Safe as houses
This is about the same size as one of those safes that you find in the wardrobe of hotel rooms. It needs a 8 digit pin to lock and unlock and comes with fairly simple to follow instructions on how to lock and unlock it. It will comfortably hold a couple of laptops and all your valuables and can be configured to sound an alarm if tampered with or its moved once primed.
It is quite heavy and I tried to fix it to the wall, but the wall bolts fittings pushed right through the wall when I tried so I will need to get some other ones.
All in all a discrete little safe that will keep your valuables tucked out the way. I’m sure it would deter all but the most determined thieves.
Yale Safe
I work away a lot, and I don’t like leaving things alone where I live, mostly the laptop but also hard drives and a camera. It all fits in – the height isn’t much so getting the camera in as well as the laptop is a struggle, but it fits a laptop, some small jewellery, some cash, that sort of thing.
I think it has been well thought of for the user. Batteries included, keys included, locking bolts also. It’s ready to go out the box essentially, or at least it gives you all the tools you need to use it as you wish. The key lock is cleverly hidden behind the Yale logo, and my favourite feature about it – it’s height fits under a bed.
I prefer key locks generally over code locks, as whilst a key is a physical object to steal, and more likely one to be stolen – a code has less traceability. 4-digit codes are remarkably easy to guess if you know a person well enough, as psychologically people pick ones attached to things – birthdays, pre-existing pin numbers, area codes, easy keypad runs…and it’s harder to trace who knows your code over who’s physically stolen the key.
If you’re in and out of it a lot, the keypad will start to show code wear. It can get a bit jammy where you miss out a number if you don’t press hard enough. Not a problem, just a bit annoying.
Overall, a great safe, one of the best ones in terms of build and construction i’ve ever used – flimsy is not a word to attach to this. If you don’t have access via the code, there’s no way anyone is getting in.

Good safe for a small amount of valuables
This is a good Safe for a small amount of valuables. It comes with a divider that can be taken out. We’re only going to use it for a small amount of things like deeds and passports so it is a good size for these. The instructions were easy enough to set up, put in the provided batteries and follow the guide. If the batteries go flat there is a (emergency) key to use to open and replace them. It is a good size for a small amount of items and can be attached to the floor/wall with the fittings it came with. A weighty sturdy construction gives a bit of peace of mind that a fair amount of noise would be created trying to get inside should an opportunist try to get inside.

Big lump of metal that needs to be secured to a floor or wall...
This is a medium sized safe with an elctronic lock. Should you forget the combination you’ve decided on (anything from 4-10 digits) it does come with two keys that enable you to override the electronic lock. It also comes with four bolts to enable you to secure it to a floor or wall. The alarm sets when you enter the code and lock the safe. Any subsequent tampering will set off a very loud (scared the cats) alarm. I was disappointed that there was no internal shelf, so what you have is effectively a medium sized cave. It’s also important to note that this safe is not fireproof, so any documents in their that you want to keep you may wish to upgrade to a safe that rated as fireproof. For basic day to day use it’s a good solid safe that will keep your valuables safe if you secure it and use a reasonably long passcode. It comes complete with batteries as well which is something not all manufacturers supply.
Sturdy little safe for the home with alarm deterrent.
This Yale alarmed safe is ideal for someone who has a few small valuable items in their home but needs occasional access to those items without wanting the faff of hunting down the keys. They would also value a built-in alarm to provide an added deterrent to would-be thieves or opportunist householders who want to try to get at your stuff. It’s classed as a ‘Medium’ sized safe which we are using to keep our house deeds, non-used bank cards, passports and some other small valuables, and there is plenty of space. I wouldn’t want anything larger, personally, but I could imagine people wanting to store a laptop in a safe, and this size is not big enough for a standard 15″ screen laptop. It might fit a smaller ‘ultrabook’ in though.
The keypad and alarm are powered by batteries. You should diarise to check/replace the batteries every year or two – although it does at least have a red LED indicator to advise you that the battery is low – which is a helpful addition. You are given three attempts to get your access code correct before it sounds the siren.
If you do use a keypad type device very frequently then there is a risk that the repeated pressing of the same buttons over and over again will create a visual indication as to which buttons are the most worn, but that’s the risk you take with keypads like this.
Provided you locate the safe in a concealed location, secure it to the surface, don’t keep the associated keys nearby and are just generally discrete about things, this safe will be a useful addition to your home.
For a price of c. 77 (at time of review) that’s a fair price but you’re paying extra just for the alarm feature here, as Amazon are selling the non-alarmed version for about 40 (at time of review).
Good value
This is a home safe, similar to the ones many will have seen in use in hotels the world over. It arrived promptly and very well packaged, and the overall impression is that this is a very well made, very well priced safe, which should suit the home user, keen to store anything up to the size of a laptop (our 15″ one went in with space to spare).
The main features are the simple locking mechanism, for which you choose your own code (apparently 100,000+ combinations of 3 to 8 digit codes) and you also have a mechanical over-ride with keys, just in case. There are two LED light indicators, green to open, red for error or low battery and you get a kit to allow the safe to be fixed to a wall or floor – while we haven’t done that yet, it looks simple enough to do for a competent DIY e

Simple and strong
This seems like a great safe. It comes with four bolts to secure it to either the floor, or the wall using pre-drilled holes. Also provided are the four AA batteries required to set up the pin code access which appears to allow for pin codes between 3 and 8 digits long. The safe also has two override access keys, and an inbuilt tamper alarm.
It’s obviously reasonably heavy and you can tell it is a good quality safe. Yale are a trusted name in the world of security and this product does not let them down.

Doubly safe with the tamper alarm and we have secured in place with screws which is an added level of protection. I like this little safe. It is rather like the ones you get in hotel rooms – with the advantage that you get a couple of keys for a hard over ride when the batteries go flat and your PIN is not accepted. It is easy to set uo and you can have upto a eight digit pin. Don’t use your DOB – that is the first number that will be tried. It comes with batteries and floor or wall bolts, which you really should use if you want this to offer any real security.
I have paid less for an equivalent safe, so I don’t think this is brilliant value. That said it wont breal the bank, and it get you in the habit of having a secure place for stuff.

