Easy to use and accurate
Have now used this many times and find it easy to use for making accurate and throng but joint have used it to make several face framed cabinets as well as other small projects.

Bought to build myself a log store, worked flawlessly, although I’d pick up a second bag of screws, the ones supplied don’t go very far when your pocket holing everything in sight,
I’d pocket hole this review if I could!
Very easy to use, but lacks some of the features of a KREG.
It also seems that Trend have stopped manufacturing the pocket screws. Maybe thats why it was nearly 50 off when I bought it.

A Real Trend Sette
So glad I bought this version instead of the well known American brand. A much more reasonable price and it works perfectly with one small irritation: the two hole guides can only widen by a small amount so I need to move the workpiece for each hole. I appreciate you can only accommodate some requirements with one tool so I it is not a serious complaint. I have mounted mine to a board to support wide pieces and to clamp the tail to ensure stability, this is not something I expect the manufacturers to make and it is easy to add. I have been using it for a few weeks making kitchen cabinets and I am very pleased with the result. It is advisable to have a tool or jig holding the two pieces to be joined as the side with the holes tends to move “inwards” when screwed. Again, I made a simple jig to hold both side square while screwing and that is fine.

Very good jig, leaves clean cut holes. There is no extraction facility with this unit though which you need to extract the chippings when you are drilling the holes to keep the guide holes clear. You could use a vac to clear the waste between drilling. I have made a “T” shaped stand for my unit and fitted extraction facility and it works perfectly.

Conceptually and quality wise this is a very good product.
Sadly the same cannot be said for the drill bit supplied with the item. The very first time that the bit was inserted into the drill guide and made contact with the wood (oak) the pilot part of the bit shattered into several pieces.
I can get round the problem with the aid of a 2mm drill to finish off the pilot hole, but should I have to do this?
Otherwise an excellent piece of kit.

This is a good piece of kit, easy to use, well made and does the job it is supposed to do.
If you are thinking of buying this tool then take note, the screws included are for hardwood and not really suitable for soft wood. If you are using softwood then order some course thread screws at the same time so you can use the jig when it arrives.

One of the best purchases I have made, love it. I havent used a Kreg and I am sure there are benefits to the Kreg. But I mainly use 18mm MDF and this has been perfect for much cheaper – why buy what you dont need?

If anyone from the Trend company reads this, I’d like to make ONE very simple but important suggestion to increase customer satifaction with their purchase;
When pocket holes are required in 2 inch/50mm wood, the jig has to be unscrewed and readjusted – leaving to of the fixing exposed and ready to blocked with sawdust. There are 6 fixing holes in the jig, but only 4 screws.
SUGGESTION: Supply TWO extra screws with every jig in order to prevent the threaded holes being clogged with sawdust.

This is a very nice piece of kit. Makes joining timber so much better than regular fixings alone. For joining edge to edge or at right angles. Nice price, and prompt delivery.

This is an awesome product. Comes with everything you need. Intact that was it’s only let down…. The clamp that came with it came with a twisted adjustment pin so I am unable to use it. Such a shame because this could have been a 5 star product.

Great jig. I read the negative review that says it is no good as you can’t adjust for wood depth, but ignored this as I thought I didn’t care. Now I’ve used it I can see this limitation is a bit annoying but for the price I am really happy with it. Would have spent at least twice as much to get another decent brand jig. Have used it to make a table and bench. Great purchase for a diy’er.

Habe mich sehr ber die Trend Pocket Hole Jig gefreut. Das Werkzeug ist sehr gut und wertig Verarbeitet — Wie nicht anders von Trend zu erwarten. Ich habe mich u.a. fr die Bohrvorrichtung von Trend entschieden, da diese komplett aus Metall ist. Der Marktfhrer K***” verwendet hier einen hochwertigen Kunststoff.
Wichtig zu wissen: Mit dieser Trend Bohrvorrichtung lassen sich zwar Verbindungen von Brettstrken zwischen 16 mm und 38 mm herstellen, aber optimal ist die Vorrichtung fr die Verwendung von 19 mm Brettern (+/-) geeignet — nur dann befindet sich der Auslass der Bohrung in der Brettmitte.
Hier gibt es ein anderes Model von Trend (Trend PH AK Pocket Hole Jig) — Hier kann u.a. die Brettstrke (wie auch bei dem Model von K***) individuell voreingestellt werden. Somit ist der Auslass der Bohrung immer mittig im Brett — Das ist nicht ohne Sinn.
Da ich nur selten Brettstrken jenseits von 20 mm verwende, spielt diese Funktion fr mich jedoch keine Rolle und htte den Aufpreis zum erweiterten Model nicht gerechtfertigt.
Bislang habe ich meine selbstgebauten Mbelstcke (Regale, kleine Tische und einfache kleine Schrnke) mit Hilfe einer Flachdbelfrse hergestellt und fest verleimt. Das hat jedoch den Nachteil, dass ich die Mbelstcke nur montiert” transportiert werden knnen bzw. eine Demontage nicht mehr mglich ist. Meine Idee war, Mbelstcke so zu konstruieren, dass ich die einzelnen Bretter weiterhin mit Flachdbel zusammenfge aber diese nicht mehr verleime sondern mit Pocket Holes verschraube.
Die ganze Sache hat bei einem ersten Projekt sehr gut funktioniert. Durch die zustzliche Verwendung der Flachdbel ist auch sichergestellt, dass sich die Bauteile beim verschrauben nicht verschieben und somit eine einwandfreie saubere und bndige Verbindung entsteht.
Fazit: Top Produkt, einfache Handhabung und klare Kaufempfehlung
Easy for a first time
Planned to build several sets of shelving in my garage and needed something to secure some framd cross members underneath the plywood shelves. This fitted the bill perfectly. First time I used such a jig and the instructions were easy to follow. Screws with square socket (not hex) more expensive than they should be, but Screwfix held extra when the supplied ran out for me.

