I loved the LOTR trilogy, and I really wanted to have the extended editions on Blu-Ray.
The Hobbit movies were a big disappointment, and I could live without them, but I bought this because the 6 movie set was half the price of the 3 movie one!
The Extended editions look stunning in Blu-Ray, so from that perspective, this set is totally worth it. Apart from that, these are virtually unchanged from the DVD extended editions. I would have loved them to have fitted the extended editions on a single disc each, rather than split across two discs. I think this might have been possible with the extra capacity of Blu-Ray discs.
Another minor disappointment is the LOTR extra discs are still DVDs.
Aside from these minor complaints, they look better than ever. But if you already have the DVDs and an upscaling player, it might not be worth splashing out on the Bly-Ray version.
What year is it?
Binged watched/marathoned the hell out of this and now I don’t know what day it is.
Where is my box set of lord of the rings and the Hobbit?
Did not receive lord of the rings or the Hobbit dvd. Received the birthday cards .
No Dutch subtitles.
We were promised dutch subtitles, but that was only the case fot The Hobbit. The Lord of the Rings does not have Dutch subtitles.
A must have for any LOTR fan! I must say, I aren’t as big of a fan for the Hobbit movies, but at this price is hard not to but them.
I’ve loved the movies since I had the first on VHS. Time and time I kept saying I want the extended versions – not just for the added film scenes but all the extras that come with it, I just couldn’t justify the price but thissss is a great buy and I love love love the movies even more. The extra scenes make so much more sense and if you’re a fan please, do get this boxset!
I have a PS4 and I’m able to play these fine.
The best franchise out there.
Yes, The Hobbit wasn’t as thrilling as The Lord of the Rings but still worth the money. The Lord of the Rings is an absolute masterpiece and probably the best trilogy out there.

So much lotr viewing!
If you are a middle earth fan then you can’t get better, days worth of viewing. Well worth the money
Great value se
Great value getting all the Hobbit and Lord of the rings extended films. Bluray quality so you see every little detail. Brilliant, timeless films.
Entire collection in one extended wow x
Love the box set bargain many thanks from top middle earth fa
Picked this up during a lightning xmas event, having been after it for years. I previously had the first gen dvd LOTR boxset (before the Hobbit) and the picture on this blows that release out of the water. I am not a huge fan of the franchise, but wanted the most complete boxset (apart from the bookcase collectors edition) for a good price point. This is the 30 disc boxset with the extended editions. A huge amount of extras to boot gives you a boxset worth booking a few day off work to enjoy.. will be saving mine till the winter and doing that! Down side (as mentioned by others) is a flimsy cardboard box sleeve to hold everything which is the only letdown in this great package.
Epic series
Excellent film series, extended editions add so much more to the story world. Product arrived next day, and in good condition.
Rather good purchase
Though it was expected, not having Bulgarian subtitles was a bit disappointing. Viewing experience is awesome without any doubt, but what I see as a disadvantage, compared to my DVD set, is that movie/disc always starts from the beginning, once discontinued. So that part of the experience is not that smooth. Still, love my addition to the collection.

