coffee maker I’ve had that uses basket shaped filters and the result is smooth and clear. The strength adjustment works very well – you can tell the difference in flavour. The machine is easy to clean and seems sturdy enough. It is also very good value for money.

Bought for my fussy daughter – it had to be red! But she also likes good coffee with minimum fuss; she especially loves the timer feature which means her morning coffee is ready to into her portable cup as she heads off to work. Busy girl. For the techy or coffee-snob minded (err, just like Dad) this item has good reviews for the temperature control which I am told is really important for a good coffee brew.

Bought this to blend in with the other Morphy Richards products we have in red and as I prefer filter coffee to instant. This was well made and makes a nice cup of coffee. As with most it takes some getting used to with amounts of coffee and strength rating, it has 3 intensity ratings and squirts water onto the coffee first to let the flavour develop which I think is a great touch as I like a strong cup. Makes up to 12 cups in coffee cup size or 6 mugs worth. My first one broke just outside of the warranty with it just dying one day, Amazon were great sending out a new one without question and let me do wherever with the old one so could have tried to get it fixed but it ended up in the electronics box at the recycling centre as I didn’t need it and the new one worked perfectly.

Very easy to use and I like the reusable filter and timer. When first brewed the coffee isn’t that hot however the keep warm feature heats it up quickly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a nice, compact, and reasonable looking machine. The reusable filter seems to be its real weakness. It takes a lot of ground coffee to get a decent strength of coffee. There seem to be complaints about this with every coffee maker that has a reusable filter. Luckily, there are paper filters like “400 x 2 Pint / 8 to 12 Cup Basket Coffee Filter Papers by EDESIA ESPRESS” on Amazon, that are a snug fit in this machine. With those, the machine works very well.

We’ve only had the machine a couple of weeks, so I have no idea how well it might last. I would have given the machine 5 stars as my initial impression if the leaflet had simply said that the reusable filter is really just a last resort when you’ve run out of paper filters, and suggested a source of suitable paper filters.

Very pleased with this product, though I would prefer it if the machine did not have a limit on how long it kept the coffee warm – but that is the current design and it does exactly what it says. This produces a very nice cup of coffee. I personally don’t use the timer function – there is nothing wrong with it but I don’t value this facility.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis was purchased to replace a 2015 Morphy Richards Accents machine, which gave up the ghost when we recently had house guests.

First impressions – I like the overall shape and design of the machine. It’s neat and tidy, fits into the designated area much better than the machine it replaced. I like the way the carafe fits in its space.
The machine lid design is much better as it is tight fitting and there is less steam escape. Also, filling is easier since the spout arm swings up when the lid is raised.
One word of caution – because of the shiny, pseudo chrome finish on the handle of the carafe, make sure it and your hand is dry when handling, otherwise it will be very slippery.

Performance – Before using it for the first time, all removable parts were hand washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed. The machine had a pot of vinegar and water run through, then three pots of cold water. There was no plastic smell or taste in the first pot of coffee.
This machine brews a fast pot of hot coffee. Hot being the key word.
I’ve not tried the timer, and more than likely won’t, since my wake-up times are variable and there are dogs to be seen to before settling down with the first cup. It quietly brews whilst I am going about my chores.
There is a 25 minute timer for the hot plate, and once the brewing cycle ends the timer kicks in and is shown in the display. I really don’t worry about this as it has long been my practice to preheat a glass lined thermos carafe with boiling water while the coffee brews; and as soon as it finishes decant it into the thermos. The coffee stays hot for many hours, the oxygen doesn’t get to it to turn it bitter, and most importantly, the coffee doesn’t ‘cook’. NB: It should be GLASS lined. Stainless will work, but NOT keep the coffee as hot as a glass lined one does.

Niggles – There is too much ‘sludge’, fine sediment from the filter, (but NO actual grounds) in the bottom of the carafe after brewing. We have an old 4 cup Melita with paper filters which the coffee can be drunk to the last drop in the pot. I will be purchasing paper filters to try in this machine. (UPDATE – Purchased filters and the brewed coffee is clear to the last drop! Perfect!)
The digital clock is not continually back lit, only when pushing buttons, so it can’t be casually used as a clock. Hard to get used to!
Notionally a 1.8 L or 12 cup….more like 11 cups once brewed. Can not compensate by adding a little additional water to the reservoir as is full to the top with the 1.8 measure mark.
Having trouble getting the same strength of coffee from it as from the old machine – without adding more beans. We are up to the third setting, using the same measure used with all the filter coffee makers we’ve had, and the coffee just has not reached the strength we are used to. (UPDATE – Either we got used to the taste, or the perfect strength for us settled in at the 3 bean marker.)
I can see over time the symbols on the buttons might become worn off, but if you use them that often you should have a memory of what they were for! Like computer keys. 😉
UPDATE – My husband’s niggle with the machine is there are no water indications on it at all. Unless filling the reservoir to the top, the coffee carafe with its measures must be used as there is no way to tell how much has gone in. So, his practice of using the water filter jug directly to the machine is void. Doesn’t niggle me.

