Delivered quickly. Needed to hang some things on a stud all. Identified where the studs were, so I was able to drill into them. Just what I wanted.7
Pretty darn good
Haven’t really given this a good thorough testing, but it’s worked great for me so far. I’ve used it for detecting studs, and electrical wires, and I haven’t hit one yet.
Excellent even for a first time DIY-er to use
It does the work!
I wanna go for a BOSCH at first, however, the price is too high for a casual user like me. This one is an obvious China made lower quality product, but it does the job! I have used it before drilling to mount my Dyson v10 and a new TV, the deep mode works accurately, very good value for money.

Very lightweight right out of the box which made me think it would be flimsy, but it’s actually a well built tool and seems durable. The display is big and readable, and scanning around the house it seems to be picking out studs and electrical wires with good accuracy, including picking out the edges of the studs. Very pleased!

Other than having to insert the battery, the product is fully functioning straight out of the box.
Super simple to use and gives a clear indication of where you can and more importantly can’t drill.
Tested in a couple of areas where I knew there were studs behind the wall and live wires. All picked up with great accuracy. Just make sure to follow the super simple instructions.

Saved ourselves hundreds!!
Arrived this morning, not a moment too soon. My son wanted to put up some bedroom shelves in an old house, but I refused to let him drill until we had checked. And thank goodness we did!! turns out the house was built by sadistic cowboys who have sent both water an electrics from bathroom across the wall in seemingly random ways, no way could he have put up shelves on that wall! For 20, saved ourselves hundred in emergency plumbing!! This little tool is a lifesaver!
The Studfinder informed my drilling location and depth
After some initial experiments during which I tried to work out how to hold the thing against the wall (flat? perpendicular? away from it?) the studfinder proved highly accurate (tested against a known wire location) and so enabled me to drill very warily when I knew I was close to a wire buried in the wall. I’m sure the manufacturer assumed that even dim members of the buying public would eventually work out how to get it to react to whatever mysteries might lie hidden behind the plaster work and sure enough: I did. Re-reading the destructions after several fruitless and puzzling attempts to decipher the beeps and visual readout did finally make sense. Following this period of learning, I am now very pleased indeed with my purchase 🙂

flexible and accurate, and has a constant watch for electric cables, it can give you a clues to how a wall looks beneath the surface, but use in conjunction with caution and observation.

I bought this to use in my home, mainly for hanging pictures. I have been borrowing one from work which is more expensive but not as good as this one! I have only used it briefly so far but I’m very impressed with the funtions, it way surpasses the more expensive one and its very easy to use! I will be reccomending it to everybody I know, especially my son in law who was after one! Delivery was next day and well packaged.

Then hold the unit to the wall in this position and hold down the right hand side button until the bars on screen go from the top to the bottom. Then you can move it across the wall and it’ll show the left side of the stud found, the centre and the right hand side. Fantastic and very accurate.
It also works pretty well in detecting electricity cables when I tested it near switches and sockets. To calibrate for electical cable detection, hold the unit in the air then hold the right hand side button until the bars go from top to bottom. Then place on the wall to find the cables.
So far I’m very happy with the unit and it’s going to be essential in the various projects I have in our new apartment.

I like that this was delivered early, by a day. I unpacked it read the instructions, and then tried it out. It is remarkably easy to use, if you calibrate the relevant mode before using it. A clear signal on using it for AC current positions. A valuable tool to have in my toolbox

Can’t tell you how many years I’ve spent estimating the centres of studs for fixing things. Should have bought one of these a long time ago. Incredibly easy to use which is great for the non technical types. Ready to use with a few simple button pushes, and very accurately tells you exactly where the studs/cables are for easy fixing. Highly recommended.
Perfect aid to mounting a TV!
Needed to mount a 50″ plasma on a stud wall, first time ever doing this. The item arrived on time thanks to prime, first thought when it arrived was “damn, I need a battery for it” but upon opening the box the manufacturer had supplied one already in the box. The instructions are in clear english and easy to understand. Using the device was straightforward, it found the studs first time, accurately. The plasma is up and it aint going anywhere. I would 100% recommend this simple yet effective tool to anyone.

