I just cant live without an airfrye
after my last air fryer died, I to live without one and it is impossible. My first one was Tefal and it lasted years, but was very big. The next one was not Tefal and only lasted a couple of years, but was a better size. so have gone back to Tefal and a smaller taller version. fits in the my small kitchen really well. and has so far cooked everything really well. it is also very easy to clean, so really pleased with my purchase.

    Easy to use.
Looked at various air fryers. After finding this one and viewed various reviews I purchased this one. Found it easy to use and most importantly easy to clean. Follow instructions for various recipes and you can’t go wrong. It is a bit bulky but that is an advantage for putting in a reasonable amount of food in to cook.

Does what it says on the tin.
Simple to use, easy to clean but for me not enough space to cook things.

Used this twice and I LOVE it! Only got it yesterday but I should imagine I’m probably going to use it for everything now
    Cleaning is simple
Be aware that’s it’s quite big and will take up allot of counter space.
Still yet to figure out what all the buttons do

Good item but shame it doesn’t have a stirer or retractable paddle.
Got mine today and tried some frozen fries in it. Overall I’m pleased with the product and it took half the time that the oven usually takes. I made the mistake of not checking the fries at the 10 minute mark; half way through, as after 20 minutes some fries were quite under done whilst others were very well done! I feel that a retractable paddle would be a significant benefit when cooking fries or chips so that it ensures an even cook. Next time I will have to make sure that I go out shake the basket half way through. I would still recommend this product but in honesty would look for one with a stirer or retractable paddle. The basket is quite a size and the menu is simple and easy to follow.

Excellent product at a touch of a button, a healthy alternative to fry food drenched in oil, cooking temperature will need be adjusted as the heating element sits right under the food. Food comes out delish

    Not bad, not the best.
So easy to use, does take a lot longer cook. It doesnt always cook the chicken al the way through and end up burning the outside with the inside still raw??? Regardless, still a great product especially to switch from fried food!

    Ease of use
Having had air fryers in the past this particular make is definitely the best yet. I like the automatic settings for a variety of foods. The generous size of the cooking bowl and the fact that it is so easy to keep clean. Also the reasonable price
    makes it a worthwhile purchase.

It is in the top 10 if not the best purchase I ever had in Amazon.
I am very satisfied with this product. I first purchased a chipper brand (half the price) but it arrived faultily. Then bought this one and it looks nice and cooks greatly. Definitely recommend it.

I have now bought a few of this exact air fryer – all have been great. Cooks whatever you want really with ease. Hopefully it’ll be a long-term addition and won’t break soon, but I’ve had it for about 2 months now.

    Easy clean frying
We had an opportunity to try an air fryer and found it very simple to fry chips and fish among other things. It is great because it does not generate a lot of fat fumes (which always make me cough), no grease on the cupboards and easy to use.

Because it uses hot air, it is very clean and the none stick basket is easy to clean after use. We like the touch screen on the top to select the menu, with facilities to change time and temperature. Great for ALL our frying needs with minimal mess!

    Beter Than a ActiFrye
Found this much better than a Actifryer , Easy to clean, Quick and the auto stop makes life much easier. The one downside I found is you have to keep turning the chips or the ones at the top brown more but on the plus side this does not smash the food up like some times happens in the Actifryer.

Dissatisfied with what should be a good produc
Very disappointed by this. Chips are terrible, I’ve gone back to my old fryer, muffins no good. Onion rings not the same.
I’ve looked at YouTube recipes and online.
    Probably won’t use again.

The air fryer works well but be careful if it starts making a rattling noise. A ratting noise started and after some more use two boltnuts dropped into my food. My replacement works well but just be careful if you hear a rattling noise.

    Worth buying
Hi, I used to work in Lakeland in Windermere which has very high standard s and also have had an air fryer which I purchased on reviews. So I’m very happy to recommend this air fryer as, it’s sleak, cooks faster than my previous one, easier to clean and the food comes out crisp and we’ll cooked. I don’t review unless it’s worth my time. Enjoy

Easy to use, it is big and difficult to clean in a small sink, but after these amazing chicken wings I dont really mind! Take a fair but of space on the counter. It’s the 1st airfryer I’ve had and I am definitely glad I purchased. It’s quite non stick so easy enough to clean.

