Very easy to install but no instructions how to open the key area but you just try few things then it works, (you have to flick the button thing off)

Great Safe it’s not going to keep someone out for long so wouldn’t really recommend for very high value items or cash. It suits me as it’s mainly for Passports and the like and other low value items. Very easy to program and the alarm on repeated wrong entries of the code is grea

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersError in instructions.
We bought this safe for storing important paperwork. It arrived in good order with instructions and keys in a bag taped to the outside of the safe inside the box. I fitted the batteries and tried to set the code following the supplied instructions, I made several attempts all ending in the alarm activating and having to use the keys to access the reset button to reset the the code. I then tried re-entering our chosen code but instead of pushing the “ENTER” key as per the instructions I opted to press the “KEY SYMBOL” button which worked and stored my code as it should. I shut the door, locked it with the locking lever. To unlock and open the safe I re-entered my code and the pressed the “ENTER” button instead of the “KEY SYMBOL” button and turned the door lever and “Hey Presto” the door opened as it should without the alarm sounding or using the keys.

I like everything about this safe…the size, the ease in mounting, and the sturdiness are exactly what I needed. The only thing that is a little less than perfect is the locking handle, it feels a little loose and not very sturdy. However, I’ve had no issues with it other than how it feels. Everything works as it should.

    Good safe, terrible instructions!
Robustly made and supplied with batteries and all the fixings you need to attach to a wall, this safe is easy to use once you get past the incredibly frustrating instructions to set it up. I spent about 15 minutes setting and resetting the code because the instructions made it appear that it required a 3 digit code, but in fact, it requires (at least?) a 4 digit code. So I kept constantly setting the alarm off, which by the way the neighbours took no notice of!! To be frank, the alarm would only really be of use if it was triggered whilst other people were in the house and you can disable it if you want… but I haven’t summoned up the energy to tackle that set of instructions yet.

Useful to keep your valuables safe from fire, flood, children and other disasters
I think of this as a secure place to keep passports, etc which means that I know where they are and that they are protected from fire, grandchildren, and other natural disasters. I have few illusions that it is totally impregnable.

It is small but will store quite a few things and it is reasonably heavy and robust – but you can get into anything given time. You are going to need to use the heavy duty screws to secure this to the floor as otherwise it is way too portable and being taken off the premises then anyone will have time enough to force their way in – the first thing they will probably do is to remove the lock mechanism with the alarm (the alarm will not really scare anyone off if they come with evil intent and no one is around but it will frighten the life out of young children who fiddle).

I am glad to have it though.

Equivalent to a hotel safe but with an alarm
This is a great little safe from Yale that is identical in security to the sort of safe you would get in most hotel rooms. It is sturdy but by no means impenetrable – a burglar with power tools would make short work of it. That said for what it is, it is pretty good. It has an all metal body and a keypad operated lock. You get two over-ride keys to open it for setting it up and if the batteries run flat (be sure not to store these in the safe or anywhere too obvious!). Set up is easy – decide where to install it – preferrably somewhere where it can be bolted to a brick wall or concrete floor. Open the door using the over-ride key and install the batteries. Press the small button inside the door, select your code and press enter. Close the safe and turn the handle. You can then activate the optional alarm function which will go off if someone enters the incorrect code three times or if the safe is tampered with.

The safe has 4 holes in the base and 4 in the back wall so you can attach to the floor and wall. Positioning it in a place which is akward to reach with power tools and where it can be fixed to an exterior wall is ideal. A determined burglar will still be able to break in but a snatch and grab opportunist will probably be put off and move on to something easier.

It would have been nice if it included a shelf as this is the kind of safe I would use for passports, wallets and small items of jewellery. It is too small for a laptop but a tablet or iPad would fit. Also useful for your guest bedroom especially if you have family or friends from overseas staying over as it’s a nice to have somewhere to lock up passport and foreign currency etc when travelling.
All in all it’s a great little safe as long as you understand it’s vulnerabilities.

