Bought this 4 mths ago to replace a Vax S3. Have found it excellent, easy to fill,no reservoirs to remove. Even on lowest setting I find it generates enough steam for the kitchen floor. Appears to myself a more efficient steamer than the Vax. The Vax was the second oe we’d owned of which the plastic removable pieces broke, the hard water filter split apart, handle split. The one good point of the Vax was length of power cord which I saved and fitted to the Vileda. If it had a trigger on/off switch women might prefer that to the current one which is fitted to rear of machine. Easy to use and for the price a good buy.
What can I say but having done my research online I was worried about something which would under perform or be poorly designed breaking within little time. This mop is a quality build item. It’s easy to use. Unlike other makes it doesn’t make your floor overly wet (drying after about 10 minutes). It heats up fast and steams away like a dream. The mop head swivels into corners nice and easily.
100% recommend getting this make/model as it’s enabled me to clean with ease my Kitchen floor tiles and vinyl bathroom flooring. 5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really good but chord length could be better. When changing rooms as in going from kitchen to bottom end of living room I have to change plug sockets. Not the end of the world I know. However, the floors come out really clean and I always add in some disinfectant with the water for extra fragrance. Pads are really easy to clean, just pull off and put in the wash at the end. Used this on a tiled kitchen/bathroom floors, and laminate. Does not leave any sticky residue behind, and leaves no streaks.
This is a great steamer! The tank of water does my entire house, so it’s empty at the end which means there’s no issues trying to empty the tank again. The cord is a great length and it reaches temperature really quickly. My only gripe is that the white cloth on the bottom is forever stained brown. Even when it’s been washed in bleach tablets, or washed with whitener. This doesn’t affect its purpose however.
* I believe those who say it’s scratched their floor, possibly kept the black triangle thing on the bottom which is only to be used on carpet!!
I have tried many ways to clean my kitchen floor, steamers, Valcro mops, hands and knees job, really I have tried many. But this Vileda steam mop is so impressive, steam gets very hot and blasts though the cleaning cloth attached. The triangle shape base enables you to get into the corners. Heats up in seconds and cleans my floor in minutes. My floor tiles have indentations in so had previously been tricky to get properly clean…not so with this mop. It has a lower setting for my wood floors too. Absolutely magnificent.
Arrived quickly in its own box so none of the usual Amazon paper overload, easy to assemble and straightforward to fill although a bigger water tank would be an advantage. The rocker on/off switch isnt the easiest to locate but it’s obviously not impossible and the mop head cleaning cloth is easy to attach! It heats up quickly and steam appears in about 15 seconds and cleans my laminate floor very efficiently on a low setting leaving it nearly dry with no streaks however I find on high heat on my tiled bathroom floors that it leaves a very poor, very wet, streaky finish, I’ve tried turning the heat down but that didn’t help and you really need the high heat to properly clean the shower and toilet area! I will keep trying to find a solution because overall I like the mop, it stores upright without falling over and doesn’t take up much room. Would I buy it again .. yes, it didn’t break the bank and works very well on my laminate floor!
Wasn’t sure about this mop at first, but really pleased that I bought it. I have tiles all through the house and have found it really easy to use, does a great job. I only use the low setting and find this sufficient. Only thing is you can’t see how much water is left in the tank, have to wait for it to cough and splitter. Could use a clear tank. But overall really pleased and would recommend.
Got this after my last steam mop started to trip the electrics, I like this one so much, the positives are
1. It was delivered next day on a Sunday
2. You can control the steam settings
3. The head is flat so goes under radiator covers
4. The head is compact so it goes round the toilet
5. Easy to fill and works quickly
6. A good price
7. Pads supplied are good and big
Bad points
1. You can’t see the water levels
I would definitely recommend, the 2 pictures, the dirtier one is from my tiled floor, we have muddy dogs, the second is from my bathroom floor where only 2 days ago I was cleaning by hand ( and no dogs in that room )
The handle is long but that’s ok.
Doesn’t do anything fancy but cleans the floors well. Heats quickly. Uses tap water. Very long cord (great, i don’t have to keep moving plugs!). it is very tall! Good value. Not had it long so don’t know yet how well it lasts but seems sturdy. It stands on its own when you let it go (my old one had to be propped up or it fell over) and that is handy. Happy with it and as long as it lasts at least a year i would buy another when needed.
I have a new puppy who is partial to weeing on the hard floors. After a bit I decided to get a steam cleaner for the floor to try to clear away the scents that might attract her to specific spots and I bought this one. It was easy to put together and I didn’t even need an induction course to know how to work it.
