After having my furniture, rugs and mattress cleaned each year I stumbled across this item. It costs less than having a professional come round, so has paid for itself in its first use! It’s now become invaluable for any small spills as well as for being used for bigger tasks like mattress cleaning each year. It is rather effortful and I find the floor often gets a little wet too but it has saved hundreds so far in no having a professional company come round. I’d definitely recommend if you’re physically able to use this yourself, although note it does take about two hours to do a thorough job. I’d recommend suctioning without the spray several times to make sure you take off as much dirty water as possible, and hoover beforehand otherwise I find the suction nozzle can get a bit full of fluff and pet hair.
Also be sure to follow their advice in cleaning it and leaving running for a while after using, so it can dry itself out.

This is great for spot cleaning, very quick and easy to get out and use and gives good results.
Was torn between a full size carpet cleaner and this spot cleaner.
Its perfect for the sofa, stairs, small areas on the carpet like hall or pet accidents.
I have used it to clean a full bedroom carpet. The results were good but was not worth the 45 minutes it took.
Would definitely reccomend a full size cleaner if you intend on doing a full room more than once.
It did however bring my sofa up like new again in a matter of minutes!

Not for the faint hearted … im pretty fit and this had me sweating to get the water up properly you need to really use some force pushing the nozzle down while pulling it along so I wouldn’t recommend to someone who’s got hand/wrist issues .. but it did the job and my sofa smells lovely too !

Does what it says on the tin.
Easy to use. Note that it is a spot cleaner and not for whole carpets. It works really well and took most of marks out of my carpet, bar one deep grease stain which will need another go.
A great spot cleaning tool
Easy to clean, easy to use for small areas. If you need to clean stairs this is ideal. I bought it to clean some rugs, but I wish I had bought the upright model as this is really most suitable for cleaning relatively small areas of carpet. Still a great product, though.
Big, heavy and brilliant (like me!)
Bought this to replace an upright Bissell that died after about 10 uses!! As we had replaced most of the carpet in our house with wood, but still had carpeted stairs and bedrooms – and an old cat – we decided for something smaller and portable for spot-cleaning.
The bad: This thing is BIG – like the size of 2 trunki’s – taking up more floor space than the upright it replaced! It’s also heavy, but thankfully has a robust carry handle and an additional extending “luggage-style” extending handle to wheel around the house. It also has a “motorised brush” which is a bit funny to watch as it just wiggles back and forth, rather than spinning. However, seemed to work. Spray is about an inch behind the brush, so you have to angle the thing to spray before scrubbing if working on a small space e.g. stairs. Filling the water butt up is a pain as it’s difficult to get a good grip on.
The good: This machine cleans really well – significantly better than the full-size Bissell it replaced. It took up some oil stains on our carpet that I thought were permanent! It is cleverly designed to fit on a step so you can easily do stairs, though I would probably keep a hand on it if yours are shallow. Easy to set up and use on small patches, which is what we needed (but I wouldn’t use this on a whole room). Also worked well on my chair and sofa, causing no damage (I turned off the motorised brush for this).
I highly recommend this cleaner for occasional users e.g. pets, kids and red wine spillages. It is much better than the bigger upright Bissell we had in almost every way, and cheaper!