Overall, I very much like this machine. It met the criteria – enough coffee from one pot to meet our requirements (almost – we do argue who gets the last cup sometimes), makes a hot cup of coffee, brews it quickly. It does not take up a lot of room, and blends in well.
I took off one star for the useless clock display and the brew strength issue. If that rights itself, I may upgrade the rating.
But, yes, even with these niggles, I would recommend this machine. Now, here’s hoping it works longer than a year and a day!
A month on, and I’ve no reason to change my first impressions. I still would highly recommend this machine.

This is a great machine it’s body is plastic but decent quality and the finish is very good. The coffee is not too warm when it’s made so no burnt coffee and the warming plate beats it up a treat although it stated 45 mins but mines is 25 mins instructions aren’t the best but it’s very easy to work and very quick to fill and dispense. Overall I am very happy with this machine

Even better than previous version. We replaced our 7 year old Morphy Richards (after smashing jug accidentally). After researching all other coffee makers, we decided to replace our old one, which served us well, with the upgraded version – we’re not disappointed!! Slightly sleeker look, easier cleaning, and a large amount of great filter coffee kept warm for those lazy weekend mornings. Just perfect. Pay less for more.

Love this coffee maker – super easy to use. The timer is a lifesaver for early starts, coffee is all ready to go when you get up. Only downside is having to guess how much coffee to put in per cup. One spoonful per cup definitely isn’t enough, but once you figure that out, it’s perfect.

I’ve had this for about a month and I’m perfectly happy with it so far. Easy to use, good temperature coffee. It uses slightly less coffee grounds than I used to brew with a cafetiere but once you figure out the right quantities, the coffee is nice.

I bought it for the timer feature, which is great and does exactly what I want it to.

I’ve had a trusty old Morphy Richards Model 47041, which has been serving me very well at the office since 2007 – and still going. Only reason I got a new one was because the glass carafe was broken a couple of times (each time by a careless colleague, not me, I promise) and the last time it was a bit difficult to get a replacement – the model is now obsolete you see. So when I decided to get a new coffee machine, there was really no contest.

This new Model 162009 has a sleek design and more functionality, the pot holds more coffee (so it can be shared with a few more colleagues) plus the new filter design is supposed to make better coffee, or so I heard. It was tough deciding which one to leave in the office though (old or new) but in the end, I had to retire the old model to my home, where I use it only on weekend mornings, while the new one makes me many a coffee mug all day, all week at the office.

I’ve now been using this product for almost 6 months and its only slight downside is that it automatically turns off the hot plate 20 minutes after brewing, while the old one has to be turned off manually. Each has its pros and cons. But overall, good value for money, good thinking, good product.

It has a basket so you don’t have to use filter papers, which I like, and it’s easy enough to clean.

Over all a great buy. I hope it proves to be long lasting too!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis has been great making lovely coffee every time, however I would recommend to leave the lid open after using (not immediately, leave the machine to cool down so you don’t scald yourself) so that the water can evaporate and not stay within the machine which seems unhygienic.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIts a modern sleek coffee machine. Looks great in the kitchen and takes up less space than my old one. Coffee tastes fine. It lost one star because it doesn’t have a water fill indicator. I fill the coffee machine from my Brita pitcher. Now that it has no water fill line I have to fill/measure with the carafe and then put in the machine. It’s annoys me as all coffee machines I’ve ever had had this. Other than that it’s a good coffee machine.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is a great coffee maker. The shower spray inside seems to make a great difference to the flavour along with th cupcake shaped coffee basket. I also love that i can change the strength with the buttons, this means instead of one scoop of coffee per cup/person you can reduce this by almost half so you can save money and not need to buy coffee so often anymore. It also looks great. There is one downside for me though, the longest the warm plate stays on for is 25 minutes, but i like to make a bigger pot and drink throughout the day when i need it. This is apparently a regulation now in the EU so most others may be the same. Due to the design of the coffee pot being surrounded with the actual unit it does help keep it warmer a little longer. I would recommend this to any coffee lover.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI’m no coffee aficionado but I do enjoy a full, flavoursome coffee. I’d been reasonably satisfied with my Tassimo machine right up until I had a coffee at IKEA. The taste hit me like a ton of bricks and I realised that my Tassimo hadn’t been able to provide me with anything like this. I yearned to make coffee like that at home, so decided it was time to treat myself to a new filter coffee machine.