A must have in the kitche
This is a daily essential now, we use this more than the oven. It’s versatile in the fact that you can cook a wide variety of food.

The downside is the touch panel which could have been fully tactile.

It’s ok- not as good as the more expensive Phillips
Easy to use, but the instructions on cooking times are pretty limited- have just worked it out by trial and error.
Will cope with 3-4 breaded fish or chicken, but homemade chips are hit or miss- sometimes it only cooks half of them, and those underneath still raw. Have ended up doing 2 small batches rather than one large- disappointing, since this was the main reason for buying

    Frozen food cooked easily
We like this as no excess oil is used. Chips are better if the potato is micro-waved earlier, then One-Cal coating into the air frier. 20 minutes later they are brown, crispy and fluffy in the centre. Not micro-waved forget the fluffy bit.

Not as good as the larger versions with an inner paddle. Difficult to ensure a full serving are all cooked through as tricky to shake evenly

    Easy to use, very effective
Really happy with this product, had a tefal actifry before, will never go back as this is so much better, doesn’t mash up the food and apart from remembering to shake food half way through or turn over it’s very effective. I am still experimenting but have already cooked more variety than my old actifry.

Much better than the unknown brands
We previously had a Von Haus air fryer. The air frying concept is great! But this model did not have proper non-stick coating so was hard to clean and the non-stick coating was starting to come off. The fan motor also was sounding like it’s going to die!

The Tefal is built a lot better and proper non stick coating – not surprising as it is Tefal!

It is easier to use than previous air fryer. This one is more impressive than last : )

Before, I always hesitated on whether I should get an air fryer because the price was quite high for something that is only replacing a traditional fryer however I’m really glad I got this as it can do so much more than just make chips. With this I can just throw in some marinated chicken wings/drumstick or pork belly and in 25-30 minutes it’ll be done. Using an oven you would have to mess around with pre-heating it and then the cooking time would also be over an hour which seems like so much of a hassle now. I have also made potato pancakes and roasted peanuts in it, and there are so many air fryer recipes online.

Now for the down side, I feel that there is 3 minor inconveniences. First, the crevices on the side of the cooking tray can be a bit difficult to clean sometimes, but I now just line the bottom with parchment paper or foil for easy cleaning and less mess. Secondly, the heat is coming from the top of the air fryer, so you will need to flip the food or shake the pan at appropriate intervals to ensure even browning and good colour on both sides. Thirdly, if you are cooking a large batch of food its inconvenient to use this, as the tray is small so you will have to do several rounds of cooking. You cannot just layer the food as the heat comes from the top so anything at the bottom won’t cook.

I would recommend this to people who live alone or have small families because one of its biggest selling point for me is how efficient it is compared to using an oven or fryer, but it loses this if you need to make a lot of food at one time. Overall, its a really handy kitchen appliance to have and is also better for your health because you’re eating less oil.

    Great for Frozen Chips
We haven’t used it for much yet but it is excellent for frozen chips. Faster than the oven and cooks evenly as long as you give them a good shake every few minutes. More often than half way through is essential. Cooking for a bit longer than the programmed 15 minutes is better.
Very quick to clean. Cooking whole chickens and other food is yet to be tried.

    No internal basket.
The unit does not have an internal basket like others I’ve used. Instead has a trivet that food sits on.
Problem is when tipping food out the trivet comes out too. As does any residual oil that may be in the unit.
The only way around this is to use a spoon or tongues to get food out.
Which is a nuisance when cooking fries.

