I had just received a recall email on a Tower 6L I bought a while back so I bought this one to replace it. Much better as it has 3 steaming settings which are easy to adjust. Well you can always trust Tefal for the build quality, this is nice and solid as expected, works great!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersNever considered a pressure cooker before I got this, but since getting it I’ve discovered much faster cooking with more flavour than I have before, a stew with cheap cuts of beef cook to tender almost falling apart In about 15 minutes.
Tried oxtail for the firs time today, 45 minutes and it was falling off the bone and so moist.
    Pulled pork in 1hr10 minutes!
Even simple things like boiled potatoes, done in 10 mins, the texture they have is completely different than boiling them for 15 minutes.

This is easy to use, easy to clean, although the shiny lid does scratch up after the first use but I’m not bothered.
Use it on a gas hob on full till it builds pressure then change it to the smallest burner to tick over until ready.

Golden Review Award: 150 From Our UsersI am one of those people with terrifying memories of the early 70’s and the silver monster in the kitchen! It made the most awful loud hissing like it was going to explode and the weights jangled loudly together while my Mom ran across the kitchen with it to put it under a tap! It used to scare me as a child half to death each time.
So it was with a lot of trepidation that I researched and then eventually bought my own pressure cooker. Even then when it arrived I was too nervous to try it at first!
Anyway- I did and I love it! My new pressure cooker isn’t loud or frightening at all!! Casseroles and lamb shanks are cooked to perfection in no time. It’s easy! My message is- if I can do it, you can too!!
    Go for it!

Golden Review Award: 52 From Our UsersAlthough I have never used a pressure cooker myself before, my wife has grown up with her mum using them almost daily. The distinctive hissing sound that almost instills a fear of a ticking bomb about to explode, tales of when pressure cookers go wrong are common place… so needless to say both of us were somewhat hesitant allowing such a utensil into the home. However the thought of cooking delicious chicken broth in less than 20 minutes, beef casseroles in under half an hour and an all round healthier way of cooking and saving energy was tempting enough. Well after shopping around on which model to get, I decided that stainless steel was a must (easy cleaning and better wear), at least 5-6 litre capacity, a good wide base and of course a reputable brand. This Tefal model ticked all the boxes and with Amazon’s excellent price and prime delivery, it turned up at our door within 24 hours in its original box with the delivery labelling on the outside. Inside there’s not much to shout about, the impressively huge saucepan occupies most of the box space, wrapped in plastic and accompanied with a small multi language booklet. Inside the saucepan there’s a vegetable pan which can optionally be fitted inside to separate foodstuffs when cooking. The Tefal certainly looks impressive in its mirror stainless steel finish and heft, although its not too heavy when empty. The base seems well made, solid and thick and should easily cover the largest gas burners on a hob without flame spill. The flexible sealing gasket is a translucent thick extrusion ring which sits comfortably inside the lid and can be removed easily to clean. Of course spares are available but it looks as though it should last many years of service. Closing the lid is simple and fuss free, simply allow the weight of the lid to sit on the pan with the alignment arrows opposite each other and turn the handle so that the lid locks into position with a satisfying click.
Our first try at cooking a meal was a chicken broth using drumsticks, stock and raw vegetables. We first quickly browned the chicken pieces with a little oil in the bottom of the pan (lid removed) and then added vegetables and hot stock (water and oxo) to just below the top of the ingredients. The lid was then secured and locked and the green selector on the lid turned to the meat position. With the hob burner turned up to max, slowly the pressure began increasing and after a little steam emitted from around the pressure indicator (normal) the red marker moves upwards so its flush with the inside of the window (note the red marker does not pop up above the handle so you do need to peer over the lid to see it). Once the marker is raised the pressure now begins to build and eventually steam will emit from the selector valve hole with a distinctive hiss. At this point you then reduce the heat of the burner/hob until there’s just a gentle whisper of steam emitted from the valve. We were both impressed at how quiet the cooker is in operation, just a gentle whisper as it goes about its business! After about 20 minutes we turned off the heat and then over the course of several minutes very carefully turned the selector level back towards the steam position so to gentle release the pressure. Once the pressure has dropped to a safe level the red indicator will drop down and the steam should stop. You can then slide the green lever to unlock the lid and turn it to remove. As far as I can understand it is not possible to unlock the lid until the pressure has dropped to a safe level i.e. the indicator has dropped down. The chicken was cooked perfectly and fell off the bones! We did try cooking some vegetables separately using the lower pressure setting on the selector lever, again results were perfect. I was extremely impressed at just how efficient the Tefal was at cooking a meal in a fraction of the time usually taken in an oven and saucepans, and at how succulent and tasty it was. Unfortunately the supplied handbook doesn’t contain any recipes, although it does give some guide times for cooking different ingredients. Best bit of all though was cleaning the Tefal, the stainless steel construction meant that no effort at all was needed to clean it other than a gentle sponge with hot water and dishwashing liquid! Brilliant! The Tefal secure 5 neo has changed our opinion of pressure cookers completely, it’s a lot quieter than I had imagined and I feel confident that it’s safe to use. Oh and I forgot to mention the very generous warranty supplied that I believe covers it for 10 years. Definitely would recommend this cooker and a great size for a small family. The steamer basket is a bonus and the two pressure settings helps optimise cooking times for vegetables and meat. The stainless steel construction not only looks fantastic, it’s a dream to keep clean!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThere were lots of other options to buy but I preferred Tefal for their experience and quality.

