Good value for money and accurate
I initially bought this for my cat as he kept going missing for days at a time. The device itself is quite small – probably a bit big for a cat but perfect for a dog collar. The gps is very accurate as I used the app several times to locate my cat and it lead me directly to where he was. It is good value for money for what it is.
Great tracker with good apps.
Was recommended this by a co worker and only had this a couple of days and this battery is better than I expected. There are also great side (Dog Walks) apps to go in conjunction with the tracker. I had to contact customer support with a minor issue and they quickly responded and rectified the issue!
Works well
Have only used a few times, but when I did I found it easy to set up and use. The live section in the app which uses your phone camera and then shows you which direction your dog is (left or right) is not accurate at all. Was telling me my dog was 20mtrs left, when he was about 10mtrs to my right.
Also I found it not as accurate as they said it was, I found it to be about 30mtrs out to where the dog was most of the time (weird when you are walking with him and the app telling you he is 30mtrs infront of you)

Exactly what we wanted, peace of mind.
Love this device, it has worked perfectly and given us peace of mind. The battery life is so much better than anticipated, a great investment.
Good but with a couple of drawbacks...
Good tracker – best I’ve found so far. Would have given 5 stars if design had been more ergonomic and comfortable for the dog and if you could charge it still attached to the collar.
11th November 2019 UPDATE: Have now received the new and much improved Tractive Tracker – all the above issues are sorted and more improvements besides! Would now be happy to give 5 stars…
Saved my dog’s life!
My 10 month old retriever bitch is a hunter!! We live in the country and when she goes, she goes and has caused me so much anxiety after she’s chased a pheasant/rabbit etc etc especially as we’re also on the main line to Waterloo…….
We lost her, found her through the tracker yards from where she should be – on the mainline!
The tracker saved her life as we were so far from our usual route would have walked away hoping she’d have come home eventually – if we hadn’t gone to where the tracker said she was she wouldn’t have tried to scrabble up the embankment and we’d have lost her under a train!
The annual fee is a fraction of the stress if she hadn’t been tracked, thank you a million times!!
Good tracker - awful websi
I will update this review with regards the performance of the product itself – when I’ve tried using it, outside, with the dog. I just wanted to start with saying that the subscription process is a bit of a song and dance. It reminds me of a certain budget airline’s website – except, frankly, a little worse. So far so irritated!
[Update]
So the pain of the subscription process has worn off – and now I can talk about the tracker itself.
Basically our experience has been good. Used in “live” mode you can pretty much see where your dog is – yes you can hear the barking, you can imagine the carnage – but to have a good idea of where he/she really is helps. Our (daughter’s) dog – ex street – does sometimes go running off after “something” – always comes back, but it can be a worry. This really helps to add reassurance.
One negative – though it feels unfair to mention it since it’s not happened (yet…) The clip used to attach the tracker seems to be a little flimsly. A good collision with e.g. a branch/twig if the dog is moving quickly seems likely to spring it off. We did think it had come off last weekend – turned out that the collar had (plus tracker) – so it was actually really useful in finding both.
Otherwise – highly recommended for peace of mind. Grit your teeth when using the website – I found it irritating and it almost put me off (hence 4 stars not 5).
Reasuring if your dog's recall isnt grea
Awesome piece of kit. Just need mobile signal and I can see exactly where my dog is when out of sight. I have a hunt focused dog who goes off after deer, he goes for miles on a scent. I can track him and move to where he is to make sure he is safe

It’s another tool in your toolbox to help find your missing pooch.
3 Maps styles in the App to choose from and each work well. The track overlay that my dog took is informative. The map shows “you” (phone) and your dog (Tractive). So even with the simple map and no detail you’ll know if heading in the right direction.
Where I walk is a low signal cell phone area. Not sure which types of signals are poor but internet, text and cell phone aren’t always available. It’s a case of moving 20 feet to get a signal. However the Tractive collar and App did a good job. The way I look at it is, if no signal to phone and I lose my dog, get to where there is a signal. If no signal from the Tractive collar then possibly the dog is still in the area of low signal, so keep calling but if she’s heading home where there’s a better signal I’ll see that on the App and head off in the right direction.
The cradle to attach to the collar isn’t suitable for thick collars so cable ties solved that. The clips to hold the Tractive work surprising well.
Subscription was easy to initialise and activation was instant. Two tariffs plus an added cost feature of Tractive Care to insure against loss or damage of the unit on the Premium Package Tariff. .
As far as tools go, I’m happy.

