    Bright bulbs that work well
Difficult to rate these bulbs on their efficiency and longevity as only had them installed for a few days now.

Instantly noticeable difference in colour and light though over the halogen bulbs they replaced.

Well packaged too so no broken bulbs in the post!

    15,000 hours? Really!
Never change your light bulb – lasts up to 15000 hours?
I bought 6 of these in June 2018. One has failed in June 2020. That would be about 15,000 hours – if they had been on. But only in use in a kitchen for a few hours a day.
However, having taken it apart I found that the circuit board does include a fuse in series with the live terminal. So I am now happier! In the past LED lamps I used have failed to a solid short circuit which is a bad thing. These will be much safer. Hence 4 stars.

Nice and bright, but they sing, and considering I am partially deaf, I was surprised I could hear them.

Great lights, low flicker, good for the eyes.
Purchase to replace expensive leds that had problems switching off when the switch was off. Also thess are great for the eyes, very low flicker levels. Below %2, much better than the other ones which were around %60.

I gave *3 to longevity and efficiency as I can’t rate these. Not enough time or way to measure consumption.

    Cool White, Very Brigh
I’ve replaced all the GU10 bulbs in my home with Phillip’s LED and have had no issues. They are energy efficient and stay cool. Choose your colour carefully. I have Cool White in the kitchen and Warm White elsewhere in the home. Personally I would find the Cool White too harsh and clinical in a living room for example.

For a couple of years, I’d been buying a cheaper version of these bulbs, and had to replace them every week or two.

I finally wised up and bought these. They’ve been on continuously for 31 weeks (24hrs, 7 days a week), without one replacement, 1m above our gas cooker.

You really do get what you pay for.

These lights are not that bright so are more suitable for areas that require a warm, subdued light.

    Superb dimming
    Absolutely love these.
They do genuinely dim to a warmer white by fading out the outer 3 leds and fading over to a single extra warm led in the centre of the bulb. Really fine dimming down to a very low light with no flicker. Definately getting more of these

    Philips 4.6Watt cool-white GU10 LED lamps
I purchased another two boxes of 6 of these excellent GU10 LED lamps. EXCELLENT amount and quality of light. For a bulb that uses under 5 Watts of power the light output is extraordinary. The cool WHITE is not a cold bluish tint you get with some LED lamps. 4000 Kelvin is a very pleasing white – not too yellowish and not to cold and bluish either. With a very even 30 degree angle spread of of beam from the very clever little lens system – the effect of the lamps is very even spread of light. For some people the light colour of the “cool white” might be just a wee bit to cool for living rooms and bedrooms. Philips GU10 WARM WHITE HOWEVER, this is way too warm YELLOW for my liking- plus light output is much lower than the Cool-white version. The latest offer on a 6x pack puts the price per bulb at well under 2 making them the best value for money I have encountered for this type of bulb. I have had a bunch of these LED bulbs working now for several months with ABSOLUTELY NO FAILURES thus far.

    Good white light lamps
Good clean white (not bluish) light. Grest for kitchen and utility areas where you want good light. Although labelled cool white, they are are probably around 5000k colour temperature which gives them a nice soft white coloured light.

As for construction, they are all glass which hopefully lead to a long life. These replaced similar lamps but had plastic and metal construction which failed after a short period of time.

    Great replacement for dimmable halogens.
These are great replacements for dimmable halogen bulbs. I had tried similar from lumilife but theirs didn’t dim to the same low levels as the halogens and some started to flicker after a few months. These Philips bulbs are very much better. They really do dim down and the colour temperature is very similar to halogen. Highly recommended.

    Great looking for LED Bulbs
I am replacing all the halogen bulbs in my house and these were for the lounge and kitchen. I had looked at lots of bulbs over the years but none of them look very nice but now LED bulbs have advanced in appearance and there is a lot more choice.

These Phillips bulbs have a polished silver cover on the sides and look good in the stainless steel housings in the light fittings. The front is a fogged plastic which is well designed and looks good.

Overall very satisfied with these bulbs which will save me money on my electricity bill.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazing Lights
Well I’m blown away by these bulbs! Seems a bit silly really, but our kitchen has always been a bit dark. It’s below ground level and there are 6 spot lights in the ceiling.
The old bulbs were Diall brand from B&Q, these Phillips ones blow them out of the water!
The wattage is the same and the lumens are only 10 more, and the light is still a comfortable warm colour.
Yet somehow the light is spread out so much more, these easily light the room twice as well as the old ones!
Surprising how a small thing can make you happy, but these were a great buy 🙂

    Good Supplier knowledge and service
These actually did not match my requirement and were replaced (a return/re-order) after a telephone conversation with the supplier. This was more helpful to get the right brightness required, and therefore in this instance real life interaction proved better than trying to determine product description and specs from list.
Not faulting bulb mfc either, an alternative day light intensity unit from same company selected.

Bought these to replace 12 cheap LEDs I bought off Amazon. All of the cheap ones blew within a month so I decided to try a known brand even though these are twice the price. So far all of these have survived intact (6 months) proving the saying “buy cheap, buy twice”. Next time I will not waste my time buying cheap, unbranded bulbs.