Golden Review Award: 95 From Our UsersSome odd design decisions but great for a much larger basket.
We’ve had our last air fryer, a Philips 9220, for about 8 years and it was getting a little small now our family has grown so I bought this Tefal XL on a daily deal for 69.99 in the hunt for a bigger cooking area. It’s working really well, I’ve included some side by side photos to help visualise it because I wasn’t sure if it would fit under our kitchen counter with the biggest basket, however the unit manages to fit a much larger basket in a very similar volume, and it’s short enough that the top mounted buttons are still fully accessible. There’s a few odd quirks that will take some getting used to, the max fill line is not naturally placed opposite the handle for easy viewing, but is awkwardly placed on the rear of the handle position, it’s a strange decision, it would be so much easier to read if it was on the far side of the basket. Secondly, unlike our Philips model the basket here is not removable, and if you try to use it to tip the contents onto a plate when pouring chips the nthe raised bed has a tendency to drop. You definitely couldn’t even try to pour out anything that would have dripped fat, because the fat would run over your plate – this is going to take some getting used and is less convenient than having a separate basket, which was a superior decision decision. The heating element is a similarly rating to the Philips but seems to cook quicker, maybe the fan speed is different or there element is just better with less wear (I didn’t realise how disgusting our old fan assembly was until I took these photos – sorry!). The quality of the non stick seems fantastic, I’ve included a picture showing some fish fingers and potato shapes in the basket, cooked, and then immediately having lifted them out – on the wire basket the fish fingers would normally have stuck and lost some coating but on this one they lifted off neatly. Quite pleased with the value so far. We’ve not tested the claim to be able to roast a full chicken yet, but we definitely will do soon.

    Literally transformed our kitche
This is our second airfryer after our 4 years old actifry gave up. Airfryer has becomes the most important gadget in our kitchen, getting used once or twice every day. The ability to control then temperature on the newer models including the Easy Fry is fantastic as we can now use it for baking too. This model also seem to be quicker than our old one, perhaps due do the air circulation. Highly recommended.

Nice, works well, needs trial and error at firs
I’ve used this a few times now and it’s great. Used for frozen chips and home made wedges and both have come out crispy and pretty evenly cooked. Much quicker and consistent than in my fan oven.
Shaking every 5 mins is a must but it has a timer to remind you and cos it’s so quick (frozen chips in as little as 12-15 mins) it isn’t an inconvenience.
Play around with different times and heat settings to get the result you like. I’m really pleased with this.
If you’re not getting good results then maybe it’s how you’re doing it rather than the fryer. My first couple of tries weren’t perfect so I changed the heat setting and the amount of times I shook them and now I get good results all of the time.
    Would recommend

Be careful, I think it actually operates a temperature closer to that found on the surface of the sun. You’ll need to shake often and reduce what temp you think you need to cook by around 20C. We got this Tefal Air fryer the other day after waiting a little while for delivery and I must say, what a great piece of kit.

We’ve only cooked a few things in it but its really easy to use and clean. The programme functions are good, giving plenty of variety to how you can cook food. This is a life saver when cooking quick meals like chicken nuggets, potato waffles, chips and other frozen bits, often cooking them in half the normal time. You also get a really crispy and crunchy finish too. The claim of getting a whole chicken in is debatable, it would have to be a small chicken.

The build quality seems good but it is larger than I thought it was going to be.

Overall this is a brilliant addition to a kitchen, I would definitely recommend it.

Easy to use and clean and much quicker than oven, (I could have finished cooking something with this in time it takes the oven to warm up!) Only negative point is no cooking guide included so still experimenting with how long things need to be cooked for in this. Flavour of food is ever so slightly different but much healthier as no grease/oil.

This is my first air fryer and I am just loving it. The food is so light and yet retains its flavour. I don’t think I will be going back to having oil fried food too much. My kids love it too and they couldn’t tell the difference. The fryer is very easy to use and the recipe app is absolutely fab and easy to follow. The only downside I have noticed is that it is not that easy to clean especially if you put marinade chicken in, but still you get around it eventually. Will update my review if there is any change!

A good addition to the kitchen for quick cooking
When I received this, I wondered if it would be yet another gadget taking up space in the kitchen. I’ve never had an air fryer before but I was actually blown away by how useful it is. I’ve used it for heating up food, making homemade and frozen chips, waffles, sweet potato fries, quorn bites and things like that. It takes some getting used to as it’s very quick and you can find your food gets cooked or dried up if you are not too careful. It saves having to put the oven on each time as well if you are cooking a quick meal or a small amount.

There’s a lot to read about how to get the best out of it — hints, tips and recipes. There are lots of options on what to cook, temperature settings, the right amount of food to be cooked for best results and so on. Once you get used to it, it is simply a case of filling the basket, pressing the button or adjusting temperatures and times, and leaving to cook. There are several preset options for things like chips, chicken and pizza, so you don’t have to do much adjusting. I’ve bunged veggie sausages in here, too, and they have come out fine.