Easy to use and sturdy
Yale is known as one of those big brands in the security industry. I cannot help but feel, though, that the cost of this safe is rather hiked by virtue of the brand name which is probably the main negative I would attribute to this product.
In terms of size – it is not as big as some but it has an ample storage compartment for small cameras and valuables that you would want for safe keeping (see image for a slightly more meaningful view from before installation). No complaints on this front, although a dividing shelf may be useful.
The setup of the safe is pretty straight forward – after inserting the 4 x AA batteries (which are supplied with the product), a quick reset from the inside allows you to set the code (digits only, not alphanumeric – the description is a little misleading)!
Installation wise – it comes with a few screws to lock it into place and this was not too difficult to accomplish.
Obviously worth reminding that this is not in the fireproof range but seems pretty resilient. It is certainly incredibly solid and at just over 10 kg, is also fairly weighty. Further, it has handy backup keys for the worst case scenario when the batteries fail. The key lock is neatly and cleverly concealed behind the Yale logo.
A good safe is probably something every house should have. And this is a decent size though won’t take up too much room in an average house.
It is made of tough metal you could not easily break into and inside consist of a shelf, batteries for the keypad. Bolts for it to be installed on a wall if you require and a square of carpet material for the bottom. There is also attached a pack with instructions and the two emergency keys
To open it in the initial stage you need to pull of the logo on the front and insert the key. You then pull the release and the door opens. This reveals two thick bolts what keep the door securely locked when closed.
The instructions were not the best. Not much text just diagrams so it took me a few minutes to work out what it meant. It showed up to 8 digits with three greyed. I worked out this meant you can set up to 8 digits but have a minimum of three. Once the batteries are installed you press the button above them then enter the code you desire on the keypad. I set a 6 digit code.
Once this is figured out it is easy to do.
It seems tough and sturdy. I would say if a burglar is really determined and had time if not bolted to the wall they could carry it off and with the right tools like a grinder break into it. But it will certainly be a deterrent to most.
Bolting it down is most ideal. I have elected instead to have it tucked away where it is not easy to find so burglars making a quick go through y house won’t come across it.
They two keys are only required if you forget your code or the batteries ran out.
I will leave one with my Mum and have placed the other in another mini hidden safe I have and I would advise others to not keep the keys on their person and tuck them away somewhere hidden.
Overall it is a good safe able to storer a number of valuables and documents and handy for any household.

This safe is absolutely brilliant! I have put mine in the bottom of my wardrobe to hold spare cash, gift cards, and some very precious jewellery. The safe is easy to screw down and comes with the bolt fittings. And it was super easy to set up the 4 digit number code.
You can get an awful lot in the safe. It’s not a tiny thing. About the same size you get in hotel rooms on holiday.
Value for money………. Well you can’t go wrong. It’s cheap if you ask me. Especially as it’s from a fantastic name like Yale. I shall be recommending this safe to all my friends that have holiday let’s in the UK.
Compact home safe
Yale is a well known security brand. This safe is a small metal home safe. Easy to operate – it can be opened either through using the keypad or with a traditional key (2 provided).
The safe can be secured to the wall (fixtures included). I have some reservations about doing this – I think I would rather have the safe hidden. I think a persistent robber would be able to detach the safe from the wall. However if the keypad has the wrong code entered 3 times it will alarm – very noisily!
I am happy with the safe – a great place for keeping our important documents and passports etc.

This is a brilliant home safe from Yale.
The fact of the matter these days is that we have jewellery, documents etc that need protection in the home and a safe is perfect.
This one is well made and is a digital keycode one with a key backup. I also like the alarm feature which is very very loud.
There is a good bit of space in the safe and as with all things where you put it is key. The safe is no good if a thief can pick it up and take it with them. Ensure it is bolted to a sturdy wall or somewhere out of sight. Make it as difficult and time consuming as possible to remove it. Every moment a thief spends trying to take it is one more moment they can be disturbed or stopped.
Ideal for the home
We don’t have that many valuables in a materialistic way, however, we do hold a number of items at home which require a safe, as losing the items would have a huge impact on us in terms of inconvenience, i.e. passports, important documents or sentimental value i.e. family documents etc.
So I have given this item 5 stars, is it really worth it?

Well first off, may I say that this item is unlikely to hold off a really professional thief for very long, you could either remove it from its fixings (it would take a lot of force) and open it in a safe place later, or using the right equipment, disable the locking mechanism and open it – the only thing is, that a professional thief is hardly likely to spend the time or effort on robbing me, however, the typical house break in is usually undertaken by an opportunist criminal who is looking for a quick entry and exit, using the least effort – this safe is more than a deterrent for that type of thief.
So will this stop a typical thief

I believe that it will, particularly if is is hidden in a place that no-one would suspect – consider the fake baked beans tins often sold very cheaply, I have installed our safe in quite an obscure location, bolting it to floor and wall; which took the most time after determining the least likely place to look. I fastened it into place with the supplied bolts. Accessing the safe is simple for us, but might I suggest that opening it would not be easy and removing it would be harder still, with or without sledgehammers, crowbars – effectively, all safes can be opened with the right tools, I have just made it a lot of work for very little gain.
Easy set up?

The pack is complete. Installation and setup is relatively easy, provided that you have an electric drill and masonry bits to make the holes and secure. Insert the 4 supplied batteries, set a code of up to 8 digits and the safe is set. Might I suggest that you secure the back up keys in a very safe place, or even off site, such as at a relative or neighbour’s home – just a thought, as putting them on a key hook in the kitchen reduces the amount of protection.
How much can you store?

More than I have valuables! We have stored passports and the like, some items of sentimental value and some important, but not valuable legal documents. Sufficient to fill a box file has been easily accommodated in the 40L interior with sufficient room to spare. As an experiment, I found that I was able to store two DSLR cameras and several lenses quite easily.
Is it easy to operate?

Yes very easy. Once the code is set, it is simple, just enter the code and open the door; the usage instructions are comprehensive. Should you fail to open the safe using the combination after three attempts, the siren goes off and in a confined space, the noise really is quite loud – certainly enough to make it uncomfortable, particularly for someone who managed to remove the safe as it would continually go off, whilst they were transporting it!
Is there anything that could be improved

You get what you pay for and when we move to a new house, I will probably install the same size and type of safe, but one with fire protection too. Belt and braces really, fire and theft. I am not a fan of digital keypads as they are more prone to failure, however, with a key back up, this should not be a problem. I am very much a supporter of manual locking mechanisms as they function in exactly the same way as a motorised version, without the drain on batteries. Basically allowing for the keypad, this is a lot of item for the money.
In summary, a great home safe, sturdy and easy to install and fit. It is significantly more sturdy that the type I encounter in hotels or on cruise ships and is highly recommended to prevent the loss of valuable home items or documents,