Great little buy. Got the small version but have to say it’s perfect for storing cash and any personal documents etc plenty of space.
Will admit the setting up procedure for the “tamper alarm” took a few attempts to get it to work. You get two bolts which are half decent I guess. As long as it’s bolted down or screwed in to something it’s all good. Played around with the alarm to see what could set it off, definitely worth the extra 20 when comparing with the non alarmed version!

Decent enough safe but light enough to be stolen itself
This is a decent home safe for things you want to keep secured away from prying eyes however its main drawback is that it is itself a tempting thing to steal.

The presence of a safe implies that the contents are worth taking for a thief and this safe is portable enough that it could be stolen itself to be opened later (grinding through the sides perhaps as they dont seem to be super heavy duty).

This can be mitigated somewhat by affixing it to a wall or such and there are parts provided to do this though if your walls are plasterboard that wont stop a determined thief while you are out.

Other than its portability this is a decent cash box/laptop safe or a place to keep things that you dont want your kids getting hold of and messing with (important documents perhaps like birth certificates and such)

    Good safe for homes
This Yale safe is constructed to a high standard, made form metal. Heavy, but can be lift. Bolting instructions and accessories are included. Was easy to set-up. Once bolted to the concrete floor somwhere in our house(!) it feels very solid and secure. We tested the alarm and it is fairly loud, although not ear piercing. Will distract or hold-up a burglar for sure. Medium sized safe is good for passports, cash, documents and other small valuables.

Unless you have a professionally installed safe behind a picture somewhere, as far as commercially available safes go, this may be as good as they come. My first and only safe, but I wouldn’t trust it with anything too valuable personally.

    Super Secure Safe
I’m very impressed by this Yale Safe. The first thing to say is the product is large so make sure you check the dimensions before purchasing. It has been designed specifically for the purpose of storing a laptop although of course can be used for whatever you desire.

The safe includes four screws and these can be installed at the back or bottom of the product (or as I have done a combination of both). Once screwed in this safe is going nowhere without a hell of a lot of effort.

You can input a code of up to 8 digits. Helpfully letters are included on the number combo so if you’d prefer to use a word to aid memory that’s possible. The visual instructions for setting the code aren’t the clearest but I worked it out after 10 mins.

The product requires batteries to operate (included). There are two override keys so ensure these are well hidden or stored in another property so as not to negate the purpose of the safe.

The safe is fitted with a 130db alarm – this will be triggered if an incorrect code is entered three times or if the safe is tampered with. To put the volume into context, an airplane taking off is 140db so this is a real deterrent for anybody who wants to access the safe who shouldn’t be.

Overall I’m impressed by this safe and feel that my goods stored inside are very secure.

Solid sturdy with a key backup just what i needed
This safe is large enough to store A4 documents in folders and is now being used for things like car/house doumentation to keep them safe.

This comes with a mounting kit but i havent used that but it appears to be simple enough to set up this way.

The safe is alarmed as well so you will be aware as will your neighbours if someone is tampering with the safe (i live in a terraced house and both neighbours heard it clearly)

Setting the code to open was easy and the whole safe is a great product highly recommended.

This is an excellent home safe. It’s not a safe you’d find at Fort Knox, nor would you expect it to be! But it’s serviceable as a safe for the home that has good security features, a good lock and a loud tamper alarm that WORKS!

A secure home safe from a recognised brand
Built by Yale, this is evidently a quality and – most importantly – guaranteed secure product that you can trust (the brand name relies on it!). That much is obvious from the build and weight of the safe. On its own however, the safe only offers so much protection, but with a few extra steps to bolt it down somewhere safe, it’s definitely a good security measure that will give extra security and peace of mind if you have any valuables you can’t afford to lose to an opportunist thief.

Unless you bolt this to a wall or a floor however, all you’re doing is telling any potential thieves that there are things here that are worth carrying off. It’s heavy but it’s not that heavy. The model is a decent size, as most valuable tend to be small, but if you have some larger documents or even a small laptop, they should fit in here with no difficulty.

It has an alarm fitted and there are instructions on how to set the digital code. You’ve probably seen similar devices fitted into hotel wardrobes and know how to work that, and this safe feels rather more solid than those. The password key is easy to set up as long as you are careful. Three mistakes and you’ll set off an alarm, which is a good deterrent for anyone tempted to try easy password key combinations. You also have backup keys that you can keep off-site, just in case something fails.