    The best bulbs I've found
I had a constant problem with cheap LED bulbs in our kitchen / diner, where we have 17 lights. These are the only ones I’ve found that I don’t get any issues with. They may be more expensive than some, but in the long run, they are lasting longer and I’m not having any issues at low dim levels either. I’ll gradually convert the whole house to these as others come to their end of life.

Great value, and work very well with my dimmer switch.
Bought these to put in a ceiling light fitting with 4 bulbs, connected to a dimmer switch. Bulbs are bright, brighter than I expected. They dim very well, making no noticeable hum, and in fact less than some halogens connected to a different knob on the same light switch. As the description says, they are warm white, and for me a little too warm, I prefer a more neutral white, but these only seem to come in warm white. Dimmers vary, so I may have been lucky with the compatibility of mine.

    Lovely
The people who have given this a bad review have simply demonstrated their poor grasp of lighting. Philips haven’t made a claim about the lifetime of the product (15,000 hours is NOT written on the box, and would be meaningless anyway without saying what they are testing them to – they are a good manufacturer, they’ll last OK unless you have bad wiring). You can basically buy a known brand (GE, Sylvania, Osram, Philips and probably supermarket own brand) and get something reliable, or you can buy a cheap import and roll the dice on quality. I liked these, the colour temperature was as stated, and they had good colour rendering – the light felt comfortable. They also weren’t hideously bright to stare at, and the surface had a nice sparkle to it like the old ones. Do note that this type of lamp does have a beam angle, so check it if it’s important to you.

…. Purchased these for a neighbour who had ‘lost’ a few bulbs in the kitchen (spotlight style arrays) making it a bit darker than ideal for putting together G&Ts, something had to be done! So ordered these had them delivered; they fitted well into standard GU10 bulb housings and as you would expect from Philips were of a standard high quality, after fitting everything is now supremely bright!! It lights up the street every time the kitchen light goes on, which is handy for me so I know when to pop over for gin!

Really good, nice and bright and spread light wellrather than just focusing in certain areas. They are a nice bright white suited to modern homes, I much prefer this to the creamish white that the fitting came with, and they aren’t quite so white that they look blue, bang on for me. They do have a slight whirling/humming sound though.

Works fine, but not very good for a kitche
These were an ideal fit for our fittings and they woked perfectly. Unfortunately I had to send mine back as they were just a bit on the lower end of the colour temperature than I wanted for our kitchen. They were just a bit too soft.

These are more suited for muted areas where you want to relax somewhat, not right for kitchens where you want a cleaner whiter light with less colour distortion.

Good overall but half made a high pitched whine
These are very bright and almost an aggressively cold white for my tastes. However I highly rate them and used a few in my storage cupboards around the property. 36 degree beam angle may not be for everyone but perfect for my application. Price on Amazon is very competitive atm. Downside is that 2 of 3 boxes of these bulbs I bought made a high pitched whine to varying degrees and drove me nuts so I sent most of them back for a refund. Poor quality control. Other than that, great!

    A few issues
Not a bad price for the 6 bulbs but prices a coming down all the time. They are ok bulbs but with a few issues which are enough to make me change them when i can. These bulbs a little longer than normal GU10 bulbs, so stick out of my spotlights where they are supposed to be flush. The main problem for me is the light beam pattern has no width so they are spot lights. the previous bulbs (minisun) had a wide beam of light so that there were no dark spots with the 4 spot ceiling light fitting I have.

Good dimming range and colour temperature. The problem that I had is that they appear to be very slightly longer when installing in dowlights where the lamp is retained by a spring clip in the body of the downlight. The previous tungsten halogen lamps fitted without a problem.

Wow! Amazing light output, I had a couple of my old LAP (Screwfix) bulbs go so thought I would spend a bit more on some new ones (these aren’t even 2 each in a pack of 6) and I am so glad I did, the en-suite is now a different place! These are so much better light in terms of closer to an original halogen bulb (warm white 50w)
Only downside is now I want to change all my house downlights to Philips bulbs!
Can’t comment on longevity as they have been in 5 mins, but even the LAP Led bulbs these have replaced were 7 years old, so am hoping for a similar lifespan.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood halogen replacements with high 90 CRI
Good reasonably priced 50w halogen replacement. The Warm Glow feature lowers the colour temperature of this bulb when dimmed, to mimic the classic colours and warm light of halogen bulbs when they are dimmed. The high CRI of 90 on this bulb quite accurately renders colours (the spec is wrong, as per Philips website this bulb has 90 CRI). Although when the bulb is off it doesn’t look as good as a halogen (no visible mirror reflectors), this is a good replacement compared to other low CRI bulbs without a similar feature to warm glow.