AMAZING PRODUCT
Well what can I say about the Rug Doctor apart from it’s the best carpet cleaner ever made?
I have always used Rug Doctor (the bigger machine) and I’ve never been disappointed. So buying this little one works just as well. I have lack of space in my home so that’s why I opted for this over the bigger machine.
I was able to clean my couch (the amount of muck to come out of it, omg) and clean my living room carpet. I am still amazed by the results. Everyone who has carpets in their homes needs to own a Rug Doctor.
After so much research I finally decided on my initial hunch, much to my relief. I am lucky enough to own a full size Rug Doctor pro machine that my ex mocked me for investing in. Two days later she knocked a glass of red wine onto our five day old light beige carpet!!!!! I held my breath whilst I plugged in in and pulled the lever. One word, fantastic, what stain???? All gone and just outstanding. I have always had faith in Rug Doctor and it was on this faith that I purchased this little beauty. The only difference between the full size version and the smaller one is it’s size only. I own a large motorhome and over the year the little shitzu (and he is and does!) had one or two unfortunate accidents as he is only a pup. It was the site of one fairly large stain that used to get to me every time I saw it. The stain was about six months old and it was about eight or nine inches in diameter. The carpets in the motor home are light so it showed every time I would walk in. I figured that for 150.00 What could I lose? I could always return it after all. Just like the full size one it was already to go once received. The supplied chemical mixed in with the warm water and plugged in, off we go with crossed fingers. Stain??? What stain??? Six months old!!! Whats in it I have no idea but it is just brilliant. For my purposes as a cleaner for my motor home it was and is just fantastic. I cannot praise it enough. If I could give it ten out of five I would. Compared to all others it has the most powerful motor and that’s what you need to be able to suck out the stuff you need to get rid of. Also it’s the only one with a reciprocating brush that agitates the pile and that is really important that it gets into the pile, the others don’t ! If I were you I really wouldn’t bother doing any more research. This little unit is like my little dog, may be little but thinks it’s a Rottweiler. It really gets the job done and once you see what’s in the dirty water container you will be thinking, maybe I should empty this where nobody can see me!!!
A couple of tips when using. #1 Make sure you use only the designated solution and NOT the standard Rug Doctor carpet cleaner. #2 Just apply pressure to the front of the head whilst using on carpet pile so that it gets a good suction. That’s it! This is a brilliant machine and I have 100% confidence in not only using it but recommending it.

its so cool but wont get rid of my older stains, if i do a spileage in beginning of week i cant wait till wknd to clean which is awkward if it’s a matrass or chair as its wet for a while and then unusable.

This machine does what it says on the box.having a large family of cats, the spot cleaner cleans the carpet really well. I was impressed how easy it was to use.
I previously had a vac carpet cleaner which was brilliant however a pain to lug around and the cords got in the way. Having an elderly dog and 7 year old I desperately needed a replacement after the vac broke (after 2 years of use). When the rug doctor arrived I cleaned the whole of my front room carpet which took a while but it came up brilliantly. Now if there is an accident it is so easy to whip out the rug doctor and it’s gone in minutes. Easy to fill and empty (the advice of emptying the dirty water into the toilet was priceless) I can’t wait to use this for my car seats although after seeing the dirty tank from my carpets I dread to think what will be pulled from my car interior.
A very useful cleaning aid
Use it when valeting cars. It’s amazing how much dirt this, along with the cleaner, gets out. Leaves carpets slightly damp. Strong suction. Used at home to clean up heavily trodden areas. Very happy with the purchase.

This is a really good machine very efficient at what it is designed to do and easily portable. It has saved me a lot of trouble and expense when having to recover my carpet from dog soiling during recent bouts of illness. If the soiling is addressed asap I found it completely removed any stains. I withheld one star because of a small irritation when filling the cleaner. I found the reservoir a bit tricky to hold having to steady it whilst filled with water and then adding the cleaning fluid.I highly recommend this produc

Easy to set up and easy to use. I think I will be using this cleaner quite a lot as I have a puppy and little accidents can be sorted quickly and easily with this. I like this spot cleaner-i mostly have laminate flooring but have a few rugs scattered about the house. I used to have an upright vax carpet cleaner but disnt have the space to keep it anywhere and it was a pain getting it up and down the stairs as it was heavy. This is very good- it will balance on my stairs and is not too heavy and cumbersome. Cleaned my stiars well and my rugs- even did my shaggy rug without a problem where as my vax couldnt cope with it! Certainly a good investment.

Bought to protect our new carpets following unwell pooch and offspring tea spilling incidents. Both resolved and this is a great tool for clearing up localised stains. Took ages for the spray function to work – so long I thought it was defective and called customer services, but it just takes a while for the fluid to come through from new. Doesn’t take up much space either.

