The Vax Air Lift Steerable Pet is the UK’s light corded lift-out† upright vacuum cleaner. It has all the power of a Vax Air upright with a lift-out cylinder for areas you can’t usually reach. Such good suction would definitely recommend. Always fills up with dust and dirt even when carpets and floors don’t look that bad.
What a hoover !!!
This thing is a beast . Never gives up . Sucks up the rug it is so powerful . I like the cut out to the brush if something tangles (excellent feature) hoover with your normal hoover then use this bad boy . See the stuff that comes up . Good value for the money
I had the previous model to this as such and power was absolutely phenomenal.
My partner couldn’t use the U88 model so we bought this one instead this is ideal for our use.
The only criticism I have is the power lead connection to the Hoover is in the wrong place apart from that I can’t fault it hoover is a hoover.

This a replacement for first which i ordered in silver and blue…but replaced with black and blue one, replaced as hoovered first bit carpet fine. But as soon as hit small rug it broke down green light went to red … did everything it says to do but never fixed problem so had send back …So ended up just removing the rug rather than it happen again … suction is great but dog hairs do get tangled in brush a lot so if doing whole house have keep pulling off brush as go along.. never had this problem with other hoovers .. it is nice and light and great for stairs with not having take whole hoover with you …

I have 2 labradors and this vacuum is great for lifting their hairs. The light section for cleaning stairs is amazing. We had guests staying with long hair and it would have been better with anti hair wrap technology as I spent a while with scissors. But not a huge issue as household all have short hair. Dogs both still hate the noise all vacuums make

Really impressed with this so far, one month in. Suction good, easy to use, and very versatile. Only challenge was the manual (which could have been clearer), but have got everything working now so that’s no bother at all. Well recommended, particularly for the price

I’m going to be honest and say I personally think it’s not too bad at all. It’s not quite got the suction of dyson machines (personal observation) but it really is a very good machine for the price and also very light

Outstanding suction powe
Never have carpets had such a through vacum, such a dynamite machine. Even felt air quality in house much improved. Concur with other reviews on hose connection, bit on short side, but once you develop a knack in using, suction power and value for money, well worth purchasing.

Bought as a replacement for a Shark Pet vacuum cleaner that struggled to pick up on hard floors. This Vax is a godsend and now makes me realise just how naff our Shark was. This vacuum does equally well on carpets as well as hard floors, picking up even large bits of food/stones. Only complaint is that it is a noisy vacuum cleaner, especially when the front roller is activated on carpets. Still would recommend as very good suction.

This hoover is excellent. The first one I received had a faulty clip and Claire on the customer service chat was very helpful. Replacement sent in 2 days. My rugs look new! Great attachment for pet hair. Definitely recommend.

Wish I'd got one years ago - amazing!
For years I’ve suffered unknowingly with a Henry vacuum cleaner (bought as I thought they were a reputable decent brand). I live in a council house which has rather cheap burgundy nylon carpet (not my choice) that literally everything seems to stick to. The Henry just wouldn’t shift dog hair off it and, generally speaking, would only pick up about 60% of dirt even with repeatedly going over the same area. I suffered with it for 6 years till it died a death a few weeks ago. Bought this Vax model as a replacement and I can’t believe the difference – The suction power is SO much better and it picks everything up (well 99%) in one go! I didn’t think it was possible to get my crummy carpet as clean as it now looks. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially people with pets who cast everywhere as my dog does.

Mine has not fallen over once, and because I give it the respect it is due, none of it has broken. And I keep it clean.
It does exactly what I ask it to do – the job.
So it’s NOT a Dyson, but neither is the price.
Amazing suction, and yes, it is noisy, but I’ve had worse – Even Dysons.
The detachable cylinder for doing the stairs is excellent. And the Turbo tool for the stairs is the best I’ve ever had.
The cable? It’s fine. Nothing wrong with it.
The cable comes out at bottom? Well that’s where the motor is! And if you’re tripping over the cable…… Open your eyes!
My only gripes?
The crevice tool is pretty useless, and there is nowhere on-board to keep the Turbo tool apart from a cupboard elsewhere. – This is the only reason I am giving it 4 stars, otherwise it would have been 5.