Tavool Stud Center Finder Metal and AC Live Wire Detector (TH250).
Very pleased that I bought this product as it detects accurately preventing any dangerous problems. It was delivered the same day I ordered it, fantastic. This is a very useful tool and all houses and flats should have one as it is so easy to use and an excellent product. I hung four extra large mirrors and it found the stud centres very quickly and easily avoiding wires. I am so thankful I found this Tavool Stud Center and will always use it when doing jobs that need it. Thanks to Tavool for this product.
Easy to use, versatile and accurate scanne
This is a versatile product that seems to do the job finding studs, metal and AC wires. Calibration is a bit fiddly, but once done it works fine.

I am a professional AV installer and it is a common occurence to try and mount heavy equipment on a wall when you have no clue where the supporting studs are.

Works Well, RTFM
I tested it as soon as it arrived by placing batteries in and trying it out – I got all sorts of crazy beeps.
The I read the manual and found it needs calibrating to the surface each time – which makes sense as the material density changes.
Now I’ve RTFM it works a treat!

Needs a little practice and do read the instructions
To practice, first read the instructions all the way through. Then find a wall where you know there is a power cable or metal. Using the high sensitivity find the cable – you will find it but the path will be wide and not accurate. Now following the instructions recue the sensitivity. Now you can accurately follow the metal or power cable. Try in another are where there is a cable – look near to wall lights and power sockets. Also try metal pipes until you are confident.
Good value for money
A nicely designed product. Seems to be woring fine for me. Did not expect that it would require calibration each time you use it. It has mode fir detecting different materials. A combined mode for quick detection would be useful.
Reasonable price compared to competitors
A little early to tell for certain, but seems as reliable as some of the more expensive, branded, competitors. These things are notoriously hit-and-miss, which is ironic. However, so far, it seems ok.
Does what it says and is well priced
Good quality and price. Does what it’s supposed to and has helped me avoid a couple of pipes and electrical cables already as well as finding studs to screw in to.
The only thing I would say is to make sure you read the instructions as you need to calibrate it every time you use it or it won’t be very accurate.
Cheap and simple but effective.
Within a few minutes of opening the box was up and running. Unit was quick and easy to calibrate (ie press button while holding in a place according to what is to be scanned – see instructions).
Has already highlighted some studs for me and also pointed out electrical cables on back of wall!
Have given 4* for now as I have only used on one job so far, however I think it is going to be a great addition to my tool box.

Bought this stud finder after moving into a new house ful of stud walls yuk! but this little device is amazing it has never given me a false reading yet studs pipes or ac power cables never miss anything wish i had bought one years ago instead of drilling a series of holes to find the studs then trusting the first fix joiners were good enough to equi-space them i can deffo recomend this dont let the cheap price put you off and dont be a tool tart this is the one for you
Wall scanne
The scanner seems robust and works well from my limited attempts. However, it is not that intuitive to use, so I will be keeping the instructions for the moment,hence the 4 stars.
Saved us from an expensive mistake!
This is a great little tool for new home owners who are not too sure what to do with a drill! It is reassuring to use this on the walls – it saved us from hitting water pipes in our bathroom! A must have for your tool box – very accurate and easy to use! Also if you are like us, you will find out where all the pipes, wires and wooden supports are in your house, as the tool can be quite addictive!
Have done some testing with known pipes, studs and wires to get the hang of it before venturing on to walls/floors unknown.
Purpose is to find pipes under floorboards before I screw down any creaking boards, prior to carpeting.
You calibrate it by holding in the air, away from any sources and pressing a button.
I found this initial calibration left it too sensitive and it would say a metal pipe was several inches wide, this was great for finding things and would find things that were quite deep. When the bars were almost at the top I re-calibrated it and then it started to actually show the form of the pipe. In one known area there were 3 pipes next to each other, large, small, large. You could actually see this on the display as for the two large pipes the display peaked and beeped and for the smaller pipe it almost made it to the top — with a drop in the middle of each pipe.
So I’d say this looks to be an excellent tool. Once you’ve got the hang of calibrating it to refine the exact position it works excellently and hopefully will pay for itself many times over by not screwing into pipes!