    Pros:

    – Great steel pressure cooker, looks good in your kitchen also with it’s shiny surface
    – Big capacity for crowded families or big meals.
    – Warning system is in the pan so you don’t have to guess the water levels!
    – Several security measures to prevent you from scolding or injuring yourself.
    – Cooked several meals, pressurized quite well, cleaned nicely without trouble

    Cons:
    – The pressurize red warning could be more visible, it is subtle and you have to get close to the cooker to look and the usual steam might scold your face!
    – Steam valve opens towards the center of the pan, away from the handle!! means when you want to depressurize (release steam) your arm will swing in the way of the steam and create a chance to scold your wrists or arm if you are not careful. It would be so much safer if they released it just the other way around.
    – The instruction book, (As someone stated) it is appalling! I think google translate would do a better job. The pictures are tiny, and only at the beginning of the booklet. Instructions are confusing and vague as hell with no clear wording. If you haven’t used a pressure cooker before good luck as you won’t find any online material for the cooker also! I have had to call my mom to figure out what to do at first time use.
    – No recipes book, where is it, why would you not have any with specific timings for your cooker?
    – The online recipes are useless as they can be => Literally: chop meat, onion, man light fire, man eat food!
    – I have used a ladle very very carefully to pick up the juices but still somehow managed to leave marks on the bottom of the pan, so scratches and marks quite easily!

I was getting a bit worried about the health risk of using my previous aluminium pressure cooker because i used a pressure cooker very frequently. This gives me peace of mind being stainless steel. It’s bigger than I expected but that’s ok because I can cook plenty and serve up and freeze on plates if there’s too much. I tested the volume with jugs of water. It is 4.5 litres to the maximum fill line but that leaves plenty of expansion and steam space. The plastic colour on the top is not yellow like the picture but a funky pea green.

Golden Review Award: 171 From Our UsersUsing pressure cooker is nothing new to me. Normally they last donkey years. I needed a new pressure cooker after we updated our cooker to an induction cooker. After looking for reviews, I have decided to go for Tefal Secure 5 Neo. And to be honest I am pleased that I did.
Most of the old pressure cooker I used had weight and they used to make a lot of noises. Which is a very noticeable difference in these new silent pressure cookers. This pressure cooker is very shiny as you can see my pictures.

This pressure cooker comes with two programmable settings. Low pressure (7PSI) setting took vegetables and high pressure (12PSI) to use for meat.

    Pros
    Light weight
Well built handle with auto lock mechanism
Easy to change from low to high pressure settings
Thick base (triple layer) and this is very important not to burn your food while frying.
Steaming basket included ( I haven’t used it yet)
18/10 alloy to make it look very high quality
    6L capacity for whole family

    Cons
Instruction could be better for people who are using pressure cooker for the first time.
No other problem with the product so far and I shall update if anything I notice.

Beautiful, Shiny, Sturdy, Easy to use, Value for Money.... One of the best pressure cooker I have ever used

Great piece of kit. Has reduced my cook times for beans & lentils. Meat is super tender from it. I docked a star as the valve never reached pressure yesterday while cooking as there seems to be too much steam escaping from the handle area. This is the first time this happened.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a great pressure cooker and for the price I’m sure can’t be bettered. It replaced a 20+ year old prestige model that (in its day) was a huge improvement over the old fashioned type of pressure cooked I’d used before with weights you put on top. This represents as big an improvement over the old model as my replacement did 20 years ago.

    What’s better:
    – it comes to pressure much more quickly
    – it is more energy efficient: a much lower setting is needed in the cooker to keep it at pressure
    – it loses less liquid during cooking through steam escaping
    – it is much quieter at pressure

My main concern was that (like all modern pressure cookers) it cooks at 13 PSI rather than 15 PSI. I know this will mean slightly longer cooking times once at pressure but as my old cooker took so long to come to pressure I’m not in reality losing any time.

If you have an old rickety pressure cooker don’t be sentimental and see what advances have been made in pressure cooker technology.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is an excellent quality, heavy build pressure cooker which I find really easy to use. The finish inside makes it largely non stick as it’s so polished that nothing seems to stick much. I like the system that allows you to control the pressure for each food, This is very easy with just a turn of the little lever on the weight. My only criticism is that there is no recipe booklet that covers weight/time which would be really useful to anyone starting to use a pressure cooker for the first time.

Wouldn’t be without it. Took me a while to get used to it, because I was a newbie to pressure cooking, but I find I’m using it all the time now.

Only used it once so far and it did perform as it should do.