I made some sweet potato fries sprinkled with Cajun seasoning, however, the seasoning ended up in the bottom of the fryer, so I had to clean this out. Maybe best to add such seasonings at the end to avoid a mess.

To watch out for: the fryer is really big, imagine a breadmaker size, so it does take up room. Also, the surface you put it on will heat up so be careful about where you place it. It can be hot to the touch, particularly the basket when you take it out, so you need to be very careful! The basket and grid can be put in the dishwasher so it’s really easy to clean. If you cook frozen food a lot then I think it’s so useful, and especially if you have a big family and a small oven!

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersTefal EY401840 Air Fryer "Works well and roast a whole chicken!!"
I had headache reading through numerous reviews, I brought this to reduce the need to deep-frying while at home in the COVID crisis. I am completely happy. We are a family of 5 and 1 toddler. And it works out perfectly. The display is bright and easy to read. It fits a whole chicken. A decent amount of chips or wedges (700-800grams) and it can even be used to do shortbread biscuits. According to British Gas, it’s 26p per hour on electricity based on a 50min cook on a whole chicken. Note if doing whole chicken start upside down for 30mins and 20-30mins on the other side. Came out soft inside (juicy) cooked and a nice crisp on the outside. I basted a bbq glaze and did a further 3 mins to caramelize.

I would have liked to go for the stainless steel version if I upgraded but so far so good. There are plenty of cooking ideas online, YouTube, etc so you can get creative. Also, chips and wedges were evenly cooked (I set an alarm on it for 5mins) so I could shake it.

Since we got it we haven’t used a pan to fry!! Kids have not noticed the difference of those potato crisps and the deep-fried ones.
It creates healthier meals. You do not need to use much (or any) oil in these appliances to get your food crispy and browned! Quicker, More Efficient Cooking. It takes just minutes to preheat, and most of the heat stays inside the appliance. That makes the food ready super quickly !!

Very happy with this purchase. Had it for 3 months and waited before writing a review.

    1. People have complained the LCD is difficult to read. I have never had ANY issues reading the display. Ever. Those who do may wish to see an optician.

    2. Very easy to clean. Damp cloth for the drawer, the grill comes out and can be fully washed in the sink. Not sure about dishwasher.

    3. Toss your chips every 5 minutes to ensure they’re even.

This is my first air fryer so cannot compare it to others but it’s so easy to use. Cooks food quickly. Great for fries, frozen food items such as hash browns, mini samosa , meat/Quorn , and do not need to add any oil.

Use it almost daily and so far love it. Use it more often than my oven now .

    A Great Air Frye
So far so good since purchasing this. Very easy to use and clean, makes my food especially chips, nice and crispy.

I regularly make quick meals, like sweet potato fries, fish cakes, fish, pasties etc. And there is no doubt it makes my life easier and more delicious. It’s a bit loud, but saves you from using your oven. Price is not walletbusting and it’s digital, so worth taking a chance.

I can’t say anything wrong about this air fryer . It’s best for making bacon and sausages. And the chips are tasty even though you only use small amount of oil . The best part is the cleaning – very easy just take the little tray out and wash it in the sink. Another thing i like about it is it doesn’t make your kitchen smell like a fry for weeks when you use this like it would normally if you make your fry on the pan . Overall it’s a very handy thing and I will definitely recommend

Having bought as a replacement for a regal air fryer with a paddle which lasted a long time. I am very pleased, easy to use, easy to clean. Cooks oven chips in 15 mins. Any excess oil drops away from the food into a drip try all Teflon coated and wipe clean.

Great (and much better than a model from another manufacturer which I used). Cooks well.
Note, there’s only one pan – any fat drips below the food onto a drip tray so take care when tipping food out to avoid the fat coming out too.
One pan means you save space in the dishwasher
    A bit noisy
    Display is a bit dim
Preset menus – I never use them
    Quite good looking and compact.

Bought one of these and was sceptical at first. So glad I did. Has a built in timer which you can set at intervals and the tray is fairly deep. I put a 1kg bag of oven chips in it and it wasnt even full. Ive roasted a chicken in it with just a bit of spray oil and spices and it was such a pleasure compaired to oven. Took 2 secs to clean the tray after. Its nice looking on the counter too. Some air fryers have times but they dont actually stop the cooking process.. this one does. Really happ.

