Arrived quickly. A the timer light did not function properly and customer service was amazing trouble shooting with me. After a few days and attempts it was decided a new piece be shipped out. Waiting for the piece but assume it will work great. Already have a few shoots springing up which is exciting seeing as I’ve only had it about 2 weeks I think.

The herbs grow very well in this system. The only problem is the pump stopped working after a few months.

We bought for our son who like gardening! He used it to start his seedlings to transfer to a small garden bed! He also used it to start a mini herb garden!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI would like to say I’m very impressed with your company and service. When I gave the review about the pump stopped working the first week but didn’t want to disturb the already started plants I certainly didn’t expect another replacement the next day! Wow! You don’t see this impressive service and companies standing behind their products like that anymore! Wow! Thank you! I will definitely purchase more from your company in the future I can promise you that! I already sent the original one back. I just changed out the bottom section with the pump and problem solved. Thanks for you great service!!!! Alexandra

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAs my first hydroponic purchase I was a bit worried but the Idoo system is beginner friendly and after having it for 7 days my tomatoes are already growing and looking healthy. My peppers seem to be taking a bit longer and only 1 of the seeds placed have germinated but that could just be user error. I will provide photos and an updated review as things progress but I am hopeful. It was easy to set up but confusion around having to refill the water and nutrients as the water level hasn’t dropped since filling it once. I am assuming it’s just that the seedlings just don’t consume that much water yet and I plan on changing the water out every 7-10 days or so just to be safe. I will provide an update on Oct 30th with photos.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI have been using it for 4 weeks and I love the iDOO Hydroponics Growing System. It was so easy to set up. I soaked the brown sponges before I put the seeds in them. Most of my seeds germinated-Basel,cilantro, mesclun mix, Bibb lettuce, grape tomato, rosemary. But some did not-spinach,chives. I replaced those with more lettuce. Old seeds did not work for me. When I bought new seeds I choose varieties that stay smaller. After 4 weeks I have picked a lot of lettuce leaves. I leave the base plant and just take the largest leaves. Trimmed basil 3 times and I need to trim the cilantro. Even though I chose a mini grape tomato, it got too tall compared to the lettuce so I re-hydro potted it in a large glass container covered with black plastic. I like the adjustable height light, cooling fan and accessories. The fertilizer seem to work really well . There is no sound or smell from the machine. I have not had to change the water just add more with a little fertilizer added.I would buy the iDOO brand again. I have had zero issues with it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is the coolest thing in the planting world I have ever seen. My wife’s friend convinced us to get this plant grower since I love to cook and use herbs all the time. It’s very easy to assemble and manage. We are growing 12 different herbs. One for each space provided and within 3 days we started seeing sprouts. The lights and fan are so cool. They are on a timer and come on automatically. When they come on at night, I feel like I am on a runway and a bowing 747 should be landing any minute. LOL It’s been 3 weeks now and some herbs are going crazy, and some are just now sprouting and coming alive. The only thing I have a question about and need to look up is how often I need to add the plant food in the water. This would make an amazing Christmas gift for plant lovers. Especially since the price is reasonable.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSeit einem Jahr luft meine Anzuchtstation problemlos.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s been a few weeks since planting seeds, and I have abundant lettuce, dill, basil, coriander and Asian tatsoi, that I’m already eating. And slowing-growing behind (due to slower germination – not the machine) it is the mint and strawberries. For the first time I haven’t needed to buy supermarket lettuce. And my 6 year old who normally isn’t keen on salad, is actually eating lettuce and basil leaves directly broken off from the plant.

I highly recommend the machine, and bought a second machine – I like it so much.

The second machine is proving helpful for spacing lettuce further apart and having different stages of growth – mature lettuce in one machine and planting the new in the second machine.

No insecticides, no insects, and suitable even for high rise apartment.

Also I note that in some reviews people believed the fan wasn’t working – when in actual fact it switches on and off on a timer, and I believe in some cases it may be that the fan was on a normal “off” within the cycle and they falsely believed it not working (when it was doing exactly as it was supposed to).

