Problem-solve
I was finding my Honda Civic a bit low, and as my arthritis worsened, I was having difficulty getting in and out. This product is excellent, and has solved the problems for me. As I have friends who also have mobility problems, I bought 2, one for each side of my car. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is ideal for my husband to use to get out of the car, rather than pulling on the top of the door, which is not good in the long term for the car hinges. The integral light will only be used if we have dropped anything when it is dark. Our car, like many others, when you open the door the lights come on so you can see where to put the assist handle.

Such a simple idea and so easy to use. Fits well into the door lock loop and allows considerable downward force to be used when getting in and out of the car. This is such a simple idea and such a great one. Just adds a little bit of security getting in and out of a car which means my Dad can keep a little bit of independence in yet another daily task. I really recommend this. It’s beautifully designed as not only does it do its job perfectly, it’s ergonomic, has a torch (great when you’ve dropped something in the car), a seat belt cutter and a window breaker. You may not need these everyday but they’re there if you do need them or you pass an accident and can then help.

I bought this for my elderly father who was very sceptical about how it would work. He is now a convert! It greatly improves his ability to get out of the car, it is sturdy and strong, giving Dad more confidence in his movements. The safety aspects of the built in torch, hammer and knife make it useful to carry in the car, more of a multipurpose item.

This is a handy gadget to have in case of emergencies. It is a glass hammer, seat belt cutter, a tiny led two spot torch and a grab aid for the less able who find it difficult to enter and alight a car without some sort of support. The Drake off road is a clever idea that when put into action, acts as a hand rail when attached to the door anchor when the door is opened. It looks sturdy enough but I haven’t had to use it yet, and I hope the time never comes, but it is in the glove box and offers me peace of mind. Would recommend on the safety aspects alone.

Perfect for my needs, having mobility problems, i find it hard manovering in + out of car. Having a new car, it did not have a Grab Handle fitted – which i would usually use to assist me…Hense this purchasing to compensate the lack of grab handle. It easily fits into the door lock + can take my full weight easily too. I actually found this product a whole lot easier in assisting me into any vehicle – without the help of another person. I got this for my grandmother as she finds it difficult to get herself out of my car. This is a great tool, it’s sturdy, has a seatbelt cutter, a hammer incase you need to smash your window and a light. The only drawback is that the light flickers and isn’t that strong.

This works wonderfully well. A couple of my old mates had difficulty getting in and out of the car. This gave them something to work against to maneuver themselves in and out. A little more self reliance and dignity I feel.

I’m a taxi driver and it’s a god send… Unfortunately had to send this back, doesn’t fit on a citreon berlingo..I thought it looked thinner than the one I own already,.. Such a shame as it really does help.. I used it with skoda and passats.. Waiting on refund..

Bought this for my 83-year-old dad who has recently been finding it hard getting out of cars (especially cars with low seats). This has turned out to be a great tool for helping him out of the car. A GREAT HELP
I bought this to help my sister get out of my car and she finds it very beneficial when using the front passenger seat. I drive a Toyota Aygo and the positioning of the d-ring for use with the back seats is not suitable due to the d-ring on the car being quite high. Obviously this is not the fault of the car cane but it does limit its use. I hope never to need the window breaker or the seat belt cutter but it is reassuring to know they’re there in case of emergency.
I am currently having problems with both knees and have been experiencing difficulties getting out of my car as my driveway is on a slope. This little gadget is magic! It feels very firm and secure when in use and I can get out of the car without hanging on to the door pockets with my left hand and using my right arm/elbow as a brace on the other side. The other features are a bonus. It also matches my red and black car – always a bonus!

Wow.. What a great produc
Wow what an excellent item. My elderly mother always struggles getting in and out of the car so when I saw this on a Facebook ad I checked if Amazon had it in stock which they did so ordered it.
Arrived same day and was put to good use immediately and mum got the hang of using straight away. Helped her in and out of the car, getting out was the biggest win and I no longer have to help her so can be getting her walker out of the boot whilst she gets out of the car.

Getting a pack of two is very useful as both my husband and I sometimes have problems getting out of car on a slope! Friend was struggling to get in and out of the car (passenger) with only his two sticks so let him try this and he loved it. Gave him much more confidence and ditted his car very well . . . so well in fact I haven’t the heart to ask for it back yet!

I bought this for Christmas as I knew my father was going to have a hip operation in the new year. This got delayed a bit hence delay in review. He has found it very helpful for his recovery and has allowed him to go out and about in various cars while he recovers as he can get in and out much more easily. This was wanted for a Dacia Sandero, which was not on the ‘slim list’ but when it came it was too big. High Street TV were a pleasure to deal with and paid the postage for the return and then sent out the slim one as a replacement. I have had to put sticky padded rounds around where it slots onto the car otherwise it would scratch the paintwork as there is some movement still. Bought this for my 81 year old Mum who has arthritis and has a bit of trouble getting out of the car. It fits the lock on my Honda Jazz perfectly without scratching paint and is easy to do. She finds it very helpful to lean on when getting up. I think she was a little sceptical at first but the product has won her round. Very well made and strong. Comfortable in the hand.
I ordered the standard size as it says it will fit most makes of car other than Peugeot & Citroen, however it does not fit my Renault Clio. It was very easy to send back & get a refund, & the slimmer version arrived today. Please make sure you check the size before ordering.

