Overpriced but works well.
Great for being able to remotely control a socket. We have it hooked to an electric heated towel rail. Can be switched on and off via the hive app. Don’t use alexa and don’t Intend too.

This device integrates well with my existing smart devices and app. The only down side is that is a bit overpriced.
Straightforward installation and integratio
I’m no techie and have a hive hub set up by gas engineer for heating. These plugs were a doodle and worked within 2 minutes. Christmas tree lights now on and off automatically. Manual override if want them on early to lighten these grey days.
Great product - a little overpriced
Great product and works well. ‘Hive’ products are rather expensive with alternative products now becoming available. The controlling ‘App’ is less predictable – recent software upgrades are often released without sufficient testing or apparent reason for change – resulting in some instability. Hive plug hardware appears to be well made and is reliable.

Brilliant for all the Christmas lights as easy to set on off times on the app and saves a lot of struggling to switch all lights on . Bought on black Friday deal so was at a great price
Works well with our Hive System
Needed to schedule small Xmas houses – joins 3 other hive plugs doing similar things.
Main disappointment was the DELIVERY – left outside our outer door and in an opened state – fortunately not raining – otherwise straight back to Amazon. We don’t expect this from Amazon.
Get what you pay for.
I have these and also some cheaper TP-link ones. whilst I thought it was impossible for a smart plug to differ, the set up is super easy with these plugs. The TP-link app is not as straight forward.
Good technology
I purchased the plug to switch off and on my Tv using Alexa, just plug in and away it goes,recognised on Hive and Alexa, works great.

Slick, hassle free plug control
Thanks to the lazy modern era I bought some cheaper remote plugs. They were rubbish and needed their own app. These are much more expensive, significantly better and absolutely worth it.
Does what it should
Already have a hive system in place so this slotted in no problem. Just plug in & the hive app finds the new device. I’ve now set up some voice commands via hive & the shortcuts app on my iPhone & can switch this off from my chair. All good!
Works well, but expensive
Works and integrated well with the HIVE hub.
It works well with the hive home app and the responsiveness is the same as other devices. I am using mine to turn on and off a humidifer and it works well. I don’t see why this couldn’t be used to power other devices, just be sure to only power items less than 3000 watts as recommended by the specs.
I purchased a single one below 30, but it still feels quite expensive to justify it’s usage.

Really impressed with this plug. Got it for my bedroom lamp as wanted verbal activation by my bedroom Alexa echo. I have Hive heating and hub so seemed best option.
So easy to set up and link to the Hive App and then Alexa easily identified it.
Cost a bit more but ease of activation worth it.

I used to use the old mechanical timers which were fine, but not the best. So when they stopped working I decided to get these to go with my hive heating system.
No more hassle. Works great on the app to set up times and works great with alexa on my echo dot.

Bought this on offer to replace a mechanical timer that was too noisy when used in the bedroom for a fan at night. Already had the Hive hub and app for the boiler / heating so simply plugged this in, added the device via the app and configured the required times on / off. All done in 5 or 10 minutes. Looks good for a plug and does exactly what is says it will do. Can’t comment on Alexa as we don’t have that and I am not sure I’d pay full price but if you already have the Hive for heating, I’d highly recommend this.

These work great but are expensive, particularly as minimum order is 2. I have bought generic smart plugs from Amazon which work equally as well with Alexa and are half the price. Vale for money – no too expensive

Just what I needed
I bought several of these and set up a multi-lamp schedule for security while I’m out after dark. Worked perfectly – I tested it while I was home and then checked on it while I was away with my phone. It was a bit tedious setting up different schedules with different times each day on each plug but was worth the effort. The only drawback I found was that the normal lamp switch won’t work if the lamp is plugged into the Active Plug instead of directly into the wall socket, so even in ‘Manual’ mode you have to use your phone to turn the lamp on and off.

