Recieved item today, bought as currently decorating living room and going to put TV onto a wall bracket. Really easy to get started instruction are in plain English, battery in good to go just remember you need to calibrate before you scan, good quality and very accurate as good as more expensive ones there are. Brilliant addition to my toolbox.
Wish I had discovered this product years ago. I used it today to locate the wall studs when fixing a TV bracket.
It made the job so simple. The large TV needed a strong and secure fastening so finding the stud centres was essential. Similar tasks in the future will be much easier to complete.
Easy to use and does what it says - what more do you need
This is a brilliant tool and definitely saves you making any mistakes. With so many different wall types in my house I found this has helped me get it right every time. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and it gets it right every time. Would definitely recommend
Very accurate stud and wire detecto
Better than other brands I have used. Found studs, metal and electrical wires better than my old device did. Required a bit of reading the instructions to understand exactly how this model works. Felt very comfortable when drilling into walls after checking with this device.
Great device
It only arrived this afternoon but has already been put to great use. I was struggling to find a batten to attach a TV mount to but this device made it so easy. After a few test runs to make sure I’d gotten my head around how it worked/registered ‘finds’ and having practiced on an exposed piece of wall it was off to the area of interest. The device found the battens at the first attempt, a quick double check it wasn’t anything metal or wiring, and it was out with the drill. It couldn’t have been any simpler – a must have for all budding DIYers!

Needing to screw down 5 rooms worth of floor boards I needed to check the position of the joists but more importantly any pipes and cables. I was nervous about relying on any scanner after reading a number of reviews on this type of equipment. But so far so good, it did what it says it does and yes it did pick up a pipe that shouldn’t have been there and saved me from screwing straight through. Take your time when calibrating but other than that no issues with it, only 1 more room to go so fingers crossed and hence the four stars for accuracy not five, trying not to tempt fate……..
Fantastic for the price.
Accuracy isn’t 100% but accurate enough to avoid hitting wires or pipes. AC scanner starts to detect wires within 2 inches but can get the centre point there or thereabouts.
I found setting it to metal mode was easier for thick plasterboard walls by detecting the central stud on the wooden joists.

The TH250 detects timber and metal studs, metal pipes, rebar etc and electric cables.
A few observations may be helpful when using it as follows:-

I’m on my 3rd stud finder. As others are flimsy and break being transported around job to job. This is by far the best I’ve had.

Screws will damage planer blades very easily and are not always easy to spot as you will see from the video.

Nice and simple method of discovering what’s behind plaster board
Bought this as we are moving to a new house and the location of pipes and wires are all unknown. Works straight out of the box. The stud finder is the easiest to use as it guides you left and right. The metal finder also alerts you to electrical wiring. Supplied with a battery and easy to follow instructions.
A very handy gadge
This Wall Stud Finder gives me peace of mind when tackling DIY jobs around the house. The device is very responsive in all modes. My dislike is that the position of the scan button makes it easy to keep pressing it while actually scanning. Other than that I can find no faults with this device.
Really useful for a newbie like me!
From a newbie perspective this is a good detector. I’ve successfully installed a curtain track in my ceiling safely with the help of this.
I practiced using this tool next to a plug socket to get a feel for how it worked (because plugs and their wiring are usually installed next to studs) and after getting a feel for it then used it on my ceiling to find where it was safe to drill.
If you’re into home DIY and want some confidence before drilling into your walls this is a bit of kit to have in your toolbox.

It wasn’t easy but soon I realised that if I followed the instruction carefully, it worked like a magic. Great. 100% accurate? I am not sure but I will trust it 70% which will give me enough confidence and help when drilling through walls. Bottom line is that a great value, down to earth device , which works.

For the price it works well
Its a handy tool especially for finding stud walling support for making sure you are fixing into a solid part of dry walling. The electrical symbol comes up whatever mode you are working in, it says it flashes if it detects a open cable, I haven’t seen it flashing yet but may be I haven’t had any electrical cables near where I have used used it.