I was looking of a healthier way of basically cooking chips (French Fries) without using a load of oil, so thought that I would give it a try. The results are excellent, with easy to follow instructions, with the machine being pre-programmed on how to cook a variety of foods. In time, I really wand to be more adventurous in what I cook, and this product seems to tick all of the right boxes. Although a bit bigger than I had anticipated (as I live on my own), I am sure that this product will serve me well in the times to come. Clear digital displays, and clearly identified controls, make this easy to use, and there are lots of videos online, should I have any problems. Would definately recommend.

I can honestly say that i no longer need a deep oil fryer. This air fryer has replaced all my past needs, with food i can enjoy knowing that its more healthy now. I especially enjoy making my golden, crispy samosas in it. The timer and temperature system is a joy to use. It has a pleasant notification sound once food is ready. The safety system is great also in that it automatically stops if you open the fryer. In terms of cleaning, it couldn’t get easier. I just place it in my dish washer every now and then. Highly recommended product.

Use the right variety of potato
Wanted this for making home made chips without using a deep fat fryer. To make home made chips from potatoes(as opposed to frozen chips) I use approximately 1kg of potatoes each time that i make chips.
    1. Peel and chip the potatoes,i use a potato chipper to get them all even.
2 Dry the chips with a t towel.
3.Put chips in a large bowl, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil,and stir round to cover all the chips.
4.Put chips in airfryer,no need to preheat.
    5. I cook on 160 for 12 minutes, stir them round half way through the cooking time, then 170 for 12 minutes and stir again as previously done, then 180 for 12 to 15 minutes, depending how crispy you want them and making sure you stir them half way through the time again.
    6. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY USE THE RIGHT VARIETY OF POTATOES,having tried and tested a few different ones the best and now the only ones i use MARIS PIPER,also make a brilliant jacket potato with this variety.
    7. No more greasy kitchen, got to be good.

I love this air fryer. Easy to use. Food tastes great. I use it mainly for roast potatoes, wedges and chips – which are crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Perfect size for a large family. My only criticism is the finish of the design around the joints – could be sleeker. Having said that, it does look good. I do place it on a heat resistant surface as I read that it heats up, however it doesn’t get too hot imo. Easy push control system with blue LED light. Highly recommended. Great buy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s not really a fryer!
First things first… if you want home made chips that are quick and easy to cook and taste like deep fried chips, go and buy a deep fat fryer!

As others have pointed out, this isn’t really a fryer, it’s a large heating element coupled to a powerful fan that blasts your food with hot air. The plus side being that this makes it a rather versatile mini oven that cooks quickly with no need to pre-heat. You will save money on electricity by using this method of cooking.

I’ve been using this for several weeks, having cooked jacket potatoes, burgers, bacon and many other frozen items. It cooks quickly and with little fuss but if you’re loading up the basket with chips, either frozen or home made, they’ll need to be shaken regularly or you’ll end up with the chips at the top burnt to a crisp and the ones underneath just a soggy mess. Unlike the Actifry system, there’s no actuator to stir the food and ensure even heat circulation.

There are many cooking options to choose from but in reality these are just different time and temperature presets. You can easily set your own times and temperatures so most of the options I don’t use.

The instruction booklet is useless, a 5 year old could have written it better!

The most surprising / impressive feature is its ability to cook dead crispy bacon.

It’s not the quietest machine in the world and while it does expel hot air, it’s not a huge issue. Cooking smells are also greatly reduced though not totally eliminated. Cooking burgers without setting the smoke alarm off is another great plus of using this machine.

If you want home made chips, it can be done but takes a bit of trial & error to get right…

Cut your chips, put them in a bowl of water and soak for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Dry your chips with kitchen towel (this stops them going soggy)
Put them back into the bowl (dry it first!) add some oil and toss the chips in the oil, ensuring all are suitably coated.
Load them into the basket, set the fryer to 150 degrees for 15 minutes, shake at 5 minute intervals.
Then set the fryer to its maximum 200 setting and cook for 15 – 20 minutes, again shake vigorously at regular intervals to ensure even heat distribution.

Sounds faffy but it’s quite easy and the results are worth it!

