After years of buying cheap and cheerful strimmers that are short and give you back ache then eventually break I went for this one as I like Ryobi products. Bought the set with battery and charger included. You can buy without if you already use their one plus system. Very happy with it. You can adjust it to suit your height. Its a sturdy bit of kit that does the job well. The battery lasts well too.

his is a fun little toy, why it requires a battery reveiw for it I do not know as it does not come with any.
on a strim down of ft tall grass on 30m2 of grass I will normally get through 1x 6amp and 2x 4amp batterys.
as for the normal whip round garden tidy after a mow the battery lasts for a few cuts.

The Ryobi strimmer is recommended as the best by Which? magazine; it does not disappoint. However, if like me, you rushed to buy, beware there is a cheaper option to buy without the battery & charger. Some correspondents implied they were swindled, but the option clearly states, “Strimmer only”, or “Strimmer complete with battery & charger”. If you buy the battery & charger separately, it costs a whole lot more.
So, if you were a bit stupid like me, just return the item via Hermes, and order the complete deal. I returned the Strimmer alone box on a Friday, and received the full deal on the Sunday… you really can’t beat that!
It works like a dream. Only one small point: the screw you are given to fix the guard over the strimmer mechanism is naff (too short and too soft threaded); I replaced it with a better screw from my tool box….

Love the cordless aspect, not having to manage the cable makes it way easier.
Battery life fine for my needs, the 5ah has enough life to do the whole garden.

It certainly does well for standard grass etc, but doesn’t seem manly enough for tougher weeds. But happy with it.

Another good product from ryobi. Quite heavy especially with larger battery added (not included) but did a good job edging drive and garden. Would recommend if you already have the battery.

Works great, only issue is that if using to de-weed then you get chunks and juices flying everywhere so the guard becomes useless. Other than that a perfect trimmer and edge

Best Strimmer I have used, lightweight, quickly and easily adjusts from ordinary strimming to lawn edging and back again. I especially like the automatic cord feed. Already owning a one+ blower and 2 batteries I didn’t need to buy a battery or charger.

What have I been missing? Lawn edging now takes minutes instead of hours on my knees, took a bit of getting used too but now cracked it and it’s brilliant, like the fact the batteries are interchangeable, super tool!

This is a brilliant accessory to the garden tools, very reliable, wish I’d bought one sooner, the edge trimmer is great for lawn edges, the blue 1.6mm line does the job perfectly, had no problems with it at all a 5 amh battery last all day on mine, would certainly recommend this. Makes edge trimming a pleasure now instead of using hand held shears.

So easy to use, effortless cordless power, no line breakage, but easy feed. The quality is superb I have been using ryobi for years ans still have an old blue cordless drill, Ryobi tools last band last.

I like this – it’s very light weight and compact. It’s easy to use and the buy seperate battery and charger – one battery fits all is innovation in my opinion. It means once you get one bit of kit from ryobi it doesn’t bust the bank to buy another.
I bought a spare battery so I am not limited to how much lawn edging I can do.
It’s lightweight – my petrol strimmer destroyed plastic plant pots – this doesn’t.
So just know that this wont cut through masses of weeds but is ideal on lawn edging ect.

Light best used with 1.5 amp hr battery to save weight and gives about 20 minutes cutting, you need two of these batteries , so charge one while using one , for the lager grass cutting

Not as shown in pictures no rubber overmold on front handle. I bought a 4ah battery and fast charger at the same time in total costing around 169 . I cut my small front garden ( about 2m X 2m ) and only used about 50% of the batterys power. That said if I had seen that the 5ah battery was only 5 extra I would of went for that as will be no doubt adding to my Ryobi tools in future.

Not as shown in pictures or video but otherwise works well

Bought this to replace my older version when the motor packed in after 3-4 years.
This one seems more powerful but is heavier so not for folk with weak arms.
That said I have a lot to cut and the larger 18v 5 amp battery lasts about 20 mins on some pretty tough grass.
Overall very pleased and the price was excellent from AMAZON.
Disclosure: I am a big fan of Ryobi ONE products.
They work very well and always have a good price to go with the quality.

