Really like this hoover, a lot lighter than I was expecting and easy to move around. Nice long cord length. Have yet to use it on the stairs but not expecting any problems.
If I had to have a gripe it would be having to change the suction power slide thing every time you hoover different depths of carpet i.e. my rugs are thicker than the carpet, but it’s only a minor inconvenience and I’m just being picky and lazy so it’s more a problem with me than the hoover.
Overall, a good purchase and very pleased with it.
I’ve always had vax and after 16 years my old one packed up. So went with the same make and it doesn’t disappoint. I have a large husky (lots of hair) this is the only vacuum on the market I would recommend. Tested 6 of the top brands nothing did the job like this one. It’s a really good price for some seriously good cleaning power when you have a very hair dog. The new configuration on the pipes solved the only niggle on my old one. Gives you the tool attachments you need. Perfect and better than a Dyson anyday of the week.
I have two dogs, one of which is a husky. Hair hair everywhere, I need a Hoover I can rely on and this one gets my vote. The suction power almost lifts my carpets, the detachable cylinder is great on the stairs and my bed, yes I have to Hoover my bed everyday and for getting into the little nooks and crannies that would normally be missed.
We have a dog and this vacuum is excellent for removing hair from the carpet and upholstery – it’s very easy to move around and it’s very quiet except when using the upholstery brush which is quite noisy
He the previous older model which lasted a good 10yrs before it finally gave up. Decided to go with VAX again due to how good the quality is. Newer more updated model is even better, perfect for dog hair aswell! Superb value for money when you consider the cost of a dyson is astronomical

This hoover has lots of gagety bits, suction is good, extremely good on both the hoover and the pet attachment. It is on the heavier side but compared to other big brands I wish I had bought this years ago.
Has a very good separate motor driven roller in the foot of the main unit. You can even turn the roller off if you want. The adjustable suction on the main unit is very useful as otherwise for pile carpets the suction would be too much – we often use ours on minimm suction. – We have a Long haired German shepherd – lots of hair. The Vax gets used at least every other day on some areas. Used to have Dysons but this is much more flexible – we lift it off to do stairs / car etc – very handy. Lighter than our previous dyson and a fraction of the price – we weren’t ready to go cordless the vacuum gets used too much for that – and we wanted to make sure it had real power. The roller doesn’t get clogged with hair half as quickly as the dyson used to – but still needs clearing sometimes – but the whole unit is quite well made and very accessible if you get something wrapped round it accidentally.
Hugely impressed with this Vac. I have a German Shepherd. He is constantly shedding. No hairs at all after using this machine. 10 out of 10. Turned out to be much better than I had expected!!!

I have a mix of carpeted and tiled floors and this product was brilliant! I have two little Jack russels and when they malt, gees do they malt! It picked up all their little hairs fantastically. Easy to empty. The delivery was brilliant…I ordered it one day and it came the next on standard delivery.
OMG I cannot believe how much hair this hoovered up. We have only had the carpet down for 3 months thought our Henry Hoover was picking up everything but after using the Vax just once could not believe what came off the carpet would highly recommend.
purchased for the fact it was lightweight and had the motor roller, arrived next day but unfortunately the on/off button didnt work, item collected the following day and replacement given, very good service, vacumn is a little heavier than i expected but very easy to move about so its fine, picks up very well and has done wonders for my wool carpet, havent used cylinder on stairs yet, will leave that too husband
Excellent Hoover only trouble I have had is that filling in the registration for the guarantee on line it did not recognise Channel Islands no matter how I put it in the forks. Very frustrating. Then tried to cal – well needless to say I gave up.
After using a cheap vacuum for years I decided to spend a bit more money on a vacuum because I have a cat and the vacuum was just struggling with the hair among other things. The moment I used this vacuum on our carpet I could tell the difference. Great suction and it picks everything up easily.

Bought this to replace our Dyson and so far found it to be way more reliable and has great suction and a brilliant general all-round performance for stairs, hair, carpets and hard surfaces.
It is also very easy to empty.
This is the second Vax upright I’ve owned and a decent upgrade from the last. In terms of price over efficiency it is second to none. Not everyone can afford the unreachable tech of Dyson… vacuum cleaners for the privileged. Having opted again for the vacuum that deals with pet hair I’m not disappointed. It’s easy to use, quieter than the last model and does a great job on carpet and hardwood flooring for sucking up pet hairs. No trouble on the stairs and the cord length is pretty good. A robust vacuum that’s easy on the back.
Amazing suction cleans my carpet really good especially have 3 cats and 4 dogs sucks the hair right up. Just found using it on the stairs very cumbersome the suction is so good it sucks the pipe in and the hoover constantly falls over and taking it off the main stand is again cumbersome. I think you should have like a strap to put it over your shoulder so you can carry it without getting tangled up in it.
I tried a shark hair wrap model but it was uncomfortable to manoeuvre and felt my shoulders and back hurt after a few yses. It’s mainly due to the shark not having an adjustable handle and it been too long so taking more of a push and pull in use.
This vax has been brilliant so far, great suction, it pulls my rugs in when the brush is active. The lift away functions well, can be a bit of a faffle getting it back on.
Ive had vax for the past ten years and shouldn’t have gone to shark this time. This vax won’t dissapoint especially for the 129.99 I paid which is less than half the price of the hair wrap shark model.
All in all 5*.
The device cleans very well. We find it a little noisier than we expected however, we would buy another one and recommend it to friends.