However, this was a reduced price “returned resale” and it is missing the jug that should have been in the package. I cannot find a way to contact Amazon to let them know the jug was missing, so I have no idea if anyone from Amazon will read this and send me a jug. Meanwhile, I will use a normal 1 liter water jug with 40 ml in it, and a pour the water in using a funnel.
If you are looking for an easy to use hard floor cleaner with a thermotat that means you can run it at low enough temperatures to clean laminate or lino, this is the one. Get a good supply of compatible pads too otherwise the dirt will smudge.
I wanted to give it a few weeks before I wrote a review. After doing quite a bit of research, I’m glad I bought the Vileda Steam Mop. It produces a good amount of steam, and dries very quickly. I have a combination of lino, stone floors, plus carpets. The pads are easy to put on and take off, and the carpet slider is the same. It’s lightweight which is what I needed, and the floors are done quickly. Horrifying to see how much dirt it picks up, thanks to my cat but easy to wash – not the cat, the pads!
Now this one, the small, lightweight, handy little Vax is great, constant steam output, extremely easy to use, no faffing, just fill, plug and steam. If all you want is a steamer for your floors, then this one is great, after only a few minutes all my tiled floors were done and dry fairly quickly. You can use it daily if you want as it is like using a broom. Doesn’t take up much space either.
It doesnt have a hand held function, but does have a carpet refresh tool which i will be using this weekend on all the carpets in the house.
Great little steamer that does the job without any gimmicks
Easy to use, comes with attachment to use on carpets as well as on hard floors. Cord length is good, lightweight and simply glides over floors without leaving it soaking wet. Highly recommended for anyone who has pets or dirty footprints to clean up after. With hindsight I wish I had bought one with a hand held attachment as that would have been useful to have as well as the upright one.
Excellent finish on both porcelain tiles and hardwood floors (lowest steam setting). This is so easy to use, heats up in seconds and leaves the floors ever so slightly damp. A quick rinse of the mop head material it’s ready to go again. My one complaint is the lead length – just another couple of feet and it would be perfect.
I use this from a wheelchair and love the ease at which it adjusts it’s angle to my low height and also it is very light weight. Thoroughly recommended.
I love using it – it is light, heats up in seconds, cleans the floors perfectly. It uses far less water than a bucket and a mop and dries up much faster too. I add essential oils, like someone suggested in their reviews, onto the cloth and get a lovely refreshed floors and air. The cloths are lasting well and are easy to wash with farm stuff. The cord is fine if you are staying in a one smallish room. I have no issues plugging it in to an extension lead and working away. Filling it with water is easy. It is a handy piece of equipment that I actually use often and always enjoy it, and the results! I was afraid it would be one of those electric junks like my robot hoover is, but no – it is a great help in keeping things tidy and fresh.
Used a Karcher hard floor cleaner before but over engineered and far too heavy, and frankly expensive! This Vileda is great. Heats quickly and light to manoevre. I bought non Vileda repkacement pads which are as good if not better than originals. 12 pads was cheaper than 2 Vileda ones!!. One issue raised by mNy users was cord being too short so i added another 3 metres cable and all is good. Have used all sorts of steamers over tby e years and value for money and performance for daily use thiz Vileda takes some beating.
I absolutely love this steam cleaner. It is powerful, starts to steam quickly and is very easy to use and store. I had a vax before this which broke after only ten months of not heavy use and I couldn’t find my guarantee so I bought this. Its much better than my vax was, the steam output is much better and it is easier to use and store. I would have liked an extra metre on the cord but it’s not a huge issue. It would be great if vileda produced a multi functioning mop that could also be used as a handheld like the vax.
I bought this to replace an H20X5 steam mop which finally failed after many years good use but thought I would go cheaper this time as I didn’t use all the attachments on it.
It arrived this morning, immediately out of the box for a trial and very pleased with its smooth gliding action and large cleaning cloth which covered the cleaning head generously. All very simple to use and does the job leaving the floor drier than my old mop.
Only disappointment is that there was only one cloth on the box when it says there should be 2, I have contacted the seller over this issue and will keep you posted!! Happy mopping everyone
Further to this review, the seller contacted me within an hour and the issue is being resolved. Great service from the seller.
I enjoy using this mop it gives me peace of mind as I have a little one. I still use my regular mop to clean and scrub with soap as this is literally steaming the surface. It does pick up dirt but not something that needs a bit of scrubbing. Ergonomically it could be better and my hands ache a little after using this but it doesn’t take long to use. I haven’t tested on carpet yet. Also, there is no gauge to see how much water is left and you have to rely on the chugging sounds it makes when empty and needing a refill! I like it.
This is so much easier to use than our previous, more well known, cleaner and seems to produce steam much more readily. It also gets more dirt up! The only slight downside is that the instructions are very precise about how much water to put in the tank. However, after the very first filling the amount of water left in the tank can not be known because the tank is not transparent. So, it is necessary to keep putting water in until you can just feel it by poking your finger into the filling hole.