  84. WillardCordeaux says:

    Good for kitchen, minimal glare
First up 2 out of 6 bulbs were damaged on delivery but refund on those was easy so didn’t lose out there.
Previously I’d thought wide angle lights were good to get better coverage across the room but what that also means is they’re more blinding and you have to keep your gaze away from the lights. These bulbs are not wide angle so glare is much less of a problem.
The ‘cool white’ really suits a kitchen. It is bright and lively without being stark. I’ve tried several different colours previously from different brands and in a clean environment like a kitchen it’s nice not to be yellowy but also not sterile with too harsh a light. For me this is a happy middle ground that really does make the room feel comfortably airy.
Also, no flicker to that some lights might have.
Not sure how long these will last but aside from the originally damaged bulbs, none have gone yet, touch wood.
Overall, will but again, hopefully not too soon.

These LED light bulbs are great.
I’ve been using these bulbs for two months and so far they are great; they give out good light and I prefer them to the normal GU12 bulbs. I shall buy more when they need replacing but it won’t be for a long while yet as LED bulbs go on for ages..

    Warm Glow Excelle
Traditional halogen lamps become very yellow when dimmed, which is an attractive feature in a living room. These lamps simulate this very effectively and are a further clever development of LED lighting which can sometimes seem harsh. Excellent.

    Spot on.
Nice quality and smart looking bulb.

Runs a lot cooler than halogen, straight and simple replacement.

    So far so good
The thing with light bulbs is they are great until they fail. I bought these about 2 months ago which as the days are getting lighter means little use. I have them fitted in a kitchen to replace halogen bulbs, each being 40 watts previously times 4. (i.e. 160watts). The replacements at 4.6w, well, its a no brainer. If they last a year to 18 months then I have made the electric savings to pay for replacements. Saying that the box says 15,000 hours or 15 years.

They are fitted in the kitchen which probably has about 2 hours average a day which works out around 20 years. I think you can see where this is going. The potential savings are huge. Take the hit and buy them!

    UPDATE
6 months later, all still good

Brighter - lower operating temperature - expensive - saves on electric bill - lasts - Eco-friendly
So my room was getting too hot, I discovered I was using 6 x 50watt halogen bulbs (300 watt total!) that operated around 160-180 degrees Celsius. For a long time i’d put the temperature down to my gaming PC, monitors and the length of time I was in the room. Switching to these 4 watt bulbs (24 watt total) has really cut the electricity down and since then I’ve replaced the entire house where I can with them. They were 50 lumens brighter but significantly more expensive.

It’s hard to judge their logevity since there’s lots of factors as to why a bulb may blow and in many cases it’s due to the houses power output, faulty wiring, the light fitting and many more things. So far 1 has blown out of a total of 30 bought but I would say that’s a decent outcome. The one that stopped working stopped the moment I turned on the lights after swapping the bulb, it tripped the fuse. Replacing it with a different one worked but I have no way of gauging whether or not it’s the bulb at fault.

Overall these are more expensive but operate much cooler than halogen and are far more Eco-friendly and reduce your overall electricity output.

    Great Spot Lights!
I bought these back at the start of the year, to replace some normal spot lights, and months later they are all still working as intended. No loss of light or blowing-out whatsoever. They were more expensive than normal spot lights, but definitely worth the money. I was replacing a bulb regularly (at least 1-2 per month) before, and now I haven’t even needed to change a single bulb.

Definitely worth buying, that’s for sure.

Good bulbs - but not dimming type
Unfortunately these were recommended as the bulbs to buy for a Westinghouse ceiling fan which I bought. Sadly, these are non-dimmer bulbs, and the remote control Westinghouse ceiling fans offer dimming. Fortunately, we have other uses in the house for the non-dimming bulbs.

All the advantages of LED without the nasty clinical glare of cold white LED
The “warm glow” part of the name is certainly correct. Even though these are LED they give a lovely warm tinge akin to a traditional incandescent bulb… and they can be dimmed, which adds even more to the ease of creating just the right atmosphere.

    Nice and brigh
Have put these into our bathroom spotlights. Lovely bright lights, and very good value from an established brand.

Nice warm light with no flicke
Replaced some cheaper bulbs that would flicker a lot especially when dimmed. These don’t flicker at all. The spotlight angle sounded small but they do give a decent spread of light. It might be more noticeable if they’re in a low ceiling

Bright, soft and best of all, low wattage!
I bought these lamps to replace what were your typical incandescent bulbs for a fixture recently purchased. My house as a whole is filled with LED bulbs (all Philps, some smart, others less so) and it was actually a fair surprise when I could feel the actual heat coming off the bulbs supplied with the fixture. It’s been a while and it makes you realise quite how wasteful older bulbs can be!

As a result I went ahead and purchased these. They clicked in as you’d expect of the usual spotlight style bulbs and I was actually fairly surprised at quite how soft and diffused the bulbs actually were. It almost made the room feel like a showroom to a degree (which depending on your tastes, is great or terrible).

At 4.6w a bulb it’s a no-brainer energy consumption-wise and as I’ve been fortunate over the past few years to not yet have a single LED bulb go on me yet!

    Great bulbs. Nice and cosy
Great lights.. I would personally like them a little bit warmer but the are much better then horrible glaring bright white bulbs. And to be honest I have six ceiling lights in a medium size kitchen, so I think it would be tricky to find warmer ones.