WORTH EVERY PENNY
Seen this set hundreds of times.
It’s even better on bluray!
don’t even think about it, just buy.
All the extended in one collectio
Happy with the set, also had a booklet in it that lists what’s on each disc. Very happy
24 hours of solid cinima beauty + behind the scenes
6 extended movies in one package and all blu ray. All dvds have the original behind the scenes footage too so that adds another few days to your viewing lol. I have previously had the original extended LOTR but never blu ray. I also have not seen the 5 army movie from the Hobbit series too so this is a reall treat. I am not a huge fan of the Hobbit but I know someone will appreciate it in the house.
Really good value pack for some seriously amazing entertaining movies. I am super happy.
All good
Sorry for late review!!! All good. Item was a gift for someone else.
Great watching for any fan.
Superb. So much extra with the films. The only trouble is finding time to watch it all.
This is the set for all Middle Earthers.
This box set has days of viewing pleasure. It’s a great box set with phenomenal bonus features. That will help anyone that wants to nerd out.
The quality is obviously Blu Ray quality, and the extended version of the films are really good.
It is a great box set to own, and comes nicely packaged and presented. A really good purchase to own in the collection.
PRODUCT AS PROMISED.
Extended version with lot’s of extra material, all 6 films for a fairly good price in comparison to other products. Material and appearance as promised, though I would prefer a sturdier case. Overall, I am quite satisfied.
Must have for Tolkien Fans
The only way to watch the Middle Earth Saga !!!! Sheer class in Blue Ray a must have for a Blue Ray collection .
Great value
Great box! I was looking for box like this that has both Hobbit and LOTR. Comes with a lot of extras like behind the scenes and interviews.
Great quality
Great movie collection for a great price, love being able to watch each movie of one disc
Middle Earth Collectio
Great collection for fans of these books and films. I had not got any Blu Ray. I have the extended LOTR but not much for the Hobbit. Looking for ward to some Winter chain watching.

Awesome gift for Lord of the Ring/ Hobbit fans

Bought as a Xmas Present BUT it was on their list, so hope it’ll be great received and appreciated
The One Ring - The One Complete must have!
A must for fans of this franchise! Lots of discs that include extras and most of all, the uncut versions male more sense than the regular cut versions (as some questions stemming from cut versions leave one wondering).

I bought the collection this black Friday for 48 pounds and I’m writing this review just to point out that the box is different from the flimsy box that many people received, the box is now made from very sturdy cardboard with a slip cover.
This was a quality set of an amazing set of films!

So much better than dvd
Have had dvds for a long time. But the quality of the blue are so much better should have made the change long ago.
Really good idea to put the whole collection together in one. Enjoyed watching them all again. Good value for money.
Great value
All the Hobbit Lotr extended versions on Blu-ray in a box set… need I say more? Great value for money
I purchased the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings on DVD when they were first released. With an HD TV and a new generation of LotR fans in the household, upscaling to Blu-ray was definitely worth the money.
The power of the story-telling is second-to-none and the transfer to the upgraded medium does the films justice, especially given the commitment to a lot of practical effects, which arguably stand the test of time better than heavy reliance on CGI.
It’s rare that all of the elements of image and sound come together in a way that makes its mark so perfectly and indelibly. The Hobbit trilogy is a worthy companion from a visual perspective, but lacks the richness and depth of narrative of the LotR trilogy.
It’s always a pleasure to return to Middle Earth. This Blu-ray edition made it seem as though a window to that world had manifested in the corner of the room.
I would recommend this box set to all Middle Earth fans, but I’m sure that to anyone that struggles with the fantasy genre, the combined running time will feel like an ordeal. To those who find themselves drawn in to the journeys and character arcs, the end of the adventure retains an emotional punch that doesn’t diminish with time or repeated viewing. This is some of the most impressive story-telling ever committed to film… or digital equivalent.
Brillia
Bought these for a movie marathon, 10-12 hours over 2 days to get through all of these! The bluray gives brilliant visuals to an already brilliant film, and the extras are pretty good too!
Exceptional Delivery Time
This item was delivered a couple of days before expected, which is always welcome! Perfect description, all is good! Regards
Great movies
Great movies in a great box set. Box a little flimsy. Arrived earlier than expected. Very Happy customer.
great value for price
All great. All my beloved MiddleEarth in one set. What do you need more?
Entertaining film .
Bought these for my husband who love these films . Great film for the whole family to watch not as dark as Lord od the rings .
Perfection …. nothing wrong with cover or case for discs as mentioned in other reviews.
If you are a proper fan of LOTR and The Hobbit then this is the best quality / extended scenes are like as though you’re watching a totally different movie.
All the small points are now joined together like a jigsaw puzzle.
5 stars without a question of doubt !

