Bought this bar to use with home PT sessions over Zoom. Used stand-alone and with bands for assisted pull ups, face pulls, tricep pull downs etc.

It did take me about 15 / 30 minutes to work out how to securely attach it (key is to get it in place then twist the middle bar the right way) but once you’ve got the hang of it it’s easy to put up and down.

Totally secure even when using bands or dead hangs. Doorframe paint might need a touch up in the future but to be expected when using this equipment.

    Overall happy with the purchase.

I was a little bit dubious about door pull up bars but this one is excellent. Very easy to set up and if the instructions seem a little vague there is a great video on Youtube to set it up safely. I weigh about 75Kg and it easily takes my weight without budging. All in all very happy with my purchase.

The pole seems very sturdy in my doorway and was simple to assemble. I probably wouldn’t keep moving it up and down the doorway for different activities as it does leave a slight superficial mark, as you’d expect when it’s pushing so hard against the paintwork. It’s also very easy to grip, which is important for me because I have small hands.

The bar looks sturdy and well made. Unfortunately, it wasnt suitable for my door frame, but the customer support was excelent and I am in the process of receiving a refund. So my five star rating reflects the overall experience.

    East to fit.
The doorway that it is in is exactly 73 cm.
I feel quite confident trusting my full weight on the bar (90 Kg)
For any one who has not used this kind of exercise equipment before keep in mind the following.
Exercises using weights you would normally start with low weight and slowly increase each exercise session.
Pullups and chin ups you start using your full body weight so don’t be disheartened if you find it almost impossible to do a full chin up or pull up.
It is important though that you stick at it as improvement can bee seen in as shot a time as a week.

Does what it says on the ti

Great that no screwing into the door frame is required.

Seems sturdy and I haven’t fallen on my arse yet. It’s a well built piece of kit only let down on the quality stakes by the flimsy Quick release clips that lock the bar in place once extended to the appropriate length.

These clips don’t need to be moved once the bar is in situ so should be fine. I would be more concerned if I was moving the bar frequently.

Easy to assemble once we’d worked out the diagram. Fits the door frame well and is still there after multiple uses so appears sturdy enough.

I feel completely secure when using this bar. I went for the non screw option where it twists into place and there isn’t even a hint of give. There is no sign of it damaging the doorframe and it’s unobtrusive enough to be left up between uses – at least in an empty doorframe/where the door does not need to be closed.

I was a bit skeptical about getting this bar. I expected it to fail and to end up with both a broken tail bone and broken nose, I am pleased to say that has not happened to me… yet! In fact this fits very securely across my flat door frames.
The bar leaves minor marks on the frame however you cannot see these unless you are really looking for them.

The gripping pads are not very good but replacements or gloves can be sought, or just do away with them all together.

Nice product with good finish. Stable so far. However, the images for the product are quite misleading. The maximum width you would be able to grip at is 46cm from little finger to little finge

I think this was a perfect choice. I received it today, installation was relatively easy. The bar feels very solid and the mechanism very safe as the pressure is spread horizontally. I chose this product, as most other constructions require too much space on the door frame and a lot of the simpler constructions just don’t feel very safe as they don’t have this mechanism that spreads the force to the side – I still need my teeth for a couple of years after all.

A solid piece of engineering it works extremely well. Unfortunately for me the sideways stresses caused when I used the bar caused the plaster on my walls to crack so I had to return the bar which was a real shame as I think its a great product if a little pricey.

Decent pull up bar, feels sturdy enough but the grips are very poorly made and are basically unusable after about a week if you are using the bar as you can see in the photos.
Would have given it 5 star otherwise

What attracted me to this pull up was the fact theres no drilling included, its portable and it looked sturdy looking at the images and hinge system. I was correct. Now don’t get me wrong some parts are made from cheaper materials so there is a higher tier but given the price its good quality. It was straight forward to assemble and I use it daily. It doesn’t hurt your hands when using it either.

I have had this for a couple of months now and after having installed this initially it hasn’t budged an inch. Solid as a rock. I use it to exercise it on a daily basis and I haven’t had any concerns in terms of stability, grip or sturdiness. This thing will not move. Granted it did crack the paint on my walls but I put it in a cupboard so not that stressed about that. For reference I weigh roughly 200 lbs and this thing can take my weight without any issue.