So far I like everything about the iDOO hydroponics machines. One of my friends has bought one also, having seen the progress of mine every week.

First time using a hydroponic system and it was worth it. All my seeds germinated insanely fast and I don’t have any problems at all. Within a month, my lettuce and pak choi grew an insane amount – probably bigger than the space allows. I don’t need to buy any replacements yet but according to my research it’s quite expensive (if you buy it from the seller directly). But you can just look for substitutes and it should work just as well. The pictures were taken on July 25th and August 11th. I started on the 13th July.

I had no problem with the assembly and so far everything is working even after I cleaned the entire system once. I used destilled and normal tap water, both seem to work fine.

I’m quite happy with my purchase and encourage anyone who wants to have an easy indoor herb garden to give it a try.

    Good starter ki

Using it to grow Lettuce, onion, and Cucumbers. This is a good (fast) way to germinate seeds, but don’t expect to grow anything larger than herbs to their full potential.

Just put some beautiful big boy tomatoes in the garden, and successfully started cucumber, sweet and jalapeo peppers. Next year I will start a month or so earlier and then transfer seedlings to a pot so that I can plant my garden in time. If space and money were none issues, I would just buy 10 of these…

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve been growing Toy Choi which grows 8-10 inches high from Parks seeds in this black non wifi vs. 12 pod IDOO since February 2022. Since the unit has plenty of space I can use all pods. It germinated fast and grew wonderfully. When I ran out of nutrients since I have aerogarden nutrients I used them in the IDOO. I supplement all my gardens of different brands with Cal mg and Sea magic from parks. This crop is a heavy feeder and likes it cold so I top fill with cold water to prevent bolting.
I’ve been keeping my crop going harvesting from outside in leaving center 4 leaves. The fan helps towards firm, crunchy taste that is mild and delicious. Of everything I own this unit yields a lot.
I get 4-5 cups chopped a week. Yes I decided to measure last few times. Love it so much I got another. My price was $67 so therefore excellent return on investment. Very little labor other than top off water via easy to see little window, feed and harvest. I do a complete water change monthly and super easy and fast. If it goes on sale I may buy a couple more lol. The one thing I don’t see is extra pumps for sale so I bought an aquarium air pump to insert when pump dies. Also
The pods are pricey but nice and firm. My major issue is no cover for the pods to prevent algae so I either use aerogarden labels or makeshift tinfoil ones which work well but it’s more labor. So print , buy or make some labels or you will get green algae on top of pods. I never got any due to using covers. Last no major bells or whistles but mostly what you need.

We have had this unit for a couple months and are very pleased with the results. It was purchased so I can have fresh herbs for my daily cooking, which has been an issue in the last several months. The grocery stores frequently have a limited variety of fresh herbs, if any, and what is available is poor quality and goes bad within a day or two after buying it. As well, the price, like so many other grocery items, keeps increasing.

I planted the herbs I use most often (basil, thyme, rosemary, chive, oregano, Italian parsley, dill and cilantro) and am now harvesting 2-3 times a week. I get the small amounts I need for specific dishes and a little extra to keep in the fridge.

If you’re tired of poor quality store herbs and the cost of same, I recommend growing your own with this unit.

I have attempted to grow my own herbs many times and have always failed. This system is so simple to use and appears to be fail safe (so far). I clean the tank and put fresh water and nutrients in every Thursday. Other then that, I just have to watch the plants grow. I planted 11 pods (leaving a space between the kale and grape tomatoes) and of those 11, thyme is the only one that has not germinated. Checking out the garden is the first thing the kids and I do each morning and it’s amazing to see the growth from the night before.
I am giving this a 4/5 star review because it has only been 2 weeks, so I cannot speak for longevity but I am very encouraged. I am already looking to buy the 20 pod system to start growing some larger plants!

I finally have a green thumb!