Peace of mind when your cat is outside.
I actually use these for my cats, they clip on to the collar securely and the cats don’t seem to mind wearing them. One cat has lost his collar complete with tracker, I was able to locate this but unable to retrieve it as it was the middle of a very large very thick bramble patch. Tractive were very good and sent a replacement I had taken out the extra tractive care which doesn’t cost very much. The trackers charge quite quickly I usually do it over night. They are mostly accurate on occasions it has told me the cat is somewhere when I can see him in my garden I think if it’s bad weather the signal bounces to any from the nearest satellite.. They are easy to set up on the app on your phone if can do it anyone can. Safe zones can be set on the app so if you cat goes out of the zone you get an alert . I think they are value for money I recommend these trackers. They now make a collar type for cats I have tried one of these but prefer the basic small dog one both are the same cost .

brilliant, easy to use, and great inerface on App and website.
Absolutely fantastic tracker. Saved one of our dog’s life when she got caught a mile away in barbed wire at night, would never have found her. Used two trackers for about 5 years now. Battery still lasts a couple of full days from full charge. Thank you!
Simple, works, does what you require of it.
Its very simple and easy use and great when you get an alarm in case our dogs has escaped from home. And you can train them to come home again by activating the alarm on pet tracker remotely from you smartphone.
New Cat Collar is a winne
I have the new Tractive Cat collar and so far am very impressed. Lighter than the box design and a better fit so I’m less concerned that it will catch on something than I used to be.
The collar fastening mechanism is a bit fiddly – I imagine there is a better way of doing this – but it does seem secure. Probably easier with more practice.
Customer support is excellent. Respond in minutes usually.
Peace of mind when walking the dog
We have a one year old Blue Merle Collie (Harry) who, once off the lead, will run ahead, out of sight and has been known to go more than a mile ahead of us, although he will always come back it is very frustrating as we never know quite which turning he has taken.
This tracker is ideal as long as we are walking where there is a phone signal, we can see exactly where he is in relation to us and if he is heading towards us or away from us. It is quite fun to sit tight and be able to watch on our phones as he heads towards us.
We have it on both of our phones so can split up to track him, when my partners phone battery died she rang me and although more than 100 miles away I was able to tell her where Harry was. It is also interesting to see at the end of the day how many miles Harry has walked a 2 mile walk for us is usually a 6 mile walk for Harry!
The first tracker we bought from a rival worked equally well without a monthly subscription but, and its a big BUT, it wasn’t fully waterproof and died the first time he went under water. We live by the sea and Harry takes a dip every day so we know this one is waterproof so worth the monthly fee.
I notice on previous reviews the collar attachment is criticised – it doesn’t look as though its up to much but have to say after over a months use it is standing up well. There are two attachments provided for different thickness collars so think it is critical to use the correct one.
It does use the batter up on your phones when tracking him – it may be because our I phones are old – we take battery power packs with us just in case. I only use the live tracking now if we are ready to go home and need to find him – usually I just locate him every five minutes or so rather than constantly track him. The battery in the tracker itself I charge every 3 days or so but it has never dropped below 40% so would easily last a day if on him all the time.
So yes we recommend this thoroughly – if you want peace of mind – buy one!
The BEST pet tracker I’ve tried!
This product is incredible – the app is so easy to navigate and really informative and the product itself is amazing. Previous trackers I’ve used always lost signal and thus were useless, but this one rarely has that problem; I’ve had this for a few months now and I cannot think of a single occasion where it has not worked. Yes you do have to purchase a subscription from the website but you don’t have to worry about getting a SIM card etc. The battery life is slightly less than other trackers but as long as you charge it every few days, it should be no problem. It is slightly larger than other trackers I’ve used but nothing overbearing at all. It’s hands down the best tracker on the market for under 100. I would recommend this to any pet owner with an escape artist like my boy!