So this product looks great and would be super effective but it wasn’t suited to my door frame unfortunately (I blame the eggshell paint ). Customer service were super helpful and refunded me without having to return the product, which was very convenient given the pandemic! Very much appreciate how helpful they were 🙂

Really good quality. I’m about 90kg and this feels rock solid for me.

I’ve had none of the issues some other reviewers have mentioned with the locking mechanism getting loose. I suspect this is because I change which direction I’m facing depending on if I’m doing pull-ups or chinups. By doing this all your weight is continually tightening the mechanism and it shouldn’t ever come loose.

Smells like industrial dropshipping rather than a particularly Amazon design, but it fits securely in the doorway and seems to take the weight. Time will tell if it leaves marks. Easy to install once you figure it out, not sure it’s convenient enough to regularly remove though. Would be nice if you could put your arms slightly wider, but to be honest it’s fine for me and if you want anything more flexible you might just want a full free-standing frame.

Great product, looked for ages and was recommended this by mates in Army. Can be installed without damaging frames, might leave slight marks on door from blue feet, but holds solid. Do ensure you wind it out fully when installing otherwise it will slip, even if you think it’s tight enough. Does state this in instructions but thought I would reiterate it after mine slipped on initial install, not the products fault, percent mine!

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI’d been considering buying one of these for a while, only I wanted something I could hide away when I had visitors.

My main concern before buying this was with it being loose and causing myself an injury.

This is a really sturdy design (it weighs a ton!) and is built so that it’s feet “push out” a bit when you pull down on it. This ensures it stays where it is supposed to.

Being worried about headbutting the top of my door frame, I’ve had this set at waist height and used it to start with some easier pullups to start with. This felt safer and I was relieved that it didn’t leave any blue marks or indentations in the door frame I had chosen to use it on. (Albeit, I did choose a sturdy frame in our garage that nobody would care about if something did happen.)

Well worth a buy if you don’t want to look like an idiot on the pullup bars at your local park!

Delivery was fast and rapid as usual. I’ve been wanting to get back into my fitness for a while and especially with everything that’s going on right now, my local gym being shut, it’s hard to keep up with it; so this pull up bar really helps me maintain the fitness at home
I love that you don’t need to screw or drill into the walls for it, you just adjust the tightening on the bar and adjust the width depending on your requirements. Make sure it is tight to support your weight!
Quality is excellent and the pads make it comfortable to do the pull ups

This is a great item, set up is easy and the bar is extremely sturdy once you get it into position, which at first might be tricky but after that is easy. It’s expensive for what it is, but is does what it says and won’t leave a mark on your door frame!

The door frames in my house aren’t big enough to screw in a pull-up bar, so I was looking for something that was genuinely “no-screws”. There’s a few that claim it, but they all have these little metal brackets you have to screw in for the bar – they don’t feel sturdy enough with them.

Zero idea how it actually works, but you can see yourself when using it that it’s got no chance of falling so long as you twist the central bar tight. I’m a guy over 6ft and it feels really stable as all hell. Took zero time to get it up as it’s already pre-built.

This has a very secure mechanism – it’s been used for a while now and hasn’t moved at all. I chose to put it in a door frame that has solid brick wall, which probably helps both stability and preventing any damage.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThe bar comes in plain packaging that belies what’s inside.
And what’s inside is a mobile torture chamber!!!
It’s really easy to fit to a standard doorframe by simply twisting the centre section until its really tight and then closing the two locking pins and ensuring that the unit is the correct way round. If this is done, it’s then IMPOSSIBLE to dislodge during use.
As for use, the two padded grips reduce pressure on the hands and make rotation during exercise easier.
I thought I was fairly fit until I tried this out after watching YouTube vids for beginners. All I can say is my aches have aches. I really really do need to build up my upper body strength!
However, now I’ve got this superb piece of kit, I have no excuses and will update this review with a video once I can do a pull up without major discomfort!!!

OMG! I didn't realise how bad my upper body strength was!!!