Already have found this useful for my elderly father to transfer from a wheelchair into the passenger front seat. I keep the handle in the door so its handy to grab and fit to the door locking bracket. One drawback is it can only fit in one way (that is toward the front) it would have been useful to be able to put in the bracket at a 90 degree angle to allow another option to reduce the restriction when aiming for the seat. This drawback may only be applicable on certsin vehicles.

This has proved to be useful in helping my 92 year old dad get out of my renault scenic . he doesnt use it to get into the car though . it’s well made and feels strong enough for the job … it also has a seat belt cutter (in case of accident) and also can be used to break glass in an emergency.
I bought this to help my 90-year old mother get in and out of our very low-slung Passat estate. Previously she needed to be pulled up out of the seat, which was a real struggle. This tool makes the task very easy.
But since then, my wife has developed back pain and sciatica, making it hard for her to get in and out of the car. This car cane makes it much easier for her, and is small enough to keep in the door pocket. It has proved so invaluable we now have two in the car – one in the front and one in the back.
It slips into the U-shaped bracket on the car door frame – the same bracket into which the door lock engages when the door is closed. The bracket is very strong and this tool takes advantage of that strength by providing a leverage point with which to hoist yourself up.
It is substantially made, lightweight and comfortable to use. It also includes a blade to cut the seat belt in an emergency. The blade is protected so you can’t touch it. It has another use too. If you are involved in an accident and your car becomes submerged underwater you can use the tool to smash a window. Without it you will probably drown!
It is small enough to store in the glove-box. Highly recommended.

Bought for my Nan who’s been struggling to get in and out of the car. This came quickly and is lightweight and simple to use. She likes the torch feature and thought the seatbelt cutting option was a novel idea although she hopes she’ll never have to use it! It seems to be sturdy and I believe she is getting on with it ok.
I will feel safer when driving knowing that should I have an accident, I can cut my seat-belt or break my car window if necessary – but best of all, it is so much easier now to get out of my driving seat! Very pleased with this purchase. I must also say that the customer service was excellent because the original item supplied was faulty (the seat-belt cutting blade was missing). All I had to do was place a call, take a photo with my phone and email it, and the item was replaced immediately. They were very helpful and pleasant with it.

After watching an advert on television I thought I would give it a try. I have mobility issues and often struggle getting out of a car and my husband gives me a hand. This Car Cane is quite substantial and it serves more than one purpose. It has a very handy torch, a seat belt cutter and in an emergency it can be used to break glass. This device helps me to get out of a car independently which really helps me feel better mentally as it is something I can do myself.

Does an excellent job. Tried out on three older folk of varying abilities and all thought it was a great help. That said, it would have felt a little more secure had the blade been wider to prevent/reduce movement when in use, even though it can’t get out of the door catch bracket on the car. The safety hammer aspect is a good idea but the torch is a bit naff unless you’re in pitch darkness, when it’s better than nothing! If you think you might find one useful, don’t hesitate – it will be!

Bought the car cane to help my folks get in and out of my car. My folks are 91 and 96 both have mobility issues and have to be transferred to the car from a wheelchair. |It does help even though my Dad tries to stick in his bum if I don’t get it out of the way in time!
Very, very useful particularly when parking in the restricted spaces found in many car parks. With care, It enables the car door to be opened to leave or enter the car without collision with the sides of other vehicles and also for help getting in or out in the usual manner. At eighty years old, I find it invaluable.

I just brought two as both my wife and I are disabled and have problems ( and pain ) with getting into our car ie a Astra F model. The car cane is the only gimmick that really works, I keep it in the door compartment so it’s there when I need. If I go out with my son who has got a van I take the car cane with me, the difference in getting in and out of his van is unbelievable, my advice to anyone even if he or she is a passenger buy a car cane you will not regret it.

I am severely disabled, the people shown in the adverts look to myself pretty agile by comparison. Nevertheless the Car Cane has provided me with the type of support for getting in and out of any car that is invaluable. One of my sons has a small car and it has been a struggle (putting it mildly) getting in and out of it, another has a high van that on the rare occasions I have been in it, can’t get in without a lot of help. I couldn’t be without it now. Such a simple thing but totally invaluable. The inventor is worthy of a gold medal. 🙂

I’m sure this is very good – I bought it for my partner who has a bad hip and is also very tall, so struggles to get in and out of conventional cars. However by the time it arrived he had decided to go and buy a SUV which is very easy to get in and out of: only a small difference in price LOL.