I kill every beautiful green plant or blossoming flower that has the misfortune of being in my care, and it doesn’t help that I don’t get direct sunlight in my apartment. Well, this iDOO Hydroponics System is making me broody for the first time in my life. It was so easy to get started. As soon as you set it up it basically does all the work itself. I now have basil and cherry tomatoes.
I had to repot the tomatoes in soil as they were taking over the hydroponics system, and I just replaced the pods with more basil seeds. I can report that the tomatoes are doing well. I have kept them next to the system to hone in on the grow lights.

Easy to assemble, use and clean. Seeds sprout super fast and plants grow quickly, much faster than using soil. Fan is pretty quiet, don’t find it disruptive. Light is bright so you won’t want the unit near a bedroom if turned on over night. Cats are fascinated by it so had to place it where they can’t reach it.

I have other growers from another famous company but this one beats those hands down. First, it is a bigger capacity container. Second, you have a choice of the lights to use. Third, while it does not have reminder lights that the water level is low or when to add plant food, I never liked those features on my other growers anyway. I bought two growers from this company and the only thing I will say that is negative is one of them had short plant baskets. No idea what they were thinking with that but they are easily replaced with longer ones.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst the good points- Easy to setup; Great at growing small plants from seeds; The system has a pumps; Minimum maintenance; You don’t have to water the plants, because the system has it’s own nutrient level; You can grow up to 12 seeds together.
The negatives are- Pricey for what it is; You would never be able to grow 12 adult plants together in the system due to the fact that the plants will obscure the light from each other as they grow. Also, you would need to support the adult plants; The water should be changed regularly, and the pump cleaned; You can’t buy the nutrients separately. You need to use distilled water with the system; You still need to maintain the ambient temperature(I have purchased a fan to maintain the temperature, and a temperature monitor).
This said, I have been very happy with my purchase because growing plants this way has been far more efficient compared to propagator and pots. I started growing a Trinadad moruga scorpean plant on 12 December, and I am just starting to get flowers.

Great for growing plants from seed

Tolle Verpackung ohne viel Verpackungsmüll erster Eindruck Hochwertig

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersIch habe das IDOO 4L Anzuchtsystem jetzt seit 4 Wochen und bin vllig zufrieden.

Super straight forward! Even though I haven’t grown anything just yet I have faith it’ll work. Living in an apartment without a license makes getting fresh veggies, fruits, and herbs slightly difficult.. so this is going to make my life so much easier. It’s lighter than I expected (it’s just plastic) but it’s good quality. Assembly was so easy that I thought I was doing something wrong lol. The light and pump timer work well- that was the biggest thing I was unsure about. I wish they had pre-seeded pods available but it isn’t hard to purchase your own seeds and plant them in the sponges. Very happy with this and can’t wait to grow things!

Only ready i gave 4 stars for sturdyness is because the plastic is that kind that will just crack if mishandled, but with a bit of care this is should not be a problem.

I planted seeds 2 days ago and they have sprouts. Good to get a head start on the June garden outside or grow all year round. Haven’t used hydroponic grower before so we will see how it goes. Usually seed all my garden vegetables inside and then transplant in June outside in raised garden beds and greenhouse. Nice addition to my green thumb. Happy New Year all!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is my 2nd idoo I also have the larger 20 podsystem. I’ve been growing lettuce in both but I must say the addition of the fan and pump in this 12 pod model really makes a difference. My lettuce is on it’s 3rd week now and they’re growing beautifully really lush and stocky. I will be looking to increase my yealds with a third soon :). The idoo is very versatile allowing you to use your own seeds and you can substitute rockwool for the sponges which appealed to me as the other models restrict you to their pods and seeds which can be expensive. If youre interested in indoor gardening I would recommend this system.
UPDATE 6/1: I was able to start harvesting at 4 weeks. I got a huge bowl of mixed leaves enough for several days.