Great bar. Not quite as easy to put up and take down as you’d think. Once it’s in place it’s completely solid though. Only tiny gripe is the grip is a little narrow for me. I feel like I want my hands a bit wider. Apart from that it’s prefect for what it is.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI’m confident this is one of the very best pull-up/chin-up bars available on Amazon — it may, in fact, be the best.

Quality-wise, it is build to last this lifetime and many lifetimes thereafter! Definitely will not break / get damaged.

The securing mechanism is a work of art: Intelligently thought-out, very well manufactured and easy to install / adjust. The design very cleverly forces more securement onto the door frame the more weight one puts onto the bar — brilliant!

Let me be frank, if you have the extra money, and, you’re serious about your chin-up bar, and want your chin-up bar to last for life, put this very high on your selection list — it’s that good!

Note: I removed the aluminium / silver “securing clasps” on each end of the bar — they’re not needed, and, simply get in the way when one is trying to gain maximum width with one’s chin-up’s in order to target one’s laterals in a more focused/isolated way. Removing these also makes it far, far easier to adjust the bar’s securing onto the doorframe, and, naturally provides far more adjustment/functionality, ESPECIALLY FOR NARROWER DOORWAYS. Removal of these clasps will not make this un-safe, as, once in position on the door frame, it’s not at all easy / possible to loosen the bar. Thus, these clasps are merely an “added” safety measure that are not needed at all.

Buy this product with absolute confidence, it’s simply amazing — compliments to the manufacturers!

Lastly, MEASURE YOUR DOORFRAME WIDTH before purchasing this product, based on the usable width adjustment of this product!

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI have been looking for a pull up bar for my families to do exercise at home as we do not go to gym any more, and at last I chose this one. I don’t like to screw the screws into my my wall, this is the best choice, non-screw and no trace. And it is so easy to install, just simply twisting the pull-up bar to extend its length until it fits my door frame, it locks into the door frame nicely without slipping or scraching the paint on the door frame . The handgrips make it so comfy to hold and me and my kids can adjust the width to fit our needs. The main rod of this pull up bar is very thick and sturdy. I am about 12st and I have been using it every day since I got it, it never shifted a bit, my son definitely likes it too, even my daughter askes me to hold her to hung on it few time a day. Everyone happy with this purchase, recommend it!

Amazing pull up bar! Strong and secure!

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersAs a fairly regular gym goer this lockdown has been pretty bad. Over the course of the last few months I have bought various items in order to continue exercising despite the gyms being closed.

This I feel has been a very good purchase. From the moment you open it, it has a reassuring weight and feels to it. Setting it up in my door frame was also a doddle. I’m not hugely tall so I have just left it hanging up but you can fix it up and remove it within a minute if you wish.

I have had this for a couple weeks so far and so far so good. It does what I need it to do and never have I thought “is it strong enough to hold my weight”. I always feel secure.

What is also good is that I can use my tension bands that I also bought over lockdown in conjunction with the pull up bar and do other exercises like tricep curl so it’s very versatile.

I can also move it down very low in a trice in the door frame and laying flat on my back pull myself up and give my chest and back a real good workout.

This is a good purchase when used in isolation it is very effective but used with other equipment like tension bands is when it comes into its own. This is definitely one of the more useful buys I have made and something I can see myself using for a long time.

Great home gym equipment/pull up ba

This is one super sturdy piece of kit. And it easily adjusts to the doorframe and holds me up, me and my 91kg. Definitely recommend with two caveats: my doors are fairly narrow (at 29″/74cm) and this would work better on a wider door if you need a wider grip.

Note that, when in place, it does exert a fair amount of pressure on the door frame.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis was my third purchase for a chin up bar. I purchased two others before this but sent them back as they needed to be screwed in. Despite the description stating “No Screws needed” in the Q&A section. But, never mind. Live and learn.
The bar is extremely sturdy, and useful for a range of exercises. Pull ups, push ups, crunches, etc. Bare in mind that when you put it up to use, please, do make sure it is secure.

You can also use resistance bands to do a full workout as you please.

For the price, you can’t go wrong. It would have been nice if they offered a bit of variety for colours, but I’m just nip picking.

If you’re as tall as I am (6ft’5) just be careful not to hit your head.