Extremely please with this vacuum. Modular, awesome design, awesome suction! Super easy to move around. The steering is excellent! It’s light weight. Only very very tiny niggle is the extendible hose is very springy, trying to get back to it’s shortest length, and a bit short. Overall, would definitely recommend to buy. Brilliant.

We have had this for a couple of weeks after a year old Shark died and we needed something quickly and reasonably priced to suck up the sock fluff, dog hair and all the other stuff that seems to magically get trampled into the carpets in a house with 3 kids… it is very loud compared to the Shark but great suction, seems sturdy and hopefully it will last more than 13 months.
Excellent for dog hair but the belt broke within four months of purchase. Most unimpressed with manufacturer, despite endless emails asking where I can buy replacement belts no help whatsoever. Appalling customer relations. Do not deal with this company. Also I cannot find on Amazon any belt that fits this model..

Absolutely love this product. The suction is very strong and lifts everything from fine dust to dog and cat hair. Also refreshes the pile on my carpets so they look and feel like new. The lift out function is handy for doing my stairs. Also good on hard floors. Switch off the brush bar for this. Very satisfied with my purchase. By far the best vacuum cleaner I have owned, over the the years, including some of the other top brands.
Simple to use, fantastic suction, I thought my carpets were clean as vacced up the day before using this vax but after using this vax all over the house it filled the dust chamber. When vacing the stairs the hose doesn’t stretch too far but the lift off chamber is great even though it is fairly heavy.
Like others, the two first impressions I had were that its suction was so good it was alarming what a difference it made to my supposedly clean cream carpet, and that it was heavier than I had expected. The weight isn’t such a concern as it is very easy to steer, and the top part is detachable for stairs, ceilings etc. If it had not lost the fantastic suction through the main head after 2-3 months I would have given this 5 stars. As it is now after 6 months of use, I often have to resort to using the tube attachment to pick up anything other than dust, even after emptying everything out and cleaning/cutting all hair that gets stuck on the head bristles.
This is our third Vax, and these are great cleaners for the price. Ours gets a lot of heavy duty use, two dogs in the house and use on carpet and hard floors.
Ours have been very robust and put up with a lot of rough treatment. The only issue we’ve had is the lead, the gland into the cleaner needs to be a bit stronger, ours failed on the first one and Vax replaced the cleaner under warranty, our current cleaner has failed with the same problem after 5 years.
Apart from that we’re very pleased, the lift off system is great for stairs and the car, good suction and easy to use.

This vax has a powerful suction, wow! Using the hose and tools takes some strength to keep it upright! I find the vacuum cleaner rather heavy ! The hose isn’t very long , that’s the only downside! If you need a powerful vacuum cleaner and you’re strong , this is the one!
Pros: Good build quality, quiet, powerful, steerable with easily adjustable suction and long flex.
Cons: A bit heavy and unwieldy to push around and the flex hook on the handle does not hold but the main problem is the extremely short (12 inches!!) extension hose which stretches well but has to have a very strong spring so you are continually fighting to use the extension tools.
Great all round vacuum that would have got 5 stars if the lead came out of the body of vacuum at middle or top rather than bottom which results in standing on lead at regular intervals.
Two of these we’ve had now first one from Argos in the sale 150 had it 3 years and the wire has been pulled too hard so the the motor goes on&off all the time. This one sounds a lot best quieter than the one and the colour change is better black were we had sliver that got scratched and had black marks so this colour scheme is a lot better. The way my wife uses it banging into stuff I hope this one lasts more than 3 years. I love the lift off part so you can just carry it and do the stairs or doing the car.
Really like how it gets alot of cats hairs up but when full modle mode in use has a mind of its own when steering it .Good for its uses
When I first got it I wanted to test the suction and fully closed the vent above the roller turned it on it sucked so hard when I pulled back it lifted the vacuum cleaner and carpet off the floor so I keep it half open and it still picks everything up, I never tested it on stairs as I don’t have any but I would definitely recommend it to anyone and have.
By far the absolute best Hoover I have ever used or owner, beating dyson clear out. Suction and power is absolutely amazing!! I was actually really surprised by the power. Picks up all hair (human and dog) from carpet with ease without the need to change heads. Lighter than most hoovers to carry around including on stairs. Filter very easy to clean. Overall, delighted with this product.
I brought this hoover because of the lift off feature but it isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. It’s got a very strong suction and I can only use one tool with. You have to hold onto it while its lifted off the stand or it falls over the suction is that strong it pulls towards you . The hoover as an upright is a little bit clumsy and harder to steer compared to my other Vax but I would still always buy a Vax nothing beats how well they work and keep on working.
My hover broke the other day. It was a vax so I stayed with vax.
I have 3 indoor cats that love to molt and this hover done wonders bringing it all out the carpet. I’ve only used it once but I’m impressed. Fingers crossed this one lasts me 7 years or more
I’ve used three different top range Dysons over the years and had consistent issues and no real support from the company. The final Dyson straw was when the fixed upright hose holder and handle completely snapped in half. I had previously purchased one of the cheapest Vax machines a while back to use while we were renovating. It worked very well and, more importantly, Vax customer services were just amazing; I trust they will continue with their excellent work. I can certainly recommend this machine, it does what it says on the tin and one can’t ask for more than that!