The stud finder assisted me when hanging curtain poles.
I was able to tell where the electric wires where so that I could avoid drilling into them.

Nice bright screen, easy to use and calibrate, found the studs I was looking for and accurately alerted to center of each stud. Would by another if required. Good battery life and audible beep when detecting. I believe this stud detector is very suitable for the general DIYer and would recommend especially with its reasonable price.

Pretty good stud finder. You can get a few false positives, but you just need to re-calibrate a few times and it doesn’t take you long to work out exactly where all your studs are. It’s nice also to have the constant live wire detection – this can also give a few false positives but that’s certainly better than false negatives when electricity is involved!

The item was delivered very quickly, was well packaged and performs well I have tried all the tests and mostly very accurate. Well worth the money and a useful addition to your toolkit.

Still working out how to get it accurate but at its basic level does the job really well. Trying to get consistent pin point accuracy is a bit trickier but will come with a bit more practise.

Stud finding took a little longer where the stud was a batten against a block wall this required some searching & was not easily apparent but on one weekend for a few small jobs worked ok just needs more use to become familiar with the kit. Good price for a better diy product.

Easy to use
Using this detector is very straightforward and detecting AC wires seems to work well. The detector needs to be re-calibrated for each location and to change the sensitivity but this is easy to do.

The product does what is says it does. It is very easy to use and you only have to put in the batteries and you are ready to go.
I had some trouble with understanding how it exactly worked with detecting different types of materials but after reading the manual a few times and trying it out on places where I knew for certain where materials are in the wall and it worked very well. Just try it out a few times and you understand how it works 🙂

I needed to put up some shelving in a Victorian house with plaster and lath walls. It was therefore vital to locate the stud work. It not only did that job, but also found an electrical cable that I didn’t know about. Could have been a life saver!!
Its accurate, it arrived on time and it is a reasonable cost. What is there not to like about it! It even comes with the necessary batteries.

Minor quibble is having to recalibrate it each time but that is a minor quibble on my part. Light enough to hold up against the wall etc but has a solid feel to it. Having the little notch to pinpoint the centre of what you are tracing is handy. Overall I would recomend this tool and have no hesitation in giving it a five star rating.

Build quality, it doesn’t feel solid in your hand but it is of an average build quality.
Use, I have tested it on all surfaces I have at my disposal in the house and I find the accuracy to be usable. It occasionally gives me feedback that when I double check has disappeared, it just takes a little bit of common sense to get a believable feedback. Overall I am more than happy with this product and it will give me some peace of mind where I previously had a good guess.
A very cost effective product! It is easy to use as well. After some tests, I realized that the calibration is very important. For instance, you can train your self at the place with known sources of signals.

Excellent product, used to detect cables behind the walls in my house. The device helped me from making a mess, turns out that one of the walls I was planning on drilling through had multiple supply cables running through it. I would definitely recommend this, easy to use and very accurate.
Having just moved into an apartment where all the pipes and electricity cables of the adjoining apartments could be passing through my walls I was terrified of even hanging a picture.
After reading many reviews I decided to purchase the Tavool stud, cable and pipe detector and have not been disappointed. After getting to grips with the calibration it became quite easy to use and now wouldn’t knock a nail in without first doing a quick scan.
Accurate and easy to use
I needed to establish if anything was located in the wall of our new house before I installed a new towel rail. The device accurately found the stud framework so I could actually fix into it.

I used it already to determine where electrical wiring is evident in the utility room and checked it against drawings as the house was built recently. I needed to know where AC cables were behind a plasterboard wall
The Studfinder arrived on the due date satisfactorily. I have tried it out where there are known studs and AC cables, it located the studs OK. The AC cable feature is very sensitive, this sensitivity can be overcome by switching off and scanning at the edge of where the cable was first detected. I’ll only know its usefulness when I’ve had it a little longer. So up to now, it’s all good.