Great battery life and easy to track movements.
I love the tracker out of all the ones I’ve tried this is accurate and battery life is good. Personally I don’t trust the clips that come with the tracker and have had special pouches made for them. Would be great for tractive to produce a pouch to attach to the collars. I have lost the tracker on few occasions ( not the dogs) and have managed to find them very quickly on the app
A genuine life-saver!
One of our dogs, Molly is a lurcher, and has a tendency to take off at great speed, and ultimately get lost. We’re working hard on her recall, but she still has her moments. So, we bought a Tractive Tracker for her and on several occasions it has proved useful in enabling us to locate her several fields away!
Coverage can on occassion be patchy – we live in a rural area, but normally it doesn’t take long (a couple of minutes), for her signal to be picked up. I would recommend the device to anyone with concerns over locating an animal.
However, I hadn’t reckoned on recent events. My daughter and I were walking in local fields and Molly decided to take herself off. We could see she’d gone into a local farm – then it seemed the signal was lost. We walked around the lanes for a while, and were just going to the other side of the village when we thought we ought to check out the farm, because the image appeared to be in a silage pit.
On first inspection (the pit was the size of a swimming pool) – nothing. I was just walking away, and heard a faint noise. On closer inspection it was the top of Molly’s head – just her ears, eyes and nose. We threw some handy pallets in, which enabled me to kneel and reach her, just as her head went under. So the tracker had been transmitting a genuine signal, we just hadn’t believed it.
Trip to the vets, no harm done, except for the smell! Not only that, the Tractive Tracker still works!
A genuine life-saver!
Fantastic
Fantastic piece of kit Only negative is bracket it fits into falls off, so used a cable strap to make it more secure.
Really useful and reliable
Really useful addition to walking the dog. Can’t replace good recall training but really has helped off lead training knowing that I can track my dog on the rare occasion when she has run off.
Was worried about the size but it’s so light.
I was also originally doubtful that the fastening clip would hold that tracker on the collar but can confirm it does stay on even when dragged through hedges at lurcher speed!
Great tracke
I have had other pet trackers but I think Tractive is the best, a great tracker, and excellent value for money. My only request would be other colours, or a wrap over pouch to disguise the ‘bright white-ness’!
Wish I had bought one soone
My dog is a very good escape artist from.my garden, this tracker allows me to know exactly where she is, best thing I have bough
Peace of mind and easy to set up
This brindle bear loves to follow scents and is often out of sight so I invested in one of these. It has given me total peace of mind, if he’s not on his way back after a couple of calls I ping his tracker so I can see where he is. My favourite part is blowing the whistle and watching him coming back using the Trackactive app.
Good accuracy, rubbish clip
I have had a tractive for my cockerpoo since August. Overall it is a sturdy product anD the GPS accuracy is amazing. So much so that on the two occasions we have lost it we have managed to track it to the exact stop to retrieve it. That takes me to the one drawback. The clip that keeps the tracker onto the collar is flimsy and during rough play can fly off!! I thin’ they need to find a better way of attaching it to the dog
Really good tracke
Really good and pretty accurate tracker with a decent battery life.
Perfect for the Wayward Dog.
This is without doubt a top class product at a great price. It is invaluable. We got a young rescue dog, which was part Beagle and given the chance, forgets any recall and makes off andf chases the local deer. I live in the countryside, and although the dog can come back, I was worried it strayed too far.
Now I can let the dog out in a secure field and know exactly where she is. I know the dog walker has taken her out, and when she is back.
Our last dog walker, took our dog to an area she doesn’t know and our dog escaped. I was able to share the live data with the dog walker, even though I was abroad.
This is an invaluable tool and worth every penny. It even beeps when you switch it on, and our dog knows she’s going for a walk.
I have confidence now that should our dog get off the lead or escape, I know exactly where she is in real time, and can follow her movements.

Essential Ki
If you have a dog that does not want to come back especially a hound then this product is for you!
I have an Ibizan hound and she gets it in her mind to head in one direction and not come back, she can cover a lot of ground in seconds so this device has helped me out on a number of occasions. At at local nature reserve she can be stubborn and head into the trees and not come back so to know where is is in real time on the app is priceless. I have read negative reviews saying that it does not track very well and as it relays on GPS and a 3g signal it is true it can drop out but I have found it to be pretty reliable, the only way you can get a better system is to pay hundreds of pounds, I think the subscription is very reasonable for what you get. great device.
Such peace of mind to know where my dog is on mountain walks : )
The tracker is very reliable and has really cool features, including the virtual fencing, really great view types (satellite etc). it is also light so not too annoying for the dog. The clips however need to be sturdier as ours likes to rub against the ground and managed to get it off (which is how we lost the last one). Otherwise an excellent little device.

Best Tracke
I was looking for a tracker for my wayward cocker spaniel.
After a lengthy search and looking at a number of trackers I decided on Tractive.
Very easy to use and set up.
Unlimited range due to gps and the live tracking is amazing.
Walks are even more fun now giving me the ability to upload walks and even share with friends. Not forgetting the all important peace of mind.
Since purchasing 3 people from my dog club have also purchased a Tractive.
Piece of mind when you have a wandering Pe
We got this for our Griffon Sabueso cross rescue Dog, a dog with a high prey drive. on standard mode it give location every 3-8 min , until I found pressing the “live” word gave a real time readout. the history is limited and I would like to have a save feature for it. battery life is good so far, as long as you remember to switch it off after use. we use ours every walk now and also the fence alerts , which are either round or square. The clip fits well on the dog harness, and we fit it near the top for good signal and the least likely area to be trapped in bushes etc. the only other point to make is that the cost , although it is shown as a monthly price, its a year upfront , this should be made clearer I feel.
Fantastic
Fantastic peace of mind. Great for knowing where my two energetic pointers are. You need a 4G signal to use. Certainly worth the money. In order to improve the clips need to be more secure.

Very good produc
I researched this and Tractive came up tops.. I bought it very easily. I did have some teething problems re payment options and getting my phone to work. The support team were very good although only email option available. Once working it was fantastic.. I love the satellite option in particular. I was worried the tracker might come off but it was very secure.. I have a real monster dog who goes through thickets and water.. I can now track him easily.