    I love this!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis model cleared up all the issues the smaller unit had. The most important is the electronics are above the water this time. The controls are also improved on this model as you can now turn on or off the fan without affecting the pump cycle. A bonus was the live herbs at our supermarket fit right in the unit so I knock off four weeks getting herbs started.

I am pleasantly surprised and I look forward to see how it continues to grow. Very easy to set up and plant. I found it easy following the instructions. Just make sure the water tank is full to the 4L mark. Otherwise the pods won’t get saturated with water and plant food. I love the automatic timer and it is pretty quiet.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI normally purchase vegetables that I transplant into large pots each year, but wanted to try something different. I decided to do a hydroponic garden. I reviewed several brands & types and finally chose the IDOO 12pod. There were some delays in receiving it (it was delayed twice), but it finally arrived and I was like a kid opening a Christmas present. It was easy to set up, although I did review a YouTube video just to be sure I was doing everything correctly. It came with the grow light, seed pods, baskets to sit them in, hats to go over the top once planted, nutrients, & tags. Seeds have to be purchased separately. I planted my seeds and prayed for the best. Below is the initial setup – 1st pic, and then with veggies growing. I did not fill up all pods and in this planting I did veggies that will be transplanted into pots. There are small lid covers to use in the spaces where you are not planting anything to keep water from evaporating too quickly. The light is very bright but the fan and agitation of the water is whisper quiet. The timing sets automatically so you can plan what is best for you. MY IDOO comes on at 8 am and cuts off at midnight – 16hrs. Later, I will do herbs that will grow in the IDOO and remain in it. I planted my garden on March 13, 2021.

One issue: I noticed my cucumber leaves that were coming up beautifully started wilting. I had 2 other veggies that were not coming up. I had at 1st attributed it to the seeds but then I noticed how dry the seed sponges were. Even with the top hats over them, there was no moisture. The end 3 slots, for whatever reason, do not appear to be getting water. The garden is sitting level even thought it may not look like it in the picture. That’s because of the angle in which I took the photos. There is plenty of water in the water tank. You can check the level from the front of the machine where there is a view window for that very purpose. I moved the 3 veggies around, moved the cover lids to the empty slots and now my cucumber leaf is vibrant and looks like it is about to bust free. The other 2 veggies are beginning to come up as well. I gave the IDOO 4 stars because of this issue.

All-in-all I am excited about my purchase and look forward to growing herbs and other veggies. This is truly a joy. Even as my back begins to give out, knowing that I can still have some fresh herbs & veggies, grown right inside my kitchen, is a definite perk. What a Joy, indeed.

    What a Joy!

This is my first indoor/hydroponic garden so I don’t have anything to compare to. Thus, this review is based solely on my initial thoughts on this product. I have the 12 hole garden and received it earlier than expected. Packaging is well done and the product arrived in one piece. Nice box with quality foam packing molded to the garden inside. Once opened and removed the garden comes out in two pieces; the light panel and the main body. All other parts/accessories are packaged neatly inside the water tank area (along with the light panel arm). Assembly is easy and straightforward with well written instructions. I was able to have everything put together in less than 15 minutes including mixing the nutrients and adding seeds to the sponges. The footprint is not very large so I was able to find a corner behind my bar to give it a home. Build quality seems robust and the materials seem quality. Here is where I can’t compare to the other brands, but I can assume it’s close to equivalent. As for features, it isn’t very high tech, no app to control anything or warnings for low water levels so of you are looking for something with less user input this may not be for you. I prefer less tech sometimes as it means less things to break and easier to modify to my needs. I’ve had it for two days now, so I will update this review after a few weeks once I start getting some growth. My only complaint so far is the light panels max height of around 11 inches. It limits what can be grown. However, the power for the panel is external and with a few minor modifications I think it can be extended higher to accommodate taller plants at some point. So far I am pleased with the garden and hope to be enjoying the bounty to come soon enough. I started with 6 herbs as a test (Basil,Dill,Oregano, Parsley, Cilantro, and Thyme) and will go from there.