pound it’s gone up a lot since but it may not be around forever so if you are a fan
get it while you can i mark it 10/10 in all areas.
Great collectio
No review for the movies as they are worth watching, although Lord of the Rings is something I can watch repeatedly. The 6 movies all come in a cardboard cover, which is minimal, but functional. Each movie is in it’s own box which makes accessing each disc very easy, and all the extras are included…it’s odd they use several DVD’s for these extras on the Lord of the Rings…when they could have just placed the content on a bluray disc or two. My only thoughts against these sorts of things is that it would have been good to just have the extended versions of these movies without all the extras…and why is each movie spilt across two discs, surely you could fit the entire movie on one disc…
I have a bit of a ritual that I go through once a year, and the ritual involves me taking a few days off, slobbing in front of the telly and watching the Lord of the Rings movies – the extended editions – in their glorious entirety. When it came to the last time I was going to watch them, I’d got far too used to watching movies in Hi-Def so my lovely DVD copies looked fuzzy and frankly rather horrible on my big-screen TV, so I decided that there was really only one solution – I was going to have to purchase a Blu-Ray set of them.
I was, however, rather puzzled that a nice boxed set of them was difficult to find at a sensible price, so I gritted my teeth (and possibly said a naughty word or three) and took the plunge on this set, which also includes the so-so Hobbit trilogy – which I suppose is acceptable from a completionist’s point of view. Thanks to Amazon Prime, the set arrived the next day and after watching ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ on DVD, the jump in quality from that to ‘The Two Towers’ on Blu-Ray was absolutely breathtaking in every respect.
The most obvious thing was the improvement in picture quality from the paltry DVD resolution of 720×480 to the Full-HD resolution of 1920×1080, which made the images so much more sharp and defined. There was also a big jump-up in terms of the quality of how the colours looked and, of course, there was a notable difference in the audio quality, which sounded absolutely amazing coming through my soundbar.
It would be wrong to write a review of the LotR saga without saying a little something about the films themselves – and I don’t really know where to start. I mean, it was always going to be difficult to translate a much-loved fantasy saga (heck, THE fantasy saga) to the big screen, but Peter Jackson somehow pulled it off. The tone, the characters, the locations and everything is absolutely mind-blowing and the actors he chose to play the various roles are perfect. If you’ve not seen them, I would recommend that you buy this set, get yourself comfy on your sofa (mind to get some munchies and some tissues) and get yourself engrossed in these.
As I said however, this set also includes the Hobbit movies, which are essentially not awful – but why they made the decision to turn a very thin book into a trilogy (thereby adding a good deal of padding) after making three very thick books also into a trilogy (thereby having to cut some bits out), so I would have much rather seen just the one Hobbit movie.
It doesn’t stop there, of course – once you’ve finished watching through the movies, you’ve got the absolute cornucopia of additional material to work through – this set contains (count ’em) 30 discs, including the movies themselves, which represents hours and hours of ‘making of’ documentaries, commentaries, concept art, special effects wizardry and the likes. It’s actually quite mind-boggling and goes a long way to show how much work was put into these movies.
All in all however, this is without doubt the finest boxed-set of the Middle Earth on-screen saga you’re likely to get – and is definitely a worthy successor if you still only have the DVD set.
Excellent service.
As described. The extended versions make more sense than the abbridged movies.
I love having all 6 extended films
It’s a pain that in the lotr trilogy each movie is split on two discs. Obviously not a huge issue as the films are so long but you still have to get up and change the discs halfway through the film.
Simply brilliant, waited along time for all the films to be released as an extended edition collection and was not disappointed! Box is sturdy and good looking and the Blu-ray cases are well made and packaged well. Recommended for the fans
Incredible collection of everything the Middle Earth completest would want at a price remarkably fair – it is thirty discs after all ! Stunning blue ray extended versions of the films are truly mind blowing. It is hard to come back to Muddle Earth after this journey. Now I have only the twenty four other discs of supplementals to savour – bliss in abundance !
Amazing
Buy it! So much to watch and the extra bits in the movies make a difference
Must watch!
For the Lord of the Rings extended editions alone this is worth it, the Hobbit films are good additions though. Once you’ve watched the Extended Editions you won’t be able to go back to the standard editions!
Five Stars
Excellent box set of films and great value for money