Light and powerful
We bought a Vax U90 upright in 2011 and replaced it in 2017 with another U90. Both very good. When the U90 gave up the ghost in August (partly my fault) we bought this UCPESH V1 (who thinks up the names??).
It’s way better than the two Vaxes which preceded it. Lighter, and far better suction; you can see it lifting the heavy carpet in the lounge away from the underlay when the slider which controls entry of air to reduce suction is shut. Very, very effective. The lift-off-and-carry unit is great for using the nozzle to get into crevices and corners. Extremely pleased.
There is just one complaint; the power cable (like the second Vax U90) is a flat section twin core cable which has a tendency to twist and tie itself in knots if you’re not careful. It’s much easier to damage than a circular section cable (whether it’s 2 core or three). Anyone who handles rope or cable will know the solution – make loops of cable loosely over your hand, with a half-twist of the cable as it’s looped to avoid it settling back into twists.
Topple ove
This vax is really good, good suction but I’ve only given it 4 stars because when using the extension handle, the whole of the unit seems to topple on to the side when stretched!

This vacuum cleaner is good, quite heavy to move around and also when separated to clean the stairs the unit is also quite heavy. The actual suction power is very good, better that my old Dyson. The only other slight negative is that hair is constantly found wound around the rotating brush bar and has to be manually cut away after each use. Overall 4 out of 5

excellent cleaner for the money
cleans and lifts the pile really well, better than a well maintained hoover whirlwind which had a new beater bar! also a lot quieter than previous vacs. The whole cleaning unit lifts away from the frame to make stairs easy and much safer than a whole teetering machine!
2 issues though, the cable is really thin and light and twists/knots easily. not the kind you can wrist flick out of the way as not weighty enough. I got the air lift pet model and there is no where to store the mini roller head on the machine??? guess it has to live in a cupboard , a trek to get it if you need it to hand.
overall for 120 its a good cleaner and a defo improvement even though i had initial doubts with the much lower power than the old days.
update feb 2022, the power cable, despite care ,is now a twisted mess. Vax really need to add an extra tenner to the price and use better quality cable. The machine has run faultlessly and honestly i have not had to clean the motor filter at all, it still looks like new! This is without doubt the only vac i haven’t had to spend ages a month cleaning and fidling to keep it a top performance. For the price i am well pleased. apart from that pesky cable:(
A vacuum with actual suction power!
Our previous vacuum was a Dyson DC50, so here’s a comparison:
Suction power – here, the Vax wins, and then some! The Dyson was feeble in comparison. The last job the Dyson did before it died was vacuuming the living room carpet, a regular occurrence as we have a cat. This was about two days prior to the Vax arriving. The amount of stuff the Vax then got out the carpet was incredible!
Tip – don’t try to vacuum door mats or thin rugs with the main machine, or it will pick them up rather than rolling over them! Also, don’t leave charging cables lying around. The Dyson would happily roll over them – not this thing, which is already named The Beast in our house, and has given rise to several inappropriate jokes about suction power.
Detachable hose – Here, the Dyson wins, as their hose is far longer, and doesn’t pull the machine over, unlike the short Vax example. Something of a design compromise, I’d guess, given the exceptionally low price! You get what you pay for.
Tip – lie the Vax down on its side when using the hose, it’ll fall over otherwise!
Detachable cylinder – Another Vax win. Although you simply carried the whole Dyson when vacuuming the stairs, with the Vax you detach the cylinder. The fearsome attachment for cleaning the stairs and the far better suction, means the Vax does a better job.
Tip – When using the attachment for cleaning the stairs, roll it backwards. It simply doesn’t work pushed forward.
Overall – The Vax when fully assembled is far heavier than the Dyson, and you need to put a bit of effort into pushing it around. So, if this would be a problem for you, then the Vax is not for you. The Vax can roll into corners just as well as the Dyson.
However, for the considerable price difference, all the minor quibbles listed above become largely irrelevant. The only unknown is reliability. The Dyson lasted probably 10 years, will the Vax get close? At this price even if it lasts half as long, it’s a win!