The app is very good and makes it simple to use
Arrived quickly and just as fast to register and set up. Gives great peace of mind to leave my dog in the garden unsupervised, if he gets out I’ll know straight away and can hopefully find him quickly. Collar clips don’t looks especially robust but haven’t failed yet so maybe they’re better than they look
Dog Tracke
A reasonable tracker. Not accurate in the house. Ok outside but still trailling it.
Much better than I though
I purchased this tracker after a friend had suggested it. I have been very impressed so far. The battery lasts around 4 days on normal use, you can track your dog and the box sends a signal every 5 mins. The battery does run down quicker if you are using the LIVE part, getting a signal every 1 min, but this is not necessary for normal dog walks. Its been very interesting to see where he has been walked when he has stayed with family. I love being notified when he is being taken out for a walk when I am in another country! I recommend this tracker to everyone who stops me on a walk and asks about it…and after they have seen the app they are suitably impressed too.
Seems to work well (ish)
Works well in open countryside but seems to struggle at times for GPS signal in wooded areas that my phone (using Strava) and my Lezyne cycling computer don’t have issues with. Odd that my cycling computer and phone have no issues but the Tractive does. Maybe it’s because Lezyne and my phone also use / access the GLONASS system as well as normal GPS and maybe Tractive doesn’t??
Tractive makes walking a joy agai
Walking your dog is so therapeutic, unless of course you have a little devil like ours. She just runs off chasing every scent under the sun leaving us fretting. Using the Tractive tracker we can now relax and know where she is. Even if she’s gone too long we can so easily see where she is and know exactly where to go and find the little imp.
It works!
I have only had trackster for nearly 2 weeks now. I have opted for the premium subscription as I wanted the LIVE tracker feature. I have been getting used to the features and although the battery life seems very good, I am remembering to only turn it on at the start of the walk to preserve battery life and turn it off at the end of the walk. I like that you can view using the satellite viewing mode and also you can share with friends or family that also have trackster. My brother took my dog out at the weekend and I tracked my dog. It was funny as it also tracked his journey to and from the walking location and I could tell that my brother reached 38 kph…not sure if that is speeding in a 30 mph speed limit zone! lol

Good tracker as added security against a lost dog
A little bulky but fine on a medium sized dog. We use it in case he gets lost and also if I am out walking, my partner can see where we are via the app and come and meet us which is very handy. Have only had to use in earnest once when the dog went off into the wood and injured itself, then getting a little lost. He was only a few hunder meters away but I don’t know if I would have found him without the tracker. Audible beeb has stopped working but plan to contact them to see if that can be replaced

Excellent device, was worried it wouldn’t work in my area as phone signals aren’t great here but it works very well. The size was another concern but it doesn’t bother either of my dogs. I’m soo pleased I’ll be purchasing another. The only down side is the battery only lasts a couple days and I need to get into the routine of regularly charging it overnight and not forgetting to put it on in the morning but that will becomes habit I’m sure. I like the fact you can change the map view from a standard google like map to satellite or OS and it pinpoints exactly where the dog is and even has camera view and distance arrows to help find you dog! I use it to check my dog walker has taken the dogs out n where they’ve been. Other devices don’t allow this because you have to be within a certain distance of the device, this one however you can be anywhere in the world! Brilliant highly recommend.
Easy to use, long lasting battery and small Monthly payment means peice of mind that you will not loose your dog!! It is quite late which means we only use when walking our dog as we attach to her harness and when in house we do not use. Virtual fence available to put around home so if using all day you get notified when dog has left hour home which is great. Ensure you clip on with larger side of clip facing down so it would not fall off when pooch is running through trees etc. Also has feature of turning on light and sound from your app if you need it. Great item and would not be without now !
Stress free walks.
This is s really great product. I have a Border Terrier who is a free spirit and the Tractive enables me to see just what he is up to when he is out of my sight. Watching where he goes is fascinating and knowing he is just enjoying himself is great.
I wish I had heard about the Tractive 2 years ago when I first rescued my treasure.