Can’t believe my luck in getting the whole LOTR trilogy on bluray for this price including the appendices (although the appendices remain in their original DVD quality). Personally completely indifferent to the Hobbit films but not complaining that they came too, as still an amazing price with or without them. As mentioned by other reviewers the box that houses them all is pretty flimsy but the bluray cases themselves are good quality sturdy plastic so not too bothered by this.
The Middle-Earth Saga (2001-2014) ONE OF THE GREATEST FILM SERIES EVER!
What a wonderful series of films. Peter Jackson is a visionary has captured the essence of J.R.R Tolkien’s beloved stories of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.” The set itself is phenomenal all 6 films have similar casing and are all numbered at the side with roman numerals I-VI. Fans will be familiar with the Appendices special features but here not only do you get all parts 1-12 of that, you also get the theatrical release special features as well as the behind the scenes discs for “The Lord of the Rings”. So you get A LOT in this set. There is also a booklet guide stating what you get on each disc. Crucially you get 6 EPIC films that come together as one grand story that is timeless and ca be re-watched from beginning to end. I for one love The Hobbit Trilogy and think that is serves as a great addition to this series. This is one of my favourite film series ever made! The artistry is incredible, and the films are long but their very immersive. The Lord of the Rings definitely serves as more of a landmark in cinema for sure but The Hobbit adds to the legacy and this is definitely Peter Jackson’s finest work, everything is great, acting, music, scripts, direction, original songs etc you get the idea if you haven’t seen these films you are truly missing out! This is EPIC filmmaking at its very very best! And this set of all 6 films is the one you should own. I will treasure these films forever they are truly inspirational!

Great price – I really enjoyed the hobbit this time round. Always loved Lo
he DVD cases themselves are solid and the quality of film fantastic on our 4k tv/4k DVD playe
As people have stated, box really is very flimsy and label badly applied. However, the DVD cases themselves are solid and the quality of film fantastic on our 4k tv/4k DVD player. Brilliant purchase.
A Must Have For Tolkien Fans ....
I’m a Tolkien geek/fan so this was a completely unnecessary purchase as I already have all the discs in multiple versions, it’s just good to have all the discs in one handy box. I can now leave everything else in prime position on the bookshelves, especially the extortionately priced leather bound editions, and just use this selection for viewing. The box though is dreadful, the material is a step up from paper, it bends and creases and will definitely tear.
The five stars are for the discs and booklet, the box doesn’t even warrant half a star, shame.
Now roll on the tv series!!
Four Stars
Amazing collection but one of the worst boxes out there.
Brilliant for the money!
All films as described, beautiful box, perfect prezzie for my dad this Christmas!
What a price to match too!
Great movie maratho
I loved watching these films, the additional content was fantastic because lots of scenes I hadn’t seen before. The only downside is the packaging was slightly damaged and is fragile.
Grea
Great box set at a relatively cheap price, it includes all of the unseen parts of all 6 movies including a couple of extra songs from the Hobbit. Only downside is the outer box wasn’t proof read and contains at least 1 spelling erro
Must buy for LOTR fans!
Excellent product! Very well presented and the films themselves are priceless.

Great stuff
It is awesome buy if you are a LOTR and Hobbit fan. Extended edition of all six movies + so many extra stuff. There’s just so much to watch.
Marvelous!
It was like re discovering the movies all over again! It was absolutely fantastic and made me feel like a kid again! Would recommend to any middle earth fan!
Four Stars
Would have been 5 stars but the outer case is rubbish.