I have mobility problems and used to use mop and bucket the bucket having a pedal on to wring mop. I was recommended to buy steam mop so glad I did or am I? I’m using it every day and cloths just go in washing machine. I have laminate floor in two rooms and thought they were clean until I used this I was so surprised at how dirty the cloth was I presume it was residue from what I was using in bucket to clean floor and they don’t get that dirty so I thought with just myself and hubby and no pets, although it’s steam by the time you’ve done one floor it’s practically dry before you move to next one
– not very premium feeling, and it shows its price;
– the features on it are just: ON/OFF and MIN/MAX steam output; very rudimentary
– on a 70 sq m surface, your hands will hurt, get sore and numb, as the handle is not ergonomic at all
– it’s very light, and can be disassembled
– it does a nice job cleaning tiles and laminated floors
– if you put it on MAX steam, you floors will be wet, but not soggy; it’ll evaporate within minutes; I set it up between 60-75%, and it worked like a charm on the lamintaed floors, and set it to MAX on tiles; it will work just as fine on vinyl flooring as the temperature is not insane
– on the downside, it being very light, it means on certain stains you need to apply a bit of pressure
A great mop that does the job. Makes floor look so much cleaner which is important as the white tiles can look filthy if there’s even a bit of dirt. I like to spray a bit of bleach on the floor of the areas I mop cause I want to make sure it’s as clean as it looks. Be sure to wash the mop heads otherwise you will end up with smeared floor tiles – that’s usually a sign the cloth part needs washing! Super easy to assemble – new favorite gadget. Bring so much satisfaction seeing dirt removed effortlessly that I enjoy killing now (never thought I’d say that! Hah)
It’s my first mop and I am very impressed , maybe there are better ones out there but this one was on offer and it exceeded my expectations. Easy to assemble, easy to use, ready to use in super speed and my floors feel clean and look great! I was a little bit sceptical and I normally looooove to smell the nice fresh detergent after I washed my floors but it looks and feels amazing so it makes up for it. I strongly would recommend this produc
I used to a have a Vax steam cleaner which I loved. Unfortunately the handle snapped after 3years. I thought I’d give this one a go.
Unlike the Vax that you have to press the lever for steam the Vileda has a constant flow of hot steam even when stood still. The floor pads are held on by a triangular clip frame. If you lift the Vileda off the floor fro example over something the clip frame can come loose so the mop pad drops out. I also tend to put two pads to make it thicker as it feel like the plastic frame is just scraping around the floor.
However over all it does clean the floor well as the steam is mega hot just be careful if/when removing the pad after cleaning and wait for it to cool.
Wow!!
Best steamer I’ve owned, feels solid and durable without being clunky and heavy.
Glides well and the swivel head makes getting into corners a breeze.
The cord in longer than most, huge benefit as my sockets are strangely located.
It heats up to full steam almost instantly.
Reaches a good temperature that means floors dry very quickly.
The height of the steamer is an advantage also, as it is quite tall you have a longer reach which helps you not walk across your newly clean but damp floor!
Bought this to replace a previous steam mop system. I find it’s been great for travertine and ceramic textured tiles also to light clean and lift carpet pile using the carpet glider attachment. Stands on its own so no propping up and falling over. I have a dog so this is a quick and effective way to remove the doggy trail of dust & mud.
Down sides- cord would be so much better if it where 1-2 metres longer so don’t have to wait to reheat after unplugging. Tricky to empty as you have to lift the entire mop to aim the filling point over the sink so best to do a trial and error to work out how much water needed for your floors so uses up all the water so no mop juggling to empty before storage.
I would recommend purchasing extra head attachements so quick changes can be made when tackling tougher, heavier stained areas ( drawstring types are good). Also, when washing the heads do not use softener as can affect absorbency
If you’ve never used a steam mop before (like me) you might think it isn’t doing anything but then you check the cloth & realise how much it has done. Using traditional mops or spray mops you’re use to the floor being wet and smells of products – you don’t get any of this with a steam mop so it appears as if it isn’t washing the floor but it definitely does. Overall it takes a little more prep before mopping over a spray mop, with a spray mop if already filled you just grab spray & go whereas you have to fill this, plug it in, switch it on but it heats in seconds and doesn’t leave the floor wet, so can go back into the room fairly quickly unlike spray/traditional mops. So overall this ends up quicker and gives a better clean
It is also good to quickly run over carpets with the carpet attachment to disinfect them – it doesn’t remove dirt but will antibac them.