I don’t think you need to be particular security conscious (or is that a sliding scale through worry to paranoia?) or, more like me, in wanting ‘peace of mind’ for those things that either essential, precious or both! if you go looking for a safe.
Yale’s a name that I think everyone will be familiar with. Certainly my experience of name comes from their (long) line of ‘lock and key’, but this is the first time that I’ve tried one of their other security products.
So, what do you get? Well, you’re going to get one fairly large, and weighty, box delivered. Be prepared for a 15″ x 15″ (square section) by 16″ height. It’s not ‘really heavy’, but it’s neither the sort of thing that you’d send to elderly parents, nor want to have to carry up several flights of stairs.
The first tip is, to keep it boxed while moving it into the room / position that you want, before unpacking.
Once you’re inside, you get:
1. The ‘YEC/390/DB1’ (or ‘Value Safe’) Safe
2. Instructions, both for installation and operation
3. Fixings, to help you secure it to a suitable wall or floor.
4. Keys (for the manual lock)
I also got a pack of batteries (not sure if these are always included), which are needed to setup the electronic lock.
Setup is actually really simple. I was surprised just how simple if was to get things up and running, with my preferred PIN; and I like the simple / functional lever and combination panel.
The manual lock also works well, so there’s always a back-up / way of entry, should the batteries run flat.
Size wise, it actually find this a really useful, versatile size; where I can fit in all my essentials (laptop, camera, passport, watch, etc.) and still have plenty space left over.
It’s probably work noting that there’s no shelf or dividers, but it’s a nice useable space.
As for construction, the black finish looks nice (I’ve got this tucked away) and feels well made (I can’t comment on just how secure the locking pins and hinges will be to an attack) so I’ve got pretty much what I expected, with the bonus of it being nice and easy to operate.
There are a few little things that niggle me though, and those really come down to personal choices. They are:
1. I’m not the biggest fan of the choice of the ‘radial key;. My reason is that I was warned again this type of lock / key for a motorcycle disc lock, so it seems an odd choice for a safe, if there are better options available.
2. I’ve gone over the paperwork a few times, but I haven’t yet found anything that says if this is ‘Sold Secure’ (or other accreditations).
So, in practical terms, it’s perfectly suited to most needs, as it’s perfect functional, well made and easy to operate. I can also testify that the 130db siren is every bit as loud as you might expect.
Will it resist a sustained attack, if someone’s determined to get into it? Probably not, but then I’m not sure I’d want to be in the room when the alarm is sounding (or the neighbour for that matter), but I was rather hoping that there would be some sort of certificate or assurance that this really was ‘safe’.
It’s a tough choice, as I really quite like this safe, but a quick browse of Yale’s own catalogue shows that there are comparable sized safes (in the non ‘value’ range) which are ‘certified’, and for very little more. I guess the trade-off is between simplicity of use or that extra peace of mind.

Good Quality Basic Safe
Not particularly heavy so it is good that it comes with a pair of expanding bolts, to secure it either from the back or underneath.
Easy enough to set up, although I did miss a step in the instructions and kept setting the alarm off. You’ll hear the alarm within the house but it isn’t so loud that neighbours will wonder about the noise.
About the size of the safes I come across quite often in hotels. The keypad has alpha and numerics on it, so you can use a word or a numeric code.
It comes with two keys that can open the safe regardless, so keep them somewhere very safe. I do like the note on the safe that tells you not to keep them inside the safe!
For this price (63.22 at the time of review) this is a very good purchase and can help reduce house contents insurance with some insurers.

Fantastic little safe!
First of all I have to admit I found it hard to open because the instructions didn’t make it clear that the key hole cover (a plastic “Yale” logo) has to be unscrewed and popped out (the instructions make it look like it slides to the left to access the keyhole – I guess this is to make it less obvious to potential thieves).
The safe literally came with batteries which was a nice surprise, it needs four AA batteries to function. Once the batteries are in, it’s straight forward enough to set the codes and use it electronically but if you’re a bit wary of the electronics, it does work just by key if the batteries aren’t in.
It had an alarm and it’s quite shrill (for me anyway) if someone tries to get in to it so you will be alerted if someone is trying to break into it while you’re home.
It’s a sturdy little thing and has weight but it isn’t too heavy. He door had a good lever that is sturdy and not easy to turn unless tsnunlocked which makes me feel secure about what will be in it.
Very happy with product. Would be a great product to have in the home of parents with untrustworthy teens or for people who have roommates they can’t trust. Fantastic also if you’re the kind of person who wants to have money out of the bank to save (which is common with people prone to online gambling or Online shopping addicts).
Over all I think everyone should have this small safe, once you’ve got it you’ll be thankful for that peace of mind.
Easy Setup, Sturdy Safe
Easy to program with the 8-digit numerical code of your choice. Electrical keypad entry system is powered by 4 AA batteries, which are included with the safe. Two physical keys are also provided. These can be used to bypass the electronics and gain entry (handy if the battery power runs out, or you forget your 8-digit code). Locking the safe doesn’t automatically arm the alarm. The user can choose whether or not to activate the alarm. It’s easy to arm/disarm, and is also pretty loud (130 dB – the same volume as a military jet aircraft take-off from an aircraft carrier with afterburner at 50 ft). I deliberately set it off to check the volume. Loud. All in all, this is a sturdy, user-friendly safe. It comes with bolts that allow it to be fixed to a wall.

if your looking for a simple and secure safe to keep things under lock and key then this might be what you need.
comming with two bolts to secure it to a wall ( its quite light in the way of a safe) this little safe has an easy code setting and resetting sytem with a built in alarm should you enter the code incorrectly 3 times ( 4 batteries for this included). It also has a master key to overide the panel should you forget your code. the safe will fit passports and paperwork ( 45 size or folded) or jewelly etc.)