Really great tool, been using it to locate joists in the floor and where wiring and pipes are.
Even though my floorboarda are marked I
hacked anyway and its been accurate.
Love the center display so I know exactly where to place my screws.
As its my first time doing something like this its given me lots of confidence that I won’t mess this up and go through a wire or pipe.
Easy to set up and accurate
Very prompt delivery from the seller and I had this set up within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box. Tested first on studwork as recommended and chose an area where I knew studs would be found – 100 pct accuracy. Also tested on cabling and pipework and it found them straight away. Great price for an accurate bit of kit which now takes away the worry of drilling through pipework or cables (and yes, I have drilled through a water pipe before – a lot more expensive than buying one of these !!). Recommended.
Very effective device
I was very sceptical about the performance of this detector due to its low cost. Thank goodness I had not offered to show my backside in a supermarket window if i was proved wrong. I tested the 3 different scanning modes on a wall where i knew the position of studs, cables and copper pipe. It detected them all with perfect accuracy first time. I only wish that I had owned this detector many years ago…..the number of cables and pipes I have damaged has cost me dearly!
Excellent accurate and easy to use
This is an excellent piece of kit. I purchased it particularly to detect wiring. We have had our kitchen stripped out, plastered and completely rewired
I wanted to put a knife rack on the wall and needed to drill several holes near sockets. This device is absolutely brilliant. I had no problem detecting the wiring.
I have also tested this on a stud wall and it worked really well on wood and studs.

I recently move into a 100 year old house which was in need of renovation. As you can imagine tracing the wiring and batons was a problem.
I came across the Tavool 4 in 1 stud finder on the Amazon site and what a saviour it was. Simple to use, 5 star product at 4 star price. Highly recommended this product for time saving and piece of mind.

Simple to use wall scanne
I bought this wall scanner mainly to find AC wires in walls to prevent me drilling into them by accident. It’s a simple to use scanner with several different modes, but remember to calibrate it before each use. Display is easy to read and includes warning sounds. A bonus is it includes the battery.
A great tool
Only received this today and already used a couple of times to put up some shelves.
Purchased due to lining in a timber framed house with all plasterboard walls and wanted to pick up on some stud work for fixings. just a couple of minutes out of the box and was looking studs. Simple to use.

Stunningly accurate
I have just started using this device and really stunned by the accuracy of finding studs. Not used it for any other searches yet but sure it will be as accurate. Highly recommend.
Works OK for the price
It does okay. I have missed a couple beams using this but generally it is correct 80% of the time.
Only senses one thing at a time
It does wood, electricity and metal but only one at a time so you have to do multiple scans to be absolutely sure there is nothing behind the wall. But overall it works well and is great value for money
New Tavool Stud Finde
I must say this is a great addition to the tool box. Its easy to operate and was accurate when put to use. Its a good size and lightweight without the feeling of compromise. It comes with a battery and operating instructions, so you are ready to go straight away. Having used it a few times now, I would say that I am happy with my purchase.

System takes a little while to scroll through options, however still quick
We have a room that has significant wiring in the walls, which was put in prior to us moving in. We had a previus wire detector, but this was poor, as the walls are quite thick. hence the reason for buying equipment.
I have literally just received this and it worked great. identified all the options with ease and we now know what is below.

Re-calibrate each time for accurate results.
I have some complex walls with double plasterboard, metal stud frames and wooden frames with lots of electrical sockets. I’m not convinced it always picks up the electric but knows something is there so alerts me. Got it correct with wood and metal when putting up a curtain pole. Overall good purchase and usable out the box. Remember to calibrate each time before use.

Worth every penny
This is my 2nd scanner (1st lasted 6 years before playing up) but this 1 is much better. Its easy to use and the instructions are clear a not long winded. I’ve used it now on 4 jobs (DIY) and used all 3 modes (stud, metal and cable) and it very accurate and easy to read. would recommend.
Cheap, accurate and simple to use!
Great bit of equipment for a fraction of the price of some of the regular brands we know of. Can detect metal and wooden studs which I’m primarily using it for. Not sure what the triangle electrical sign is coming on for? Easy to use and definitely handy if you’re thinking of putting up frames, shelves etc. Make sure to read info which comes with it to understand how to calibrate and read the signals. Battery was included too

Handy, easy, accurate and value for money.
I had this stud finder for quite some time now. It has been very handy and useful throughout by DIY projects. It detects studs, metal and ac wires quite accurately so far. The only shortcoming I noticed so far is, sometimes the detector needs re calibrate once it detects the ac live wire as it keeps getting the strongest signal even at the place where there is no live wires. So double calibrate is always recommended.
Staight out of the box this gadget saved me from drilling through a live wire to fix a new cooker hood to the wall. I had no idea that an electric connection is running across that wall. Finding studs and metal pipes are also easy and accurate. Don’t forget to calibrate it on every new surface. The instructions manual is in plain English and really easy to follow and remember. Nothing complicated to go through. Really easy to use. Works better than expensive scanners as per their reviews. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommended specially for DIYers.

