So easy to manage.
We love these plugs. We use them mainly for various lamps scattered around the house. They can be switched on and off remotely as well as as setting a schedule. We have various hard to reach sockets which had been running on normal electronic timer. These become a bind to reset as the seasons change and at spring/autumn daylight saving changes.
They are a tad expensive I suppose but watch out for deals. No need to pay 39.
They are very easy to integrate if you have an existing Hive system. Plug in, follow instructions on your app, give it a meaningful name, set a schedule, and there it is on your dashboard.

It Just Works
I use this to power the lighting on a wall unit, and it has worked 200% since installation a month or so ago.
The Hive software is good and I have a schedule to turn the lights on at sunset until midnight, and also the ability to control it with Alexa is good.
It#s not cheap, but performs really well. Saving up for some more soon 🙂

Can turn the fan heater on in the living room if it gets to cold and have baby in my arm and can not more. Just use the Hive app and switch on and off. Great little thing will buy more when price comes back down to what I paid before. Make sure your WiFi is good

I’m an existing Hive Thermostat user, so already have the hub, app and account. So adding this smart plug using the Android App was ridiculously easy. Then further customised the schedule using the website on a PC. Have quickly set up two sets of lamps to come on at sunset, and then turn off at fixed times at night – including later times at weekends. Easy.
Will probably buy another in December to control the Christmas tree lights.

Got this in the black Friday sale, easy to set up and works great with the Echo. I use it to switch on a lamp as often need to let my old dog out in the middle of the night. Only gave 4 stars as it’s normally so expensive. I wouldn’t pay nearly 40 for one

Very easy to set up to my existing Hive stuff using the app. Brought to turn Christmas lights on and off either on timer or via Alexa by voice. Named it Christmas and it’s a delight to see children’s faces when you say “Alexa , turn Christmas on” and all the lights turn on as if by magic.

Brilliant inventio
I can be a lazy bugger now and turn on my electric blanket from my phone without having to pop upstairs. The quality of these is excellent plus so simple to set up on the hive app. Takes no time at all. I have 3 and all of them connected with no problems.

I’ve got Hive already so to me, it made sense to go for these plugs. I know you can get the cheaper plugs (Different brands) but they all seemed to have setup issues or reliability problems.
I ordered these in the afternoon and got them the same evening via Prime delivery. Incredible service.
The setup was ridiculously easy.
Just plugged it in, went on the Hive app and added and renamed it.
Then loaded the ‘Hive skill’ in the Alexa app and added them. All working within 5 mins of unboxing.
They are not cheap…but I was happy to pay a premium to have something that just works.
The thought of spending less on cheap alternatives and then wasting my entire evening trying to get them to work just didn’t appeal.
Would definitely buy again if needed.

Bit expensive but works like a treat, simple setup works great with HIVE hub and Alexa as well. Good build quality probably why it’s a bit more expensive than others on the market.
I have bought many of the these plugs after being gifted a Hive hub and some other Hive accessories from my dad. I am now well and truly integrated into the Hive ecosystem, with multiple cameras, bulbs, and plugs setup and used regularly.
These plugs have a nice neutral design to them which means if you have the plug somewhere visible, you don’t need to worry about them being an eyesore. They also offer a manual push button switch in case you want to do things the old fashioned way.
Ultimately though, these plugs come into their element when paired with Alexa, Google Assistant, or the easy-to-use actions you can setup in the Hive app. As an example, when I open the door to the house at night, I have a plug setup to turn on a lamp in the hallway. Likewise in the lounge, I have it setup so once the sun sets, our side lights will turn on automatically. These little bits of easy automation are the main selling point behind investing in these plugs.
As other reviewers have noted however, these plugs do come at a premium, and there are many other lower priced options available which do the same thing, albeit from smaller name manufacturers. Whilst you lose some of the ease and function of the Hive app, functions like Alexa routines do allow you to do similar things if you’re a little bit more savvy.
I have made a policy of only ever buying these when they come on sale, where you can get them for closer to 20 instead of the 30+ normal asking price – this certainly reduces the sting as I gradually setup the whole house with them. This is the main reason I can’t in good faith give these plugs a 5 star rating.
Price aside, I can easily recommend these if you’re looking to smarten up your home, especially if you already have Hive setup. They’re one of the more user friendly options, and their smart look and good build quality do give them a slight edge over some of the cheaper alternatives.
Works a trea
Easy to set up. I have the hive heating. Bought as I have two electric heaters in my two coldest rooms. Use these to turn them on before I go in the rooms to take the nip out. Great! No bright lights or connection issues.
I’m sure if you are reading this that you have a Hive and that you are already remotely adjusting your house heating and hot water… well the Active smart plug is an excellent addition to make, in fact I have two of these. One is currently set up with a lamp and the second is currently controlling our outside Christmas Lights.
They are easy to set up and programme using the Hive app. You can have each day scheduled separately or repeat a days schedule all week. You can easily also override the schedule by pushing the button to turn the item on or off and the schedule will continue without having to do anything else.
So if a lamp is due on at 17:00 until 22:00, if you manually switch the active socket on at say 16:00 it will stay on until it’s scheduled to go off at 22:00. Brilliant!!!