An excellent quality safe for home use
This was quite easy to install by a friend who had the right tools and confidence to drill into our brick walls (fixing bolts and raw plugs provided). Obviously, fixing the safe securely is important as it is not that large or heavy and can be easily lifted and carried off.
Once in place, the safe works very well. You have a programmable key pad for the combination and also a high pitched siren if the door is opened ‘illegally’. If the battery dies or you forget the combination, don’t worry as there are two master keys provided, so the safe door can be opened mechanically.
Yale clearly have a superb reputation and this safe is ideal for the home environment to keep things like money, passports, watches, jewellery. Highly recommended. Very strong metal walls.
Great safe - with a great name to i
This a very nice looking safe, very solid (it weighs just over 10 kilos) that can be screwed or bolted to the floor or wall – there are four expanding bolts supplied although to be honest I am getting some longer ones to suit where its being sited – plus a choice of four pre-drilled holes in both the base and the back wall for affixing it to either floor or wall as preferred or whatever. It comes with clear instructions regarding the digital lock operation and is pretty much straight forward and understandable with the instruction by way of diagrams/drawings plus words. The pack of four batteries are included so you have the choice of using the digital form of opening (or why would you buy a digital safe and not use it?) or using the two supplied keys, which you need to open it up initially to set the digital code etc. Inside the actual safe it’s quite spartan with a thin, basic piece of what seems like micro fibre felt material as a bottom ‘liner’ – we have replaced it with a thin carpet off cut on both the middle shelf and the base in case we should or need to store anything fragile in there. The locking mechanism once set up with your code number of choice works well and would perhaps deter a thief – the actual physical key hole is covered by the Yale logo in the form of a ‘click out’ plastic plug – I ‘sprung’ it out with a blunt knife edge so as not to mark or scratch it. The alarm fitted to it is, well, loud – no, VERY loud! It should be said however that this is primarily a home or small business safe and is not fire proof and nor is it at any point suggested as such but think I should point that out while reviewing. We will be installing it in our spare room come office/hobby room bolted to the wall but by chance we have an old, small size cupboard we were going to throw out but by ‘cannibalising’ it, we can place the bare shell of it over the safe so nobody is the wiser as it looks just like a cupboard after all and certainly does not look out of place. For the current cost (as reviewed May 2019) it’s very good value plus with the Yale name on the front, its got a good pedigree name-wise as all the high security locks at one place of my past employment were all this make and we never had no problems. Very recommended overall.
Safe, Secure, Peace of Mind
My only previous experience with a safe is the type you find in a hotel, usually located in the
wardrobe.
This Yale – classified as a Large Alarmed Safe – is certainly a definite upgrade on that.
For a start it is larger with two areas to place valuables -at the bottom of the safe and an upper
shelf.
It can easily accommodate, items of jewellery, ranging from rings to watches to bracelets and necklaces
and also importantly documents for example driving licences, passports, birth certificates and so on.
In addition it will also take in our two iPods and a small laptop. So a good space.
In fact it will house all the important facets , documentation, jewellery, keys. It gives you peace of mind
and it is easily accessible. So forget about under the mattress or inside the tea caddy this safe has it all
covered.
Setting it up is so easy. Install the four batteries provided so you can key in the 3 to 8 digit code. The safe
is heavyish -almost 15kg and you also have the opportunity to bolt it (with bolts and screws provided,) to
a secure position.
Some insurance companies, dependant on your valuables of course, offer a modest discount, if you have a safe.
So that’s worth a try.
Overall, robustly constructed, user friendly and secure.
Well made little safe with a LOUD alarm!
What struck me most was the compact size, at 9″ deep this will easily fit on bookshelves and a few false book spines will easily conceal it from prying eyes. I have utilized this and bolted the safe to the wall behind the book shelves and it makes for a well concealed safe place for smaller valuables. The substantial bolts will prevent all but the most determined unauthorised efforts to open it and the securing bolts will prevent all but the most determined efforts to remove it. It comes with the combination lock, a set of batteries and two over-ride keys which for obvious reasons should be stored elsewhere. Sturdy and substantial this is an easy five stars.

Safe and (very load) sound!
If you’ve ever been abroad and had a safe in the bottom of the wardrobe in your room, then you’ll be familiar with this type of safe. It is very well made, quite heavy and bolts to the wall through the inside. The electronic lock allows you to set a passcode (using numbers or letters) and there is a key lock for emergencies such as the batteries going flat while it is locked, how unique the key is I don’t know. You can set a passcode between 3 and 8 characters long which you enter to lock and unlock the safe. They include four heavy duty bolts for fixing it to your wall (though it needs support under it as well) and they also include the required batteries to get you going. The bonus here is that it also includes a 130db alarm which should put most wannabe thieves off! There is a pictorial guide sheet that tells you how to install and use it. The fact that it is made by Yale gives me confidence in it’s quality and reliability.
The door rattles but it seems sturdy
I’ve used lots of mini safes when staying in hotels, where you have to figure out how they work and trust that they keep your possessions secure. One thing I’m sure all of them had in common was a much thicker casing – not all metal, but somehow constructed so that the inside dimensions were much smaller than outside. This Yale safe seems different in that it is a steel box but the door and walls are just only as thick as the steel they’re made from.
The door hinges on the right, and including the black textured paint on inside and outside measures 4.17mm thick. It’s hard to measure the thickness of the box walls but I think they’re 1.97mm thick, so if someone is going to try and drill their way in then the back, sides, top and bottom will be more yielding than the front door.
There are four holes to secure the box to a solid surface in the back of the box, and another four holes in the base. There’s a sheet of grey felt covering the base to protect your possessions when they’re inside. The four supplied bolts seem sturdy enough with steel rawplugs. They are 44mm long and you might feel the need to use longer bolts based on your particular setup.
The thinner box walls make a hollow sound when you tap them, while the front door sounds a bit more reassuring. The whole thing weighs quite a lot but a thief would have no difficulty carrying it away if you don’t secure it to something.
The lock and alarm system is made of a mixture of metal and plastic and I suspect it relies quite heavily on its alarm feature which makes an annoying noise that might deter a casual thief who is trying to guess your pass code. Being a plastic keypad, if you use it a lot I suspect it will eventually show evidence of which numbers you press, so you might consider changing your combination periodically.
It took a while for me to figure out how to remove the yellow Yale logo to reveal the keyhole in the front, and I found the instructions a bit irritating in their bid to express how the lock works without using words. The most annoying thing is forgetting your pass code which requires a bit of resetting and relearning the instructions, so you’ll need to keep the keys and instructions safe, and not inside the locked safe!
With eight holes for securing it in place, and a rattly front door this is definitely not a waterproof safe so you need to consider flood and water damage risks. It also attracts attention if a burglar finds it, and I suspect any competent safe cracker would be inside it within minutes – the inner shell of the locking mechanism is made of plastic after all.
In summary – the Yale logo gives you some reassurance, but there is quite a bit of plastic involved in the locking system and I suspect this safe isn’t the most secure way of keeping your valuables where you want them. That’s largely down to its quite reasonable cost though. The inside space is very big, so you can store quite a bit in there.
Smart safe
This is a good quality smart looking safe (as they go…) and it has a decent capacity inside to store a fair few important things. We will use ours for passports and small items. Its not huge and wont fit it important large documents without a fold so would need a larger version for that, but if you are looking for something to hold a few important small things then works well. The alarm is pretty loud and is a good extra on this. Well made and a handy item to own.
Roomy given the size
If you are going to have a safe then you want something that makes you feel secure and Yale is a brand synonymous with security. This is a laptop sized safe and is surprisingly roomy inside — it will fit an average sized laptop but also is a decent size for papers, documents and small valuables etc.
The safe is easy to set up and comes with batteries for the alarm, two override keys and security bolts to attach to the wall or floor. The safe itself has a decent weight to it.
When it comes to the actual alarm I must admit I expected it to be more ear-splitting but it is a fair volume and overridden by keycode or override key.
First line security works well
You will need to bolt this save to either a wall or a floor to get even a modest amount of security or conceal it in some way, in concealed cavities or under floors or back of bookcases. It is reasonably roomy, and thus will serve us better than the book safes and other stuff we have to give some defense against the casual burglar. Bolts are supplied with this and two holes are drilled in the floor and two in the back of the safe for easy attachement. Its an eight figure code to enter which gives it pretty well fullproof defence against the casual tamperer. Instructions are only by diagram, easily followed, quite intuitive, although I did have trouble with the anti tamper alarm. Its easy once you realise that all you have to do to set is open the door, then hold down key symbol and the enter pad together (together is the important bit) you get four bleeps and its set. Any physical disturbance of the safe will set the quite effective alarm off- its not deafening, but if you were a couple of rooms away you would hear it. you get two master keys, to use should you not be able to get in via the keypad. A useful aid for the householder or small business attempting to increase their security to some extent. Bear in mind that if this can be prised of a wall or floor it is easily carried away though with the anti-tamper alarm beeping! it is going to be noticed. Useful item.

