Great that it folds up and is safe to put away in your pocket or shelf. It is very good quality and feels sturdy in the hand.

Works nicely. As others said the packaging is weird and difficult to deal with. The folding mechanism is a bit fiddly but it is secure. Really could do with better instructions.

We use these knives in warehouse. Good size for holding. It comes with three blades. Good value and quality. The packaging was very safe. It’s safe to use it too. More importantly, it’s sharp and strong. It does the job. Highly recommended.

Struggling to get the smallest piece of packaging out of the blade slot as well as on the sliding retractor mechanism. Never had so much bother getting an item out of packaging like this one. Other than that when I can finally use it, should prove handy at work

Well packaged, sturdy design and even came with some replacement blades. Ideal to fit in pocket and feels sturdy and solid to hold.

Once I figured how to get it out the blister pack I found this to be a Sturdy enough tool but the blade replacement button can be a pest if dust/dirt has entered the blade space. The Spare Blade holder is a bit flimsy and only holds 3 blades. Overall a good Tool with a good belt clip, if required.

Great sturdy and sharp knife with extra blade storage in the handle, easy to swap out. What I’m seeing a lot of is packaging complaints, why? It took me all of 30 seconds to remove. Tear along the perforation where the plastic enters the slider part of the knife and the plastic slides right out! There are even instructions on the back…

Love this knife for the sheer safety of it compared to other more plainly designed knifes. The thought process in buying this was due to having a young toddler son.

The knife came on time, we’ll packaged. It seems a robust knife and suits me perfectly. Not complaining but the young delivery guy asked me for proof that I was over eighteen. I’m seventy years old!!! So thought the question a little irrelevant.

Excellent product, comfortable to use and gives secure grip. Only issue is the product packaging. You have to cut it off as it is some type of flexible printed plastic, which is thought the whole knife and blade area.

Great blade once you extract it from the packaging. Whatever possessed Stanley to adopt the plasticised packaging material and thread this THROUGH the blade assembly is completely beyond me – I needed tools & a bit of savvy to get the knife away from the packaging – a bit of a nightmare and not for the faint hearted.
Still, once extracted – a great, sturdy, safe and very useable knife.

This is a great product but it should come with clearer instructions. Having said that I read the other reviews so after a little trial and error managed to work it out! Definitely worth pursuing and purchasing!

As others have said, getting this thing out of the ‘packaging’ is the worst experience ever!!!
I used scissors, tweezers and my teeth to get everything out!! All that because there are no instructions!! I nearly sent it back for a refund due to fact that a small piece of the packaging got stuck inside the knife. Whoever designed the packaging should be slapped.
Apart from that, it’s an ok product for the price and should last a long time.

Can’t fault this knife really. It folds up with a clip so can put in your work trousers easily, has a small storage compartment for extra blades (you can only get about 3 in there), and you can collapse it with one hand, and easy no tool blade change.

Oh, and it’s packaged quite well as other reviewers have said, but if you are a competent grown up it only takes a minute to remove . . .

I have two of these knives and they are very good quality tools. The only issue with them is how they are packaged. There is a plastic faux blade that runs through the inside of the tool that is a nightmare to remove. It seems no matter how I’ve tried to seperate the knife and the packaging, a piece of flimsy plastic gets stuck inside the internal mechanism that is a real P.I.T.A. to get out.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOverall a good product. However i do think the packaging is ridiculously hard to remove and even after, a small bit of the packaging was left inside, jamming the blade (luckily i got it out but others might not be so lucky). Also i think there could be an added safety feature so that the knife cannot fold back down with the blade pushed froward, as although there is a liner lock, it was handed back to me, folded, but with the blade still out.

The belt clip is fantastic, I’ve had lots of different knives before, even top brands like Leatherman (Wave) & Milwaukee (fastback) but this knife is my go to! I use it every single day at work, so much so I can pull it off my belt flip it open in one hand, not one has broken! Great for concealing in public areas too my favourite crime knife. Would recommend to any tradie or criminal.