It’s obviously not totally secure, and an experience thief would have little problem breaking into one of these home safes, but securely fitted, it will definitely deter a casual opportuist thief, who isn’t going to waste time trying to break into this or risk setting off an alarm. Worth it for that much extra security over the loss of small irreplaceable valuables

    Very Good
We need to get something straight, my brother in law who works for the police has a saying, “All you can do is deter a thief long enough for us to appear”. For me, this is what this safe is all about. I notice others rating this product at 3 stars as they don’t consider it to be strong enough. I am happy to agree that this box will act more as a deterrent and less of a strong room type of safe. It is well made, strong and the locking mechanism is great. We had an accident with it whilst installing it. I picked up the box and the safe fell through the box onto the concrete. The concrete came off worse than this safe, which was not even dinted. We followed the instructions and secured it in the way the manufacturer suggested. We put our important papers in the box, as our valuables are elsewhere and not in the house. I am happy that it will withstand a crowbar. If you do open it, without disabling the alarm system, it gives off a very loud alarm.

Nothing is going to withstand a very determined thief. The best you can do is to slow them down and hopefully, the house alarm or the safe alarm will deter them. This safe is very strong and if secured properly, will protect your valuables as much as any home safe can. The keypad can be overridden by a key and I would suggest you hide the key in a very secure place.

Whilst this is not up to commercial standards, it is still very good and strong. As such I am happy to recommend it.

    Good as a deterre
This is a nicely designed and functional safe, with wall-mount adapters to fasten it to a wall, a relatively loud tamper alarm (not as loud as I would have expected though), and unlock codes and over-ride keys. It’s fairly small, so will fit most places you’d likely want to put it.

Having said that, the sides are made of relatively thin material, so I wouldn’t expect it to keep out a well equipped burglar too much. It would certainly keep an unequipped opportunist out though, so for basic home use I think it’s perfectly adequate, especially for this price point. I think it would just need thinking about where to secure it to properly, and setting a decent secure code, and hiding the override keys somewhere where they’re not going to get found (obviously NOT inside the safe).

    Ideal Domestic Safe
This isn’t the biggest or heaviest safe you will ever find but it is ideal for domestic use. The safe weights around 10kg so the weight isn’t a deterent for thieves, however, fittings are supplied and I have bolted the safe to a large storage shelf in my spare room.
The locking mechanism seems to be very sturdy and I feel most of the weight is in the lock that has 2 large locking pins. The locking mechanism is easy to setup and is powered using batteries.
I doubt I would ever store large amounts of cash in this safe for long periods of time, but the size of the safe makes it ideal for me store documents, passports, watches and the odd bit of jewellery. I recently changed our holiday money into Euroes and stored the money in the safe up until we went on holiday and using the safe did give me an added peace of mind.

    good safe, beware battery cove
he item is fine works well, however the battery cover inside is not strong enough and needs taping in place as when the door is closed the batteries fall out leaving the safe inaccesible

    Safe
Yale safe, very good quality and this is heavy. It came with bolts to secure it into a wall or floor and it holds a reasonable amount. This is easy to set up, the alarm is very loud and piercing and isn’t too sensitive, it also comes with a felt pad for inside the safe. It isn’t the sort of thing burglars would be able to pick up and run with.
I’d say this is great value for money

    Good Safe
This is a pretty good, alarmed safe for the price. My postman did not appreciate bringing it to my house, as it is pretty heavy.

The safe itself can be installed either on the floor or the wall, and comes with the necessary screws for this. It comes with instructions for the lock and I found it pretty easy to set up and get going, and only using it for my home I think it will do the job of keep valuables pretty secure, but I guess it depends who you are keeping them safe from as nothing will be foolproof and they could simply just take the entire safe.

I like it however and will find it pretty useful.

    Safe as houses
With this safe you can lock it with keys and a code.

    Fox those nasty burglars.

The safe itself is large enough to hold cash and other valuables, wills etc.

The safe comes with a spare set on keys, instructions and fixing bolts. Everything you need to keep you safe. Safe! Gettit.

Its very duty steel so installing it might require two arms.