Feels sturdy enough, without being stupidly heavy. You will need to bolt it down with the supplied fixings. it was easy to setup, with batteries supplied, along with 2 keys to open the safe regardless of battery state.

The instructions weren’t that good, indicating the Yale disk needed rotating to access the keyhole, when it’s actually a pull-out stopper, and the handle feels a bit plasticity, whilst not affecting the security of the safe, does make it feel rather naff. The inner shelf was rattling around in the safe when mine arrived, so they need to work on transportation ties.

Safe and secure after an alarming sta
Yale are the master locksmiths. However, the instructions for this safe are in infographic format for audiences of many different nationalities. They are far from clear and I had a couple of alarming situations. Fortunately, the keys seem to fit, so the door could be opened manually, and the batteries removed. It took me about 20 minutes to figure it all out. It would be good if Yale could provide a video online for reference. It’s difficult to see the reset button in the battery rack – from the diagram it looks big, but it’s so small you could miss it. Yale would do well by having a magnifying glass on the infographic to depict that this button is almost invisible.
Now it’s done and I have a strong safe, securely coded – although I’ll need to hide the keys and remember where I’ve put them. Inside, it has flexible storage with a removable shelf. It’s supplied with bolts for secure floor or wall fixing. The alarm will go off after three failed attempts or if the safe is attacked/bumped.
Now, I’m really pleased with it.
Significat Sized Safe
A review for Yale YEC/390/DB1 – Large Alarmed Value Safe – 130db built-in Alarm.
This is a 40 litre capacity medium security safe weighing around 15 kg so weight wise not insignificant, light enough perhaps for persistent thief to steal if not secured down. The safe if of the standard similar to those found in hotel rooms. The safe has an electronic keypad allowing combination of between 3-8 digits long allowing 100,000+ possible combinations. A manual key override (2 keys supplied) allows opening if the keypad fails, one mechanical key I was damaged during delivery so was unusable. The electronic keypad is operated by by 4 x AA batteries (included) and powers the built in 130 dB which is triggered by 3 incorrect code attempts or tampered with. Supplied with 4 fixing bolts which can be used to secure either to a floor or wall using the pre drilled holes. Very poor user manual with pictograms makes understanding how to use this for the first time more difficult than it ned be. Good value home / office safe big enough to accommodate all manner of contents including things as bulky as A4 box files.
Similar to a hotel safe, but make sure you secure it firmly to something
This unit is very similar to a hotel safe. The security of it totally comes down to how you mount it. Basically, you need to make sure that, despite the securing bolts, if you can get your hands around it, you can probably dislodge it and a thief could just as easily steal the whole unit. The metal box is OK, but I found it easy to drill through to put in some extra mounting bolts.
Coming back to the supplied bolts… Once these were installed in a wall, I found it reasonably easy to pull them out. I have now mounted within a cupboard, with bolts into the wall behind, and extra fixings into the sides; this should be pretty secure as there is no access to get your hands around it without demolishing the whole cupboard and, even then, it will still be pretty securely fixed to the wall.
So, yes this is fine for normal household use, but do consider how you are going to physically secure it in place.
Well sized electronic safe
This safe is a good size for those invaluable pieces of jewellery or documents that you don’t want anyone to take away. The keys supplied open the door anyway and are necessary the first time so you can put batteries in the safe and programme the keypad memory. The most important point is that you should bolt this into the floor using the bolts provided because otherwise anyone can just walk out with the safe under their arm. Once attached to the floor you have a really useful deterrent for the casual burglar.
Programme with up to 8 numbers and save the code with the enter key and you are ready to go.
The alarm if activated is loud enough to definitely attract attention (i don’t want to hear it again in a hurry!)
The Yale legend on the front panel says something to the caual eye that suggest a good locking mechanism and to be fair, I do think you would need a pick-axe to make any dent in it.
This is an affordable security step for the average house or ideal for the small office too!
It amazes me that you can buy something as good as this for the relative cost. An excellent choice that will last years and years and years……

