For some reason they do not fit the flush light fitting as well as our previous lamps. But as a product these are as described and work well.

They dim well with an MK K4511 grid dimmer right down to the lowest level this dimmer offers (which admittedly isn’t very low.)

Bought recently and can’t guarantee on the longevity or energy efficiency but definitely on brightness and value for money: they would generally cost double the price !!

We had cool lights in our bathroom before and I didn’t like them that much, they were too white and cold. We changed them with these and they are really soft and totally changed the mood. I like them but they are not as bright as the cool whites. Good value.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWell I’m blown away by these bulbs! Seems a bit silly really, but our kitchen has always been a bit dark. It’s below ground level and there are 6 spot lights in the ceiling.
The old bulbs were Diall brand from B&Q, these Phillips ones blow them out of the water!
The wattage is the same and the lumens are only 10 more, and the light is still a comfortable warm colour.
Yet somehow the light is spread out so much more, these easily light the room twice as well as the old ones!
Surprising how a small thing can make you happy, but these were a great buy 🙂

Great bulb, great at low level and at full power, exactly the same as halogens that are in the other light fittings. Have taken out some other LED bulbs as well that aren’t as good, these are so good.

Replaced 13 ceiling dimmable halogens with these, a notable saving in power usage. You will need to replace the switches as well. Worth the effort.

No problems, to date, with these bulbs which have already lasted longer than some other LED bulbs in the same outdoor lamps. Very pleased with them, with their brightness, and the shade of the light.

I bought these as our existing LEDs were old and needed replacing. I bought a good brand, and was not disappointed. They are very bright and a lower wattage than our previous bulbs. The light spread is also good.
Just a word of warning, these are warm white, which is a very warm white – almost too warm, However, the comparison to what we had before in our kitchen is amazing. We can now see to read the paper!

Great bulbs. Bright and warm colour. So much better than the halogen equivalents. They use less electricity, saving me money, and they don’t break every time someone in the flat above walks through their kitchen – again – saving me money.

The people who have given this a bad review have simply demonstrated their poor grasp of lighting. Philips haven’t made a claim about the lifetime of the product (15,000 hours is NOT written on the box, and would be meaningless anyway without saying what they are testing them to – they are a good manufacturer, they’ll last OK unless you have bad wiring). You can basically buy a known brand (GE, Sylvania, Osram, Philips and probably supermarket own brand) and get something reliable, or you can buy a cheap import and roll the dice on quality. I liked these, the colour temperature was as stated, and they had good colour rendering – the light felt comfortable. They also weren’t hideously bright to stare at, and the surface had a nice sparkle to it like the old ones. Do note that this type of lamp does have a beam angle, so check it if it’s important to you.

…. Purchased these for a neighbour who had ‘lost’ a few bulbs in the kitchen (spotlight style arrays) making it a bit darker than ideal for putting together G&Ts, something had to be done! So ordered these had them delivered; they fitted well into standard GU10 bulb housings and as you would expect from Philips were of a standard high quality, after fitting everything is now supremely bright!! It lights up the street every time the kitchen light goes on, which is handy for me so I know when to pop over for gin!

I used these bulbs in my kitchen to replace standard halogen GU10s and they are much better bulb.

They are around twice as bright as a halogen and the colour is a nice warm shade not a overbearing clinical white that you get from some of the cheaper LEDs on the market.

    Buy with confidence

Not a bad price for the 6 bulbs but prices a coming down all the time. They are ok bulbs but with a few issues which are enough to make me change them when i can. These bulbs a little longer than normal GU10 bulbs, so stick out of my spotlights where they are supposed to be flush. The main problem for me is the light beam pattern has no width so they are spot lights. the previous bulbs (minisun) had a wide beam of light so that there were no dark spots with the 4 spot ceiling light fitting I have.

I wanted to change the 11 spot light bulbs in my kitchen, but I am not a fan of the LED day light bulbs. These are great, warm white as detailed and they give a lovely warm effect. There work well on a dimmer switch, brighter than my original GU10 (50W) bulbs when on full, but still a really nice warmth to them. Would highly recommend these bulbs, just hope they last as long as they say.

