My elderly and quite deaf father uses this daily as an alert to wake him from an afternoon snooze. The ring is loud enough and long enough to do this so I guess it would be fine in the kitchen. (This is the second one purchased, the first one failed after 2 1/2 years of daily use, so I don’t really begrudge having to buy another at this price).
A good timer for the money. A wee bit fiddly to get the timer started, but once you get the hang of it, the timer works well. A good bell!!

This is the second Salter timer I have bought.It shows I was happy with the first one,it is very sturdy and value for money.I had the first one longer than the guarantee of 3 years.

When the time came to replace our old wind-up timer, we bought a digital one thinking it would be more efficient. We were wrong and after only several months of having to regularly change batteries, we reverted back to a manual timer and bought this Salter manual timer which not only looks good but is extremely functional and efficient.
A good well made timer that can be used for many purposes. Clockwork so no need for batteries. Looks nice next to the Aga.

It’s not a cheap flimsy timer like most are, I’ve had so many that break days after buying them, this is definitely worth the price, I guess you only get what you pay for!

My very old Smiths timer was a 5 hour clock before the plastic completely disintegrated but it seems no one makes them any more. This one hour timer does the job and times well. Just have to remember how many one hour times I have done if it is a longer time I need!
i need reminding while cooking and this does it perfectly.It has a good base so doesn,t get knocked over unlike my last egg-type timer.
Very nice timer … it has a good long ring, not frighteningly loud so it doesn’t make you jump … it’s good to have a mechanical timer, as they all seem to be digital now. Very accurate and nice looking brushed stainless steel, happy to leave it out on the worktop.

Repeat purchase. Just very easy to use and nice to have something chunky rather than electronic. This is a replacement product for an identical model that lasted over 5 years with a lot of use.
This is an easy to use timer. Just remember to fully wind the timer all the way round and wind back to the time you want to set it to. The bell rings for a long time and is quite loud. I give it 10/10.

It does as it says in the advert , the ring is long and loud just what is required.
It’s just a minute off my digital version. Long & fairly loud trill fades comically at the end. Decent size for slippy bakers’ hands!
Works very well. Make sure you follow the instructions and the label on the back – wind the pinger round to 60 minutes and then back to the time you want, otherwise you won’t get a full ring when the time’s up.
It could do with better non-slip feet though as it doesn’t stay put.
People whinging in their reviews that you can’t hear the ring should try reading the instructions!

Bought for mum as a reminder to turn gas off she sets it for 10 mins when she’s heating her food up just to remind her to check gas is off when finished cooking very loud ringer she hears in next room

Does the job and the alarm is quite loud. Bonus no batteries required.
And works like a charm. Quicker to use than faffing about with the timer on the oven. However I see the price has gone up a couple of pounds since I bought (around 9 pounds) it and I thought THAT was really too expensive. I’m pretty sure the markup is only because it has the Salter reputation behind it.

I bought it for my husband who has a tendency to put a saucepan of food on the hob then walk away and forget it! I did have to remind him to set the timer though.

A good item from a well known maker. A very simple timer for most kithcen jobs. BUT unlike some of the electronic version it has no repeat Nota problem as there are no batteries to worry about.

This is the second one I’ve bought – the first was probably a few years back from the high street so I was surprised to find it on Amazon. My husband likes it as it’s so easy to use by just turning the dial and with the type of work he does (timing how long a task takes) it gets constant use all day and has proved to stand up to that sort of use. There are other types of timers on the market but he insisted I got another Salter. So thanks Salter don’t change from this very simple but long lasting design.