I have a couple of elderly relatives that are unsteady on their feet. Saw this advertised on tv and thought it could be of assistance. So instead of purchasing via the tv deal I of course looked on Amazon and there it was, cheaper than advertised and with free P&P.
My car is a Ford Fiesta, theirs is a VW Polo and this fits both. Has been tried out a couple of times and is certainly a handy piece of kit. Allowing just a little bit more independence is important to us all and this allows that. It is well made and light and sturdy and certainly works as advertised.
It also has a torch, with the batteries fitted, a seatbelt cutter and could be used to break glass if need be. Although I never want to test those 2 items, but it’s handy to know they are there.
I would certainly recommend this for those who have elderly relatives, or those who need a little help.

Does exactly what is needed for my elderly passengers, and the torch has already come in useful more than once. Deducted one star because it DOES NOT FIT ALL CARS – especially some French makes. I am not affected but a friend who intended to buy one found it did not fit his Peugeot.

I bought this for my father in law who has really bad knees. He didn’t seem that thrilled when we gave it to him and I think he thought we had wasted our money, we did think he wouldn’t use it from his reaction. i have trouble with my knees and getting out of my car is a bit difficult but with the car cane i find it a lot easier, i normally have to grab the door and pull myself out but if it’s been raining the door can be a bit slippy now with the car cane it’s no problem
I bought this item having seen it advertised on the TV. My wife has trouble getting in and out of the car, but this item has given her a renewed confidence when she uses it. It does exactly what it says just locate the handle into the door frame and you have a solid and secure support to help you in or out of the car it has a led light to help you when dark, and it easily fits into your door pocket for storage so it’s always their when you need it. If you are capable of getting in and out of your car but need a little help then this is for you. Excelle

I bought this for my 84 year old mother who has leg problems.
Happy with the build quality, the fit into my cars lock is a bit loose which does not help with mothers confidence so I will have to make a sleeve or give it a wrap a few turns of Duct tape just to stop any movement.
Perfect Aid for getting out of car.
I have Psoriatic Arthritis and getting out of a car has become difficult. This well made aid has made a real big difference to my life. I use it on a Skoda Yeti and it fits perfect. The aid is easy to fit and gives the perfect handle to help me get out. Before I would struggle and sometimes need help. This aid gives me the independance to open the car door and get out. A superb aid.

These are great little helpers. Both my wife and I suffer from the arthur i tus and other ailments including advancing age. These are sturdy, well made implements that really do help with getting out of the cars. They work especially well for getting out of the x type jag which is quite low. The seatbelt cutter is a nice addition should there ever be an accident and it appears that the pointed end would be strong enough to allow one to break a window, should the need arrise. Overall we are very happy with these gadgets and have recommended them to our friends
Excellent product but a small niggle.
Excellent product, well designed good quality. Small problem to me was that the lock insert was 1mm too big for a Smart car lock catch. Being an engineer, no problem, reduced insert size by 1mm by gently grinding. Works perfectly. Supplier should update instructions accordingly, to highlight Smart car incompatibity.
Sometimes when someone decides to park too close to my car and restricts how wide I can open my door, I find it very difficult to get the grip I need in order to get in the car through a confined space. I am less mobile that I once was and my knees are a particular problem. Since having a Car Cane, it gives me the same sense of security as does my Leki cane, my third leg. It fits perfectly, gives a strong feeling of security and enables me with confidence to squeeze through the restricted space. When the door opens to its full extent, I continue to use the Car Cane because it really does help. Two of my friends were immediately impressed and placed their orders for one; they have enjoyed the same experiences as have I.
I cannot rate this product highly enough. It is very sturdy and robust and of very good design. My wife has some trouble getting in and out of the car but this little tool helps her perfectly. It certainly deserves the 5 stars. It is great value for money.

I ordered it Sunday and it was here Monday which was very quick. My mum tired it out , I have a Fiat 500 which I didn’t think it would work in, anyway it does what it says it’s going to do and now my mum can get in and out of the car with ease

Order this to help someone with osteoporosis to get out a car. Worked a treat so I ordered a second one for my parents. Unfortunately it didn’t fit my car (Peugeot 3008). Only reason not getting 5 stars.
I bought this for a gift for a friend who struggles getting in and out of the car. She is really pleased with the gadget and finds it very helpful. Her car is a Ford Fiesta and it fits well. I tried it on my Volvo but it wouldn’t fit which surprised me. So not an item I could buy for myself. It would be helpful if the dimensions of the bar were included in the information which would make it easier to judge whether it would fit a particular vehicle.
Good strong unit that fits all cars. Just slip the metal rod into either the front passenger or front driver side into the standard fitted metal hoop of all cars. This enables you to have strong support to assist in and out of the car. The unit has to be removed each time as the car door will not shut if this is in place. We just keep ours in the side compartment of the door. The unit is very strong and well made. This also doubles as a window breaker and seat belt cutter for emergencies which is an added bonus, albeit we all hope this is never needed.
a natty little idea
Have not used it yet,I have bought it incase I have to Cary a infirmed person, as I am only 71 . It looks good and well made, the touch is adequate, I think it should do the job