If you miss the scented smell of “clean” then spraying the floor area with some diluted zoflora first can help but you don’t need it for cleaning or disinfecting as the steam mop alone will do this. Don’t put the diluted zoflora in the machine like others do or recommend as this can break steam mops & is also a fire hazard.
This steam mop is excellent value for money and incredibly simple to use, just add water, turn on and you’re ready…
I had initially thought my floors were quite clean as I would use a hand mop regularly as with pets running in and out it was a constant battle to keep clean.
Well, I think the before and after photos speak for themselves as it is able to pick up so much dirt in the hard wood floors and tile that I clearly wasn’t able to pick up with the hand mop!
The only negative I’d say is that the cord is quite short so you find yourself having to unplug and move to another one around the house which is a little annoying.
1:The way it stands upright independently, no need to lean precariously on the kitchen counter
2: The mop head sides are low with sharp lines to get under the edges of washing machines, fridges, right up to the kick boards etc. The corners are beautifully pointed too and just the right size and angle for getting a wonderful clean between skirting board corners etc.
3: The wonderfully long handle, I’m 5.6ft and the last steam mop I had gave me back ache having to stoop over with it’s shorter handle, this one is the perfect height, and I imagine a dream for taller people too!
4: The fact that the microfibre mop head has a whole fleece type material backing rather than just a few points for attachment, so you can whack it on and it’s stuck in place, no fussing about trying to line it up to get it to stick properly. It’s also slightly larger than the mop head so when it’s attached there’s extra overlapping the edges to enable every part, including those lovely sharp edges and corners to do wonderful job cleaning!
5: The fact you get TWO of the cloth mop heads!
6: The large water reservoir holds 400ml Max which was the perfect amount to do a really thorough job on my kitchen Floor (5x4m)
7: I used this in MAX steam and it left no puddles anywhere, even when I paused in places to deal with a child, and the whole floor dried really fast too!
The only thing I would comment on as negative is that there’s no clip at the top of the handle near the cable tidy to hold the cable in place to stop it unraveling as you’re cleaning, (most electrical appliances have these) however it was swiftly remedied by my husband with a rubber cable tidy/bag sealer!
LOVE LOVE LOVE my new cleaner, cleaning the floor with In a house of 3 messy boys is an absolute effortless doddle now!!
I have had several steam mops over the years, but this is the best yet! I have a mix of tiles floors and laminate and found it difficult to get a good clean on the laminate as previous mops made it too wet. The Vileda mop makes light work of them, as there is a steam adjuster knob which can be turned to low, so I get gleaming, clean laminate floors now! If there is a slight downside, I think the length of cord could be a metre longer, but really that’s just me being picky. I found it great value for money and am so pleased I chose this one, it really is the best Steam Mop Ever!!
I love this product! Cleans the floors like a dream! I use it all the time! Very well made and easy to use. The only downside is that I wish I could see how much water is inside the unit. I’ve spilled water many times when filling it up because I can’t see how much I have in there. I also wish the pads were not white. It’s difficult to get the stains out But otherwise very good. This product isn’t bulky at all and stores well. I highly recommend this product! I love i
I ordered this steam mop as previously was a good experience to use Vileda manually.
So, it’s like a dream. Works perfectly, I’m very happy with it. For short people whose under 5″3 (160cm) like me it can be a bit uncomfortable to use because basically the steam mop is tall.
I have had a dirty carpet and now is nearly white and I used once to discover the original colour of the carpet! Tiles are stunningly beautiful and shiny. Yuuuhuuu
The other important thing is if you want to make longer this fantastic steam mop life in this case ALWAYS USE DISTILLED WATER because tap water can damage perfectly.
Also the fibre clothes are easy to clean. Personally, I didn’t put it in the washing machine. What I did is I put water to the kettle, boiled the water and I put the water into a bucket with domestos and washing machine power and left it for 24 hours. After I took out the clothes I removed the water and left it on the bathroom radiator to dry. It dries itself over 2 hour and look like brand new!
I hope it was informative. My experience is really good and I am extremely happy as I gave a chance to try this amazing steam mop.
My message to the Vileda Company Team is keep up the great work! Well done!
When you’re using it , it glides across the floor , so no exertion needed . As it’s triangular , it fits into corners – the head swivels as you move it , so it’s literally no hassle . If you have any heavy use areas that need a bit of extra oomph , just hold the cleaner still for a few seconds , and the steam does the work .
It’s compact , so I’ve managed to stand it in a small cupboard . The lead is very long , so unless you have very large rooms , you probably won’t need to unplug and plug in elsewhere . It holds 400m of water , so I’m able to do my kitchen , lounge and bathroom with one tank . Having said that , my house is quite small , but there is an alarm doh d when the tank needs refilling . As I said , it heats up in 15 seconds , so it wouldn’t be a nuisance to refill .