  38. DarylAdame says:

  39. WernerWSDmwn says:

Wow! Amazing light output, I had a couple of my old LAP (Screwfix) bulbs go so thought I would spend a bit more on some new ones (these aren’t even 2 each in a pack of 6) and I am so glad I did, the en-suite is now a different place! These are so much better light in terms of closer to an original halogen bulb (warm white 50w)
Only downside is now I want to change all my house downlights to Philips bulbs!
Can’t comment on longevity as they have been in 5 mins, but even the LAP Led bulbs these have replaced were 7 years old, so am hoping for a similar lifespan.

  41. WillardCordeaux says:

First up 2 out of 6 bulbs were damaged on delivery but refund on those was easy so didn’t lose out there.
Previously I’d thought wide angle lights were good to get better coverage across the room but what that also means is they’re more blinding and you have to keep your gaze away from the lights. These bulbs are not wide angle so glare is much less of a problem.
The ‘cool white’ really suits a kitchen. It is bright and lively without being stark. I’ve tried several different colours previously from different brands and in a clean environment like a kitchen it’s nice not to be yellowy but also not sterile with too harsh a light. For me this is a happy middle ground that really does make the room feel comfortably airy.
Also, no flicker to that some lights might have.
Not sure how long these will last but aside from the originally damaged bulbs, none have gone yet, touch wood.
Overall, will but again, hopefully not too soon.

I’ve been using these bulbs for two months and so far they are great; they give out good light and I prefer them to the normal GU12 bulbs. I shall buy more when they need replacing but it won’t be for a long while yet as LED bulbs go on for ages..

  43. Henry Miller says:

Traditional halogen lamps become very yellow when dimmed, which is an attractive feature in a living room. These lamps simulate this very effectively and are a further clever development of LED lighting which can sometimes seem harsh. Excellent.

The thing with light bulbs is they are great until they fail. I bought these about 2 months ago which as the days are getting lighter means little use. I have them fitted in a kitchen to replace halogen bulbs, each being 40 watts previously times 4. (i.e. 160watts). The replacements at 4.6w, well, its a no brainer. If they last a year to 18 months then I have made the electric savings to pay for replacements. Saying that the box says 15,000 hours or 15 years.

They are fitted in the kitchen which probably has about 2 hours average a day which works out around 20 years. I think you can see where this is going. The potential savings are huge. Take the hit and buy them!

    UPDATE
6 months later, all still good

  46. AlejandraBeatty says:

So my room was getting too hot, I discovered I was using 6 x 50watt halogen bulbs (300 watt total!) that operated around 160-180 degrees Celsius. For a long time i’d put the temperature down to my gaming PC, monitors and the length of time I was in the room. Switching to these 4 watt bulbs (24 watt total) has really cut the electricity down and since then I’ve replaced the entire house where I can with them. They were 50 lumens brighter but significantly more expensive.

It’s hard to judge their logevity since there’s lots of factors as to why a bulb may blow and in many cases it’s due to the houses power output, faulty wiring, the light fitting and many more things. So far 1 has blown out of a total of 30 bought but I would say that’s a decent outcome. The one that stopped working stopped the moment I turned on the lights after swapping the bulb, it tripped the fuse. Replacing it with a different one worked but I have no way of gauging whether or not it’s the bulb at fault.

Overall these are more expensive but operate much cooler than halogen and are far more Eco-friendly and reduce your overall electricity output.

The “warm glow” part of the name is certainly correct. Even though these are LED they give a lovely warm tinge akin to a traditional incandescent bulb… and they can be dimmed, which adds even more to the ease of creating just the right atmosphere.

I bought these lamps to replace what were your typical incandescent bulbs for a fixture recently purchased. My house as a whole is filled with LED bulbs (all Philps, some smart, others less so) and it was actually a fair surprise when I could feel the actual heat coming off the bulbs supplied with the fixture. It’s been a while and it makes you realise quite how wasteful older bulbs can be!