Never keep the spare keys in the safe, seriously.

A lightweight hotel style home safe
Bearing in mind that this is a home safe, and not an industrial style unit, there’s not much to be displeased about here. If you’re expecting the weightiness of a hotel safe then you would be disappointed – this really is pretty light. Personally, I would probably keep ‘fairly’ precious items in here on the basis that someone could pretty easily just remove the safe. It does have two relatively sturdy bolts, but I wouldn’t rely entirely on them.

However .. this is a good home safe! Two keys, for initial setup and emergencies, this is a battery operated alarmed safe that does work in exactly the same way as a hotel one. Anyone not really determined to get into this wouldn’t bother, I don’t think, if it was riveted to a wall.

It would certainly work for keeping things private from family members – or even your favourite chocolate!

    Excelle
Fantastic safe, we tested the medium alarmed safe. It’s similar to one you might find in a hotel room. You’ll want to secure it to the floor or a wall to prevent it being stolen easily.

It’s big enough to contain a small amount of valuables, but we recommend checking the product dimensions before purchasing to ensure it’s big enough for your needs.

The instructions are easy to understand and we found it easy to start using the safe.

We’ve not tested the alarm functionality yet. Hopefully we won’t need to!

    Good home safe.
    Great for the price.

Easy to set up, with the option of an 8 digit code. Has two keys incase the batteries die.

Comes with the fittings needed to attach it to the wall or floor. The one complaint is that the door rattles. Not a problem, just annoying.

While not fireproof, it’s ideal for keeping papers secure.

BTW, the alarm is pretty good.

Won't deter a pro but might put off an opportunis
I’ve never owned (or felt inclined to own) a safe before, but this one feels on a par with the kind of thing you might find in a hotel room. It’s fairly sturdy and can be attached to walls/floors, but in most modern houses the wall or floor won’t be substantial enough to offer any real resistance to a determined thief.

The alarm is seriously loud, particularly if you aren’t expecting it, but I’m sure could easily be circumvented by anybody that knows what they’re doing. Which leaves this safe as a deterrent for an opportunist that sees an open door, but if it can be easily delivered by Amazon then it can also easily be carried away by a thief to open at another site. If I wanted to get the most out of this safe I’d install it into a hole carved into a wall, or hide somewhere well out of sight.

This is a review of the “small alarmed value safe”.

Aside from the size you’d be hard-pressed to know this was a “value” item. The only major downside would be that it isn’t fireproof, though that would increase the size and cost considerably.

You’re going to want to take advantage of the bolts, and lock it down, although the alarm will go off if anyone decides to up and lift it.

The instructions detailing how to set the PIN are pretty good and easy enough to follow. If you DO forget the number you set, there’s an override key you can use, just be sure to hide it somewhere away from the safe. Oh, and don’t then forget where you put it.

As with most storage options you’ll soon fill it, so think carefully just how much volume of items and documents you’re really going to be wanting to secure!

    Great small home safe
This product is good for those considering a home safe. Its powered by batteries and is easy to set up and very loud if the alarm goes off!

The instructions are spare, but you choose a 3-8 digit code to set the safe and use this to unlock the door. Two keys are provided which can be used to over ride the code if you forget it. Don’t know if these keys are device specific though so, it might be easier for some to break in with an identical key.

The safe is quite spacious so you can store important documents and some valuable items such as jewellery and cameras.

The major disadvantage is that the safe is only 10kg empty, so if you’re broken into it would be easy to remove the device. Ideally hide it well or fix it to a solid wall. Its also not advertised as a fire safe.

A very reliable and quality feeling safe. We have secured this down in an out of sight location which was easy to do. The locking mechanism is great, very reliable and feels nice and solid. Great for keeping our valuables and important documents.