A tip from girly me to you : as it just uses hot water to clean , and I do like a scented cleaning spray , I bought a bottle of ironing water and used that as part of the water I put in the tank . I used 50ml of it in 400ml of water , and it smelt lovely .
I’m 60 this year , not quite as energetic as I used to be , and the ease of use with this steamer is amazing . I wish I’d bought it years ago
Used every other day in the kitchen over the past three weeks. Plenty of steam, and the vinyl floor tiles come up well, though I always do them twice, leaving the first wash to dry first and do a second clean about 20 minutes later. I’m not sure where the comments about flimsy handles and burning cords spring from, my own experience to date has been good. Very easy to use, refill, attach / detach mop heads (which incidentally are a doddle to clean). Stands upright and stable when not in use. Altogether an excellent piece of kit for 60.
PS I wanted to include a photo of my husband using it but he wouldn’t let me 🙂
The steam cleaner itself is so easy to use, the on/off button is at the back and the dial to turn the steam power is on the front. It comes with a small jug which makes filling with water so simple. I don’t know why people are moaning about emptying it either, if I do have any water left I just take off the cap, go over to the sink and tip it to the side (swoosh it around a bit) and make sure the water is all gone – easy!
Storage is perfect as the steam cleaner is free standing, so it fits perfectly in my cupboard under the stairs! No having to rest it against something. It’s also fairly light weight so it can be moved around the house with minimal effort.
Once cleaned, the floor dries quickly! This is another bonus as nobody wants to be stuck standing in the corner waiting for the floor to dry!
Overall, and for the price, this steam cleaner is great and I would definitely recommend it!!
Used to clean tiled and laminated floors and am pleased with the results. While it is easy to use it is basically unstable, especially as the cable weighs more than the equipment, so care has to be taken to ensure it does not topple over when left for a few moments to move furniture etc. and storing. Health & Safety guidance was in large print while the assembly instructions were in much smaller font and not at all clear and I am not certain that the ones I received were for the correct model.
Heats up very quickly-very quickly indeed .
Only negative is that there is no water line / view when refilling but easily overcome.
Have bought one for my dad and two other family members have purchased the same after reviewing mine .
Excellent steamer , highly recommended
The first time I used it I sprayed some lavender flash cleaner on the floor but that made the floor really sticky and streaky. Since I have just used the mop with water and no other products and it doesn’t leave streaks and cleans fine on its own. The only thing is it does still leave my laminate very slightly sticky, I don’t know why? The cord could also do with being slightly longer. My shark Hoover can go around my hole bungalow without changing plug sockets but I do need to switch with this mop.
Overall, happy with the product and glad I made the switch!
Very quick heating time and glides with a little effort.
I bought the steamer as I have two messy 2yo and really needed to get a quick clean up, does just the job. Also, needed for daily cleans on entry/exit ways to keep those germs and viruses away.
Haven’t tried it on the carpets/rugs just yet so will need to do an edit if I can.
My dislike is that it’s not able to clean other furniture e.g sofas, doors, handles etc, strictly floor, but otherwise a great product.
Thanks Amazon/seller
Stay Safe 🙂
I brought this mop to replace my russell hobs steam mop which stopped working after a few months so far I’m very impressed . The steam output is really good . I only need it on the lowest setting. The handle is long . As I’m 6ft this is helpful . Handle is easy to push and swivels to get into awkward corners . The pads stay on well and are easily washed undamaged . It’s really easy to setup and use and floor drys within minutes with no streaks . I’ve heard people moaning about wet floors but that’s just because the steam is on to high with 4 children grubby feet and hands I highly recommend . Hopefully it will last longer than a few months
So pleased that I finally bought a Vileda Steam mop. Fast delivery and easy to assemble. Tiled and wooden flooring done in no time and they look so much cleaner than after using a mop and bucket. Much drier too so my socks didn’t end up as wet! I’d read other reviews, so kept the steam low for wooden floors and higher for the kitchen tiles. This worked well. Love that the cleaning pads are machine washable. I did order extra pads but they seem pretty sturdy, so the ones provided with the mop will probably last for ages. Oh, and the triangular mop head swivels, so it is great for awkward corners . I haven’t tried the carpet attachment yet.
Cons- Can’t think of any. Time will tell, but I guess if it is treated properly nothing untoward will occur. Watch this space!
Please note that there is no trigger – the steam comes continuously, which for me is actually a big bonus but maybe not for everyone? you can still stop the steam by switching it off, of course.
I have white floorboards so it is quite easy to check whether the steam mop is effective or not – it is! I also use it on my carpet, do not expect it to come out thoroughly cleaned but it’s definitely refreshed.