Overall, if you’re after a tough, sturdy chin up bar during lock down, people this is the one to purchase. Even with the gym’s reopening soon I might just stay home and work out as I don’t want to be wearing a mask.

    Exercise like a veteran.

Loved this bar. I struggled with fitting it against the wall, the instructions could be clearer on how to tighten it. But wow the sturdiness and grip is amazing. I ordered few resistance bands after and combination of these two, will be enough to do good muscle ups.

The bar once extended enough to cover the distance between walls, remember to hold one side and twist the middle of the bar in pointed direction (I think it is towards you) and the other end of the bar will fix itself against the wall.

I haven’t seen any marks left on the wall. If you’ve concrete walls, better to use with it as wooden doorframes may develop cracks; the bar is as strong as that.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersTwo great things about this – you don’t screw in any brackets. This give the second great feature – you can easily move it. I bought it for doing pull ups from lying on the floor, leg stretches (as in a barre) and pull ups from vertical. It’s so easy to remove – just lift, and reposition as desired.

The way it works is by having strong levers at each end, so that force down is transferred 100% to force sideways – against the door frame or walls (I used it outdoors in a passageway, between a brick wall and the house). It actually extends further than the quoted 92cm but of course, shouldn’t be used for full weight when extended further (useful for leg raises though).

I decided to try this bar based on previous reviews and also availability. It arrived promptly and I received an email from the seller to ask me to get in touch with them if I had any issues etc.

Was easy enough to assemble, I would say if you don’t have a wide door frame then I can see why some people would say the width/hand placement could be restrictive but it wasn’t an issue for me.

I’m 84kg and I have tried this whilst wearing a weight vest (10kg) and it has not budged, very good locking mechanism. I would say it did leave a mark on the frame but I explained this to the company and Anya contacted me immediately to discuss and come to an agreement on a partial refund – you really cannot fault the service levels.

Easy to install, and works great in a wider space. I tried other door mounted bars, but when extended beyond the with of a standard door frame, they failed, even when screwed into the wall. This works great in my hallway and was easy to install.

Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersThe bar is made in China but honestly it is well worth the money. The seller is very courteous, they offer a lifetime warranty and send you an email where they state that if you want to return, if your item is faulty or anything else they will accept the return along with the shipping charges.

The bar is easily installed and it comes preassembled so your only job is to place it where you like (you can see my bar secured on my door frame). Honestly I think it was a great purchase.

Got to say that this is a very impressive piece of kit; you *must* ensure that you use the bar correctly. Once you do, however, you’ll me amazed at just how sturdy it is. I was very tentatively putting some weight on it then increased it to my full body weight and no problems at all. Definitely will become core to my home workouts.

This bar is between a wooden doorframe for me, and it holds my weight: I’m 6’2″, 95KG, so it’s a strong bar.
Just ensure you have the room/doorframe to do it.

Brilliant. A quality product for lockdown home gym. This is really easy to put up and down so you don’t have to have it up all the time. Also it means you can change the height quickly to adapt to your work out pull ups or rows. It is really sturdy. You can get cheaper but this is well worth the money. Also it was delivered next day.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersExpensive but the mechanism works well.
It seems to add enough force to move the joists in my house!
I’ve drawn with pencil around it when I put it up and it’s yet to have moved so it seems great so far.
The pads are a little thin and it would have been nice to get thicker ones at this price point but it’s no Biggie.
If it we’re more reasonably priced it would be 5 star.

Strong enough to move a joist.

Easy to install on the door frame and once installed, it wont budge at all. Really good quality build but the pads not so much. After receivig it and undoing one of the pads it was already ripped, they’re also pretty thin.

A bit hard to put up but damn is it stable. I wouldn’t recommend setting it up each time you want to use it. Its very strong and a perfect addition to the house, no weak backs and shoulders here. Wanted to get one that hooks to a door but so glad i got this instead. Its a bit fiddly to get installed but it ensures its super secure. Only down side is that it may leave marks after a long time but prepared for that before i purchased.

    Strong and stable!

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersHad been looking for an indoor pull up bar due to the weather restricting my use of the outdoor one, and couldnt be happier with this one.