This tool is lightweight, easy to use and has enough battery power to trim the edges of my medium lawn at least three times between charges. Beats my previous noisy petrol strimmer. So effortless not having to mix fuel etc.

Well made. Make sure when assembling the head both lugs are fixed in place. Strimmer line tend to gouge into the lawn when you swing to/fro sideways and level with grass. This will have to mastered with use. Edging facility good. Does not appear to be heavy on battery drain. Fairly good.

Firstly, im still laughing at all the reviews where people clearly odnt know how the Ryobi system works. IT DOESNT COME WITH A BATTERY!

Now thats out of the way, the strimmer is great. Its pretty light and I would say perfect for me to use to strim edges on an occasional basis. If you want something more heav duty to cut overgrown grass back, I would probably say this isnt for you. Plently of movement in the head to change the position from strimmer to edger and an extendable handle to boot.

Overall, im pleased with this purchase.

Nice, solid little cordless strimmer for light work. I do have a petrol beast for serious stuff but this Ryobi OLT1832 is very handy for awkward, harder to get to places. It’s not quite perfect though…with the 5amp battery attached I find it just a little heavy and slightly unwieldy but I can live with that but the most frustrating thing for me personally is that it’s just a little bit too long. I’m 5′ 8″ and I have to hunch my shoulders when using this, even on the shortest adjustment, making my arms ache. I have taken it apart but there’s no way to make it any shorter without doing some tube cutting modification which would void the warranty so I’ll just have to get used to it or do my gardening on stilts. Overall though I like it as it saves me having to fire up my other one which would be overkill for light work.

Only had to put in 2 screws, one for the hand grip, one for the guard. I have the 5Ah battery and would definitely recommend that size. Can probably use for a couple of hours steady on a full charge.

I’ve been struggling to find an economical cordless strimmer with string that doesn’t break off every two seconds. I bought the cheapest Ryobi battery and charger, charged it all night, and used it last weekend. It worked great! I had to use an extension cord, as expected, but the string did not break once in the 30 minutes or so it was used. I was impressed!

  30. Anonymous says:

First things first – the plonkers giving it one star because it doesn’t come with a battery clearly can’t read. It’s a bare unit for people who’ve already bought into the Ryobi ecosystem. That’s why it’s so cheap!

So, that out of the way, it’s a *great* little strimmer. I love how much it compacts down which is perfect for me as I needed something I could easily store in a Keter box. It’s fully featured, extendable, head can be swivelled around for edging, different angles… perfect.

Up to the usual quality of the Ryobi one range. Not built for professional use but more than adequate for the average gardener. Just a note referring to those who complain about the unit not being supplied with a battery, if the description had been read properly it is quite clear that no battery is include.

Excellent strimmer, very easy to put together and use. Already had a compatible battery with my Ryobi drill so only had to buy the strimmer, making it excellent value for money.

Strimmer is very powerful, and is also able to do edging due to rotating head.

  33. CynthiaEsson says:

Does a good job, the handle is adjustable for length and the head can be tilted to trim grass edges. Ideally you need around a 4Ah battery, the small 1.3Ah ones don’t last long.

Grass trimmer arrived with the box having been tampered with as it had been slit open at one end. The delivery company left the box behind our bins as we were out (not expecting the delivery to Wednesday). I was concerned that the contents would be missing or damaged but everything was fine. My husband already has Ryobi products and is happy with them. We already have two batteries and a charger.

I was all for buying a more powerful strimmer but decided to go for this model as it appeared to be light enough for my partner to use, meaning I wouldn’t have to do all the strimming myself 🙂

Thankfully that has proven to be the case, but I have used it myself quite a few times over the summer.