Would have been 5 stars but the outer case is rubbish.
The box to start off with is flimsy as hell, and screams cheap, especially if you compare to the extended dvd set of the lotr. However you don’t buy these films for box I imagine. Therefore its simply middle earth in its full lengthy entirety in crisp HD, whats to complain about. At just over 10 a film, not to mention all of the extra behind the scenes stuff which will be interesting to anyone with an interest in the films. If you love Middle Earth you can’t really pass for the full experience which pound for pound really is worth it despite the initial 65 price tag, there is plenty of content to make that seem a bargain. I look forward to doing many 20 hour marathons in the years to come with these.
Fabulous Movies
Having a watch marathon. cannot fault it. So what its got dodgy packaging. Just take care. That what I say. It’s the fantastic films, sound, picture ect. that counts. Hours and hours of documentaries.
I was a little skeptical about ordering this product at first, primarily due to it’s great value price. I’ve been wanting to get LOTR extended blu ray editions for a few years now but was always put off because of the very expensive price tag attached to this edition. Hence my doubting of purchasing this significantly cheaper edition which ALSO includes all three Hobbit extended edition blu ray movies too?!
So I eventually ordered and as soon as this arrived (next day with Prime) I ripped open the packaging to inspect the box / blu rays in detail and everything looked good. Then I opened The Fellowship of the Ring and inserted the blu ray into my blu ray player and I was delighted with the picture quality and the presentation as a whole. All my doubts and worries of this product being a ‘cheap copy ‘ were over! This is incredibly good value for all six extended edition blu rays of this amazing movie(s).
The only (tiny) flaw is the quite ‘flimsy’ box which contains the six blu rays. This may diminish quite quickly after a few uses BUT if you wanted to, I guess you could easily resolve this by laminating the box. Anyway, for me, this is a minor problem which doesn’t bother me at this value.
Picture quality, audio and overall presentation (which contains all extras) is superb. An absolute must for any LOTR fan.

I never give many things 5 stars but for this set I feel compelled to. All the moves in extended editions and hours of extras. Best purchase of Blueray I’ve made in a long time and worth the price. Apart from a few who worry about the box (get a life) this is excelle
PEOPLE LISTEN UP
PEOPLE LISTEN UP…. TOTALLY WORTH IT TIMELESS CLASSICS (LORD OF THE RINGS) …. LETS JUST PRETEND THAT THE HOBBIT WAS GOOD 2 SHALL WE ? ;D
Ok… So i read a number of reviews before buying this. If you read them they have stated that it is just 6 normal blu ray cases in flimsey cardboard. To sum up yes this is true.
If you want incredibly limited edition with beautifully hand crafted cases with photos of the cast and crew (which im pretty sure would be more than 65) then this isnt for you
However if you want to view the full extended edition journey in beautiful blu ray definition from beginning to end additionally packed with hours of behind the scenes footage and additional content then this set is perfect definitely delivers.
To address the reviews saying “do not buy this is the original theatrical version not the extended edition” if you are looking at a photo of the dark sleeved box with the hobbit trilogy (underneath it the lord of the rings trilogy) with the words at the top on a blue band 6 film extended editions then dont worry thats what you will get.
Hope this helps but i think this is well worth it.