Anyhow, this thing is great.. Light. Easy to use and adjust. Suction is good. Adjust the power by sliding the plastic cover on the head. Closes the air holes so as to make more suction.
Worth the 120 or whatever it was. Can’t remember.

The vacuum cleaner is effective at picking up dust etc from floors. The device is awkward to use on stairs as you have to carry the device in one hand whilst using the hose in your other hand making it easy for you to lose your balance and having no free hand to grip the hand rail to stop yourself falling. The hose design is not the best and let’s down an otherwise good vacuum cleaner.
Great on carpets on floors. I think that the short hose is an absolute nightmare but kept the item for its suction power. Yes my very long hair does wrap round the brush but I find it is not bad at picking up dog hair and it manages fairly well with both. Cannot say I find it lightweight. Tried the lousy hose just the once and to maintain sanity will probably not do so again. The suction power, though, is truly excellent and I have tried (and wrecked) many makes of vacuums over the years.
I am well impressed with this hoover, I have a Siberian husky and they malt a lot the hoover picked all the hair up from the carpet.

This was bought on the back of an aged dyson so it has a lot to live up to … But its great, easy to use and very versatile with its gadgets etc. Much the same as the dyson but much quieter but fantastic suction over all types of floor/carpets/rugs so well pleased. Admittedly we only took delivery of this machine a couple of days ago but we are really impressed …
Had to replace my old Vax air (red one) as the brush roller had seized and no spares. This one came up best for price and reviews. Lovely cyan colour, great suction, really good design.
Pros: manoeuvrability (pivot/ball design), removable canister to do stairs, suction, handle, picks up hair (3 girls and cat in house)
Cons: wire length (previously had 10m so do whole house from plug downstairs), hose length shorter so can easily pull vac over when doing sofas (livable with)
Overall really good vac and would recommend.
Good little vaccum not really suited for heavy use I had this for a few months and the motor burnt out vax and hoover brands are no match to Dyson upright vaccumm. Spend a little extra and get a Dyson to save you the hassle.

Was a bit sceptical after some of the bad reviews, but so far this is a really great vacuum cleaner! It is replacing a Dyson pet plus cylinder and is soooo much better. I like the lift off section, it works great on stairs and for window sills, cobwebs etc. The waste container is a decent size which is great when you have dogs and kids.
So, at the moment a functional powerful vaccum for a really good price.

I came across this and wow what a hoover, very powerful comes with a couple tools but you can get the full accessory kit if needed.
A lil heavy for an older weaker person.
Having had the Vax Mach Air Purple I was more than happy to get another Vax. Having recently got a dog we decided to go for the pet version. The suction is amazing, our old Hoover was giving up so this one has revitalised even the oldest of carpets.
The only issue I do have is the length of hose when doing the stairs, it is very short. Although I lift out the body of the hoover & carry it upstairs for me it’s to short but if I attach the handle it’s too rigid & cumbersome. This needs an extra hose on the side like the purple version in my opinion.
We have a house with a dog and 3 ladies with long hair & I have to say the brush doesn’t get anywhere near as clogged as the purple version so am really pleased that it won’t need taking out to clear as often. Over all I’m pleased & will just have to get used to dealing with the stairs.