Our garden is about 70mx50m, mostly of lawn with a small section containing a border of shrubs and around 10 trees of various heights. About a third is quite steep and edged on one side with hawthorn. This banked part is mostly grass that is impossible to mow with a conventional lawnmower.

With a 5ah battery, I usually get fed up before the battery gives out. This allows me to do all the conventional strimming around the trees and lawn edges followed by some of the more challenging strimming on the bank. Really well-established thistles that appear on the bank are too much of a challenge to cut right down to the ground but they can be mostly chopped using several passes from top to bottom.

The really great thing about this strimmer is that it is so simple and light to use that it is used more often for a few minutes at a time to tidy up an area rather than a whole garden strim.

I am glad I chose this strimmer over a more powerful model as it does 90% of what we need, plus it is so easy to use it means we use it more often.

The fact I can go into the garage plug in the battery into the strimmer and start work, time taken to strim and edge the lawn is now approx the same time it took me to unwind the cable plug it in to the socket, then plug in the old electric primer then start of work.
A time saving device for a man. A brilliant piece of equipment.

This like pretty much aeverything Ryobi make is very good. Easy to assemble and use. Not too heavy either. OK, so it doesn’t come with a better or charger, but once you are invested into the brand, the batteries are the same. So make the initial investment into the best battery and charger, and that will be good for everything you need. I bought 2 X 5mAh batteries and the best charger and these things last for ages without needing to be charged.

  45. TiffanySaddler says:

Great product, easy to use. I’ve got smaller battery pack which I had from a drill kit but it lasts just fine for my small amount of grass. Would suggest a larger battery if your garden is a fair size.

  46. TheoJDINecu says:

     United Kingdom

Nicely made and the head adjustment is an excellent feature.
    I have two complaints,
    1. There should be a guide wheel attachment available so that edging lawn borders is easier. Ryobi sell a cordless lawn edger everywhere but the UK. Not that easy to get a straight edge freehand.
    2. Only 1 wire strimmer as opposed to the normal 2. No idea why as 2 wires would be much more effective.

As a strimmer for a small garden it’s ideal.

  47. MartiGuillen says:

This was bought to supplement a larger petrol powered trimmer. It fits the bill perfectly. It is convenient, easy to use and does not present the nuisance of starting that petrol powered machines do. I would advise getting the 4 Amp/Hour battery as the lower capacity battery does not last very long. I already have Ryobi One Plus tools so a charger and batteries are available. This comes without batteries.

  48. DanieleKeighley says:

A bit on the expensive side, that’s before accounting for batteries and charger (Which I already have).
Still no wires. So no unwinding of cable. No unwinding of 5m extension cable, no finding of a free plug socket. No winding up of said now twisted and dirty cables.

If I now see weeds growing, I can now have them chopped up within minutes instead of putting it off because of wires.

This is a very lightweight but sturdy machine. It trim the grass really well, and the handle makes it easy to maneuver. We already had the batteries, but if you have to purchase these it makes it an expensive trimmer.

This is brilliant! I’m 5’2 and not very strong. This is so easy to operate. It trims the lawn, edges and small to medium hedging plants in no time. Useful having a continuous cord rather than those bits of plastic that fly off into the shrubs every two minutes. The One+ battery system saves a lot of money once you have bought the battery and charger and it’s good for the environment. NOTE this product doesn’t include the battery and charger. I now have a Ryobi cordless drill, reciprocating saw as well as this grass trimmer. They all share the same charging unit and two batteries. They have made, otherwise daunting, chores very easy.

Fantastic strimmer compared to a budget version. I had two extra batteries so have more than enough power but the included battery would be ample for an average sized garden. Head adjusted easily for edging and line is easily replaced with standard spools of line which you wind back on yourself keeping the cost down compared to a replacement spool.

Brilliant buy! I have a big garden so cordless was essential. I use ryobi for work so knew what I was getting. Wouldn’t run it with anything less than a 5amp battery.

Between the strimmer and the dual battery lawnmower cutting the grass isn’t a chore. No more cable whip and extension cables!