Good value for the price
So far very pleased with this. Very powerful suction. Not too heavy (for me at least). Was initially disappointed there wasn’t a flexible brush head for the hose to clean under the bed – until I discovered the main brush head could do the job anyway as it’s gimballed such that the body can lay almost flat on the floor when in use! Only used a few times, but so far recommended…

Great long flex, and brilliant for dog hair.
This is my second one after about 15 yrs with the previous one. It’s got a great upgrade of ball movement, the suction is terrific, picking up hair from 3 dogs. Better use of extra tools as well make this a 5 star hoover.

Amazing for cleaning up hair, I have a dog who malts a little and my previous hoover must have just moved the dirt around because we had to empty the drum 3 times before we had finished the living room.. Its honestly amazing the pictures attached are the before and after of the hallway which is where the hair accumulates. It’s honestly like I’ve had new carpets

I can’t believe how good this Vac is, having used it, it tells me how poor my old Vac was. I have a very hairy Dog and it picks up the Hair very well with no Hair wrapping round the roller, No need to spend double the price for a specialist Pet Vac this one does it all.

I can’t believe how good this Vac is, having used it, it tells me how poor my old Vac was. I have a very hairy Dog and it picks up the Hair very well with no Hair wrapping round the roller, No need to spend double the price for a specialist Pet Vac this one does it all.

This is a very good vacuum. So easy to maneuver and empty. Great that it comes apart to do stairs so no struggling to balance it. Great suction. Good sized cord. Also has a couple of handy attachments.

I have 2 big dogs and 1 cat and this hoover is brilliant, I would definitely say on par with the Dyson for power/durability, although I I think this offers the extra advantage of being able to detach for the stairs and the car!

Came well packaged on time and in good condition as described. This hoover is amazing! Couldn’t believe how well it picked up my dogs fur, the suction power is fantastic! If you have a pet that malts you need this hoover very well pleased with it.

A great replaceme
Purchased because an old Vax had died. I read lots of reviews and decided to give this one a try. I have to say that I’m impressed with it. It was easy to put together. It is also easy to use and has good suction. Having a long haired dog it really needed to prove itself on its suction power. I’m happy with all the attachments and the action of the ‘slide’ vent depending on whether you are on carpet or hard floors. It is simple enough to empty. I haven’t yet used it on the stairs, but another of the selling points for me was that you could remove the cylinder from the main machine housing, what a great idea! I also like that the handle is the hose for ceilings etc.

Excellent quality and value for money
This is one of the best vacs I’ve ever had , the suction is amazing and brings my carpets up like new, excellent for stairs and upholstery, I’ve literally bought 4 of these over the last couple of years as gifts as I have carers aswell as my daughter and family and everyone loved the hoover.

sensational vacuum cleaner. this is my second one. I had the first one for over 5 years and I was very happy with it. it worked fine until my partner inadvertently tore the cable out. the newer version seems to be the same but is even better.

Lifts pet hair very effectively
With two dogs in the house I needed an effective hoover. I had a shark, not powerful enough so I’ve opted for a plug in vax. Good decision, it is much more powerful and picks up not only dog hairs but dirt and dust. I agree that the machine is made of brittle plastic but I just take a little bit of care when I am operating it, especially when I am detaching the body for stair cleaning. I would say this machine is good value for money but a little too plastic.

If I had to have a gripe it would be having to change the suction power slide thing every time you hoover different depths of carpet i.e. my rugs are thicker than the carpet, but it’s only a minor inconvenience and I’m just being picky and lazy so it’s more a problem with me than the hoover.

A must as part of your cleaning essentials
I have two dogs, one of which is a husky. Hair hair everywhere, I need a Hoover I can rely on and this one gets my vote. The suction power almost lifts my carpets, the detachable cylinder is great on the stairs and my bed, yes I have to Hoover my bed everyday and for getting into the little nooks and crannies that would normally be missed.