The last filter coffee machine I bought was over twenty years ago. It was as basic as can be and cost me about a tenner. I set out to buy a cheap and basic replacement. I had not realised that all coffee machines in the <100 bracket were not created equal in terms of the flavour that they produce. This machine consistently beat machines of similar price in reviews in terms of taste, which is why I purchased it. It was a little more than I had set out to spend but the reviews convinced me that it was worth it.

The only tea I buy is Typhoo, as it really is the only one to provide an 'oo', (well.... maybe Yorkshire Tea, but with Typhoo the 'oo' is easier on the budget). Well, think of this coffee machine as the Typhoo of filter coffee machines - maybe there is another out there that produces as good as an 'oo' but you'd have to pay a lot more for it.

The fact that it looks so sleek on the counter top and like it should have cost a lot more, is just a bonus for me. I've not used the timer yet but intend to, so I can look forward to a steaming cup of coffee when I get back from taking the dog for a walk in these zero temperatures!

Yes, it's a bit more labour intensive than the Tassimo but it's so good that we use it at least a couple of times every day, more at weekends and we're tea-drinkers!

I thought I would be buying the fullest roast (- usually #5 on the packet) to get the flavour I wanted but I've been surprised how intense a flavour this machine produces and have switched down from this to medium roasts and it produces a lovely full intense flavour.

Amazon's price was very competitive and the speedy delivery exceded my expectations.

As a filter coffee machine I give it 5 stars. However, after 1 month of using, the clock seems to have a mind of its own. I keep resetting it but it still keeps going wrong. Its annoying but not a huge issue unless you want to use the timer function.

Decent machine, served us well for a year or so – still going.
From what I can tell, the strength adjustment doesn’t do much – though we have it on max anyway.
The machine will stay on for approx. half an hour once the brew is complete. You can turn on the hotplate or reset the timer, for 25 minutes, by pressing the heat button.
After a while water comes out visibly not-so-clean should you run just water through on it’s own, so it may be wise to run some sort of safe cleaning solution through it every now and then.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersSimple and easy to use. Comes with a reusable ‘plastic filter’ (at least, the phrase I’ve been using for starbucks grinding :P) which is easy to wash. Set the coffee brewing whilst you sort out the rest of the breakfast, and come back to a fresh pot a couple of minutes later. The system has a hot plate to keep the coffee warm (you can configure how long the plate stays hot) and you can also customise how slowly you want the water to flow through the grounds (how strong you’d like the resulting coffee to be)

This machine does everything I want it to do. Had it over a year now and didn’t want the faff of a machine that I needed to have pods for, or the expense of buying them. Arrived on time. It was a gift for my partner and he seems to like it. I’ve tried setting it up so that the coffee is ready at a specific time in the morning but it hasn’t worked. Like others have said the coffee doesn’t stay hot for too long because the hot plate goes off after a while

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe had a standard filter machine for years until it just stopped working. Purchased this and the coffee is so delicious, the “strength” setting really works and there’s no ‘bits’ at the bottom of the cup which is a dramatic improvement from our previous experience.

The flex could do with being longer as it doesn’t reach the plug I want it to – not that it’s miles away either, so has to be pretty much in front of the socket. Looks really good, no external water gauge to fur up but can be hard to see where to fill to so use the coffee jug to avoid mistakes.
Is a little noisier than my previous one.

This coffee maker was ordered to replace one which we’d had a long time before it broke. we didn’t want a capsule coffee maker, but a basic filter coffee machine with a permanent filter and this machine fitted the bill exactly. it works perfectly, looks good and doesn’t take up too much room on the work surface. It was a good price, too, and we’re very happy with it.

This machine makes really nice coffee. I would have given it five stars but the lid opens slightly towards the end of the brew emitting steam causing a lot of moisture over the machine (as mentioned in other reviews) I have always made sure the lid is firmly closed.

I contacted Morphy Richards to see if it was safe but they have never had the courtesy to reply.

Great coffee machine. The lid is not removable from the jug so makes cleaning etc., awkward which is why it only gets four stars.

great appliance. only issue is the water gauge when filled which is inside and can’t be scene when water inside as droplets cover the numbers/levels.