    Worth every penny!!

Easy to use handy to have a battery always charged as it uses the same as my normal day to day tools.
No wheel for trimming edges like my old Worx one but seems OK despite that.
As I have read with other one+ tools batteries can be sticky to remove, seems the drills are fine but other tools seem to be slightly different, so a bit of wiggling and muttering required to change.
A bit of joined up thinking required between factories required I think.

I bought this strimmer for times when I can’t be bothered to fire up the powered strimmer. I use it for light duties only and it is fine in that role. Usually this is to trim those bits the lawnmower can’t get to. I can’t tell you how long it lasts on a charge as I tend to use if for 5-10 minutes only at a time. Get to any thick scrub and the motor struggles which is why I would recommend it for light work in the main.

I’ll apologise in advance for the long review…

We’ve been manually trimming grass borders with small hand shears. Mainly because our gtech device’s battery no longer charges and Gtech have changed battery design and couldn’t provide replacements.

This made me doubt about buying future battery operated devices, My gtech is over 8 years old and has been brilliant. However it’s worthless without a battery and no third party solutions existed. It’s not going to the skip and it’s a total waste.

Ryobi offer so many tools I’d be amazed if they changed the battery design in the near future. If they did there’s a plentiful supply of third party batteries on offer as well. This made my mind up to invest in a ryobi.

This strimmer did the job in 10 minutes. The “kit” purchase (battery, charger and strimmer for 99) was out of stock so I purchased the items separately (albeit with a 4amp battery and quicker charger). The battery had one notch on it already but was enough to complete the task (so I could have had a smaller capacity battery) . The strimmer is REALLY quiet and very efficient. I thoroughly recommend this ryobi and will no doubt invest in more of their tools in the future.

I have used Ryobi tools for years with excellent results. Some of my batteries are over ten years old and still going strong. I had my doubts as to whether this would be heavy enough to cope with my allotment paths. As long as you start at the top and work down with the tall grass it copes very well. The auto feed for the cord is working well. So far haven’t used a full real, the test will be when I rewind new cord onto the bobbin. I don’t expect any trouble as long as it is wound on evenly. I purchased it to replace my petrol brush cutter which was getting a bit heavy to control. This is light enough not to give me any problems.

Really surprised how good this is. Sure, is doesn’t have the speed of a petrol strimmer ( single wire on this), but, it works, and works well. What’s really surprising bis how long it lasts on a 5ah battery, and how long the plastic line lasts. Just done 25 kind of strimming. Not had to pull and more line out and only half the battery used.

My petrol one eats through line, and is a pain to reload when it jams. What this lacks in sheer brute force, it gains in non stop work.

So nice not to have to wear ear defenders too.

I wasn’t totally convinced this would be gutsy enough, but I was wrong. With a 4Ah battery it packs plenty of power and lasts for ages. The line feed is, like most strimmers, a bit touch and go (pun intended) but its when I thread the second spool it becomes really telling – we shall see. Being liberated from a long power lead, or from a temperamental, smelly petrol engine has many merits. It’s not a brush cutter though – gentle edge tidying etc only.

Had a few strummers before but this is the best by far. Easy to carry and balance for use, the chord is strong and cuts through thick nettles and weeds easily without breaking. I already had batteries and the power means I have yet to run out of power.

  65. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Really needs more than one battery in your possession (or one of the more powerful batteries) as the small ones do not last that long. However the strimmer does what it is supposed to do. Very expensive if you do not already have a couple of batteries handy!

  66. Anonymous says:

The strimmer was easily and quickly assembled out of the box. After inserting a fully charged 5ah battery I trimmed and edged our three average size lawns. I also attacked an area of the garden overun with nettles, weeds and tall grass. When I checked the battery it was still showing an 80% charge!. This is a BARE TOOL, if you don’t already have One + tools you WILL need to buy a battery and charger at extra cost.