Reliable in tracking the dog, good features in the app
Tried several trackers but always go back to Tractive as is the most reliable.
Have a premium subscription and satisfied with custumer service.
Accurate tracker. Easy to use
This tracker is excellent, it has been a godsend for us and our wandering dog. He doesn’t always stray off but when he does the app is right there guiding us in his direction. With the premium subscription other members of the family and dog walker can all track him too. Wouldn’t want to be without it now.
lifsave
Great product, so useful, tracks walks, distance, pin point tracking. Never loose your pet again. Such a peace of mind to know my dog will be safe.
Tremendous Product and Customer Service
The product really works. We have a 16 year old Golden retriever who can tend to get lost in thought on walks so knowing where they is important. I had cause to contact Tractive on a billing issue and a positive responsive from them was immediate and completely to my satisfaction. Great to deal with a Company rightly proud their product and customer centred.
Best on the marke
I’ve tried a couple of different trackers before we settled on the tractive.
The Good:
The standby time is great: charge about once or twice a week. We leave it on all the time in case the dog wanders off.
The (high-power) feature for live tracking isn’t on by default: this means that when I need to chase our dog, I can activate it in about 10 seconds from their app before getting metre-accurate realtime location. Otherwise, location is updated every few seconds. Other trackers, including the cheaper vodafone unit, dont have this option for live tracking.
Its waterproof and works fine on the beach
Customer service seem responsive.
It defaults to “on”
The clip has never once came off. Our golden retriever really put this to the test.
The bad:
As the unit is waterproof, they use a custom connector for recharging which is a little fiddly. It’s “fine” but there’s always a brief moment of hesitation until the charging light comes on. It’s also a bit hard to tidy.
The clip is a bit fiddly, and I often wonder if it’s the most comfortable for our dog.
Brillia
These are brilliant and offer great peace of mind. They get mucky and the batteries only last two days which is a pain but totally worth it.
I’ve never had to use them in an emergency but just through testing them I know they would work really well.
Good but one flaw
Works really well and is very accurate when you turn on live tracking, which is off by default to conserve battery. But you’d only need this if the dog was lost.
Only negative for me is the way it attaches to the collar. It should be a hinged attachment rather than two sets of clips. As it just comes off. So we use tape on one side to create a hinge. Definite design flaw there.
Great piece of mind
Great bit of kit, have used for 5 months now on our young rescued Retriever/ setter mix. He’s run off after deer and foxes a few times and got lost in woods when we’ve been walking. The tracker helps us know exactly how far away and in which direction he’s headed. Only down side is the large clip doesn’t fit on the new collar I’ve bought him
Don't leave home without i
Great little gadget. I bought this to put my mind at rest whilst out walking. My dog doesn’t tend to run off but you never know….
It works great in nearly all the rural areas that we go to. This relies partly on the mobile phone network so there will always be potential black spots but these are few and far between.
Recharges quickly and I probably have to charge it no more than twice a week as I like to keep the battery above 50/60%.
Durable & very easy to use
The Tractive dog Tracker is a fantastic piece of kit for your dogs collar! No more worrying or spending hours looking for my chocolate Labrador who likes to go on adventures into the Scottish countryside. The tracking is very accurate and I have used it to successfully find my dog on a number of occasions. Always connects to app without any problems, battery life is good for a device this small and versatile. I think there could be some improvements to the app, but this might come in future updates. For example you can draw a virtual fence around your property for notifications when your pet leaves the safe zone. However you are restricted by drawing the safe zone in the shape of circle or rectangle. It would be good to draw a custom line around your exact property boundaries. It would also be good if you could share your dogs location with friends or other tractive owners and almost create a community so if your dog does go missing, you can enroll the help of local users to help track your pet. Overall I love this product and I would recommend to anyone….in fact I do recommend it to everyone I speak with who has problems with their dog running off! It’s great!
Good Tracker, Great Price
I purchased the tracker for our very energetic dog who loves to explore on her own. The tracker has been very useful in keeping an eye on where she’s got to. Creating a GPS fence and recieving alerts when she leaves a specific area is very useful. The only negative so far is that the clip which connects the device to her collar isn’t very strong and has been knocked off once or twice. Although some tape wrapped round a couple of times would be enough to hold it.
Worth it's weight in gold!
We have a Romanian street pup who had had no human contact when we bought her home. Twice on our walks she had slipped the lead and run off when something or someone scared her. I don’t know what I would have done without her tracker. Now, she walks off lead and I have total recall with her. She still wears her tracker so when she’s off chasing the crows in the fields, I can monitor her without the panic settings in. (No birds have ever been caught even though she can out run a greyhound!) I highly recommend this tracker and the easy to use App.
Peace of mind.
Our dog is a rescue Shepherd and a right Houdini. After losing her a couple of times and being lucky to get her back we decided to get a tracker.
The Tractive seemed to offer what we were looking for so we bought one.
We haven’t had to use it in anger yet but it is fitted to her collar whenever we take her out and gives great peace of mind.
It is very easy to set up and use although we have added a Velcro plant tie around it for extra security.
We would have preferred a black one so as to be less visible against the dogs coat but didn’t realise that they were available at the time.
If my partner is coming to visit me at work she puts it on the car dashboard so that I can track her approaching the security gate and meet her as she arrives.
Customer services is spot on; ours developed a fault shortly after renewal so they sent a new one quite quickly.

No problems - Happy purchase
After a lot of research I chose the “Tractive Classic” and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. We have a young Portuguese Pointer and re-call is a huge problem as once she is focused on something she is off. We had to keep her on a long line for fear of losing sight of her. By fitting the tracker to her harness it has given us the confidence to let her off the lead in the knowledge that if we lose sight of her we know we are walking towards her and not in the wrong direction.
As a sceptic, I started with a one month basic subscription but have just changed that to annual premium. A subscription is so much easier than messing around with pay as you go sim cards and it works really well.
You must understand that there are basically two technologies and nothing is perfect. This is true of every tracker. The tracker has to receive a GPS signal. If you are in dense woodland or a building or GPS dead spot, it will not pick up a signal, nothing will. It helps to position the tracker on a harness on the dog’s back to give it the best chance of a signal. That is a limitation of GPS, not Tractive.
The next requirement is a phone signal. Having determined its location using GPS, Tractive has to communicate that via mobile phone technology. If you are in a mobile phone dead spot then of course it cannot work. It will, however keep trying. By briefly pressing the on/off button it will flash a code to show if you have a GPS connection / Phone connection, neither or both.
Charging the device is simple, it is waterproof and robust. The clip on holder used to attach the device to a harness or collar is better and more effective than it looks.
Mapping is excellent and live tracking nothing short of brilliant.
I only have one dog, one device and one account but I can give the login details of that account to other family members and we can all simultaneously track the dog wherever we may be. I can be at home watching live tracking on my phone or PC at the same time as my son many miles away is out walking the dog across open farmland tracking on his mobile phone. If they have the account password, anyone can see the track. Obviously, if you want privacy, don’t give out the account name and password! It’s up to you. In my view having several people able to see the track is really nice.
One last thing…. When I wanted to change my subscription I used the online chat facility of Tractive and “Zara” was very helpful. My impression is that the company would be responsive to helping with any problems.
Frankly, the price is low enough that if it got lost or “chewed to bits” I would just go out and buy another one and then transfer any remaining subscription to the new device.
One last thing…. battery life is described as a couple of days. There is a more expensive model with a longer lasting battery but it is quick and simple to charge and if I did “lose” my dog, a few hours or a day or so should be plenty of time to locate her.
My main use is so that if I let her off the lead and she runs out of sight across farmland or open woodland, I know I am walking towards her and not away from her. Knowing where she is just gives that added assurance even if she may be temporarily out of sight.
Game change
Brilliant, totally changed our walks and if Coops disappears just turn it on and look to see which part of the woods he is in.
Think it was around about Christmas when for an afternoon there was no service at all so he couldn’t be tracked. There was a comment on the website informing people of this and I guess if service fails it fails, like O2 or BT having an outage.