Generally happy with this cleaner, the suction is excellent, cat hairs no problem. Unfortunately the cleaner is so light that it is unstable when using the hand tools both when still attached to the cleaner and when lifted off. Also the hook to keep the cable out of the way doesn’t work to well. As with most things these days the written instructions are inadequate with unclear diagrams.
Early days yet re reliability and longevity, however, I’m loving my Vax Air-Lift Pet. I’ve had a few Vax vacuum’s over the years, and have noticed the evolution of the range, and improvements to the products design. A very good vacuum cleaner, very well priced, which I would highly recommend.
I have a cat with three legs but still, it leaves a load of hairs where ever it has slept. It doesn’t like a cat basket so wherever is comfy for him; he will sleep almost anywhere especially in the kitchen doorway if I am in there. A cat needs about 12 hours of sleep a day so perhaps you can imagine how many hairs it leaves.
I had the predecessor version and both have worked very well. I have no stairs in my flat so I cannot comment on that but for down the side of armchairs it is excellent and floors with or without carpets. I only have to empty it to see that it works so very well. Cleaning the chamber is so easy too so no problem there although doing that is only occasional. removing the chamber is easy and emptying it could not be simpler. I can highly reccomend this hoover to anybody with a pet. It works and it does it very well.
One last comment if anybody wonders, I gave the old one to a relative with a cat who was having trouble with hairs and now they are not.

So far, so good. We have tried expensive hoovers and cheap hoovers. None seem to last very long when used on a daily basis. Miele failed. Shark failed. How long will this last? Its a bit heavier than its more expensive cousins, but the suction is good.
Love this! We have kids and three furry pets. It handles all of it! Does excellent on carpet, hardwood and with hose. Bought the extra nozzle kit which is fun and make some things easier, but could do perfectly without. Better than my Dyson! Only downside is you need to assemble the hose/wand every time you want to use it. Easy as an adult, but tricky for the kids to help with cleaning without you.
Really pleased with this vacuum, the 1st time it was used the dust that was pulled from the carpet was surprising – I hadn’t realised I was living in a sandpit but the cylinder doesn’t lie. Much better than the Dyson that has now been donated to a charity shop.
Brilliant suction just find when using it on stairs pipe not long enough as as the suction really strong if you dont hold the hoover it gets pulled over i find it heavy but most of the time its the suction level that causes it to be heavy would recommend just not easy to empty the hair gets stuck you have to out ur hand in the dirt?
I have 5 cats so I needed something powerful for pet hair on soft furnishings and hard floor . The pet hair adaptor is excellent at picking up hair off sofas, chairs and bedding. I have had a Vax 10 years finealy packed up so got this one NOT AS GOOD a little hard to push round also they have changed the cable it is longer but is now a flat one it does not roll up as good as the round one

I can’t understand why they always advertise no loss of suction as I used my old Vax first. It has new filters in and obviously didn’t pick all the hair up (so there must be a loss of suction).

We are on our second vacuum. The first one had an issue within warranty, and since we purchased from amazon, a new one was sent to us and we just had to send the previous one back. I love this vacuum, it is a bit heavy, but so worth the effort. I will never purchase another one again. Seriously great on pet hair!

Great in most ways, very versatility, great to be able to take the cylinder off and vacuum the stairs and high up places, except, the actual hoover and cylinder keep toppling over when using any attachment, it seems the suction is to great for the weight, but besides feet & legs being covered in bruises!!! it does give a really good clean.
This vacuum cleaner is a beast! The suction is immense. So much so that it can lift carpets if you don’t slide the suction valve depending on the carpet type. Whilst having incredible suction it is not heavy. We bought the previous version of this and it lasted 5 years. This one is an upgrade on the previous iteration. Better all round. doing what it’s supposed to do. cleaning out a bit of an issue as with all bagless cleaners. Have carpets everywhere & had to get in there with hands/skewers & a fork! to empty. Have had Dysons {so heavy to lug around} & Vax before. def prefer the VAX. Easier to take apart to clean but still a chore. Still think a disposable baggy one better? Not sure?
I really, really like this hoover. It picks up an amazing amount of dog hair. It’s great the way you can lift the dirt container away from the main part, which makes cleaning the stairs a doddle, as it is also very light and the cord is pretty long. Unfortunately, I think the design of the opening to drop the rubbish in the bin could be better, as could having to put an attachment on the very bottom of the machine to hoover the vinyl in the kitchen.

It is so much better than just about every other vacuum I have had. It is light, separates easily, empties easy, reaches almost every nook and cranny without out having to switch sockets.
I had bought a cordless vax due to lack of sockets but and here’s the important bit. If you have a show home then a cordless is fine but if like me you have kids, grandkids and a pet buy this one. Cordless = chocolate fire guard; looks good but useless at its job.
I have a bit of a weakness for buying vacuums until I get the right one. I currently have 6 all bought over the past 6 months. I’m getting rid of the rest!!! This is incredible!!!! Do not buy another one. I am including comparison to Dyson and VAX blade. I can not recommend this highly enough!!!!

Long cord means I can plug in and vacuum all of the rooms.
Lift away is fab on the stairs.
It’s very powerful, works equally as well on thick carpet or tiled floors. I would definitely purchase a Vax again.