This replaced a trusty Ryobi petrol stimmer and is so much easier and more convenient to use. Perfect weight for lawn edges etc and Ryobi ONE+ system meant I didn’t need a battery or charger as I already had those. In fact a Ryobi drill 1.3AHr battery does the 20 minutes I need. However, this strimmer doesn’t cut it with hogweed, brambles etc with standard strimmer line – haven’t tried the optional trimmer blades.

Much lighter that a petrol powered one not as powerful mind and much more convenient that an electric one.

I am SOOO glad I bought this!! I’ve just used it for the first time for the first cut on my overgrown lawn (not heavily overgrown, just the first cut of the year, so a good 6-8 inches grass length). The lawn section of my garden is roughly 7m x 10m, so not small either. After charging the battery (bought separately with charger) to full capacity (about 2hrs first time) this easily cut 80% of the lawn down to size. There was a slight power fade towards the end, but when the battery is depleted it just stops dead. I put it to charge for a quick half hour top up while I picked up the clippings and then finished the rest, and it was simple as that. It doesn’t even need mowing! It surprising how much easier not having a cable dragging about makes things too. A great purchase.

Golden Review Award: 228 From Our UsersTo all the one star reviews complaining about the lack of a battery or charger; that’s what the term ‘bare unit’ refers to. For those unable to comprehend that, there is even a picture of a battery with ‘0x’ next to it. If that still does not compute then perhaps you should not be operating power tools anyway? But that’s none of my business.

As for the strimmer, it’s excellent. If you already own ryobi one tools then for 60 it’s a no brainer. A much wider cut than my old bosch. Can’t however attest to the battery life. I have a 5ah and I imagine this will last far longer than I need. Great tool.

This strimmer is a lot lighter and easier to manoeuvre than the corded Flymo strimmer it has replaced and the 4.0amp battery I have lasts long enough to do all my garden, so all in all I cannot give it anything less than 5 stars.

I purchased the One+ lawnmower in 2019 (the dual battery version) which has been incredible so bought this to go alongside it (And am going all-in on Ryobi going forward). A great strimmer and easily drops into the routine. I’ve around 120 sq metres of garden to mow, which the lawnmower does easily (I can do two full cuts on a single set of 4amH batteries) and this also leaves enough charge to do the edges with the strimmer. Well balanced also.

A great addition to my burgeoning collection of ryobi battery tools. I was concerned my heavy petrol strimmer would unbalance me on a steep grassy bank, I feel more secure using this lightweight one. I also like that I can quickly grab it to do a wee section of strimming without all the, fill tank, put on harness bother. My petrol strimmer will still be used for heavier/time consuming jobs. I wish I’d realised that you have to buy replacement cord cartridges rather than restring yourself, that could prove expensive, I’ve no sense of how long the cord will last as yet.

Got to be honest, I prefer my older ryobi strimmer. This one is that bit heavier & more difficult to manoeuvre. Bought this as my old one kept getting jammed & had seen better days, but definitely prefer the older, lighter model. This does however strim well, just means my husband has to do it now. So not that disappointing!

    Very versatile!

This has enabled me to tidy up the garden without harassing my husband to get the petrol strimmer out. You do need the battery though but Ialready have a few one + products so did not need to buy a battery. You do not need to buy a branded Ryobi battery, good product I have bought generic batteries on Amazon and they are fine although you will need a charge

Nice light weight strimmer that doesn’t kill your battery in 5 mins. Using the 5ah battery I can easily edge our front and rear gardens 8,9 times on one charge. The ability to swivel the strimmer head is a big bonus along with the sliding handle which means it can be shortened for storage are a big plus. Auto feed spool with a 1.6mm cord. No negatives to mention of.