This is actually 4.5 stars, it loses half a mark for the flimsy box it comes in and the fact the Lord of the Rings trilogy extra discs are only on DVD.
So, as a massive fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and having enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy but not loving it, I was still keen to finally get my hands on this boxset. I previously owned the original Lord of the Rings extended edition trilogy on DVD, however I had literally been waiting years for a complete boxset on Blu-ray of the extended editions of all six films once I found out the Hobbit was to be finally turned into a film(s).
As for the quality of the Lord of the RIngs films, this is a rare case where the additional material improved on already amazing films. The Blu-ray transfer is excellent, and although the visual and special effects look a bit ropy in places (these films are 13-15 years old now) I think they still stand-up even with the added clarity of the Blu-ray transfer, although there is some graining in a handful of scenes. However, this did not bother me at all. Also, the big furor over the green filter on the Blu-ray editions of the trilogy is not something that bothers me in the slightest. The sound quality was excellent through my Yamaha sound bar. All of the additional extras are unfortunately not on Blu-ray, it looks like they have just repackaged the DVD discs from the DVD release (I haven’t been through the extras, I’ve only watched the films). Another niggle is that each film is still on two discs despite the added storage capacity of Blu-ray, although it is quite nice having an enforced intermission on such long films when you have to get up to change discs. Also, having each film boxset in just a single Blu-ray case is far more preferable to the cardboard case the DVD release came in.
As for the Hobbit trilogy, I had only seen the theatrical versions in IMAX 3D at 48fps. It was pretty jarring and really took me out of the films at times. This Blu-ray release (in 2D) is a vast improvement over that. The picture transfer is excellent, the standard 24fps makes it look far better, as does the 2D image! As for the additional scenes, well personally I feel they improved the films immensely. Yes, I know it’s ridiculous turning such a slender volume into three films, never mind then turning those three films into 3+ hour epics. However, if you look at them as just films rather than book adaptations, I think the extra footage is a worthy addition to the theatrical releases. It improved the films for me (as did the 24fps and 2D picture). Sound quality was also excellent. The extras are all on Blu-ray, although again I haven’t watched them. The Hobbit films are all on one disc each unlike the Lord of the Rings films.
Overall, I’m really happy I purchased the upgrade to Blu-ray for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and glad to have the Hobbit extended editions included in the set. This boxset certainly is epic at 30 discs, and certainly worth a punt. Recommended.