I needed a tool to be sure of where there was a wire in my wall. This tool quickly and accurately located it so that I didn’t electrocute myself.

Great bit of kit. Already helped me put up several things, really needed as new house is all stud walls!!! Sometimes don’t get accurate reading but I’m not sure if that’s due to the way I’m using it. Light, fairly compact easy to use piece of kit.
I usually use the “tap on the wall” method to find the wooden studs behind the plasterboard, but I have missed on occasion. This time I decided to splash out as I was putting a TV bracket on the wall and it really has to be in the center of the wooden stud for strength. This unit does look similar to others, but I found this one worked perfectly for me. If you look at my photos, you can see that as you move the unit from side to side across the wall, the unit identifies the center of the stud. (Yes I did it before putting up, but just showing where I located the bolts is inline with where the unit is saying is center of the stud). I also checked either side by placing a small hole left and right about 1/2inch to confirm still in stud.
It is important to press the button on the side to calibrate the machine (while on plasterboard) just before looking for the stud so machine can work correctly.
I have not used to find electric cables or other, but it worked great for my application.

Was looking for a cost-effective stud wall detector as my daughter had just moved into an old flat that had been extensively reconfigured in the past and she was uncertain as to where she could fix a tall display cabinet safely (the floors are a bit off-level and the cabinet would not stand safely on its own). Follow the instructions on calibrating etc. and check a couple of times to confirm before proceeding with drilling etc. Would highly recommend this product.
Good product at a great price
Works well – does everything it is meant to do and with ease, once you’ve learned how to use it. Fortunately the instructions are clear.
Good value and accurate
Great value for money. Instructions can take some reading but it becomes quite intuitive after a while. I have tested this out where i know there are pipes behid a wall and it gives an accurate reading.
Surprisingly easy to use
Originally, I really wanted to buy a Bosch detector, because all my tools are Bosch, but I am happy that I bought this for a quarter of that price.
My ceiling has 12mmm insulation + 12mm plasterboard + skimming. A total of 30mm.
I tested it on the Deep Wood settings and it had no problem finding the stud behind it.
Conventionally, you find the stud by finding the location of many scattered screws with a powerful magnet.
However, I like in this device that it finds the centre of the stud with more accuracy than the old-school magnet method. Also, it does it in a fraction of the time.
I am pleased with the buying.
Invaluable tool
I bought this after reading the numerous positive reviews and am happy to report that it is an absolute joy to use.
I bought it to check electrical wires before drilling holes into the wall for a series of shelving units (see photo) and am glad I used it as there were a few spots that the device alerted me. Hence I find this device invaluable and would highly recommend if you want your DIY project to be safe.
Instructions were clear and once you get the hang of using it and calibrating it, it will then become a breeze to use. The only thing I would point out is that it feels a bit too plastic-key, other than that it works wonders.

The reason I bought this particular stud finder was it had everything in one unit to avoid drilling through pipes and cables, it will search for deep stuff and metal as well as automatically telling you electricity is present,
This one is the best one I’ve used and I have used a few. 10/10 tavool 4 in 1 stud finder

Can’t vouch for stud functionality as I did not buy for that purpose, but seemed to work correctly during calibration.

Easy to use
I had to find cables and studding. It worked well for both. The display is laid out well and easy to understand. It looks good and feels comfortable to use. It was also a good price as well

I ordered the Tavool Stud finder for use in a new build school of which I am the caretaker. There will be a fair amount of shelving and notice boards to be put up and I need to find the supports for these. Not having ever used one before, I felt I needed one that was easy to use and economical. Reading other reviews on Amazon helped a lot in my decision. I have used the Stud Finder quite a lot in the short time I have had it and have found it to be one of the most useful items in my toolbox. It does exactly what it says it will do.