Top quality blade. At first I struggled to remove the protective cover and somehow got it removed using a tweeser. The protective cover could have been better designed.

The product itself is solid and got some nice storage in the handle to store enough spare blades.

  52. Anonymous says:

The supplied instructions are really not very clear as to how to fit your first blade – I ended up disassembling the whole knife in order to work out that the red button allows blade insertion and release because the tiny abstract pictures on the packaging really don’t make it immediately obvious.

Now that i’ve got that sorted though, it’s an excellent knife.

Good utility knife, nice that it folds but as everyone states the packaging is a pain to remove – I had to disassemble the knife to get it off. Other than this, I would recommend to anyone who wants a compact quick change knife.

  66. Anonymous says:

Neat design – Good from a safety point of view as it folds up, so the blade can’t come loose whilst in a pocket/toolbox. Also, changing blades is a lot easier than on old stanley knives – simply press the red button and it can be slid out and replaced.

This tool should be renamed to “THE BEAST”, awesome tool, bomb proof, plus brings a few extra blades, AWESOMENESS ! Im super happy, wont be buying another one, this one will last for years, unless i want to buy for someone or if i lose mine. If you need a cutting tool for work this is the one. Everyone talking about how hard it is to remove that piece of paper or cardboard … man just rip it apart like i did, takes less than 2 seconds !

Once I’d got it out of the packaging and deployed my Phd in Engineering to ascertain how it works – it was great!

Nice touch – the little ‘nick’ underneath, near the blade which can be used with the blade retracted to cut string, cables etc.

    Folds up really small.

    Feels substantial.

  69. Anonymous says:

Nice and compact. Decent little blade storage inside the handle. And with how it folds into its self there is a huge reduced risk of accidents in your pocke

  70. Anonymous says:

By far the most useful thing I have in my pockets while working, I’d rather lose my car keys than this, sturdy as a fixed one but safe enough to put in your pocket without worrying.

When you get it don’t just tear in to it though as there is cardboard inside it that if you don’t remove properly will be stuck in there forever.

  71. Anonymous says:

After reading some reviews, I decided I liked the balance of features and bought this. I am very happy with this purchase. I can understand why some people have been annoyed by the packaging, but it wasn’t such a tough nut to crack and shouldn’t be marked down for that (if you get stumped by the packaging maybe it would be best to leave the DIY to someone else? 😉
What I did mark it down for was the belt clip on the side of the handle which has a sharpish end and is not comfortable to hold for any length of time, so I just removed it all together (you’ll need a star head screwdriver set). Apart from that the design and build is decent for the price here and should last a good few years.

Thought it was a bit expensive compared to standard knives, but it is so superior I was naive before. It is nice to hold with a rubbery grip. It folds easily and robustly. It is very well made and stores spar eblades within. A superior tool to last longer than cheap tat.

I wasn’t sure after reading some of the reviews. But these are the best stanleys I’ve owned. The fold mechanism is great and has an area. Inside to store blades.
Some review mentioned it’s hard to remove the blade. The key is to expose the entire blade and then hit the red button. Even one notch in and it’s not easy at all.
Solid quality piece. Thanks again Stanley.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. No problems whatsoever and it does the job. You just have to figure out that to fold and unfold the knife you have to depress a metal spring tucked inside the recess slot where the knife fits when folded.

Wanted a stanley knife that was a little bit different , and this is just what i was looking for.
No fiddly screws to adjust or undo , a nice little touch is that you can half its size by folding it into a rubber sheath.
Buy it you won’t be disappointed.

  81. Anonymous says:

Good, solid, strong, does the job and folds up to save some space.
The packaging was a bit annoying to remove as it goes through the knife and you can’t really open it.