We had been looking at these for a while. We decided to go for the Tefal one for quality brand, easy of use and capacity. It is a great air fryer, easy to use and to keep clean. We mainly use it for chips which come out really nice with no preheating so it works out faster and more economical than using the oven (if you’re just doing the chips). If you are using the oven then this can give you extra cooking capacity if the oven is full. Chips cook in 15 minutes, chunkier home made chips can take a bit longer. Some times we coat home made chips in Nandos Peri Peri salt before cooking and the kids love them. Hash browns come out nice too in 15 minutes. It is a large appliance but we store ours in the utility room so it doesn’t take up lots of room on the kitchen side. We would highly recommend it.

Growing up in the 80s, the age of the chip pan, it’s hard to believe that any device can cook food in just a spoonful of oil. So it’s easy to say that this healthy fryer defies logic.
Cooking food is a breeze using one of the many preset options. From chicken kiev, so simply chips, the results are incredible. Cleaning is also incredible simple, as the fryer dismantles into dishwasher friendly items – also very easy to hand wash.

Easy to use with good results
This was larger than I expected and takes up a fair bit of storage space, in use it needs to be placed where the air can circulate around it and as it gets hot on a suitable surface.
The small instruction booklet it well laid out and has a cooking guide, tips and safety and cleaning instructions

Its certainly easy to use, with the touch-control panel on the top being clear and easy to use with automatic cooking modes and whilst these functions are present you can also over-ride them to suit your preferences.

My first trial was with frozen oven chips, as per the instructions, I took the basket out and gave them a shake midway through and the programme resumed when I put it back. To be honest the results were pretty good – crisp and evenly cooked, but not much different to oven chips, the one difference was the fat was collected in the bottom of the basket fryer so definitely more healthy.
I’ve since tried it for sausages and chicken – using the pre-programmed settings and both turned out really well; evenly cooked and with the fat being drained into the bottom of the basket.

    Postives:
Easy to use, drains fat when cooking

    Negatives:
    Noisy in use
Takes a lot of storage space

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood quality air fryer - flaw makes it difficult to judge temperature
I got this as a replacement for our ageing air fryer which was looking sorry for itself.

The first thing to say about this product is that it really looks the part. Yes, it’s larger than some, but having been used to a fryer with basic controls, this one lights up like a Christmas Tree when you first switch it on, with a wealth of different cooking options. Having said that, whilst I am tempted to try some of the settings for specific food, I haven’t so far. I only ever cooked a few staples (sausages, chicken, frozen potato products etc) in my air fryer, so all I really care about is getting the right temperature and chucking in the food for the allocated time.

This is where the product let me down a bit. Now, I don’t know if this is just a flaw with the particular item I received, but even though I’ve been following the instructions to the letter (and it worked the first time I took it out of the box), I just can’t get the fryer to ‘beep’ when the right temperature is reached anymore. This means that I have to set it and leave it for long enough for me to guess that it’s at the right temperature.

That said, I do still like the fryer. I like the flexibility of the removal grid – my old fryer didn’t have that as an option, and cleaning it is really easy – just chuck the cooking tray in the dishwasher.

Overall, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the food. Frozen chips come out perfect, and it makes chicken that almost tastes like fried, but you can tell from the sheer amount of grease collected at the bottom of the basket that it’s far healthier for you. I haven’t tried homemade chips, but Tefal recommend not to try cooking chips fresh from potatoes, and if you are going to then they advise a fairly convoluted process to make sure they come out okay.

Despite the flaw of minenot letting me know when the right temperature has been reached, I’ve been impressed with the fryer. It’s stylish, modern, easy to clean and makes great, healthy(ish!) food.

    A boo
I had my doubts but have been won over. This is so fast (no time lost preheating like our oven). Oven chips very much like they are when cooked in the regular oven – will be trying home made chips. In the meantime, we have cooked spicy veggie burgers – usually dry when oven-cooked but lovely in this fryer. Chicken portions perfectly cooked and moist. Breaded mozzarella sticks perfect.
This is so fast and easy – will be economical for the two of us as we cut down on the big oven.
Only issue is the visibility of the top display – not always easy to read.
When we have had longer and cooked more variety – I expect to revise my review and it may even be 5 stars (Which is exactly what I have done now – this was so handy while we had a kitchen refit and no cooker or hob for 4 weeks).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHealthy Frying
Having owned another Tefal air fryer which is larger machine, having been suitably impressed with the cooking of that I was interested to see how well a smaller air fryer would fare. A 4.2L capacity with a 1500W fryer, the temperature can be accurately controlled from 80-200C. A large angled LED display to easily view settings.