Control the tempriture 2. Control my Deumidifier 3. Just works as expected
I dislike the price although AMAZON was quite a bit cheaper than BG direct.
THEN THE GOOD BITS: integrates perfectly with my Hive installation which I love. This is the reason I bought Hive switches as I only need the one Application on the iPhone or iPad. You can buy similar remote switches for 1/3rd of the price but I have no personal experience of these – but I am familiar with the ‘HIVE Phone and Online help service’ which is great if you should experience any problem. I do have a ‘Amazon Echo/Alexa’ but haven’t as yet used it with Hive so won’t comment yet. I purchased 2 single switches from Amazon as it was cheaper than buying the twinpack !
So to sum up, if you already have the ‘Hive’ heating controls which includes the Hive Hub, then I’d recommend you buy these switches .

These plugs were purchased to work with household lamps and the all important dual controlled electric blanket.
They were easy to install, and to integrate with the existing Hive system. Everything is working well.
I bought this Hive smart plug in conjunction with a motion sensor. I’ve set the sensor in my bathroom so when the room is entered the light comes on automatically. You can dictate how long the light stays on for. Being in an electric wheelchair it makes life much easier. Even though I have the hub it’s frustrating I needed to buy the Hive plug instead of using a generic Wi-fi plug which would be much cheaper. Because of its medical aid practicalities it would be nice to buy with VAT exemption. It does what I needed it to do although I think it’s a little overpriced.

Absolutely Fantastic
Works perfectly with my media system and Hive light bulbs in my 2 lounge lamp and Amazon Echo along with my Hive Heating system. I like it when we retire for the night we simply say “Alexa Goodnight” and all our media sytem devices and lamps turn off. Just waiting for my Harmony Hub to arrive later today to link in with my Logitech Harmony Touch remote, then my whole lounge is fully automated.
Got this to replace an old fashioned dial timer plug and to integrate with my new Hive hub which came with an Alexa dot – looks smart, works well (and is silent unlike my old plug!). Can be manually switched on and off, scheduled via Hive app and integrates with Alexa. Only downside is the price, I had better get saving as I need 2 more!
Update: managed to get them while on sale for 22 – much better value!

Quite good. Slight missed opportunity.
It’s very good but it could do with some more intelligent voice commands. For example you can tell Alexa/use the app to turn on and off absolutely fine. But if you want it on for 10 mins for example, the functionality of the app/Alexa won’t turn the plug off after 10 mins automatically. It seems like a missed opportunity but it’s a great gadget nonetheless. And has actually made our lives a little easier.

Versatile plug
I like the flexibility you get with the Hive smart plugs over the conventional timer. We’ve installed 3 of these around the house and can now operate the lights as you would if at home. Instead of lights coming on and off at a fixed time we now have versatility which is great. Can be operated from your smart phone irrespective of where you are or can be scheduled to come on and off at set times.
Yes, expensive but worth it!
I am delighted with this plug! I was all set to send it straight back to Amazon as I didn’t expect it to do what I required, i.e. to connect to a multiple plug which would mean that I could turn on my electric blanket, bedside light and Kindle charger while I still watched TV downstairs in the evening. I have just set it up and it does all that. It doesn’t like the touch lamp with three different intensities but this still works independently from the same multiple outlet. Have installed a small individual lamp as well and it accepts this. Alexander was slow to take the plug on board but got there in the end.

Took a few minutes to get it right I had to uninstall it and reinstall then it was okay I use it to turn the kettle on when i want a drink but you have to remember to turn off the plug and switch the kettle on so when you turn the plug on it starts the kettle to heat up as i am a bit disabled its is great i can turn the kettle on up staires and by the time i get down staires the kettle has boiled and same when i come home i can turn it on and the kettle will be boiled by the time I walk in the front doo

Great smart plug. Easy to set up and controllable from Alexa or the Hive app. It’s great for switching lamps that won’t accept a smart bulb or things like the slow cooker.
The best smart plugs I have used
Easier to use than the TP-Link ones. Integrates nicely with Alexa and Google. I use mine for controlling a fan and a light and I’m planning on buying another one. I also have two TP-LINK smart plugs which are not quite as good in respect to accepting commands via Alexa.