Having an elderly dog who has started urine spotting in the house I first tried an upright vax cleaner, cleaned the carpets three times and didn’t make much of a difference. Just brought this cleaner as thought it would have better concentration on an area and what a difference! Takes abit of time being a spot cleaner but its really good and getting deep down in the carpet, suction is very strong. My carpets now smell so fresh and looks like new. The rotating brush really helps to work any dirt out the carpet. I really can’t recommend this cleaner enough its amazing!
Embarrassing as it is showing the before picture, it just goes to show how fantastic this is. In a home with 2 children and 4 dogs this is a long time coming! I’ve rented them before but never thought about getting my own. Honestly amazing, a must have for homes with children and pets!!
On wheels with double handle
I have used the upright rug dr and always found it an excellent carpet shampooer so I was pleased to see a small version or spot cleaner of this product. So far I have cleaned three very dirty rugs and they have all cleaned up well.I believe the brush head with it’s motorised function is a tremendous help to spot cleaning, the extending handle is also very useful in moving from area to area

I have a few lower cost machines for carpet cleaning but this is by far the best and actually works!! It’s a spot cleaner but I cleaned the whole carpet as it was so good! Thouroughly reccomend this product! It does take longer with only a small head but I think this is why you get such good results.

I’m amazed, considering this is a domestic use appliance. If you need to thoroughly clean rugs, small carpets and stairs you need this thing in your life. I didn’t think the stairs were that dirty but the tank on the machine proved otherwise.

The rug doctor is good but is extremely noisy while using and has taken 4 hours to do half my sitting room carpet. Looking at the results it is worth it in the long run though. Keep a window open though as by the time I’d finished the room was full of smoke!

Very, very pleased with the machine, bought it to clean the stair carpet and having two dogs, it comes in handy this weather to remove muddy paw marks on the other carpets,if they get past us wiping their feet.

I made one mistake when I bought a large bottle of Rug Doctor carpet cleaner with it and I should have bought a large bottle of Rug Doctor spot cleaner but even that works effectively. Very robust and well made. Easy to use and very transportable. Best of all is the outstanding performance. All stains were removed so I carried on and cleaned all the furniture cushions fabrics and items that would not fit in my washer. I recommend this machine and this seller… Thank you.

Excellent spot cleaner. We have a Westie who often causes dirty patches here and then on my carpet. The Rug Doctor cleans them very effectively. Obviously this doesn’t clean large areas of carpet, but for spot cleaning I would highly recommend.

Great bit of kit if you have animals in the house, cleans small patches of carpet wonderfully. Will be trying it on the car seats as soon as the weather improves!
Nicely designed tool
Nicely designed tool; may not be quite as capable as the full sized R-D machines but easier to repeat stubborn spots or areas.
This machine is a lightweight powerhouse and I can see myself becoming a rug doctoring addict after just two uses … I’m already thinking of what I could rug doctor next …. car seats I think (although I dread to think what will come out of them – the waste-water is gross and yet so satisfying!).
It is easy to carry around, easy to fill and empty and doesn’t leave the carpets too wet either. I’ve used it on puppy accident marks that had been washed before but never really disappeared. This baby made tidy work of them though and left my (pale beige) carpets looking like nothing had ever happened. Result!
Next I tackled the stairs … used by four people, me and my three sons, plus an occasional mountain bike taken up to a bedroom for maintenance. As well as the usual traffic marks, there were also small spots where the oily bike chain had caught the edge of the stair. No problem for the Doctor of Rugs though … he magicked them away in a flash. Brilliant! I thoroughly recommend this machine to everyone and anyone.
Yes, it’s not designed for large areas, but I plan to do all my carpeted rooms in sections over time. No need to hire and schlep a full sized machine from and to the shops again any more … hurray!

Only for small areas.
Bit small for anything other than spills (stating the obvious) however I have a really small amount of carpet so I thought i’d chance it. I definitely felt it the next day! That’s not to say it cant be done but its very time consuming and a lot of muscle power, so if you want this for whole carpeted areas, I’d strongly advise you get an upright.