Bought this for my wife so she could get into hydroponics. She’s been wanting something she could grow culinary herbs in and went with this unit. I’m so glad I did. It came with literally everything we needed to get a small herb garden going except the seeds. I also opted to get some PH Up and Down separately to make sure our water was within spec. This thing is super simple to setup and get going. The net cups are perfect along with the growing medium. It expands to fill the entire cup which is awesome to prevent light from getting underneath keeping algae at bay. I did 3D print my own small dry erase signs for each plant as the included signs were huge. The lights are on for 16 hours and off for 8. Once you put your seeds in the pods, most everything else is done for you automatically.

In just a few days, we already had seedlings.

The only things I can even mention that could use improving on (may even just be nitpicks):
-The screw that locks the led light panel to a certain height has a knob that is really small and somewhat hard to turn. Not a big deal, but I have a hard time gripping the knob properly.
-The signs that are included are really big and don’t fit into the slots very well. They work, but I 3d printed my own smaller signs.
-The pump and light cycle is controlled automatically so when you first turn it on, that is when the cycle starts. No way to set when the lights come on and turn off. I wanted the lights to be on during daylight hours and off at night to ensure the plants rested properly. I reset it at around 6am so it would turn off the lights around 10pm. Not a big deal, but wanted to make sure you were aware. You can turn the light off, but I think after 10 hours the light comes back on automatically.

It really is just about as perfect as we could have asked for and can’t wait until we can start using fresh herbs from it in the next few weeks!

Great Unit for a Herb Garden!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis Idoo indoor garden is an excellent value for the money and comparing it to the brand name {Aerogarden) product it is not only far less expensive the initial package is more complete including the fertilizing chemicals in bottles you simply add purified water to. Except for seeds you get everything you need to do two plantings (or possibly more since you may be able to reuse all the pods and sponges). The directions are very complete you get a quick start card as well as a detailed booklet. The English has some minor English as a Second language characteristics but is understandable. One huge advantage to this product is that the height for plants expands to a little over 14″ not so with the basic Aerogarden model. You would pay around three times the price for a 12 plant Aerogarden and still need some accessories unless you buy an even higher priced model. This was so easy to set up and plant and is obviously going to actually grow things because we are seeing the first signs, that we will likely buy a second unit. There are settings for automatic lighting and watering and those are easy to set up as well. The cord for the garden is more than adequate in length so you don’t need an extension cord. The unit looks nice, and fits just about anyplace. We have the first one we bought sitting on an end table in the living room. You only need about a 24 inch long by 12 inch wide by 20 inch high space in which to set the unit up. We used a glass top end table if you were putting it on a wood surface it might be best to put something under the unit to protec the surface. There is no leaking or anything but you could inadvertently spill water when adding water or fertilizer to the unit and some plants will drop leaves and other materials as they grow. It says you can grow almost anything about the only limits I see would be very large or very tall plants. You could probably grow a vine or heavier plant with some room outside the unit for vine spillover but then may need additional exterior lighting as well. We are avid gardeners with our spare bedroom affectionately referred to as our plant room. It has an indoor greenhouse with traditional spacing and a lot of light to pay for during the winter, with very mixed results. The Idoo should allow us to grow herbs, vegetables and even certain berries during the winter which will be a welcome change. We think that even a novice gardener or a child doing a 4H or science project would succeed with this kit, and without causing the parents to have to have a huge credit card bill or spend a tax refund to get started. It should also work well for starting seeds for the gardening season though you would probably need to transplant them soon. The directions suggest only about three seeds per pod and then thinning to one once the plants are established and some plants will transplant to go outdoors less well that early in their development. Overall, as promised and easy to use. Highly recommend this item.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersFirst, I must mention that I have grown thousands of awesome vegetables in dirt. The majority of those have been started from seed in row trays, plug trays or flats filled with a medium like promix & sat on heat mats. But I have never grown anything hydroponically & was excited to try. At this writing it has been 5 weeks since setting it up.