We needed a new safe, so this is absolutely perfect for what we use it for – keeping it safe! It’s a small, metal box with a keypad on the front, along with a hidden secret lock. Inside the safe (after unlocking it with the provided key) are the instructions and brackets to attach it to the wall or on the floor. It’s really easy to set up, and alarm, and add a code to it – the instructions are really handy. I do love the secret key, I’m not saying where it is but it’s very clever! It’s a great size, ideal for storing important documents of about A5 size, so there’s no excuse not to have one in the house really. It’s fantastic quality and I’m really pleased with it.
Great for kids at Uni
We got this for our daughter who is away at college and soon to be starting university. The safe comes every well packaged, however it does say exactly what it is on the packaging (not something you may want to share with your postie/neighbours).
The safe is reasonably light and conveniently comes with anchor bolts to fit it to a wall. It will hold an iPad (which most hotel safes won’t) and has lots of space for other stuff too. The keypad is easily set up and the unit locks automatically on closing. Two override keys are provided and the key hole is well hidden.
I’ve not tried breaking into it, however it looks strong and sturdy and when bolted to the wall would put of most opportunists.
A great safe that provides security for ‘stuff’ and piece of mind for my daughter when going out.
OK for domestic use
Comes with bolts to bolt it to the floor or wall but the steel of the body of the safe is quite thin, about like a filing cabinet, and could easily be drilled through. Hence the need for the alarm I suppose. It is the kind of safe you sometimes see in the wardrobe in hotels and apartments abroad. Not big enough for much more than a passport, money and keys. The combination was easy to set and to use.
Excellent safe
I’m never quite sure what value a home safe has, as they are normally not very heavy and so easy targets to be removed in case of someone breaking into one’s home. This Yale one is pretty good though. It’s about a foot long on each side, and is quite sturdy – and quite heavy, so not particularly easy to carry. It’s fairly robust, and has a LCD-keypad locking mechanism powered by the supplied AA batteries.
It’s quite easy to set the entry-code (which can be numerical or alpha); the LCD screen where you enter the code to open the safe is battery-powered, and there are two keys supplied which can be used as an alternative means of entry (e..g if the batteries fail).
Best of all is that the safe is alarmed. The alarm goes off if the incorrect code is entered three times running. We’ve tested this, and it’s really very loud – so much so that our neighbours came round to see if everything was okay. This means it works, which is a good thing.
The safe also comes supplied with bolts in order to fix it to a wall or floor. We haven’t done this yet, but it looks straightforward. We’ll fix it once we’ve decided where it should go permanently.
We’re really pleased with this; we have had a safe previously, but that was flimsy and was a waste of space. This one is sturdy, can be bolted down, and the alarm means it has an extra very useful layer of protection. Four stars.
Well designed and constructed
This laptop safe is just what I was looking for. Needed a safe for three laptops at a community centre.
The safe arrived well packed and not as heavy as I had expected. Included were good simple but really well written instructions, the alarm safe, batteries, keys and bolts to fix the safe secure.
Safe was fixed to a ( extensive) wooden shelf. Batteries added and alarm code chosen. All done within 30 minutes. Most impressed. The safe comfortably holds three laptops, cables and more.
The safe is robust and very secure.

This is a heavy and very robust safe. The lock is easy to set following the instructions, just put in your chosen code and its ready to use. It does come with keys which are supposed to be just during set up but if you cannot remember codes the keys lock the safe easily you just have to remember where you keep them. The safe holds all my A4 sized household files and my laptop just about fits in. The safe comes with wall fittings to. I will feel much happier when we go away knowing that all my valuables are kept safe. If anyone does try to get in to the safe it has a loud bleeping alarm which can be heard all around the house.
Secure and easy to use safe for your personal belongings
This is a perfectly sized, well made and robust safe for use at home or office. Access is by selecting and entering a personal code which is easy to do, and it’d be perfect for storing personal possessions.
My only concern is the relative lightweight of the safe. It’s lighter than I thought which makes it easier to transport but also easier to steal should the worst happen. You can bolt it to tire ground but that’s not an option for everyone. The locking mechanism is easy to use and secure. Overall I would recommend this safe – it ticks all the boxes you need
Very loud alarm, very easy to set up, clear instructions, sturdy and not too big.
This is a very useful safe as it’s big enough for passports and similar documents, my iPad, and personal papers that I want to keep private. It is really easy to set up, just put the batteries in, choose your numbers and input them and it’s all ready. A sheet of A4 needs to be folded to fit in, but for our needs – normal household security – it is plenty large enough.
The bolts supplied seem quite strong but I have not tried to detach it from its fixing s so I suppose that is the only way to test that.
Be warned – the alarm is very loud. We are in a detached property and our neighbour cane round to see if all was well when we tested it, which was reassuring!
Excellent quality, great security
I have a caravan on a static site, and when we go away during the year, I am always worried about leaving valuables as the door and windows are not terribly secure. I ordered this safe so that it could bolted to the floor of the caravan, inside one of the storage cupboards.
A good fixing kit is included, containing everything you need to anchor the safe very securely. The safe is quite heavy duty, and comes with 2 keys to open the safe in the event of battery failure, a touchpad to input your combination (up to 8 numbers), and features a really piercing 130 Decibel alarm that activates if it sense tampering, or after 3 incorrect code input attempts. Believe me, it is loud enough to deter any would be sneak thief. I daresay a determined thief would be able to unbolt the safe from the floor and break it open, but lets face it most of them are opportunists, and would be put off by the noise that would create.
Although I intend to use mine in a caravan, this is equally well suited to home use. The safe features two LED lights, a green light to indicate safe is open, and a red LED to indicate input error or low battery (it takes 4 AA’s which are included in the box).
I found my safe very easy to fit, and large enough to take a couple of laptops, phones, tablets, camera, car keys, wallets etc. Speaking of car keys, the safe also seems to shield the signal for keyless entry cars very effectively, so your vehicle is secure as well!!
Pricewise this safe is excellent value, and coming from Yale you know that it is going to be good quality, and as secure as possible. I am really pleased with it, and can highly recommend

Safe and Sound
We wanted this safe for storing items whilst we are away. It was easy to fit and came with fixings. The lock was set (up to 8 digits) once we had placed the batteries in there and following the instructions. I was impressed with what we could store inside it. My OH tested the alarm, when I took the dogs out, and our neighbour came round to make sure everything was okay, it was that loud. Very pleased with this. We wouldn’t think it would easily be accessed, unless someone was very determined and armed with the right tools