We have a dog and this vacuum is excellent for removing hair from the carpet and upholstery – it’s very easy to move around and it’s very quiet except when using the upholstery brush which is quite noisy
One of the best you can buy!
He the previous older model which lasted a good 10yrs before it finally gave up. Decided to go with VAX again due to how good the quality is. Newer more updated model is even better, perfect for dog hair aswell! Superb value for money when you consider the cost of a dyson is astronomical

Less expensive but better optio
This hoover has lots of gagety bits, suction is good, extremely good on both the hoover and the pet attachment. It is on the heavier side but compared to other big brands I wish I had bought this years ago.
Really good suction and adjustable
Has a very good separate motor driven roller in the foot of the main unit. You can even turn the roller off if you want. The adjustable suction on the main unit is very useful as otherwise for pile carpets the suction would be too much – we often use ours on minimm suction. – We have a Long haired German shepherd – lots of hair. The Vax gets used at least every other day on some areas. Used to have Dysons but this is much more flexible – we lift it off to do stairs / car etc – very handy. Lighter than our previous dyson and a fraction of the price – we weren’t ready to go cordless the vacuum gets used too much for that – and we wanted to make sure it had real power. The roller doesn’t get clogged with hair half as quickly as the dyson used to – but still needs clearing sometimes – but the whole unit is quite well made and very accessible if you get something wrapped round it accidentally.

Hugely impressed with this Vac. I have a German Shepherd. He is constantly shedding. No hairs at all after using this machine. 10 out of 10. Turned out to be much better than I had expected!!!

OMG Brillia
OMG I cannot believe how much hair this hoovered up. We have only had the carpet down for 3 months thought our Henry Hoover was picking up everything but after using the Vax just once could not believe what came off the carpet would highly recommend.
easy to use
purchased for the fact it was lightweight and had the motor roller, arrived next day but unfortunately the on/off button didnt work, item collected the following day and replacement given, very good service, vacumn is a little heavier than i expected but very easy to move about so its fine, picks up very well and has done wonders for my wool carpet, havent used cylinder on stairs yet, will leave that too husband
Couldn’t register guarantee
Excellent Hoover only trouble I have had is that filling in the registration for the guarantee on line it did not recognise Channel Islands no matter how I put it in the forks. Very frustrating. Then tried to cal – well needless to say I gave up.
Great value
After using a cheap vacuum for years I decided to spend a bit more money on a vacuum because I have a cat and the vacuum was just struggling with the hair among other things. The moment I used this vacuum on our carpet I could tell the difference. Great suction and it picks everything up easily.

Not everyone can afford the unreachable tech of Dyson… vacuum cleaners for the privileged. Having opted again for the vacuum that deals with pet hair I’m not disappointed. It’s easy to use, quieter than the last model and does a great job on carpet and hardwood flooring for sucking up pet hairs. No trouble on the stairs and the cord length is pretty good. A robust vacuum that’s easy on the back.
Brilliant lightweight performer.
Bought this to replace our Dyson and so far found it to be way more reliable and has great suction and a brilliant general all-round performance for stairs, hair, carpets and hard surfaces.
It is also very easy to empty.

Amazing suction cleans my carpet really good especially have 3 cats and 4 dogs sucks the hair right up. Just found using it on the stairs very cumbersome the suction is so good it sucks the pipe in and the hoover constantly falls over and taking it off the main stand is again cumbersome. I think you should have like a strap to put it over your shoulder so you can carry it without getting tangled up in it.
Great addition to the family
I tried a shark hair wrap model but it was uncomfortable to manoeuvre and felt my shoulders and back hurt after a few yses. It’s mainly due to the shark not having an adjustable handle and it been too long so taking more of a push and pull in use.
This vax has been brilliant so far, great suction, it pulls my rugs in when the brush is active. The lift away functions well, can be a bit of a faffle getting it back on.
Ive had vax for the past ten years and shouldn’t have gone to shark this time. This vax won’t dissapoint especially for the 129.99 I paid which is less than half the price of the hair wrap shark model.
All in all 5*.
Cleans Well
The device cleans very well. We find it a little noisier than we expected however, we would buy another one and recommend it to friends.