Really happy so far, hope it lasts well.
so really pleased about that. Cleaned bathroom and kitchen vinyl floors, most certainly cleaner than a mop and bucket, plus steamed lounge carpet, hopefully ridding it of mites and any other pests for my westies itchy skin.
It certainly has made a noticeable difference on vinyl floors. Can’t wait to use it again. Only downside, though I would still buy it, is the glider for carpets, if you lift up mop it falls off, irritating! .. Will call company, and hopefully they can sort it.
No trigger to pull, on/off button takes 15 secs to start.
Only thing negative is the cable is shorter than the other products but that’s not a real problem.
We’ll worth the money.
It came packed in just the manufacturers box with no additional resources used by Amazon, which I was pleased with. It was easy to put together and started up straight away having filled out up with water. It took 30 seconds or so to start vibrating, telling me it was ready for use. I have a bad back but the mop was light to use and very easy to apply, with no pressure needed to get the dirt up. You can see the results on the photo! The mop head stayed on throughout, the mop stood up on its own and it was easy to refill the water when needed. I really have no issues at all with the product and am pleased I bought it. I used the mop on it’s lowest temperature to also clean a rather less dirty engineered wooden hall and there were no problems at all. I can recommend the product and intend to use it monthly to keep my kitchen clean.
The item arrived in good time and has done a reasonable job on the tile and lino floors I have tried it on. My partner had problems with the cloth cleaning attachment on the cleaning head rolling up when she tried steam cleaning one of the lino floors. You have to make sure the velcro type connection points are firmly pressed down. Even-so the lino floor offers more friction against the cleaning cloth than a tiled floor does and I to found a tendency for the cloth to start rolling up. Twiddling with the cloth when it is hot from steam is not a joy. My partner is shorter than I and so the cleaning angle may be relevant. I have not used the carpet cleaning feature because Ii have no carpets. My previous steam cleaner, an H2O, simply stopped working permanently one day, which was very annoying because I had not used it all that much. As long as the Vileda does not go the same way, I’ll be happy with it.
I’d been considering a floor steamer for ages and was getting myself bogged down with all of the options and reviews. In the end I took the plunge on this (over a Shark model at twice the price), thanks to a couple of reviews which stood out. I’m so glad I did!
I’ve just used it for the first time after quickly mopping the floor over first to give it a fighting chance, and – yikes!!!! The cloth speaks for itself!
We live semi-rurally on a single track lane surrounded by farmland, but we do of course clean our boots outside and take off shoes as we come in, although we’re not overly precious with visitors doing the same as it’s a simple slate floor. We also have two dogs, who we wipe down before they come in when wet, but, well…. dogs!
I was a little concerned at how the steamer would cope on our floor as – piccies attaches – we have some really uneven tiles which will easily rip a sponge mop head. I have to say it coped no problem at all, although I found it easier to sweep it from side to side or pull it backwards rather than use it in a vacuuming motion. The lead is not quite long enough to reach to the furthest corner of our room from the one plug which I use for vacuuming. I was really quite thorough and certainly didn’t rush, yet still had water left in the reservoir and so can do the full room without needing to top up. Because the cloth extends slightly beyond the steamer head it easily reaches into corners (and indeed can slide under the feet of the table legs where they don’t sit flush on the floor), so managing a closer clean than any mop can.
So far, so pleased! I’ve dropped a star simply because a) the lead is not quite long enough for our requirements (that’s just us though), and b) even though I didn’t need to top up I’d have quite liked a reservoir window to see how much water was left, but this a personal preference – it lets you know when it needs refilling.
The floor looks better than it has ever looked, including the day it was laid! You don’t get the same ‘fresh floor’ smell as you do when mopping as it is only cleaning with steam and you can only add water to the tank, but I rinsed out the cloth in floor cleaner and swept over again as a final finish, which released some fragrance. I have read some people splash some on the floor first, just for the scent (as you don’t need it to clean). Really pleased; had my room been smaller so I didn’t have to switch sockets I think I’d have given 5 stars!

I used the steamer on a plastic laminate floor, and it was left covered in scratches! I can only assume that the cloth had slipped off the Velcro, which subsequently scored the floor. Thankfully they have all but polished out, but I now use clips and string to ensure that the cloth always covers the mop head in its entirety. I continue to love this for tiled floors, but wouldn’t recommend for laminate given my experience.
Was fed up of using a standard floor mop and still not quite getting the cleanliness I wanted. So bit the bullet and bought this steam mop. Easy to assemble and use. Get’s into most nooks and corners, doesn’t leave the floor as wet as a traditional mop so dry in half the time. I have several floor types, lino, tiled and laminate works a treat on all of them. If I have any real dirty bits I put a bit of floor cleaner down and then steam. Reason for 4 stars and not 5 is there should be a button on the handle for ease of removing it quickly if you have limited storage. It is nearly impossible to use, so handle stays attached.