A useful deterre
If you’re after something to deter the average thief who wants to be in and out of your property as quickly as possible, then I reckon this should help.
So, looking much like your average hotel room safe only slightly larger, this unit weighs in at a little over 10Kg which with the added weight of a couple of laptops would make it around 12-13Kg in total. It’s finished in a sort of Hammerite black finish that looks reasonably robust (not that a scratch or two would interfere with how it functions) and hidden in the back of a cupboard behind some odds and ends, it shouldn’t stick out. Construction seems decent there is the handle to the left of the door, a Yale badge concealing the override keyhole next to it, then the electronic keypad with keys 0-9 plus an Enter and Lock key. Also included is a one page set of instructions, four AA batteries, two override keys, four security bolts and a felt base to line the bottom of the safe compartment to avoid scratching your valuables.
Setup is as simple as unlocking the safe with the supplied override key, inserting the batteries into the holder in the back of the door, pressing a red button which gives two beeps, then pressing your chosen eight digit password and finally pressing the Enter key. This is also the same sequence for resetting the combination in the future should you wish to do so. You’re all set now and can place items in the safe and then lock it with the handle. Opening the safe is then just a case of re-entering your 8 digit code after which you’re rewarded with some beeps and the door unlocks. When locked there’s a fair bit of play in the handle but twisting it quite firmly didn’t result in the door opening. Both the back and base of the safe have pre-drilled holes so that you can fix it to a wall or floor to further frustrate a casual thief.
Locked and secured to the floor in the back of a cupboard, this would probably do a good job of keeping your laptops and/or other valuables safe from a casual thief who doesn’t want to spend too much time in your home. I was able to fit tow 13″ MacBook Pros plus various documents into the safe with ease, and doing so would give me a degree of comfort while away from the house. Even without securing it to the floor the weight of the thing would deter some thieves from carrying it very far. The safe does feature an audible alarm, but it doesn’t say anywhere in the instructions how this is triggered.
Now it’s important to realise that this unit would probably not deter a determined thief who wants to see what’s inside it and to be fair that’s reflected in the price. The metal chassis looks like it’ll resist hammers and sharp objects, but an angle grinder would be a different story. Also whilst the door is quite a good fit with the hinge fitted internally to prevent the hinge spindle being hammered out, there is still enough of a gap to get a crowbar tip into. Also, I have seen videos of lock pickers defeating the barrel/radial lock in Yale safes in around 10-15 seconds, but hopefully you won’t encounter these sorts of people.
So, not the ultimate in valuables security but a useful deterrent nonetheless.
A big step up from typical hotel safes
This easily beats the ubiquitous hotel safe. For a start, there’s an alarm that sounds if the code is entered incorrectly three times or the safe is tampered with. It’s loud! And your code can be up to eight digits instead of four. The description says the code can be alphanumeric, but the rudimentary instructions don’t explain how to enter letters. I’m guessing you have to multi-press a number to get a letter that’s on the number key, but haven’t tried it. A couple of physical keys are supplied but they’re only for initial setup and battery change.
The safe weighs 6-7 kgs but most of that is in the lock mechanism. It’s secured to a solid wall or floor with the two supplied expansion bolts. If you have hollow walls or wooden floors, you’ll have to provide your own fixings. The description says “fixing pack and instructions included” but the two bolts are all you get and the “instructions” just show a picture of tools and an indication of where the holes in the safe are.
The safe has a thin felt pad for the floor and is easily capacious enough for things like jewellery, cash and passports. Well, it is for ours anyway! Four AA batteries are required and supplied. LEDs and tones warn you if the batteries need replacing.
As for security, I feel pretty confident that a casual thief would be defeated by the safe, although no doubt it could be broken into by a determined burglar who came prepared and didn’t mind how much noise they made with an angle grinder, stick of dynamite or whatever.
I feel this safe could be very useful for any household, as long as there is somewhere suitable to secure it in place.
A perfect sized family safe for your most precious objects
A perfect sized family safe for your most precious objects. It was very easy to program the number, I use the same PIN number as my credit card. I would have been nervous about the batteries failing and locking me out but the 2 backup keys provided prevent that happening. It was very easy to bolt this to the floor in my study, in a dark corner under the desk.
A good choice
I have the medium-sized safe and can say that in terms of size it is similar to those that I have encountered in hotels. It is easily big enough for a camera or two and some equipment, plus tablets and phones. However, it won’t fit a full-size laptop inside. The safe itself is strong, heavy and easier to set up and use than I had expected. It is simple to change the entry code, and you can use a number of up to 8 digits so it is pretty secure. If you do happen to forget the combination then it can be over-ridden by using one of the two keys supplied; they fit in the slot hidden underneath the ‘Yale’ badge. You’ve just got to remember not to keep the keys inside the locked safe, but to put them secure and away from the device itself.
It comes complete with four mounting bolts designed for solid walls or floors. There are correctly-sized holes in both the back and bottom of the safe where the bolts can fit, but no blanks for the other holes. It’s worth noting that this model is not rated for fire so offers only rudimentary protection from flames. Security seems pretty good and is certainly as good as I’d expect a domestic model to be. I won’t be keeping much of value inside mine other than passports and other sensitive documents, plus a little cash etc so there isn’t much at stake. A determined thief would likely be able to break their way inside, but if it is bolted down then they would make a fair bit of noise in doing so, especially with the electronic alarm sounding if you’ve chosen to set it for disturbance. I like that this safe comes complete with batteries and everything that is needed other than the tools to install it. For a simple good-value safe I think that this is a good choice.
A safe with an impressively loud alarm, and very well made
First impression are of a quality made safe, its build is excellent, very sturdy.
Its not that heavy, its only just over 10kgs, if you want to make it really secure you’ll need to bolt in down, screws for this are provided.
Its an Electronic Lock, you can have a 3 to 8 digit code. the codes can be numbers or letters, bit like the password on the PC.
If you forget the code, all is not lost, there is an over ride key.
It has an alarm, a VERY loud alarm, this goes off if you enter the code wrong 3 times, or if the safe is tampered with and its VERY loud.
We run an events business, and receive a lot of cash on the day, its not always possible to bank straight away, and do have a proper safe in the house, that took 5 of us to lift in to the house, this is a little light for keeping the cash in, but I am thinking of fitting it in to my van just for keeping small floats in and also laptops etc.

A perfect sized family safe for your most precious objects. It was very easy to program the number, I use the same PIN number as my credit card. I would have been nervous about the batteries failing and locking me out but the 2 backup keys provided prevent that happening. It was very easy to bolt this to the floor in my study, in a dark corner under the desk.
Small alarmed document safe
This small safe from Yale is actually quite a good size, long enough, but not wide enough for A4 sheets, but good for A5, Passports, and other important documents … with space left over for small valuables.
It can be fitted to a wall or the floor, and at 8.6L capacity, it is small enough to be hidden away.
2 x fixing bolts are supplied, as are the 4 x AA batteries needed to power the keypad and alarm … which is very Very LOUD.
You get a couple of over-ride keys, and the combination can be set to between 3 and 8 characters.
You can also get a non alarmed version for 40 on Amazon, but I think the alarm is worth the premium, but I do think a big shouty sticker on the safe might have been a good idea as a deterrent.

This is an excellent little safe for the money. It’s heavier than I had expected, too. The right number combination was easy to set up, even for me, I’m not the most technical of people. The alarm is good as well. All that’s needed now is for hubby to bolt it to the floor or wall. I don’t have a lot of previous things, this was more for important papers than for jewels and so on, but I’m glad I have it. I’m now questioning why I didn’t get a safe before.
This is a perfectly good little home safe, which is supposed to be fixed either to the floor or the wall with the provided heavy duty screws or bolts.