As a result I went ahead and purchased these. They clicked in as you’d expect of the usual spotlight style bulbs and I was actually fairly surprised at quite how soft and diffused the bulbs actually were. It almost made the room feel like a showroom to a degree (which depending on your tastes, is great or terrible).

At 4.6w a bulb it’s a no-brainer energy consumption-wise and as I’ve been fortunate over the past few years to not yet have a single LED bulb go on me yet!

The dimming of these is incredible -from a full bright glow to a dim cosy colour. Will buy Philips only when possible now as these are juts vastly superior to any LED I have come across. Transformer makes no sound when dimmed or otherwise.

Look just like conventional GU10s. Fitted no problem in 3 different types of lamp holder. The warm white is almost indistinguishable from the old halogens, if anything slightly brighter which is no bad thing. All this is 24 hours after fitting so of course durability remains to be seen. I’m buying some spares just in case.

Having spoken to numerous electricians it is clear that Philips LED light products seem to last. Time will tell how long. We just had a series of light fittings put in the kitchen and all of the LED lights went after 4 months. It was like pulling teeth to get the electrician back and so we had to replace all of them at our cost. The electrician actually said that Phillips was one of the best and that the wholesale supplier was always trying to get him to try a new make but they always came up short. So it is especially irritating to notice that he was driven by a cost issue and put in cheap short life LED builds. When getting a quote always specify a brand of LED bulb that you are happy to pay for. It is cheaper in the long run.

  57. Anonymous says:

The big issue with LED bulbs is the dim-ability. Many say they are dimmable but for most the lowest dimmed point is about 80% of full brightness – not much good. These bulbs dim to a reasonable 40% or so, which is the best I’ve found.

  58. Josh Brown says:

Great colour it looks almost more authentic than the actual incandescent bulbs I replaced. I bought both dimmable and non dimmable versions of these and the dimmer ones were perfect at dimming and the dimmer switch is now also totally quiet.

A few of the spotlights in the house where mains voltage GU10 rather than the lower voltage 12V MR16 / GU5.3
Bought these due to philips branding and quite happy with them.
Light is good and almost same colour (yellowish) as the halogens they replace.
The beams are not as wide as other bulbs (which claim 120degrees or more) but these are high up in the ceiling and hence dont cause too much shadows. For lower ceilings I would think other bulbs with a wider beam may help.
These have been in for just a week (bought a back of 6) and so far none have blown and fingers crossed they last!
A bit expensive than what I would have liked but we can now leave these on the landing on all the time for safety rather than worry about the hefty bill with the 50W one’s. Recommended…

I got a six pack of these bulbs and decided to replace the whole room even though only one halogen had gone. I’ve had many LED’s over the years but never really been that impressed and the lifespan had been poor at times. Well these are a game changer, at just over 2 a bulb they offer whole new level of light, I wouldn’t have classed our room as dingy before but it looks totally different now, the light is really crisp and clean as well, very, very impressed.

I did buy the 10 pack a day later and didn’t get exactly the same bulb, the results were good but not as good as the 6 pack.

I can’t fault the price or durability, they have been up in the kitchen for over 3 months with no issues. However, these are very yellow. Would be ok in a living room or hallway but too yellow for a kitchen. I wish I had known this before hand as I wasn’t sure which one to get. But if you are buying for a kitchen or somewhere where you work, buy the white ones, not these yellowish ones.

Been looking for dimmable lamps that don’t cost silly money. These are great, same colour as usual halogens, they are dimmable although when I changed all 12 they did stutter at low level, probably because the load on the dimmer was too small, I put 2 normal

I’ve tried lots of different makes and models of GU10 LED over the years… but these are by far the best halogen-equivalent dimmable LED that I’ve ever used. Used with a decent dimmer switch, these will smoothly (and silently) dim from a bright 2700k… to an even warmer dim 2200k to absolutely zero… just as you would expect a 50w halogen would. After having tried some GU10 LED’s that flicker, have a very limited dimming range, buzz or are just too ‘laboratory room’ stark in their output… these by comparison, are an absolute revelation.