Useful tool for finding wooden studs
Easy to set up and use. Did not work for a few minutes but then successfully found the wooden stud behind a plasterboard wall. Not sure how accurate the centre indicator is, as seems to vary slightly when retesting.
Accurate location fo hidden dangers
Excellent product, which detects accurately preventing any dangerous mishaps when hanging anything on walls. Particularly good at locating studs to aid hanging heavy items. Easy to set-up and also supplied with a 9v battery, so ready to go out of the box.
Does what it says on the box.
I bought the Tavool stud centre finder and AC live wire detector whilst fitting a new kitchen, mainly for detecting live cable runs. This is one of the cheapest detectors on the market and I did wonder whether it would be any good. I have been pleasantly surprised by how well it works. It detects live wires accurately and also cable runs that are not live in its metal detecting mode. I have not used the stud detection. I have found that frequent calibrations, when in use, improves accuracy. Very pleased with product and highly recommend it.
Have had very mixed results with these kind of tools in the past but based on previous reviews thought I would give this one a go. Definitely impressed based on my experiences so far
Put a bit of copper pipe, a bit of 2″x1″ wood and the ‘live’ cable from an extension lead behind a bit of plasterboard. It found all of them and pointed exactly at the centre of the wood. I really did not expect such good results from a scanner at this price point.

TV mounted on stud wall
My partner wanted a TV mounted on the wall facing the headboard in our bedroom. The wall in question was a stud wall, not solid block. I had difficulty in locating the wooden studs, so bought this stud wall finder to solve the problem. The device was simple to use and detected the vertical timbers behind the plaster with pin point accuracy. I was able to mount the TV bracket once I knew where the studs were. My partner is happy watching TV and I am happy with my buy – a great purchase.
Fantastic stud finde
It not only gave you the centre (no having to mark the edges and work out the centre) but it was constantly checking for live power cables as well (make sure everything is switched on) warning you about nearby cables when you were looking for studs. Fantastic. Tony
Unbelievable Value
When I purchased this item I thought that for the price, I was paying, I would be happy if it carried out the job I was buying it for.
Was I surprised when it turned up !!!!!! It’s a robust tool that can handle the knocks as well as similar products for 5 times the price.
It is very accurate in a four modes of operation and the added visual “Center” indicator makes life so much easier.
This tool is a welcome addition to my toolbox and I have no problem recommending it both the professional and the DIY’r.
The goods were delivered on time and well packaged.
Item arrived very quickly. I was impressed with how easy it was to use/calibrate. I needed this to drill into plasterboard with electrical trunking in close proximity. Much better than cheaper products I’ve seen. Can thoroughly recommend.

DIY family tool
It is a really handy tool that has a lot of useful functions in household. It is risky to drill holes on a hollow wall where you want to hang a heavy TV for entrainment, I knew I should get a smart tool to help me out. After a litter research in Amazon, I finally found this tool stood out. I got it on the following day even I don’t have a Prime account, I am not regret to order the tool, it does the job as expected, now the TV is hanged on the wall safely.

There were a few things that bothered me, one is the shape of it. It really needs to have at least one straight side so that you can run a sprit level along side it.
There is a handy grove top and bottom to help ideifty centre , so any mark you make can be in line but this wasn’t flush with the wall surface so introduced parallax error when marking the wall with a pencil.
It’s sensitivity also took a bit of getting used to. If your fingers are too near the wall then they produce false readsings.
I tested it on my table top first. So I could see the and feel where the beams of wood were under the table top. Once I valerbrated it I found it worked really well.

Originally bought this for mounting a tv. I have very soft plasterboard walls (new build good for warmth crap for everything else).
Now i can confidently mount a tv without fear of electrocution or the tv and plaster ripping off the wall. Even tells you the edges of the studs and the dead centre. Paid around 23 quid for it.
simple and reliable
wanted a tool like this for a long time so finally took the plunge. pleased at how simple it is to use and after 10 minutes testing am confident to use on a variety of jobs around the house.
Good construction, easy instructions. I would personally add how the AC detection works, because I either have really weird lighting around a wall switch, or the detection method is very wide. Either way it’s obviously playing on the safe side.