I did made the mistake or assuming it would fit all my doors, but unfortunately some were about 26″ across which is too small.

The first time will take a few minutes working out how to fit it in the door, but after that it only needs 30 seconds and is completely secure and safe. Sometimes leaves a few small marks on the frame, but these wipe off straight away.

Overall I couldnt fault the product and would highly recommend it.

Excellent build quality and easy installation Only reason for giving it a 4 rather than 5 is that no user guidelines were provided. Some sports equipment used incorrectly can cause injuries or excessive pain if not used correctly. The additional emailed installation instructions were very specific and clear but there was no guidance on use of the product.

Golden Review Award: 61 From Our UsersExcellent bar – i did struggle at first understanding how to set it up. I think that was more me then the bar, i didnt realise about twisting the actual bar to tightin it. I mean who reads instructions?

Now the challenge is not just hanging off it but being able to do one.

I weight about 14 stone and its taking me very easy without damaging anything.

This bar is well-designed, well-built and easy to install, uninstall and move from one location to another. It grips a door frame tightly and is designed in such a way that the grip gets even tighter when you pull down on it. It feels safe even for someone like me, 6 feet tall and overweight.

The pull up bar is far superior because of its design, it was definitely not simple to install but once installed it certainly does not feel like its going to fall. Feels well made too!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersVery sturdy, held me up just fine but I weigh 60kg. Can put it between the door frame of a standard bedroom door, just outside, doesn’t interfere with the door opening or closing.
Installation was surprisingly easy, and it is very stable, I didn’t have to use any screws or anything like that. Just extended it till it hit both sides of the inner door frame, then did the locking mechanisms that they say on the manual. Good for when I might need to move it somewhere else, no holes in the door.
Although I did get it on a deal, the original price of 45 that I saw it on is a bit pricey, but if you’re serious about pull ups Id think it’s worth it.

This bar can extend or retract as necessary to fit between your door frame. I weight around 85Kg and this holds my weight effortlessly without any worry of it collapsing. A little more expensive than other options but definitely well worth it.

Minimal fuss installing this. Solid and doesnt budge. Be careful (like anything you put in a door frame) not to over tighten or you will start to push out your door frame! It WILL leave a mark on the door frame (grooves) but thats better than drilling holes to put in something more permanent.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersKeep reading I have an update!

Let me explain: it is a very sturdy bar but it has downsides. Firstly, being sold by amazon I was expecting a fast delivery. It took 20 days to arrive… no comment.
Secondly the installation is not as easy as you think, you need to fiddle a bit with the parts in order to have it properly installed.
Finally, the edges that block the length of the bar (the quick release) take too much space off the bar, in a way that finally you are exercising almost in the middle. At least 15 cm at every end of the bar is useless.

    ——————————
This is why I changed the stars judgment of this article.

I wrote this review after two months having bought the bar (I completely forgot it). After only one day a very nice person from UMI contacted me saying that she was terribly sorry for my customer experience. She tried to explain that they are not in charge of delivery and therefore it wasn’t their fault but also she was very concerned about the fact that I wasn’t enjoying the bar. In the same email, and without many turn around, she asked me to accept a refund and in exchange of sharing my experience with the community.

Therefore, the product is very sturdy, beautifully engineered and you will be more than happy if you have quite wide doors. My doors are standard, 85cm, and I cannot take advantage of all the product. Apart from that it’s a great bar.

It is a very sturdy equipment. Not that easy to install, you’ll need someone to hold it up when you try to twist and lock it up. The narrow width so it wasn’t quite comfortable to perform a pull up but chin up is extremely good since chin up requires a narrower grip. So far I love it, could tolerate the pull up

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersI have owned a few pull up bars in my time of varying types.
This is by far the best.

It is strong and sturdy, it does not slip.
It has clamps which prevent the bar from loosening during chip ups after placement.
It does not require any screws yet is firmer than any non screw bar I have ever used.
The Grips are moveable and actually quite comfortable.
Moreover the grips prevent you from losing grip because of sweaty palms.
It is suitable for both chin ups and pull ups despite being the size of a door frame.

Worth the extra money to get this as it will last a life time.