May be worth noting that I used these with a Varilight V-Pro [programmable trailing edge] dimmer… but to get the very best out of them, I would highly recommend adding the Varilight Glowfix module to each room that you use these bulbs in.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFed up with the yellowish light coming from a set of 5 Philips 2700k LED’s I fitted a while ago in my white kitchen I ordered a set of 5 of these new type glass ones from Amazon. I’m not sure if the old ones were becoming more yellow with time (but they seemed to be in my opinion) and they also seemed to be losing their lighting brightness.

They were easy to fit, exactly the right size for my recessed GU10 lampholders in the ceiling and these new ones are made from glass, not like the plastic ones I removed so that was pleasing for safety if there ever was a fault. They are a great deal brighter than the LED’s they replaced, and a perfect white light (4000k) as opposed to the yellowish ones they replaced (2700k). My kitchen has never been lit so well and it seems to be a more natural light and food and fruit looks much better than before. The kitchen looks like new now and much more modern than with the yellowish glow. Very well pleased with this colour, it just feels like daylight on a good sunny day.

I’ll be changing some other lamps in the house to 4000k now as it also seems to help me see much better as I age (my eyes arent as great as they used to be)!

Very bright – as equivalent wattage to the old tech bulbs these replaced they are much brighter.

They don’t have a smooth surface (it’s raised) so the rubber suction cup used to grip them to get them in and out of light fittings doesn’t work very well, so these are much more difficult to fit and may prove impossible to remove if/when they eventually fail. Hence the 4 not 5 stars.

I do agree with Movie aficionado’s comments about the bulb shape being fatter than the norm.

If your GU10 bulb fitting socket has a chamfer like my bathroom lights – then you will be 50/50 be able to successfully fit these. I was close to returning them after spending some 20mins trying to fit them to my bathroom ceiling fixture but with a bit more pressure they did fit in.

The light output in comparison to my dated Halogens is worlds apart – very bright yet warm. So bright that I’ve often contemplated removing one of the three bulbs from the fixture just to dim things down a tad! Hopefully these last longer than the halogens. Time will tell.

Exact replacements for 50w halogen GU10’s. Same brightness and the colour temperature is almost identical. I’ve had these in for 6 months now without any issues so will be purchasing more to replace all halogens with them as they consume less than a tenth of the power of a 50w.

The Philps bulbs are a very pleasant colour, not bright white but a slightly muted white, almost yellow colour that you would get from an older Halogen light. It makes the kitchen feel a lot more cosy.

I had to get some new GU10s as one of my kitchen spotlights had failed. I got a pack of six and just replaced all of them in there. I was using 50W GU10s – these are only 4.6W LEDs and they produce the same amount of light.

Very happy with the lamps. They are a a good match for the ones that were replaced. With the fittings I have one can see the lamp so it was important that they looked similar.
I would have bought a second lot but the price went up by 21% !!! Might still get some, or wait and see if the price falls again.

Great led bulbs, fitted in my living room ceiling inset/flush fittings. They fit nice and flush in the fitting not sticking out a bit like some, they are also look frosted which means no ugly led bits showing. Unobtrusive just as they should be

I bought these frosted-glass diffuser LED lights as a replacement for 2.5W clear glass ones that came with the original light fitting as supplied by another company (even though these 5.5W ones were recommended as replacement lights(!??). I’m delighted with these lights as not only have they twice the output power, they fill the with with a much softer light.

Greatly LED bulbs once again by Philips.
Wife beam and perfect 2700k “warm white” colour.
Instant on and being Philips they’ll not discolour.

My only gripe is that the bulb is made of glass and not plastic, I’m sure there’s a reason but as a consequence they’ll smash if you accidentally drop them.

Well worth forking out a bit more for good quality LED lights. The yellow light was exactly what I was looking for as I really don’t like the harsh white light from other LED bulbs. The quality of the bulb is reflected with things like there being no delay when switched on and no flickering at all. Really pleased and would highly recommend.