Never had a steam mop before so hard to compare to anything but this was easy to use out of the box. Ready to use in seconds it is much easier than filling a buckets and hauling that around and still wondering if the floors are clean or if you are just swishing dirt from room to room. The adjustable steam setting is nice and it leaves our floors feeling very fresh in a way regular mop systems never did. It is now used regularly and where I used to dread mopping it’s actually a very satisfying chore knowing the floors are super clean (esp with two kittens about). I know I won’t be going back to regular mops again. Very happy!
This steam mop has been such a time-saver and I can now cover the kitchen, conservatory, living room and bathroom in just ten minutes or so. The amount of dirt removed by the steam action and soft pad is remarkable and there’s a visible and tactile difference.
The variable steam flow allows the mop to be used safely on all sorts of surfaces and it has been fine with our laminate flooring (for which I adjust the flow rate to the minimum setting). The cleaning pads attach by Velcro and so are easily affixed and removed and wash very well at 40 – 60C.
The mop is ready to use from cold in just a few seconds and is easily refilled. The power cord is sufficiently long to cover a couple of good-sized rooms. With a reasonably well-ventilated room, drying time is as little as a few minutes, so no worries about residual moisture or a lasting slip hazard.
For the price, this is an excellent addition to the cleaning cupboard and has all but rendered the traditional mop, bucket and detergents redundant!
The mop has a decent length of handle and a good long, sturdy, cable. The head manoeuvres easily and gets into all the edges. I was pleased that it could reach under the edge of all of the kitchen machinery.
I was astonished by how easy it was to use, and how quickly it cleaned the floor. When I’d finished the floor I rinsed the cloth under the tap with a bit of dishwashing liquid and then tried the carpet glider. My goodness…it brought the rugs up like new !
A hoover to the rugs before and after using the steamer removed dog hair that I hadn’t even realised was there.
It feels lovely to have such a great result so quickly. The mop stands to attention when not in use and the wire winds up onto the handle.
This machine is ACE !
I bought this as I was fed up with using a mop and bucket to clean the floor. This was very easy to put together. It comes with a small jug with a measurement of up to 200 ml as that is the maximum amount of water the Vileda Steam mop can hold at any one time. There is a small lid on the back of the device which you twist to take off and then pour the water into the body of the machine. Once you switch the machine on it takes probably about 30 seconds to heat up before you hear the steam. Once you start moving the device across the floor the steam cleans the floor area. It is recommended that you hoover the area before cleaning but I was surprised how easy this was to use. If you run out of water the machine just stops really. It also come with two floor cleaning pads which are very easy to attach to the bottom of the machine. Only one pad is needed at a time and after I had finished using I simply put the pads in the washing machine on 60 degree wash and they came up very clean. Certainly cleaner than I thought they would. I also thought it was a very good price as well.
Really easy to put together , takes up very little room for storage .I had never owned a steamer before but I am so glad I bought this one based on the name and customer reviews and I just wanted a steamer that does one job really well. I was not disappointed. I use deionised water as I live in a hard water area. The steamer heats up very quickly and cleans really thoroughly ,I will never use a cloth and bucket or sponge cleaners that go flat and black again. It gets into all the corners as the head swivels, it leaves a clean dry floor and the mop head can be hand-washed or put into the washing machine .I also use it to keep rugs fresh and remove any surface stains with the carpet glider. No chemicals needed, quick and easy and very light to use.
This is a nifty bit of kit. Extremely easy to use, you can get started in under 5 mins. Starts producing steam within a few seconds. Its light to use but has a good sturdy feel. The water tank holds 400ml and I did 3 medium sized hard floors on max steam setting and it used less than half a tank. It was a delight to use the build quality felt great. Floors were cleaned and sanitised without the use of detergents. Doesn’t leave surfaces soaked either. Im very very happy with my purchase. My dad has a much more expensive Shark steamer and this vileda one is better, the triangle swivel head shape is great for getting into the nooks & crannies.
Happy custome
Never liked steam cleaning before as it made everything wet and by the time you messed around with all the attachments, you could have cleaned quicker by hand. However, this little gem of a steamer has changed my mind. For a start, it’s soooo simple and easy to use. You plug it in, fill with water, plonk the head on a cleaning pad and away you go. The instructions are obsolete – you don’t need them. It cleans my tiled kitchen floor in minutes and doesn’t leave it too wet. Works a treat on the floor around the loo as well. The lead is nice and long and i can do the whole downstairs floors without refilling the water tank. I love this mop. It’s the perfect floor steamer as far as I’m concerned. Can’t recommend enough.