Very sturdy and feels good, couple of issues; the advertised 400kg capacity is very different to the instructions included and would struggle if someone over 100kg used it. The bar also leaves a nasty blue marks on the doorframe as shown in photo’s. however the customer service from umi is excellent and helped smooth over these difficulties

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersMost of the door chin-up bars are either flimsy, or require permanent fixtures to be screwed into the door frame (which makes it impractical for travelling etc.)

But the instruction leaflet was poorly written and did not make much sense. Therefore the bar was difficult to assemble and difficult to install but once I worked it out with support from the Amazon Community it was very straight forward really.
Initially the Umi company did not seem to understand my difficulties but they kept responding to my emails. Umi even offered to send me a replacement at a reduced price. Fortunately I did not need to return my original bar and now I use it daily. This really is a brilliant pull up & chin up workout bar.

The grip pads are fairly narrow so work on narrow door frames; it feels completely secure to do pull ups on (I’m 70Kg) although I was cautious at first! It also doesn’t mark the door frame.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersA man must remain strong wherever he is!
I am a student and it is not always possible to attend the gym, due to the fact that there is a lot of work from the university, so the push-ups were at home, but the horizontal bars used to work with friends on the sports ground so to speak were the horizontal bar man
And I always wanted to hang on the horizontal bar, pull up, but it didn’t work as I said because I had little time, but I spent some free time on the sport, wrung out and decided to make a horizontal bar at home and bought a horizontal bar in the doorway.
And I did not regret with this choice, now I can work at the bar at home, pull up and just hang to stretch the spine.
Yes, and you need to engage in sports, it makes you feel good.
Because I recommend and you this horizontal bar Umi Door Pull Up
On the bar is very easy to do, well, really if only you have the willpower. A physical form will not be difficult to dial. It develops well back muscles, triceps, biceps. You can even use it in order to just hang and relax your back, immediately this feeling is cool. You can also not only use this horizontal bar as standard, but you can also put it on the floor and try push-ups with it … I’m already catching up on one approach 20 times without any problems) A record 38)). By the way, I also shake the press on the horizontal bar, slowly raising my legs to the horizontal position, for girls I would advise to raise the knees to the chest.
The horizontal bar itself with unusual mounts, most likely it is an abgrey of the UMI company. The seller assures that the horizontal bar will not slide off the doorway in any case, if everything is properly fixed. The maximum load on the bar 440 kg, this is something extra natural))) At the moment, everything is great. the Horizontal bar was very pleased. I advise to purchase

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersI nearly gave up on the idea until I found this. Being a bit of a h&s conscious person I wasn’t keen on hanging from a bar that wasn’t screwed to the door frame. The way this has been designed is awesome. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery versatile piece of equipment, it attaching inside the door frame rather than hanging on the top like other bars, allows for a lot of different exercises because you can change its height. Inverted rows, dips, leg raised push-ups, chin-ups, also works really well as an anchor point for resistance bands. However I find it is too narrow for pull-ups, I can’t get my hands far enough apart to do them comfortably on this bar. Maybe would work better for someone with fairly narrow shoulders. Still though I can do lots of stuff with it and use it almost every day.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersAs a functional product, it’s done the job in the month or so I’ve had it. Having said that, while it attaches to the door frame relatively well, I can feel that the bar is becoming more difficult to tighten. While rotating the bar to tighten the grips to the door frame, it feels like there is a bit of an internal struggle going on and the product probably has another month left in it before something gives way.

Additionally, the plastic cover on the main part of the bar looks to have bent and eroded at one end. I’m not sure what’s caused this, but it may have something to do with when the bar is retracted back after use. Sorry, bit of a hard one to explain.

To summarise, it appeared and worked like a decent bar for the 2-3 weeks after it arrived, but it certainly doesn’t feel as high quality now. I’d be wary to recommend it.

EDIT: I was contacted by a new member of customer service who appears incredibly on the ball. I was offered a free replacement or a refund, based on the details of my review, and can only commend the company. While I didn’t have a wholly positive first experience with the bar, there’s every chance I received a dud. The majority of reviews being positive would suggest this is the case. As I now attend a gym I no longer needed the bar, but it would be a great substitute for anyone looking to build their bodyweight pull-up strength.