Man(n) lernt immer noch dazu. Neben den bewhrte Lamellos kann ich nun eine weitere Verbindungsmethode nutzen fr meinen Mbelbau. Mein erstes Projekt mit dieser Methode ist eine Truhe aus Eiche.

I used this jig for the first time to construct a 4 poster bed for my granddaughter, I practised a few times and set it up for my material which was 38mm thick. The joints pulled in well and finished nice and square. More expensive units give you an option to drill at a greater angle for thicker materials but are a lot more expensive. This did it for me.
It is important when drilling the drill bit enters the hole of the jig squarely to prevent metal being cut away from the top of the jig. Draw the bit in and out a few times when drilling to clear wood dust. Remember for soft woods use a coarse screw and practise with screw lengths to get the best depth into the joining piece.

Der Taschenbohrer ist perfekt. Wer gutes massives sowie funktionierendes Werkzeug mag kommt um dieses Hilfsmittel nicht herum. Die Ausstattung ist hier bereits komplett. Bits, Musterschrauben 100St. Eine Zwinge sowie Inbusschluessel und eine Bedienungsanleitung liegen bei genau so zum Bohrer der Tiefenanschlag. Die Bedienung ist einfach das Ergebnis perfekt.

Nice well made piece of equipment. Takes a little while to get the hang of it, but it does produce good results. You need an accurate chopsaw.
Arrived with parts missing which was sorted out by Amazon so no problem with that these things happen … had my first go today mad a small table top and have to say I am very impressed with how easy this is to use ended up with a small table top in 1 hour … tbh most of that time was spent sawing the wood y hand and setting the jig up for the first time …. over all really glad I bought this can see many projects coming up in the near future 🙂

I brought this to help make a computer table.
I saw it demonstrated at Screwfix live, so knew what it could do already.
It is very easy to use, and boy, does it make basic woodwork construction easy! We made the table frame in minutes!
Build quality is very good too, all metal construction. I looked at other (cheaper) products out there, and opted to pay the extra for this. The built in clamp is worth it alone, as this is quite possibly what makes it such a quick item to use. We used loose on the work bench, but it does have screw holes to fix it down. I guess if you were using it for light manufacturing (ie. the same action time and time again) then this would be of great use too.
Once you have set the clamp for the depth of wood you are using (I was using 19mm spruce and 18mm MDF) it takes seconds to clamp the wood in place then drill the holes. If you use two drills (one with the drill bit and one with the special driver) then the process takes less than a minute.
The screws for it are expensive, but they work perfectly. As I use it more, I will experiment with standard bulk buy wood screw.
The ‘blurb’ says it is for using to clamp joints whilst wood glue sets. All the joints I made I glued as well, then used the included screws to hold in place. You could use it with out the glue (which they were doing at the live show), but overall may not be as strong.

This is a great product. It is quick to learn to use and very quick to actually use. Trend specific screws, and screw driver attachment for the supplied square head screws are supplied but I am sure other appropriate type and size of screws will do the job just as well, though a little experimentation may be required. So much easier and quicker than using dowels when appropriate.

A great piece of kit I wish I’d bought one sooner. I was dubious about how good the joints would be but it’s amazing how strong they are even before the glue has set as long as you cut your timber square, I’d recommend using a circular saw or compound saw for the best results. While the pocket hole screws are good they are quite expensive and not so easy to come by if you run low on a project. I’ve found self tapping screws to be just as good in pine, 18mm ply wood and MDF. As a bonus they are a lt cheaper as well.
This is a great product! It comes with all the bits you need to make the pocket hole joints including the jig, screws, drivers and drill bit.
One thing to note there is a maximum depth to which the clamp can be adjusted so for example it won’t clamp 2×2″ stock which is what I was using. However you can just use a normal quick grip style clamp to clamp the timber against the vertical posts which works absolutely fine.
It would be good if it came with the plug cutter included as well for the price.

Easy to set up and use to make joints for a wide variety of joinery applications.
I actually bought this about 7 years ago when I bought it to build some kitchen cabinets from birch ply and it did it’s job perfectly. It’s been used regularly ever since and provides a really convenient way for creating quick, robust joins. One of the best DIY purchases I ever made and is still going strong.
A note about the Trend square drive screws that come with this – you don’t have to use them, you can just use normal #6 pozi drive self tapping screws which are a lot easier to find, (plus if you lose your square drive bit you don’t have to spend 10 for another!) although the Trend ones are very good quality.