This steam mop is excellent. It cleans floors quickly and doesn’t leave the floors too wet. I found that as long as you move the steam mop fast enough (as if you’re hoovering) the floors are practically dry after a couple of minutes. I use it on laminate and polished wooden floors and it leaves them shiny and clean. I find it a lot easier and quicker to use than a mop and bucket and it leaves hardly any wipe-marks like a mop and bucket does. After a few uses I found that my floors were more shiny as if the residue of all the chemicals had been removed. I store my mop on top of the carpet attachment so it does not get anything stuck to the velcro. The pad sticks very well and is easy to clean – it can be washed at 60 degrees!! and comes out of the washing machine near enough dry. As I live in a very hard water area I empty the water reservoir before storing to prevent limescale build up. The cord is long enough to do quite a large area of my house. No complaints so far!!
The dials and switches are sturdy and durable – solid… no complaints
The mops heads are washable and wash up like new – even after a year of weekly 95C washes!
Works very well WHEN switched on. Good head of steam. Very light weight, can be picked up with one finger. Yes a very good buy
It came well packed and I like the snazzy black and red livery. Setup was easy enough and filling the water tank is a doddle with the chunky filler cap and jug provided. You then plonk (technical term) the device squarely (ok triang-ley) onto one of the two microfiber pads provided. Press the button, select your steam power (keep it low for wood floors) and you’re off for some steamy fun. Performance is just as good as other devices I’ve used, no better no worse but this item does feel better built and there is no separate tank to come loose like on my old Vax. I’m not a fan of the rather awkward power switch hidden under clear plastic on the back and it’s also worth mentioning that this steamer is very tall. I’m just over six foot and this nearly reaches my nips. It would be nice to be able lower the handle particularly when storing. Also, the handle has no soft grip so is quite uncomfortable in use. I bought some racket tape off ebay for a couple of pounds and that has improved it a lot.
So far so good, it feels built to last and cleans well without the expense of extra cleaning fluids and I can even use the pads from my old Vax with it. Result.
Very happy with my purchase, although over double the price of the Amazon warehouse deal for the original steamer (VAX). Should probably have returned the original from the beginning, especially now since I have had this one and realised just how much the other was a waste of time. The plus and minus for the Vileda mop is as follows: if the power is on, it’s on, you can’t stop the steam, as you could with the VAX (in theory), and it does seem to get the floors much wetter. However, the plus is, you don’t have to keep a button depressed to get the steam, which did get very tiring (when it took 3 hours + to clean the kitchen floor due to lack of steam, this makes a lot of difference). I do think that floor steamers are pricey for what they are, however, using this steamer so far is a doddle, and the job is done speedily as anticipated when bought.
IT is an amazing product, it does the job perfectly and it is very easy to use
As a Childminder, I really like this this product — it is extremely versatile and gives me great peace of mind where cleanliness and bugs are concerned.
I have heard several friends talk about steam mops and because I have always found Vileda to be good quality, I decided to go for one of these due to the amount of dirt coming in and out of my house all day with groups of children as well as my 2 cats.
I was impressed with how quickly it heated up and how easy it was to fill. My 11yr old daughter put it together so that was easy too! I was pleased to have 2 cleaning pads so that one can go in the washing machine (came up really well after 1st wash!).
I have so far used this on my tiled kitchen floor, Vinyl bathroom/shower room floor, carpet and 2 mattresses (with the attachment for doing carpets). I found the tiled floor quicker to wash and especially good at getting “bits” stuck to the floor that I’d usually have to scrape or mop over several times with a normal mop. It dried much quicker too. I was especially pleased of the improved finish on my very old landing and stair carpet — really fluffed up the pile and made it smell a lot fresher — especially when I hoovered this again after I’d steamed it. I did find that when I did the stair carpet, the carpet clip/head came off a couple of times, but I think this was more down to me knocking it off, as I suppose it’s not really meant for stairs!
I really liked the shape of the head (sad I know!), as this triangular shape and ball type joint on the handle, gave it great maneuverability — especially good for getting into corners and round the back of the toilet.
Due to my daughter having quite sensitive skin, I also decided to try it out on her mattress using the carpet thingy, where it worked really well. I put the steam on power to ensure the mattress didn’t take too long to dry and it dried within 10 mins. Whilst it doesn’t remove stains, it definitely made the mattress fresher and as steaming is the recommended approach for natural bed Bug control, I feel happier knowing that this should reduce the chance of any issues if used every 3 months (the bed bug cycle apparently!).
I have already recommended this to several people — in my mind great versatility, improved ease of cleaning and improved “Bug/bacteria killing” over traditional methods.