I chose this unit over others due to the good reviews & the fact that I could use my own seeds. And I was fascinated by the thought of seeding plants in cork plugs in water.

So I did a bit of an experiment by starting spinach, arugula & parsley both in the Idoo and in their usual trays. The arugula sprouted in 1 day in the Idoo but never was able to establish roots before it died. As usual it came up in 2 days in the plug trays & has already been transplanted to the soil. The spinach was started twice in the Idoo & just would not germinate so I took a couple seedlings from the traditionally started seeds & transplanted them into the Idoo pods. They took & are growing slowly though again, those outdoors are out performing. The parsley took longest to germinate & I must say that the hydroponic parsley has been pinched & used twice already whereas the outside parsley is less mature.

Black seeded Simpson lettuce has grown extraordinarily fast & is fun to watch. Romaine & butterhead are struggling. The basil is weak & 1 has died though it did start easily from seed. Same with dill.

Overall I believe I can keep parsley & maybe basil growing as a snipping herb garden & will still experiment with lettuces & greens.
It’s really fun to watch & would be great for kids or those who live in apartments or otherwise can’t plant outdoors. And if I can keep a few out of season herbs I will be happy.

My husband suggested 2 stars becuz he is 6’4″ & found it all too tiny & awkward to work with. (The little signs fall over are worthless. I drew a map of what was seeded & hung it on the wall behind it). I decided on 4 stars since there was no 3.5 becuz it really IS fun & educational & I do believe it can be put to practical use.

Golden Review Award: 212 From Our UsersReviewing the new IDOO Hydroponics Garden

My Christmas list definitely had a hydroponics garden on it. My dear sweet hubby came through, and after doing some research, he chose the IDOO Hydroponics Garden. This compares to the Aerogarden, and in my last post about hydroponics, I mentioned both. You can read all about hydroponics at nanwilkinson.com. So, without further ado, here’s my full review.

    Packaging:
First, it all was packaged very nicely, and the items were sorted in sealed bags. It didn’t take an engineer to put it all together either. The box comes with the base, a 12 hole lid, and a grow light. The bags are net pots, seed sponges, caps for the seeds, and two fertilizer bottles. The hardest thing to do was to figure out where to plug the cords in. You’ll see the two slots underneath the lamp. All I needed were the seeds. I did read the directions and found some online. While reading the directions, remember this is manufactured in China, and there are several grammatical errors on the directions (to instead of too). So, you’ll have to remove your English teacher hat and go with it.

    Planting:
I researched which seeds to plant, and because I didn’t want to take a personal trip to the nursery, I decided to try this out with what I had. I chose cherry tomatoes, dill, lettuce, spinach, parsley, and thyme. I have no idea how they will grow or if I will have a tangled mess, but, it’s all science to me.

The first thing I did was fill the base with tap water. You have to use tap water and not softened water because the minerals are needed for the pump. Our water is very hard, though, so I will have to keep an eye on the pump and research how to clean it. Next, add the minerals. You have to mix water with the minerals in each bottle and use 5ml per liter of water. I figured I had close to 5 liters of water, so I used 25ml out of each bottle. I am not sure what is in the bottles, but one looked very much like Miracle Grow. As I use up the fertilizer, I’ll have to look into other things you can use. I do love Dr. Earth’s liquid fertilizer.

Once you have the water in, you can turn on the pump. The cord is pretty short, so you will probably need an extension cord. The manufacturer recommends replacing the water every week and checking it daily. You don’t want it to drop below the 4 liters.

To plant the seeds, drop 2-3 seeds in the center of each seed pod. Once they germinate, you will need to remove the seedlings down to the strongest ones. Some of my seeds were older, so I put in several hopes at least one will germinate. The pictures in the directions show the seeds sitting on top of the peat pod. I used my powers of deduction and figured that’s why they put the little holes in the middle of the pods. Once the seeds are planted, place the cups on top and turn on the light. It says to put the light 2 above the seedling. However, it only goes so far down and is not 2 above the dome at its lowest point. I assume it will still work.