Excellant tracke
I have had this tracker for 2 years after losing my Collie dog for 3 days after running off. He runs off after hearing gunshots, thunder , fireworks ect. Since buying the tracker he has run off 4 times and I have found him within the hour.Once near Cardiff on Christmas night he travelled over 6 mls before we found him in a field using the live tracking on the smart phone app. The tracker has never fallen off using the tractive collar and clips
The tracker is accurate to within several metres and the gps signal reliable. The mapping is clear and up to date with the safe zone boundary warning alerting me to his wandering .
As such the tracker has removed the worry and I can thoroughly recommend this produc
Works really well
After using few different trackers for our very energetic husky with various levels of success we decided to try Tractive. We’ve been using it for over a year now and have an overall very good experience. Few points for consideration:
1. The area we walk our dog has a very decent mobile signal which means the tracker works fine and is very accurate. It works well even in quite dense woodland and had no issue with it at all.
2. My initial concern was the way it clips to the collar – wasn’t sure if it is sturdy enough however after a year of constant use it is still as good as on a first day.
3. It worked perfectly when we went abroad – no issues at all.
4. Charging can be a bit of a challenge – my mother-in-law struggled to position the prongs correctly to charge the tracker due to her bad eyesight.
5. App is very easy to use and does not require any technical knowledge at all. Can be set up at multiple of devices which is very handy.
6. Quite useful to track hubby while he walks the dog 😉
Overall it does what it says, is very reliable and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.
Peace of mind with our Little Explore
We have been using this product for quite some time now and would say it is a great device and app that allows us to track our dog when she decides its time to run in the woods exploring. It gives peace of mind when you can Live Track her movements on your phone. As the device and app uses the best available network, it is always there to use.
We would highly recommend the product.
I absolutely love this device!
I chose this particular band for its many features.
When we got our two litter brothers, we were oblivious and somewhat naive about kitties wandering off and not returning.
So we didn’t fret too much after a day or two of Smudge being gone as we honestly believed he would return home.
Fudge became withdrawn and slept all day and kept us awake all night. I refused to let him go out. Then I heard about Tractive. Sceptical and dubious, I went ahead and purchased the unit and signed up for the annual sub. Fudge is now allowed out again but only when he has his tracker on. He associates the beep of the tractive being switched on to the window being opened. Although I still behave like a mother hen, I can now have peace of mind when Fudge goes on his little adventures because I can track him real time providing the satelight isn’t being blocked.
The only niggle I have which is really small is that when Fudge sneaks back in to the house the system sends updates to my phone to say he has left or entered the virtual/safe zone.
However… I’m sure that would be a small tweak for the developer to fix.
Smudge didn’t return…it’s been 5 months now. If he did return, he would have two choices.. be grounded or have a Tractive device. Personally .. the Tractive is the best option. If kitty gets stuck.. you can find him. If it’s dark, you can activate the light on the device so kitty lights up. It is easy to recharge and you can see the battery level from your phone. Don’t forget though, you do still need to microchip your pets and ensure your details are kept updated on the system.

Very good value for the money you pay against other similar systems. Would buy again.
I am very pleased with the Tractive I did have a problem with the last iPhone upgrade but my dealings with the company on line where good. I did have to do some of the investigation myself but this was partly due to the Xmas holidays. However, it was my son’s suggestion to do a complete re-start of my phone that sorted the problem in the end. Lots of emails back and forth. Does drop gps sometimes but I can normally get it back quickly. Would I buy again, yes for the money it works very well. Even sent me a free clip recently. All working very very well now after reviewing again once used tracker for longer. So glad I got it. They have been incredibly helpful via email. Not had to phone them so can’t comment on that.
Great piece of kit and software
One of our dogs used to wonder off on an extend walk ever so often, however now we know exactly where he is.
Additionally he knows the sound of the tracker being turned on and doesn’t even try to play up!
It wasn’t cheap to buy the five years advance membership, however very worth while for piece of mind on the additional family member.