The best ones that I’ve ever bought. Exactly the same size as the halogen gu10 lamps, but only 5.5 Watts. These ones are the dimming type that need a dimmer switch designed for led lamps. Get the correct dimmer switch for these and they will dim without any flickering effect. Warm white colour.

So far to good! Just replaced a spotlight that had gone out with this one and it works like a charm. Sharp yet warm light filled the room right away and it does cover a lot of area! I can’t attest to its longevity but so far so good!

Have been replacing my original Osram lights which have been giving me lot of difficulties with flashing , early failure and even power trips. These have been giving me no trouble at all. So far so good.

We have lots of spotlights in the ceilings and light fixtures around our home and I have been gradually replacing them all with Philips LED bulbs. These were for our hallway and give off a really bright and warm light, easily equivalent to the ordinary GU10 bulbs they have replaced.

These bulbs are the closest we have found to incandescent light. Rated at 2700 Kelvin they produce a warm slightly yellow light that keeps rooms looking warm and cosy. My wife is photosensitive and struggles with lighting, so far these have a good compromise between her condition and the cost of running/bulb life. She does however dispute the instantaneous switch on claim – she can detect a flicker that she doesn’t get with traditional incandescent bulbs.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersAttached photo shows these lights, the Philips LED warm white 2700K on the left, and Philips LED cool white 4000K on right.

The walls in my flat are predominantly painted white and found the warm white simply too yellow for places such as the kitchen and bathroom, making it a little difficult on the eye. I still decided to use these however for the living room.

They are bright, just more yellow than I had thought (even more so than my previous halogens), but my fault there for not researching.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersSo I bought a competitor’s GU10 bulbs Lampaous 10x 5W GU10 LED bulb Day White day light LED GU10 Spot lights 450lm natural white pure white LED light bulb 50W halogen replacement and chose the “daylight” coloured ones based on reviews that its “warm” coloured ones gave out a sickening yellow haze. I was impressed with the power output but was a little upset that the bulbs were not directional enough. The colour was very similar to daylight and after installing three of these in my bathroom, it became clear these were not for me. Whilst they were far far brighter than the old incandescent, they had a uniform output which lit up every recess and made the bathroom look clinical. The warm cosy feel was gone. So I turned to these Philips bulbs, and I am blown away. They are not quite as cheap, but this is the real deal, the closest thing you can get to a real incandescent halogen. Unlike the competitor’s 120 degree beam, these are true to GU10 spotlights, with a narrower 36 degree beam (see photos attached). The original daylight ones I bought may well suit a kitchen with colourful tiles, but I would definitely avoid them in places you would not want to look clinical. Also I took a slow motion video with my phone (see attachments) and the competitor’s suffers from flickering (hardly noticeable to the eye) whilst the Philips is rock solid. Definitely recommend! In the video: Philips (left) incandescent (centre) competitor (right).

    The real thing!

Excellent quality LED, look great and the light tone and quality is as good as the halogen bulbs being replaced. These fit my kitchen and utility light fittings where other LED’s I’ve tried wouldn’t fit as they have exactly the same profile as halogen GU10’s. I’ve just bought some more to complete the job of replacing all the bulbs. They seem as bright as the 50W halogens being replaced only with a 90% saving in energy!

Purchased in Jan 2017 – Some Halogen lamps had gone in our Kitchen and was looking to upgrade to something with a bit less heat and a bit more modern looking – These are perfect. They appear brighter than the old halogen ones (which are also Phillips) and are a warm coloured LED light that you would fool for being a regular halogen.

Have bought another set to replace some in another room.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI have just installed these to replace eight halogens in my kitchen and six in my converted garage. I tried one at first along side the good quality halogens that give a lovely warm light and there was no difference, even the wife said there was no difference. So I swapped them all over and am very pleased with the quality of light- very bright and warm. I’ve had led spots in the past and vowed that i would never use them again because of the awful light given off – they made our kitchen look green and people in the room look very unwell.

These spots are perfect , they are cheap to run, give off excellent light, look like halogens and cost only 3.33 each delivered.