It does come with 12 seed markers. I first thought I could stick them in these little holes on top, but they didn’t work. So I just removed all of them and made a chart out of an index card. I would recommend the company create one of these that can be written on with a wipeable marker or several with the kit. A slot on the front would work to hold the card.

Lastly, turn on the light. It will go on for 16 hours and off for 8. If you want to shut off the light early, you can press the button, and it will return to the timer, so there is no worry about leaving it off. There are two modes on top — vegetable and flower. The vegetable has more of the blue spectrum light and the flower more of the red spectrum. The light is a full spectrum and is quite bright. My one concern was if the light fades the fabric near it. I noticed my bedspread was fading from the grow lights in my guest room/nursery. If this is the case, I can build a box around it. However, all my research states this has not happened to anyone.

    Maintenance:
As shared earlier, the company recommends changing the water weekly. This will use a lot of fertilizer, so I did a quick search, and any liquid fertilizer will work. You’ll also want to keep an eye on the water. The pump should never be run under 1.5 L. There is supposed to be a noise to protect the pump from alerting you that the water is low. The peat pods are supposed to be reusable, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve tried to reuse others, and you have to clean out a lot of roots, plus they fall apart. I’ll let you know if this one is reusable. They do recommend pruning consistently to make sure your plants don’t get spindly. After all, dill can get very tall. This wouldn’t work in this little container. Thus, plan on lots of little harvests.

    Final Words
Other than simple maintenance, I am hoping this is pretty carefree. The manufacture has really set this up to be foolproof. Hopefully, this fool will do well with it. But then, some seasons, I can’t give enough crops away, and others my vegetables even out to cost about $100 a pound. Maybe, this will be my answer, and I’ll buy a few more.

I got this as a Christmas present for myself. I have been thinking of starting with hydroponics to grow microgreens for a while and this is a very complete kit with good instructions so very good if you are new to this. It seemed a tad expensive but it’s actually pretty good value. The kit comes with everything you need except seeds. Add water and you are good to go. The overall impression is very good. Recommended!

Packaging: compactly packed, easy to assemble and set up
Product: while only time will tell if the product materials are truly of good quality, upon acquisition there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the plastic parts, the metal rod and the lights. So far my only complaint is that the power cord is too short. It’s ~45 inches, and for me to put it where I had intended, I’ll need to get a cord extender.
Instructions: the user manual was actually pretty easy to follow (minor typos, no big deal) – probably the most confusing line of instruction would be that you should “split the sponge to take one seedling out and move it to other pot” so you only have one seedling (once germinated) per pod. I’ll have to wait and see how this works out.

The manual mentions that there are refill pods and baskets available for purchase, but doesn’t actually include a link. I think it’d be really helpful for the system to come with some recommendations for what plants ARE good for hydrophonic systems. I’ve obviously Googled a lot and tried to do my research, but it’d be a nice touch from the manufacturer to include such tips. So excited to see what happens next though with the little pods I popped seeds into!

    Update:
It’s probably been 1.5-2 months, and I’ve raised the lamp for the first time. Herbs and lettuces and kales are growing super well in this! Sometimes the fan is louder than usual, but aside from that, no sign of structure problems. The only thing to note: once your plants are beyond the seedling stage, they can suck up quite a bit of water. The baskets are too shallow, in my opinion, and even if you’re at 3.5L, the baskets won’t touch water – which means if you have any seeds germinating, they’re actually going dry. Something to look out for! I’ve never changed the water, but you do have to be vigilant about refilling it constantly. Once the roots grow, it’s less of a concern, but water consumption is high!

    Update 2:
Changed water for the first time. Roots get entangled with each other, which makes for a pretty awkward operation. There’s visible fungi/mold growing on some of the substrate pods, and it seemed to kill off one of my stalks of basil (though the others are doing fine). Waiting to see if this issue might continue. I wish there were more information on how to deal with such situations.

Easy to set-up and start using!