The digital lock is reasonably easy to set up once you have installed the batteries and have chosen a combination number (You can have up to eight numbers!)
Although the safe is pretty heavy at 10.2 Kg most of the weight is in the locking system and though the safe construction is pretty sturdy I suspect that a really determined attack with either hammer and cold chisel or power tools would gain entry pretty easily. Of course, this probably would never happen as the noise (Not to mention the alarm) would alert the owners or their neighbours.
However, as a home safe and assuming that you will not be keeping your life savings and the Crown jewels in it, this is an ideal little safe for your house at a price that won’t beat the bank!
Oh and yes both mine and my wifes laptops fit inside it!

Hi I bought this safe , great value , it cost more in local supermarket , it is not a large safe , enough to put money in , etc for safe keeping, the safe comes with two keys , not as heavy as my old safe , but still a great buy , buy today , many thanks .

like the code lock easy to set up. put battery’s in press red button enter any code you want and lock it then unlock using new code its not gonna be fireproof/waterproof it is really jus a small stash i can fit loads in this one with my tech being the main thing it fits my macbook pro, ipad couple tablets old phone important paperwork spare keys for other things. overall quite happy with this safe 🙂
Compact safe good for domestic use.
Nice little safe. Setup is easy using YouTube video. The page of diagrams provided with the safe are very basic and not particularly helpful, hence 4 stars. Having an override key is useful.
Seems decent for the price paid
Seems reasonable quality for the price paid, although not as sturdy as the safe I had previously (a different make). Easy to install and set up, good that it uses AA batteries (included) and locking mechanism seems secure.
Great value for your valuables
Great price for securing your smaller valuables. One little suggestion would be to use better fixings than those that come with the safe especially in a brick/concrete wall, as the head snapped off the ones provided whilst trying to install into brick.

This safe is very heavy, which is a good thing. It comes with screws in case you want to wall mount it. It can be opened with a combination of numbers and with keys. It is quite spacious inside and I think it is a very good product. Please remember to never leave the safe keys inside it as those are useful in case you forget the combination or the batteries run out. I’ve had it for 6 months and so far I’m extremely pleased with it!

Looks great quality, good size. Works good with the key, once I figured out how to find the keyhole. Instructions are rubbish – would love to know how to programme the keypad as apparently the key is for override only. Poor instructions but good solid product at good price.

Very good value hotel safe for the home. The trick to entering the code is to press the reset button in the battery compartment, which will turn on a green light, then enter the code while the light is still on. The Towet of Babel instructions don’t make this clear.
Good safe , but something went wrong in transit.
The parcel ws delivered next door, and the outer box was ripped open. There wasn’t any manual , just a poor instruction paper. No details about how to put a combination in. Apart from that ,the safe seems quite sturdy and locks well enough with the key.

I think the safe is good value for money, I tried the bump method to open the old one and was unsuccessful so I can’t see a problem with this one.

This is a good quality and medium sized safe perfect for home use. My only negative feedback is that the instructions are hopeless! They are pictorial only and I had to search for written instructions on the internet. Once I had these is was very easy to set up and use-Please include written instructions for future!!

This is a great safe! I ordered this product for my parents and they love it.
I have read a few reviews for this safe that state that it can be opened by hitting the top and turning the handle at the same time however I tried this and the safe stayed locked securely. Yale Locks have fixed this issue making the safe very secure.

I like this its very good for what it cost & a good size for smaller items money passports jewlrey plus it has two ways of locking , would not take any notice of the reviews saying if you bash it on top it will open , mine didn’t if there’s did it must have been faulty so get your money back , a very good buy
Great For Camper van.
I used this safe inside my van tucked in underneath the bed/seat. It offers me a good place to store my MacBook pre retina, you could probably fit 5 in stacked on top of one another.

The product is the perfect size for the small family safe. It easily swallows up jewellery and watch boxes and will hold an A4 size envelope without creasing (just). It was very easy to secure to the wall, floor with all instructions and wall bolts supplied and easy to follow. Easy to operate and the backup key operation is smoother and sturdier than my last safe. Very pleased. I must also stress that the company purchased from was excellent and I was kept informed at all stages including an hour window for delivery rather than the usual day long wait. Would highly recommend the product and definitely recommend the seller.

This is one of the best safe I have seen. So simple to set up. Use a key to open the safe. Put in the batteries that came with it. Push a button inside the safe. Set your combination. Close the door. Turn handle, its locked. Enter your combination press the key button on the panel and open it. Just remember, the two over ride keys that comes with it. Keep them safe and not in the safe. So you can open the safe without using the key pad if needed to replace the batteries inside key pad.

Arrived next day. Simple to set lock code. Just insert batteries, press little red button in the battery compartment and then ‘key in’ your code numbers and press Enter and the code is set.To open safe press in your code numbers, press the key icon ,bottom right of the key pad and then pull handle down and the safe will open. To lock safe just shut the door and turn the handle. the instructions that come with the safe are not ‘written’ but are diagrams but I found them easy to understand.

Good Build , It was hard to get the clip off the back of the code door but once off, batteries in and if instructions followed the code took me a while to put in but once that is done , it is done and if you make a mistake don’t worry you have TWO backup keys(so keep them safe) to open the safe and its a secret but the key slot is behind the Yale golden circle :).
But it keeps alot of things in there and i think the small size is good enough for most users that just want a safe to put a few important items in .

I don’t know if its me but I think the instructions are simple. The pictogram instruction is maybe slightly ambiguous in part but it clearly points to the button on battery box to press prior to code setting. Screws and rawplug provided are fine for certain installs. I purchased specific masonry fixings separately for my more robust fixing to a brick wall in one of my walk in cupboards. Good quality, low value item for average security application. Pay more money if you want a more robust safe.

Reassuringly safe as houses.
After reading a number of reviews this safe had more pluses than any other taking into account the price. Easily installed though I did use larger, more substantial bolts than provided. The supplied fixing bits had been cannibalised so it was down to improvising, no problem, in fact an improvement. The instructions suffer the ‘chocolate tea pot syndrome’. Have a glance and then work it out for yourself, it’s less stressful.
The size is just about right for our needs, it’s robust, well finished and has the advantage of key back up. Setting your personal number couldn’t be easier.
Overall, a very good purchase though I hope it never gets challenged by undesirables.

Good inexpensive safe
Bought this as a Medisafe to store medicine for my elderly mother who has carers calling night & morning to prompt her to take her pills. It is a fine size for the daily blister packs of pills & easy to set & use. Also relatively neat & unobtrusive. My only complaint is that it is quite light so when you punch in the numbers it tends to slide backwards – even in a silicon mat ( which I thought might have given it a bit of purchase). That aside it is ideal for the purpose.