  82. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

I’ve tried cheap “Stanley” knives before (i.e. not real Stanley, but Draper or whoever) like I suppose you have. And they’ve always been rubbish.
This one is a bit dearer, but a solid high-class tool that’s safe and easy to use and store and one I’ve been very glad I bought.
Once you get used to the odd folding method, it’s easy to use and feels secure in the hand, unlike the cheapo ones where you’re forever expecting them to take your finger off.
Replacement blades are cheap enough and double-ended. Don’t make the mistake of buying a decent knife, then trying to economise on blades – get the proper ones.
You can store a few blades inside the handle, and changing blades is a ten second job and much safer than with in an inferior knife. It feels solid and under control when you cut with it, the blade retracts completely before folding, so you can safely leave it lying about without fear of anybody getting cut accidentally.

This is a brilliant piece of kit, I cannot for the life of me understand all the negatives, there are obviously a lot of people who shouldn’t play with sharp implements. For those who’ve mastered painting by numbers this is a must have tool

very good stuff – light and easy to use. Only complaint would be the hook bit on the side, with the weight of the folded knife it usually ends up upside down and falls off. Not really a problem for me though.

excellent knife and great for safety if kids accidently get hold of it as it all folds in. at first i couldnt work out how to fold it but eventually saw you have to push the silver thing in while you are folding it together. i love that you can store blades in it. i only use it for light usage but so far its never failed!

  86. JinaMireles says:

I bought this as i was moving into my first house and needed a handy wee knife for unpacking boxes and DIY.

I really like the folding feature of this knife as it fits in your pocket a lot easier than a traditional Stanley knife and its also an additional safety feature as the blade is folded inside the handle, the spare blades are also stored inside the handle.

It is well constructed as you would expect with a “Stanley” Stanley Knife.

Some other reviewers have mentioned that the blades are awkward to change, i haven’t had any trouble changing them so far (i found the instructions on the packaging self-explanatory), just watch your fingers when handling the blades.

    I would recommend this product.

I had no issues with delivery.

I bought this knife as I’ve had a tried-and-tested solid Stanley knife for ages, but really wanted one which I could put in my pocket whilst working, and generally leave about the place a bit without worrying about stabbing myself. Second priority was quick change of blade without having to find a screwdriver, and my third was feeling solid in use – I was once bought a “folding” knife as a pressie but any reverse pressure and it flopped in and tried to take your little finger off. That went in the bin.

Result? Yes, yes, and yes! When you fold the knife open, there’s a strong and well engineered spring lever which toggle locks it open. You cannot fold the knife shut without intentionally operating the release spring which is nicely out of the way, but not too difficult to get to. You have to retract the blade to properly close the knife, and opening is easy – I quite happily put this in my pocket when working, and would reach for it one handed while up a ladder if required.

The extend/retract is well done – you can really lean on the blade, and poke things if required, without the blade flopping out of the way. And the blade swap is a 2 second job, just by pressing the red button you can pull out and fit a new blade. Also there’s capacity to hold about 3 blades inside the body of the knife.

For being a folding/retractable/heavily featured knife, this feels really solid and is a joy to use. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use Stanley knifes alot and this is my favorite so far, its also very safe because you can easily retract the blade back in and then when you have finished with it the whole thing neatly fold in half and closes onto its self, great ! the other thing I like is the handle doubles up as a spare blade storage compartment.

Great item. I have now purchased three for different locations. The only drawback is the belt clip which kept catching so I have removed them. This makes the unfolding so easy I can do it one handed, if required, but closing it where you need to release the safety lock still, thankfully, really needs two.

Bought for work as im opening boxes all day and other objects, negative is the paint chips off if you drop it on the floor, not a biggie other then that it works great. The folding is why I bought it, blade change is easy once you get the hang of it, the packaging from Stanley is stupid though, really hard to get out and had to rip it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a very good knife, I like how it’s retractable and it folds. Takes a few days to get used to this if you are using the knife often throughout the day. Comes with about 5 Fatmax blades which are stored under the black flap in the handle. My only criticism is true of all knives like this with a quick release button – the blade does wobble a bit. But changing blades is very easy and fast.