It doesn’t specify live or not and on regular stud setting it does not find anything when set to deep it works fine. And you must position your fingers on the side not on the wall or you just get false readings. it’s easy simple enough not bad at all for the money. I’ve just bought a cottage in Ireland and if has a new wing needing some improvements. Thus the reason for buying. It has found every stud position and noggin with relative ease. Incredible value for money!
I have always wanted one of these finder tools and finally got around to purchasing one. This tool is nothing short of amazing. Tested it on known locations for metal, wood beams and electrical wires and it picked them all up. Very accurate and has a really good centre locator function when looking for wood beams.
Instructions are easy to follow.

Easy to use once I got the hang of it! Included Instructions were harder to follow but much clearer online on amazon. Highly recommend!

Once I had deciphered the instructions it was not as complicated as at first seemed. Occasionally I get slightly different readings but just have to repeat the process. Very good value for money.

Bought this even though I own a similar Bosch product because I wanted one with a visual indicator which after having owned a couple of different detectors I find this indicator is far more accurate, it does a great job simple and effective please read the instructions carefully to understand the full use of this product but its a great addition to my tools and also at half the price and more of some well known branded products

Although it takes a bit of getting used to, the accuracy seems excellent, particularly if you follow the instructions and recalibrate the sensitivity several times. Of course the detector can’t differentiate between copper water pipes and metal studwork, but this recalibrating allows you to determine with good accuracy the width of the metal detected, and so it is then easy to work out whether you’ve detected a water pipe or something wider. Drilling in to a metal stud can provide a good anchor, not so good if you drill in to a water pipe!
I haven’t used it to detect timber studs yet, but I have no doubt it will be equally accurate and easy to use.

Just got it out the box and put it into practise before I move house and the DIY starts next week. Very good value for money and good quality product.
Something not quite right (resolved)
Purchased this to try and find the joists in the ceiling. The instructions were not very good and so had to look online for a video tutorial. However, I can’t seem to get it to work accurately and consistently.
Update 20/12 the customer service team reached out and we were able to resolve the situation amicably. Good response from the team! upgraded my rating from 2 to 5 stars. I hope all customer service teams respond like this.
Tavool stud detector works and is easy to use.
Purchased the Tavool stud detector to help install some heavy mirrors in my sons new house. In stud detection mode, the detector identified there were no batons behind the plasterboard. Drilling the holes for fixings indicated the board had been fixed to the block wall using “dot & dab” .
I also used the detector to look for pipes and electric cables under the upstairs floor, in order fix a floor mounted safe. The detector said there were none, and no issues arose.
Just what I needed
Great product for the price. I was looking for some items to find out what’s below our creaky subfloorboards. Joists, cables, etc. This item does the job for all of them. Only used in one job so far, but seems to do what it says!
A very accurate job
Got on really well with this product. I had one issue with a wall that said it had AC all the way through it, but I don’t think that was the devices issue. Worked a charm in every other wall.

Excellant tool, very reassuring.
Had a wall I wanted to hang a shelf on. Used to have a storage heater at the base so I wasn’t sure what was still left inside the wall. Used the stud finder to find the best spot to hang and was sure I wasn’t going to be drilling into any electrics or water. Very happy with product!
Tavool Stud Finde
I purchased the Stud Finder as I was fitting book shelves to a wall. I’ve never used one before but the Tavool Stud Finder was really easy to use. Just install the battery that’s provided and you’re ready to go. Several settings to choose, I needed the one for electric cables. I am really impressed and pleased with the tool and would definitely recommend it.
A good gadget to have in your toolbox
I have recently had my entire house refurbished, so I have photos of all the stud walls during construction, and I have a good idea of where the studs are. I bought this anyway to make sure I could find the exact location of studs when hanging heavy items off a wall. It seems to work well, and also can find electrical wires which is a bonus. If you have stud walls with ply in between the studs and the drywall you need to set it to deep mode, or it won’t find the studs. A good gadget to have in the toolbox.
Only pick signal of live AC cables so it worth switching all the plugs on in within area.
Easy to use once you get familiar with the instructions provided but it worth to calibrate using a live cable for AC for reference to get you started. It’s very accurate when come to plaster board partitioning, studs and metals.

I used this in my bathroom and found it so easy to use. I found out there was an electric cable I wasn’t aware of when hanging a mirror.

Very easy to use, set it stud finder , placed it on my hand and it confirmed what I thought I was a stud, 21 well spent in my view I’ve had doubts for a few years now and this machine has quashed them.
Just read the other reviews and realised this machine is for DIY and not testing sexual powers! It’s also very good for that I ain’t drilled through any electric cables yet using this highly recommended