The touch controls on the top to control the temperate and cooking cycles as well as starting / stopping the fryer, presets include: fries, cutlet, shrimp, cake, pizza, fish, grill, roast. The main cooking basket pulls out from the bottom using the large handle and automatically shuts off the cooking cycle. The fryer is not the quietest whilst operational. Tried some frozen chips, since most frozen chips do come with a light coating no oil was necessary. The chips took around 15 minutes to cook using the built in chips preset and came out wonderfully golden crispy and tasty with not a hint of greasiness.

Overall convenient quick and healthy option to deep fat frying without too much compromise in taste.

This is really easy to use. It makes great chips without having to use a deep fat fryer, which is always a win in my book because I’m absolutely terrified of them. Only down side is that it’s a bit noisy. It’s also rather large, and takes up a lot of room on a kitchen surface, so if you’ve got a small kitchen you need to think about where you’ll store it. It’s easy to clean and the sections can be put in the dishwasher if necessary.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersAlthough there are some shortcomings, this fryer is worth every penny for the way it cooks perfect chips.
Although I like fried food, I try to keep my consumption low for health reasons. My indulgence is oven chips which, although not a tasty as “real” chips, are much lower in fat. I’ve toyed with the idea of a low-fat fryer but, until now, have resisted it, so the opportunity to try the Tefal Easy Fry Precision Health Fryer was very welcome.
On opening the box, I was disappointed with the very poor instruction manual, which certainly didn’t live up to the quality and price of the product. The manual is very small and the paper is of poor quality. Printing is too small, in black and white, and relies too much on poorly drawn graphics.
This is quite a large appliance, but it’s quite attractive, and looks good on a work surface. Control of operation is by a touch panel on the top of the unit. Symbols are rather small, and the touch areas are not very well defined, making it difficult to select the required programme. However, there is plenty of opportunity to override the default settings to suit your personal preferences.
That’s the negatives out of the way. Where this fryer really excels is at cooking chips, which is all I’ve tried to date. Frozen, crinkle cut oven chips came out crisp and golden and the favour was better than I’ve ever tasted from oven cooked chips. I will be trying other foods in due course.
The chip programme suggest removing the basket half way through cooking to shake the chips for more even results. This was very handy as I realised that the programmed cooking time would have over-cooked the chips, so I stopped cooking a couple of minutes before the end. Perfect, and I was surprised how much fat there was in the bottom of the basket below the trivet. What’s handy is that when you replace the basket, the programme resumes from where it stopped.
Although there are some shortcomings, this fryer is worth every penny for the way it cooks perfect chips.

    Makes the best chips ever!
The first thing I cooked in this was a batch of chips made from fresh new potatoes. They were golden and crispy and fluffy inside and delicious, like chips on a TV advert — perfect and gorgeous. No more crummy oven chips for me!

There’s a preset for chips (and other foods like pizza or sausages) on the slick touch panel on the top (fiddlier than it needs to be — a couple of knobs would work just as well). You can preheat but I don’t bother — doesn’t seem to make much difference. Just select the ‘chips’ preset and you get crispy chips in 15 minutes.

For frozen chips you don’t need to add oil but with fresh potatoes maybe half a tablespoon. Shake the ‘basket’ every few minutes for even cooking. You can set a bleeper on the top panel to remind you to do this every five minutes — the machine stops when you pull the basket out and continues automatically when you push it back in. You can also set the temperature and time manually too.

It’s a noisy machine. The fan’s about twice as loud as my microwave. And it’s very big, like a deep-fat fryer. At least it’s easy to clean, and dishwasher safe too.

So it’s big and noisy, but also basically fuss-free and makes the greatest chips. I’d recommend this model if you have a family and need to cook for four or more. But Tefal makes a range of these so you could get a smaller and simpler one and still make perfect chips with hardly any oil.

I was a little sceptical at first as healthy things usually taste bad, but so far I have cooked chicken, sausages and chicken burgers in this and wow!

I used absolutely no oil or anything but the foods have turned out so delicious. The chicken especially was so crispy and moist! Quick to cook too, the chicken fillets took about 14 minutes.