Great safe but not 5 stars
I always start at 5 stars and then knock half or one if there is something not quite right.
Very sturdy but not the sturdiness safe I have had.
You can bolt it to the floor or wall but a determined thief would remove with a crowbar.
Impressive digital lock but nothing to get too excited about. It is larger than my previous safe really handy for laptops, iPads, valuables but the main point is securing the safe.
Anyone can pick up a safe and open it later…so it is more important that there’s immovable rather than sturdy.
It is okay and useful so I would recommend despite only giving 4 stars

A valid and robust way to lock down your valuables
I have long thought about the stuff we leave behind when going on holiday and have found myself hiding watches etc just in case.
If anyone broke in, my guess is they would have a fighting chance of knowing where to look and would get away with a few bits of sentimental stuff that would be difficult to replace but not forget. This safe is an answer. OK so it is not impenetrable. If someone had an axe or a sledgehammer it would be toast in three hits, but in the event that someone was not carrying a building site with them, and that you hid this reasonably well, it would present a challenge IMO. First, it has a code on it, this will be a real time waster for any thief, and time is of the essence in most burglary’s. Second you can screw this into place from the inside down so it is harder to remove – I like this feature. In the event that your batteries run dry (electronic code device) or you forget yo ur code altogether, you get a couple of keys to unlock. Obviously hiding these near the safe not a good shout. I would pay 100 quid for it. It is Yale and demonstrably so – a good quality robust time killer for any would be burglar that may get them caught or even protect your valuables to an opportunist non professional. The alarm could be louder but may that is just me..

Reasonable safe for safe storage of household valuables and documents.
If you’ve seen a hotel safe, this is like one of them. That’s really it… it’s large enough, but I would have preferred in a safe of this size, for it to have had a small shelf inside. Security wise, you have an override emergency key, so you can still access the safe if you forget the code. You are reminded not to put this inside the safe. Setting up the safe is easy and batteries are supplied. Simply install the batteries, press the red button, press the key on the number pad and enter the code you want to use and press the enter key. It’s done… that easy to do. The metal on this safe is quite thin and it would not take long with a good angle grinder to rip through it, but it’s adequate enough to provide a little extra home security or safe storage of your documents. There is not much likelihood that thieves would come with an angle grinder anyway either… There is no fire protection in this safe, so if you had a house fire, your valuables could still be damaged. They do supply, as well as the batteries, 4 bolts to secure the safe to a wall or floor. Overall it’s an extra bit of security, but it’s not Fort Knox.

    Small Safe
This is a great little item for basic or home office security. Easily programmable with variable lengths of a custom keycode, the instructions are easy to follow. The safe is sturdy / weighty and can be secured if required. It doesn’t have a lot of room for many valuables but is enough for basic jewellery, documents, etc.

Not suitable for a guest room
I ordered this to put in our guest room so there was a safe place for guests to store valuables. The safe is superficially good for this, with four fixing holes on the base (two at the front and two about a fifth of the way from the back)and two on the back. Yale supply four expanding bolts, clearly assuming it will be installed in a stone floor or wall, but this sort of safe is more likely to be installed in a wardrobe so I think they ought to also supply some wood screws so it’s possible to wall mount and then screw down.

It’s easy enough to operate, but it’s really let down for my intended use by the fact the code-reset button is inside the battery compartment rather than visible as it is in other Yales safes I’ve installed. That means the guest will have trouble finding it to set their own code, and the battery compartment door will risk getting broken (it’s not very sturdy).

If your application does not involve changing the code, you’ll probably find this OK.

    Excellent safe
This is a quality safe, truly excellent.
    I have the Yale YEC/390/DB1 – Large Alarmed Value Safe – 130db built-in Alarm

What I think one uses this for is those precious things that you want to protect. Sure, they may be expensive, but maybe they’re the special things, like family war medals, that you just want to be safe.

This is clearly a well-made safe, Yale being a brand that you can trust.

Once bolted to the floor I think that this is very safe and secure. If you’re used to hotel safes this seems to be much, much more secure and sturdy.

Really sturdy personal safe. Easy to fit and use.
This is a really sturdy small personal safe. It will take a 15inch laptop and other electronics and high cost items that you might wish to store securely.
The safe comes with expanding bolts for fixing and can be fixed through the bottom or the back for floor or wall mounting.
The door is opened either by passcode or key.
    Batteries are supplied as well.
The alarm should you get the code wrong is LOUD.
    All good.
I use it mostly for passports and certificates that would be difficult and expensive to replace.
I also find the key the better option.