Bought this so I could check that I hadn’t left my straighteners on as I get very paranoid about them. This works a treat. Great piece of mind and useful to use to switch lights on and off when you go on holiday. It, like all hive equipment, is very pricey.
Works very well but quite pricey
This often goes on sale for around 25 and I think that’s a good price point. This smart plug requires a hub this is ok if you already invested in the hive eco system otherwise you’d have to fork out 70+ for the hub. The smart plug is very useful, you can use it to turn you normal devices/appliances into a ‘smart’ one ie plug your fan via the smart plug leave it on and then turn it off or on using the hive app or voice activated using Google/Alexa. You can use it with you iron and get peace of mind when you are out of your house and turn the plug off remotely in case you forgot to turn off your iron.
The design and build quality is nice, sturdy and durable but a bit on the bulky side. Set up is very easy and straight forward especially if you already have the Hive eco system. Whilst the app could be a lot better, it is very simple and easy to use. It’s functionality is very good, you can set up automation/routines and you can also set up the smart plug to be used with other Hive integrated products like door sensor, camera and lights.
I like this smart plug and find it handy and useful, however I can only really recommend it if you’re already locked into the Hive eco system and if it’s on sale other wise there are cheaper alternatives out there that is less bulky and doesn’t require a hub. Hope this helps with your purchase decision.

I use this plug with my Alexa. It was easy to install ,it only took a couple of minutes. If I’m at home I use the Alexa voice control and if I want my lights on as a security measure if im away from home i can do through the Alexa app or Hive.
Just another Hive plug
I’ve bought these plugs before and I’ve had them less than 12 month. To date none have failed and all work as expected. There are cheaper similar products on the market but not Hive compatible. Luckily I bought this on a Prime Day.
Excellent produc
I now have several of these around my flat to control fans, ionisers etc. Used in conjunction with Alexa they are a great addition to any smart home.
Great for making a cuppa in the morning.
We have a couple of these. One switches the washing machine on early in the morning so the washing is done when we get up.
The other one has a far more important use.
It operates the kettle. My alarm goes off at 6.15 and at the same time, the hive app switches this plug on, which switches the kettle on. I walk down stairs to a boiled kettle and make a brew and go back up and get a shower.

The Hive app is slightly clunky and I find it crashes a lot but stick with it and it does its job well.

Worth a try
I bought the hive plugs and I am sure like many other people you always get one that will not programme and the person trying to connect it may have installed it wrong. After a lengthy chat with hive representative the final plug has been installed and so far it has disconnected once and need to be re installed but all others worked with minimal effort. Don’t dismay if installing and you get frustrated contact hive and they will sort it for you. Next I need to install the bulbs I can’t wait for that trauma . Worth every penny and hive is expanding all the time i wouldnt live witjoit my hive now it really adds more assistance to your busy life.

Great little gadge
Love this Hive plug, we already have Hive active heating so use this on a lamp in our living room where the socket is difficult to reach. We use Alexa voice control to switch it on and off but can also schedule the lamp on/off when we are not there. Well worth having for any appliances.

I love my hive active plug. I use this one for my electric blanket, having ME and other long tern health conditions, this makes it easy to turn on and off my blanket when I need to. I would highly recommend this without any qualms.

Good item, quite pricey though
Great items – we use to control our hard to reach lounge lamps – very few issues, but they are reliant on internet and sometimes (not that often) they will fail to sync whic is annoying but in the main really good. Only downside is price which is high in my opinion.

Part of my Hive set up
Bought this to be able to program the turning on and off of a electric heater in a small room without central heating. I only need it to turn on automatically for about half an hour in the morning, and can override the program if I want it on again later by using the push button at the front. It forms part of my Hive system and is programmable or simply controlled from my phone or Echo dot.

Flawless performance.
Setup was dead easy. We used this to control the christmas lights with this plug situated in the garage. The relatively weak wifi signal was no problem for it and we were able to control it via the Hive app. I ended up setting a schedule for the lights to come on around 4pm and off late in the evening. Since we put the xmas lights away the plug is now controlling a standard lamp in the lounge, controlled via Alexa 🙂

I can only give this item 4 star The product is good, but on a few occasions it doses it’s own thing. It will turn off unexpectedly and shut down the item connected to it.
Very handy device
I’ve got lots of Hive stuff (heating, bulbs) but this was my first plug. I have it in my garage controlling my outside garden light. Previously I had a manual plug timer, but as the daylight hours changed I had to keep going into the garage and adjusting it, so I thought a smart plug would be more convenient. It is. Had no problems pairing it, even though it’s quite a ways from the hub. It’s worked faultlessly since.