Peace of mind with a Beagle
Good when the GPS works (some areas doesn’t track at all) and the customer service team are really helpful
Provides reassurance
I lost a dog last year. It was one of the most traumatic things to happen. Since then my two remaining dogs wear Tractive trackers at all time. It updates the position roughly every 15 minutes. I’ve set a safe zone and it alerts me fairly rapidly (but not instantly) if they wander beyond it. When switching to live tracking it can sometimes take several attempts until it establishes GPS or mobile signal. The clasps for the collar could be better. One has snapped, one is lost after the tracker fell off several times. I charge them every night, but it can, just about, get two days use from it, but I don’t like leaving it on the dogs 24 hours. One Tractive unit failed after 11 months but Tractive happily replaced it. It provides a lot of reassurance for me to have this back-up.

Works well and does what’s advertised
I have been using Tractive dog gps tracker everyday for 3 months now overall I would say it is an excellent device and well worth the money for the pease of mind it gives to me.
I regularly use the dog walk app feature that long the route and distance my dog has walked.
I haven’t had need to use the live tracking feature as my dog hasn’t run off. However knowing I have this option allows me to be more confident with him being off lead during recall training.
I find the battery lasts for a whole day when the Tractive is always switched on and longer if it is only switched on while out on walks. I charge it every night when my dog is asleep as I would a mobile phone.
The features I wasn’t so keen on and would like to see improved is the way the tracker clips to my dogs collar. I have found that it’s not particularly secure and has fallen off quite a few times this is especially problematic for my boisterous puppy who likes to rub up against things and then knocks the tractive device off. I have solved this problem for now by using an elastic band around the device to hold the clip in position more tightly but it would be nicer not to need to use a diy solution.