Overall, I’m really happy I purchased the upgrade to Blu-ray for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and glad to have the Hobbit extended editions included in the set. This boxset certainly is epic at 30 discs, and certainly worth a punt. Recommended.
One boxset to rule them all!!!
Love the films, happy they’re finally on one boxset, saves me finding them all one by one. Perfect for me
To put it short: all previously released content for LOTR and Hobbit trilogies (extended movie, theatrical bonuses, EE bonuses e.g. appendecies) included in an affordable package. No more, no less – standard BR blue boxes (though sadly different design than previous EE versions), standard carton box and quite nice little booklet. All in all a good bang for your buck if you just want complete set of discs (without 3D version).
Five Stars
Packaging is flimsy but I don’t care as I love the fils and liked the price.
Theatrical versions
ATTENTION! These aren’t the extended editions, some of the reviews on here are talking about a box with 30 discs and all extended, this is not that. This is the original theatrical releases on blurey.
Obviously the movies are amazing, I can’t really say anything bad about them. What is still quite annoying is the fact the movies are split into 2 disks so I have to get up mid movie to change disks over… also the box is really badly made with what looks like no care taken in applying the stickers as they aren’t straight and have already began to peel off.
Fantastic films, bursting with bonus features. The extended editions add more depth to the film and the quality of picture and sound is stunning. Well worth the price and a must have for any Middle-Earth fan.
Great set of movies. All benefit from the extended editions, but in particular I found the Hobbit series improved the most. Blu-ray quality on big screen and quality surround sound is a must to enjoy these spectacular movies.
All the films in one affordable set without the fuss and expense of alternatives, and these are the extended versions too. Even comes with tons of accessory dvd’s (making of etc) to keep you entertained well beyond the actual features themselves.
Whole lotta film here – box abit flimsy but to be expected for the price – Pay for the films inside
Brillaint, epic, and amazing films, all of them. (Sold.)
I love all six films almost totally and completely. However they have a couple of flaws which make me rate only four stars.
Firstly the number of multiracial actors is low in both films. I realise the cast are not all English, however more artistic licence could have been evoked. Lake-town (in The Hobbit) was very refreshing to actors of all origin. Sadly Lord of the Rings didn’t lend itself to much variation in nationalities. [I do intend to re-watch this set of films soon to review this point, because I may have been over-critical.] (It was good though, to see many nationalities in the crew credits.)
Secondly, the audio is too loud in many placed. Conversation has to have volume turned up, then to be followed by loud action scenes and loud music. It’s possible to watch without changing volume, and it’s fine. However if you do turn the loud stuff down, the following conversations can not be heard.
Go beyond this and these films are simply mind-blowing. I have seen them all before on DVD theatrical versions. However Blu-ray Extended Editions are completely another story. It’s like watching the films with the bits from the theatrical versions in it. What I mean is, it doesn’t feel like watching extended versions of the theatrical versions. E.g The Return of the King in The Lord of the Rings. That film in the theatrical version was almost just a war film. In the extended edition it was a film full of twists and turns with a battle or two in it.
The Blu-ray version is something else entirely too. I always felt Blu-ray makes films look three-dimensional. What it does with these films however is make me watch the films much more closely. I picked up so much more, about who was who, and where was where. I understood the films and story on a whole new level.
I can not state how mind-blowing it was watching these films in Blu-ray extended editions. I was transfixed, and rewinding the slightest thing that I missed. OK, I do concede a few moments got a bit boring, but they were not too many and quickly passed.
Lastly it’s worth mentioning how much more I adapted to the actors. E.g. Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf really became Gandalf before my eyes in this version. I never really noticed Gimli much in the theatrical versions of the films. He just sort of tagged along, took part completely, but he was never explored. What the extended editions did was explore the characters a bit, like the books did. I was enamoured by Gimli character in these extended films so much more.
If you never buy these films on Blu-ray or in the extended editions, you owe it to yourself to rent them. You will be surprised. I can’t offer any more opinion without nagging, so it’s up to you.
everything perfec
value for money , excellect collection with extended editions of all 6 films! perfect condition! fast shipping!
Finally found this set in a HMV. They had 2 left. I’m not sure if WB underestimated the popularity of this set or if they just don’t really care. Whatever the case, if you can find it for retail price brand new BUY IT, these things are being sold for 100+ on eBay. Now onto the actual set, the box set is okay, the contents themselves are great, mainly the lord of the rings part which have 6 discs each, though some are just DVD. It is essentially a combination of the 12 disc Hobbits set and the 15 disc lord of the rings set (which is hard to find and sold for ridiculous prices here in the UK btw), with the 2nd disc from the theatrical releases added in for good measure. Being used to the theatrical Blu rays, I was blown away by how good the extended versions look. The Hobbit exists. Unfortunately. They look great, but thats to be expected from much newer films. I do feel as though I was forced to buy the set, especially because of my other options being limited. Maybe Warner Bros. will take time off from ruining DC movies and focus on my complaints. They probably won’t and to be honest I wouldn’t either. Please up-vote this review I spent like half an hour making it, most of it in tears.
I’ve waited ages for all six films to be in one box set and it was well worth the wait and the price is not bad for 30 Blu-Ray disks.
9 disks for the films and 21 disks full of special features. Please buy, fully guaranteed for everyone.
GREAT! at last a box set of all 6 films and all extended.
I mean I cannot believe I found this, especially at the price they gave great value.
Its so hard to fine the box set at a good price especially extended and extra behind the scenes clips.
I cannot recommend this enough, for all you Lotr & Hobbit fans this is a must have.
Did a whole movie marathon when I got it. well worth it.
Lastly when you think about it it came out as less than 10 for each movie, which for blue-ray is really good value.
Only negative are that the Lotr films are set on 2 disks so I have to get up to change. But that’s because I am lazy.
And people have said in other reviews that the box case/holder is a little bit flimsy, but not massive issue.
Stunning films. Been waiting ages for simple affordable boxset of all 6 with extended cuts and extras (not the 500+ balsa wood shelf version!) Would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for the poor typo on the back slipcover – “EXTENDED EDITIO”
Of course this has no bearing on the quality of the films, but annoying when it’s some of the most famous films ever from a big-money studio and they can’t be bothered to proofread the cover!
(unless of course Editio is Elvish…?)
Apart from flimsy packaging this is an amazing purchase. A must have for any Middle-Earth film fan.
Waited so long for a hobbit/lotr extended edition blu ray box set. 65 for a 30 disc set is a great deal, just wish the quality of the box was better. It’s pretty flimsy!