While this is designed for spots, I patiently use this on my stairs. It can take a while to do and is extremely loud, but does a great job of making the carpet look brand new.

Brilliant for using on the little accidents my puppy is currently having whilst potty training. Now I don’t have to worry so much! The fact that it folds away as small as it does makes it’s easy to store. Very pleased

My Machine has stopped sucking up water im not sure how to contact anyone to activate a warranty call.
Have only used it once to suck up spilt water from fish tank. It removed quite a lot (one container full will use again tomorrow to see if gets more out of carpet. Don’t intend to use it for carpet cleaning at moment but will see once carpet has got dried. But useful for future accidents with fish tank. will give update in a few months to report any problems.

A great little machine, the best carpet cleaner I have ever had which was put to work the day it arrived.Simple to use and easy to handle.Effective on tough stains leaving my carpets clean and fresh. I’m glad I bought it.

I cannot believe i didn’t know about this sooner, so simple to fill up and use, have already cleaned my sofas with it and they have come up like new, next the rug! would definately recommend.
Being abit of a car detailing enthusiast I wanted to purchase a portable carpet cleaner to remove some water stains from a front passenger seat, as traditionally elbow grease wouldn’t budge it! Unleashed the rug doctor and they were removed in seconds. Seats as good as new. Out of interest I tried it on my car this morning that gets vacuumed weekly and is very rarely eaten in… it’s fair to say the resulting contents of the dirty tank was embarrassing. Suction is excellent and the unit only requires very minimal maintenance. My only criticism is the front hose storage as it can be tricky to get it lined up to sit nicely in storage (might be me being a wally?).

A lightweight machine that takes a little effort to use but performs brilliantly. Love the suitcase style handle that pulls up enabling machine to be rolled along to where you need it. Would have deducted half a star if I could, because the clean water container is tricky to fill as it has no flat bottom to stand on and has to be held in the hand whilst juggling cleaning fluid and the hot water tap! Other than that, it’s great.
Used the rug doctor as soon as it arrived, it’s by far the best carpet cleaner I ever had and I’ve had a few the so called best one’s this is the best I recommend any one with kid’s and pets to get one worth every penny.

Have tried this on upholstery & rugs, it does exactly what it says on the tin, fuss free & really easy to use. The only drawback is the noise, hence the 4 stars, it’s rather loud, so headphones or earplugs might help…

PErfect for the small spills and dog mess we occasionally have. I went over some old stains and it brought the carpet up beautifully. Wiosh I had bought this from the start instead of dropping 300 on a full size carpet cleaner that is a hassle to drag around when cleaning up a small accident.
Easy to use and clears most stains. A bit fiddly setting up but once done it works very well. Easy to over “wet” the floor and scrub too hard but it does what it’s meant to do.

This is a beautiful little machine which provides the same service as the larger appliance. It is easy to operate and has freshened up my carpets where my dogs had little toiletry accidents and also cleaned up my suite after the parrots throw fruit on it. It is ideal for those little spills and I would recommend it to any pet owner or even families with small childre

very good but it is only a little brush you are buying. mistakenly I thought it was a mini rug doctor with a narrower track when I saw the two handles ( I presumed one for carrying and one for pushing) but no they both seem to be for carrying or wheeling – strange. Anyway its excellent on a stain but really takes a lot of effort if you want to clean any real area.
The machine does its job, the design of the hoses means they kink when being wrapped around.

I’m a big fan of the large rug doctor so when this came on the market I thought I would give it a go.it’s so easy to set up and to manoeuvre. I’ve a two year old and I’ve just gone through the house cleaning up marks and just cleaned the stairs. I’ve cleaned the car upholstery, headboard and dining chairs it’s great. It’s not suitable for whole room cleaning and in fairness it wasn’t sold as such. Great machine only thing I would improve is the length of the power cord.