Large for a cat but does the job.
Quite big, but our cat doesn’t seem to mind. Generally good coverage in our area and the battery lasts a couple of days. Really stops us worrying when he doesn’t come home and let’s us see where he goes… Which is much further than we thought!
Great durable tracke
I love this product it takes all the stress out of walking my adventurous dog as I always know where he is. Very durable been everywhere, sea, rivers and still works very well. Great product for a great price.
It works well
Good app that is straightforward to use. If you use the right collar clip, seems to fit well and stand up to some rough dog play. Really happy with the ki
Robust and reliable
A great little device to keep track or find my errant springer spaniel. It is robust and has stayed securely on his collar despite being dragged through tangles of brambles and puddles. It even copes with the steep slopes and cliffs in our local area though very occasionally the signal drops out. Highly recommended.
Good accurate device
Good battery life, easy to use, not to big so doesn’t drag our small dog down.
Rosie's Tractive - battered but unbowed!
Rosie has worn her Tractive every day for more than a year now. Rosie is a very active dog, is rarely on the lead, usually running free over open ground, and through trees and heavy undergrowth. Most days she has a swim in the local river, and she loves a dip in the sea. The Tractive has worked faultlessly since day one. On the few occasions when Rosie has disappeared, I was able to locate her and track her down using the Tractive app on my phone. At the end of October this year, Rosie was struck by a car. The impact threw Rosie (and her Tractive) about 30 feet along the road. Fortunately, apart from three broken teeth and a number of cuts and grazes, Rosie suffered no major injuries. As can be seen from the photograph, her Tractive also took a severe battering when Rosie hit the road, and bounced and rolled. I can’t believe it’s still working – but it is! I am delighted with Rosie’s Tractive. For a small monthly fee, I know I can rely on it to find her if she disappears again. I also know it is rugged enough to go anywhere Rosie goes, and keep working.
Excellent device which creates peace of mind on walks with our very active dog.
We have a Tractive tracker for our lively dog and we are able to relax in the knowledge we can locate him should he wander off the beaten track…which he often does! The tracker appears to be exceptionally accurate. We recently misplaced the device somewhere close to home. We managed to locate it in the garage, inside a shoe using the GPS and by activating the sound option!
Great for cats too
I got this tracker for my wandering cat. We haven’t had her very long, she is a rescue cat but as she is an adult that is used to outdoor access she isn’t very keen to stay in for long. She has wandered off a little too far on a couple of occasions & not been able to make her way home. Luckily, thanks to Facebook appeals, she has been found each time.
When the tracker arrived she was still AWOL so I tested it on my other cats. It was awesome, one cat goes between 3 houses on the street as he’s very lazy, the other one has had a stern telling off for crossing a main road by himself!
My wandering cat has been wearing the tracker for a few weeks now, it was immediately attached to her collar the second I collected her from the pub (obviously knew it was only a matter of time before I found her!) & it’s brilliant. She wanders far & wide but luckily has managed to find her way home. I particularly like being able to do live tracking, it means I can watch her getting closer as I shout her to come home.
The only downside is the subscription fee but I had already done my research so it wasn’t a surprise. Just wish they did a discount on subscriptions if you get more trackers. I’d love to be able to track all 4 of my cats & see where they go when they are let loose!
Great Trackers
The peace of mind these give you is best. When you have dogs that like to range these devices are ideal. Accurate and waterproof.
I’d just recommend getting a second phone or second SIM (on a dual SIM phone), and on another network if you walk in a weaker reception area.
Works well, if GPS signal adequate.
We have a spaniel beagle cross and she likes to chase deer and squirrels and her recall when doing so is very poor so she can easily get lost. We have had the tracker for a year now and it has enables us to find her on several occasions. Good things are the ease of use, good battery life, good app and once tracking it is very accurate. Poor things are the clip that holds the tracker to the collar (the tracker was knocked of three times over the first weeks especially if the dog puts it head through a stock fence and pulls back catching the clip so we have purchased a small pouch to hold the tracker) and in woodland it can take two or three minutes for the tracker to connect to the app (partly an issue of the GPS signal under trees and maybe the pouch we have to use). Have no experience of other trackers but this one works for us. Beware the annual cost for the subscription is around 75, which includes insurance.
op tracke
Top dog tracker, accuracy OK (although not as accurate as i’d like) but the alerts and tracking are great features. Works in any range as it works on the cellular network not bluetooth (latter wouldn’t work for my dog – she’s fast).
Would recommend to anyone worried about pet disappearing on long walks.
Our rescue dog Suzi loves, loves loves to be let off the lead on country walks. There is only one thing she loves more, which is chasing deer. She isn’t fast enough to even get close to catching them, but by the time she’s worked this out again she can be 2km away from me. (I know this now because I purchased a Tractive.)
Having nearly lost poor Suzi in the New Forest, we were both enduring miserable walks on the lead, which were approximately 95% less fun all round. That was until I did some research and purchased a Tractive.
Switch it on, clip it onto the collar, use the LED on the front to check you have GPS and mobile network coverage and off you go. (If you don’t have network coverage, leave the dog on the lead you one star review people – jeez, take responsibility for your own decisions!) The device will initially track position every few minutes. If the dog disappears, whip out your phone, activate Live Tracking and see within 20 seconds the dog’s location, distance and bearing from where you are in real time, all on open street map or satellite view. (FYI, to make the most of this, you need to make sure you turn on “Show Compass” in settings on the app.)
Attached is what happened the last time we had a deer chase. Thirty minutes into the walk and BOOM – the dog is gone. The deer bound casually into the woods, the dog follows and I’m running behind clutching my phone (but at least I’m not yelling “FENTON!” at the top of my voice). Ten minutes later, the dog stops running and starts to circle, I quickly get within whistling distance and the dog turns and walks straight towards me, eventually popping out of the hedge as if nothing has happened. Click goes the lead on the collar and we get back to our walk. OK, so I’m now trespassing in someone else’s woodland, but at least I’m not contemplating living in a hotel after being divorced for losing the dog.
Within the real world limitations of GPS and mobile networks, this device is absolutely brilliant. It is a great compromise between size and weight vs. battery life and for 40 and a 10p per day subscription, it is very good value. The fact that it only uses the battery sapping live tracking function when you really need it is absolute genius.
I love that such a small startup has solved a very difficult problem and made my dog walks so much more fun. Hats off to you at Tractive – your product is very, very good.
And to most of the naysayers and their ill considered one star reviews – honestly, RTFM people.
Works well - AR is very helpful
This brings a huge peace of mind when my dog is off lead. I no longer worry where she is when she has a run around the woods. Live tracking is pretty good and the Augmented Reality (AR) function in the app is brilliant. The subscription fees are reasonable too. Two things that could be better… a battery level indicator in the app so I’m not constantly neurotically charging it and also, the device switches on when you charge it. You must remember to switch it off after charging otherwise the battery will start to drain. These are only minor issues in what is otherwise a very good piece of tech.
A note when signing up for the subscription: I had a minor hiccup with the online payment for the subscription where the website gave an error and I ended up paying twice on my credit card. Didn’t notice until I got my statement 17 days later.
The refund policy is 14 days so if it the website glitches on you check your statement quickly. Thankfully a very kind and rapid customer support person at Tractive arranged a refund. Definitely recommend!
The tracker build quality is excellent and I have to say it worked perfectly straight out of the box. After a few days the tracker picked up the mobile phone signal but not the GPS signal. Tractive customer service were excellent and after numerous attempts at trying to remotely sole the issue I’ve had to have a replacement device sent out. I could still locate our dog using the device but I could not live track it. Although I’ve had an issue with the device the customer service, what the device could still do whilst defective and the great deal on the subscription I paid all combined makes me award five stars.

Great as my dog tends to escape, very accurate tracking which has been a relief, easy to use – very good when following escaped pet as shows where you are in relation to the tracker… just remember to charge every two days or so, great relief for doggie to have this tracke
The Safety of our dog Isla
Great product. Thankfully Isla has never ran off. I can let her out into the garden and would be alerted if she left it. Its also good while on holidays as she wouldn’t know her way back if she got spooked but we could find her in minutes. Isla also is forever swimming with it on and have had no problems. I would recommend this product for peace of mind.