Prompt delivery and an excellent item. Calibration is easy and you simply move the scanner across the wall you wish to hang something up with / fix something to in order to identify a stud or avoid a mains wire. A battery and instructions come with the device (hence it is ready to go straight away). The marker on the top of the device help with centering your entry point for a nail/bolt/drill. The buzzer which indicates you are in the right position is a bit loud so my only feedback is to make this a bit quieter or even have a volume button or option on a menu to reduce the volume for the next edition, but otherwise it is an excellent and easy to use product.

Great service and a very useful tool. Arrived with a battery, so I was able to use it right away. With just 2 buttons it’s very easy to switch between the functions & to scan. I now have securely hanging mirror and 3 pictures. Highly recommended.

using the “knock test” but couldn’t be sure exacally where the studs
were. While this device took a few goes to get right (I was moving it
across the wall too fast, I also found it more reliable if I kept it in
contact with the wall after calibrating it). I’m now comfortable that I
have located the studs.
The electric wire detector seems a little bit too sensitive to pinpoint
the exact location of the wires (identified wires within about 10 cm)
but it does give you piece of mind that there are none nearby.

Tavool Stud wall scanne
Only recently ordered this scanner, and it arrived very quickly. First impression is that it is well made. Initial testing shows that it is very sensitive and appears pretty accurate. This is the updated version which does away with the necessity of constantly pressing the side scan button. A good improvement. I have used other wall scanners in the past but this model appears more accurate. Should make future DIY a bit safer.

I tested this through wooden surfaces and it accurately picked up the presence of metal objects and electrical wires. This seems like a very sensible purchase given the much greater cost of hitting a pipe or wire

Easy to use
Straight forward to use. Press the mode button, then calibrate against the surface being measured. Slowly move it across and it picks up the wooden beams (or whatever else you are looking for). It also picked up that there was an AC cable alongside one of the beams. I’ve not investigated any further to see if it was a false reading or not, but this gave a good head’s up to do a more thorough check for cables before drilling.
So far this has proved to be a most useful tool. I’ve not used all of its functions yet but those I have used – stud finder and A/C cable locator – have worked extremely well.

Nice simple controls and bright screen.
I was impressed with the sensitivity for a relatively inexpensive device. As long as you press the side button and allow it to calibrate in the area of use it can detect moderately deep-set items. As well as in buildings, I used it in a large boat with all power turned off, and it was able to locate a bundle of copper cables hidden in plastic trunking.
Really pleased with this product – it has already been a huge benefit in locating hidden wires and pipes. It has also been really useful in locating the centre of joists to allow us to accurately put up some new light fittings. Well worth the money and as well as everything else has offered huge peace of mind!

I received my Tavool stud finder 4 in 1 calibrated it and checked out cables pipes and stud work where I knew they were and it picked them all up very pleased with the item
Needed to hang a heavy TV and bracket on a plasterboard wall, so it was critical to locate studs. The previous occupant was a bit of a bodger, so there was no rhyme or reason to the stud pattern. This bit of kit
enabled me to easily and accurately map the studs, even pointing out the centres of each. Very satisfied with the product. I appreciate that technology moved on but as a senior citizen I’ve used a number of these over the years and this is easily the best.
This arrived on time and I am more than impressed with this scanner. I have used very expensive, so called top of the range metal, wood and voltage scanners at work. This one at a fraction of the price surpassed those. Within 5 minutes I had it calabrated and working. Tested on known wiring and joist locations, found them all very accurately. Also located a cable I wasn’t aware of. Very happy and confident with this device. It can’t tell you where to drill, but does tell you where not to.
I purchased this detector as the one I already had seemed to be throwing up false detections where I knew there were AC wires. This arrived quickly and worked a treat when I figured out how to calibrate the device. I can safely say I’ll be throwing my older detector in the bin. Great stuff