This has been brilliant. Have been using for 6 months or so now and had no issues whatsoever. Makes good decently strong coffee fairly quickly.

I know other reviews on several coffee makers have complained about the fact that the warm plates now don’t stay on longer than I think 25min but this is a new EU law so it’s not the fault of the coffee maker. And to be honest it’s not an issue! If I want to keep it warm longer I just press the on button again and the time restarts or it can re heat the coffee.

Love the coffee! It’s got a good keep warm function and works well. Defenitely worth what you pay for it. It has its limitations but easily can overcome once you get used to the machine.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMakes lovely coffee, only criticism is that it is difficult to see how much water you have put in. This is easily overcome by using graduations on jug instead of in machine

Brilliant! I have used this machine everyday for 6 months. Very simple to set up and use. It has no complicated settings. When pre-set, I just press the top left button twice and awake each morning to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The coffee is hot (Approx 85c), which is perfect for me.
I have de-scaled once since purchase using equal parts of water and distilled vinegar. If you are thinking of investing in a coffee machine, this one is a must.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe first coffee maker worked well but the clock did not keep time. I knew that I liked the item enough to exchange it for a perfect timekeeping one. It is very quiet and quick. Looks absolutely smart. My preference is to buy the correct cupcake type filter papers which is less messy. The step measurement inside the machine is not practical. However, a nice measuring jug at the ready solves that. I thank everyone which includes Morphy Richards in arranging for the lovely one I now have.

Very good clear instructions the only very little issue, not the easiest to poor water in to start, but would still recommend it.

An excellent cup of smooth coffee and simple to use machine. Unfortunately, the first one stopped working after 9 brews, but the replacement was fast and has worked well since.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery nice item. Morphy Richards obviously want their products to get to their buyers safely! This was very well packed, and looks strongly built. Nice and easy to use, I’m pleased that I now have a coffee maker where the top doesn’t pop open when in use! The lid on this will stay closed when you’re brewing.

    Goodbye, hassles!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a great looking coffee maker and very easy to use. The only down side is the switch off after 25 mins. Our previous one was after an hour which was great for us. You have to get up close to see how long there is left before it switches off as the display isn’t permanently backlit so is difficult to see. However, we just switch it back on as soon as it goes off and that works but it is a pain.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersNeat coffee maker with simple instructions. Easy to fill with water and brews a good filter coffee.
Downside, it doesn’t retain the heat in standby without remembering to press the ‘keep warm’ button, which lasts 25 min.
On the coffee maker, the lid has twisted slightly after only a few uses, this stops the lid from clipping ‘shut’ without an extra push. Without this being sealed, steam escapes.
The colour is rich and the glass jug is easy to pour.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersConsistently produces good, hot coffee, the carafe does not spill coffee all over the place and it is so easy to fill the water tank. The best coffee- maker I’ve had so far and probably the neatest-looking.

This is by far my favourite Christmas present from Christmas 2016. It’s been used literally everyday since I got it. My only gripe is the water is a bit awkward to fill.

The best thing about this machine and the reason I got it is that it can be programmed to start at any time. Which is great for when you have to wake up at 4/5am like I do. I set the machine up to start brewing when my alarm goes off and by the time I’ve got up and into the kitchen it’s done (takes about 5 minutes to brew on the strongest/slowest setting to do a large Starbucks style mug) highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersI am really pleased with this coffee maker. I drink coffee all day and make one or two pots a day. Coffee machines seem to last me about 18 months to two years so I’ve got through a few in my time. The unit looks more expensive than it is and feels solid. It is shorter than most others with the same capacity possibly because the square shape holds more than a cylinder of the same height. The controls are largely self explanatory and easy to use. The reservoir can be filled from either the left or right side and the opening is large enough that you rarely miss.

It has a “cupcake” shape filter to hold the coffee grounds and includes a reusable filter. Personally I find reusable filters are a pain to clean and the coffee is “grittier”. So I put normal 1/4 paper filter inside the reusable filter which makes cleaning easier and improves the taste. Since these filters are designed for a conical compartment I have to squash them a little to make them fit but it works.

My one minor quibble is that when the unit is not operating the clock is not back lit and is almost impossible to read from any distance so it is little use a clock.