Hive make a great produc
This is so easy to use as part of the Hive family. Obviously I can turn on the attached table lamp when I am 300 miles away, why not? Definitely one of my best tech. investments. I’m waiting for the Hive outdoor video camera to be released so I can watch sunsets from my Scottish home while working in the south.
Have i switched it off?
It is the case of not sure whether we have switched off certain electrical item and it is good to know that I can control it remotely. Easy to set up and functioning well.

Extremely easy to set up and use. Can auto switch on via Hive App and by Hive Sensors/schedules. Has manual override, so socket behaves just like the socket it is plugged into, without losing the remote control feature. Perfect for those scenarios where hive does not have a bulb or tube to replace the ceiling light with.

I use this in my guest bedroom with a radiator. I can remotely turn off the unit if it’s been left on accidentally. Have just ordered more for Christmas tree lights and side table lamps.

Since having the hive heating system installed, I received one of these plugs for free. At first I was a little hesitant thinking they were just a gimmick however after having one and now purchasing another 3 I believe they’re fantastic, the ability to schedule items from your phone to turn on/off. What’s more since the update of iOS 12 you can actually engineering them to work with iPhone and Siri.

Plus over the years the various mechanical timers & electronic timers I have had on a table lamp have given up at some point.

FANTASTICALLY USEFUL
I have hive system and I use this plug to control a lamp in my bedroom for security when I am away from home overnight I program it to go on and off a couple of times in the evening so it look from the outside like someone is switching the lights on and off inside the house.

It’s a Hive plug – I’m not new to hive, this is an addition that was on a lightning deal – otherwise I wouldnt purchase it at full price. Hive is over priced – 39 for a plug that at best will last a year/18months.
It does exactly what it should do and they are easy peasy to set up. Highly convenient.

The Hive Active Smart Plug is a very useful addition to a Hive smart home; you will need a Hive hub and the Hive app to integrate it into the system. Once set-up, it can be linked to the Alexa app to allow voice control from an Amazon Echo.
The smart plug works very much like a plug-in timer, but is much easier to programme and control. At full price it’s fairly expensive, but I was fortunate to get a reduce price offer, which made it about the same price as a decent timer. So, I bought one and it’s now all set-up, albeit a bit early, ready for our Christmas lights.
Set-up, as with all Hive devices, was quick and simple and it can be controlled, through the app, either on a schedule, or manually, and by Alexa using the app or voice control. Alternatively, on and off can be controlled manually by pressing the button on the plug.

Was nearly 3 times as much as another but this is more reliable and the hive app is pretty easy to use

I can turn on my bedroom light as well as the bedroom t.v. when away from home or on holiday.

Bought this to control the outside light as the timer plug I had was a pain to keep adjusting as the night get longer and shorter – now I can do it easily from my chair and it was easy to set up – job done
I used to use ordinary timers for my lamps but have now updated them to these Hive switches & what a difference. No more having to keep adjusting the timers all the time because of the light fading or it getting lighter in the evenings. The Hive switch is controlled by your phone or tablet & the settings are more flexible than an ordinary plug making things much more easier.

Second one I’ve bought and really like the hive range for durability and quality. It does remain really expensive however and so I don’t buy as many products as I would otherwise. However it works seamlessly with the hive app and with Alexa so really don’t have any complaint with the product just the high price tag

It’s great very handy to use when you’re plug is out of reach great for mobilty issues. I have 3 only issue so far was latest update from hive as knocked 1 off-line . So Amazon at replacing as won’t connect.

Ive bought several of these to accompany my home Hive system. Im really impressed with them, and how easy they were to set up. They intergrated well with the app and work reliably with the plugged in appliances.

Worked straight away – easy set up. Now I can be super lazy and tell my ceilng fan to turn on without having to lift a finger!
Only had this for a few hours but simple to set up. Mine is synced to a door sensor (easy to do) and turns on a light when we open a door from the house to the garage. Leave the door open and I set the light to stay on for 30 minutes (all adjustable) Close the door and the light turns off. It is Echo enabled and you can turn it on/off at the unit itself.
These are expensive and I’ve o my invested in Hive as I have their heating. I’m sure you could do the same thing a lot cheape

Hive Active Plug is great addition to the smart home.
Used over the past 4 months to control lights, particularly when away. At Xmas, use it to remotely turn tree lights on/off due to plug being in an awkward place.
Great being able to control the lights when away from home at any distance via the app on phone.
Note, you have to have the HIVE system installed. Then you can add the devices (eg Active Plug) to the system.
it just works. I’ve got mine linked into the Hive app and IFTT to turn on a camera whenever I leave home. During the holidays, I had it on a timer to turn on the Christmas tree lights.