I really like the Ryobi 1+ range and this strimmer does not disappoint. I was worried the battery would not last long but it lasts really well. For keeping long grass under control this is ideal as you don’t need an extension lead thus it is very versatile. It won’t work so well with heavy undergrowth, brambles etc though, a petrol powered brush cutter is the best option for that. The line is stronger than I anticipated and will happily slaughter weeds etc growing up through a patio.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI was looking for a light weight strimmer. Ryobi seamed to have a couple in the range, so I went for this, the bigger one. Its typical Ryobi, quite well made, not too cheap and nasty. It uses the 18v One system battery, which is great because I already have Ryobi drills and saw. Its not as good as I was hoping, but I did use a petrol brush cutter before, so maybe I was expecting too much. Its fine in the garden, but for paddock maintenance its a little under powered. It can cope, just slow going when the head keeps slowing down as you attack 2-3ft tall weeds and grass.

Its part of the One system range, so it does NOT come with battery and charger. Why are there so many negative reviews about not coming with battery or charge, some people just can’t read. My only grumble is the handle length,. I’m 6ft4in I find it a little short.

Its better than the cheap DIY store own brand I had, but not as good as a petrol brush cutter. I don’t regret buying it.

Perfect for tidying up the garden, lawn edging and light weeds. Doesn’t quite have the power for very overgrown / brush work but then again didn’t expect it to. The plastic blade attachments (RAC139) are a bit difficult to get hold of aren’t much of an improvement for the heavy stuff.

It’s light and easy to use, my 4ah battery lasted about 20ish minutes of constant running.

Purchased this as a replacement for my Qualcast Strimmer as the battery wasn’t holding charge. Great price and also got an additional 4 off via Amazon. All my Ryobi batteries work which is great and there is plenty of strimmer cable on the spool. Its not too heavy, however, I wouldn’t want to lug it about for hours. If you have a medium to big size garden a petrol strimmer would probably be more suited.

Obviously doesnt do what my petrol strimmer cld do (power wise) but I was sick of the hassle I had with my present one. Had the batteries (4ah) and charger, so for 50 odd quid I thought I would take the chance. I can edge my complete garden (v large) and have 3/4 battery capacity left, but dont think it will cut through heavy scrub, it wont. Takes a while longer but uses less line (little breakages) and does a decent job. Well pleased.

I bought this as my Bosch corded weed eater was just annoying me. Everytime you stopped the head would fall off and whilst that could have been replaced the new one would have gone the same way as well. The new system on this Ryobi one always seems to have the right amount of string and i don’t have to smack the head on the ground to achieve this. The mechanism that locks the wire head to the body isn’t exposed so i would assume that it won’t break as easily as the Bosch one.

It wont cope with thick stuff though, well not aggressively but if you are willing to take a bit more time with the big stuff you will be fine for the most part.

    Very easy to assemble
I use the 4ah battery and I have an exceptionally large garden and it does it all in one charge! – which surprised me as it was used for a good hour!
Quiet and hassle free! – no way would I go back to petrol
Remember it’s for gardens – large or small – not recommend for ” fields” of very long grass and thick weeds!

Bought this to replace an old corded strimmer, and seeing as I have some ryobi battery tools I thought I’d give it a go, it’s very light and handles quite well, I’ve used 2.5ah and 5ah batteries and both last well, the auto feed line also is strong it doesn’t seem to break as easily as my old one, I would recommend this strimme

We have a number of the Ryobi 18v garden tools and this is a very useful addition which makes strimming awkward corners where we can’t get a mower in very easy and quick. With a simple rotation of the head, edges can be neatly and simply trimmed.

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersHave been using One+ from Ryobi for a few years now and have never let me down. I thought I would purchase this strimmer and see how long the battery lasts. I bought 2 6ah batteries to use with it. Battery came out of box and onto strimmer without charging and worked like a charm. No loss of power at all. Manager to get into all the awkward places my previous petrol strimmer couldn’t. Easy to adjust to suit your needs and adjustable boom for either out of reach places or just in case you are extremely tall. Either way I can honestly say it’s a great purchase.

Highly recommended. Remember that this is unit only and no battery or charger. If you don’t already own a One+ system you will need to buy both to use it.