Stylish and compact coffee maker. Makes excellent coffee. The timer which is set for 25mn from when the coffee has been filtered is in my view excellent, firstly, in case you forget to turn the machine off and secondly, the coffee is not left to brew for long to give it an unpleasant taste. I would recommend this machine to any coffee lovers.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this to replace an old coffee maker that wasn’t performing as well as it used to, and I was really surprised at how good this one is.
Easy to set up and use, although the filling guide for the water is a little difficult to see.
The coffee has a lovely smooth flavour with no bitterness
Coffee is a lot hotter than my old machine, even with cold milk added
A great buy for the price

Very pleased with the coffee machine – it looks very good and makes coffee with a good flavour. I find the measuring steps inside very difficult to manage and can’t understand why this was done. I use the jug to measure the water every time which is ok. In all I am very happy indeed with the coffee maker.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had been using a Russell Hobbs Filter Coffee Maker for years and was very happy with it. So it was sad day when it finally packed in. I tried ordering the newest version of the same coffee machine from RH, and it just wasn’t the same. Coffee was cold once it was brewed, the warming plate switched off too soon and it cut out repeatedly while brewing. It went back and I decided to switch brands, and so I ordered this one, the Morphy Richards 162010. I have been using this for a few weeks now and have been pleased with the performance. The black and chrome look great. The image on Amazon makes it a little cheap-looking but it look much much better in person, so don’t be put off by the images. Function-wise, the machine is great. You can choose your own strength (although I do always keep it on maximum), the coffee is nice and hot when brewed and the warming plate keeps it at a nice temperature. If I were to highlight one disappointment though, it would be that the warming plate switches off after just 20 minutes, where-as the coffee maker that I used for years stayed on for an hour. You can switch it back on of course but it would be better if it stayed on. You can’t seem to get one that stays on longer any more though so this brand/model is not alone in that failing. The buttons are large and easy to operate, you really don’t need to bother with the instructions, they’re that simple. The timer function is handy, letting you set to brew the coffee at a set time. There is nothing quite waking up to that smell.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersAbsolutely love it. I was a little bit worried that it would be a bit complicated to set up (I get lost easily in such things) but it’s not. It’s soooo easy! You really don’t even need the manual, it’s just self explanatory. The coffee comes out very nice, you just need to find your favorite brand to go with it. The timer works really well, and it’s brill to wake up to a fresh, warm cup of coffee every morning. It’s fantastic in smaller kitchens as it really doesn’t take up much space on the counter. For me worth every penny. Very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAfter getting fed up with a really lack luster coffee from a new machine bought 4 weeks ago I really wanted a good machine with time.

This is great: no plastic smell, compact, nice coffee, easy to use, counter to let you know how long the coffee has been on.

Love it! Wish red had been on prime at time of order though, black is a bit blocky

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis does exactly what i want, makes a good batch of coffee!

The timer function is also incredibly useful so that you have a nice coffee waiting for you on those early mornings.

Like others said, the 25 min keep warm time is the max and it would have been nice if this could be extended or started again.

Other than this though i highly recommend this. It’s a good machine for the price and looks nice as well. easy to use and setup.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersGreat product which does exactly what it is supposed to. A little bit of advice:

    1. For mugs (as opposed to cups) use two scoops of ground coffee. You’ll notice that the cup sizes inside are equal to half a mug.

    2. Leave it for about 3 mins after brewing has finished. I noticed that there was still quite a bit of coffee to seep through if you immmediately removed the jug at the end of brewing.

Great filter coffee machine that makes really good coffee, although be careful in your choice of coffee as I found out when I first used it. Not all coffees make a good filter cup (I’m probably stating the obvious here). At the present time I’m using Sainsbury’s decafe and it tastes really good, but I’m sure other coffees will taste just as good, it’s just that I haven’t got around to them yet!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe machine arrived without any instruction booklet and no shipping form. I had to call Morphy Richards to get a booklet sent separately. The coffee it makes is fine and it’s quite a nice looking piece of equipment, but I wish I’d ordered a design that front loads instead of top loads so that it could be filled up and left sitting under my kitchen cupboards.

Its a shame that the warm up function doesn’t make it fully hot because I often make too much coffee and then it gets wasted once it goes cold. Otherwise it is quite a good product. Simple to use and to clean.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSmart looking unit, makes a fantastic pot of coffee and keeps it nice and hot for 25 minutes. Easy to use, and the programmable timer for making your coffee for when you wake up is a lovely touch. I will note that I placed it pretty badly under a cupboard unit so I have to pull it out every time I want to fill it but that’s not a fault of the machine itself just my lack of kitchen space – as a result it can be hard to work out how much water is inside as the ‘ladder’ measure isn’t easily viewed but I just measure it out in a jug first. Overall an excellent purchase nonetheless!