Don’t waste your money on the cheaper products-if your using Alexa with built in hub really really easy to set up plug in turn on the appliance your using ask Alexa to find it —sorted working— no need to use separate apps on your phone or worry about your hub and phone using 2.4 WiFi band. So far works perfect, shall be purchasing more.

Easy to setup with my existing Hive system/hub. I am using it to turn my Christmas tree lights on/off as the socket is buried behind the tree. Controlling via my Alexa Dot, “Alexa tree on” or “Alexa tree off”, works perfectly 🙂
I bought this for my father who has a Hive controlled heating system but for my home I have chosen TP-Link smart plugs controlled by Alexa Echo voice prompts.
Set up of this Hive plug is easy enough and setting schedules etc. is logical using the Hive app. The range is good and manual control works well too although I miss the voice capability of Alexa.
My final observation that is that this Hive Smart Plug is quite expensive compared to the competition considering you have to have a Hive Hub for it to work – that’s not true of my cheaper TP-Link versions which you can connect directly via any Apple or Android mobile device hence four stars.

Great item. It’s the 3rd I brought in a week. This one took a bit longer to set up as need resting. But went on Hive live chat, was sorted in seconds. Looking at the bulb next for spare room. Hive has changed our lives as we can control everything when out. Great for these dark cold nights. When at work I randomly turn on and off lights. Would recommend this to everyone.

Great way of saving money by controlling when the TV will go on and off. Now the TV is not on overnight which has already saved 20 in just a few weeks. This will pay for its self quickly!

This was my 4th plug purchase for use on my Hive system. I am very pleased with the operation and ease of set up on these products. I use them foe table lamps on and off while we are out or away. The Hive system allows me to set up schedules which vary day by day which enhances the appearance of somebody being at home – I hope!

Great. Works really well. Not sure on the difference between this one and the latest generation other than the manual power button on this one is on the top which I think is better. Maybe this unit is slightly larger….? Works easily and quickly with my Hive hub, and also with Amazon Alexa once I had discovered the device again through the Alexa app.
First smart plug that I have purchased and I’m impressed with it up to now. Haven’t managed to get it working with Alexa yet though, for some reason. Perhaps I’m just not saying the right command, as it should work much like the Hive active lights.

Bought it as an addition to our Hive heating system and currently used for a lamp. It probably does have more practical uses than what we use it for but it was a bit of a gimmick for us. Takes considerably longer to open the app and turn on than it would to walk to the switch! It was a much better price on here than on the Hive website though.

A very useful addition to the Hive Control system, which you have to have already installed for this plug to work. It is a very useful device for use when you are away from home. Just by using the Hive app on your smart phone you can use this Plug when you need to turn things on and off remotely. A very reasonable price on Amazon. I would recommend this product.

This is a great addition to your hive set. Day to day I use this for a living room lamp, the plug for this is hard to access so I can control through the app or via Alexa. At Christmas I used these for Christmas lights and Christmas tree. This device Allen me to have the devices on an automatic timer so I didn’t have to manually turn them off and on each night and again I could control via the app and Alexa

Perfect complement to the Hive
This has to be one of the easiest connected object to set up. It is really just: take out of the box, put in the plug, plug whatever you need – and it is done. The Hive found it without having to go through any special set up. Wonderful.
The range is very good – I placed mine in a far corner where I thought Wifi coverage would be an issue, but no, it works perfectly well.
Fantastic addition to the Hive heating. Easy to install and pair up with the Hive hub and then the router itself. It`s connected to a lamp in the hallway which now at the tap of a button allows me to control the light at will-this is great when you arrive home late and it`s dark. I cannot fault this item at all. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants total control of any electronic devices in their home from the control of the Hive app.
his is a really good add-on to the hive system. works in exactly the same way from the desktop or smartphone interface so can be switched-on automatically using a schedule or ‘ad-hoc ly’. there’s a on-off button on top of the plug to switch on manually.

It works fine for me. I have the hive heating controller. This was added to the same app, and is easy to set schedule for contoling a small lamp in living room while we out.
My review is for the Active Plug. This works great for me – I have my TV, Playstation and Wii plugged in to an extension which is plugged into the Hive box. This helps me keep them all switched off when they’re not in use. Really easy to set up and the improved app makes it easier to control my other Hive devices. I’m now ordering the Hive Active bulbs due to the positive experiences I’ve had with the other products.
A great product, which at a first glance looks a little expensive for what it is. However not only do you have the ability to turn lights/appliances on remotely you can have a security lighting system that can have multiple on/off setting per day, 7 days a week, and that at the touch of the smart phone app.
Was slightly concerned about the distance this plug was going to be from the hub, but no problems.