Performs well and a 4.0aH battery lasts well over one hour of continuous use. Being quite tall I particularly liked the extendable body which allowed me to achieve a comfortable working position, a feature which is lacking on most makes of trimmer and the lack of a mains cord avoids taking the heads off your flowers with the trailing lead. A good purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had this strimmer for four months and it is great for what strimmers do best. It edges my lawn easily, it cuts grass round tree stumps easily and it clears light scrub easily. The battery lasts very well and the strimmer line feeds out automatically and I have yet to replace the first spool. Additional spools are only about 10 for three. My garden is about an acre in size with lawn and borders and this tool really helps to keep it smart.

I love this Ryobi one stuff. I am a total convert to tne battery world. No more cables over shoulders etc. Pretty light weight unit. I bought two batteries but never needed the second one. Plenty of juice in just one battery.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersIt is powerful enough for tough weeds, although it uses up the battery quite quickly. I use it with 4aH batteries which give me about 1 hour of tough strimming before needing to swap out the battery. I should say I have a big garden which is full of tough weeds and I work it hard. Love the fact it is go anywhere, and like the fact I can use the batteries in both my mower and strimmer. It is lighter than my last powered one and nicely balanced with the battery. With a bigger battery it should last longer, but the 5aH are that bit more expensive.

Have the 55cm hedge trimmer, and the long extension hedge topper as well. All use same battery. Have reasonable sized garden with large hedge right round, and all 3 items do the job.
    Great not to have wires.
On one charge the battery goes quite a long time, and all 3 machines.
Is no trouble just to pop out with one and do a missed bit in a couple of minutes. All items are very light, yet have adequate power .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood strimmer, does its job without complaining, in fact for me it’s much better than the corded one it replaces. Seems to be well made quite chunky, (in a good way), and substantially built. This is my second Ryobi ONE+ tool, I am becoming quite a fan of the Ryobi system.
I didn’t find the lack of a battery an issue, after all the whole point of the Ryobi ONE+ system is to allow you to buy the tools and batteries separately so as to not make you spend money on a battery and charger every time you buy a tool.

Arrived in good time and well packaged. The Timmer does a good job if not a little loud (hence the 4 star review). I run this will a 2.5Ah battery which I use with other tools in the ryobi range, so it fits the brief perfectly.

On a single charge I can easily run the Trimmer for about 20-30min covering approx 25 meters.

I’ve not had any issues after 3 uses after over a month of use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDoes a really good job of strimming round the garden to complement the heavy duty petrol gorse buster we use round our fields. It is light to use but effective on grasses, and weeds such as young thistles and nettles, with a this year’s briar being about its limit. The fact that it’s cordless and the battery matches our lawn mower, our drill and our mini vacuum is an added bonus. We’re tough on garden strimmers and used to go through one a year so I’ll hopefully update this review in six months time.
A couple of years later and its still doing a great job! It gets used at least once a week through the summer and more often when the weeds are growing faster.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersBought this with the lawnmower, returned the lawnmower but this worked a treat. Important to note I use this mostly for the edges and some hard to reach spots. It is a little on the expensive side for a strimmer, but is so easy to go out and use and being wireless is great. Was out strimming with baby daughter on my back in the lovely weather.

Had to buy new battery (as my originals came with lawnmower) but it did my lawn edges well with only the 2.5Ah batt.

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersBought this item because I have another Ryobi product.

I have used it twice so far and have found it very easy to use. It is light, gets into those awkward corners most gardeners seem to have. The head swivels so can be used as a lawn edger. It line feeds better than other strimmers I have bought, just ease off the power and more line feeds at the same time. I bought a larger capacity battery and after two uses, it had used two bars, so plenty left in the tank.

The only niggle, not with the product, is I have arthritis in my hands and I found it difficult to fit the bottom guard, but if you have nimble fingers and supple hands, you won’t have a problem.
